Very difficult to understand his lectures.
I can't stand this guy. He is so hard to understand and is unbearably boring. So far the homework assignments haven't been too hard, but he does a terrible job teaching in class. In class I'll think everything is going fine and is easy, and then when I get back and do homework it's much more difficult than what we did in class.
He was the worst math teacher I have ever had. His lectures were awful and you couldn't understand a thing he said. Your entire grade (80%) is tests and the final exam. Everything that I did well on such as homework and quizzes didn't count towards the final grade. Avoid taking his class at all costs!
He is literally one of the most infuriating instructors I have ever had to deal with. On top of being incredibly hard to understand, he acts like every student should already know everything before coming to class and always has some condescending remark when a student asks a question or doesn't know something. Avoid any class of his at all costs
Easily one of the worst teachers/professors I have ever had. All of the other ratings say exactly what I came to write.
Very intelligent and very understanding and caring. Although he can be hard to understand some times his intelligence outweighs this
Rushes through some of the harder material but spends a lot time on stuff we were supposed to go through already. Quizzed us on material we haven't covered yet, doesn't give us much grades outside of tests. Hard to understand lectures as he sometimes assumes you already know the material. Uses videos from the book to explain topics. Bad experience!
Do not recommend
I went to the office hours and he was super helpful. If you dont spend enough time on this class dont expect a miracle.
Hes caring about his students, always making sure everyone understands, and can explain the material in a smooth way
An Intelligent, caring, and a great professor. I recommend him
Dr. Awadallah is really smart, knows his material, and very well prepared for every class. He always makes sure everyone understood before moving on, and he is really easy to talk to. I would love to have him for my future classes.
He assumes you know a lot of material. Goes too fast and cant really grasp what he is saying. I suck at math anyways so this class sucked. He isnt fluent in English yet so also had no idea what he was saying half the time. Hes a good nice guy and all just the teaching isnt my cup of tea.
Boring, most often late to class, cannot teach at all if you are bad at math. Good luck with him grading because your Hawkes grades and Canvas grades will not match up.
He's a good professor but a little hard to understand because of his accent. Attendance is technically mandatory but he takes attendance randomly. So if you skip a class you might get lucky. If you do all of the assignments on Hawkes you will know what you need to for the quizzes and test.
Dr. Awadallah was a great instructor, his class was full of interaction, which made learning much better, you practice everything immediately when everything is fresh in your head. If you do the homework and pay attention in class you will do very well on the exams. His grading is very fair too.
Awful class. Extremely hard to understand what he is saying let alone his lectures are impossible to follow. I would not recommend taking him at all costs.
He is hard to understand due to his accent, but he really does know what he's doing. Always ask questions if you don't understand. As long as you keep up with the webworks, quizzes, and tests- you'll do fine. He's a fairly lenient grader too.
I have a late class with him with only 10 other people. He actually cares about each of us and makes sure we understand the material. I have never had a professor that went as far as him to help people understand the concepts. Only con is you need to get used to his accent.
Professor Awadallah cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He has a strong accent which makes him hard to understand at first, but you'll get used to it. He is a good calc teacher and gives a lot of resources. However, his tests are pretty hard, so actually studying is very important! There is quite a bit of homework but it's manageable
Knows what he's talking about and works through each step to solve problems, but doesn't always explain it well. I ended up having to use Kahn Academy and YouTube to understand a lot of concepts. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Cool person and obviously knowledgable but wasn't a great fit for me personally.
This class was pretty easy. We use hawkes learning, and he was always so passionate about what he taught. He tries really hard to help you out in the best way that he can, and he is always available for office hours. The tests are multiple choice. Overall definitely my favorite math teacher i've ever had.
He really cares about his students and loves what he does. He takes attendance but you do not have to show up to understand the material. I had an A and most of the stuff I learned online. His tests are pretty easy too!!
Mohammed seems to be a very caring professor but isnt always the best at teaching. His class will basically consist of you just sitting there as he demonstrates how to solve problems on the board, occasionally asking for volunteers. He also uses the online homework program hawkes, where most of your grade will grade will come from.
Don't buy textbook, you will need an online code given by professor. He doesn't like technology use. The schedule is confusing if you try to follow class lectures to the online assignments. He valued class input and gave us options for quiz and test dates. You have to be clear when asking questions but he is overall pretty understanding
Professor Awadallah is very knowledgeable and will answer any question you have. Sometimes, he will make an error while grading tests, but these are easy to get corrected. As with any math class, don't skip! You'll miss something important, guaranteed!
The orginal prof. dropped out so Prof. Awadallah filled in for the rest of the semester. Practice tests are totally different from actual tests. He rarely delve into hard concepts behind each new modules for his lectures so you will have to teach yourself using Hawkes most of the time to get a decent grade in class. No extra credits given.
The original prof. dropped the class at the beginning, so Awadallah picked it up and I have to say it was just bad. He can be lenient with the grading and rounds up your final grade at the end; however, you have to teach yourself most of the material. He uses the Learn tab on hawkes and just expects you to follow his thinking w no explanations.
The most genius man I have ever met
Be prepared to teach yourself everything because he is no help whatsoever in classes. This class was a nightmare with him, attendance was mandatory which I dont like because I feel like I did not learn one thing from an in person class.
In classes, he practically reviews the materials needed to complete the assigned homework the day after its due. His explanations for concepts feel. Attendance is not mandatory, neither is it for a grade according to his syllabus. However, he notified students that he would take action against those who continued to be absent without notice.
Not good at all. Very clearly had no idea how to run an online class. The actual classes are useless and I had to try and teach myself almost everything I needed to learn for the tests. Would not recommend this prof at all.
I strongly recommend you take anybody but this professor. He is very strict and the online classes felt useless to me. Like he just went over stuff we already could go over ourselves and it felt useless. I feel like I had to teach myself everything in this class to get a good grade and I learned nothing from him.
Uses another professor's recordings as pre-class lectures and then goes over it in class
One of the most frustrating professors Ive ever had. Horrible communication, emailing him is really annoying because his responses are always only a few words and never really answer the question. Classes feel really pointless. Had to teach myself basically everything. Please save yourself and take anyone but him.
Didnt like having him as my professor at all. He uses hawkes which is such a horrible homework program, I feel like it doesnt help me learn at all. Communication is poor and it feels like he doesnt stick to his syllabus policies. He started to take 2 points off your final grade for each absence which is a awful Policy. Do not take him
Worst professor Ive ever taken. Completely sucked any enjoyment I previously had out of math because of the way he teaches. The homework is really difficult because it is on hawkes, so you can try for hours and if you miss more than 3 problems you have to restart. Least favorite class Ive ever taken.
The most disrespectful and inconsiderate professor I have ever had. If you want to keep your sanity, DO NOT take him. He doesnt care about his students and their success but rather him being right. Also, dont mind emailing him, youll either not receive an email back or his response will be VERY rude, its like he doesnt want to be bothered
He is a nice person, but I had a very hard time understanding him and communication is very hard. He made us retake the first test because "we all turned it in late, that's very unfortunate", even though it was a canvas error. All we do is watch videos of another professor, Taylor, who I'm taking for calc 2 and he is a good professor, take him.
Mr. Awadallah is a good professor when it comes to teaching and it shows that he cares about what he teaches. Personally, I did not enjoy his class because his teaching style is more where you teach yourself first and he will go over it later. If you can teach yourself calculus go ahead and take this class, schedule at least 2 -3 tutoring seshes
Avoid this professor at all costs. Even if you have to take another professor at 6 in the morning I would highly recommend you do so. He has made us retake tests due to technology error, given us quizzes on Mondays on material due next Friday, and is borderline impossible to communicate with. All we do is watch videos of another professor.
Tends to go slow on the new stuff and quick on the old stuff. If you watch the preclass videos before class, his lecture will generally feel like a review. He was very open to stopping and re-explaining material if a student requested it. I recommend him if you are taking calculus again after high school and only need a refresher.
He is very hard to understand, dodges questions and does not communicate very well about classwork and technology issues. The entire class had to retake a test because WebWork didn't transfer the grades over to Canvas. Calc 1 is a cookie cutter class with recorded lectures by Dr Taylor and it felt like he was just there to have more class slots.
Calculus I is already a hard class to learn online. However, Dr. Awadallah does a good job with helping to understand various concepts. He genuinely cares about how his students do in the class. I would recommend him!
Me personally, he was like any other math teacher I've had. He teaches the material, shows you how to do the problems and then sends you to work on them yourself. If you have questions, he has no problem answering and helping. Yes, his accent can make it difficult at times but I wouldn't not take him simply because of that.
Horrendous teacher. The live zoom lectures are nothing but problem solving sessions that are cookie cutter of the lectures from the OTHER teacher we watch for hour lectures on YOUTUBE. He doesn't teach, Multiple times he's taken over a day to respond to an email (during the week, mind you) and is not always available. Not teaching whatsoever
Worst prof I've ever had. I can honestly not say a single positive thing about my experience with him. Useless lectures, I didn't learn a single thing from any lectures this year but you have to attend each one or get your grade HEAVILY penalized. Just a bad experience all around.
Heavy accent. He is hard to understand over Zoom. Every time he said integral I thought he was saying interval until he wrote it down. Does not respond to emails in a timely manner or fully answer questions. Tests are hard and are from the department. You have to watch Dr. Taylor's videos and do the notes checks and WebWork.
He doesnt know how to answer questions. Every time he is asked a question he will just rework the problem the exact same way. He does not check his emails at all. All the calc 1 I learned was from kahn academy on my own time.
Professor Awadallah is simply not good at communicating. He responds to some students within minutes and leaves others hanging for weeks on end. I have had to email him twice on multiple occasions to get answers to my questions. He occasionally doesn't understand what a student says, and instead of asking them what they meant, he smiles and nods.
This is the sort of professor you need to come to class prepared for. I could do without the readiness to brush student questions off, and the occasional attitude. Overall, not a bad professor. Take the time to work on the material after the class and you'll do fine with him. He can be tough to understand, but he's a pretty solid professor.
Although he is a nice guy, this class is terrible. You have to learn the section through videos he posts and he only goes over problems in class. His tests are mostly short answer which can ruin your grade if you do not watch the videos or closely follow his lectures.
This class is basically an online class but instead of just going online you have to attend classes where he just goes over problems and examples. Not the most helpful
While Professor Awadallah loves his job, he isn't really the best at it. He struggled with answering questions and he often made the content more confusing than what it actually was. Therefore, I pretty much had to teach myself the material via Hawkes, which also is a terrible learning platform. Overall, would not recommend.
Very good teacher. Very knowledgeable and inspiring.
Bro barely answers emails or responds late. His lectures are copy & pastes of someone else's, & its difficult to understand him from his accent. He really does care about his job & math but sucks at teaching.
I had to drop this class because I was learning absolutely nothing from this professor. I went to every single class and went to tutoring once or twice a week and still felt like I was not able to pass the class. His homework is way too hard and practically impossible because he doesn't each the material.
Would never take it again. When going over the material, he speeds through the lesson. Even when students ask him to slow down, he goes at the same pace. Review tests are way different from what is actually on the test. If you're taking his class, be ready to teach yourself the material.
Its not that the class (Intro to Mat. Thinking) is hard. Its just that the class is literally him going through Hawkes learn module and then you go do the Certify on your own. The way he explains makes no sense; therefore, you may as well go through the Learn module on your own anyway. Lots of quizzes at the end, slow grading. Random attendance.
Great professor
I loved this professor. He was so helpful and actually cares about your grade. Attendance only matters if you are failing his course. He always asks the class if we have any questions. Easy grader - do the work and you will get a good grade. He allows extra credit for the course and you get partial credit on exam questions.
Gave lectures describing the basics of the topic then, the hard stuff was learned in the online lectures. Teacher was willing to work with his students.
While he's clearly an intelligent guy, Professor Awadallah sometimes struggles to effectively communicate with students and clearly convey course material. He can come off as somewhat aggressive/aggravated when students ask questions, although I believe he means well. The workload is light and he often offers extensions to those who need it.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. He teaches so fast, never answers questions, and the tests were impossible to take.
I don't recommend taking this class. We weren't allowed any notes on the test making them extremely hard. Questions were asked in class but never fully answered. I would not recommend taking this class to anyone.
This class was beyond difficult, not a great teacher when it comes to new math subjects. He also assigns work just to move the dates back and forth so you'll not know when an assignment may be due. The test are pretty easy if you study the previous ones. If you take this course you'll need a tutor. cause he makes it more difficult.
Intelligent professor, but obviously has trouble teaching the subject to students. He constantly changes the due dates for the Hawkes assignments, practice tests won't be like actual tests (making them useless), gets irritated when asked questions, etc. He should be your pick ONLY if you can't find any other professor.
A very nice professor but lacks outreach. He cares about students but does not teach material clearly in a way that sits inside your head.
Professor Awadallah is a nice guy; you can tell he's very knowledgeable about math. My biggest issue with his class is his teaching style. He rushes through the problems in class and assigns homework before it is taught so you don't know what you're doing when you get to the Hawkes lessons. Be prepared to teach yourself in this class.
Not horrible but definitely not the best professor out there. You can tell he's a good person, but his teaching style was not my favorite and his way of explaining things was not great. I got the grade I did in this class from self-teaching and prior knowledge of the subject. He has an accent but for me, it was not an issue.
I want to express my appreciation for Professor Awadallah, I coincidentally had him for both calc 1 and calc 2. He's extremely understanding of personal issues, he remembered my name and was kind despite all my absences in his class (which did negatively effect my grade). He's an excellent and knowledgable professor and very comfortable to talk to.
Calc 2 is a hard enough subject, he does not make it any easier. You can tell that he's passionate about teaching math, he's just not very good in comparison to someone like Taylor. We were constantly about a week behind on the material even going into the final test and exam. I will say that the tests are not too hard, just do the HW assigned.
Nice guy, so bad at teaching math.
Great teacher! Responds to emails quickly and answered any question I had. Understanding and patient of any sort of emergency. Just listen to what he says and he would have a good grade. Flexible with raising your a good a few points if needed.
Great professor! Understanding, just have to do your homework and practices.
bro if you have a chance to take another class please do
Just not a very good teacher. He goes by the textbook definitions and rarely explains things in understandable terms so you have to learn most of the concepts from additional videos.
Dr. Awadallah is great at explaining concepts, and will work with you if you are struggling. He makes sure everyone understands before moving on and will meet with you outside of class if you need help. I think I had to go see him one to two times a week while I was taking Calc II and he helped me bring my grade up from what was failing.
You'll do decently well if you finish assignments, do extra-credit quizzes, come to class, and study the bare minimum for the tests. Pacing was not good. Still had two sections left to cover, a test, and final exam review with two class sessions left. Dates on the syllabus calendar were way too optimistic. Mandatory attendance leaves you stuck.
Awadallah is a really nice guy. He's very understanding. Lecture heavy and sometimes confusing. The Taylor's guided notebook made everything better if I didn't understand anything. His methods are different (and more confusing) than the Taylors. Tests are copy and pastes of the test review. Final was easy if you study hard.
Professor Awadallah was an ok teacher, The lectures were pretty pointless and boring because I only learnt the material from his links to videos of John Taylor who taught the course much better than he did. He was very nice to let me postpone a test because my cat died. RIP Viggo
Professor Awadallah was an ok professor. The lectures were pointless in boring because I only was able to learn the material from the guided notebook with links to John Taylors calc 2 videos. He was very nice to let me postpone one of the tests when my cat passed away. RIP Viggo
He's alright. Is very caring despite what it looks like and is very accessible. Classes can get confusing but as long as you supplement it with outside resources like PAL, Math Center, and Taylor's videos you should be good. Webwork can be excruciating to complete so do not wait till last minute to complete, but as long as you complete them its ok.
Good professor, he's very knowledgeable so make sure to ask questions during class if you don't get something! He also goes VERY fast through the lectures and you will miss a ton of necessary info if you miss a single day of class. He's not super quick at responding to emails / messages so keep that in mind. Besides that, a decent teacher overall.
I think it's a combination of the difficulty of Calc 2 and the teaching style of Awadallah that makes this class very difficult. Even coming in with previous Calc 2 knowledge from AP Calc, this was still a slog. Highly recommend the John Taylor lectures which are on the canvas, and definitely use the guided notes.
Can not explain for the life of him. Tends to over complicate. Textbook he follows is very confusing.
Don't take this guy bro. Prof. A is a nice guy but he's hard to learn from. He seems to forget that his students aren't all calculus experts and tends to skip smaller steps which can get confusing. If you have to take him, you'll likely have to teach yourself.
He can't teach to save his life, shouldn't be allowed to be a professor anymore. The only reason I passed was because I relied on the Organic Chemistry Tutor on youtube. He lectures a lot, doesn't answer questions well at all, and doesn't offer extra credit. Avoid him if at all possible
This rating isn't deserved. He is a much better teacher than the ratings say. He was very nice and understandable and does want you to succeed. He goes over questions if you have any and does give some extra credit quizzes to help your grade.
I think he is excellent at teaching, and he offered several extra credit opportunities during class. His exams were easy and covered the problems shown in class, but the homework was difficult and took up most of my day. I think his class was a bit compressed as it was taken as a summer course, but I would take his class again.
Very caring and engaged professor. He made sure to check with the class when doing anything on screen to clarify any confusion and gave many opportunities for extra credit.
Clear and direct lectures, will always stop and thoroughly explain for any question you have. He genuinely wants you to succeed in his class. The rating he's got is undeserved. Always extra credit available, practice questions/answers, etc.
Taking his course became difficult and stressful more than anything because his lack of knowledge around technology made it very difficult to plan my studying for exams. I also wasn't a fan of his teaching style. While I liked calculus, his class made me hate it. Overall he is a nice person, but being kind doesn't make you a good professor.
He shows you once how to do something, then rushes the rest of the class. Everyone is confused. Doesn't follow textbook nicely. Very relaxed on HW and other things, but does not have the teaching skill.
BEWARE OF THIS PROFESSOR. This man has had me drowning in calc 1 only to go in and take his rigged tests that are completely different from any content that we go over in class. The exam reviews he gives us are 1/10th of the difficulty that the actual test. I have no life; all I know is never meeting his expectations. save yourself.
dont take this guy bro. i feel like ive been waterboarded when i walk out of his class. i cnat understand the terrible accent, and bro cant answer a question to save his life. there is no avail in bro, only pain
Dr Awadallah is a good professor. He does problems in lecture and explains how the procedure and answers questions without judgement. Typical WedAssign homework that you had in Calc 1. Gives partial credit and curves. The final was very hard, but curved. It takes a lot of time devotion for homeworks. Sometimes homeworks can take hours.
He will make you feel like you understand the content in class only to turn around and give tests that are 10x harder than any review, hw, or quiz done on the material. Compared to other sections, his tests are made to cause pain, and he doesnt curve!
1. Very hard to understand accent. 2. Bad attitude towards students who ask questions. 3. Often 5 minutes late to class, and takes his time to start the lecture, clearly doesn't value your time. 4. Tests are weighted so heavy that quizes/reviews/homeworks are basically pointless. I took the risk of ignoring his bad rating. Do not make my mistake.
