Good teacher -- she was very fair in grading, and did a good job at getting her points across during the lectures.
She's a great teacher and really excited and hillarious. I learned a lot from her, but she leaves out a few important concepts.
Yay for literature and for teachers who make it more fun that it already is!
Awesome teacher and easy because she is clear with her expectations so as long as you put out enough effort to try you can get good grades.

She was an outstanding teacher! She expects a lot from students, but she is organized, clear in her expectations, fair, and open-minded. She made great suggestions for research topics and showed us how to find hard-to-find resources. Take her class.
Great professor who goes out of her way to help you and truly wants you to succeed.
Seemed like a nice lady. It's too bad that I felt like I knew everything she was teaching in the class. It was rather easy . I felt that the class was mostly a complete waste of my time. I could have not shown up to a single class and still aced the tests.
Very Interesting, but difficult. Loved evey minute of the class
Liked her class and as a person but nothing I did in that class seemed to satisfy what she was looking for. Drove me nurts, re-wrote my paper twice and still got a C- she tried to help but we wernt seeing eye to eye. Everyone else didnt seem to have to much trouble, but im still a little pissed.
I had this prof last year in a required (dreaded)research paper class. I expected to hate it, but she helped me find exactly the right focus for my interests. She was clear, smart and very helpful. She reminds you why you wanted to go to college! She is not a push-over. You will have to work hard, but, yes, take her class!!
She was super helpful when I didnt know what to do on an essay, and even when I did have an idea, she would sit down with you and help you improve upon what you are already thinking. I would recommend her. But, she does like her grammer...
not a great teacher and she really pick crappy readings
Good teacher, knows what she is doing. She lacks something but I'm not sure what. Anyone who likes food should take her class. On occasion she brings breakfast (ie. Donuts, Bagels, cookies...). I liked her and would take her again.
Great teacher for the research paper class. Great editer: writes extremely helpful comments on your papers. Probably the best 101 or 102 teacher at clark.
She's a great teacher and really cares about her students, and really likes to get people involved. Alot of fun! But her class was way difficult for me. However, I got out with a really good grade. Although her class is difficult, I would still recommend her just because she's so kooky and fun.
don't fail to do the reading in her lit class, but you will love her if you like to read
I highly recommend this teacher to anyone who enjoys talking about stories and novels. You will enjoy her class!
I thought I knew how to write from HS English and it was hard to see how much i still had to learn but she was really clear about how the specifics of grammar, how to find sources, and how to address opposition in an argument. I liked her a lot.
There were not many students in our class (maybe because it was a night class)which is too bad because we had fun. she is the most enthusiastic teacher at Clark (or maybe anywhere!). she even let us help pick the books. i will take her again
I waited for 2 quarters to take 102 because Dr. Schrag wasn't teaching it. I wanted this teacher. My friend said she was very good, willing to spend time with students outside class, and fun, besides. I agreed. I learned so much about how to research, I know it will help in other classes. I wish I had her class earlier, though.
I loved this clas. I chose a subject I like for my research paper and she showed me how to make it the best paper I ever wrote. I never thought I could work so hard and like it. Schrag rocks!
Love her! Answers her e-mail, takes time out of class to help, really funny in class, funny examples and illustrations to help everyone understand. If you're willing- she's totally into helping you succeed!!!
she is hard, but she makes it fun and really focuses on bringing out the best in you
Mitzi, you have redeemed my hideous, horrendous ENG 101 experience, and I will forever be grateful for that! YOUR class was GREAT. Big hugs to you. PEOPLE, TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU STILL NEED ENGLISH!
Mitzi was an amazing teacher. I loved 102 and would consider Mitzi a great mentor. She helped me through a touch research project topic and ended up using my paper as an example in her next class. She even made some of the classes optional and you always knw what was on the agenda. Great Teacher, great class. I would recommend her to everyone.
Take this class with Dr. Schrag
Even though this is a three credit class, the heavy workload made this class feel like five credit class. Being a lit. class, you must do A LOT of reading to do well. However Mitzi was very enthusiatic about the material and made learning fun. She can also work around a prearranged absence but only miss class for a valid reason.
Dr. Shrag is an amazing professor. If you struggle with writing papers or aren't too confident in your writing abilities/grammar, then I suggest you take her class. She is SO helpful and really knows how to compose a great piece of work. If you are a natural writer, then the class can kind of get boring, but overall, she is great!
GREAT TEACHER!!!! Take English with her!!! You learn so much!! I rock at researching now!!! The other teachers suck comapred to her!! :D
Mitzi is extremely sweet and entertaining! The class was easy for me because I took the equivalent in high school, but I highly doubt that anybody failed. She is EXTREMELY helpful and very caring and willing to take time out of her schedule specifically to help you. :)
She is extremely intelligent and detailed when she lectures. Very helpful as well. Its impossible to fail english 102 no matter who you have, but she makes it even easier for you.
Shes a great teacher. I signed up for her class just cuz i needed it, but i ended up loving it. Shes great and really tried to help me whenever she could. Shes understanding to her students. awesome lady..
She is an amazing professor!! She basically inspired me to make it through this class. I found myself drawing enthusiasm from her for my paper. Dr. Schrag is extremely helpful, has tons of patience, and wants you to succeed as mush as you do.
Mrs. Schrag's classes were boring; there were a lot of busy work assignments that had little to do with the 12 page paper required to pass the class. She is very personable and very wise, but she grades tough!
She was a great teacher. Requires a lot of reading. May feel like busy work at times yet you do learn from her class. She is very reasonable and responsible. She is always open to help you.
She is very nice and helpful. Her class is productive even if she is a little picky in writing. And I feel glad that I enjoy writing after taking her class. She makes my effort in writing so worthwhile. She is a pretty and fantastic teacher.I'll definitely take her class if i have another chance.
My best teacher for this last term! Extremely kind & helpful. Would highly recommend her to everybody.
Mitzi is an awesome English teacher. I really enjoyed this class. Student discourse is a big + in her class, don't be afraid to discuss, debate and or have fun in her class.
AMAZING!!!! You WILL have fun in her class. I used to suck at writing papers, she made me a writer! God gave her talent! :)
Mitzi is one of the best English profs I've ever had. She explains everything very thoroughly, is always willing to answer questions, and gives excellent feedback and suggestions for resources. I can't say enough nice things about her! I loved her class, and felt like I came out of it as a better writer. Please take her classes!
Dr. Schrag was an awesome instructor this last quarter. She expects you to work hard and show up for class but is always willing to help if you need it. I enjoyed her class so much that I am going to take 102 with her. You cannot go wrong by choosing her class; she made me a better writer.
What a great professor! I thoroughly enjoyed each class with her. I have NEVER liked English until I took a class with Dr.Schrag. Believe me if you take any English class take it with her and you will be thankful you did! She's GREAT!
Thank God for teachers who know their stuff. I took one class where the teacher used the"what do you think" method to cover up his ignorance. Also she doesn't get all uptight about being a doctor. She has a Ph.D. but she actually prefers to be called Mitzi. She teaches you to write even though it's a lit class.
HARDEST class ever! you have to do so much reading, and the quizzes are all pop quizzes. she is psycho and yells at people and also gets up in your face when she wants to. you have at least 3 hours a night of reading, and if you dont do it youll get screwed. dont take her class
cannot go wrong with Mitzi!
Much more work than other 3 credit classes I have taken at Clark. However Mitzi is an incredibly nice and charismatic woman, and she knows how to engage students. I just wish the material wasn't so inflexible-there's no room for error or imagination on quizzes or papers.
Mitzi is amazing. She is very compassionate and easy to talk to. There is a TON of homework in this class, so I recommend taking this with easy classes with less homework.
Mitzi is a wonderful lady. I loved her class and the textbook she gave us was full of powerful insight into the time period. The curriculum was great for self-realization and reflection. Her lectures are fascinating and if you do the reading you find yourself interpreting just as she does. Definitely take this course.
Mitzi is an amazing teacher!!! She wants nothing more than to see her students succeed. This was one of my first classes after being out of school for many years and she helped me so much. She is always willing to meet with students after class and returns e-mails promptly. Highly recommend her!!!
Mitzi is such a great teacher! I took her for both 101 and 102, and loved it! She was super helpful and really wants her students to succeed. I will be taking her again for American Lit/Classical Mythology...she's the best!
I also took her her Mythology (but she broke her shoulder so we had a horrible sub half of the term.) I loved her the first half I had her class the first time and I love her now! She is so enthusiastic, and very nice. She's also helpful, and lenient when it comes to paper topics. I would highly recommend her!
Definitely got me interesting in novels and literature by the end of the quarter.
Mitzi is one of the best professors at Clark. It's a lit class, of course there's going to be a lot of reading! She's very clear, and if you are confused she's always willing to meet outside of class. Highly reccomend her.
One of my favorite teachers I've ever had. I used to think I was terrible at English, but now I understand Lit. so much better. Mitzi is a sweetheart and really funny. I wish I would have known how great she is to have taken English 101 and 102 with her. Please do yourself a favor and take this class!
She's a very interesting teacher. She's really nice, but her lectures tend to go on and on and are very boring. She's a tough grader. So it's not an easy A class. I would recommend her if you are looking to be an English major.
She was not clear at all with expectations for papers. She lectures about nothing and when she does it has nothing to do with class work. She seems to patronize students and show off her Doctorate in English. I would never recommend this teacher...
Great teacher! Really helped me understand literature better, her lectures are simple and interesting, she is sweet and nice person but at the same time she wants her students to learn and succeed.
Good teacher, but not the greatest. I wouldn't say it's a bad idea to take her though.
Mitzi is sweet and funny. She is good at complimenting your qualities, and giving you ideas on how to take things to the next step. I had a few clarity issues, and the lectures were long, despite that..I recommend this class and her for your English teacher. She is bright but not a show off.
At first I was extremely freaked out that I was not going to pass this class as it felt like things were somewhat unorganized and unclear what was expected. I talked with Mitzi frequently letting her know of my concerns and she worked with me through them. As time passed and she provided good advice for my paper I was able to pass the class w/an A.
First, the quizzes were stupidly hard, asking about minor details, second, she said she drops the lowest quiz score, which is good because on one I got 3/25. After the grades come back I realize she didn't drop it. She also gave a lower score on a paper because she totally missed the point of the paper, and she scored that at the last minute.
Just no. Not an easy A. Boring lectures. Not very helpful. This was my personal experience, might be different for you.
Dr. Mitzi Schrag is an amazing professor! She is a cheery old lady and is very understanding to her Running Start students. She assigns three major papers and grades extremely easy.
She's a really nice lady, however I despised the class because the work was incredibly boring. Mitzi is ALWAYS willing to help you outside of class, and goes out of her way to make things more clear to the students, although I personally found the work extremely difficult because it was the same, boring topic through the whole term.
She's a great teacher and made hard-to-understand grammar rules very easy to understand. She was also very helpful in what she expected from the papers you'd have to write. Warning: If you don't like researching stuff, you may not like the papers you'll have to write. Though, I think it preps you for after your associates.
Mitzi is very positive and an all around great person. On the other hand she will reteach material with the constant assumption that you have not already been taught that very thing 10 times. She is very specific with explaining things (sometimes to the point of over doing it). All around a good class to take for a quarter!
This class was absolutely horrible. She's not clear or organized at all. The amount of reading she assigns is impossible to all read for students who work and have other classes. Has unrealistic expectations for papers and quiz answers. Doesn't really teach you anything and expects you to know everything like you have a doctorate in the subject
Take someone else for Am Lit. Seriously. She does small group discussion which sucks because no one has done the reading. PLUS, she told us the midterm was open bookopen note, and when we arrived on test day, she said "I changed my mind. Clear your desks." Her online postings were out of date and listed wrong info. Sad cuz I love literature.
horrible class. She is so unorganized its scary, you wont know what you need to do until the day before.
I've REALLY enjoyed every LiteratureEnglish class I've taken at Clark (3), so I was very excited for this one. On the required papers, I received quite condescending comments, no positive feedback, but still got at LEAST B's on them. The harsh feedback lowered my motivation and enthusiasm throughout the quarter and made me dread going to class.
Mitzi is a very nice woman. She deeply cares about the success of her students. She makes known her office hours, and is available to answer any questions whether they be about your paper, or not knowing how to use Microsoft word--She's there to help you. There was a few occasions where due dates were unorganized but she always was fair. Great!
English 102 is a research paper class, but don't let that scare you. Dr Mitzi is amazing. She is clear on her grading expectations, and makes herself incredibly available to help you. Communication is important with her! If you have a problem that may interfere with class, let her know! She is accommodating & wants everyone to pass and do well!
Outlines everything clearly in syllabus and always gives plenty of feedback. She will tell you what is good and what you should work on. Stay for the lectures and she will provide very helpful information to become a better writer. Goes over grammar. Very good professor overall!
Doesn't explain things very well. Grammar quizzes are tough. Long useless rants and lectures. Nice lady, but not a good teacher.
Mrs. Schrag is a great teacher, she is always willing to help you. The class is really based on you doing the research for the final paper of your choice. Not many assignments in between. If you don't use your time wisely and research your topic you may not pass. Class goes by fast and no homework so you can slack but it will catch up with you.
I love this class. Mitzi is hilarious, really fun to listen to. She is very clear on her expectations. The lectures are very informative, she also works really hard with everyone on grammar. Overall I feel this class is very helpful to continue on in future English classes. I would love to take another class from Mitzi in the future.
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!! I took her American Lit class and she was so mean to the girls always graded really hard! I don't know how she is getting good rating. Everyone is my class was having a really diffucult time on tests.
She's one of the most accommodating teachers I've known so far. She gives you good feedback and appreciates your hard work. She's very understanding especially to working students. She brought my confidence in writing back.
Rude teacher. Highly do not recommend.
I loved this class!!! Mitzi is such a great instructor! She gives great feedback and is always willing to help. She focuses a lot on grammar which is a good thing! I would highly recommend Mitzi to anyone! I would love to take another class with her in the future.
Couldn't stand the way she graded papers. As well as being the most boring and insane person to listen to while they are giving lectures.
Mitzi has by far been my favorite teacher! She's hilarious, she does everything she can to make sure you pass, and she is a great teacher. There are 3 major papers in your class, but as long as you turn them in on time, you get a peer review and a couple of extra days to revise it. She goes over a lot of grammar. Tests are rare in this class. 10/10
Very confusing and is not clear with anything. She is very Confusing. Got a B+ but would never take her class again. CONFUSING and does not always go with her word
I would NOT recommend Mitzi. She is confusing and unclear on her criteria. There are 3 big papers in this class. They are 5-8 pages. She grades hard on papers. The textbook is only used as a reference. She skips around on concepts. She is a nice person, but I would not recommend her as a teacher. The final test is on grammar. I DON'T RECOMMEND!
She is a really good teacher, works hard to make the work interesting. i would definitely take her again.
she is an easy grader, we do though have lots of reading but as long as you read you will pass
Mitzi is a good professor, she is funny and makes the lectures not that boring. She will work with anyone who asks for help. You have two article summaries in the beginning and after that it is all work towards your Final Paper. You don't have a real final in that class other than the 10-12 page paper due at the end of the course.
As long as you read and do the papers you'll do good.
Mitzi is a wonderful professor. She really likes discussion and will make sure everyone participates at least a few times through the quarter. She thinks every opinion is valuable and treats them as such. Her tests aren't bad, and really if you are a decent writer you will do fine on essays. I recommend her.
I liked Mitzi's class a ton, I really enjoyed all of the short stories and authors we were exposed to. She was kind and respectful. She grades a little harshly on essays, but if you're a decent writer you'll do fine. The only thing I disliked about her class was pop quizzes, they can really hurt your grade if you aren't prepared.
In all the times I've taken her classes, Mitzi has never disappointed! She is caring, funny, and always makes herself available to help. Without Mitzi's help, writing my paper would've been much more difficult. You can always count on Mitzi to do whatever she can to help you pass a class. I really recommend her, especially if you're new to writing.
I will always recommend Mitzi as a teacher! In this class, the readings are quite manageable, but you need to be prepared for quizzes. In addition, there are a few small papers to write. There is also a midterm and a final exam. Overall, these quizzes/papers/exams weren't too difficult, as long as you studied and put effort into them. Good luck!
I loved having Mitzi as my instructor! She is very friendly, easy to talk to, and has a fun sense of humor. Her grading criteria is clear and she provides many example papers and other resources to you. She holds some quizzes here and there (some for extra credit). Schedule writing time for yourself; it gets hard towards the end. Stay motivated!
I literally did not learn anything in this class. Assigns way too much homework for it being a 3 credit class. That said all the work is easy. Due dates and such are very unclear. She didn't tell us about a 5 page essay until 5 days before due-date. She had to reprint a calander for us 3 times and still messed it up. She is nice but annoying.
Has a slightly awkward sense of humor (like a lot of Clark instructors) that I like. Seems to be quite bad at organization but if you pay attention you'll know what to do when. She frequently stops by working groups to provide useful face-to-face interaction. She mostly hands back graded work on time and gives great feedback on written work.
my least favorite class I've had, she is so unorganized and bounces around so much i can barely keep track of what she is talking about and what it had to do with today's lesson, very confusing with assignments and often doesn't follow through with original plans. so much time-consuming reading, that most people wouldn' have time for. never again
Schrag has a great class and she really cares about her students. Shes available to help all the time and very flexible with how you attend class. She like to have students work together on projects but mostly for feedback reasons. I learned a lot in her class and I passed other classes because of the skills I learned there.
She cares a lot about her job and her students. She spends time to help you out and is really amazing person. Her lectures can be a little wacky and long but she really wants to help everyone achieve their best. ENG 102 is based on one 2500-3500 word paper on the topic of your choice. So do some research and she will help you with it. TAKE HER
A good teacher who provides good feedback and is understanding. Focuses on writing but grammar is important.
She is a wonderful lady, but she is very unorganized! She goes from A-Z-C and it was hard to follow. Honestly, it you're good at English you dont have to go to class. You have 3 papers due. Hers are longe then most English 101 professors require. Her grading is not always correct. She is a great friend though if youre someone who needs one on one
I took Dr. Schrag's class and she did wonderful as a teacher! She was extremely helpful and really generous with grades. Difficult reads occasionally but my class only had 3 papers in the entire quarter and 2 grammar quizzes that were fairly simple. Definitely one of my favorite professors.
Mitzi was awesome. This was my first college class and she made everything so great. She was super understanding and very helpful with my millions of questions. Overall great teacher.
Professor Schrag was amazing, she gave 2 discussions, and a quiz each week. The midterm and the final were similar: 50 multiple choice questions and a short essay question which was one of the discussions. I also had to do a 7-page essay about a prompt you picked. It's quite a load of work, although I pretty much didn't read anything and I passed.
She's not the fastest grader which can be difficult. Some of her instructions are a little overcomplicated. Most of the assignments are workshops which are only 3 points each while other assignments are up to 10 and then big assignments are like 100 points so it makes it hard to get a good grade even if you get 100s on every other assignment
Get ready to read! She is very thorough with her instructions, there's a lot of reading. She is very invested in her students, super available (after 12pm). You will have to work but she is there for you the whole time. The class was basically one main paper you worked on the whole quarter and a few smaller assignments. Very warm and helpful.
I took this course for one of my running start classes and Dr. Schrag is amazing. You can really tell that she cares for her students and is fully willing to help you with any questions you have. There is a fair bit of reading, but not an insane amount and she is a pretty easy grader. 10/10 would take again!
Dr. Schrag was an amazing aid to me in my first research paper I've ever written. She was always availible to meet with me on zoom or email me with help and feedback. The only negative thing I would have to say about this class is how little time we were given to write the rough draft of our final research paper.
The vast majority of the grade is based off of the final paper. She provides clear instructions on this and if you follow along with the rubric and participate in the workshops you'll do fine. Although it's optional, submit a rough draft. She provides a LOT of really useful feedback and will make getting a good grade on it very easy.
