She was okay, but not very prepared
She was a great teacher. She prints out the notes to help go quicker and always works through problems. She gives out extra credit every test. She also drops your lowest grade and if your final is higher than a previous exam, she drops that too. She's always available during office hours and easy to talk to.
I feel like this class should have been classified as an online class. She records videos for you to watch before coming to class and we only do group work in class. For someone like me, who hasn't taken any chemistry in a long time, I was so confused that I didn't know what questions to ask during class.
She is awesome. She knows the material backwards and forwards and is very approachable if you have any questions. Her tests are fair, and she offers a ton of extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Erdmann is an amazing professor. You can tell that she really cares about her students success. She does an awesome job explaining the material and answering any questions posed. If you have the opportunity I would defiantly take her. I wish that she taught gen chem 2
Absolutely amazing professor. Only professor that kind of gives you a "study guide" (exam outline) before each exam, tons of extra credit, and super helpful outside of class. She taught me all the materials once in a 40 minute 1 on 1 session in her office hours. Great teacher, very factual exams, nothing very conceptual that you have to think of.
Dr. Erdman is super chill. She's not an easy A teacher because she's lazy, she's an easy A teacher because she is a good teacher. She'll joke with you, give you extra credit, respond to emails even though she has like 200 students. She's the real deal! You'll see what I mean if you take her.
THIS TEACHER HAS CLASSES OF 150+ AND SHE MAKES IT FEEL LIKE A 15 PERSON CLASS. Take her! She just got outta grad school so she's lively and forgiving. MUCH MUCH MUCH EXTRA CREDIT!
By far my favorite Professor from Freshman year. Amazingly well paced class that is difficult enough to keep it interesting; but, easy enough for those who try to get an A. Lectures are almost always hilarious and are attendance is only mandatory for a reasonable percentage of the classes.
New at lecturing, so very easy grade wise. Tests are multiple choice, but she moves EXTREMELY fast in class. Never taken Chem before in my life, so I struggled, but I feel like prior knowledge would give you a nice A/B. Very nice woman, cares for her students and quick to respond and help. TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT.
She's an amazing teacher! Out of all the chemistry professors for CH115, I definitely recommend her. She made everything clear and understandable and was very helpful to her students. Tests are the main grades in that class. DO THE OWL HOMEWORK.
online class was ok because she was organized. class material covered was mostly memorizing ions , charges, lots of formulas that build on it. Let's you use periodic table. gives lots of ex credit so if you do your hw quizzes attend online meetings you will pass. got sick in the last month & had a B at that point even though I bombed every test.
She is a straight up B, If you miss a lab because of medical reasons. You better still come to class because she will mark you down as absent and you can only be absent 3 times out of the semester. If you miss 3 labs you have a automatic F in the class. She has no sympathy what so ever and will give you rude comments.
I took Erdmann for Gen Chem I and my only regret is that she doesn't teach Gen Chem II as well. She made chemistry more enjoyable than I ever thought it would be. Do your work and study a bit and you should be fine.
The entire lab was taught by TA's never even met the professor. The TA's were just as confused as the students. Online tasks didn't match up to what was done in the lab until the last couple of weeks. Luckily they were easy graders. you can easily wing it and get a B but don't expect to learn anything. TA's are rude to you if you are confused.
Lectures weren't as boring as other classes, mainly because she was funny and explained the chemistry well. Tests were overall easy if you studied the guide, extra videos, and power points she posted on Canvas. Some of the Owl home works were excruciatingly long, but those aren't made by her. She also had a lot of extra credit opportunities/points.
Dr. Erdmann was awesome! She explains things in such a simple way and even makes it enjoyable. She was also willing to explain any concept to you during her office hours. As long as you pay attention, do the OWL homework, and attend recitation, you should be fine. There was lots of extra credit, so it's possible to have a final grade over 100%.
Words cannot describe how thankful I am for Dr. Erdmann. I did not have a strong chemistry background and was so scared to take on CH115. However, Dr. Erdmann made class entertaining and really showed passion for her students' success. I was really able to do good in her class and STILL actually learn the material. (curves and gives extra credit)
I absolutely loved this class. Chemistry has never been my subject but she made it understandable while remaining challenging. I would take any class she teaches. It was refreshing to have a professor not take herself or the class overly seriously while still caring about our understanding and success.
She always responds to questions whether in class or through email. She's very entertaining and is good at explaining what will be on the exams.
Dr. Erdmann is my favorite professor and 10/10 would recommend. If you can ever take from her, you really should. She is wonderful to be around and fantastic at teaching. She really knows her stuff, but you should definitely go to class. She gives opportunities for Extra Credit, but if you do the work, it isn't too hard. Go to Mock Exams!
Dr. E is a wonderful professor. She has a great sense of humor and makes the lectures somehow fun. I had a lot of exposure to chemistry in high school, so this class was a breeze for me. Even if you know nothing about chemistry going in Dr. E will explain everything in very simple terms.
Tests were very hard, no matter how much I studied. She had an attitude. She thought she was funny (she wasn't).
Chem lab. Not bad.
I felt the tests are not hard especially the final exam. It can replace your lowest score, and the final curved a lot. I passed with an A. For the attendance, you can get full credits with more than 75% participation. I enjoyed her classes, she is very nice and answered questions. I plan to take her CH117 as well.
Erdmann is sweet, funny, and she is very good at teaching chemistry. Her tests tend to be a little harder than some professors, but still doable.
I love Dr. Erdmann. She was really funny and good at explaining chemistry so that its not that hard. She also offered a lot of extra credit opportunities, as all the gen chem profs did.
Great teaching style. Her class can be difficult if you don't have prior Chemistry experience (AP Chemistry most helpful). "Attendance" is responding to in-class questions so remember to bring your clicker. Online textbook comes with required code so don't bother buying a textbook. Exams can be difficult so complete her extra reviews before them!
CH117 Took her class based on reviews here, but she's awful. Reads off ppt in a fast monotone voice without explaining anything. Seems annoyed to teach. Class average was 50-60 on most exams. Tests are very HARD. Accuses students of cheating a lot. If you care about your GPA, stay away. Hamilton and March are better choices.
I took Erdmann for 115 & 117, which was a mistake. She has a very annoying (IMO) sense of humor, so she constantly tries to be quirky & relatable. Tests are more difficult than with other professors - for 117, class averages never reached above a 65. She has been very short/rude in emails with me, despite me being respectful and polite.
Had Erdmann for CH115 with no prior chemistry knowledge, and I have to say, she made this class very simple for me. Her lectures are clear to understand, and her test were not hard at all (averaged about a B). Highly reccommend!
Took Gen Chem 1 with zero background in Chemistry. It was not easy but Dr. Erdmann's lectures were so easy to understand and she is very reasonable when grading. Definitely taking her for Gen Chem II.
She is a great professor. She is funny and straight to the point. Her exams are somewhat difficult but she she gives lots of extra credit so it works out. As long as you participate by doing owl homework, using your clicker, and going to recitation you can pass with an A. Even if you make B's and C's on the exams.
She's a really great professor. If you don't understand, she is willing to help outside of class but you have to show effort. If your test grades are horrible, you can still have a chance to pass with participation points (clicker), recitation, and OWL HW. Also make sure to do all extra credit when they are assigned, those points help in the end.
Dr. Erdmann is a perfect example of what one DOESN'T want in a professor. After a semester filled with snarky e-mail responses, it's fair to say that Dr. Erdmann has little to no respect for her students, and she genuinely doesn't care to see you succeed. Don't expect her to round your 89.49% (literally) to an A. She won't do it. PRAY FOR GOOD TAs!
This class is lead by TAs and they dont care about your learning experience. They sit at the front of the lab and study for the DAT, MCAT, and/or other classes and pay the class no attention until midterm and finals. They didnt show us anything regarding the spectrometer and the following week expected us to be able to fully operate it.
Dr. Erdmann is a good choice for Gen Chem 1. She cracks jokes during lectures, and explains the lecture material well, just make sure you pay attention and take notes. Tests are not hard, but definitely study for them ahead of time. Extra credit is offered to get points back on each test as well. Clicker questions are used to track attendance.
Erdmann is wonderful! You can tell that she enjoys the material and the teaching. She is a very fair grader and tester and genuinely wants you to do well in her courses. She is very helpful in office hours and super approachable in general. I came in with minimal chem background and a disdain for chemistry, but she made me truly enjoy it!
This primarily TA run class is poorly designed. If you enjoy stumbling through vague instructions and explanations to get through the experiment, this class is for you. Dr Erdmann should be more involved in the material instead of letting the TAs run everything. Don't even get me started on the practical. I liked chemistry until I took this class.
I thought she was by far the best chem teacher I have ever had. Coming from a high school where our chemistry teacher was a bus driver, I can truly say that she us a Gem when it comes to teaching. If you do the OWL, read the book, and go to her office hours you will be fine. Like she says " I have no intention of screwing you over."
DR. Erdmann is by far the best Chemistry professor for General Chemistry II. She gives you a lot of opportunity to understand the material such as points back on your exams. You basically identify what you got wrong, make the corrections, and explain why you chose the answer. She gets you ready for the ACS final better than any other chem professor
I LOVED Dr. Erdmann. She really knows what she's talking about and is passionate about it! There is a plethora of resources to make sure you're successful in her class (recitation, online homework, clicker questions, supplemental sessions). Ended with over 100 in both classes. Fair amount of points back and bonus available. Take her!
Took erdmann for gen chem 1 and she was great. Chem has always been a little rough for me but they're are so many points to get back and exam recoveries that saved ur grade. Failed one of the test but studied real hard for the ACS which replaced my lowest grade. kinda hard class but really rewarding if you just participate and put in the work.
She gives very clear lectures that are easy to undertand. After every test she gives you a chance to recover some points by doing an extra assignment. She's got a good sense of humour and it helps during the lectures. I never liked chemistry but she made gen chem 2 pretty okay for me. You get credit for her clicker qs as long as you participate.
I had Erdmann for gen chem 1, and I loved it. Her tests are slightly more difficult than Marchs, but going to SI helped tons. I say attendance is required because some of the overall grade comes from clicker points (you receive only if you come to lecture). Textbook isnt necessary, you just need the access code for OWL homework. Study old tests.
This class has been so amazing so far. The lectures are easy to understand and she's super nice. She's pretty funny and understanding too. She's a solid choice for a professor and you can't go wrong by taking her. She offers points back on tests and extra credit in general.
Dr. Erdmann is a great professor. I didn't have a good professor for Gen Chem 1, so I entered Gen chem 2 with very little understanding, but I fell like Dr. Erdmann tough me both Gen Chem 1 and 2. You get the grade you earn in this class, the amount of work and effort you put in will reflect the grade you get. Go to office hours as well.
She is a great Chemistry teacher. I would recommend her if you are taking Chemistry
She is okay. Does not really explain things the best. I learned more from the organic chemistry tutor on youtube.
If you are a student who wants to be known by your professor, show up early the first day of class; people will rush to the front row. Find a study group early on. Study everyday. Work hard and you will be okay. She is helpful and has open office hours. She's overall amazing and funny. (She also really likes gooey brownies and deserves them all)
Class (90% of the time) felt rushed since there is a decent amount of material covered in a limited time slot. Unless you are pretty good at chemistry, you need to be top of it. She's pretty chill, but the grade you get is the grade you deserve. Barely used the textbookonly for corrections. Attendance is part of your grade (clicker)
Professor erdmann was a relatively good teacher. She taught all of the material and gave plenty of examples in class. There were multiple opportunities extra credit-wise to help you succeed in this class. The only problem I had was with her snarky attitude in mass emails and personal emails.
I love this woman, she is so hilarious. She really knows how to teach and she is also very understanding. She doesn't look approachable at first though but that's just her resting face lol. I actually enjoy chemistry with her. Her tests are also straight forward.
Dont take her class she is the worst professor. Her class was a waste of tuition money I didnt learn anything!!!
There are opportunities for points however these do not offset bad test grades. I feel that this class requires a pretty strong background in chemistry to understand most concepts or I might just be dumb idk. she puts a lot of effort into her lectures and seems to really care, however chemistry is- sad :( that said, shes the best choice for ch115.
A well rounded professor. Sarcastic sense of humor usually turns people off, I enjoyed it. There is some in class participation, its via clickers and correct answers don't matter. Had her during Corona and she made it work pretty well. Willing to discuss wrong answers with you and debate if you think you're right. Had her twice.
Chemistry is a difficult subject no matter who teaches it. Dr. Erdmann gives you plenty of resources to succeed and practice so that you are prepared for the exams. It is really up to you how you perform in this class, if you attend SI, complete the practice exams on Canvas, and maybe watch some additional videos on YouTube you will be alright.
Dr. Erdmann is extremely disrespectful toward her students. She clearly does not want to be teaching. She also designs impossible tasks that set students up for failure. She is the worst teacher I have ever had.
Very forgiving grading-wise. I recommend taking her class for your first year in chemistry
I loved Professor Erdmann. She acts like an actual person and not just a professor. The class is difficult and the OWLs are the worst part, but she makes it very bearable. Go to class and do what you can and she will respect you.
The class itself is easy however I credit my b to her because she was extremely unhelpful and arrogant. She does have many students, however is super inconsiderate and doesn't take blame for anything she does wrong. Extremely dissapointed that she was my chem teacher when I could have had many incredibly chem teachers out there
Dr. Erdmann is such a wonderful teacher. She has really dry humor and will never fail to make you laugh. The class is hard- its chem. She is gonna make it really easy to learn.
I love Dr. Erdmann. I had a limited chemistry background but she explained the material in such a great way that I made As and Bs on all of the tests. Also, she gives quite a bit of practice so you definitely have a good understanding of the material. She is extremely helpful and a little goofy but her lectures are always interesting.
Dr. E is a great teacher. She cares about her students and gives lots of extra credit. If you pay attention in class and stay on top of your assignments you will do well. She also loves to give restaurant suggestions (birmingham food is the bomb). She has proctored tests so you have to study. Lots of office hours and responds to emails regularly.
Dr. E gives plenty of resources to learn the material. She has been very helpful through these times of covid. The week of tests she puts practice test questions in Canvas that are extremely helpful.
She makes notes and gives us note taking worksheets. Her pre-lecture quizzes are a wee bit different, but optional for extra credit.
I hated this class. She is rude to her students and never wants to take responsibility for her mistakes. She also has very hard tests yes some people get an A or B but most don't make higher than a 70. She is also not good at teaching she wants you to teach yourself. She has the biggest ego of the entire UAB staff and it is honestly so annoying.
She so rude to her students when they accidently do something wrong or ask a question that she deems stupid. I don't know if she doesn't like teaching or she just hates teenagers but either way she is one of the worst professors on campus. I would not take her course again.
If you are reading this you are likely trying to decide whether to take Dr. March or Dr. Erdman for some Gen chem. Dr. E is a hilarious, dry humored teacher. If you are reading this during covid, she is the OPTIMAL teacher if you are looking to actually understand the material. A lot of the work is on you, but she will guide you more than March.
Dr. E was a great professor. I took her class during Covid so it was a remote class. She uploaded her lectures which are extremely helpful!! I made a C on three test even though I tried hard and still ended with an A. She tries really hard to help you! do well on section quizzes, recitation, and owl HW you will pass!!! These come in handy!!!
she is by far the best chem professor for 115. While her exams are hard, she gives ample resources to study with. Her content pages are EVERYTHING. Even if I missed lecture, I was very prepared for the exam due to her module notes.
I was so blessed to have Dr. Erdmann as my CH115 Professor! At the beginning of the year I was terrified of chemistry and was worried because I did not have a good experience with chemistry in high school. Dr. Erdmann was a great professor and provided lots of extra credit and good learning opportunities. Make sure to do all the OWL assignments!
Dr. E is gives really good material to review and take notes on. I never really attended lectures because I took the notes and did the section quizzes before class. She is not very good at answering specific questions in my opinion.
Honestly, she makes up tests that are literally nothing like the material taught. You dont even get 2.5 seconds to breath in her class. She doesnt give good examples because they are all easy and plain examples. If you were not good at chemistry in high school, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL. If you dont have to take OCHEM, DO NOT TAKE HER.
Chem is hard. It is going to be harder no matter what professor you have. She explains everything though, in the simplest way possible and gives you all the material you will need. She even has videos you can watch on your own time that go through sample problems step by step. I am also going to take her for CH117.
I had TAs for both of Dr. E's classes, so I never directly interacted with her. However, there is a ton of work involved with the lab class (group project, weekly quizzes, lab notebooks, videos, etc.) that made the class sort of overwhelming at times. I didn't think that the lab or the recitation helped, but I didn't have her for lecture.
This is a tough class, but Dr.E lays her expectations and how the class is going to work really clearly at the beginning. It's a good bit of work, but if you keep up with it you should do fine.
I did not learn even an ounce of knowledge in this class. She injected jokes about her in laws into her lectures and honestly came off as a smart alec who thinks she's funny. She isn't. She's rude and sparky at times, other times downright mean. Was so happy to take March for CH117.
Honestly just take March. I will not be taking her for ch117 because she is rude and honestly does not seem to care about her students at all. She claims to have a reversed teaching style but it does ntwork especially for online. Do NOT take this class if you dont have a strong chem background you will regret it. Honestly horrible and way overhyped
This course is hard! But she is a great teacher and wants you to succeed!
Dr. Erdman is fantastic! She is really hilarious and explains the complicated parts of chemistry really simply. Shes so funny and actually cares about all of her students. If struggling at all, ask questions after class or attend office hours. She is very willing to give you as much help as you need.
Dr. E is one of the most snarkiest and passive aggressive professors at UAB. She lays down her expectations in the syllabus. If you email her about something she will not respond if it's in the syllabus. Due dates are really important and this class is material heavy and fast, but you have to put in the WORK. Her lectures are okay and test are HARD
I really liked Erdmann, but there's A LOT of work in her class, so take notes! I took notes for each section/completed the section quizzes and got A's on almost every test even though I studied the day of. She gives out so much bonus credit its ridiculous. Its hard to get in contact with her though, so if you have an issue, bring it up after class.
Dr. E works hard to make sure that her students really understand the material. So goes so far as to make review pages that the students should look at before the lecture, and gives plenty of examples. I always did the examples that she put on the review pages, and I always made either an A or B on her quizzes.
Dr. E has a very detailed syllabus, so do not email her with a question that can be answered with the syllabus because she will not respond. Very boring lectures and did not give very good practice examples. Not very good at explaining and you have to learn the material for class the night before!! I do not recommend.
Dr. E is a fantastic chem professor. Be sure to read the content pages for the lesson prior to class and pay attention in lecture and you will be fine. Do the OWL HW and section quizzes because it is additional points to help your grade. She gives tons of opportunities to make an A in the class but you have to put the work in and learn the material
Canvas page is FULL of everything you need to be successful in this course. Provides you with more than enough explanation and examples for each section. TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAMS! These are designed from past exams and prepare you extremely well with how questions will be asked so you know what/how to study! Put the effort in & you will do well
I really liked Dr. Erdmann I would definitely recommend her. Her lectures were very easy to understand and she was very personable and put things in simple terms. She gives detailed content pages that outline everything you need to know in each section and gives lots of extra practice. If you study and do the owl homework then the tests arent bad.
Take her over any other chem teacher but this class is very fast pace considering all of the other classes and assignments u are expected to do in chem. Her quizzes have little questions, making it very easy to get a bad on them, however, she has a lot of opportunities for bonus points
You can have a great time or a horrible time in Professor Erdmann's class. This depends on attending her office hours, having good attendance, and taking advantage of her several extra credit assignments. Professor Erdmann is a very kind woman who cares about the needs of her students and helps direct students who struggle with Chemistry.
Dr. E seems like a fun person, but not a very beneficial professor. There were plenty of times where passive aggressive emails were sent out. She expects you to be understanding with her situations, but when it comes to her students situations, she is less than understanding. Gives bonus points, BUT they require very specific criteria.
Make sure to not wear leggings in lab because they make a big deal and send you home if you do. Pre-lab lectures are long and hard to understand. Practical and final aren't too bad. Mostly depends on what TA you get for this class.
Lots of math. Canvas also never explained the experiments clearly. Pre-lab quizzes + in class worksheets make or break your grade so put in effort. The lab practical sucked, make sure you know how to fully use a spectrophotometer. Final consists of cumulative questions + lab quiz answers found in lab modules. Also take advantage of extra credit!!
Tests are hard but if you want to do well, I recommend memorizing every little thing from the lectures + taking the practice tests multiple times. She gives you very little time to study for the tests while having to do OWL hw + recitation each week. Time management is key for this course. Final is from the ACS exam. Put in effort & you'll be fine!
Dr. E is a great professor and gives lectures that are easy to understand. Module quizzes are hard; however, you can redo 1 quiz, and the lowest is dropped and replaced with the average of the other's score. Lots of easy points and bonus points.
I love Dr. E, she was so engaging and laid out everything you need to do to succeed. If you do what she tells you, it's an easy A.
Dr. E was fantastic. The course itself goes over a LOT of material and I think she did a pretty good job of getting it all in. Last 2 weeks or so was a bit rushed, but honestly it's like that for every prof so oh well. Overall I'll definitely be taking her CH117 course at all costs. (Also TAs were VERY helpful in the things that got rushed)
I was skeptical to take Dr. Erdmann at first after reading some of the reviews, but she is a great professor! The class was pretty interactive through the use of online poll questions. She gives practice quizzes and hints about quiz questions during class, so pay attention. She is sarcastic, but was never rude. She made gen chem ii easy!
Dry humor, and good lectures make the class half way enjoyable. The only issue is that she uses canvas to grade things which can screw you over if youre not careful
ok teacher but so were the others so i heard. gives A TON of extra credit which is why i got an A like up to 40 pts. can be very particular about things but the class really is not bad. 20 OWL hws which can be a pain sometimes but not hard to make 100 on. 8 quizzes, lowest score dropped, our class got a redo quiz too. do stuff on time& itll be fine
Good professor, but this is not an easy class. You won't get anything out of it if you don't put in the work. Dry humor + good at explaining things clearly makes lectures easier to follow. Very clear + reasonable about expectations. Lots of assignments, but still doable, just make sure you don't fall behind bc its hard to catch up.
One of the best STEM professors I have ever had. I would take her for every chemistry course if I could. The amount of material she gives you outside of the lecture as supplemental tools to help understand the topics is unmatched. Quick to help students succeed. TONS of extra credit opportunities. If you do badly, you probably didn't ask for help.
Dr. E's class was THE BEST chemistry class I have taken. She is very good at explaining the lessons during class and even has a typed out lecture for each individual lesson. You even have reading quizzes for a large amount of bonus points. You have OWLs (homework) but very easy to get a 100. Participation points as well. Quizzes are also doable.
She gives so many opportunities for bonus points and has amazing lectures. If you read the typed out modules before her class and use those to study for the quiz, then you will do well in her class. Outside of class, she has a lot of office hours, so she is accessible. Pretty easy to get an A.
Dr Erdmann really knows her stuff. Stay up to date on OWL and always do the section quizzes. Read all of her module material and study off that. She gives lots of opportunities for bonus points FOR EVERYONE if you do the work. Do well on her module quizzes so you do not have to do very well on the ACS final exam.
Dr. E was a great teacher. She is very helpful in and out of class. Make sure to keep up with the homework, and it's really helpful to read the lecture the day before class. Completing the practice quizzes before a test as many times as possible also really helps. Put in the effort and take advantage of visiting office hours if you have questions.
She is an amazing professor and offers lots of bonus points that will save your grade. I would highly recommend taking her. I took her for gen chem 1 and 2 and while it can be difficult, she wants you to do well.
Dr. Erdmann is one of the best professors I have had at UAB. I took her for Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 and she was great. She is very good at teaching difficult subjects and provides students with a lot of resources. MAKE SURE you keep up with the pre-lecture quizzes, the amount of bonus they give can raise your grade a whole letter. 10/10 professor
Dr. Erdmann is one of the best professors I have had at UAB. I took her for Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 and she was great. She is very good at teaching difficult subjects and provides students with a lot of resources. MAKE SURE you keep up with the pre-lecture quizzes, the amount of bonus they give can raise your grade by a whole letter.
I took Dr. E after having taken IB Chemistry HL (which is similar to AP Chem). Her class, to me, was an easy A. All you need to do to make a good grade is read the pre-readings and take the section quizzes (which she offers 25 bonus points for!), do the OWLs on time, and show up to lectures. The tests and final exam are both easy with little effort
Dr. E is one of the best professors I have taken. She offers many resources for you to succeed and learn the material. She is respectful and can make funny jokes in lectures. Her lectures are helpful and she offers office hours for extra help. She offers so many bonus points and is a phenomenal professor. If you have to take chem, take her!!
I took her online for 115, and I'm really glad I did. She uses relatively simple examples in videos (our lectures for online), but she explains these concepts very well. She also gives out a lot of extra credit. She has these readings before the videos, so I highly recommend reading those before actually watching them.
Dr. E is a FANTASTIC chem professor, and her humor is really good. The bonus points alone bumped my grade up by a whole letter
Dr. E was such an amazing professor. Her lectures are helpful and include memes (which is always nice). Dr. E made sure always to give us an opportunity to succeed by giving us extra resources and extra credit assignments. Her humor is so fun, and she wears a different Converse every day. I would 100% recommend others take her chemistry classes.
Good, not great. Quiz heavy. SO much extra credit, you'll be just fine if you put effort into the quizzes.
She was okay
I did not like this class at all. I do not recommend it. There is a lot of extra credit, but make sure you do all of it. Also, you can't see your grade until finals week. If you do decide to take this class, make sure you know everything about chemistry already. There are so many quizzes it will take up every bit of time you have.
Her teaching style was alright, but confusing at the same time. She uses memes to make Lecture notes less boring and even small corny jokes. There was a lot of homework with an unformatted delay in grading.
Although her classes are difficult, she was very kind if you got to know her and receptive.
She is the WORSE. I will NEVER take her again. She zeros all your grades up until finals so you never know what your grade really is until finals. She sends nasty emails she emailed me and told me to drop the class because she thinks I will not be able to pass her class. I told her I was sick so she would not count is against me she did not care.
the class wasnt hard but im familiar with the content already. i find it hard to go to class bc u learn the material beforehand. attendance is mandatory but v generous. gives you everything you need to succeed but u have to make use of the material she gives or u wont do well.
She gave lots of extra credit and was fair when grading. The easy reading quizzes and attendance are a life-saver. Her lectures are pretty bare bone so be sure to read the online textbook ahead of time.
She clearly does not want to pass her students. What kind of professor gets mad that you want until the last day to do a quiz. It's not that deep. Most sane people want to study as much as they can.
0/10 would not recommend.
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with Dr. Erdman's teaching methods. Throughout the semester, I observed a consistent lack of professionalism and a rude demeanor towards students. Made snide comments about student questions or contributions in class and spoke condescendingly to students, undermining their confidence.
96% Everything youd wanna know: on the syllabus Module quizzes (exams) weigh big time If u do the extra credit (ec is easy) and work on time its much easier to get A, use those as cushions for final Dr march's course is p similar Can miss a decent amount of classes and get full scores for attendance She is very nice & patient, wont budge on rules
Finished w/ 96, I was worried about her bc of the reviews but she is a reasonable person, shes actually really nice and helpful when you talk to her, she likes to be fair. Gives a ton of extra credit, do it. If you do good on exams and get everything else done on time + extra credit you can bomb the final and get an A (I did that).
quizzes are half the grade and are hard, final got scaled 70 multiple choices it was alright, too much homework save yourself the headache. communication from the professor is terrible she thinks she is too good to respond and makes fun of students for asking questions
very easy class if you have any prior chemistry knowledge at all, and tons of extra credit opportunities.
GOAT. Very fair class, and my only complaint is the recitation can bring the grade down really hard.
If you've taken her 115, it's the same thing. She's pretty cool as a person. The content is harder but it's average difficulty for the course imo. It's only harder if you're taking other core classes. 70% iclicker points is needed for full attendance points. Decent amount of extra credit. Module exams are online. Just an average class, A is doable
I love Mitzy Erdmann
I took her for both semesters of gen chem and it's not her fault that the material especially in gen chem 2 is so hard! She did a great job of helping us navigate thru gen chem 2
AWESOME PROFESSOR
Great professor!
I fw Dr Erdmann
Dr Erdmann is a must take! She makes chem enjoyable
Shes awesome
Dr. E was a fantastic professor. I took her for both gen chem 1 and gen chem 2. She is very clear on what is expected of you to pass her class. She has everything lined out in the syllabus before classes even start. She works with the class as a whole and will not give just one person a chance to earn extra credit, she does offer it though- DO IT!
hardest class ive ever taken
As long as you do work outside of class and genuinely work hard to study the material for this class, it's barbecue chicken.
She's very good at explaining stuff, but Chem 115 is just a tough class.
Genuinely the worst instructor I have ever had (including k-12). Maybe shes alright in person, but do NOT take her online class. Shes very unprofessional and obnoxious, does not grade anything except "exams" (module quizzes) until finals week, and surprises students with these "exams" by uploading them to canvas due in two days. avoid at all costs.
Chat do not take her unless you already know everything. If you take her be prepared to basically teach yourself over the summer and throughout the semester
Dr. Erdmann is hilarious. The material in 115 can get particularly challenging at times, but the way the reading quizzes, homework and attendance points are structured helps students not to fail if their understanding of a concept falls through. Dr E is very available during lectures and office hours to help students with whatever they need.
Terrible. Do not take this class unless you want to deal with mental exhaustion.
She's good at making hard concepts easier to understand. She's very accessible when it comes to getting help and is probably the best teacher to have for chemistry. You just have to get past the off-putting attitude lol.
Many extra credit opportunities. You need to know materials before coming to lecture. If English is your second language, take the practice test. Her direction wording is kinda hard to understand sometimes. If you're locked out, you will fail, which means...if you lock in, you will succeed.
