do NOT take an online class with this professor. As a straight A student with 5 other psych classes under my belt, I still found this course much harder and stressful than need be. Don't take this professor!!!! I had such a hard time with her.. Her exams are hard and besides her paper # 2 is unbelievable, she doesn't give you enough guiding and expects so so so much of you. To have an idea I had to redo a paper 3x for her, and I'm a A/B student.

I agree with the other posts. I too am a A+ student and this professor was very harsh on me. She has a complex because she is a PhD teaching at a community college. Otherwise I cannot justify her arrogance and harsh comments at all. I still have the emails to prove it!

Arai has only one concern and that is herself. Every class she talked about how good she is an how everyone loves her. She was on time to class once and was typically 15min late but as late as 30min. She taught a 15min class one week. All questions are answered with "read the book ". Students have mandatory meetings that she doesn't show up for .

As much you want to succeed in her class it is very difficult to do so. She does not reply to emails, and constantly shows up late to class. When trying to talk to her in person she is always in a rush. Hard to take her class serious when she herself doesn't. Do not take her!!!

What I want to know is why she insists we email her with questions but she never answers them? Please don't tell me you'll try your best to help me when clearly you dont..

Although she is funny and easy to talk to when it comes to teaching she fails to do so When I missed classes due to issues at home she wasn't willing to work with me. When I asked questions she spoke to me very condescendingly. Her study guides in my opinion weren't very helpful at all when it came time to take the test. Be ready to teach yourself

This class is a joke. she is always late to class and just uses power point for everything. She speaks to you as if your a little kid. Nothing in the class is related to psychology most of the time and she is a horrible professor who i wouldn't recommend any one to take. her assignments are not listed clearly and yells at you if not completed.

She was horrible and I would never take her class agin. Very unclear in her lectures when students ask questions. The students could answer the questions better then she could. She was clueless. Half of my quizzes I argued with the answers because her lecture would say one thing and the book would say another. The mid-term was so frustrating.

Professor was not caring for the students in the class and is not helpful at all. The material for teaching is unacceptable online. He does not organize his assignments and does not clarify for the student when in need. He was not a helpful teacher, the assignments were unclear and did not provide proper instructions.

The professor's way of organization needs major improvement. Her assignments were unclear especially the group presentation. I had to constantly contact the professor about the assignments because the information provided was unclear and directions were not provided. The professor was also not helpful with students includinf myself and others.

This professor is really bad when it comes to explaining the theory. She is 30 minutes late every class and she is not willing to work with students when they have doubts.

She is very unprofessional. Her feedback is very poor and rude. She doesn't explain the topics well. She expects you to do most of the work on your own and she is not willing to work with students when they have doubts.

This professor 's grading criteria is too complicated to follow because she likes to pick. Your papers must be perfect.

Professor is the reason why I was put on anxiety medication she expects everything to be perfect. only teaches class based off powerpoint slides and she seems bothered when students have questions. save yourself from the stress.

Doesn't teach anything, but gives assignments and expects you to figure it out. Unreasonable, condescending, unhelpful. Does not answer questions, just repeats what she already has said as if you must be stupid not to understand. Rude and disrespectful.

This professor is the worst one I have ever had. They are extremely disorganized and their class format is terrible. You never know when you have something due and the course was way too long (11 week summer). They give group projects that are nearly impossible to do over an online class and they expect a very high level of perfection-worst teacher

Don't recommend it for full-time students. I don't disagree she can't have standards on her grading it becomes a problem when the professor doesn't makes an effort to explain the concepts well, is hard to contact with, and grades only one way sounds like a power trip to me never taking this professor again, would suggest picking another professor.

This professor is not really accessible outside of class. When communicating with her through email, she comes across as rude or harsh. Would not suggest taking a class with her because it is very stressful and her coursework/ criteria can be difficult.

This class was horrible, I do not recommend for any full time students the only people I see genuinely succeeding in her class are students that aren't full time and/or don't have a lot of responsibilities outside of college. I do not recommend any classes with her, she is a harsh grader, when you reach out to her or when she gives you feedback about what exactly is wrong it's extremely unhelpful, all the classmates I interacted with only had negative things to say about her, she teaches/assigns work as if you don't have other classes, doesn't explain concepts well.

AVOID this professor at all cost.Testing is monitored via camera and her study guides are useless especially because the material is not on the test. She is harsh at grading. It is nearly impossible to pass her class unless you don't work and it is the only class you take. Glad I retook the class with another professor who explained materials well.

I took this PSY 219 web with this professor it was the worst mistake I could have made. To begin I took the self pace course because my life is busy and I would rather do it on my own time however that was not the case in this course she gives group projects I emailed her asking if I could just it on my own and she was very rude and refused.

She is rude and condescending, if you have any questions get ready to be spoken to like a child. Drop, or transfer out of the class asap! Honestly this is the most stressful class I've had so far. The last paper is very difficult and she is a very harsh grader. I couldn't drop the class because it was passed the deadline, i wish i had.

The moodle curriculum is not organized well and she expects you to know things that aren't in the text or on any of the lectures. If you have a question about anything she will talk down to you/make you feel stupid for even asking her anything. Worst teacher I've had so far, she cares more about how you respond to emails than how to teach. RUN!

If you would like to have a stress free semester, do not take a class with this professor. Professor Arai is a nice lady outside of her teaching and she is very funny in class..HOWEVER! She does NOT accept late work and is not understanding that students have work outside of class. Tests are monitored via camera, talks to you like a child when you need help Sure Arai, you have a PH.D, but don't use that to brag about your career & life!

Exams: only 1 try. group proyect some of the reason I take online courses is because I work 2 jobs and do some school work in between, this course is good for students only going to school without working and no parents. really hard to understand her moodle since is all over the place, the book is mandatory only a book she approves.

If you know the subject, yeah she is a good teacher. But if you don't, you are not learning anything, because she CANNOT teach. I had the worst time of my life. Please be diligent of how you respond to emails and communicate, as Professor Arai can appear petulant; unfortunately, there are only two professors that teach this course, as it is mandated for psychology degrees. Frankly, this is one of the most vexing courses I have ever taken and there are many things wrong with how this course is taught.

No compassion or patience for students. Continuously brags about having her PHD and teaching at other school, saying Community Colleges have to keep up. ?

While I may have passed her class, it was through the help of my old high school science teacher vs the professor herself. One thing I don't think is fair, is the fact you'll constantly mention you have a PhD, but won't HELP other students get to that point. The most rude professor I've ever had at. BHCC.

Her notes are not up to date,she is a very hard grader.A professor whose sole interest is to just award low grades and does not follow suit with whether or not the student understands what she teaches.I don't like this professor as my grades are being affected by her style of teaching.I wish the Dean and authorities of the school will sit her down

I didn't like how she taught; all she did was read off of slides but didn't explain anything. When someone would ask a question or for more elaboration she would tell us to review the slides. My grandma passed when I took her class and she only gave me a week-long extension. She has no type of remorse or empathy for her students at all.

The homework was to read the textbook and watch a video of her old lecture. When it was time for class, Arai would reuse the entire lecture video almost word-for-word. Made coming to class boring, predictable, and overall exhausting. The quizzes are hard, and there is almost no way to fix ur grade if you fail them. Avoid at all costs!

Provides no grading rubric or instruction on how to properly complete assignments, but grades harshly on things she decides we were "supposed to do." Her replies all comes across as rude and arrogant, as if she's speaking down to you. Constantly running late or unable to work computer equipment necessary for the class.

If you learn well from lazy slideshows then this is the class for you. She grades incredibly harshly for somebody who gives zero instructions and does not provide a rubric for how she will grade it. She will dock points for failing to meet the expectations she did not communicate in any way and never allows for a rewrite. AVOID.

I've tried taking this one course 3 different times. I was hoping that since it had been two years since the first two attempts that maybe things had changed and she's gotten better. Nope, 2025 and still the same thing. Very rude and condescending tone, never ask to correct your own work for partial credit and NEVER submit a pdf file. Good luck.

I have never failed an essay or paper, yet she not once went over Literary review papers vs the typical essay format. Many of us had to rewrite our papers because of this. If you even a minute late, don't bother. You will receive a 0 for 25% of your grade. Her test's are horribly written as well.

Impossible to get a good grade regardless of how much time I put in. I even met with her, asked her advice on something specific, followed her advice exactly, and got the worst grade out of any assignments. Stay away from this class if you care about your GPA!
