Preiss is a great teacher, dont listen to that idiot over there; indeed he or she failed 2 of his exams, so maybe instead of bull****ting like Pace students do, he/she should have studied;

If you cant get at least a C in this class, you don't deserve to be at Pace.

Tests are unbelievably easy - right from the review. Plus he is really helpful. Tells a lot of corny jokes and doesn't give a break in a 2 hr class. If you pay attention, there is no way you will get anything below an A.

Don't get textbook. I never cracked it open. Problems are written on board or given in handouts. Pay attention in class. Study from handouts/notes.

If your good with math then this class shouldn't be a problem as long as you find time to study on your own. If you always hated math then this class may be rather difficult as the material will not be discussed over and over. Don't expect an easy A ever.

He may not be the "coolest" prof but he is VERY willing to help if you fall behind or just need an accomodation--and I needed quite a few. He is extremely assistive when it comes to flexibility for the student.

He is one of the best and nicest math professors at Pace University. He might go very fast in class, but he will stop and assist you when asked. He gives review and equation sheets for your own benefit. Very helpful. Text rarely needed.

DON'T BUY THE BOOK. And don't bother studying formulas for the final, he'll give you EVERYTHING YOU NEED. Teaches by giving LOTS of examples. Shows up 5-10 min. late every time, no breaks, and ends class 5-10 min. late EVERY TIME. Pay attention or you'll get severely LOST. Otherwise, good prof.

Good teacher. Exams are fair, but long. Gives lots of good examples, and is always willing to work with you outside of class. He really works with you to pass.

*DONT BUY BOOK* O.k professor, but don't fall behind or the class will be difficult. His test(s) are much harder than his review problems so keep that in mind, and they are a bit to long. For calc, study up on the algebra and try to stay ahead of the professor because he moves quickly. Take his class in 1 hour blocks, or you will get frustrated.

HE IS BY FAR THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAD AT PACE. HE AROUSED MY CURIOUSITY AND STIMULATED ME IN THE SUBJECT MATTER

A little out there, but an overall good teacher. Will explain anything if you ask. Make sure you read the book, it helps a lot as some of his explanations are confusing. Study but more importantly pay attention in class, and you will be fine.

This teacher teaches real old school. His quizes have alot of termanology. Confusing class. But if you ask for help from him or tutoring, you can will fine with his class.

Well, not a good nor bad prof, he's in between, not that bad to take him, just that you will have to really pay attention in class or else you would be lost, he teaches the material well, but sometimes too much jammed together and it made me confused~ But if you are willing to ask him for help, I think he is more than happy to help~

This math professor was the best I've taken so far at Pace. He really explains the material, and even on the final he was explaining materail for the slower students who were still confused. He is not easy though, and yes he goes off subject, but just pay attention do hw and you'll pass.

Never actually looks at the class, always looking up or has his eyes closed while talking. Tries to throw in corny jokes while he is teaching. He's okay but not the best. Gives tests in one hour classes that are long!! He does tell you what topics are on the test though. Will help you if you go to his office hours.

One of the best and I mean best Professors at Pace.I have never been in a class with so many retarded people.Math is made simple by Dr Preiss. He really cares,and goes so out of his way to help everyone.He is a caring professor. His jokes made me wet my pants they were so good.Most of my classmates just didnt get them.tells you how smart they are!

Crazy man, he really is, but he is hilarious. He does make corny jokes but they are soo funny. I feel bad, no one laughs, and when he asks questions, no one answers. Poor guy, but hes really easy. He gives a lot of take home tests and tells you what is on them. He's a good guy

I agree with the last post. He's a really good teacher but he expects it his way. When teaching, he's clear and drills you on theory. Tests are not difficult and he tries hard to help ALL his students. Overall good guy. Oh, and those posts on his "corny" jokes are totally true - you'll see, though they prevents you from falling asleep.

Took him for MAT 104, 111, and 117. If you want to learn take him, he is a great professor. As long as you follow his notes and pay attention in class, the tests are straight from the notes. If you do bad in this class you're an idiot, and don't blame the professor for your stupidity.

TAKE HIM. Although the class might seem REALLY long, he goes over EVERYTHING and gives you REVIEW SHEETS. I used to textbook once during his class. Def. TAKE HIM.

As long as you are present in class and have the notes-- studying for the exams are a breeze and he is very fair and keeps you updated on your grade. I thought he was the most clear math professor I've ever had. I am very happy I had him and he has made me realize that I don't hate math as much as I thought I did.

excellent calculus and statistics professor!!! you'll actually learn!! exams are just like pre-test only numbers are different!!!.class is 1 hr and hakf but it goes by fast because he teach!!!he's not hard but still a great teacher

He turned me on to Statistics.Very good teacher knows how to motivate his students.Tests are not easy but he taught so well that I appreciated his methods.He's a real stud.

First, you shouldn't rely on those math tutors at Pace, they aren't helpful, they have to think longer than you do. Can never catch up with your thoughts fast enough, they're getting paid by doing their own HW. 2. Do all practice problems will help you pass this course, and ask question, don't play cool, no one is laughing at you.

He can be very stubborn and selfish. Sometimes he has an attitude problem. Usually he is a good guy.

He may be hard to understand at times but he is a good teacher. He is available when needed and his exams reflect exactly what he teaches. As long as you take good notes and study you should do fine.

BEST MATH PROFESSOR I'VE HAD AT PACE. HE HAS STUPID JOKES (AND HE KNOWS IT) BUT EXPLAINS THE MATERIAL VERY WELL, THE EXAMS ARE NO SURPRISE. HE GIVES A "PRACTICE EXAM" WHICH IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ACTUAL EXAMS. HE'S VERY HELPFUL.

fair professor. exams are ridiculously long, but fair. practice exams are given prior to exam day. questions are the same, but with different numbers. homework is out of textbook and is given pretty regularly. fairly easy class, but really makes you earn your grade. lectures run past the allotted class time. be prepared for lots of preiss jokes.

Great professor! Very nice and down to earth. Hands out same tests before the test, which are really the same questions but different numbers.

Incredibly knowledgeable about stats, highly recommend him if you are am econ major, will give you a solid base for econometrics and Eco 400. He is not very friendly until he gets to know you, then he is extremely nice and helpful. The material is hard though and you have to study.

Prof. Preiss is a great teacher with CLEAR requirements. On the very first class he says that hw and lectures are "snowballing", so it's better not to miss the class and do the hw every week (better for you! TRUST ME!!!) Participation is not mandatory, though. He gives samples of the each testexam which are 99% same to the actual testsexams.

Let's be realistic most students do not belong at Pace University Not to mention that they don't have any mathematical abilities. with Professor Preiss you will learn a lot. He is caring charismatic, charming, and intelligent. He is the ideal. Do not take him if you want to F around because that is what he will give you.. The Best in the Math Dept

Preiss is something else... He is always making jokes and analogies which I personally appreciated but, most people got frustrated by him. He gives a ton of work, a test every other week, Excel projects and homework due every week. He's good about reviewing everything for his super long exams but the final really threw me... Go to his reviews!!!

Professor Preiss is a genuinely kind-hearted, hard-working professor. He's one of the very few greatest professors in Pace University. Before I took him, Math seemed very nerve wracking to me; but he made it interesting and he takes his time to help those, who are willing to help themselves. He does make you work for your grade though. Be prepared.

Extremely caring and hilarious!! A lot of projects/tests (4 each) but it's manageable. Just do all your homework and projects and for the tests, you'll get a sample test (with answers). The tests are exactly like the sample ones except some numbers and words are switched around.

I miss judged him the previous semester and I took his class by accident. However, it was a happy one, he knows the math and he loves math, period. He is not lazy at all. He explains the lesson very thoroughly and is not expecting the student to know everything. Therefore, he does not skip any obvious step in any problem. Patience is him.

He's the only good professor at pace's math department. definitely take him if you dont usually have an easy time with math but want to understand the content. tests are kinda long though, but very fair with what he teaches in class.

Considering Pace's math department, Preiss is a gem. He genuinely wants the class to do well and is very accessible outside of class. He gives sample exams which are almost identical to the real exam. I have always struggled with math am a C student in math, but in his class I got a B which says a lot. Wish there were more like him.

A lot of these ratings dont acurately reflect Professor Priess. He is easily a top 3 math professor at pace. If you the chance to take him, do it. Some people may get annoyed by his jokes but he makes a genuine effort to make math engaging. He also systematically breaks things so the everything is easy to understand.

if you are used to take math. he will change the way you think of math. 3 hour class will go so quick because he is funny and explain things slowly and repeatedly, absolutely respectful. never had any problem with anyone. just take him

TAKE THIS CLASS! He gives practice tests and a practice final exam extremely similar to the real tests. If you work hard you will definitely pass. He doesn't try to trick or surprise you. Lectures are... interesting/entertaining... but you can easily teach yourself. Extremely accessible outside of class. He says attendance matters but not really.

Nice guy, very clear teaching, not too much homework nor is he test or project heavy. Tries to make math as interesting as he can and is very silly sometimes. I hate math but going to his class Ive been doing better than I have in past and dont dread it as much.
