great friendly teacher in class
Very easy class with very basic, simple presentation.
Dr. Okada is always clear with his lectures, and willing to help if needed. Lectures may be a bit dry, but what do you expect with statistics. He makes a difficult subject easy to manage.
His lectures are very clear and easy to get. I've never had to use the books in his classes because so clear. Tests reasonable and reflect material very well. Great professor
Straightforward, clear, concise
Subject is hard. but Okada break it down so much that it is easy to understand. Only thing is that it was a night class and it was too much information. the test is ok not hard nor easy. two test and a final
good instructor. class was interesting with real life examples to better our understandings of the subject. He gave study guides for the tests I believe but overall, I learned a lot from the lectures and I liked it a lot.
Great instructor.. I would definately recommend him...
Is a very hard subject but he makes it easy to understand. Always leaves time for questions and his homework assignments are very helpful if you don't do good on tests.
I was not looking forward to this class because I hate math but he has made it easy and he is very nice. Everyone said don't take him but I think he's a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone taking CJ340.
He makes an extremely boring subject really interesting. He loves what he teaches and keeps you interested in the subject. Class requires use of a calculator and statistical analysis.
He is one of the best professors ive ever had. I went into this class thinking i would fail because im horrible at math. He explains everything really well and he is always willing to help. Go to all the classes and check your hw at his office hours and you will do fine.
This teacher is awesome. He teaches very well is very clear about everything. if you have questions he's more than willing to help you with it. He goes over things so you know what your doing. He's a great teacher so thats why taking him again for Psyc 391
This professor is great. He's clear and it was just easy to learn from him. If I needed another pscyh class, I would definitely look for one with him. He does give pop quizzes, but they are open notes and, as long as you've been attending class and taking notes, you'll ace them. =) Three exams, 1 paper.
FUNNY GUY! His class is interesting and well structure. If you take good notes then you don't even need the book. Great professor!!! He also teaches psy 331 and psy 201, take those with him.
wonderful teacher! very clear, outlined lectures. excellent presentation skills, makes concepts unbelievably easy to understand. no need to buy the book, take good notes. wouldn't say the tests are easy, the short essay questions can get you sometimes. but that's how a good teacher really tests your knowledge! wish all my teachers were this good!
Great instructor!!! He is funny and speeds class along. Great to take during the summer: easy quizzes and straight-forward exams!
great teacher!! very helpful and is very clear. His lectures are so well organized so its easy to study off just the notes.
Nice guy. Easy class if you attend lectures and take notes. Read the chapters, do the study guide and there's no reason why you won't get an A. Very fair grader and all around nice/funny guy.
great instructor!! Very fun and made calss enjoyable. If you need the book for the class, please email me @ [email protected] (I am selling a NEW book for much cheaper than the school USED price!!)
Great teacher. Very very tough material... very tough professor... but worth the while. You will remember what you learn because you have to study your butt off to do well. Hard multiple choice: but I promise you will learn.
Great teacher. Too bad I was a sleepyhead and missed out on good, interesting, important information that is helpful towards your daily life.
Highly recommended professor.
Great professor. Very entertaining. Fair. Need to keep up with notes, readings, and study guides. No reason not to get a good grade as long as you take good notes.
Very good teacher, good at lecturing, must take notes and just be careful of test...must study to get a good grade. But enjoyed class.
i liked him alot
Dr. Okada is a great lecturer. You won't be bored in his classes.Make sure you go to class everyday or find a friend to get notes from if you miss class. You really don't even need the book, everything on the tests is from lecture.I highly recommend any class of his!!!
He is hilarious and he makes the course material a lot of fun to learn. He clarifies the subject immensely with his use of examples. The class isn't tremendously easy, but if you take good notes and study, you'll get an A in the course.
Dr. Okada is a great professor. He makes the material interesting and uses real life examples to make sure you know all the concepts. As long as you take good notes, you'll do great in his class. I never used the text book in any of these classes.
Dr. Okada was a very mellow, & easy going professor. His course is not difficult, I did not purchase the book and got a B, missed a few lectures, so if you attend class everyday it is very possible to get an A. His paper wasn't difficult at all. Take this course if you want an easy A or B. He is very nice and very approachable.
great
He's got a good sense of humor. His lectures are very organized and you can download his PowerPoint slides ahead of time and use them to take notes. The study guides make tests easy. The writing assignments were pretty simple. He seems very approachable and did not mind answering questions.
Fairly easy, interesting class. Funny guy.
good sense of humor and provides real life examples to each of his lectures to help students understand what he is lecturing. his lectures are very organized and easy to follow. Gave sporadic quizzes during the semester but VERY easy and can use your notes. provides great study guides and is just an overall nice guy!
attendance doesn't count for your grade, but the tests are almost completely from lecture. just go and take notes, and you're golden. whole grade is based on 5 tests and a term paper. he makes a thorough study guide of questions - just answer the questions and study those. funny guy, lectures are interesting
By far the best prof. at CSUF. Took 361 only so I could be in his class again. He's very fair. He's also very understanding/accomodating. He's knowledgeable...but makes the material very easy to understand and retain. Gives Study Guides like a month before the test and those are very reflective of the test questions. Take him!
Phenomenal Teacher. One of the best Ive ever had. The guy comes to class with his lecture completely prepared and organized. He doesn't "wing" it like some professors. His exams are his lectures. If you fail at this class, IT IS YOUR FAULT. I got 98% in there. Take this class!!
EXCELLENT Proffessor. He's funny, interesting, and very easy to understand. It is an easy course and you learn a lot! You will do well if you go to class and take good notes, I didn't touch the text book and I got an A. 3 Exams, 1 easy Paper, 4 open note quizes

Thi prof. is by far the best i have had yet! All you have to do is take down the notes, which means going to class. He NNNNEEVVER takes attendence. i would totally take this course
not a very helpful individual. test are hard and class is way boring. when i took him he didnt use powerpoint so it made id difficult to try to write down his lecture. DO NOT TAKE!!!
do not take!!!!! he wasnt helpful unless u were one of his pets!!!! half multiple and othe half essay!!! no study guide so all lecture and book, so boooo!!!!
This professor was very helpful, he made stats much easier to understand. However, you must know that in order to get a good grade in the course you must attend class and study the lecture notes. I would recommend this professor to all my friends.
not a very good teacher in the sense of been helpful. if u like lectures with no powerpoint, by all means go ahead and take this class. the whole class is lecture so bring a redbull, cuz man this class sucks.
I don't know what some of the people below are talking about. He always has a study guide for his classes, I/o and Social. Psych 340 is abnormal psych and Dr. Okada doesn't teach this class.
dont take unless u like to write tons of notes and read the stupid book as well. boring lecture and hard to figure out what he wants on test!!!
dont take
good luck!!!!!

I've had this prof for several classes. He is helpful if you take the time and go see him. His lectures and stydy guides are clear. You are expected to work in the class, like reading the text. You can't expect to get a good grade jsut because you go to class. You have to study. This is college.
he is one of those professors that gives a lot of detail during notes... so make sure you take notes.. or else ur F'ed... also.. attend all classes... very important because the quizzes can help your grade since theyre open note... also try to actually learn the info.. if you dont know your info.. u wont do well on the test.. i had to memorize it a
Awesome teacher!! He makes I/O so interesting and he applied it to our lives. Very organized and clear. Just attend class and take all of the notes he writes on the board and that's all you need to get an A on tests. Such a nice person too! Very smart and I totally recomend him.If you miss class just read the chapter cause all the info is there.
Lectures are very clear... everything you need for the test is gone over in class. . . Do the study guides are you should do fine on the tests. . . There is one paper, its not difficult, its on whatever you want really. . . I RECOMMEND this professor. . . He is very good.
best professor ever-can't fail his class even if you tried
My favorite professor!! I had him for stats and I/O psyc. His class is so organized and clear and he is very helpful. You have to show up and study but if you put in a reasonable amount of effort you'll get an A.
Great teacher, very clear in lecture. Grades fairly, etc.
He is such an awesome, funny, high organized, comprehensible professor. I recommend everyone take him.
Dr. Okada, is a highly organized professor who gives out study guides and is willing to help. Test are composed of multiple choice & short answer; 3 exames + quizzes. He designs his instruction so that it will benefit his students. Truely one of best CSUF psych professors=) Take him!
He is the most organized teacher I have had in a long time. His lectures are direct and informative. Just go to class because he does have pop quizzes but you can use your notes! He is a good teacher!
Dr. Okada is a great teacher. He is very helpful and as long as you attend class you will pass. I havent read the book at all, just take good notes and you'll do fine. 4 tests and have a take home and a closed part. I was goin into stats but it was not bad at all. i strongly suggest him. he's organzied and doesnt mind helping. Take Him!
This class was pretty easy. You don't really need the textbook since everything is pretty much in the notes. He gives 4 easy pop quizzes to encourage attendance, all open note, open book. The exams are not bad as long as you take good notes! Overall cool class.
I had Okada for Stats and it was the hardest classes I have had here at CSUF and seriously every person on our class agree. We all spend 3-4 hours on the HW and it was all difficult. He is helpful but this class is seriously FRIGGEN HARD
The class has its interesting moments and it's dull moments but he tries his best to make it interesting. He is a great professor and prepares you for exams. If you are interested in the psychology take him. You'll learn alot. TAKE NOTES! You'll need them for quizzes and the study guides!
hey was the best teacher i had ever taking. his STAT class wasnt hard if make it hard it is but he tries everything to help to pass the class but it all up to how much you put your effort in to the class
SHOW UP TO CLASS!!! If you do, you'll do great. If not, good luck. Quizes and paper are easy. Kinda droans on durring class, but make sure you show up anyway
He is a very good professor. A LOT of people agree that this stat class is difficult, & it is if you don't put in all your effort. Pay attention, take good notes on lectures, ask questions during office hrs. I studied my notes while never reading the book & I got an A on all exams. He is very willing to help, just put in the effort. Do all hw!
dr. okada gives clear examples. he moves very fast and expects you to pick up all the material the first time round. he doesn't care if you come to class. there are two test for every "test" you take. the conceptual and the open book open note computational. he gives only a few homework questions. my advice DONT TAKE HIM
took him for 202 & 391 last semester, for 202 make sure to do all the hw, if you have questions show up to his office hrs & ask. he appreciates you making the effort, 391 test do the study guide, and memorize the vocab, it will help alot. And for both show up to class! Good professor you'll learn alot!
He makes a very difficult class as understandable as possible. As long as you take good notes and attend every class, you should do fine. I missed one class and it threw me off. Took a while before i could catch up. Visit his office hours, he is more than willing to help anyway he can.
This was an excellent professor. I hate stats though, and had to work my butt off for a C. but i pulled through. If you pay attention in class you'll do fine.
If you take this class seriously, it won't be that difficult. Some of the stuff will be tough to pick up right away but he's very good at explaining the material to where you can understand it. Take advantage of his office hours. Tests are just like homework assignments so if you can get that down, you should be fine.
He's the best teacher. Make sure you do HW or else there is no way you can pass. Attend every class it's not that bad, i ended up enjoying this class alot.
He is an awesome professor. One of the best I've taken in my 3 years at Fullerton. Do all the homework and I mean ALL of it. The points will definitely help a lot AND his exams are very similar to the homework. He has an open & closed exam. The closed is okay. The open is pretty straight forward and where most students score the highest.
He's very approachable and understands how to teach the concepts in a clear and precise manner! Office hours are essential to do well in this class. He is very good at what he does and the lectures are not dry. Take him!
Okada is an amazing Stats professor. This was the class I was most worried about last semester, but it ended up being the class I did the best in. He explains everything very very clearly. If you put in the effort and do your assignments, the class is actually pretty easy...He has both open and closed sections for each exams. Definitely take him!!
He is the most understanding and helpful professor that I have ever had. He is great and confident.
Great Prof. Very helpful and makes concepts easier to understand. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Very good professor. you have to work hard to understand the material and do the work, but he is there to help and does a good job of it.
I really, really like Dr. Okada. He is hands-down one of the best math/psych professors I've had yet. Stats is not an easy subject, but he makes it look incredibly simple. He meets you half-way so to speak gradewise and is very approachable for help. Absolutely take him!
He makes Stats seem easier than it is, the material he covers in his PP's compared to the text is way more helpful. You definitely have to put in a lot of time studying because it is not something you can easily retain hours before the test. He has 4 open & 4 closed tests. He made the class more enjoyable than was expecting. I would recommend him.
So, if I can say one thing is DO YOUR HOMEWORK & MAKE SURE IT IS CORRECT. He makes it easy to talk to about hw. Always at office hours grading papers. Sometimes I felt like I was bothering him but as I continued going to class and office hours, I learned that's just the way he comes off. & DONT freak if you get a bad grade on a test. DO HOMEWORK!
He's a very approachable instructor, make sure to do the homework and go over it during his office hours before turning it in. The points add up. He made stats interesting. Exams are divided between open and closed book, closed book can be a bit hard and the open is just like the homework. Easy A, I highly recommend this professor
Great professor! He actually made stats very enjoyable. Make sure to complete the homework and make sure it's right by going over it with him during office hours. The points add up and the homework is very helpful for the open portion of the exam. The closed section can be a bit difficult if you don't prepare. I highly recommend this professor!
Great professor. He made what should be an really hard class, very smooth. Explained things in such simple terms. He was VERY approachable during office hours. Such a friendly guy. Really helps his students. Tests are partitioned into 2 parts, closed book (concepts) and open book (math). Many exercises, DO THESE. Never felt overwhelmed. I recommend
These other comments must be fake or Okada writing them himself. He refuses to help you with assignments until after they are due, which hurts your grade. He gives you the answer key and expects you to understand it on your own. This is a hard class. He treated it like an upper level class. The first day he said he hates stats and you will too.
I have a difficult time with math so I knew this course would be difficult. However, having a bad professor makes it even worse. I always felt like his lectures were rushed & he would hardly stop to explain something if there was a question. Exams were 50% open note, 50% closed. Overall, I had a really hard time in this class & had to retake it.
I have always struggled with math, and this professor did not make it any easier. We were so focused on trying to write down the notes as fast as we can that by the end of class, we didn't even know what we wrote down. He doesn't explain the material well at all. I'm retaking this class with a different professor, and I'm doing so much better now.
There are 4 tests based on concepts (closed note) and 4 written tests (open note). 3/4 of the written tests were EXTREMELY similar to the exercises due on tests days. therefore, if you know how to do the exercises you should get A's on the tests because since they're open note, just refer back to the exercises. Basically do the exercises, get an A.
Loved his class. He is very organized and clear. Take him!
I had Dr. Okada for two classes: I/O 391 and Social Psych. He's a great professor. Very was going and knowledgable. If u want a good grade print out the lecture notes prior to class, and take all the notes he has on his pp, and study the study guide and you will ace it. Make sure to do your papers on time. He's a fair grader on papers. Take him!
HAD A HARD TIME DURING THE CLASS. SPEEDS THROUGH THE POWER POINTS. IS A BIT SARCASTIC WHEN YOU GO TO OFFICE HOURS. EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW THE MATERIAL OFFHAND. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
He is a very intelligent and passionate professor. He is very straightforward and clear on what he is looking for. There are 3 exams, 1 shorteasy paper and 5 pop-quizzes (open book). Do study guides and print out the outlines he has online and exams and quizzes will be a breeze. Would recommend! I had him for 201 (that's a harder class in general)
Took him for 201 and 202- idk why people complain about him on here. No professor at CSUF is more clear cut about their expectations, grading, and tests. Had 1 paper, 5 pop quizzes (on lecture material and open notes), and 3 exams (the third being the final). He posts lectures at the beginning of the semester and posts study guides with them.
Material is difficult but he explains it well. Class is not set up for failure. Homework assignments weigh more on your grade than the exams, which is a good thing.
Hate the grading system. Based on points. You can do well on all your tests (c or better) and understand the material and concepts, yet you can fail even though you didn't do 1 or 2 of your homework assignments. Stupid grading system. Was literally 1 percent away from getting a C...
His lectures are very dry and generic, he hardly gives you any practice; you basically take what you can from the lecture and each of the 6 homework exercises feel like a test, and if you don't do well on the homework it will destroy your grade, pretty counter productive I hated this class
Okada is either a love or hate professor. Says it's not a math class; forget that. It's heavily math based. If you're a fast learner, you should be fine. He speaks way too fast, so if you fall behind, be prepared to work hard to get back up. Not a first choice, but he's a good guy. Homework tended to be easy for me, but it hardly reflects the test.
Nothing other than, very hard to follow. His lectures were heavy and it was very hard to understand as he goes super fast. I wouldn't recommend him at all, do yourself a favor and go to another professor or be prepared to struggle for a barely passing grade. I'm afraid I might fail this class..
Professor Okada is nice and easy to approach, but has kind of a dry sense of humor. Attendance isn't mandatory and he posts his lectures online, but this class is very hard, especially if you have not taken a stats class before so I never missed a day. You need to pay very close attention and go to his office hours for help. Put in work and study
This class wasn't an easy one. Stats is already a very complex subject to learn so make sure that you don't miss ANY class, otherwise you will be lost. What I did to earn my B: perfect attendance & PUTTING IN THE TIME TO STUDY. He goes very fast so asking questions is essential, but will help. Although at times he can make it a bit more confusing.
if you invest time on HW an study A LOT (3 days before an exam) you can get an A. Try not to miss any points. Compare your HW with other people because one point can either make or break your grade. No textbook needed, just befriend someone who has the book for the tables. Overall, pretty just and doable class. ***take his social psych class***
TAKE HIM!! Probably the only Psych professor I've had that makes sure you understand the lecture and wants you to pass! You need his book for the tables during exams. Does not take attendance but I highly recommend showing up so you understand lecture to pass also prepared for 202! Would take again if he taught 202
Super chill, very helpful. You can always check homework in office hours before turning it in, so always a guaranteed A, if you put in the effort. He lets you use a cheat sheet on the tests. Lectures are clear and powerpoints are provided online. Some extra credit opportunities. 10/10, would recommend.
Grade based on three tests and two essays. Pretty easy grader on the essays, as long as you put in some effort. Tests include short answer questions, but everything is pretty straightforward. Tests are based completely off the lectures, so you don't need the book if you take notes. Offers extra credit last week of the semester.
Amazing professor!! Overall, this class is an easy A if you pay attention and compare your homework with him during office hours. He allows you a cheat sheet on the equation part of the exam which really helps. He also drops the lowest exam score.
Prof. Okada was amazing! Take 8 tests (4 with 2 parts each and he drops the lowest test score), do 7-8 homework exercises, and work on SPSS (statistics program). Take good notes, he allows cheat sheets on half of his tests! Overall, a very intelligent, understanding guy.
Great Professor, make sure to take him
Professor Okada is a really laid back guy and makes sure his students know what theyre expected to know. Make sure to do the homework and go have him check it during office hours! If you do bad on tests, the homework is really gonna save you!
lectures are confusing
Closed book concept exams were hard! He drops one of your lowest grades. Allows a cheat sheet for open book section of the exam. Homework is 40% of your grade so do it and get it corrected at his office hours before turning it in so you get full points! HW is very similar to open book exam. Gives extra credit problems on the last two homeworks.
Professor Okada is a really cool guy. His lecture is somehow confusing, his joke is dry but he did give opportunities to students that are hard-working and try to get improve. Self-study a lot and make sure you check homework with him during his office hours. Homework is really important because it takes up to 43%.
One of my favorite classes from the year. Some concepts were a little difficult to understand, but Prof. Okada was always very constructive and helpful after class and during office hours. He drops the lowest test score and gives lots of extra credit opportunities in the end of the year. Wish he taught more stats classes tbh
Professor Okada is an amazing teacher. If you go to his office hours to get your exercises checked he will help you. He will help you understand the information better if you take the time to see him. He has 4 exams along with homework but your notes help you solve the homework problems. I recommend him! Take him!
Okada is super easy when grading papers and essay questions on exams. He understands that not everyone is an English major, or upper division Psych major. No quizzes, just exams. Each exam is usually 50 multiple choice, 2 short answers, and based off his lectures. He even said save yourself money and not get the textbook. He wants you to pass.
