Awful teacher. He has a rough accent, his power points are from the publisher of the book, he is not prepared to class, hard to understand, he talks completely off topic. He is new to Depaul. He requires you to buy Aplia which cost about $120 and there are 2 homework assignments due every week. The test are nothing like his study guide. Avoid
Professor Mirhosseini is a very calm professor and he is dedicated to make sure that his students learn. He does have an accent, but it is not a big deal. You do have to do some homework and I think it's harder than the actual exam. The exam is straight off the notes and review. This is college do the homework and study you will get an A.
Prof Mirhosseini is one of the best professors I've had at DePaul so far. All econ material is dry, but he does everything in his power to make it more interesting and clear. He truly cares for his students, but you need to take the class seriously. He hates people who mess around and talk over him. Easy homework and good prep for midterm+final
Worst professor ever. His tests are nothing like his study guide. He is very hard to understand. He does not post the full notes of class online. Lots of pointless homework that's not on the test. Avoid if poasible
I don't think he realizes how much he rambles. He also skips through slides way to fast without explaining them. If you like boring lecture based classes. He's your guy.
Two tests midterm 35 questions and final 45 questions. He gives a practice tests that are essentially the same. takes attendance. guy was alright.
Mohammad is a great guy. He gives you all the information in class lectures. His homework is helpful and so are his study guides. His test are tricky and you have to make sure you know all the information to do well. If you don't want to study, you will not get a good grade. Att/part: 5pts HW:15pts Mid term: 35pts final:45pts Every point counts!
One of the reasons I decided to major in Econ. Great guy and interesting lectures. Do the HW and study for tests, and an A is very attainable.
His lectures and examples come straight from the textbook. Really dry material, nothing is very easy to understand, especially with his accent. Online homework is mandatory and graded. Not too difficult, so it will save your grade.
Really enjoyed him as a teacher! He does lecture a lot but I think he makes them interesting and bearable unlike some teachers. Easy-ish class. Just make sure you do the homework and the short one page paper. I put in minimal effort but made sure I handed everything in on time and I got an A.
Two words: STUDY GROUP. This was the most difficult class I've ever taken, bar none. Professor Mirhosseini moves quickly through heavy material. He expects you to be proficient in micro theory, algebra, and calculus, and he will help you, but you either get it or you don't. Exam questions are distributed in advance - practice. Get the textbook.
Professor Mirhosseini was a amazing professor, and always found a way to connect what we were to what mattered to us. He will tell you exactly what is in your midterm and final, but STUDY. Every question wrong is one percentage point off your total grade. Your notes are the key, but he puts everything online. He is willing to help, if you ask.
He is truly a funny guy. I overall enjoyed him. My only complaint is that the homework and the test do not really match up. The midterm and the final exam are actually pretty tough. You need to know your stuff in order to get a good grade.
His lectures are VERY boring would not recommend you take this class unless you just want to be read everything off of a powerpoint that you can read, doesnt even let you write down the notes in full because he goes through his slides v quick without in depth explanation. He has a moderately thick accent that is hard to understand 85% of the time
Professor Mirhosseini was a good professor. He lectures a lot off the powerpoint, which is basically out of the book. You have to be ready to take notes quickly. However, I believe he is one of the better professors the economics department has to offer. 80% of your grade is midterm and final, so you must do well on both.
His class was a pleasure to take. He curved both the final and the midterm, which were the only 2 tests taken in the class. Homework was online and not hard, it was weekly due at 12 am on Sunday night. He would open up the homework if he sees that not everyone had the chance to finish it. He also was very understanding if you need help. A+ teacher
Very simple guy. Lectures with a powerpoint, online homework, gives sample questions for midterm and final, which are all multiple choice. It's easy to pass the class as long as you take the time to actually study for the material outside of class. He was very funny and tried to come up with stories to entertain us throughout the lecture.
Speeds through the lectures and sees that the class didn't get to finish or comprehend the material but moves on anyway. Not very accessible outside class. Had to teach myself a lot. Seems like the type of professor that just expects you to know certain things off the bat and doesn't spend a lot of time explaining anything
Great guy. Your grade is based on 3 things: midterm, final, & homework. Midterm & final are easy. He gives you a practice test the week before each exam thats very similar to them. Be thorough with each problem. Homework is online, easy, and based on the notes. Dont bother buying the book for the class; all the info you need is from his slides.
Good teacher, just pay attention and you'll do just fine. He offers extra study sessions and the homework is all online.
Great professor. Makes sure you understand the material and provides extra help if needed. Show up to class, pay attention and ask as many questions as needed and you'll pass.
Overall, economics is a difficult class to take. He breaks down the class so you can understand the material and he relates it back to the class. My class was given SI sessions for extra help. If you put the effort into the homework that will help your grade tremendously. If you study for exams and try you should be fine.
Econ can be a pretty dry subject but I actually really enjoyed Prof. Mirhosseini's lectures. He really tries to be engaging, and beware if no one volunteers for a question he calls randomly. Don't buy the book just get the cengage site (hw is there) takes attendance everyday, and the midterm, final, essay, and hw make up most of your grade
Wonderful professor! Don't bother buying the textbook because everything you need is on the powerpoints. There is weekly homework due on Cengage so buy the access code. The midterm and final were right off the powerpoint and was a really manageable class!
He's okay. Economics is a rather dry subject, and he explains the topics well. The classes just seem so long. He also has a paper you write for extra help for your grade (on some economic topic or episode of Seinfeld) you just use a lot of economic terms to describe what is going on. I would recommend him, but you may have to pay $120 for Cengage.
Dr. Mirhosseini has a way of lecturing that makes a rather dull subject interesting. Im not an Econ major, but his class was easily my favorite of the quarter. You dont need the book, everything you need is in the slides. He also started doing paper homework so you dont need a $140 code. Study and UNDERSTAND the concepts, or tests will be hard.
Mirhosseini is very good at making Economics interesting. The class is difficult, but he does a good job at explaining most concepts. I would highly recommend studying the presentations and homework thoroughly outside of class, otherwise you will not pass the class. The homework is not hard, since most of the answers are on the internet.
Took him for ECO 105 online class. Intelligent guy, good at explaining material and tying it to real world examples. However, I did not learn much. All we had is about 1 hour of lectures each week to watch, and then we had an easy quiz and homework. I paid 3 grand for the basic stuff I can learn online for free, thanks depaul
I took this class during Fall 2020 in which we were doing virtual instruction and Prof. Mirhosseini was extremely accommodating and empathetic for his students. The weekly assignments included 2-3 hours of lecture, 1 short quiz, and 1 hw assignment. He uses real world examples to make the content easy to understand. Wants students to enjoy learning
took a fully async class of his fall quarter, the recorded lectures were pretty long, but the structure of the class was pretty easy. Each week you just had to watch the lectures, submit a homework assignment, and take a quiz. Not bad at all if you just take notes
If you're a business major looking for an easy ECO 105 class take him. His lectures are long, but he goes over the material and does the 'reading'. He can be confusing sometimes, but there are Quizlets that can help you if you are confused. There are quizzes and homework every week based on the lectures. The final is a short paper.
Mohammad gave a lot of tests but if you listen to his lectures and take good notes you will succeed in his class. He is straight forward with his class so if you do the work you will pass.
Excellent professor. Would love to take him in person. He is very understandable and somehow makes his lectures not boring to watch. Very good teacher, very passionate about his subject
Took ECO 105 as an async class. Had weekly quizzes, but as long as you watched the lectures (and took notes), you'll fly through. Didn't have a final or a midterm too so that was nice.
Assignments are super easy because he provides students with pre-recorded videos explaining the concepts in the homework in ways that are easy to understand. Homework assignments are also very short. Excellent professor, would highly reccomend his microeconomics class.
Professor Mo is such a great teacher, and I'm assuming he's improved since his previous reviews on this site. The class consists of weekly homework with a couple of weekly tests thrown into the mix. The lectures are all you need to pass this class; do the work and it's an easy A.
Professor Mirhosseini was a wonderful professor Autumn Quarter. His Special Topics class was related to healthcare economics and he was more than able to deliver when it came to providing useful and engaging information for the class. As someone who would like to enter the field of healthcare economics through founding a business, his class helped.
good professor, frustrating grading process. Did not receive grades until the week grades were due. He has an assistant help him grade so it takes him a long time. If he would have graded tings earlier I could have asked question, got feedback and done better on future assignments. Fun class but needs better grading process.
He is VERY good at his job. I learned so much in his class through his lectures and our class discussions. He would create real-world problems and connect them to topics that we are interested in. This is also a flex class, so you didn't have to be in person all the time. No midterm, just final which is take home and extremely similar to homework.
Explains things very well. Weekly online quiz. He's awesome
Took Mirhosseini for Business Analytics in the Spring quarter and he was a great prof. The class was based on homework & participation. His lectures prepared you on how to do the homework to make sure you got an A. As long as you pay attention in class & participate, you will learn a lot & do well. Hes also very kind and accessible outside of class
Do not take his class. He doesn't explain material well. With the HW assignments he expects you to be the best excel spreadsheet user ever existed, doesn't let you know which shortcuts to use, yet he gives the most complex problems. Final project was hard to do especially if you don't have the version of excel that he has. Not worth the stress.
HIs exams are difficult. His lectures are him rambling about random stuff and his exams are completely different. You cannot find anything online so you better study. He's nice but what do you even do with nice :(
I'm going to give props to him. He's a good teacher with lots of insight of connecting analytics to real life. BUT, his grading and homework is so stressful. Doesn't post grades on D2L, so you have to pray you get a good grade. His final went over modules from before midterm even if not cumulative. It took a miracle for me to pass.
He's a really good professor, I've taken him twice now. However, this class I took was online and he wouldn't respond to emails quickly, and grading took a while to get back. It was difficult to understand what the grading criteria was since it took him so long to respond, but when he did respond he was very helpful.
I took him twice, and didn't regret it. This class was offered flex, but most of the time I came in-person. Excel is important and he introduces you to formulas. The homework was sometimes confusing, but he went over the formulas before he assigned it. Midterm and final were both online and fairly easy. Just participate a lil in class to do well.
The hardest part about this class was learning how to use the excel spreadsheet to complete the homework questions he provided. Sometimes the lectures were very long and not clear but I took this class as an async. There was also a 10-question midterm and final so take notes on the videos. He gave a small assignment on excel as well for a final.
He's a holistically good professor: he knows his stuff, his lectures and examples are very helpful. I took it online, and there was never a module I didn't understand. The homework didn't take more than 2 hours a week, and he posted tutorials. At the end of the day, he wants you to learn, not just complete work.
You have weekly vids that are around 30 mins to an hour long, weekly homework that doesn't take any longer than 30 mins, weekly online discussion posts, and a short final paper on a topic of your choice. Nice guy, very reasonable with the grading, and a good professor overall. Definitely take him!
Great teacher, that makes funny jokes every class. The excell work might be tricky but overall easy class
Pretty lecture heavy but because participation is graded, there is a lot of student participation and discussion. He is pretty funny and makes the class feel engaged with the topics and examples he uses. Midterm and final are multiple choice and not that difficult. I would definitely recommend!
Overall super nice and funny professor makes the class feel engaging. Class is pretty lecture heavy but as long as you take good notes you will do good on the mid term and final. Make sure to participate as he takes note on who does and doesn't.
Excel work is easy (group projects involved 2-3 people), and he mimics the lecture's group project. Some discussion posts varied week to week (post your original and reply to 3 students). Midterm and Final covered his lectures (A LOT of material, so just double check you know the basics). Friendly and helpful. Take him for sure!
LOVED HIM! Very nice and easy to talk to. Midterm and final are incredibly easy. A couple group assignments, didn't take more than an hour for each. You do not need to take notes at all, but show up to class and participate for attendance, as he will take notes on who speaks throughout the quarter. Overall, really enjoyed!
Honestly so funny & chill. He made lectures as fun & interesting as Business Analytics could be. His exams are really straightforward & he makes it easy for you. Group projects on excel but they are also very simple & basic, nothing extreme. Just calculating averages & whatnot. Easy grader, gives you good feedback & overall great. Def take him 5/5!
Meh. Nice professor, but does not know how to make lecture interesting. There was a lot of pointless homework, I think just the group projects enough would have been enough. The midterm and final are mostly common sense. If you apply simple logic, it would be easy to get a C or above. If you can't that's on you.
Professor Mirhosseini is such a great professor. He goes into detail in all of his lectures. Very little to no homework besides a couple of assignments. Midterm and final exams are easy just as long as you study the study guide.
easy class. is available outside if you have questions. midterm/final are on scantrons but straightforward if you pay attention in class & understand the material. goes through excel with the class a lot which is helpful but gets off topic a lot. says a few of the same phrases all quarter. overall fine prof for an easy class
Super easy class but really really unorganized. No clear schedule of when assignments are due. The projects were easy but he would not give us enough time in advance to do them/plan with our groups. Midterm and final are both in class exams and they were pretty simple and straight-forward. Also he grades participation which I did not like.
Prof Mirhosseini is very nice and understanding. Weekly homework assignments before the midterm, and after midterm there are group assignments due weekly. This class is lecture heavy, but pretty organized. Participation matters.
All I can say he is the lamest professor in all of DePaul.
I bet his other classes are better, but for the business class, he was not the best. The grading was unfair, he did not prepare us for the exams and some assignments. He has a teaching assistant grade everything. The tutors are can not help. Exams make up more than half your grade- which are very hard.
Sometimes nice but a terrible teacher. Whether it's office hours or class, he doesn't create a welcoming space for students to get help. He inconsistency checks his emails and takes weeks to grade assignments. This is his first year doing excel tests, which are very difficult, doesn't prepare you well for them- very vague. Worst professor I had.
He is one of the worst professors I have ever had in my whole career. I would say do not take a class with him unless you have no other options. If you take this class you have to work so hard in order to understand things, and he doesn't even provide any review packets for exams. He has three parts in the exam MCQ, short answer, and excel.
Heavy lectures, tough grader, heavy tests, and no proper guidelines for exams.
He is a very kind professor and is really good at teaching. My issue with his class is that he never posts any of the Excel stuff on D2L. I am just someone who likes to look back at other examples to make sure I'm doing everything right. If you fall behind at all you cannot catch up on your own.
A very knowledge guy about analytics but is truly bad at explaining the concepts. Exams are worth a large portion, which are very hard. Also, he won't post Excel problems completed that when we worked on in class. Attendance and participation is important.
If there are no other professors in the area, enroll in this class; if not, you will struggle through the entire quarter. The first two weeks will be simple, with clear explanations from the professor. But there will be serious issues as soon as the Excel stuff begins. I would recommend do not take him.
Professor made it easy understanding concepts for this course. Midterm and final were kind of hard but not too hard. Weekly homework is pretty simple to complete. Make sure to answer at least one question per class since he does grade participation and attendance that way. Overall, I would recommend him for ECO 105 since he makes it easy to learn.
Over half the class got below a 70 on the midterm with each question wrong being an entire precent of your grade. He asked how to make the test better and he refused to listen to anybody. Homework is only 3 points each, so if you get one thing wrong you basically fail the homework. He wrote a rude email after I tried asking for help.
I would only recommended taking him if you have no other options the class consists of 2 excel assigments,3 group projects, a midterm, and a final with a MC, Short Answer, and excel portion. He's not very good at explaining things and his study guides for the midterm and final are very vague so you're better off just studying the lecture slides
The class itself isn't hard but he's a horrible professor and he makes his TA grade all his work. He's not understanding at all and will take off points even if stuff is out of your control. Don't take
Not the easiest A, but he is an engaging professor if you participate. He's also way more willing to help if you participate and utilize office hours. the excel stuff is posted on D2L as a recording of the class which is super helpful. he can be tough but in a beneficial way! would take again
He makes simple concepts unnecessarily complicated. His fixation on "participation" wastes class time, as students give meaningless or repetitive responses just to earn their daily points. He then drags things out even more by asking each student for their name and searching his computer to assign points after every response.
He overcomplicates simple concepts, and his vague exam questions require long explanations mid-test because he admits he didn't know how to phrase them. Students lose points over his mistakes rather than their own. To make it worse, he wastes time tracking participation after every response.
I personally had a good experience with Mohammed, he clearly lectures the important stuff in class and his helpful outside of it. He will sometimes YAP about a topic that may not be super important and make you lose focus, and he doesn't do a great job at teaching the excel portion of the class. Participation and attendance really matter.
Worst teacher, doesn't respond to emails. Literally said he didn't know what his own question meant on the midterm. Don't take him.
Nice professor. Lectures are informative but I will say it is very difficult to keep up with the excel portion because he goes so fast. 1-2 hours of homework a week.
He's a very nice and funny guy, and he's willing to help you if you simply just ask. The class is lecture heavy so be sure to pay close attention to the material he's saying. If anything, he records his lectures if you ever want to go back and rewatch something. If you just show up to class and show him, you're willing to learn, you'll do great.
Good Prof. Workload is 2 individual assignments on Excel, around 2 discussion posts, an Excel certification, and then 4 group Excel projects. Midterm and final are very easy, and you get a cheat sheet for the Excel portion. He takes attendance in every class but gives a lot of easy opportunities for participation. Really good option for BUS102.
Class is very lecture heavy and attendance is mandatory yet he is flexible with it. Second half of the course has a different group project each week. You should try to speak up once per class, which is also how he marks attendance. We got out of class 10 minutes early each time.
Participation matters a lot and almost got me. Pretty easy class if you understand basic excel and GPT some data analytics concepts. Chiller.
He's a very good lecturer; he knows how to keep us focused while teaching the subject well. He is very good at explaining Excel and doesn't mind re-explaining formulas. GREATLY appreciates participation and gives you extra credit for it.
