Amazing professor. He cares a lot about his student's success. He provides sample exams with solutions. The actual exam is similar to the sample exam.
You will be lucky if you can enroll in his class. There were lots of students on the wait list for this semester for Math 3B and so I was lucky that I am in his class. He is a caring and passionate about math. He made me love math.
Great instructor!!
I took his class last fall and he is amazing with his lectures. No quizzes but homework is assigned. Sample exams and solutions are provided. They help a lot for the actual exam we take in class.
Best prof ever!! I wish I can take more classes from him. I wish he teaches Math4A at IVC.
By far the best professor ever!! He details his lecture step by step. Take him if you can.
I don't understand why everybody likes this professor I have nothing against the guy himself but good God he can not teach He assumes we know the subject already And while other teachers try to make you remember the formulas or something in a fun way to help you remember he isn't creative like that at all. Sample exams help a lot. Has thick accent
Prof. Yousef is one of the best professor I have ever had. He lectures with great methods, provides sample exams with solutions, and he is willing to help outside the classroom.
Best Proff. ever, best lecture, easy on homework, you will be lucky if you have a class with him. He is so caring and nice, his class is a fun class. If you want A and learn he is the one, take it!
literally my favorite professor ive ever had TAKE HIM
Greatest math professor I've ever taken. He really cares for his students and has his lecture notes accessible outside of class. He gives sample tests which are really helpful.
Great instructor. He cares about his students and I recommend him. This is the first time I take his class and I can see how passionate he is about math. Take him.
Prof. Youssef is a great instructor. I could see that he has passion for mathematics but sometimes students do not care or listen. I completed all homework assignments and was able to earn an A in the class. He provides a study guide for exams. He encourages students to stop by his office if a student has any questions - unlike other professors.
He has a caring attitude for his students. I love taking classes from him. Take him if you can.
Professor Youssef is an amazing person and teacher. He is extremely smart and is very thoughtful in his teaching. If you go to his office hours and study very well, you will be fine in the class. He is one of the best professors I have ever had, and this is the first math class I have done well in many years. I highly recommend taking him.
I saw good rates from this class but Unfortunately his class is not good at all!!because he is not teaching very clear and If you don't have a good math background you will have a problem, and also his personality is very moody and he makes me nervous and they way that he is acting to his student is very unprofessional. Don't recommend him
Seriously, he knows what hes talking about when it comes to Math. However, hes rude and insults his students when they dont understand something. He doesnt give any study guides for the exams, some questions in the exams were never a part of the lecture or homework. You have attend every lecture, or else hell drop you. So be careful.
Make sure to pay attention during class, he doesn't like explaining something he just taught. Test problems are from textbook examples so make sure to ready chapter in the book. Always show up to class. No extra credit offered. Make sure you do the HW so you get some points. The exams are hard, so study.
He is a great math instructor. He knows what he is talking about. His notes are well organized and can be accessed from home. You still need to study though. I took his Calculus class last semester. He can get a little nervous if you disrespect him - which I understand. He provided us with study guides, collects hw 4 grading, provides instructions.
He cares about his students. Sometimes there are some annoying students in class who try to cheat or talk which bothers him since he wants all to focus. You must attend classes and he will provide the notes to you all online.
I took 3A and 3B from him. He knows what he is doing. Lots of experience teaching Calculus courses. I recommend him.
good techer
Not that bad of a teacher. He can be rude sometimes but he really wants his students to pass. Grade based off of 800 points (100ptshw, 50pts participation, 400pts from 4 exams, 50pts from 5 quizzes, 200 final + 10pts ec if he decides to give ec). Overall, would take again! Makes it doable to get an A.
This is probably the easiest calc class at IVC. Everything is straightforward and he tells you what to focus on for tests. He can be kind of moody but he makes his instructions very clear. Im horrible at math and thought it was going to be impossible to pass so if I could do it, you can too! Just put in the time and effort!!
I would have enjoyed the class more if he wasn't so condescending and rude to the students. His lectures and exams were straightforward. If you do the homework and follow the lecture you will pass. He makes a lot of errors on the syllabus and exams so stay sharp.
If you have to take more math classes, do yourself a favor and take this class with a different professor. He practically gives you the questions to the exams and quizzes. Not only does his give you the questions, but the questions are straight out of the lecture notes. Im taking 3B with a different professor and I feel so lost and unprepared.
He grades homework on completeness and not correctness which is helpful to get full homework points as long as you write something down. He seemed very irritated most days and it showed. He yelled at one Chinese student to get put away his translator after he wrote a word problem on the board. His quizzes and exams were very fair. A if you study
I read some of the postings on this site and took his course in this past summer. Let me comment: he is an instructor who wants his students to pass but there was really many students who tried to cheat on may tests. So, he get annoyed about this until he started to give two different versions of the test to make it fair. I am taking 3B now from hi
honestly my best professor ever... he works very hard to help his students pass.
Great teacher!!
Study his notes and easy A. He provided sample questions to help you for quizzes and exam. He also give quizzes and offer extra credit.
He could be a great professor, however, he spends upwards of 40 minutes ranting about how previous students complained about him, if you accidentally use pen on you homework, and how he hates being asked personal questions, yet he drones on about his life. Very condescending. His teaching is good and clear, when he gets around to teaching.
I am taking 3B from him this semester. He loves teaching and cares about students. He shares some information about past student's experiences so we could learn from.
Study the notes and you will get an A.
He loves teaching. His lectures are easy to follow.
I took a class from him and I know and could see that he loves mathematics and he loves to see his students passing. What bothers me when we had several students in class who were annoying and ruin the class. He likes all students to follow instructions and work. He lectures all questions step-by-step. I would love to take more classes from him.
Teaches ok but beware if you upset him. Also very unclear with homework and test dates.
I took his class a little while ago and do yourself a favor, dont take this professor. He wasnt great at teaching algebra and I didnt really feal prepared for my next math class. Tests were kind of hard but its math so thats expected. Talks too much. Attendance is mandatory and dont be late or else. Pretty stressful experience
I came across this evaluation and I do not agree with some of you. I took his 3B class a year ago. His test dates are stated on the syllabus and he is clear about HW. He cares about his students but he expects you to work hard at the same time. He tries to be fair with all students. I learned a lot from him.
He gave us packet during the first two weeks to review all the Algebra and Trig concepts needed for Calc which helped me a lot. I put a lot of time to those and helped me throughout the semeter. He is helpful during office hours. You can ask him any questions.
I'm beyond surprised by some of the negative comments because this class was very helpful and the professor is a math-master. He knows what he is doing. He provides sample questions for the tests. He also gives out extra credit. His syllabus is very detailed, which I like as it shows all test dates, homework assignment dates, and all other polices
I took his class and I was amazing about how much he likes math. If I ever scored low on a test, this was because I was lazy and didn't study. Some students in class tried to cheat and trick him, but he doesn't like it. If you do not take advantage of his lectures, the book will not be as detailed as his lectures. I highly recommend him.
SO here is the reasoning that this Professor Yells at students for coming in late. Plus THERE are no PRactice exams that make the class harder. HE never gave the us any examples and always says "dont waste my time". CALC 2 is not supossed to tbe that hard, well...
Professor Youseff wants his class to learn and pass, and he shows this through the way hey teaches. He goes in depth during class with the notes step by step, and asks if people are struggling to understand it. In-class notes are provided online as well, and he knows how to make the class not-exhausting with his up-beat personality.
He has a tone with students and doesnt give any study guides for exams. In addition he has zero tolerance for cell phones
Prof. Yousef is a great person. He provided us with study guides for exams and offered extra credit. He provides us with all lecture notes so we can access them from home. He is a nice guy and likes to see his students passing the class. He knows what he is doing. Take him if you can.
I see prof yousseff as a great instructor to learn from. He provides study guides for us and the lecture notes are accessible outside the classroom. I took Math 3a from him in the summer and currently taking math 3B. I enjoy his class.
I took his class for 3A and 3B. He teaches very well with notes are accessible for us outside the classroom. I wish he is teaching 4A. His test are similar to the study guides or the sample tests he passes in class.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. He is open, lectures heavily, and wanted you to learn as much as you could. He is great at teaching . He provided us with extra credit when we asked him. Participation matters in class. He likes to get to know his students well.
Legendary!!
He knows what he is doing. Unlike some other teachers who spend lots of time stocking on one problem. He is able to solve all questions we asked him in class. His tests are moderate.
He spends lots of time teaching. Unlike my other professor who just pass a handout and ask you to do. He provided us with some time to solve the examples in class. He provided lots of examples which was a good practice for us and helped me a lot. I was lucky to get into his class as it was hard to find a spot.
Professor Youssef is an excellent math professor and has helped me overcome my math fear. He encourages students to believe that they can achieve.
Math is not my favorite subject. But this instructors heavily where he shows all details and willing to repeat if needed. He tells us why is something being taught this way and this helped me a lot. He is very knowledgeable instructor. He gives 4 exams, 1 comprehensive final, 5 quizzes, and homework.
Here's the thing: Youssef is brilliant in every aspect in regards to math & cares about teaching you the foundations of what we are learning about, but he is a tough grader. He does not have a set & proper grading criteria, seems to be very spontaneous in the things he says, & lowkey prejudices students. Other than that, he is a great professor.
one of the best math teachers i've had in a while. he really cares about you to do well in the class, he asks repeatedly if anyone is confused and wants you to ask him! he may come out rude and savage at first, but thats because hes highly sarcastic, he doesn't mean any of it and just says stuff to lighten up the class.
All what matters to me: 1. The professor knows his materials and have passion for teaching 2. Cares about his students Prof. Youssef has the above two characters.
You have to put in a lot of effort to receive a good grade in the class. One thing I did like about Youssef is he did not sugar coat anything. He is a tough grade, but he is only like that because he wants you to know the material. He can be a little unorganized and throughout lectures, he goes off topic talking about other things that no one cares
Prof Youssef tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests and quizzes. But you need to prepare well and a lot for them. He is a very nice and lenient grader (gives you lots of extra points). Although his lectures are not very informative and off topic. I prepared at least a week in advance for every exam and studied for hours! Study a lot!!!!
Youssef can be a bit intimidating, however he is pretty fair when it comes to grading. This class was much easier than 3A, however if you are bad at solving integrals you are going to have a tough time. Ask him for a study guide before each test; if you remind him he'll give you practice problems. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS, they are test questions.
He is truly the best math prof at ivc. He gives many examples in class and posts the notes online too. His notes are the best because he explains things in a way that makes it easier for students to understand. He genuinely wants you to do well and tries his best to give you the maximum points possible. I wish I could take every math class with him
I took him because his reviews were so good but in reality, he's teaching wasn't the good at all. He basically talks about himself or things not related to math for most of the class and just put up examples not explaining anything about them. Also, he didn't post notes online. Overall, he was not a good professor and wouldn't recommend him at all.
Prof youssef is a great professor. I took math 3A and 3B from him. He knows what he is doing. He provides us with notes. I agree with all great rates about him on this site. He explains all concepts step by step and provides sample exams which are similar to the actual exams. If you study them, you will easily pass.
I am currently taking math 11 with him. He has been very great to us. He spends lots of time explaining the topics and wants everyone to participate. He gives quizzes and sample questions to prepare you for the exams. His reviews are great for the exams.
Mr. Youssef is a good teacher. He loves what he is doing from teaching to interacting with students. He helped me a lot to pass this course. I highly recommend him. He provides sample exams with their solutions, collects the homework, and a comprehensive final exam.
He is caring. He likes to work with his students. He is friendly and experienced. rlly good at explaining the concepts clearly. His tests are medium.
I took math 3B from him. He lectures very well with details which helped me to understand the materials. Unlike other professors at other places, he knows what he is doing.
He truly cares about his students. He was teaching us about how to study and manage our time. I've never had any professor who ever told us about such things. He also knows what he is doing... provided us with sample exams and solutions which helped us a lot for the actual exams we took.
I am taking his math 11 business calculus course this semester. I can say that I've never seen a professor who cares as much as professor youssef does about his students. He provides sample exams with solutions. Highly recommended.
He is an amazing professor, knows how to teach, cares about his students. Most other professors would rather maintain a "bell curve" but Prof. Youssef tries to help struggling kids to strive for an A. His study guides (which has solutions) are almost identical to the real test. He also gives students life advice and tries to make class fun!
I am currently taking him for business calc and he is an amazing lecturer. He gives short quizzes and great reviews on the day of the quiz so it has been helping us to refresh on the topics before taking the quiz. Sample exams and solutions are also big part of this course that he passed to us. He lectures with great passion...
One of the best if not the best teacher at IVC. He cares so much about math its unbelievable. He teaches everything very thoroughly and will make sure you understand the material. I am very grateful that I took his class. I wish he taught statistics so I could take him again.
I never liked math. But I had to take calculus for my major. When I took math 3A I did very poor. It was mainly the professor. Last fall I took prof. youssef. He is amazing. I earned an A in the class. I took 3B this past semester with him again and earned an A again. He is a great teacher who cares about us and about our grades in class.
Great professor. I enjoyed his class. His tests are easy and he loves to help students. He knows what he is doing . I learned a lot from him.
Professor youssef is a great math teacher. I took math 3b from him and it was easy as long you show to class take notes. He offered extra credit and provided us with sample exams. Those were also very helpful for me. It saved me lots of time.
He is one of my best math teacher I have ever met. He lecture with great enthusiasm . Take him if you can.
I took professor Yousef for math 3A and math 3B. He is an amazing, hardworking professor here at IVC. Take him if you get the chance. He is also the funniest professor I have ever. Definitely passionate about math and will make you fall in love with calculus IF you put in the effort. Complete all homework, study examples from class. Easy Peasy.
Prof. Youssef is nice and very smart. His class was not difficult to get an A in because the sample exams were very similar to the exams themselves; however, he did not explain concepts in lecture nearly as well as my other math professors. If you are taking math beyond 3B like I am, I'd say pick another professor who will make you understand more.
I liked his class. I took his class during the summer and it was fine. It was easy to earn an A in the class. He explains all the details of each step while solving a problem.
He cares about his students. He offers extra credit, sample exams, and homework. His lectures are accessible online. I took math3A and 3b and learned a lot from him.
I am currently taking math 3A with him. I wish he is taking 3B next semester. But he is not. He is a great professor who cares about us. Just attend class and do homework.
Okay, so he's not the worst teacher I've ever had, BUT he is one of the most arrogant. He likes to blame students for "not studying enough" and rambles on about former students who annoyed him. Every other class he tries to ingrain in students' minds that he's better than other teachers at teaching the material. He kind of sucks at lecturing.
I am taking math 10 from him. It is easy A if you go over the sample exams he provides to us. I do not really understand how can students fail his tests. I noticed that students do not study in this class but he keeps trying to motivate them to study. But it seems to me that students do not listen.... Go study... I always summarize the notes..
If you can try to look for another teacher. He seems like a great person but sometimes he can be a headache. Good luck to anyone who is gonna take him
He is a great teacher. He will give you a link to access the notes from home. He takes attendance. So, you should attend the class. He gives 4 exams, a final, quizzes, and homework. He cares about his students more than other teachers I took classes from. I like his class. He knows his materials...
I am going to share my experience. Stat is a class which I noticed that you need to keep following up with and attend classes and do homework to keep up with it. Since I did so I was able to score high on the exams. The profesor provided samples with solutions that helped a lot. Some students were lazy and didn't want to study. He offered x credit.
He is my best teacher ever. He loves teaching and cares a lot about students. This is why I took him. I am getting A in his class. He likes students to not miss classes and do the homework - easy pass.
Worst Teacher ever I should have got a W in that class instead I took an L. Most stubborn and mediocre person. I have had bad teachers and hes the worst. He also said never come late or have your phone in class and he would always be late and on his phone.
He should get a new career if most of his class failing hes doing something wrong but he always be blaming the students
Anyone who signed up for his class I hope you guys drop it. Would not recommend at all. He is very stubborn and gets mad when students correct him. Testing style is not good at all he does free response in a math class. Expects paragraphs. He should be a writing teacher.
Youll never know ur grade in the class . His tests he says are easy but he never even shows and explains what is wrong or how to do them. Bad overall . Would not recommend
So hes... interesting. He gives sample tests and sample quizzes that are exactly like the actual test so thats nice. Just do the work and youll be fine.
Mr. Youssef is a great instructor. He truly does care for his students and he wants everyone to pass. If you ask questions, stay off your phone, and engage in class, you'll be fine. He truly is a great professor if you get to know him. Pay attention, show up! His tests aren't too difficult. I would take him again!
this teacher teaches well and he gve us extra credit when we asked for it. I liked his teaching and sample exams. I found his tests are fair. The final exam was 2 parts: 1st was take home and the 2nd in class. I did well on both.
I just took 3b from him and he is a caring teacher. If you study, you will pass this class and an A is very achievable. He uses the tablet and we can access the notes from home. He hgave us sample exams with solutiosn which helped alot. He also offered xcredit.
He really does everything he can to make sure his students succeed in his class. You're not going to find an easier or more caring stats teacher at IVC than Professor Youssef. He is a very quick grader too. He'll usually have your homework or exams ready by the next class period.
He is good at teaching and his tests are fair. He gave sample exams for some tests which were helpful. Hw is long but helps ur grade if you do them
He is a good professor who provided us with sample exams, quizzes, and other online materials that helped us... I wish he is teaching 3B next semester. He cares about his students.
He is a very caring and inspirational teacher. I already took calculus twice and was feeling really down but Youssef explained the concepts so well that calculus became so easy afterward. He breaks everything down and his online notes are the best I've ever seen. He is very generous with points on tests and he does care about all of his students.
If you want start your day off miserably then take this guy. Not understanding whatsoever and is the biggest hypocrite. Calls kids out for being on the phone when he leaves the class at least once or twice to take phone calls outside. Bottom line is dont waste your time with this guy
His lecture notes are accessible out of class and he teaches really good. I must say he is the best math professor I had so far and I mean it. This man has a good style of teaching and he gives exam revision questions which are similar to the ones on the actual exams
Honestly i can't think of anything to complain about, I took him for 3A & 3B. His class is very straight forward, how a math class should be. He's really clear about what he wants and I never saw a problem I hadn't seen before on a test. His homework covers more than 90% of what's on the test and then the sample test he makes is almost identical.
I am taking him for math124 right now and I really like his style of teaching. It's also super helpful that he uploads ALL the class notes online so you can access them anywhere. He explains things really clearly and with a bit of humor so I never really dread going to class. I hope I can take him for calc because I heard he also teaches that too.
As someone who has struggled with math my whole life, I was hopeful when signing up for this class after reading other people's experience. But he has turned out to be hands down one of the worst math teachers I've ever had. There is no lesson plan and it is extremely obvious that he does not respect his students. Very disappointed.
He is a good teacher. I am currently in his class. He spends most of the time lecturing, the tests are easy to median in difficulty. He loves all students to participate in his class. He takes attendance and clearly cares about students passing his class.
I like his lectures. unlike other teachers he explains all the details behind each problem he covers in class. He gives sample tests which help a lot. He is clearly show he has passion for math and loves to help students pass the class.
I personally liked his class as he teaches really good. He grades the tests so quick and offers extra credit. I have no problems with him. There is homework assigned and collected for points. About 4 exams and a final.
This professor is not a good teacher. He doesnt know how to teach. He doesnt know how to respect people, he think he is the teacher who has all the right. Since all the classes moved to online. He become unreasonable not listen to his student, teach without learning points. He always said that he has to be fair, but all he does is not fair.
I am currently taking math 3a from him. He records videos for us to watch at any time and tests are taken at home and we must upload the to canvas so he can grade them. 4 tests, a final. and homework. Homework helps me a lot.
I have no complains about him. For online I just watch the videos and go online to ask him when I am confused. If you are able to understand the contents in the videos you can solve the exams. He is lienet with grading which is good for me.
This professor inspired me. He doesn't only care about teaching the subject but he also goes beyond that and talks to us about hard work and time management. This shows to me that he is a caring professor who deserves to be ranked one of the best professors ever. He helped me a lot.
He is an amazing teacher. His latest test that he gave us was the easiest ever. He cares a lot about students and their success. He likes students to learn almost everything so they are ready for their future jobs...
I am taking his math 124 class this semester and let me say that I am lucky to have him. This is the second time I take the same class and I see the difference comparing to previous teacher. His test was very easy. I like his lectures - they are easy to understand. I wish he teaches math 2 in the summer.... :(
I took this professor for math 3B. He explains things very clearly and is willing to answer any questions you have. He really wants you to understand the material and will help. Exams are exactly the same as the study guides. He collects HW which helped me a lot to stay on track. I would definitely take him again!
I had took his class last semester and this semester. One thing that I noticed about him is the fact that he cares a lot about his student and he is willing to share experience to his student. Even though it had got him into some trouble some times, lol. But I do appriciate his effort from the transition from a in personal class to online. :)
Professor Youssef is a good person who genuinely cares about student success, however, his arrogance is an astounding character flaw that creates an unfavorable learning environment. He is not compassionate, thoughtful, or respectful, but you can't argue with results. Show up and pass. Do the work and get an A. Just grit and bear his personality.
He is one of the best math professors I have come across at IVC. He cares for his students and their success. The class consists of four tests, which he gives a sample exam prior to. The sample exam is an exact replica to the test, so everyone did pretty well on the tests. Show up, take notes and do the homework and its a VERY easy A
The easiest math class I have taken with Professor. Youssef, the tests are almost exactly the same as the study guide or the review sheet he gives you. Just do the homework and practice all the problems and you will be good to go. He also gives extra credit for the homework problems which is rare. 4 tests and 1 final.
Bring lots of aspirin with you. He tends to go fast during lectures, so be ready to write. HW is almost completely different from notes taken in class. He only gave my class 2 sample exams even though the syllabus clearly stated that every exam would have practice ones, so I thought that wasn't fair.
I had him for math 11 two semesters ago. He is the best profesor I have ever had at ivc. I liked his detailed lectures, sample exams, and the amount of care he showed us. I used his office hours for help. He was helpful during office hours. I took it with another teacher and couldn't pass. but with profesor youssef it was very easy for me to pass.
This teacher is the one who helped me to pass the class. I had to take the class twice before passing it easily with yousef. He geaniunely cares about his students. He gave us 4 exams, a final, and homework. I liked his class... I recommend him. I am finally done with stats.
He can be a bit rude to his students and tends to pick on them. Show up to class, do the homework, do well on the exams and you'll be on his good side. There's 4 exams, a final exam that is multiple choice, and extra credit opportunity. Easy A for a fairly difficult class.
best teacher ive had so far. he really cares about students and will go over any questions you have. he will go over the test review before. I found his class is an easy A as long as you do the home work. notes are accessible from home.
I really enjoyed taking this class with this professor. He makes sure you understand the lecture and answers all questions. He is a blunt person and is very caring. I wish he is teaching precalc during fall....
Prof. Youssef has a passion for what he is doing. He explains the concepts step by step and always asked us if we got it or not. He offered us extra credit which was good for me. His final exam was easy...
While strict, Professor Youssef is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He thoroughly explains the problems step by step, and provides study guides for the exams so you know what to study. I've always struggled with math and had gotten straight C's all throughout hs, but I was able to receive and A in this class.
I have no idea why this prof has such great reviews. I TUTORED calc in high school... so I'm a math person and this is the worst class EVER. He has so many assignments, lectures aren't that great, and the midterm is only available on a weekend. I'll be on a trip but have to take that in the middle of nowhere... don't recommend it.
I like professor's youssef's lectures. He records videos for us and holds several office hours each week. The midterm was fair and he gave us two days to complete it - other teachers give us only 2 hours.
I took the 8 week course, so it was very heavy on the workload but not undoable. Expect at least 4 hours of homework a week and a take-home midterm and a proctored final. Very fair teacher, just be prepared to work a lot for your grade.
It is a 8 weeks summer class, so be prepared to do the works and they are not hard just time consuming. You need to spend around 80 bucks for the online hw. One take home midterm and one proctor final, final is not hard if you study the review notes he gave. 10 points extra credits on the final.
Took his class in the summer. Grade weight was 25% HW, 25% midterm & 50% final (EZ to fail if lazy). He USED TO give 3 days to do the exam. U print it out, answer it, scan it when ure done and upload thru canvas. Caught SEVERAL students cheating bc they uploaded the test on chegg so he made the final proctored via zoom. Chose not to report to dean.
Professor Youssef taught MATH 10 very well. He gave students the option to either attend lectures or watch his recorded lectures. He quickly responds to emails and is ready to help you if you have good intentions. The midterm was very simple and we were given 3 days to complete the assignment. Final was easy as well and there was very easy EC.
He was probably a good teacher in person based on the reviews but he is an absolutely horrible teacher online and he doesnt really seem to care about his students or the class.
Intro to Stats was so much more manageable with him. I had previously taken it 2x before and failed despite studying a decent amount. Most of your points derive from weekly HW due Sun 11:59p, a final & midterm, both closed notes. Take good notes during lecture vids & you'll do fine. Test focused on lectures & some HW questions. No curveballs. 5/5
It was an online class, so there was a mandatory third party testing website, (for an additional $80) that was necessary to complete. I took this as an 8-week summer class, so the pace was fast, and required hours of home study to land an A. Final exam is difficult: on-line, timed, and in full view via Zoom. No notes were allowed. Tough class.
good professor
He cares about students. 4Exams, a final, homework is graded. Tests are open book. He records all his lectures and provides link for lecture notes....I liked his class.
Hes rude. Lectures are pre-recorded. Its less engaging and defeats the purpose of having an instructor. He treats lecture like office hrs (Its not a dedicated time for your course). He goes over math problems super fast and lacks patience. He yelled at a student that was asking him how to do a math problem at one of our review sessions.
Youssef is a good professor. His lectures were always clear and easy to understand, and he had a pretty even grading scale. I think the only thing I didn't like about him was that he's not very willing to help you if you are confused, and he gets upset easily. So as long as you don't make him upset he teaches very well.
Not helpful at all...
Does not care about you or anything that will do with your success in class. He ignore emails, and if he reads them he wont even comprehend what the context of them are. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!!
He cares about students. A midterrm a final and homework. Exams are similar to the sample exams and homework. Ezy A!
I like his lectures. He provides recorded videos which helped me to go back and watch. Tests are fair. There is homework and final exam. Easy A for me.
Professor Youssef is a great teacher that teaches very well. He is always there to answer any questions. There were 3 exams plus 1 final. He offered extra credit which helped me. Ask questions and show up! Study and do the assigned homework!
I really enjoyed taking this class with this professor. He makes sure you understand the lecture and answers all questions. He is a blunt person and is very caring. His lectures are recorded so you can access them at anytime.
TAKE THIS MAN. PLEASE. HE WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE IN MATH. I love this man and will protect him no matter what. He made math look so easy my highschool teachers are shaking in the back.
The professor cares a lot about students. He hold weekly office hours. Exams are similar to homework. 3 exams and final plus homework. He uploaded recorded videos so I can go back to them at anytime. Always answers any questions you have. Would totally recommend again.
He records videos. Full Online Mode. Materials are hard. Office hours are super helpful, he explain everything to you clearly in office hours. He is funny if you attend office hour you would know. Exams are not very hard. Be sure to do HW, that helps. If you study and do work. A is easy.
I took his online class and enjoyed his detailed lectures. He helps a lot during office hours. Just do homework as the exams are similar to hw problems. He offered extra credit toward the end of the semester. Tests are not proctored and gives you all day to complete.
Professor Youssef cares about his students which I noticed during office hours. His lectures ae very clear and easy to understand. He gave us a midterm, homework, a final and extra credit. Do hw and easy A.
I took his 8 weeks summer class. All I have to do is do the homework and pass. There's a midterm and a final exam, and I found a lot of TYPOS on the exam. The homework and exams are pretty easy. I never talk or need help in his class. EASY A.
I took math 26 from him last semester and it was easier than expected. Homework, easy projects, midterm, and a final. He provides sample exams which helped a lot.
I am currently taking this course with him and I say he is the BEST profesor ever at IVC. He assigns homework from the book which is heling for exams. He explains the concepts clearly and I am able to apply them to my homework.. Take him.
Took him for MATH2 and MATH 3A. Easy A if you complete the homework on time. His lectures are easy to understand and he gives comprehensive study guides, so really no excuse not to pass his exams.
Lecture videos are easy to follow and for the most part free from mistakes. Expectations for exams were clear, there should be no surprises if you use the study guide, proctorio is not used. Very reasonable amount of HW, very generous grading of the HW. Communication, especially around exams could be better, but all in all he's a great professor.
Don't know if it's bc of the online environment, but he doesn't seem to care about the course at all. Email replies are late, study guides were just listing out the things we've learned, syllabus was outdated, and uploaded lectures really late. There was a test question on the mid-term that was in the LATER CHAPTERS. Take prof. Gupta if you can.
You have to study by yourself to pass the class. Take him for an Easy A.
Best math professor at IVC. Tests are straightforward. Post your work when you take a test. There is an extra credit opportunity near the end of the semester.
Professor Youssef was a joy to work with. Does not accept late assignments under any circumstances and online lecture videos were somewhat helpful but overall easy exams that don't require the use of Proctorio. 4 (Or I can't remember if it was 5) Homework assignments and only 1 midterm and 1 final. I highly recommend!
Absolute mess with the textbooks. He told us to get the 12th edition, but since his instructions were so unclear and gave the IVC bookstore the wrong code, he just ended up using the 11th version (I personally went to IVC and got the 12th ed btw). Now, midterms are coming up and I may have to relearn a bunch of stuff. Straightforward w/ lectures
This class was an extremely easy A but I would get pretty frustrated with his accent. Tests were extremely easy and similar to his study guide and homework was also very easy. Beware though, do not push homework 1,2, and 3 to the end. Youll will have so much homework if you do, you'll spend 2 full days trying to complete it on time.
Same experience as another rating, mess with textbooks, etc. However, super communicable and really simple lectures. Content is relatively easy, don't be fooled by the "calculus" in its description. Only a midterm and a final worth 75% of your grade so be sure to study before the test. Would take him again, but wait to rent the textbook.
Be ready to do 20+ pages of homework every 3 weeks or so. If you're smart, you'll pace your homework reasonably throughout those 3 weeks. If you aren't you'll spend your entire Sunday doing 8+ hours worth of HW. 5 HW assignments total (100 pts), 1 Midterm (100 pts) 1 Final (200 pts) 1 EC (10 pts) = 400 pts. 360 is A. No tests. All HW from textbook
This class was pretty much a self-taught class with wide gaps between deadlines. Requirements were straightforward: 5 homework assignments, 3 projects using a program called Maple, a midterm and a final. Homework and projects were graded based on completion and not really correctness so you've to make sure you know what's happening.
Lectures aren't terrible and the homework load is fair in my opinion, if you're someone who excels at self-studying, you'll love this class. 2 exams + 5 homework assignments, and the homework is graded by completion and not correctness. Small workload overall, just make sure you know what's happening and are ready for the exams
He is a great professor who I found out that he cares a lot about his student's success. Very nice guy... He gives a midterm, a final, homework, and extra credit. If you understand the homework problems, then easy A.
He is awesome. He loves what he is doing and cares alot about students. Easy A for me....I wish he is taking math 3b. ...
This professor cares about us and our success. He uses Canvas a lot to communicate with us which was very helpful. 5 hw assignments and he provides solutions after the deadline for each assignment. He gave a midterm and a final, with extra credit opportunities. I liked his class, overall.
He is by far the best professor at IVC for math. I took math 2 and math 3A from him and I can say he is easy to understand. His lectures are very detailed with easy accessibility for the notes. Do the homework and easy A...Very nice and helpful guy..
There are 1 midterm, 1 final and those stands 3/4 of the grade. The rest is HW. You will give you sample exam to do. Sample exam will be an extra credit. Be aware, late HW is not acceptable at all. It's doesn't matter any reason you have. So, don't do HW until the last day or last minutes to do. It's impossible to done HW. Trust me
Took this class during the summer online. The lectures that were posted only showed us how to do the homework. When I emailed the professor about issues I had with the canvas shell, he took days to respond. Did not resolve any of my issues. His grade was mainly based on in-person tests, but he didn't even attend the in-person test.
He is very motivated professor who cares about his students. He offers extra credit, midterm, final, and homework. Exam problems are easier than homework problems. So if you can do the homework you can do the exam....He provided us with all his lecture notes and videos and he lectures in class.
Youssef is one of the best math professors I have ever had. He explains the concepts well and provides plenty of study resources before the midterm and final. Detailed lecture notes are available online, and he gives two extra credit assignments. He does take attendance, but I didn't receive any penalties for missing a few classes.
I'm not great at math but I still got a good grade, he goes into detail during lecture and is more than happy to answer questions. I suggest doing practice questions outside of class because he goes over only a couple of practice questions during lecture. Grade is based on midterm, final, homework and extra credit but he grades pretty fair.
Actually I am very bad at math, but prof. Youssef did an amazing lectures at all! My midterm exam was horrible, be his final was extremely easy. He did also gives some extra credit. If you really want to get A, I strongly recommend that you have to do very well on HW to get full credit. If you don't, you'll regret.
Prof. Youssef is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. He cares so much about us, and wants to see all of us succeed. His curriculum is not bad. 1 midterm, 1 final, and 5 long homework assignments. He'll also give 2 extra credit opportunities. If I were you, I would do all the extra credits because it helped me maintain an A.
Never did I think I would get an A in a math class, but Prof. Youssef is the man. He's super nice and really good with lectures. My midterm grade was pretty basic, but his final was easy. There is a midterm, final, and 5 long HW assignments. Want to get A, do the HW, and put effort into the hw, if you can do the hw, the tests should be simple.
Extremely unorganized with assignments and always breaks promises. He always whines about the file size for hw submitted on canvas if it's larger than 5 MB he won't grade it. He also spends half of the class giving life lectures about time management and studying over the weekend rather than actually teaching, or playing youtube videos.
Professor Youssef is one of the most challenging professors I've ever had. He is brilliant and does teach well, but the way he teaches is quite advanced, so some of them made me hard to understand. He gives quite a lot of homework assignments, one midterm and one final. I had to work my back off to obtain an A, but I enjoyed this class :)
Professor Youssef provides sample exams and the exams are very similar to the sample exams, if you know how to do all the work on the sample exams, you will score perfectly.
Grade 25% homework graded on completion, 25% midterm, and 50% final. Gives a study guide week before the test that's literally what's on the test. Make sure you know how to do everything on the study guide (the way he wants you to do it) and you'll do fine. Extra credit is about 20 points.
I found Youssef to be a very caring professor. He posts videos of every section on canvas which is super helpful. Does not accept late homework ever so be sure to get it in on time. Personally, I found the course material (differential equations) to be really hard so definitely don't neglect the class or think you'll do well without studying.
great professor who cares a lot about his students. He explains everything in details. There is a midterm and a final. There is also homework assigned. The work is worth enough points so you can complete it. His exams are easy. He provided extra credit and sample exams.
This instructor is exceptional. He delivers his lectures with remarkable clarity and encourages student engagement. His study guide is essential, which makes it much easier. Consistent attendance is crucial as he keeps track of attendance. He gives homework, midterm, and a final exam. He offers extra credit. Funny guy and cares a lot about students
he is the best math teacher i ever had.
He's a great teacher! His classes are straightforward, he teaches very well, and he is clear on the homework. There will be one midterm and one final exam, both of which are very similar to the sample paper that he gives (if you can do the sample paper, you should be able to get 100% on the test). He gives extra credit too. Make sure to write neat!
All it takes is just doing the homework as soon as possible, I didn't really do much review. I also kinda suck at math. Just a midterm, final, hw, and one 10pt ec. Do the hw and ec it will help a lot. Hw is a lot harder than the exams just do his practice exams and master them, you will get an A.
He neglected us for the entire semester. He ignores emails. Did not provide study guides. We had to track him down on campus to even give us a review. He was late to the review session, would disappear for 5 minutes at a time, hardly went over what we needed, and left early. Most of the class failed. He's super lazy and unhelpful. Do not recommend.
This professor is very easygoing if you listen to him and care about the course. I would recommend him for sure!
He seems to care about his students, but lectures are pre-written and he just scrolls for two hours. It's all theorems/definitions, so don't expect to be able to apply anything you "learn." The two tests are straightforward and graded leniently. You'll get an A at the cost of your sanity; take someone else if you want to learn linear algebra.
Most of his old positive ratings had the same string of grammatical/mannerisms that Professor Youssef would have in his canvas announcements/emails. Be aware that he might be writing his own reviews. Prof was generally lazy with his lectures and off-topic. Learned nothing, but half of my class did get an A, so if that's enough for you go for it.
Extremely easy course. Didn't really learn much. Homework is somewhat long and due every couple of weeks. Prof is very nice and always encourages classroom participation. Exams(one midterm and one final) are not difficult at all, but still come prepared as they are heavily weighted in the grade. Come to class, do the HW, and study a bit = easy A.
Great professor and great course. One midterm, final, 5 hw assignments and extra credit. He's an interesting and eccentric guy, but teaches well and is very knowledgable. He likes to pick on students for fun, so keep that in mind. However, he made me enjoy math, and I enjoyed my time in his class.
Prof Youssef is the best! His class only has 1 midterm and final + 5 homework assignments. He also gives a 10 point extra credit assignment, which is essentially the sample exam to the final + provides a sample exam for the midterm, which are very similar to the actual, so make sure you do them. Literally everyone in my class got an A. Take him!
this profesor cares about his students a lot. His exams are not difficult and lectures with passion.
Professor youssef is amazing! He really cares about his students and makes the class feel supportive. He even offers extra credit, which helped me improve my grade. His teaching is engaging, and I found the class challenging, as I haven't taken math for 2 years, yet manageable. Getting an easy A was a bonus. I highly recommend him!
Prof. Mohamad is an amazing math teacher! He's really nice and cares about his students. The course was difficult for me. but I could see that he loves math and explains hard things in an easy way. He helps a lot with extra work, has many office hours, and review sessions. He wants us to do well and succeed in math.
25% - HW 25% - Midterm 50% - Final He lectures every class and goes through previous notes. Has PhD in Math. He gives extra credit if he likes the class. If you are a good test taker I recommend it. There is no way you can slack off in this class if you arent someone who can just watch lectures and understand the concept.
Careful! most these 5 stars are the professor writing them himself
You must be on time in his class, or he WILL drop you out. He is super strict with attendance, and I don't even know if he checks his emails. His exams are pretty easy, while the only things being graded are the homework (worth 20 points each), midterm, and final. Also, he talks a lot about unnecessary stuff during class.
He's writing most of these reviews. His class is easy. The exams are exactly like the sample exams, the values are swapped. The professor himself is VERY haughty. Doesn't check emails, but he reads them & clowns them to the class. Gives 10-15 points EC, rants ALOT. He cares, but in the type of way an immigrant parent loves their kid. Tough Love.
Great prof, easy class if you pay attention. Exams are like the sample he gives. He give off-topic lectures but is entertaining. He gives extra credit. His class lectures are great and he posts everything on canvas in case you miss class or want to work ahead. Like someone else said, loves his students the way an immigrant parent love their kids
Prof Youseff is the best! Just do some of the homework everyday, master the exams, show up to class and an A is super attainable. He seemingly wants everyone to do well. The final exam is easier than the midterm, (it was multiple choice) TAKE HIM!
Honestly loved this class so much, yes sometimes he gets side tracked on topics but he makes everything so understandable. He cares about your success and understanding of this class. Homework is 25%, midterm is 25% meaning your final is 50%. But he gives sample final and midterm which are exactly like the exam literally.
Dont procrasinate HW (or just copy your friends'). Hw is 25%, Midterm is 25%, final is 50%. Just know how to do practice before exams he gives you (important), you really just need to know HOW to do the problems. If you want to actually understand linalg, take a diff class. his lectures arent good. If you want an easy A, this is the class for you.
Difficulty wise, Prof Youssef's class is a no-brainer. What bugs me more but doesn't get talked about alot is his snotty attitude in class, but he's chill one on one. Never get on his bad side. Midterm and finals are easy as long as you review the sample exam. Exact same, just different values. Put minimal effort into this class, can still get an A
He scrolled through old notes during lecture and didn't explain concepts/questions that well; goes off topic often. Gives a lot of partial credit on assessments. Doesn't respond to emails. Easy A, but don't take if you need this class as a foundation for future classes.
Really has a thing for middle eastern students. LOTS of homework but as long as you use the study guides for the tests, you're good.
Unnecessarily strict, throws tantrum over nothing. His class is always extremely stressful because he just kicks out anyone whenever he feels like it. Rude towards you if you try to ask for help. Is cold towards everyone except for the pretty girls.
Great professor, but could come off as rude to some people that don't understand his humor.
avoid this professor at all times don't listen to anyone that says he is good. he has favoritism, is very rude, and always yells for no reason. if you need to actually learn choose a better (approachable) professor. he doesn't care about any of your concerns and will show you that. he never responds to emails and always belittles everyone.
Do not believe in this professors positive reviews. He is not a good professor for 3B, he does not expand on any fundamental concepts for his students to build a stronger foundation in calculus. His lectures consist of pre written notes on the projector which he speed runs through. Unless you have to the time to self teach do not take his class.
Most of the good reviews are of his own writing. He is not a good teacher at all, he just quickly goes over prewritten notes from previous years and expects you to get it right away. He does not take questions openly and is not that helpful during office hours. Just a mean spirited person who has too much pride.
Guys. His good reviews are FAKE!! We do 9 sections of homework every 2 weeks. Found myself doing Hw more than studying. Each section took 1.5hour just for his class He's lazy when it comes to actually teaching and showing students how to do the concepts. HE IS HORRENDOUS PLEASE FOR YOUR SAKE DO NOT TAKE HIM. Or do if u wanna learn the hard way idk
TROUBLE MAKER
Although Youssef was a bit off the rails this semester, I honestly think he is just going through something difficult in his life. Yeah, he made the midterm super hard but he gave everyone the opportunity to do extra credit to raise their grade. I scored 56% and with the ec, my grade went up to 70%. Much more generous than other math profs at IVC
Moderately easy A if you review his videos and lectures. Don't get on his bad side otherwise it'll be over. If you're an attractive young femalethat's bonus in this class, it'll be easier. Do the homework. Everytime time he walk's near me my desk, I am trembling. Dr yousef is peak alpha male, but has some anger issues hidden somewhere.
Prof Youssef used to be cool but he absolutely lost it this semester, specifically for his 3B class. I don't know if he's going through something or what, but he completely changed his tune this year and refused to give us prep material for the midterm, so everyone failed. He's so mean to students and is unapproachable. Pick someone else for 3b!!!
In short this teacher is one of the most unnecessarily strict and aggressive professors I've had. Reviews on here are getting taken down and the ones that are positive are genuinely hard to believe. If you care about your grade and self esteem don't take this professor.
Do not take him. He used to be a good and fun teacher last year. Now is totally disrespectful to everyone, and got very lazy. No sample study guide was give like previous years. He yells at students and belittles them for the smallest thing. Has a high ego. Has no remorse. Only friendly to a couple of the students. He's smart, but throws tempers.
If you do not get an A in this class from him, take some time to re-evaluate your goals. You can fail the midterm and get an A. 100 points hw, 20 points per assignment, takes 5-6 hours to finish. 100 points for midterm, almost identical to midterm sample. EDIT: HE CHANGED AND HE IS NOT LIKE THIS ANYMORE! HAD HIM 3B AND HE WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT
He used to be good but this semester was very difficult, his class average was below 50%, but he does give extra credit. He can make you a little uncomfortable through his behavior. He has favorites and its obvious and its always girls ngl. Exams are very difficult and study guide is not helpful. I would recommend taking another prof if you can.
Professor Youssef used to be my favorite professor. I had him for Calc 3A a semester ago and he loved teaching his students. He gave out sample tests identical to the main tests and didn't want anyone to fail. Over a semester, something gave in and he's is not the same teacher anymore. Harder midterm with no sample, harsh grader. Don't Take
gave no prep material for exams, threatened and kicked out students, yelled at classes and complained about them to other classes, and made consistent uncomfortable passes at girls. take this prof if you are actually tryna ruin ur gpa. the amount of anxiety i got every time i walked into class is unmatched never taking this guy again.
He was chill when I took him for 3A in Fall 2023. But yeah, it was good then, and 3B now is interesting, to say the least. Material-wise, bro is fine.
He was chill in 3A; I genuinely don't know what happened this semester. He did act a bit harsh, but that's because of the class, so it's hella understandable. Other than that, he's good but his mood's been all over the place. Make of that what you will.
The first two weeks were fun; the professor connected with students and taught well. Then, everything changed. He just scrolled through notes, kicked students out, banned metal water bottles, and yelled about phones. The midterm was a class average of 40/100 with not curve. Though he improved in the last week, it was too late. Do not take him.
initially good, BUT 2nd week in his mental health blew up then took it out on us. EXTREMELY bad mood since then unwilling to help students/answer questions, posts lectures at 9pm the night before class(24+ hrs late), then he's angry only 15 people saw it. 50% midterm avg so he labeled entire class as lazy&dumb. worst test grade I've EVER recieved.
This is the best math teacher in IVC by far. Just take him all in person and DON'T do the hybrid class The final was super easy, and the concepts he tested were not nitpicky. His midterms are always harder than finals. he does get the laziest group of students so ignore the bad comments. Take yousef!
His in-person lectures are pretty boring to be completely honest and I spend most of my time trying not to fall asleep. Attendance was mandatory because he will kick you out of the class after three absences and 6 tardies. He is strict but he reuses test material and his midterm was just like the practice midterm he posted. Final was very difficult
This is the worst professor I have ever seen, he just talks about his notes every time he attends class, and his handwriting is very poor hard to know what he wrote. The only good thing is you are more likely to score high in the test. Therefore, you can take it if you are good at self-study.
Do not believe the haters professor Youssef is the goat. Took him for MATH3a and 3B and you WILL get an A if you do the homework and pay attention to lecture. Midterm and final are moderate at best but even so he grades fairly lightly on final exam. Does tend to rant sometimes but he's still the goat.
Had him for CALC3A in Fall 2023, he was really passionate and taught well w/ engaging lectures. This semester in CALC3B, he was really inconsistent with posting lecture recordings for his hybrid class. Difficult midterm, but very easy MC final. If you do the hw & extra credit, you can get a moderately easy B at least. Not as hard as ppl here say.
Do not take this teacher. He didn't give a study guide for the midterm as punishment for the whole class for "talking too much" and most of my class failed. He kicked out a person for taking a picture of the board and went on a 1 hr rant about how we were lazy. He is not very helpful and quite rude when you ask questions. I had to drop his class.
There will be five homework, one midterm and one final exam. The final exam would be MC. Just do your homework and understand each question. You will be fine. He also provides some extra credit that you can take. It's not that hard I swear.
SO much homework. I get the practice mentality but when it is so far from an exam, there is no incentive to do it. Does not answer questions well, breezes through the lecture, not engaging. Nit picky about attendance but gives extra credit. Exams are identical to his practice, just the values are switched. Work hard for the A.
Put in the work, get a good grade. Extra credit offered, homework fair, study guides mirror the fairly easy tests. The 1 negative is his moody/weird character. He'd lash out at ppl asking questions, discouraging participation, but then he'd complain abt lack of participation, and the only ppl he seemed to like were women. Jokes sometimes funny tho
If you are trying to learn Calculus II don't take him he won't challenge you enough. If you are taking the course and have no interest in math take him. He doesn't teach and mostly puts up his notes. However, his midterm and final are easy, too easy. Bad comments are from people who don't try and expect him to give them an A. I got around 105%.
Overall - a lot of HW, the midterm was decently hard, 25 points EC, and the final was a breeze. Super doable as long as you keep up with the material and practice. The amount of EC was extremely generous and seriously helped. Honestly, a pretty easy course for the most part.
His lectures are all posted online but requires you to show up to class for attendance as he just reads off the board. There are 2 exams that makes up 75% of your grade with the midterm average in the 50s. Beware he does not respect/inconsiderate your questions & only likes girls. He does not round your grade even if you are 1 point away. Avoid!
Giving him a 5 only bc I got an A in both his precalc and calc 1 class. Stuff you hear abt his attitude is very true. But for precalc and calc 1, exams were identical to study guide, thats why I got As in his class. His teaching style is mid, I had to put in a lot of effort outside of class. Wont be taking him for calc 2, but overall happy w my As
WORST PROFESSOR OF MY LIFE. For those who are looking at this PLEASE reconsider choosing this class as he was very unprofessional and disrespectful even though he was giving everyone and other classes lectures about how to be professional which literally wastes time.
He honestly has a good heart even though he is obviously not himself. I would say if you want an A just take him because he will usually give it to you for FREE if you just do the HW and do the practice exams which are just exact copies from the actual test. Again, he is really really nice but a bit standoffish right now for some weird reason.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! The class itself was not the hardest. 50% of the grade is the final, 25% midterm, 25% homework. He's so bitter and aggressive for no apparent reason. Overall negative and draining person to be around. Makes fun of his students, has a superiority complex, and is just rude.
He just gives you formulas and then have you apply them to problems; gives you samples before the exams. If you have a great memory, you'll definitely get an A, but what have you really learned? If you just want to coast through and graduate with As, this place is for you. But if you want to gain true knowledge, AVOID.
grade was HW, midterm, and final final was extremely easy and as long as you put effort into HW before the deadline and attend every class, an A shouldn't be too hard also offered extra credit
Out of all the professors I have had, he is definitely one of the worst. Very rude to students and has fluctuating behavior depending on his mood. Made Calc 3B very unenjoyable. Only two exams that will be the deciding factor of your grade. Only good thing about this class was the extra credit, but everything else was really bad. Please don't take.
This professor is a straight up bully. He does not care about care about any of his students. He made the midterm extremely difficult without any study guide or review material. Please do not take him. Beware he is writing his own reviews.
Professor Youseff gives a lot of homework. He assigns two tests: a midterm and a final. His lectures are mostly understandable, and they are recorded and posted on Canvas. There are lots of extra credit opportunities provided. I would take this professor again.
Took this after his 3A class. Lectures are recorded and posted on Canvas. Midterm was tough because the study questions were different from the test. He prepared us much better for the final. I would take this course again in person instead of hybrid. Beware of review bombing by students unhappy with their midterm scores who colluded on Discord.
I took him for 3B and I can say he is a professional professor who cares for the students. Some students were lazy but he offered extra credit to help us. He explains complex concepts in a way that it was easy to understand and creates an engaging place. One midterm, a final, and HW. Easy to get an A in the class.
This teacher is the best at IVC. He explains all the details possible to help you understand the materials. He likes you to be professional, which I felt it was good. For the exams, he handed out study guides that were basically identical to the exams -midterm and final + homework. I recommend taking him.
I enjoyed taking his class. There was a midterm, a final and 5 homework assignments. He also offered extra credit, which helped me a lot. I wish he is taking Math 4 A.
He cares alot about students. Very strict about attendance. Lectures very clear with notes available online. It's math, so it's not going to be very interesting if you're not already into math. He can be a funny guy sometimes. Oh, and he gives extra extra which is helpful.
A very unfair professor. If you're a math major, his class is of no help, and you have to spend a lot of extra time supplementing your theoretical knowledge. Some of his problem-solving approaches feel wrong to me, but because he speaks very meanly, I don't bother arguing with him. He doesn't respect students' rights. Not recommended for math major
While the professor sometimes rants, the class isn't very hard. HW is graded for completion and 25% of the grade and prepares you for the test, he gives lots of extra credit and half credit for work/wrong answers on the test, so as long as you attend every class and do the HW, you will get an A.
I took his summer course. It was very easy. Attend class and complete the homework and you should be fine.
I took this professor in the Fall 2024 and he was just the worst professor I have had since my experience at IVC. I felt like I couldn't understand anything about calculus in his class. I did not take Pre-Calc since highschool but I can say that he did not prepare me at all to take his course and regain my knowledge with Calculus. I do not recomend
I love this professor. I took math3A during this past summer and I could see how caring to us he was. There was a midterm and a final with some hw. He lectures step by step and reviews for both the midterm and final which were very helpful.
Awful professor. Has strict guidelines for how to turn in HW, does not thoroughly answer your questions, goes on personal lectures during class, dismisses class mid lecture and tells us to go through the online lecture instead, etc. He is a horrible professor. DO NOT TAKE.
Good class. It's math, so it's not going to be very interesting if you're not already into math. I took math 3a in the summer and I assure you that he spent the first week reviewing precalculus for us which was very helpful. He is a good teacher. He went over any question. He motivated me to work hard. I could tell that he was there for us.
Professor Mohamad is strict but fair. Lectures are clear, and extra credit opportunities help. The content can be challenging, but using resources like unstuckstudy ai alongside the textbook makes studying more manageable. Overall, a solid math class if you're willing to put in the work.
WE CAN MOVE ON 🗣️🗣️🗣️
He had strict attendance; 3 absences he kicks you out and 2 tardies make up 1 absence. No late extensions on anything. He constantly made announcements on Canvas saying that we had to "prioritize our education" over a part time/full time job. He doesn't curve on anything. You also can't see your grade on Canvas. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
He is a caring instructor. I like the canvas shell where he includes all information I needed. He explains concepts very well and I can access the lecture notes and recorded videos which are always helpful for me. No late assignmnets as stated on his syllabus.
Bro is a cool dude. Took 26 and 3A with him. Go to lectures and do the homework problems and you'll be fine.
He's one of the best professors at IVC. His lectures are very clear and understandable. His weekly quizzes are very helpful, and questions straight from the homework. Homework prepares for the exam. Take the class serious and respect his time and knowledge. He doesn't like excuses prepare ahead of time for everything.
Most of his lectures are difficult to understand. He is a caring person who would like to see everyone pass the class. He takes the time at the end of each class to give us advice on how to succeed in calculus and in life. The quizzes are straight from the homework. The exams usually resemble the study guide. Overall, a decent professor.
Sweet and caring guy that is really good at what he does which is teaching math. the ONLY issue I have is the attendance policy which has traumatized me to my core and makes me wake up in a cold sweat that I might've missed the class
Avoid if you can, one of the worst professors ever. Don't take him even if he's your last option, if you really really need to take this course, just take it next semester, DO NOT TAKE HIM, he's so bad at explaining that it's funny at this point, does not explain at all and is a tough grader. DO NOT TAKE
I got a C in Calc 1, I was scared of taking the class as I had very little to none knowledge about Calc 2. However, his teaching style I found very straightforward and enjoyable. He has lecture videos where you can go back and forth to understand topics. He's a caring professor and I really enjoyed him this semester. Make sure to do the HW.
Professor Youssef is a very tough when it comes to his lectures. When he is in a good mood his lectures are very good and he can be pretty funny. But get to his bad side and the class won't be very great. Sometimes he will side track and go on personal stories and it can disrupt learning of the actual subject. A lot of homework, but decent exams.
Lecture consisted of him putting up old notes for us to copy.. very moody and would crash out often. HW heavy, graded on completion. Quizzes every Tuesday with 2 problems taken from that week's HW. Easier midterm based off study guide, final completely unlike study guide. Biased.. Scored students differently even if they had same answer/process.
I never liked calc in high school, but prof's youssef lectures were amazing to me. He has also lecture notes and recored videos to use. Make sure to do the homework as his exams are similar to the homework problems. if you can do the homework problems, you can easily get an A in the class.
Youssef is an outstanding professor and is very friendly, funny, and approachable. He wants his students to succeed and will make sure that everyone is on the same page. I normally fear math and am out of practice but did not feel behind in his class at all. Show up, do the homework, put in your best effort, and you should be able to do well.
I took 3 courses from him and loved his way of teaching. I wish he taught calc 3 this semester so I could take it from him as well. Do your homework and you should easily earn an A in his courses.
This professor is my best math teacher ever. I never liked math in high school. But after started to attend his lectures, I can see that he has passion for teaching and cares a lot about us.
Very entertaining lectures and lots of extra credit. Hard not to get an A if you turn everything in. Homework, midterm, and final exams. Attendance is important for him.
Although I got a B in the course, his lectures were amazing. There was homework assigned and midterm with final exam. You can access his notes online which I liked so I can go back to review them if I miss a class. Class discussions occur daily and he's very involved and funny. If you complete your homework, you should get an A easily.
I took my last calc class with prof. Yousef. I can say that I was lucky that I did so as he made the material very easy and offered extra credit. Very caring for his students , as I noticed. Nothing negative for me to report against him.
Mohammed is a great professor. I took math 24 and 26 from him. He is so caring for his students, offers extra credit, and he does his best to help all. I enjoyed taking the two courses from him and learned a lot. He goes beyond math teaching and helps student to guide them for other things with their education. I recommend him.
this instructor is super chill and really cares about his students. He makes sure everyone is paying attention and actually learning instead of just sitting in class. He is strict with his attendance policy but I didn't care since I never miss classes. His lectures are really easy to follow, and he explains things in a way that makes sense.
The class really isn't that difficult, there are only 2 exams and a quiz every week, the exams are the exact same as the practice test. The professor himself does want to help you, he's not welcoming to questions and is not friendly. His lectures are solid though and the class is overall alright
Professor Yousef explains difficult math topics clearly which helped me a lot to understand the math topics. He's patient, supportive, and always makes sure students understand the material. His class really boosted my confidence in math.
The best instructor i've ever had. Math is not my favorite, but he made the materials so easy to understand.
I took two math courses from him. His classes were super smooth and easy to understand.A midterm and a final with some weekly quizzes. The professor is very communicative, easy-going, and ready to help at all times. Professor offers a great study guide for every exam making you feel prepared. I was not a math student, but he is awesom.
Is an amazing teacher. He cares about all his students a lot and wants everyone to pass.
The professor offers great lectures and study guide for exams. I took him for Math 3B and it was easy A for me as long as you complete the homework. I was not a math student, but he is awesome. Could not recommend any other professor for such a class.
I took his PreCalculus online asynchronous course and it was really easy. He assigns the homework every 2 weeks and has his lectures recorded on youtube. everything was online except for the final exam.
Loved everything about math 3A. He is really an amazing professor, breaks down complex math topics that we tough for me in high school into manageable pieces to understand for me. He is very passionate about teaching. He wants everyone to pass.
he's one of the better professors to take at IVC because his class has structure and it's easy to get a good grade in his class
Very entertaining teacher!!!!!
Professor Youssef was one of the best professors I had while at IVC. He always comes to class with a smile on his face and makes sure everyone is happy and entertained while he gives his lectures. I always did well on his exams, and he is very nice about grading.
Be careful, Prof. Y carefully curates his reviews on this site. I took his class yrs ago and got an email my rating, which was actually quite non-biased and to the point, got removed, so now y'all get this shell of a review. Either way, don't take him!
I took the online pre calculus with professor youssef. Tbh the class was light cuz it consisted of 8 HW, online midterm, writing assignment, and an in person final. Plz don't overthink the final and midterm cuz the study guide he provides is 95% similar to it. There is a final review video which covers everything you need for the actual final.
He is a funny professor who cares about his students and values mutual respect. He expects phones away and punctuality, but he is kind and fair. The class was challenging, and grades were shared at the end, but he offers helpful office hours. I would take him again if you put in the effort and ask for help when needed.
Wastes a lot of in class time. Not very accommodating. He's nice enough generally, but when it comes down to it he makes it clear he's not on your side.
I took Multivariable with him last semester and he was honestly great. He made the class enjoyable and explained things really well. If you keep up with the homework, it's an easy A. He lectures a lot but always gives notes, which helps a ton. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed.
BEWARE! When I first took the class I checked Rate My Professor and laughed at comments saying he wrote his own reviews but now I believe it He makes you handwrite notes submit homework in one specific file or it's not accepted, writes extremely fast without caring if you keep up, makes you calculate your own GPA, and is never available after class
