hardest teacher in sierra collge
don't listen to the person that says she's the hardest teacher, she isn't. if you take notes, pay attention, and read the chapters AND AREN'T LAZY you will do great. but you do really have to study. the class was a lot of work but very good. she knows her stuff, and teaches it well.
Awesome teacher, very nice and willing to work with you. I also had her for nutrition and loved it. You have to work but you learn alot and its not really hard.
Decent teacher, but has a quick temper. If you disagree with her or find her in the wrong, bite your tongue. She does not grade objectively. It is impossible to calculate your own grade because she shifts the total points based on your participation and "extra credit"
Tough class, but you will learn. Read EVERYTHING. What ever she puts on the board WILL be on the test. Excellent teacher.
This nutrition class seemed more like a science class than I expected. With as much info learned it should have more units like a science class. Great teacher, but take her class over a regular semester. I had it duing summer and that was too much info in too few class days!! She is a little touchy about people questioning her,but not too bad.
Professor M is great for making otherwise dull information fascinating. Her classes were loud and fun. The tests were very difficult and the homework was pretty extensive, but helpful in getting a good grade.
Even though this class is very hard, I think she is a great teacher. She explains things very thoroughly and goes over them multiple times in different ways to make them more understandable. You do have to work hard, but she gives you the tools you need to get a good grade.
She is a nice teacher but her tests are really hard and you really have to work to get a B in the class.
She is an excellent teacher, but VERY difficult. I usually have no problem getting good grades with some effort, but she really makes you work for this one. Her tests are exceptionally hard as well.
phd. ha ha she acts like she knows what she is talking about but a lot of it is BS. although she is a nice lady.
This class was moderately hard. Certainly harder than your "fluff" classes like Sociology and Philiosophy, but nowhere near as hard as your lab sciences like Anatomy and Microbiology. I found most of the class very interesting, and she gave lots of extra credit assignments in case you weren't doing well on the tests.
Nutrition is a pretty boring subject, so I think she did a decent job with what she had to work with. Could have been more professional in treating jocks and the rest of us equally.
She's great. Not only did I take her and love her, but everyone else I know that had her also enjoyed her class. There's nothing on tests that she doesn't forewarn you about -- if you read and pay attention, you'll do FINE! Seriously, ANYONE can get at least a B in her class.
Very nice, tons of extra credit available. As long as you listen to her lectures you will pass. Interesting.
This teacher is very helpful. She is very organize. I reccommend her as a teacher.
She's a DR. She's very smart. She expects you to know everything about nutrition. If you want an easy A: DONT TAKE HER. But if your willing to do some hard work and really learn about nutrition then take her she is an AWESOME teacher, BUT only if you really want to learn a whole lot! She offers tons of extra credit so easy to keep grade up!
she is so cute and has a great humor. so many opportunites for extra credit. the tests are directly from her lecture. but it is easy if you pay attention. the tests were difficult for some people but if you are a good student, the tests wont give you a problem. such a great person and she is very interesting. i highly recomend her

This was a great class. A lot of information presented, but Professor Mukutmoni made it manageable. A few tests (not so easy), 5 point weekly quizzes (open book), and a diet analysis project. She offers so much extra credit though its impossible to not do well, so take advantage of it! I did all extra credit available and got a fairly easy A.
The most incompetent teacher I have ever had. I have an A in the class, but with so many frustrations. She constantly forgets to post the exams (this was an on-line class)and then lies about it and says that the students just didn't see them. I had a few papers where she didn't give me points just because she forgot to look on page 2. Just awful !!
i love her. she has a phd in this subject. very smart, nice, and approachable. class is pretty easy if you study. gets a little bit into bio-chem, so be prepared non-science majors. there is one big project that is super easy and she gives you plenty of time to do. relates to your own life. take this class :)
she was amazing teacher she was very helpful and she was funny and gives you all the notes for the class just pay attention and do the little bit of home work and you will do fine for the test i would take her again
good class, horrible instructor. Being she is a vegan and i did a presentation on the cons of veganism she gave me an F for the course when i currently had a B in the class. I petitioned the grade and wound up with the B that i had the whole semester. Very bias and will stab you in the back if you get on her nerves.
Extremely picky teacher with tons of aggravating pointless assignements meant to take up hours and hours of your time just because she can because she has a PH. Fing D. Go do something with it don't teach.
Very tough tests and a lot of homework. She can teach you a lot, but skip the class if you are looking for an easy A.
Tough class, lots of quiz's and work, not an easy A if that's what you're looking for
I took this class online and while the work was extremely easy, the instructor irritated me. She is so far behind in grading the assignments - the class is over and she still hasn't graded stuff from week 5. I think this is unfair to the students, we had no idea where we stood before going to take the final. She's lazy, but easy.
I agree with the previous comments about her grading timelines. It's true, it does take her forever and we didn't have all our stuff graded before our final. This made it hard to know where you stood on the grading spectrum. Weekly assignments were fun! There are weekly quizes, which are easy. The tests are pretty hard though! Good luck!
shes not that helpful and also favors the a+ students. dont take her if ur looking for a fun easy class. really boring way of teaching...and she goes on and on about one thing. dont take her.
Professor Mukutmoni means well but she's just not prepared enough. She spends most of the class time going over the same material. She does un-needed "walk throughs" showing students how to use BB or the online tool kit needed for class. She is meaning to help but treats all students as if fresh out of highschool, very "micromanaged."
I took this as an online class. The content was fine, but the instructor addresses students like children while she's telling them that they're in college. She gives grading criteria and samples AFTER assignments are due. I found it ironic that she criticizes grammar and spelling in broadcast emails, while making grammar and spelling mistakes.
I took Nutrition 10 and received an A. The book was highly interesting, easy to read. She is passionate, clear, and very nice. She offers plenty of extra credit and communicates via email announcements to remind you. She is one of the best professors out there. God bless her. =)Show her respect and she will show you respect. No texting.
NEVER would I recomend her.... EVER!!!!!!!
Dr M. is a very good teacher. I sat in the class listen to a bunch of whiners and watched them playing on their cell phones. Dr M teaches very well. concise/helpful Her door was always open for questions. If people don't like it, it's because they thought it was going to be a bird course,or taking it just for credits. She teaches well. I got a B
Took this class online. Enjoyed this professor and class. Learned a lot about nutrition.
Dr.M was very informative in her lectures and her notes provide everything you need to know for the test. Tests were all short answer except the final. Very fun class, and very interesting. I honestly feel like I learned something new each day. Definitely take this class!
Wonderful teacher. Engaging lectures and very few homework assignments. And when they're given they're simple and can be finished in a few minutes. The tests are very easy if you do the study guide, almost all the content come directly from there. I never used the textbook and got an A.
Her 17 page syllabus alone speaks volumes (control issues)c- she basically doesn't want to hear from you! Our entire class was terrified to contact her. Quizzes - YOU CANNOT GO BACKWARDS - so, once you begin, be sure of your answers and write down your calculations as you WILL NOT get the chance to review them. AVOID THIS MESS AT ALL COSTS!
She is a good teacher. Take notes and print the powerpoints and you will be good. she is pretty cool.
Loved her! Took this class online. I didn't like that the weeks overlap, you have to stay on top of it or else it will seem like a lot of work. Tests and quizzes are closed book. Some discussion boards and the other weeks are a simple paper or assignment. Good class and learned a lot. She was helpful over email and in person.
This is the second time I have attempted to take her class. She is incompetent and struggles to use the COMPUTER on a DAILY basis. I did not open my book one time and managed to receive a B. Except when I went to check my final grade, it said 'F'. And quite honestly, I don't even have the patience or energy to go in and deal with her mistake.
1.Have no understanding to student's emergency. 2. expects students to have no errors on using computer based homeworks, but she gets hard time using her own computer during the lecture time. 3. There will be no teacher- student relationship. just an employ and a paying customer relationship.
I absolutely love her. she is very easy and loves answering peoples question. she loves to different different points of views and her grading is moderate. we have about 4 test and she gives you a sheet to study in and about 2-3 weeks to study for the test. RECOMMEND ALL THE WAY!!!
Nice teacher and knows her stuff but doesn't prepare you well for her tests AT ALL. Was a 4.0 student before taking her class and worked very hard on study guides only to be blindsided by questions not addressed in her lectures or study guide. Would not recommend this class if you're looking for an easy grade.
Very hard class, avoid her if possible. She assigns 3 page essay worth only 15-20 points. Quizzes are 5-10 and tests are 100. The amount of work is crazy. She has mistakes all over canvas and her syllabus. She doesn't respond to emails quickly and sometimes she never does. Worst teacher I have had at Sierra. She just doesn't care about the student.
she is a HUGE push over in class but does not teach you what is on the test. she always flirts with the boys and does not give nearly enough information.
She is a vegetarian and somewhat pushes you and guilts you into that..Unless your willing to keep up with the independent online work, then take it in class. Takes forever grading assignments. Otherwise, great instructor as far as easy to get a hold of and willing to work with you.
Her lectures are very long and unorganized. Expect to have extremely long tests that will have alot of questions that weren't on the study guide.
She basically read off the slides and called it a lecture. The tests are incredibly hard and feature fill in the blanks with no word bank. There's more busy work than anything in this class. Do not recommend taking it.
Not a very understanding professor. Was a stickler in her (SUPER LONG) syllabus about grammar, but all of her horrific powerpoint lectures were loaded with basic errors. Her Powerpoint and Word skills are lacking. I will say that any assignments aside from tests she was an easy grader, unless you submit them out of order, then automatic FAIL.
This class was totally backwards to me. She would have us go home and read the chapter over the weekend, then when we got into the class she would give us a quiz on the chapter, and then she would teach us about the chapter. And the quiz would only relate to her notes that she teaches you after the quiz. she needs to change her teaching methods.
Power points are on canvas. Study those and read the chapters. She gives a lot of quizzes that do affect your grade.
Everything is on canvas. Theres just a lot of quizzes so just make sure you're there. It is one of those teachers that assigns a lot of work, but in small points that adds up. So it can hurt your grade of you're not on top of things.
She's a great teacher, it's an easy A as long as you show up and do the homework (which there isn't very much of). No textbook, only a few tests, mostly multiple choice, and easy if you do some studying. She's quick to respond to emails and is ready to help if you don't understand an assignment. I would definitely recommend her.
Long lectures and lots of reading to do at home. Long study guides and power point slides to study/go over that are not always the easy to understand. Long online quizzes and longer in class tests. Not an easy A at all, but not a bad professor either. Very knowledgeable & passionate about nutrition, & lets you know her personal opinion at times.
I highly recommend taking this course with a different instructor! I took the course in person & online. Her criteria is ridiculous and it seems that she doesn't want you to pass . You forget 1 question she gives a zero. I have graduated with 2 college degrees & went back to for fun & I have never had an instructor like this even at a University.
Mithia is very lecture heavy. However she is great at what she teaches and will always stop to ask if you have questions. She is very caring and if you need any help she will set time aside to help you. Be prepared for the test, and study. Or you will fail.
I took this as a 4-week summer class. Dr. Mukutmoni gives very detailed study guides for the exams, as well as great PowerPoints that cover most of the key concepts. Complete the study guides and the tests will be ok. She has very strict guidelines on assignments, but as long as you read the instructions and check your work, you will be fine.
Unaproachable, condescending, not clear. worst professor I have had. If you ask questions or do not understand the material, she will give you grief about it in front of the class and WILL NOT go over/repeat anything. Only get 30 seconds per question on quizzes and exams that are about 30-75 questions. Assignments MUST be done EXACTLY how she wants
I would not suggest taking her. She is very unorganized. She isn't clear about instructions. She will tell you one thing and expect something else. You have to turn in work exactly how she wants it or you will get a zero.
She gets irritated if you don't agree wit her her. She will give you a 0 just bc you have missed one thing(on many of her assignments). Very unorganized on notes and her instructions. Her tests require 75Q multiple choice and 25pt written part. There's a project and it's a bit confusing. 3 big tests. Her class was ok.
I took her class online. It would frustrate me greatly when she would have a sizable mail in project due by Saturday and then have a 2 page paper due on Friday. She did this twice. She is also very particular about how she wants assignments done and her tests are insanely hard.
An awesome instructor very clear in whats expected do your assignments and show up you will pass. very organised. very helpful. best part is how organised she is made the class easy to pass. if you don't like structure and clear instructions don't take this class. didn't get an A because im dumb and don't study for tests. or take good notes.
This online class was very hard to follow. No clear directions and test didnt follow what we were reading. No communication from the teacher. She was hard to contact and didnt email back.
If you are a good student, take good notes and don't miss class, you should be fine. She expects a lot out of you, her tests aren't easy. However I did enjoy her class. This isn't an easy A, you have to put forth the effort, no matter who you take. She won't except late work, and will give you a zero if its not 100% complete. Lots of extra credit
My learning and grade suffered due to Mithia. Her disorganization made expectations unclear. Grammatical/spelling errors in exams/assignments made questions cloudy (hypocrisy as we weren't allowed mistakes). Questions worded poorly - sometimes correct answers weren't an option. Wrong due dates provided. Homework wasn't meaningful, but LOTS of it.

Questions she ask on projects are unclear and sometimes pointless. Everything has to be done her way. She gives major attitude when asked to repeat things and thinks she is always right. She assigns chapter outlines that make no sense to do because her lectures are pretty much her outline for the chapter but you have to do it for a grade anyways.
Most of the tests are poorly worded making the answer seem difficult , however its just her confusing way of explaining and formulating questions. Although she seems like a nice lady at first, she is terrible at working with people and her unclear expectations will leave you frustrated. Unless you have no other choice, find another teacher.
She is not kidding about giving zeros on discussion boards if you do not comment back to the right amount of people. She is a hard teacher with lots of work but manageable if you stay on track. Plan to work extra hard to get an A or B.
Awesome Professor! She gives very clear lectures, and does the most to ensure her students pass. She is very thorough and a very nice person. Loved her!
It is awful class
Her directions are nonsense; lots of busywork; unwilling to cooperate; unclear directions; messy/disorganized class; her way or the highway; pointless directions that are for her benefit only (in grading??); unfair grader. DO NOT take her summer course; find another professor. There are WAY better professors out there.
DO NOT TAKE HER PRINCIPLES OF NUTRITION (NUT10) ONLINE COURSE. This professor is by far the worst I have ever had and I have been in college for over 4 years. She assigns an incredible amount of busy work and her lecture powerpoints are so disorganized and 'busy' which makes it very hard to read. Quizzes are ridiculous and she never returns emails
The NUTF14 online class has been awful. Very unclear with desires, unclear ppt lectures, no feedback. The worst thing is the chapter quizzes- an excruciating limited amount of time to finish on quite involved questions, correct answers are only available for 12 hours which is terrible for study resource, mean scores for quizzes show lack of care.
This teacher is one of the worst I've had. Shes very snappy and rude. Her power points are all over the place, I have to take notes twice on the same power point just to make sure every thing is ACTUALLY organized. She offers extra credit and takes it back. She will mark you down for anything. You only have seconds on quiz questions.
The only reason I got an A in her class is because I took several bio classes. The way she lectures its like she assumes you know this stuff. Assigns crazy amount of pointless assignments. Posts study guide one day before the final and half the stuff isnt even on there. No clarity in instructions for projects. Terrible.
She likes to make you jump through hoops and fail you, no matter how much work you put into an assignment. She has ridiculous criteria, that has nothing to do with the content of the reports, or the class. Worst professor I've had to date. She is not there to make you successful. I regret this class with this professor.
If you're looking for an easy A with no effort, keep looking. If you're passionate about nutrition & want a prof who is passionate about what she teaches, you've found your class! Dr. M has awesome video/ppt lectures for her online classes. She is clear about grading criteria and due dates, and her class is very well organized. I learned so much!
The only reason I was able to even understand what she was trying to say is bc ive taken chem, physio, anatomy, & micro. This is nothing more than a "Doctor" teaching at a jr college. Taught myself the entire class. She makes NO SENSE and expects you to act like you're a nutrition major. There are other options, use them. This is 3 units. Not 5.
I took her nutrition class and I LOVED her. She was by far my favorite instructor, she made class so fun. I felt she really went over the material well, as I never once cracked open my textbook. DO the extra credit, you'll be glad, and it's not that hard. The tests were moderately difficult, but everything on them was covered in lecture.
This professor is very vague in what she expects and doesn't clear things up much when you email her. Her grammar in assignments and on tests are not always great either and can skew the understanding of what she means. You don't get much time for online tests, and I have felt rushed every single time. Overall, very frustrating professor.
Nutrition shouldn't be a hard class, or at least as hard as this professor made it. Especially if you're freshman, look out. Just take another professor for this class & save yourself the extra stress. If you're looking for an easy A or B even C, run the other way...
I found this class to be interesting and informative. As long as you do the work and follow her rubric you will be fine. My only complaint is, she sometimes comes off a little bit rude but I also know sometimes communication through online sources can be misinterpreted.
I learned a lot of useful information in this class and I am so happy that I took it. The quizzes and tests were very straightforward and based on the lectures. Dr. M is a great teacher if you like a structured class, and she is very specific with her criteria. Dr. M is overall an amazing and caring teacher, and made the class very enjoyable!
Great professor. Not too much homework. Took test weekly but some only had 5 questions. Learned a lot in this class.
Worst Professor I have had thus far, how we are addressed in class emails is unprofessional, the times allowed for quizzes taken online are unreasonable when you have multiple students on different levels when it comes to the math, yet she expects that every student can complete 10 questions in 10 minutes when 4 of the 10 are require scratch paper.
This class was very lecture heavy, as each class consisted of at least an hour long lecture EVERY SINGLE DAY. Lectures were quite boring as well, and felt non interactive. This class educated me about nutrition but it was no fun at all. I thought tests were too long and hard as the tests would conist of 50+ questions each time from multiple chapter
Terrible
Very lecture heavy class, prof is unorganized and can be condescending towards students. Homework was easy and tests were hard, instructions were unclear at times. Lots of grammar/spelling mistakes on tests/homework. I didn't find the class too hard, it just wasn't the most exciting class.
Just awful. She is so disorganized and gives out confusing instructions on assignments and makes you pay for it. Long boring lectures all the time as well. For someone who's been teaching for 20 years you really can't tell because of how poorly she teaches the material. Beware!
Most boring lectures ever, doesn't reply to emails so don't even bother. The tests are super long, like 50 questions. She gives way too many instructions and wants things submitted a certain way that doesn't work for Mac computers. She clearly doesn't use Mac. I would not take her class again. Awful and rude professor.
"Dr. M" is the worst professor I've had thus far; she would probably be more useful in a high school setting. SOOO condescending and rude when I would try to ask questions or clarify a point in the lecture. Nitpicky about grading yet only gives one chance to turn things in. She was also at least 5-10 minutes late to EVERY unorganized lecture given.
Although I only got a B in this class, I would take her class again in a heartbeat!! She lectures daily and she runs a tight ship with her class. She is very caring and wants to see her students succeed. Attending class is mandatory because you learn a lot every day. She is a very tough grader too. She is my favorite teacher at Sierra.
