Do not waste your time with her.
Bad bad bad! Her method to teaching is horrific, and she has a heavy accent that confuses you. She doesn't explain what she does most of the time and when you ask a question she thinks you're stupid. She makes you hate math!!!
Really easy. Shows you proofs for theorems. A lot of people complain because they don't know what logic is. Funny and will go out of her way to help you. If you're math or science major, TAKE HER!
Great teacher! she is a bit cute/corcky and funny. But over all she is VERY helpful, i have never had a professor as helpful as her and that really cares like her. and c'mon the accent is NOT that bad.
I went to all her office hours and spend 5 hours a night studying for her class on my own and ended up getting a W in her class. She really stinks at teaching. She's not personable. For everything she writes on the board she says is this okay? She'll make you hate math. Don't take her.
I honestly do not know why people even bother making comments when they don?t know even what they are talking about. Professor Navab is one of the greatest instructors at Pierce. She is patient and always willing to help, very approachable. Take her you won?t regret it.
The best teacher
She plays favorites. Do not take her because if she doesn't like you, you will not get better than a C. Also has horrible accent that you can't even understand.
She has no English skills. Do not take her unless you already know the subject or can teach yourself because you won't understand a word she says with her accent. Bad teacher and bad attitude
Worst math teacher ever. She cannot speak English very well so you will have a difficult time understanding her. I had a B going into the final, but her hard final dropped me to a C. Do not take her.
Navab is not the friendliest of teachers. She has extremely hard tests that are not similar to her quizzes. Tests you on what is not taught in class, not to mention the final was impossible. Do not take her.
Hard class and a uncaring teacher. Tests are nothing like what she teaches. Tricky tests, don't take her. Bad accent.
Very hard class. Does not prepare you for what is going to be on her quizzes. Talks to herself. Not helpful. Take someone else.
Not a caring individual. She has extremely hard tests and her final will most definitely lower you by a letter grade. Horrible accent you wont understand a word she says. I took her for precalc and got a C in there. Her class was full the first few weeks, but by the last few weeks only about 20 kids remained. That tells you how bad she is.
I ended up with a C in her precalc class.I definitely would not recommend her for any class because of her teaching style. Doesn't prepare you for what is going to be on her exams. I was asleep half the time in her class. Attendance is mandatory for more points, but she will put you to sleep with her accent.
Horrible teaching and speaking skills. Is new to the country and has a horrible accent. Hard tests and final. Not too friendly either. Take her if you want to work hard for a C. Over half the kids dropped her.
Stay away from Navab! Can't understand a word that comes out of her mouth. Extremely hard tests and quizzes. Had to drop her class. Waste of a semester. Don't take.
Very had incomprehensible teacher. You have 5 tests and a quiz every week. Bad teaching skills and unfriendly personality. Stay away if I were you.
This was a very difficult class. Since it was my first math class at Pierce I didn't think it would be that difficult. I got lucky that I passed with a C, but teacher doesn't care about failing people and she is very hard to understand. I wouldn't recommend her unless you know your stuff.
I find her to be a good teacher when you yourself are actually trying. Math isn't a subject that most can just understand. When she sees that your are trying she is more inclinded to help. She is a big fan of group work, which I must say I was skeptic of but have found I have learned sooo much from my classmates. If your willing hen she is willing.
Professor Navab is one of the best & nicest teacher Pierce has. I have no problem understanding her. Some students will say anything to justify their failings. She is a dedicated teacher who is always there to help. She puts more time than what her office hours are. About tests & quizes if you don't study of course they're going to be hard.
Mitra is a dedicated teacher and shes WONDERFUL!!! Her tests are EXACTLY from the homework- word for word. If you are dedicated to your studies and make time for homework- No doubt you'll get an A. If you're in ASAP math 115/125 you need to come to class everyday. Ask her anything and SHE WILL teach you UNTIL YOU GET IT. Take her :)
The best professor to teach this class. It was hard and a lot of dedication but what do you expect for a Combined Math class. Just come to class everyday. DO THE HOMEWORK. The tests come from the homework right out of the book. - Guarantee an A.
A great teacher. If u put in even 1% effort she will put in the other 99% to help you get the best grade possible. She is an easy marker and gives alot of partial/extra credit. She teaches more than one method, so if u don't understand a certain way, you can choose the one that works best for you. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF. You get out what you put in.
She cares deeply about helping her students. If you attend class, do the homework/classwork there is no possible way to fail. Unless of course you do not put effort. You get what you give
Ms. Mitra Navab is a dedicated, hard working and extremely supportive of her students. As long as a student is willing to work and study, she will go out of her way to help students. She is a gift to our college and students. I hope every student have the pleasure to have an instructor as good as MS. Navab.
Extremely mandatory to attend class, one absence can really damage your pace in the class. He method of teaching is understandable but expects students to know the material after one ex. problem. Does alot of group work. Doesn't check homework so grade is based on test. Very hard. wouldnt recommend her but she is a fair teacher.
Mitra is a great teacher. She truly cares about all of her students and if people cannot understand her because of her very slight accent then they are just clearly lacking hearing abilities. She gives alot of extra credit and partial credit. She is really fair and a very good teacher. She is also very nice and funny and wants everyone to pass.
Very good teacher! Honest, Fair and a great person! (Do your work!)
Prof. Navab is awesome. She is incredibly helpful and will make sure you understand the subject. Even though this class was supposed to be extremely fast, it didn't feel that way because of the way she taught. And that's coming from a person who hates math. Take her class if you can.
If you really want to learn and be demanded to put in your part and her meet you half way then this is the class for you. She gives her students partial credit and extra credit. She drops the lowest grade and reviews before or on the test day. There no possible way for you to fail her class unless you're a lazy individual.
She's so cute.
tests are extremely long and hard. for a winter class she didn't cut the class a break. shes a nice teacher but i wouldnt take this class again.
She's kind of a tough grader, and the tests can be tough, as well, but she is very helpful. She is always willing to help you after class.
I fell in love with her! She is the best teacher of math ever! She also is very cute and adorable!
I fell in love with her. I am so sad that I couldn't take her for Cal 1 :*( I would have loved to take her class again. Her comments are right, she is cute with the biggest heart ever.
Makes you memorize things that are not useful but actually make the problems harder
There is a great deal of information to absorb but the Professor is available on a daily basis to help you succeed. She gives you the best examples and will not move on until she is sure you understand.I wish I would have taken her class in the fall 2013.
Overall I am glad I choose to take her she was really helpful, truly took the time to help me understand the math problems, if you're looking for a professor that's always there when you need her, she's the one. :)
Statway A course, rather simple class. Her sample pre test are life savers and she is great with helping one on one during class. Little homework. It's important to go everyday! I love her, she's very sweet and innocent. I think everyone did as well. Recommend!!
Very carrying teacher .. You must ask questions during class . Little homework but don't miss to many days. Very easy class as long as you do the sample tests .if you need more help GO to tutoring and she will help clarify things for you
Course is both an in class and online formula based offering. Students that fail to do the online portion, do HW, lose points-foolish. Mitra, controlled this class very well, she is an excellent teacher that understands her function well. Mitra is a valuable member of the math department. You will learn, she teaches you to learn.
Okay. She was super cool and very approachable. She knows her math really well but is sometimes too 'mathy' when you ask for explanations. Not a big deal though. She gives samples test which are great for exam prep and assigns a moderate amount of homework. Great lecturer and great communication of what she expects you to know. I give her a 9/10.
Too hard & is not clear. She rushes through the lectures, gives up on those who are not doing so well in the class, gives harder questions then what is taught, does not give students motivation to do better in the class , suggests students to drop if they have a low grade and makes you feel like there is no hope.
Professor Navab, is a great math teacher as long as you're willing to put in the work. I was part of her ASAP program and had no problem getting an A. As long as you show up to class everyday, study the night prior to tests and make a commitment in doing homework, you will pass the class easily. She is also a very lenient grader.
Extremely helpful professor that had tutoring hours daily. She gave the best review guides I've ever seen and would discuss every problem in detail. Her tutoring sessions were great as she would take a problem step by step to help you understand. I would highly recommend for this double class as it's not easy material.
The only reason I'm getting an A is because I teach myself the material at home. She rushes through lectures & is very unclear. The worst part is her attitude - maybe she just hates my class but she's downright cruel to people sometimes. Also she lets people ask questions in Farsi and answers them without clarifying for people that don't speak it.
Mitra is incredibly dedicated to students understanding the material. She is very patient and compassionate. Ms. Navab will do everything in her power to help the student succeed. Also she tutors in the tutoring lab Monday-Thursday! Great Teacher!
Mitra is very dedicated to helping students understand the material. She is very patient and compassionate and wants her students to succeed. She goes to the tutoring lab Monday through Thursday to provide extra help to students that want to do well. Mitra also provides comprehensive practice tests that are tremendously helpful. Terrific teacher!
I strongly recommend this instructor. She always goes the extra miles for her students. She spends as much time necessary to help her students out. She is very effective style of teaching. She is helpful and overall an amazing teacher.
I really enjoyed taking her class she is really patient and well give help when asked. She prepares you for the test good enough to know what going to be on it. i left like her way and spend of teaching the class was just right. i would recommend her for a math course
She is what all teacher should be. She wants her students to succeed and if you work hard she will always be there for you. The very best professor.
Prof. Navab was easy to talk to and she answered homework questions for the most part, but unfortunately I felt like the book and Online coursework (XYZ) were of no help. The class was ASAP 115125 but I honestly felt like the course was harder than it should have been. The homework was often not close to what was covered in class. She is nice tho.
Mitra is an amazing instructor. Participate & ask questions whenever you don't completely understand anything. She genuinely cares for her students. As long as you make an effort to learn, you'll do fine!
This class is a challenging course, it's fast pace and a lot of homework. If you put all of your work in it you will pass. If you don't have much time to dedicate yourself to this class don't take it. Study hard cause the tests are not easy. Overall great professor she will help you if you ask for it.
i have got to say that Mitra was a great professor, i loved that every section on our lesson plan was done on point, there was no getting behind. She offered a lot of help and you could always ask for it. i think its great that she spoke real clear English and if you didn't understand the first time she'll explain until you do. I'd take her again.
Professional, compassionate and patient. One of the best teachers and best people that I have met. Do your part, she'll do hers.
she is a great teacher who teaches brief, nice and she could change the meaning of hard for math!highly recommend her if your want to enjoy math while you are getting a huge progress.I got math ASAP with her.
She was a great teacher. She is there for her student when they need help. She puts her students needs before hers, she is very clear in lecturing, and very understandable. She makes math much more fun and very very very easy to learn and understand. As well as she is a very lovely person that you can talk to regarding anything you need.
Mitra is a great prof. She's clear on the material she will be teaching and offers a tremendous amount of help is you seek it. Her sample tests are identical to her actual tests which is great. The only thing i didn't enjoy was her online hw. Other than that, she might come off intimidating but she really cares for her students.
Mitra is by far the best math professor in the department. She's extremely helpful & is always in the tutoring center after her classes. I made the mistake of not studying enough for the tests and bombing all my tests. Last two weeks I had to make up for it and cram everything. Just study, do hw, show up & participate and you'll get an A.
Professor Navab , is a teacher where she takes hard math and makes sure you know what you are doing. She isn't mean but I do recommend you knowing English because it is a lot of word problems. Text is required (binder) and their are graded quizzes online every chapter. Go to her office hours she does make it clearer.
In one simple word, she is awesome.
Just take her and if you get bad grade, it's your fault. She is clear and doesn't give irrelevant questions on quizzes and exams. Everything relates to her lectures, so you don't have to worry about tricky questions.
She is a very patient and helpful professor. She makes sure you learn and her quizzes and test are always related to her lectures. It is not impossible get an A
Mitra is the most caring professor I have ever taken. Took Calc 1 with her, and she helped me root out holes in my algebra. No attitude at all. She never makes mistakes on the board, and is super approachable during class. She tries to be there for you-no ego. She shows up early, stays late, and is avail in her office hours.
Professor Navab is the best math professor I have had. Math has never been a strong subject for me and after taking her I can genuinely say I am prepared for Calc 1. I highly recommend taking her. She is always there for help and will take time to explain all concepts until everyone understands them.
She is amazing! Shes nice, fair grader. Show up to class everyday, take notes, do the online homework. All her tests are short answer, never expect multiple choice. Go to her office hours, ask her questions. She helpful and nice. Buy the book, it'll help you study. She's amazing and I would take her again!
She is a great math professor!
She is a great professor, took her for pre cal and cal 1, she makes sure you understand the subject, very nice and will answer any question you may have, and if you still are not getting it, she has office hours at the tutoring center where she will work with you
Best math professor ever!!! She is so nice and she is always willing to help you. She also gives practice problems before the tests and she gives 1 test retake.
Professor Navab is the best Math professor you have ever known. She works very hard to help her students. Stays after office hours if necessary to help her students. As long as students are giving their best she will go out of her way to help. Pierce college should hire more professors like Mitra Navab.
A dedicated teacher who really is there for her students. One of the best teacher I have ever had. She is an awesome human being beautiful soul.
She is one of the professors who really cares for her students to understand the material and helps a lot.
cares, helps,
It takes a while to get used to her accent, but don't worry. Her tests are harder than the textbook problems, but the book is still useful. No extra credit. Has people "work together" to solve problems in class, so just do the problems on your own and check with other people after.
Professor Navab is an absolute sweetheart and is there for her students. I would not have gotten through the course without her help because math does not come naturally to me. She allows a cheat sheet on tests, she has practice tests and she is a stickler for attendance.
This is definitely not an easy class, especially if you aren't good at math so be prepared to study hard. If she sees that you are working hard and attending class everyday she will be very nice to you. Make sure to take lots of notes as well since everything that she talks about will be on the tests.
Mitra can do one of the hardest things, teach math well. She cares about the students and makes her lectures enjoyable. She's one of the nicest professors I've ever had.
Great professor. Explained math and made it seem easier than it is. Easygoing and gives tons of extra credit opportunities in tests.
Professor Navab is awesome. I had to drop her class because I wasn't doing well. It was not her fault, I understood everything due to her being a great teacher. I am just a terrible test taker. The only thing I didn't like was that the homework was online. She is kind and fair and wants you to succeed. I would recommend her to anyone!
Navab is a really easy teacher. She wants you to work in groups but the class is really easy and you can do it yourself with no help. She only has 4 tests plus the MET and her final (all which are easy if you review the sample test she puts online). She gives SOME extra credit options.
She is an amazing professor!!! Her lectures consist of her doing a few problems on the board and then giving you some to do, the notes are very clear and understandable. She is always willing to help you if you don't understand. There are four exams + final exam, if you study your notes and the practice quizzes available, you will be just fine.
Knows how to teach. What is on the study guides will be on exams. Buy the access card online;textbook is useless. Do the homework and if questions, go during her office hours. 4 midterms and cumulative final. After 4th midterm, study the previous exams. Easy A. Don't miss class.
Navab is one of the best profs Ive ever had at Pierce. She is very nice and explains every single concept thouroughly in class. She gives five module tests and allows cheat sheets for them. She also gives extra credit on her tests and homework is online. Classwork is in the book. Ive never had such a great prof. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
shes really good with math and make sure that you will learn everything ,also she provide you privet tottering at totter center so its very good thing , and she also very nice and always smile. TAKE HER .
Professor Navab is a great teacher! She would literally make things easier for you to understand and will give you lots of opportunities to passed. She's always smiling and just very approachable and helpful. I'm glad I took her class and would take her again for any math classes.
Prof. Navab just won me in her class. She keeps her lectures straight to the point and focused on how to solve problems without any BS. She gives us exercises to solve problems, and if we're lost, she's always there to help. Show up, take notes, and ALWAYS do the homework online. This class flew by like time did.
She has an accent which can sometimes be hard to understand but she will repeat herself and wont move on until everyone understands what shes talking about. Shes extremely helpful and if you put in the effort and go to her tutoring hours you will most like pass.
Professor Navab is one of the greatest math teachers I have ever had. She teaches Calculus in such an amazing way that makes it understandable to all. As long as you practice the problem we do in class, you will be fine.
Professor Navab is the BEST Math teacher I have ever come across in my 20 years of hating math an 20 years of existence. Her grading is so fair and just! She truly cares for her students, if you put in every ounce of effort you WILL take the A. Just study bottom line. I reccomend her!
Professor Navab is one of the best professors I've had. Her tests are on what she covers in class and make sure to do the sample tests because they are really helpful. There is homework for each section and they are all due before each test. She is AMAZING. Take her you won't regret it!
Amazing Professor! she cares so much about her students. helps out a lot.
you need to keep up in class and really memorize everything to pass the tests. Professor is always available for tutoring to help you understand. Math was hard for me, but Prof. Navab helped me and I passed!
Best teacher ever! If you want to pass, take this professor. You will not regret it. She is always available for help and making sure that people know what is going on. Does have an accent but that wasn't a big deal; it is still very easy to understand her. Tip sit in front, its always better.
She is pretty straight forward. She gives help in class and the hw isn't that bad if you do it everyday. She is a hard grader, but if you study her methods you'll pass. She had some great times. Minor accent but it is very easy to understand the methods. STUDY AND DO HW ! You'll be fine. also don't waste your time buying the book, just buy mathlab
If you are very weak at math, RUN! There are 4 tests worth 70% of your grade and unbearable amount of homework worth 10% of your grade. She only skims the section she is teaching, tells you to just study her sample tests and wastes time in class. I went to all her tutoring, spent 15 hours per week studying, and never missed a class. AVOID HER!!
There are four tests and a final. The homework dont count a lot but still do them to learn the material. Lectures are just problems up on the board. She goes through steps but not so much theories behind it. Difficult, for students to pick up if theyre not good in math. Test and finals, she just says practice the practice tests.
she is very good professor and easy going
Very easy going, clear & concise teaching. I struggle in math a lot but got an A fairly easily in this class so thats saying something
Awful! Goes too fast with her lectures, covers too many topics in one day
Mitra is really sweet and caring. I'm thankful she allowed the class to retake tests and the final is a combination of the MET and her in class final. She is a laidback grader who wants her students to pass. On the final week of class she opened up all the online HW as a last ditch effort for the students to make up the lost points. Work In Groups
She is a great professor and very knowledgeable. She wants her students to pass. Dont use your cell phone in class and sit near the front. I thought I was horrible in math until I took her class and realized all I needed was a good professor to push me forward
She can be caring for students, I agree with that. Although, the way she taught doesn't work for everyone. I personally found it too fast and felt graded by a few things. I'd look for someone who can offer more opportunities to help and coax the material better.
She is very genius teacher. Please follow her study guide and class lecture before exam. She is very careful on her students to pass the class.
Professor Navab is a very caring professor who has a very clear grading criteria. Her lectures are pretty straight forwards if paid attention to and she goes over her lectures step by step. Her exams are based off homework assignments as well as her lectures. If you pay attention and do your homework assignment it is a very easy course to pass.
Navab really is a great Professor and I learned so much from this class!! I was slightly nervous because I havent dipped my toes in algebra since highschool, but her teaching style is very understandable. I really recommend taking her , she is very helpful during office hours and even through qurantine she made the transition online smoothly.
She made transitioning from in class to online very easy. Her lectures were very detailed and helpful. And she is super nice too.
Professor Navab is a great professor. She cares about her students and is very helpful. Her lectures and teaching style are very understandable.
Prof. Navab is a wonderful professor! She really helps students out. She gives assigned homework online though carnigie, but if you go to her office hours she will help you with the second attempt to get the best score. She gives study guides before the exam and counts it as extra credit. Study guides exactly like the exam. Go to her office hours!
took precal summer over zoom. she's really patient asks us how we're keeping up with lectures. will go step by step on all lecture questions and do review before tests and final. she requires to send over work via pictures so in case the web assign will mark our answers wrong, if she can see we did work right, she'll give us full credit.
65% of the grade is Tests,( 5). Very little room to boost your grade. Proctored and work needed for credit. Grades based on work and even if you did the work, had right answer, miss a step she docs down points. Very boring lectures. Went to tutoring everyday but marked down a grade once results came. She didnt explain why. Not worth the stress.
Goes way to fast
she teaches things well if you do her exercises and review the lectures she posts online. Not hard to get an A if you do the things she asks.
She was though for that class, it was hard for me to understand but always available for office hours. LOTS of homework and heavy lecture.
pay attention and you might pass
She's a great teacher and I really learned easily from her. Stay active in the zoom meetings, without them you'll be lost! 5 exams (yes, 5) that are very similar to homework, a LOT of homework, and a cumulative final. If you pay attention in class, it won't be hard at all. Got over 100 in the class and was taking other harder courses along with it
attend lecture/learn material from lecture+ do problems with her during class+ participate+ study for exams by doing homework questions because the exams are on the same platforms as our homework which meant sometimes we got the same questions as homework. Never did the study guide and ended up with A and A on each exam. this class is easy
exams require you do be on Zoom and including the final. don't be fooled this class is so easy if you do the work. the class average on the first couple of exams was failing bc people didn't care
Prof Navab was truly amazing! Her lectures are really helpful & she won't move on unless she feels like everyone understands everything. She always answered my questions during the lecture. I feel like she respected all of the students & wanted them to do well in her class. Her tests covered the material she taught - nothing more, nothing less.
She is an awesome professor, be sure to always rewatch her videos though to learn better. She is always available for office hours so please join as much as you can for any questions.
dont know how or why she has good ratings. Very test-heavy and tests are difficult with not a lot of time to finish them. I don't know, maybe I got her during a bad semester. Never reviews exams, HW hardly counts. Teaches very specific methods and looks for anything to mark off on test. don't take her, trust me.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever taken. She is extremely hard. She teaches a certain way and expects you to learn everything her way. Even weeks after the test, she emails you and will ask you to come and explain how you solved the problems if it's not her way. We started with 40 students by the end of the semester only 16 were left.
Professor Navab does her best to simplify concepts & is great about doing multiple examples to help students understand. She always offers extra time outside of class for those struggling & encourages you as long as you put in the work. She's the reason why I passed Stats w/ an A, and that's saying something since I'm a theatre major.
Very easy class to pass. She makes notes and concepts clear and easy to understand. Answer polls during class and take notes and you will be fine as tests are open note.
I dont know how she even has good reviews, but this class is EXTREMELY difficult to pass! The way she teaches online isn't great, seems really bland and half asleep. Exam questions wont match to what you learned, study guide is nothing like the exam. Exam has a bigger impact on your grade than homework. Pick a different teacher please!!!
Be ready to go back in time as if you are in a foreign country, you must learn to do math ONE WAY and ONE WAY ONLY, She is very closed-minded. She will punish you or fail you for not doing it EXACTLY HER WAY. Math can be solved in a variety of different ways, yet she will not allow it. Very difficult teacher, test do not match lectures. Beware.
Professor Navab is a very Knowledgable and caring professor. She is very straightforward with the concepts and will go over as many examples to get you to understand what you are doing. I do recommend doing the homework after every lecture since it will help you understand the material and they are similar to the examples you do in class.
AVOID HER IF YOU CAN! her tests are worth 70% of your grade and each test covers around 7 chapters and lectures are painfully boring, she assigns lots of homework which dont even boost your grade. all her test averages are 60-70%.
Professor Navab was great. She answers all your questions, and all HW is due before the day of the test, but I do recommend you do them right after the lecture. She provides students with a sample test before each test which is SUPER helpful to use as a study guide. Her lectures are helpful. She speaks with a little accent but I find it okay.
She is nice and very caring professor. She is organize. teaches very good. If you attend her meeting, you don't need to read a book. Also, she gives a sample test before every quiz which is very helpful. I got over hundred. She is the best. I recommend her.
Professor Navab is a really nice person who goes out of her way to help as many students as she can. She gives sample tests before the actual test which is really helpful to study. The class is homework heavy but does help out with understanding the material. Just have to show up, take notes, and do the hw and you should pass with at least a B.
This is my second time taking stats and I passed with Professor Navab in the spring semester '22, she grades heavily on the tests but as long as you do the hw, ask questions, and pay attention in class you'll do good on the tests. She is a kind professor, don't hesitate to attend her office hours she enjoys helping her students.
Professor Navab is great! Not too much homework and she allows cheat sheets on the exams. Her exams are very reasonable. It is similar to the homework and most times the test has more than 100 points so it gets counted as extra credit. Partial credit is taken on exams. She also has partial credit questions which is easier than the actual question.
If you don't do well in this class, idk what to tell you. I was on my phone for the majority of the time but I made sure to pay attention and write notes. You get a cheat sheet for every test which was the main reason the class was easy. She has office hours every day and is very accessible if you need help. Do well on your tests and you'll be fine
Mitra was one of my best professors, as long as you come with an open heart and the desire to learn, she'll help you by a MILE. Pay attention to her classes and take notes. (Yes, actually take notes and write down the equations) and you'll succeed. Most of my classmates didn't pay attention and almost failed, luckily Mitra was super nice.
I've always had a hard time with math, and the fact that I was able to pass Statistics thanks to Prof. Navab says a lot about her teaching ability. If you wake up late and miss class, she gives you the chance to go to another class of hers to catch up. You can take one page of notes for all the tests. She's available every day if you need help.
She assigns homework very lenient on deadlines. Overall a very nice lady. Just be sure to do the homework
You will learn to remove a lot of difficulties in Math 227 with her support. I wish I had known her many years ago to learn much from her. With her help, you will get everything. Don't hesitate to have her before it's late.
This is the most caring professor I ever had. She wants people to pass her class. She explains everything so clearly. She makes the class easier than what it should be. She even gives you so much assistance in test. Her practice test match her real test. If you fail her class then I would really suggest you think twice whose fault that is.
Good teacher and made sure everyone understood all the topics.
Class is super easy due to the option she gives you to bring a whole sheet of notes in for each test.
Professor Navab cares about students. When the first test had a lot of bad grades, she completely changed the class around so that students could participate more in solving problems in groups and would answer any questions during class thoroughly. She dropped the worst test and allowed students to makeup a bad test.
Best math teacher ever. She was very clear with her instructions on how to solve problems and lets us use our own notes often. She is very caring and has office hours to help students. You can redo a homework problem you don't understand as many times as you want until you understand it.
Similar to what others have written, Professor Navab is a great professor. She cares if you learn the material and does not hesitate to answer questions. Never gets mad. Constantly gives homework extensions. Lets you have an extra sheet with notes during tests. If you don't pass her class its not her, its you. Test oriented, so do well on those.
Professor Navab was excellent and made Calc 2 a lot more manageable than I thought. Calc 2 itself can be challenging but she had office hours 3 times a week where I just went and did the homework for the day and asked as many questions as I wanted, she loved to help. You get a small cheat sheet for every test and she gives partial credit.
Prof Navab is a wonderful teacher. She explains math in a simple way. Allows one-sided page of notes on exams. Unlimited tries on homework. Office hours are available almost every day to help students pass. She even allowed us to make up one exam at the end with the worst grade. If you fail this class its not because of her its because of you.
very good teacher. she's patient with her class and always makes sure to answer any questions. Tests are easy if you do the test preps she posts. She offers extra credit on some of her tests
Loved professor Navab, test are easy if you do her study guides and she's always available to help.
Professor Navab is intelligent and very kind, the best math professor I've ever had. She is really helpful all the time and makes sure to help you until you understand. There's just no way you can't succeed in her class. She gives sample exams before her actual exams, so make sure to do those; they help a lot. Thank you, Professor Navab!
Professor Navab was one of the best professors I've had! I hadn't taken a math class in over 4 years until this class, at first I was definitely worried. I didn't take trig and professor Navab made it clear that those who didn't taken trig will need to put in a lot of effort. While this is true, the class is doable without taking trig.
I took this class as a review, since I was out of school for awhile. The class was easy for me, with a solid, but manageable amount of homework. Her lectures are clear, with abundant examples, and really cool tricks I had never seen for solving problems. Material is introduced and reused in a perfect manner, but bit slow for my personal preference.
Grade is 65% tests 12% hw 3% participation and 20% for final. Tests are easy as long as you do all the homework and study guide before the test, there's also extra credit available on each test. She's a very kind professor who will answer any questions. I recommend her, just don't be passive in class and an A is almost for sure.
I highly recommend you guys to Prof Navab classes. I took her 261 and I fell in love. Her lectures are very clear and understadable. For the exams, everything is on the lectures and homework. If you work on them, you'll pass the class with perfect scores. Also, a lot of extra credits are available. Go and take her! I'll be on her 262 class, also.
This professor helps you learn math very well. She explains everything thoroughly. You might have a lot of online homework, but it really helps you understand the material better. She makes excellent use of the class time, and I highly recommend her class to students taking Math 260 or 261. I took both classes with her and was satisfied with both.
She was an amazing professor! Very understanding and kind. Most of grad is based on 5 tests. Drops lowest test score. 12% of your grade is HW and she gives you a ton of time to do it. Always gives partial and extra credit on tests!! Don't skip class. If you do go to her office hours. She rounded my grade after the final to an A without me asking!
She was very nice and clear with her teaching. Gave study guides for each test. The text book is about $100 and you need it to do the online homework. She does has an accent, but it did not impair my learning. The tests are exactly like the study guides. You can tell she really wants you to do well.
Great professor. She teaches fast, but she actually teaches you everything you need to know. I've had professors now that teach you maybe 20% and the rest is learned from homework and YouTube videos. Not her. She's great. If you want to learn, take her.
I'd take her class again. Her lectures were very useful and she explained the concepts well. I'm not the best at math but she made it easy to understand most topics.
Navab is the first math professor I've had who I genuinely believe wants her to students to pass. Super clear grading criteria, gives lots of partial credit options on tests, and cares more about you demonstrating your understanding of concepts than you memorizing random stuff. Try not to miss class and don't be afraid to ask questions.
One of my favorite professors in Pierce!! Prof Navab is always my first choice for math. Her lectures are very organized and informative. If you attend classes every day, do all the homework as well as the practice exam, you will easily get an A. Calc is not easy but Prof Navab makes it simpler a lot. She also cares about attendance
Prof Navab cares about her students and tries to help them out as much as possible. the class was VERY difficult because of the material covered but she will try her best to explain the material that is most understandable. just attend office hours ask questions do the hw.
Nothing bad to say. Easy class. She gives study guides and a mock exam that looks just like the real one (same questions, just different numbers). She explains concepts well and is helpful if you need anything. She also replaces your lowest exam score with your final exam grade (if it's higher). Attendance matters and it's part of your grade.
Professor Navab is an amazing professor! She is extremely understanding and wants her students to do well. She gives you a set of formulas for each exam and the final exam consists of your own full size cheat sheet that she must approve first. Attendance is not mandatory but you will fail the class unless you pay attention to lectures.
Great professor. You could ask the most *****n' basic questions and she will walk you through them. The further from her you are, the more likely you are to drop (accent is no issue, just that if you don't understand it's embarrassing to ask in a sea of people). But very test heavy. final is worth 20%. tests 40%, and around 30% on HW. Very caring.
Professor Mitra Navab is amazing! She's very helpful, respectful, and always willing to answer questions. She provides clear notes and PDFs on Canvas and has regular office hours. Her explanations are clear, and she truly cares about students' success. I would definitely take more classes with her!
Professor Navab is one of the most caring professors, she gives a lot of partial credit on tests as long as you try. She also allows extensions, all you need to do is ask and she always offers office hours. Class participation is what helped me understand the subject more and she really pushed everyone to participate. I'd def recommend her.
Absolutely wants you to succeed when you're struggling and will go the extra mile to push you over to help out if it's possible. I can guarantee you'll be able to get a C even if you do poorly on tests. If you need help on tests I'd definetly recommend you go to office hours and do homework and she'll be able to help. Somewhat heavy accent.
