He is not hard but not easy. If you have some of his old quizzes and tests then you will get an A else you better get some quizzes. He is a very straigh forward guy so don't try to mess with him in anyway.

Very organized professor. His course web page is very helpful. Demanding, but fair.
Love his teaching style. Lots of quizzes, but you learn a lot!
He's a very good teacher. Nice pace for learning and portrays the material in a way that students can understand. His quizzes are tricky at times so you really need to study homework and notes. Demanding but fair. He wants you to learn.

He's a very clear instructor, but somewhat monotone at times. Enthusiastic about the material and always quick with feedback and always available for help. You will work hard in his class but you will learn a lot and it will be worth it.
Very simple professor. Study the material outside of class, and you won't even have to show up. But if you do, hes lectures are very simple to understand.

Great professor, just don't fall behind in his class. he will bury you.
A good teacher, fair in grading and interested in the students learning.
He was a good instructor, people just need to pay attention in his class. He is avaliable for any kind of help, which is very nice. I liked being in his class and also enjoyed it.
Professor Hassoun is very unclear, boring, confusing and unhelpful. Do not take this class with Hassoun!!!
Class was long, boring and demanding. The grading proceure sucks! He had TA's grading anything and everything, academic or not. Could not even cough without been marked down.
professional and always available for help. you will not pass this course unless you understand the subject well.
I have never learned more from one man in one semester. You must come prepared to his class. Expect to be challenged. One of Wayne’s best.
One word decribes this man "PROFFESIONAL".....
The class is designed for the "serious" incoming engineering students. It teaches you many fundamentals that you will use over and over throughout your studies. A GREAT course designed to introduce the students to many aspects of engineering. I would recommend taking this course with this Prof.
Professor Hassoun is a tremendous teacher. He is probably my favorite teacher i have had so far at WSU. Huge fan of how he uses a tablet PC to teach the class. Very Effective. Good work Hassoun. Take this guy!
A tough topic taught with laser-like clarity. I too liked the tablet PC as a teaching tool, which makes examples and enswering student questions in class a cinch. Always available to talk after class about any topic. Would actively seek to take another course with him. ENG2620 was hard, though.
Seamless transition from concepts to hands on applications.
Has a great understanding of the material he teaches and presents it in an organized fashion.
Okay I don't know if he tries to act high class or if he's just against human communication. I find it difficult to see this guy talking to a person about anything other than engineering. If your looking for a prof. who can really communicate to you like a human, not a robot, then look elsewhere.
He was very helpfull and allowed us to express our own ideas. He made the class fun because he allowed us to manage our time and do things our way
This class was and awesome class. The teacher went in depth on practically every lesson and was always open and available for questions. He also encouraged and allowed the expression of ideas. His midterm and final projects allow for your creativity to go wild. Great class for a incoming engineer
This class is definitely beneficial to an incoming engineering student. I recommend it for those students who seriously want to dedicate a lot of time and effort and learn. The proffessor is good overall.
This class was fun and challenging. Too many quizzes during the semester, but the mid-term and final challenge made up for it. The challenges were hard to do but they took all the gues work out of what will be expected out of an engineering student. GREAT class!
The class became fun and interesting as the semester was coming to an end. Though a little intimidating, the proffessor was well prepared and mastered all the material he tought.
Hassoun never would help you with projects that you worked on or questions you asked. The TA did most of the work while Hassoun tought in the front of class. The quizes where extremely hard and he doesn't give a good curve for the final grades.
Dr. Hassoun is a special professor. He is very helpful and very polite. I suggest every student who really wants to educate himself/herself to take class with him. He is very intelligent, and you can not fool him. If you are a free rider, He should not be your choice.
Dr. Hassoun is one of my best professors at Wayne State. He definitely not easy, but I learned a lot in his class. He was also very accessible and was great help when writing difficult assembly programs.
Hassoun is a very smart professor and he would answer any question you might have. However he is not easy. you will have to work hard to get a good grade in his class. Not to mention you will learn a tremendous amount from him. I am more than pleased with this class and I learnt more than I imagined.
SUPERB teacher-very knowledgable, clear presentations, perfect pace & lecture notes are a+ be warned that he is not easy (weekly quizzes!), but you will definitely learn the info; for high retention he is the professor for this course and likely others;a bit dry of a speaker, so don't be expecting entertainment but def in my top 5 for quality
Great class! If you go to class and do the assignments class will be easy. If you miss class and do homework it is easy to go far behind since material is extremely complicated
the quizes were hard and not really beneficial. However, the midterm and the final is where you learn all of your problem solving skills. Hard to study fir quizes, learn how to program fast and don;t wait.
Very Clear and Very Helpful. Quizzes are a bit challenging. A very fun class and very interisting. Everything this professor did was right on target. He knows the material very well. One of the best Professors I had a Wayne State so far. Anybody Interisted in Engineering take this class with Hassoun.
Do the lecture readings and the exercises and you should be fine for the quizes. Good professor.
The Best Teacher Ever. Should be the Dean of Engineering.

Very good teacher, really knows what he's talking about, take him and you will not be sorry. Highly recommended for all engineers
great knowledge of material, extremely helpful in learning programming and design,
Dr Hassoun is a good teacher as long as you LISTEN to his lecutures. He is not helping slackers. Really funny guy. I wish I could have him in all engineering classes.
Hassoun is not an easy professor, but he is a very good professor. Don't expect him to curve anything. He makes very clear presentations. You will learn something if Hassoun is your professor.
He is a very demanding teacher, that wants his students to learn. His take home quizes for this class took quite long to finish, about 3 days of work avg. I would suggest to try as hard as you can on each quiz and get as many points as you can, it helps around finals time. Double check your quizs on mathcad and ask him for help, to get more points.
Dr. Hassoun is an excellent professor. He cares for his students and do his best to teach them. Although take home quizes were long, each problem was well designed to teach or bring student's attention to something important. If you want to learn, you do your best to take as many classes as you can with Dr. Hassoun.
great teacher.
Hassoun is a very fair person. His class may not be the easiest; however if you put your time in, you will come out with a great deal of knowledge and a decent grade.
Prof. Hassoun's class is very well organized and structured. He has very high expectations of his students. His take-home quizzes are very time-consuming and difficult (some take 4-5 days to complete). Word of advice: when he assigns homework, start working on it right away - don't wait until the night before - you won't finish it if you wait!
Hassoun is a very skilled and experienced teacher, but i did not like his teaching style ( sitting down all the time while showin slides on projector)...He is also not a fair person and will not try to understand your situation no matter what happened. Take his class, but be prepared to invest ALOT of your time and dont expect him to be reasonable.
He is a very fair teacher. He tries to look for the real sincere students. Has well organised structure of teaching but grading is difficult. But you end up learning a good amount with a decent grade.
not a good professor at all. Will be nice n fair only to those who suck up to him. Avoid him.
time consuming class, you must spend a lot of time and work hard for your grade. This is one class that I left feeling like I have learned a great deal. People looking for an easy A will hate it, but If you're looking to be the best engineer you can be, Hassoun is the way to go. The grading is clear so it's all about your dedication. A great prof.
He is a great professor. He keeps high expections from students. Gives a lot of work but its worth. Do well in his quizes and the web-page assignments u will end up adding a good score for you final. He is a fair professor. Doesn't want anybody to gain credit for somebody else work.
Good solid teacher, makes you work hard, but useful work that can be used later. Holds students to a high standard, but if you care about learning this is the prof for you.
Excellent teacher. Take his advice and you will do great in class.
Great teacher! If your taking any ECE courses, try and get him. Clear, concise, easily understood and always willing to help you out. Great teacher, great results.
If you do the assigned readings and all the work you will get a good grade. Don't show up late for class!!
He gives ALOT of work and sometimes refuses to be considerable. He is skillful but i hate his teaching method(sitting to his tablet pc and givin the lecture). He can be a very strict grader.Beware!!
This guy is terrible. His take-home quizzes are very hard and almost impossible to complete. You don’t learn much from him because the quizzes are so hard you can’t follow along and learn. He is very overrated, if possible, take someone else, you’ve been warned.
IF YOU'RE READING THIS PROFESSOR HASSOUN, PLEASE RETIRE!!!! YOU'RE WAY PAST DUE!!! WE CAN ALL GET TOGETHER AND HAVE A FUNDRAISER SO YOU WON'T HAVE TO TEACH ANYMORE!!!DO IT FOR ALL OF US WHO ARE DREAMING OF GRADUATING!!!
You will definitely learn a lot from him. In his lectures, he will start from basics so everybody can follow. However, don’t slack even once.. you won’t be able to catch up later. In summer term, quizzes are take home and very challenging, so better have plenty of time to spare. As long as you give your best, you should be fine.

Lecture is long and boring and tests are very tough. You will have to work very hard just to pass with a C-. The bottom line is that there are much better professors out there that will give you a better grade for less work and you will actually learn something from them. Avoid any course that he teaches and boycott him.
Yes, he is demanding. However, you will learn a lot from him. Willing to sit down with you and help. Take advantage of office hours. For me he is one of the best professors in ECE.
Very experienced teacher. Nice person. Clear lectures. I like his use of a tablet PC for delivering his lectures. Make sure you start working on the (take-home) quizzes as soon as they are assigned. Zero tolerance for cheaters. Avoid him if you are looking for an easy grade. Take him if you want to be a better ENGINEER.
This is great professor who is very skilled in the area of engineering. He holds high expectations for all of his students, this is because he wants you to strive to be the best. Nothing comes easy....if its too easily gained you should not want it. He is very helpful, you will learn a great deal of info needed in the future. I got an A.
not good at all
Fun class. You build and program Lego mindstorm robots and you work in teams. Quizzes are a bit difficult (programing part). Professor is nice and knows his stuff.
Professor Hassoun does a great job in teaching BE1200. This guy knows a lot about lego mindstorms and programming!
Clear and professionally funny.
Very good professor. Is a bit tough with grading, but fair. Extremely knowledgable, and very easy to understand.
Best teacher ever
One of my favorite engineering professors. Hassoun gives extremely clear presentations of the material. Covers a huge amount of information but makes it all very understandable. There is a textbook but his course website is so robust that you don't necessarily need it. I highly recommend Prof Hassoun.
Avoid this prof.
Overall a great professor and class. He seems strict, but he's actually really nice. Pay attention in class and take notes on EVERYTHING. This is a must to pass quizes. He goes over most of the stuff in class, but the books are sometimes useful for ideas and such. ALWAYS do the website updates, it will save your grade. Especially the E.C. team one.
He expects a lot from his students. The class is not easy, even though it is a freshman level class.....but if you apply yourself, you'll leave the class with a wealth of information. Very hands on and prepares you to work in teams where there are people with various engineering disciplines
the people on this site rating this professor must be out of there minds. He is a horrible professor. Its an intro class and he makes it really hard! you never know what to study! good luck getting a B or higher.....
If you guys are having trouble with BE1200 and ECE2620 i would be concerned...he is hard but he is a great teacher you will appreciate how hard he works you later on...one of the top profs in ECE...you will learn much in his classes
I am sure he is an excellent teacher for the upper level classes, however, for beginners, not so much. I had no prior experience to programming and I felt lost most of the semester. I barely managed to keep a good grade.
Dr. Hassoun did a great job at making the course interesting. He is challenging but fair. You can learn a great deal with him.
He makes a 3 credit class feel like a 5 credit class. Take reverse instead of robotics for BE 1200
He is a difficult teacher if you're unwilling to try. He assigns you into teams to challenge you to work with others AND so you have a others to help you understand the material. I was electronically inept before this class and could still probably program an RCX because of this professor. Difficult because it forces you to understand code behavior
he is a good teacher, prepare for all lectures very well, he want to give you the information in easy manner and proof that using software. I'm interesting in this subject.
Very fair with grading so long as you put forth your best and honest effort. I've learned a lot in his BE1200 class towards my engineering major. An excellent class that I'd recommend to any other student (referring to the teacher/time/class/workload combination)
He's a very excellent Professor. He gives you the grades that you earn. There's no way that you can slack off with Hassoun as a Professor and succeed however, so be sure to put in your half of the work. He is giving the information after all, just use it to your advantage.
I learned a lot in his class. His quizes were impossible to predict, and didnt do good on them at all. If it wasnt for the Midterm and Final i would have done poorly. I finished with an A- but no one in the class got an A. The semester before Had only Two A's. If you have him good luck He'll make you mad you took the class
professor Hassoun is one of the best teachers at Wayne state, he is very fair and respectful to his students, i feel very proud that there is an arabic teacher as intelligent as Dr. Hassoun. highly recommend to take his class, you'll get a strong grip of the material, but never miss any of his lectures.
Has one of the most unjust grading styles. He deducts points for things completely out of your control. When HIS batteries died in HIS flashlight, our WHOLE GROUP lost all credit because our robot wouldn't follow a DEAD flashlight. He said: "Sorry, no second tries". That's just one example, I have plenty that won't fit here! Smart but crude.
Best ECE professor at WSU. You will thoroughly understand any course you take with him, because he stresses the fundamentals. Maybe a little unfair on grading, but study hard, do the homework, and never skip a lecture, you will do fine.
he's one of the best professors I have met at Wayne, but his exams/quizzes are the most challenging ones. I admire him a lot and he's very professional and knowledgeable
Lectures out of what looks like a book-in-progress with a ton of illegible markups (Journal "modules"). Read the modules before class and understand them well. Reading the book is also helpful, but that will be a difficult and independent undertaking. Don't fall behind no matter what.
The most boring professor ever. If you don't stop him, he would go on and on. He does not give time to the student to ask during the lecture. I took two classes with him in one semester, and in the middle of the semester, I was about to change my major because of him. He made my life miserable! I am 'A' type student and I barely passed his classes.
One of the most knowledgeable and intellectual professors I have met at Wayne State. You will know and remember the material from any class you take with him. The grading is a bit harsh, only because it doesn't allow you to slack off. Your grade is in your hands. Do the homework, pay attention in the lectures and ask questions and you will pass.
First: This is a class on learning how to program in *assembly language*, by nature, it's a *very* hard class. Hassoun made the concepts easy to grasp, however if you didn't practice outside of class you will at *best* get a C on the weekly quizzes. His grading is firm but fair, he is very knowledgeable, the best professor I've had here so far.
This class IS difficult and requires a lot of effort, but with Hassoun, you will have a solid foundation. He will definitely challenge you on every Exam. Don't expect the exams to be related to the homework and do not try to reference previous exams. It won't work. You simply have to work really hard and know your stuff.
Prof Hassoun is a prof who Actually cares about his students success and wants them to learn. Just be prepared to work hard, and do all the your turns because he will put them on the exam. Don't try to waste time and practice old exams. You will fail. proud to say he's Lebanese. All and all great class with interesting material.
He is very strict and a very hard grader. He is not afraid to fail you if he feels you don't know the material or you are just trying to "get by". To pass his class you have to do everything with full effort; do all hw, study lecture notes, do all ridiculous extra credit, attend all lectures, and ask him about everything you don't understand.
Professor Hassoun is by far one the best professors at Wayne State. He will challenge you on every exam and you will probably end up with a lower grade than you were hoping for but at the end of the day you will know what your doing and since were here for the education thats what matters.
Dr. Hassoun is the hardest Professor in the ECE program, by far. That being said, he is also one of the best. He will challenge you to actually work and learn the material instead of just memorizing it to pass an exam. Material is centered around the math, so make sure you are strong on your fundamentals. It is possible to earn an A, I promise.
By far, Professor Hassoun is the hardest that i ever encountered. you need to study at least 25 hours a week to pass with C. IF you want an A, get ready to dedicate 8 hours a day to study for his class. He knows his stuff, but does not explain it good. get ready to review all the math that you ever took. His Class is hard, so get ready to study !!
Professor Hassoun is the hardest teacher i have every had in my entire college time. you need to know all the lectures, do all hw, do problems from the book. Study at least 40 hours a week in order just to pass that class. He does not mind failing the entire class. Get ready to dedicate your life for his class. do not ask ANY Questions !!!!!!!
FOR LINEAR: Start IMMEADIATLEY after your previous semester ends, during break. GO over circuits 1,2, and all the math you took in your life. BE prepared to study at least 8 hours a day. This is not a joke, STUDY 8 HOURS a DAY. Know MATERIAL, and how to do your turn problems. He is a good man all in all and wants to see you put in maximum EFFORT.
There is no doubt that our university is lucky to have a person with such passion and knowledge for EE. I would suggest taking a semester off and study for his class, this is the best advice you will ever get. He does not simplify his explanations to his students. Unfortunatly, our Intro EE classes do not prepare you for him, so thank the college.
Hardest professor by far, however I ended up learning a lot of material from the course. To be honest, not really from him however. He has a lot of material to cover in his class, and so skips over some, so I ended up never learning anything from lecture and learning it all myself. Now though, I almost completely understand circuits and math.
The best EE Prof. WSU has. I have learned more EE from having a single class with Prof. Hassoun than I have in 5+ classes with easy professors Read the lectures BEFORE class and study them after class. Practice his problems and ask him questions each week outside of class. Participate in class. Do his projects - that is where you learn the most.
This is a tough professor. Homework takes 20 hour or more a week. His exams are hard. He is not clear on what the main point of each chapter is. Some exam questions are topics he did not take time to cover it. If you have him, transfer.
Hassoun is an absolute genius. However, do NOT let his smarts and lecturing skills fool you. His classes require 20 hours/week to barely receive a B- in the class. Although you WILL learn a lot in his classes, it will more than likely put a major dent in your GPA. This is because he is an extremely unfair and hard exam grader. He does offer EC tho.
The material is really hard, and he assigns a lot of work. Lecture is okay, but not great, the best thing you can do for yourself is to do practice problems outside of class. His reputation scares students, but work hard and do the extra credit opportunities and you should pass easily. He will weed out lazy students right away so start strong.
Dr. Hassoun is a difficult professor because he has high expectations of his students. He puts in a lot of time for his courses and expects the same from you. He is honestly a world class professor and (I think I can say this with confidence) the best at Wayne State's Engineering School. Be prepared to work, but you will be a better engineer after.
take circuits in the summer lectures are trash and dude will literally fail you for breathing the wrong direction spare your self the headache
Worst professor I've ever taken. Yeah, you learn a lot in his class. But the exams... I have done all the hw problems and practice exams no problem. The questions on his exams are nowhere near any of those. I work so hard and study hours just to fail these exams. He does not care about students and enjoys making you suffer. Shouldn't be like that.
insanely hard homework, lectures make no sense, exams do not reflect lecture or homework. operates under the "if you're not 2 weeks ahead, your behind" policy. this class will flair anxiety and emotional distress. did I mention the professor is unavoidable? you're literally trapped. switch to ou while you still can.
Professor Hassoun Is very "tough love" He wants you to succeed but he takes cheating very seriously and will embarrass you in front of the whole class. With all that being said if you do your work, show effort and take extra time to review you will be okay and he will see that you are trying and take that into consideration.
Worst professor at WSU. He is well respected because of his knowledge but tests are unfair and nothing like homework. 7 out of 23 people passed last semester. He will embarrass you in front of everyone and seems to love it when a student struggles. He might have the knowledge, but he is somebody that will make your college career miserable.
Requires hard work, but you will learn a lot if you do. For his class I would recommend staying 1 wk ahead of lectures. Do a lot of practice problems (many more than what is assigned). Glance at future lectures to see how current material relates to what you're learning. He's quick to respond to emails, so reach out if you're stuck. Do all E.C!
Test questions, which are a total of 75% of the grade, are nothing like the homework, or any textbook examples.
Worst Professor he Has made our lives miserable, like how can you sleep knowing youre the reason why people drop out of college, I really dropped out after taking his course, everytime I asked for help he made me feel like Im not nothilike we all have lifes people take his course by itself because of how he makes it difficult and end up failing
This professor has a reputation of failing 1/3 of his class sometimes more. You can't avoid him because he is the only one that teaches this class. Best advice, do your homework participate as much as you can in class and make sure you do the exam extra credit well. checking his last semester grades only 2 people got a grade over a c.
Warning: If you are on the edge of failing and you didn't do the HW, he will have 0 mercy, even if you have a 54.5 Attempt every single homework and EC. look at all past exams and join every tutoring session he has. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. let him see you work hard. You might still fail but its your only hope. His class was a never ending nightmare
It's very clear that Professor Hassoun knows what he's talking about, he's really great at what he does and in the way that he teaches. The thing about Hassoun is that he likes to make students work for their grade, he likes to make the exam questions nothing like homework problems or class examples to really make you think and understand concepts.
Taking Hassoun as an ME student was a very tough love situation. He expects his students to have a VERY strong understanding of the material, and this is not a class you can just "mail it in". Homework assignments are more difficult than exams and are a great way to prepare (just very time consuming). If you are EE, Hassoun is a good choice.
Having Prof. Hassoun as a teacher will be as though you are going on a spiritual journey. You will be changed from this man.
Beginning of the semester with him was rocky but saw the true value in how he taught towards end of semester. hw-hard;exams-lighter. ALWAYS do xtra credit given, study material as much as you can. This will be hardest class u will take and it will make u pull ur hair out.u will see the benefits of taking Him in your next years classes if you are EE
Knows his material, and it shows through his lectures. The lectures are interesting. Homework and exams are tough. Rarely will an exam question be something from the homework or practice. Examples in the lectures are often incomplete, left off on a Your turn. Examples also do not cover a wide range of conditions. Partial credit given arbitrarily.
Why do people defend this guy? He's straight up awful. His lectures do not reflect any material on HW or exams. He expects you to go to the ends of the earth to find every possible scenario he could put on the exam for a question. If you're wondering which question will be on the exam, it's the one you didn't study for. Avoid at all cost
Mr. Hassoun is infamous in the electrical engineering department for being the biggest gatekeeper between students and their degree. Do not believe anything he tells you about the applicability of the course material to real life, he has been teaching since my father graduated university and has never had a real engineering job.
This professor is by far the hardest professor in the ECE program. If you have at all struggled in previous classes, this class will be nearly impossible to pass. Dense lectures, overly complex homework, and exams nothing like the study guide. I would recommend taking this course with any other professor for the sake of your GPA and your sanity.
Intentionally makes his class difficult because he thinks he is doing the students a favor by doing so. He himself said this in class.
Definitely a tough love sort of professor, seems to care for students. Can get frustrated easily though
Decent teacher but I wish we had test reviews alongside lecture slides. You have to be kind of autistic with the hw too it's really mindnumbing. For more context every lecture is between 20-40 slides and there's 24 in total. Our class had 1 A, 3 B's , 9 C's, 4 D's, and 1 F. Make of that what you will.
Homework is insanely difficult, nothing like lectures, and every tiny step must be shown. Exams are worse—no matter how much you study, he adds unseen questions. His strict attendance policy docks points for being late, leaving early, or missing class. Extra credit barely helps with failing averages. I wouldn't recommend him at all.
Hassouns class is extremely difficult. I recommend watching all the study sessions, doing all the homework, and reading over all the lectures. If you don't start right away his class will become a very big pain. He ensures his exams are problems you haven't done before or have a twist. Homework's also take around 10-15 hours per week.
The class median got worse overtime from 59 on the first test to 57 to 50 on the third. I'm pretty sure he gives a few students 100 so the class can't request a curve. There's usually a pretty large gap from the 100 to the rest of the histogram data.
The professor is really nice and wants students to actually learn from his class. But, you have to do so much hard work every week: 11 lab reports, 11 pre lab, 10 homework, 3 exams and 1 final. Watch ALL study session videos and review ALL the slides before exams. He offered 3 extra credit opportunities (each 10 points).
Easy teacher. The tests are just like the lectures. Lets you turn homework or assignments in late if you're in a pinch. Test grades can be negotiated.
The main issue with this man is his ego. Going to his lectures is an incredible waste of time as he fails to explain concepts properly for a beginner level circuits class. He wants his students to properly learn the material in order to pass his class, but he doesn't even make the effort to teach it. He goes SO fast and HATES QUESTIONS. DONT TAKE!!
he reminds me of the drum teacher from whiplash
Hassoun is a very caring professor who is very approachable and open to questions. He often brought us doughnuts and pizza. He also invited the whole class to his son's wedding which many of us attended. I highly recommend you take him for as he hands out A's like candy.
Professor Hassoun or "Mr. H" as we like to call him embodies every positive quality a professor should have. His reviews before tests are always so thorough you might as well not show up to lectures. He also doesn't make you watch a pre-recorded lecture every week like the other linear teacher. There's a reason Harvard tried to poach him.
