At the beginning he makes it seem like it is very easy to get an A. The tests are a lot harder than the examples given in class and homework. If you don't study, you wont do well. He does curve the tests but I'm not sure its enough to really matter.
The class breakdown was as follows. 10% homework, 15% Project, 20% Exam 1, 25% exam two, 30% final. The homework's are easy, project wasn't difficult. But the first exam was impossible class avg. was around a 50. Second exam was very easy, avg. around a 95. Class grade came down to the final. If he makes exam one easier B+/A is very doable.
Hard to understand his in class examples from the way he delivers the material, however, tests are just like the homework so you can more effectively teach yourself through MyLabFinance. One group project, make sure you manage your time, but specific details and example projects are given for guidance. Overall, great choice for a professor!
Great professor and great class. Honestly learned more from him than in my intro finance class. Failed the first test but went to his office hours and told me exactly what to do to improve on the last two tests and it worked. Finished off with nearly an A in the class. Also, he gives you two pages to write formulas for the final which was helpful.
Mr. Irani is a very kind professor who gives chance for improving grade. Besides exams, he grades generously on both homework and project.
Irani was one of the best finance professors I have had. The lectures aren't too exciting, but he teaches the material very well. You were allowed cheat sheets for exams and the exams were very fair. I would recommend him.
Prof Irani is a sweet guy and he really wants his students to succeed. However, he's not the best teacher. He goes over easy topics for a really long time, then by the time he gets to the difficult topics there's not enough class time to fully cover them. We ended up not covering several chapters because he got so behind schedule.
Solid Teacher. Textbook helps a lot if concepts are unclear. Would definitely recommend him to anyone taking FINA 365. He is the only professor I know to walk around the School of Business an hour before the final to see if any students need help.
Irani was a good teacher. There were 6 homeworks and 1 final group project which wasn't very challenging. The tests (2) were exactly like the homeworks so if you can get 100% on the homework you will most likely get an A on the tests
The class is nothing crazy; for the most part, it delves just slightly further than FINA363. Vahid explains things thoroughly and gives tons of examples to make sure that you understand what's going on in the course.
Solid choice for this class. He is very clear about what is expected and what you are graded on. 2 exams throughout plus a cumulative final exam, they aren't too bad if you go to class, participate, and take good notes. The homeworks are definitely a grade booster, so try to get good grades on those. A big group project due at the end, start early.
Such an easy class. A couple of exams and a final projects. A few HW's sprinkled throughout the semester.
I want to say I think Vahid is a sweet guy. I just truly don't think being a professor is for him. I did not learn anything all semester. He gets defensive over questions/ ignores you, exams are worth a large % of grade. A huge project. He doesn't teach, he just reads off slides and expects you to get it or rely on book. Dont take.
He is a very kind and intelligent man. This does not translate to his teaching styles. Lectures were boring with him reading off of the slides, with his "in class examples" being incredibly difficult to follow and comprehend. Tests were just the hw (not helpful bc you have to teach yourself the hw) I would avoid. I am a good student and struggled.
He's a nice guy, however not the best professor. His lectures were not helpful, his in-class examples were rushed and difficult to understand. His formula sheets for exams are confusing and do not line up with the homework or lecture. Exams were based on MyFinanceLab and lecture examples. Only available after class for office hours-inconvenient.
Professor Irani is super nice. tests are just like the homework and in class examples. lectures are boring, but i just did the homework in his class. the group project is super easy and he curves all tests. this is not a hard class if you just pay a little attention/ Professor Irani is probably the best out of all the professor for this class.
Professor Irani is kind and accessible outside of class. He wants everyone to do well. Class is made up of around 5-6 homeworks, two midterms, one final, and one group project. The homeworks are longer and the excel ?s can be difficult, but ask him or the TA for help if needed. Exams have built in bonus points and are not too difficult.
Very solid professor would definitely recommend for Finance. Lectures and easy homework is bulk of the class.
He is a good professor, the homework is pretty easy but sometimes time consuming, he provides extra credit on exams, and the final project is fairly easy. The lectures can be kind of boring but he always does written examples during class. He is always available to ask question in and outside of class.
Irani is an amazing professor. He does a great job building on topics discussed in 363. I learned a lot in his class and he really cares about the success of his students. Would take again!
One of the best profs I've taken at UofSC. His lectures are kind of boring but it's really just the material. He is extremely helpful, offers test accommodations to SDRC students in his office for questions, and posts all his lecture slides on BB. Tests are exactly like HW and study plan in MyLabFinance. He even builds extra credit into all exams.
Irani is an awesome professor. He is always willing to help you and wants you to succeed. Extra credit is built into the exams which is so helpful. Attendance is required but his lectures are great and very helpful for exams if you pay attention. One group project but it's not too hard.
Irani is a great professor, he will always explain everything in such a clear way that anyone would understand. I had the opportunity to be an international exchange student and i strongly recomend him. In this course you would learn how to know when a stock is over or under value, and how to compare them to their competition. Great professor!
6 homeworks, 3 exams, and 1 group project. Attendance is taken every class. I am a poor student and tend to be very lazy. Homework's unlimited attempts. Use the study plan for exams on pearson. Lectures are fast. If you are taking 365 I would take him. Irani is an intelligent and caring professor. He is very willing to work with you, just ask.
Not a lot of work but I cannot stress enough how vital studying for exams are. I felt so prepared for the first exam and bombed it. I understood the lectures and homework but Excel is not used on exams. Irani is a fantastic professor though, he wants everyone to pass. I would just say it's hard to get an A.
Fantastic professor! If you have to take 365, take him. He genuinely wants to see all of his students succeed and encourages everyone to seek help in office hours if they need it. The class itself isn't too difficult but will definitely require some studying. One group project but you get lots of time and tons of instruction so it is very doable.
Professor Irani truly cares about his students and wants them to really learn the material and do well. I'm struggling because of the tests, however I do understand the topics. I've heard from friends this is the hardest of the 3 FINA courses, but Irani gives bonus points and lots of help so you can do well.
Professor Irani is clearly knowledgeable about what he's teaching. I found it difficult to pay attention to his class because of the PowerPoint, lecture-heavy style of his teaching. He is good at articulating his lessons.
Irani is a nice professor but this class is extremely challenging, and tests are even harder. Class lectures sometimes do not align with homeworks and exams. I study very hard for this class and still did not get the grade I wanted.
Great class and very understandable professor. Overall this is a hard class but as long as you show that you are trying you will be fine. Also, I found that reviewing the homework really helps with the exams. There is a group project but professor is really nice and is willing to help if you have any questions or concerns.
Irani is very knowledgeable and genuinely cares about you passing the course. The homework sucks because of the Excel pieces. There is one group project and if you're struggling, he will help you. If you did well in FINA 363, you should do very well in this class. For exams, know how to do the homework, study plan, and read over his notes.
You have 2 midterms, a final, a group project, and a few homework that make up your grade. Tests are exactly like homework and exams are curved as well. Professor Irani is a super knowledgeable professor who wants to see everyone succeed. Lectures can be boring at times but Professor Irani is probably the best choice for 365.
Such a nice guy who is passionate about teaching and willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're understanding the content. You get out what you put in. If you go to class, do the homework, and review the material before exams you will be fine.
Finance 365 was a very difficult class for me but Professor Irani really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is always open to meeting with you if you are struggling. Attendance was taken everyday, if you have good attendance and that you are putting in the effort he is on your side. I definitely recommend him for this course.
FINA 365 is a tough class no matter how you look it. Irani makes it as easy as possible for students and is trying to help you. Attendance is not mandatory however going to class helps. I found the homework assignments the best to study for exams. Class is graded by two midterms, a final, 6 hw assignments, and a stock valuation project.
Finance 365 is extremely difficult and throughout the course of the semester a lot of students will drop. Professor Irani is an awesome man who really cares about his students and only wants the best for them. I showed up to class everyday, did all the homework and studied for tests but still had a tough time doing well.
Professor Irani is one of the best FINA 365 teachers available. There are 3 main grades, consisting of 3 exams, 6 HW's, and a group project. The group project is not terrible and can easily be split up; plus, he gives very clear instructions for the project. The exams are very similar to the homework, so make sure to go back and study those.
Great prof. Weird excel problems on the hw but besides that no problems.
As long as you go to classes and pay attention in class you will get good grades. The exams are curved and similar to the material he teaches.
Great professor! Extra credit is built in through exams which helps tremendously. Attendance is mandatory and homework is done through Pearson with unlimited attempts before deadline. He is very helpful during his office hours and outside of class. This class is tough in general but he does a great job.
Great professor, super caring guy. Teaches the subject very well and he knows his stuff. The extra credit automatically on the exam is great, and the group project really isn't that bad. Take him if you can, he's definitely the best option for 365
He is nice. knows a lot. Sometimes curse of knowledge
Great prof, redo the homework to study for exams, class is doable if you show up
Great professor. Material easy to access and he is very available and caring. Tough class but if you study and learn the homeworks exams will be easy. Can't recommend him enough!
Prof. Irani knows his stuff! He is a pretty generous grader on the singular group project but you do not get feedback or know what had points taken off. Lectures are pretty heavy and sometimes hard to keep track. If you miss class it is hard to understand the examples. He posts lecture slides and is helpful during office hours. NOTE: B+ is 88-89
Very nice professor but moves very fast and i found the lectures to be pretty useless. Exams are not bad if you use the study plan on pearson because thats where he gets his test questions from. We're given a formula sheet for the exams but I found those didn't help because a lot of the formulas on the exams weren't on the formula sheet
Thank god I had Dr. Irani for FINA 365. He prepares you so well for the exams and is super accessible through office hours and email. Showing up to this office hours close to exams was a HUGE help. He does have an accent but is easy to understand. I would highly recommend taking him for 365, he is an awesome person and teacher.
Great professor who really cares about the students and their grades. Exam Heavy with a few homeworks in the semester. Exams are just like Homeworks/Study plan. Curves exams to help students. Hard material and boring but go to class and will be fine. Final group project was tough but grades lenient, best professor for this course.
Loved Professor Irani! I don't think he curved the exams, but he did include built in bonus point so you could get 37/40 and still get a 100%. Group project wasn't too hard, but it was a lot of work, very lenient on those. 6 homework's, 1 project, 2 midterms and 1 final. Got a C on one of the tests but an A on everything else and got an A still.
Professor Irani is one of my favorites at USC. His teaching style reminds me of Oz's 363 class if you liked how that was set up. You do Pearson homeworks but he gives you so much time to complete them and its a great exam review. I haven't finished the course yet but it's already one of my favorite fina courses I've taken by far.
Best Fina 365 professor at usc
Best 365 professor to take for this class. He teaches and explains concepts well and has a magnitude of examples as well. Exams are like the homework and study plans.
Best teacher for fina 365 at this school
He is very caring and accommodating. He teaches the material well and posts it online so you have access to it. The tests are long, but not too hard. I would read the textbook to study and do the homework assignments.
super nice guy!
Irani is nice and is extremely knowledgeable. However, it is hard to follow his lectures, I found myself losing focus halfway through. The content was very challenging for me and no matter how much I studied it wasn't good. He requires attendance and you must sign in. But if you were there he rounded grades.
He was fantastic, the material was difficult but was not terrible. Read the slides ahead if you can, just look over them. Then pay attention to the lectures read ahead a little bit then work on practice after reviewing the material and you should be almost perfectly fine. If you had any problems don't hesitate to visit his office hours.
Professor Irani was very kind and accommodating. While the content of his lectures are somewhat repetitive and boring, he always made sure everyone understood and answered all questions. Added bonus to exams and homework's are online with unlimited attempts. Super nice guy and overall easy class!
The tests are hard. He's a good prof but sometimes I would get bored during the lectures especially with a long afternoon class. There's 6 homework assignments and 3 exams that make up your grade. Attendance isn't very mandatory but if you attend he will round your grade at the end.
This is your best option for Finance 365. Professor Irani is a great professor and he truly wants his students to succeed. Each exam has extra credit built into it. He does not grade for attendance, instead he provides extra credit for attendance. You get extra credit if you only miss three or less classes. Definitely take this class!!
Professor Irani is the best choice to take for Fin 365. His class is very straightforward, if pay attention and study, you will get at least a B. The exams are very similar to the study plan and homeworks. Professor Irani was always encouraging students to come to his office hours and I would often see him helping students after class.
Professor Irani was great this past semester. I recommend going to his office hours. He is super helpful and will answer any questions you may have. The class itself can be boring at times because he just lectures, but if you pay attention and follow along then you will be in good shape. The exams are tough, so study and do practice problems.
Do not understand why he has a high rating. He does his best to teach and means well but he does a bad job. Lectures are boring and he is difficult to follow simply because he doesn't know how to teach. It seems like he is the best option for this class which is just sad for DMSB. Get ready to teach yourself corporate financial analysis.
This professor is awful. Be prepared to teach yourself the whole course. And this guy is the best professor for this course? This is very sad and looks so bad on the school of business. I wouldn't recommend him.
The exams are hard. I used the study plan and homeworks to study but they did not seem to be helpful to me. Went to his office hours several times throughout the semester but did not seem to help either. 80% of your grade comes directly from Exams and only 6 homework assignments. Would not recommend taking him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. You will reach yourself the entire corporate finance analysis course.
This is definitely the best 365 professor from what I've heard, but that does not mean his class is easy by any means. Lock in and do your reading/take notes on lectures. You have got to study for this class or you will fail. Conceptual questions on exams are tricky and calculation questions were difficult and dense. You must take 365 seriously.
The lectures are great and he explains everything in detail so that there is no misunderstanding. The class moves pretty slow so that there is a better understanding of the fundamentals. There are 3 exams which counts for the majority of the grade, as well as some HWs. He tries to make class interactive and interesting. Overall very good
I actually took his new elective course FINA 463 which is case studies in finance. He is a super nice teacher who is willing to help and accessible for questions however the homework/case studies were extremely difficult. It is all group work with no individual assignments except the tests which are only a couple questions long.
Very nice and caring professor
One of the best professors at USC—super kind, fair grader, and always willing to help. He's funny, makes class easy to engage in, and really smart. I've taken him twice; he connects material well and even answered questions during tests. Great experience all around. Highly recommend!
Irani cares a lot for his students and the material he teaches. The class can be pretty boring especially at 8 am, but the grade scale makes getting an A very doable, and he is much better than the other professors for the class.
I took Irani for 365, so when I saw his name for 463 I took it immediately for a finance elective. The class itself is hard but extremely useful with real life scenarios. One group you pick at the beginning with 8 group projects so pick carefully. Test were hard but he prepared great guides. Overall best professor in Darla tough course but worth it
Professor Irani is the best option for 365. His lectures are boring and slide heavy. Attendance is not mandatory though there is a check-in sheet every class. He will round your grade if you miss less than 2 lectures. Homework is 20%. Two midterms both at 25%. Final is 30%. He curves every exam automatically. To get an A, study the homework.
Great guy, grades exams out of 3 points less to help everyone have a curve. Study the homework's and all the exams are doable even though they are tough.
Professor Irani is the best! He curves all of his exams (you only need a 22/25 to get a 100%), and there are only 6 homework assignments, all of which are straightforward if you attend the lectures. I am a marketing major, and this class was still easy and manageable. Overall, he just wants his students to do well.
He's so kind
So kind and caring. Easy if you pay attention to lectures.
Big Mo is a beast
Very nice and caring guy, it is lecture heavy and it can be hard to pay attention all the time because he moves very fast. You definitely have to put in the work with this class but overall its really just formulas.
Irani is a fantastic professor, however if you took Oz his class structure and formula sheets are different. There is few homeworks throughout the semester and the exams have a built in curve which is helpful.
Firstly, he truly cares about the success of his students. He makes immense effort for all of his students to learn and do well. He is flexible and kind. Very responsive outside of class. I loved his lectures. I took his class as a senior and he explained things so well, many things finally make sense. However he moves fast so take notes.
He is cool but that doesnt save him from the fact that you literally have to self teach yourself everything. the formula sheet is a bunch of slop and u dont end up using 75% of it so its really frustrating. literally study the homework like your life depends on it
Its a normal finance class. Ok lectures, decent courseload, graded by 3 exams and homework. If you study the homeworks you will do fine on the exams. Honestly the best choice for 365, but don't expect anything exceptional.
He is an amazing dude. Cares about his students and an all around respectable guy. Yet, there's no way around this class being difficult. 365 is extremely hard, but Iranni is your best option. The exams are very difficult and you don't get a cheat sheet. You WILL need to study A LOT and teach the material to urself if you want a good grade.
Has a built in curve for his exams. Rounds up letter grades if you have good attendance. The course is challenging and you will need to study a lot. The only thing that I wish was better was his formula sheets for exams. There are too many formulas (some that we never used), and they are not organized. Overall, best professor for this course.
Great professor but definitely a lot of lectures and you have to lock in. It's pretty much 363 just explained in a more complicated way so as long as you pay attention you'll be good. Gives bonus questions as extra credit which is nice too. Definitely the best professor for 365.
