She is a great teacher. If you ask she explains everything over and over again. Quizes prepare you for tests and are pretty easy. The class itself isn't easy and you really have to study, but she makes it easier. She is also very nice and friendly. If you have to take a chemistry, I strongly reccomend this teacher.

She is a good teacher. It is a hard subject and she gives you a lot of material to help you understand the subject. The worksheets supplement the book and definitely prepare you for the exams and quizes. I recomned this teacher if you want to learn the subject.

Mitra is real chill. Her quiz questions are from worksheets and homework. Exam questions are mostly covered in worksheets she gives in class or during lectures she tells you "this is a potential exam question". Her exams are fair. She knows a lot and likes to tell you everything she knows, but overall a fun class if you want to learn.

Before I took her class, I heard her classes are very hard, her lecture is ambiguous, and she is very strict. I took her CHM111/112. It's true that she is strict on class manner, but her lecture is clear, and she is always willing to help you. I like her enthusiasm.

Great teacher! Chemistry isn't easy, so you're going to have to study and she is willing to help any way she can. I recommend printing out her power point lectures and taking notes on them in class. I came to NOVA not knowing about the standards. I think of NOVA as a highly prestigious place because of the chemistry course I took. It was very impressive the way the lectures were presented. Not a dull moment in the class. We were kept on our toes the entire summer. A perfect learning experience!

I only had her for lab. I don't know how she is in lecture. My lab reports were always super detailed. That's probably why I got an A. She has an accent that is sometimes hard to understand. When you ask her a question, she answers, but with this very intimidating look. Do not say anything while she's explaining because she will get really mad!

Prof Mahanjeri is really a sweet woman. Somewhat difficult to follow if you don't print out the notes (which was a problem for me because printing out the notes doesn't help me learn) but if you pick up chemistry easily she's awesome. Many online quizzes, 4 big tests. Not super impossible to get an AB in.

I have been at NOVA for a year and this is by far my favorite class. Prof. Jahangeri is really good at explaining difficult concepts and uses a variety of methods for explaining them. Professor Jahangeri is really good at teaching chemistry with a practical approach. Exams are so easy! If math is not your strength, you are in luck. Chemistry by nature is a math extensive subject, but she avoids any necessary math. I am a computer science major, so I think in equations. The class I took was only six weeks. I think she did a wonderful job of delivering the material without making it overwhelming. She gave 4 exams , a final, and all quizzes were online. It was an easy class. 20% 10 of 12 quizzes (drops 2 lowest), 40% 4 quizzes, 15% final exam, lab 25%. It is easy to get an A if you do labs and study a little bit.

This was not an easy course but she explained everything to me during her office time. I asked questions in class and in lab and she was always helpful. I wish she could teach the same schedule for Chemistry 112, I would take the course with her in a heartbeat.

This review is for Lecture - 'Cares about your education' is one phrase that describes this professor perfectly. She is always willing to help outside of class, and responds to emails quickly. Quizzes after each chapter that are taken online outside of class - these will help your overall grade. Great professor, great person, I'd take again.

My favorite professor. Nice, knowledgeable, and respected. The online classes are really difficult but she handles it very well. She stops after one or two slides and lets students ask their questions. her tests are not heavy if you study and listen to her lecture. She is always happy to help students to get better grades. I had this professor for CHM111 lab and she was overall a good choice. Sometimes her explanations can be a little confusing but since it is a lab and not a lecture it was alright. Her grading criteria was very clear and although she was a bit particular about how you do things, she was pretty fair.

Amazing professor! She is always happy to help students. Never get tired of asking her the same question over and over... She makes sure you understand. You won't regret taking her for CHM 111 and 112.

I highly recommend Professor Jahangeri. Her lectures are excellent and really help you understand the material. I honestly did not expect to enjoy this class, but I did. Her office is almost always open. There is really not much work outside of class that is required besides quizzes. Be careful though, she will not accept any late work.

Forget all these reviews!! if you came to see how she is, she is AMAZING. her lectures are awesome, she explains everything really well! You can ask questions as many times as you want and she will explain it just as many times as it takes for you to understand :) Her exams are only hard if you don't study or pay attention in class.

She is a very nice lecture professor. You have 4-5 exams and one final exam. The final exam covers everything and replaces your lowest exam grade. There are quizzes for each unit, but you get two attempts. Watch the lectures on time, take notes, do the study guides and homework problems for each chapter, and you should be fine.

Very easy professor, ignore ratings stating otherwise. Lectures and homework are optional. Lectures are very easy to follow and she is always eager to answer questions. If you show up to class and do the occasional homework you will do fine. The people who complained about failing didn't show up to lectures and wanted a free handout.

She is very good at explaining and is always willing to help her students out whenever they need her. She is always happy to answer questions for anyone! For tests, I recommend going over the homework quizzes as well as the textbook quizzes! Honestly, if you pay attention and show up, you'll do fine!

Class was pretty straightforward. Pay attention in lectures and the quizzes and you're pretty much set. Lectures kind of drag on, and you have to participate in them. But nothing too crazy. She's nice, and very easily accessible during her office hours.

Very kind hearted professor. She is super organized and gives you all the material you need to succeed. Sometimes her explanations can be confusing, but she tries her best. Attend class, take notes, complete the quizzes and study guides and you should pass with flying colors! Super accessible outside of class. (Tests have 13-18 Qs, each 3-7 points)

She's alright, she is accessible outside class and has an extra credit system. If you just read the sildes and go through the study guides before tests, you are set. She is nice and would def recommend her. The tests are not that hard, they are pretty easy imo

Took her for lecture. She was very nice but had a quiet lecture voice. The quizzes were easier than her exams and also made for a good cushion. Her lectures style can be a bit confusing and rough, so only take her if you don't mind watching a lot of videos on YT to help you learn. Also she had practice exams to do.

She was very nice and overall her class was of average difficulty, she provides a decent cushion with extra credit and online tests. The exams were reasonable and she's provides a lot of resources. Lectures were a bit confusing but if you use other videos you will be set. Just don't slack off.

I thought she was reasonable in teaching the material considering chem is a difficult subject. She's cool with people asking a lot of questions and encourages classroom participation. Her test are very similar to study guides and her lectures PowerPoint. Go to class and study a fair amount and you should be expecting a decent grade.

Professor J. was great, she's nice although sometimes she was a little passive aggressive but overall she was fine. She tried to help us as much as she could. The quizzes for this class you are able to take twice and your lowest quiz grade is dropped. The final can replace your lowest test grade if it is higher and all the test are curved.

Decent lectures. Class was not too difficult.

Textbook is not needed at all for this class since its only used for the homework which is optional. While attendance is not mandatory I do recommend actually going to the lectures since she goes over multiple examples and encourages participation through a clicker system. Tests are easier than the quizzes and the final was like the study guide.
