Dr. Manshouri is one of the best professors at Ryerson. He actually cares about teaching and the value of education, as opposed to just shoving the course requirements at us and telling to memorize them. His tests are very reasonable, if you go to class and study his slides you will get an A+. He is very passionate about sharing his knowledge!
He doesn't give a good basis for assignments. He does not post assignment outlines or notes. He expects very specific criteria though. For the group assignment no information or outlines were given. The professor only said what you needed after you handed it in and presented, to tell you that it's wrong. His English is not up to par.
prof Manshouri is nice but his midterm and final exams are extremely extremely tough. The questions for his exams came from middle of nowhere and were mark killer. The questions were way too specific, even memorizing each slide of the ppt would not be enough for the exams. Please avoid this prof, it would only drag your gpa down!
avoid this prof like a plague! his exams are the most difficult i have encountered during my four years if undergrad, and im in engineering! he also marked super harshly on the exams, worst prof ever!
horrible, horrible, horrible! toughest and harshest prof at ryerson, the midterm class average was in 50s, while the final exam class average was a 40! And he wont bell curve even the entire class failed the final exam! Two third of the class reveived a C- or below! Avoid this prof at all cost!
Words cannot describe how awful and terrible he was! His midterm and final exam were bloody brural, and on top of that he was a horribly harsh marker. The exams worthed way too much, with 35% each, many students screwed up the final exam and failed the course. He should at least add an essay component into the course so students wouldn't fail.
He pretended he would be a nice and chill prof to fool students to stay in his course in the first few classes, however after a few classes he would show his true personality that he's a rude, pretentious, condescending person. He was legitimately the toughest marker and the worst prof at ryerson. There are far better profs teaching this course!
Totally agree with all other comments said, this prof is absolutely awful. The highest mark a student received in this course is only C, and he failed more than 20 students. Many students reveived a final grade of D and D+. He didn't realize this is only an upper liberal and made this course unbearable. His marking is unreasonably harsh!
This guy is brutal and has no mercy! He said getting a C is very good to him according to his Iranian standard and he won't give students higher than C! But here is Canada and getting C is almost failing here! He needs to adjust to the Canadian standard. He gave the entire class Ds! I usually got A/A-in liberals but got D with him in this class.
This is a great course but the prof ruins it. If you get Manshouri drop it ASAP!!! Otherwise you will not get higher than a C no matter how hard you work.
Professor Mohammad is definitely the most horrible prof at Ryerson. He said there would be multiple choice in the final exam but at the end it was all short answers. If he incorporates more multiple choice then students can absolutely do better. The wording in his exams are very confusing and students don't understand what he asks in the questions.
horrible professor. threatened to make the final exam more difficult. reads off slides and is not clear on teaching subjects. he acts nice for the first few lectures but his true colors come out throughout the semester
Spring 2018: I enrolled in his CGEO702 class and dropped it immediately. Students would ask questions and he would be upset. I immediately transferred to Jeanne Maurer's CGEO-702 class. The two profs are absolutely day and night. I ended up with an A in Jeanne's class. There a reason why Jeanne's Class is full and his are not! you have been warned!
Great professor. I took him for spring/summer 2019. He's a nice person and he cares about students and what they learn. Although the presentation criteria is not written, he did say in his lectures exactly what he wants. Midterm and Exam were very easy. He is very enthusiastic about what he teaches and I would take a class with him again.
Great prof, he really cares about the students. He clearly told us what to do on the presentation to get a good mark during lectures. He knew everyone's names and cared for our learning. Exam and midterm were very easy.
Professor Manshouri was a great prof that cared about helping his students. He taught very well and made everything easy for us. There was a midterm, report and a final which were all easy. The midterm and final were multiple choice and consisted of everything from the powerpoints or stuff covered in class. The report was given in adance so do well
Midterm and final were literally on everything and very technical and specific questions!! He is also extremely rude and entitled if you ask him any questions. Please switch if you have this prof, this was my worst mark and it's a liberal! Don't be me and not listen to the reviews, I had to pay the price of that...
So boring and useless. 75% of the content isn't even related to Toronto, although the course is called Geography of Toronto. Also, he is pretty demeaning when responding to questions via email. The course is not hard, but if possible, take it with someone else instead.
His grading criteria is very unclear
I really enjoyed his class. We did not have to buy a textbook and his exams were solely based on his lecture slides which he would post online after class so even if you did not show up as long as you memorized those you would do great. He's very enthusiastic about the course and I felt that he was a decent marker, I got good on the assignments
Best bird course of my life. man blessed me an amazing mark
As long as you read the slides he gives you, there's no way you can fail either the final or the midterm, the assignment for the class is also very simple and can be completed in a night.
Extremely easy online upper liberal. Both midterm and exam were pretty easy and straight from lecture slides. No textbook required for the course and the research essay was very simple and there was clear guidelines to follow for it. Absolutely great professor, you should definitely take this course with him!
Prof Manshouri is the most amazing prof I've ever had. Assignments/Exams were easy. He really works hard to make sure everyone is ready and prepared for the tests.
A remarkable prof at Ryerson. He is definitely a true gentlemen and always there for you during office hours if you need help on the essay.
He seems to be off topic during lecture. A nice professor but does not know how to engage with students. Midterm wasn't difficult but you're not given anywhere close to enough time. The exams may be more predictable, but absolutely hard.
Great professor, content is straight forward, assignments are clear and fair, exams are fairly easy if you have studied. Easy A+.
Favourite prof of all time. He's very intimidating but will always be glad to answer your question.
honestly one of the best profs I had! he trusted us and respected our space when we had the midterm and exam. didnt force us to turn out cameras on at all! he posted all the lectures. Exam and midterm were easy if you study from the lecture notes.
Honestly, he has a bad rep but he was great. He truly cared about his student and made sure that we had access to all the resources we need. The paper was really straight forward and the exams were easy if you watched the lectures, attended the classes etc
The paper was confusing but he marked it fairly. Midterm was easy, but he completely tricked the class on the final exam. The questions were extremely specific and uncalled for in my opinion.
Honestly his midterm is basically slides content with a couple not from them. The final was also majority slides, but there were a couple questions from readings and specific components of the slides. The essay you should start early and ask for help because it can be confusing. Overall, great prof and chill class.
The course may seem hard at first with all the readings but if you attend the lectures and take notes you will for sure get an A. he's a gem
these reviews dont serve him justice!!! hes actually way nicer than these reviews. cares about his students and is actually funny. geo content was based on the ppts and the break down is great overall. would def take this prof again
This prof is a really good guy! we have no textbook use, everything is recorded, he makes the class fun and the midterm/exam is based on the slides, just come to class and pay attention
An excellent teacher with interesting lectures and adequate exams. Would recommend to anyone looking for good grades in the class.
This prof is great. no book required, the lectures have like 20 slides each, no proctoring, no trick questions in the examinations. He is passionate about geography and it really shows! take this class !!
Not sure why he has low reviews. He's super nice and approachable. Midterm was super easy, got a 90. Essay was so easy to follow he literally tells you what to write in it, also got a 90 on it. Just waiting on the exam now but I'm sure it will be doable. He is not the type to try to trick and fail students. Take him!!
Professor Manshouri is a great prof, always really approachable and friendly! His lectures and tests are also really straightforward, and he's a generous marker. Thank you for an amazing semester, Professor!
He marks the essay very generously and clearly explains what he wants. Tests are extremely straightforward and he assigns a few readings but you can get an A on the tests without really reading them. He responds to emails pretty quickly and helps out a lot when you ask for clarification on the essay. Overall he's an amazing and kind prof!!
Very straightforward with a essay, midterm and final. Midterm and final are pretty easy just off the slides and lecture. Essay is chill just writing about technology and hes very caring and nice but lecture can be long at time but overall good prof!
Never in the last three years attending Ryerson have I had such a horrible professor. I STRONGLY urge anyone with accommodations to NEVER take a course with him because he has zero understanding some students need an extra day in order to submit an assignment to the best of their ability
not good
Best upper liberal class i took with Mohammad Manshouri. Map making and paper is really interesting and he grades well. He knows a lot and makes lectures interesting. :) I recommend him as a Geography of Toronto prof.
Great prof. His midterm and final were straightforward, study the main concepts and attend lectures regularly youll get a good mark. The essay assignment was easy, just follow his instructions. His lectures were interesting and he is a very kind, genuine person. He knows what hes talking about, would definitely recommend!
Great prof. Had him for 2 courses and it shows that he really cares and loves what he does. He knows these courses are electives, so he makes them easy to follow, clear and concise. Midterm and final straight from slides and readings. Assignment is long, but can be done in a weekend if you try hard. Solid prof. 100% recommend. Thank you Mohammad!
Great prof. Course is very easy cause he knows its an elective. Literally study his lecture notes and youll do very well.
There are two exams (final and midterm) and one project which are straightforward. His lectures are fun and interesting. I recommend this course and this prof.
This course drag my GPA so hard, it was the first time I took GEO and i will never take GEO again. It was a bad decision. The midterm and final account for the main grades, 40 questions, one question per minute, time just not enough to read question and think. Speechless
1. There is no textbook required for his class. Instead you can access his slides which represents 80% of the course content. 2. His midterm and final exams are only MCQ, where a majority of questions were referenced from his slides. Otherwise the course readings and videos will be covered on the exams. Only his research assignment is difficult.
No textbook use material all come from slides make sure you study those. Essay was marked really fairly. Test weren't hard to do the material it self wasn't challenging and came from the lecture but you only got one minute to answer each question that kinda stressed me out and felt rushed when doing the test
He is one of the best professors I've had at Ryerson University. He is caring, and the lectures are engaging, which makes them not boring. There is a midterm, a Final, and just one paper. Grading is fair, and every stuff in the tests is covered in the ppt he uploaded. He is so funny and plays piano in the breaks. HIGHLY recommend taking his class!
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. He is an engineer and should not be teaching humanities sustainability, he literally has no idea what he is talking about, spends the whole class rambling, misrepresents most of the course material. The midterm are just trick-question trivia, do not require or encourage substantive learning.
Great prof, he makes expectations pretty clear on how to do well and the course is graded on a few things, midterm, final, and an assignment. Midterm and final are easy as they are entirely based on his slides and supplementary readings, and the essay assignment is marked very fairly as well, high recommend this prof for this course!
Prof Manshouri was the best!!! I first hesistated after seeing his reviews. But thankfully I stayed in the class, cuz he made my life easier. His lectures are bland, however his slides are informative and were enough to do well on the midterms/exams! Best part, the tests were online. The essay was easy, marked fairly, got A+, he's a gem of a man!!
Professor Manshouri was a really nice professor. Despite not going to his class every week, I was still able to manage the content and get a decent mark. He is accessible outside class if you have any questions. His grading is really easy although the midterm and exams has questions that were too specific. Overall, he is not a bad professor.
So many people told me Mohammad was the hardest GEO793 prof, but after hearing from others with different profs - he definitely is the best one. Midterm, essay, and exam. Both tests were easy and paper was graded nice. He is passionate about Geo and was very excited for the essays. Overall cool guy. I would 100% take another course with him.
Great professor. Would definitely recommend him to any students.
Amazing prof
Professor Manshouri is a amazing professor and gives straight forward slides/content and goes through the lectures with his students. The exams were also straight forward which I liked, all you need to do is read the slides and make notes. Essay assignment was fun to do and easy cause it's about popular Toronto areas. Take his class everyone!!!
The lectures offer zero insight, just reading from the overwritten slides, and some of the content was rather insensitive about Indigenous history, would not take again.
the exams were both extremley easy, for the final you have to do some of the readings as you will be tested on them. essay took a really long time but the TA marks super easy. didnt go to any of his classes so idk how he is as a guy but all that matters is that he goes easy on you
His exams are exactly like the slides with no surprises. I didn't attend most of his lectures and still earned a decent grade. The essay, albeit time-consuming, is graded fairly . Overall, the course is mostly hands-off, with the only stressful part being the essay. No discussion boards or group assignments and low commitment, solid prof overall.
Nice guy. The course itself is simple - a midterm, a paper, and a final. The paper was fun to write as well and he marked pretty easy on it. Would take him again.
Great prof! Didn't need to watch his recorded lectures, so just took notes on the lecture slides and performed well. I would recommend picking a topic you're interested in for the essay, as it's fairly time-consuming. Overall 10/10, take the course w/ this prof.
Dr. Manshouri is an amazing professor who cares deeply about his students and about what he`s teaching. He constantly makes jokes relating to lecture material, which make his classes enjoyable and lighthearted, and will also answer any questions the class may have during his lecture. If you can, I`d suggest taking him as your professor.
Highly recommend. Explains what needs to be taught, midterm and exam are off his slides word for word. However, the term assignment doesn't have a clear guideline but was marked very lightly.
Take this course with professor Manshouri !
Manshouri is one of the best profs I had in Fall 2024 term. at its essence, the content of the course was boring. Having said that, he tried his best making lectures fun and entertaining by cracking jokes here and there. Midterm and Final were pretty light, just make sure you spend some time on the essay. you can easily be successful in the class.
Great prof, great lecture. Very easy course and super easy exams.
EASIET CLASS EVERR. He is super easy going and caring.
Top 3 prof at the entire school. Course was light and made a 2 hour lecture entertaining. Genuinely cares about what he's doing and is passionate about what he does.
Not sure why his rating is so low. I had him for geo110 and I bet you can't name 5 profs better than him. He makes a 2 hour lecture fun and engaging and doesn't just read off of slides. The class contained 2 exams an essay. He puts a lot of effort into his work and is a fun guy to talk to after class. Overall a great guy and I'd 100% take him again
Prof Manshouri is a caring, funny prof who makes EUS 180 super easy. Midterm and final are are online , and the major written assignment is straightforward. You can skip some lectures, but he mentions key terms that show up on tests. Overall, great guy and a true bird course.Definitely recommend him if you want a chill class with low stress.
Dr. Mohammad Manshouri was such an amazing professor, both exams were online, and the assignment was extremely easy to follow. If you're looking for a easy course I would suggest Eus 180!!!
Good professor for this course
He is one of the nicest professors you will ever meet. He is also a great lecturer, and can even boring topics sound interesting. Also the exams cover lecture content almost religiously. If you attend lecture there will be zero surprises on the exams and you will do well he even drops hints as to what questions will be on the final.
Great Professor, he truly cares about his student's wellbeing as well as the value of this teaching and how well his students understand his content. Totally recommend taking this course with him!
Really great guy his lectures are very informative and the exam is 100% based off the lectures
One of the last good professors at the school very caring and gives good feedback
Excellent and highly knowledgeable professor. His lectures are engaging. I would definitely recommend.
Highly recommend taking this course with this prof! 2 online exams and one essay. He is a caring prof who truly tries his best to make his lectures engaging and fun, although people don't participate because the course itself is boring.
