the worst professor!
Took Him in Fall 2003. A moody guy, but his exams and the project are quite easy. Make sure to show all work when doing calculations and also doing concept questions with full explanations, as he will deduct many points per mistake (5 to 10 POINTS~!!). Study a bit and you will get no less than an A-
not a good professor. don't listen to you and does what ever he want's to he thinks he's all that.. he's a pice of Crap. don't make the same mistake i did.
Imagine a very strict Iranian professor, who happens to be a Deputy Chair of Social Sci Dpt.Result:ZERO Tolerance on lateness (you'll be publicly critised after 1st, and advised to "withdraw" after 3rd.Homework collected every class and recorded in his grade journal.Barely uses books and gives ....
He is the worse, never listens to u he jumps ahead of u while u are explaining to him and he is the second head of the dept so u know there is no one to talk to about him. please stay clear of him

Professor Soleymani is so good his exams are easy. He looks strict but he has very helpful nature.
you won't understand what he talking about and you won't learn any thing from this class;he changes his mind all the time(don't do his project in advance;do it till the last minute).He has very bad temper,CAREFUL!The good things are: you don't need to read the book and the tests are very easy.

After I took two intermediate ecos in Baruch, i felt that he really is the one can teach. Some Professors graduated from Ivy leagues are jokes. I promised after you took his classes and transfer to the other colleges and take other eco's courses, you will remember someone in BMCC always yelled at you but make you to learn.
His lecture was difficult to understand. He didn't explain things. I feels like he assumed that we all know everything about economy. Besides, I can't understand his heavy accents.
I don't believe that it can go any lower then this. :)) He might be a genius in Eco but he cant explain for crap. Without whole due respect fire him and get a better one who can talk to people and not humiliate them in front of the class. And god sakes tell him to stop preaching he is not a priest.

Stay away from him. He likes to humiliate students. Don't be surprised if you hear some words such as stupidity. It seems like you study for only half a semester when he spend another half of a semester for rambling how to do useless projects that yields nothing to students. He is very disorganized about projects so don't do it prior to due date.
He may very well be the WORST professor I have ever had in the history of my schooling. He is a psycho-path, he shouldnt be allowed to teach. You dont learn anything at all about eco except how the u.s. wants iranian oil. you can NEVER be late or absent or he will simply fail you. You do well on tests depending on his moods STAY AWAY!

This is the worst professor in bmcc. please students don't take his class for three reasons. one, he does not speak clearly so its hard to understand when he teaches. two, he is a hot temper man who tries to embrass you if you ask any questions. three,if you work full time dont take him, are else you will be leaving his class with a WU if you miss

IT IS TRUE THAT ENGLISH IS NOT HOS FIRST LANGUAGE BUT AS LONG AS HE CAN COMMUNICATE THE MATERIAL HE IS THEN OK.I HAD A C+ BUT I THINK IT WAS MY FAULT HE IS A GOOD TEACHER AND ONE OF THOSE WHO ARE CONCERN ABOUT STUDENT FUTURE.STUDENTS THINK TEACHERS HAVE TO DO ALL THE JOB BUT IT IS FOR US TO KNOW WHAT WE WANT AND GO FOR IT LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.

This professor is crazy, he was fun and cool for the first half of the semester and then went off the deep end. Unfortunately he is one of the only micro-ec profs at the school so if you need this class show up, do well on the easy exams and just do your best not to make him mad. Don't expect to learn a whole lot though.

I would recommend that students at BMCC stay away from this class. This Professor can't teach, and I mean can't teach. This country is a free country, and it was built on the idea of free speech. However, his classes are controlled in a dictatorship manner, like somewhere in the middle east. I spent one semester in his class and it was total hell !
People who are complaining about this teacher are just lazy. It's college not high school. He wants his students to lern something not just to be present in his class.

When I first started this class, I didn't like it at all. I was very concerned about the strong accent that prof. had, later it became understandable and the prof. is also very nice, as long as you work with him and treat him with respect, he will work with you to make your grade better, offers extra credit and tests arent difficult.
Really really good professor.. Learned a lot in his class and it wasn't even difficult. He also canceled the project so the class could concentrate on the material taught in class. Take him if you can. Just do your homework and get an easy A
he is very clear.he also is very understanding just talk to him beforehand if u have any problem. for the project he gives you all the data that you need and review before each exam. just do what he says and get an A
Great Professor. I recommend him!
Despite some of his mood swings, he is a very easy professor. His quizzes consisted of 2 or 3 questions that were very similar to the practice questions he did in class. But he is VERY strict with attendance and latenesses. If you get on his good side he'll help you out. Stop by his office once in a while and come to class on time then you're good to go
Well, what can I say, this prof. is actually a nice guy, but in reality hes teaching method is not very efficient. Most of my classmates including myself did our hw's and did our best to fallow his lead. His grade was the lowest I ever got, and I honestly tried very hard.It is very difficult to ask him questions when he will be rude toyou!Not good

He's so easy! If you can't pass his class, you should drop out of college! He gives problems in class that are exactly what's going to be on exam, except he changes the numbers. Sometimes he's moody, just don't get on his nerves. Class discussions were funny. Highly recommend, easy A!
at first you think hes going to be a real tough teacher but hes very nice and the material is easy enough to understand, the way he explains it. I would highly recommend him.
Prof. Soleymani is really good as a person. At first he might look very hard, but once he start to know you he is very nice. he is a Prof that make sure that his student understand. if you do not understand something in any quiz, he will help you. his class require some math, but his grading system is perfect. you will do really good in his class.

Interesting Professor. I came in with no knowledge and left with lots to think about. Very polite, allows interesting disucssions. Requires lots of reading. Overall, interesting class. A few writing assignments. Uses blackboard heavily - must check it & read often
This professor shouldn't be be called as such. He has no idea how to teach, I learn nothing in his class, he was unclear in his explanations, and didn't used the book, so it was even harder to follow the point. If you have any question, he has to answers for it: "don't worry about that"or "if don't understand then you should drop the class"Up to u.

Prof. Soleymani is a good and competent professor. His teaching method is very helpful to learn the subject fast. Because of that, I didn't have to study hard with the textbook. He is eager to help you with your homework either in class or in his office. You just need to be in class on time, to be disciplined, and respectful.
Your not going to be able to understand a thing he says in class. Then he never answers your question if he feels its stupid. If I don't understand as a professor you should be able to help not him though. He'll say one thing on your exam then want you to really do it another way. The lessons were always all over the place. THE WORST!!!

This professor is terrible. I have been an A student throughout my whole academic life. But with him , the story was about to be changed. He has a terrible method of teaching. He is unable to be understood. Moreover, he is quite rude to students. Another thing that really annoyed me was his lack of organizational skills. He lost two of my exams.

At first he comes across as being rude but he warms up. I never thought that I could have passed his class. Don't miss any classes and take notes. The book is not helpful. Its either you get it or you don't. He wants everyone to do well. He even insist on students sitting in the front of his class. If you are lazy this class is not for you.
This guy is angry at the world it seems. I believe that he hates American students. He knows his subject but can't convey it to his students. No empathy for students whatsoever, very cruel.
Horrible professor!!! Does not know how to teach or even have the patience to teach! Huge language barrier that he says is the students fault because he speaks perfect English. Makes you feel stupid and wont repeat anything if you ask! I was so stressed out this semester I even had suicidal thoughts! I now have to pay for therapy! May God forgive!

Took this professor in Spring 2012. Yes, he can be rude to students but if you follow his rules, you should be fine. It was basically a math class so if you're good at math, easy A for you. The exams are the same as the hw so if you understand the hw, you should ace the exam. Barely used the book in his class. He'll help you if you don't understand
What are you guys on!? This professor is amazing! I am so glad I ignored these reviews and took his micro class. He does not coddle you; he CAN be harsh but he will help you. You will LEARN but you need to be interested in learning, not just the grade. If you are thinking about majoring in finance or economics, I seriously recommend Soleymani.
He is fine for Macroeconomic, but he got attitude. all you need to do is follow his rule, then you will be fine with him. but if u didnt follow his rules, he'll really mad and rude.
He is very rude to students. His accent is very thick and sometimes hard to understand. He will go over the methods of application, but he doesn't clearly explain it conceptually. The test are very similar to the homework. He wont take the time to help you individually. Will probably have to rely on teaching yourself alot of the material.
2 things : 1. if you dont like economics , dont take him. 2. if you like eco and are good at it , take him , do homework be nice and you will pass.
Professor Soleymani can be sometimes a little bit scornful, but he is a very funny person, and I like his personality. People often get upset with him, because he makes you work hard. Overall, his tasks are clear, and his classes are fun. If you are ready to work hard enough, take him, you will not regret.
He can be super rude (its his way or no way) but his class is fairly easy. His teaching method makes the stuff super easy to learn & understand. Pay attention to when he teaches the graphs & mathematics that go along with it. Do the homework a review for the tests & you'll do fine. Don't talk back to him, just shut up and watch the math techniques.
Professor Soleymani is very good professor! If you do your homework, pay attention to his lectures, he will like you. He is NOT rude. He is just teaching students who don't take education seriously. If you don't want to study, it is not the right time to attend school. Education will never hurt you. His exams are straight forward. Study hard!

He gives quizzes every week, but they are easy and help a lot.

Anyway those stuff are very easy only basic things cause he doesnt have a clue for Economics, you will not learn but if you do your work youll get the A.

He is so funny and cute. He is also a very intelligent person and a good professor. His class is hard if you do not care about this subject and if you are not willing to put an effort. For me his class was an easy A. Sometimes he might add some scornful jokes about lazy students, but overall he is fair. Would have definitely taken his class again
Worst teacher in bmcc, lost all my tests during the semester and then later on in the semester said i failed all 4 tests, mind you we only took 2 tests the whole semester. this is so likely of bmcc to hire a teacher that is so unorganized and can't teach at all. You can ask me what i learned this semester and i would look at you like I'm lost
He's not a professor that takes lame excuses. He is very straight forward with what he expects for you to do as a student. He likes it when you participate, always ask questions he will answer them. He may be sarcastic at times but thats just his form of humor don't take it personally. I enjoyed his class b/c he is passionate about the subject.
Prof Soleymani not very clear and doesn't give you any feedback after handing you your tests. The exams are based on the homework which makes them doable but sometimes he'll take off up to 15 points for a tiny mistake. Also his mood shifts every class: one day he can be very nice and funny, the other very mean and rude.
I dropped this class as soon as I could. He's rude to the students who aren't "teachers pets" & will completely make you feel stupid when you ask a question to seek clarification about what he's teaching. Hand writing horrible, & the quizzes every week all add up to be your FINAL grade. So avoid this class if you value your GPA

Amazing professor. Strict, but deeply cares for his students. Will readily answer questions you have in and out of class. I do not understand these ratings. Yes, he is a tough grader but if you actually want to learn and show him you are genuinely trying to understand the material, he'll take that into account in your final grade. Dont' be afraid!
Did not explain a single thing of what he was doing. Wasn't very helpful either and didn't help make the class digestible for the late night hours the class was. AVOID HIM!

It was very hard to understand him he has a heavy accent which is totally understandable but it was hard for me to understand. Wish I made the changes earlier before I trashed my money it was very unfortunate.
He literally has not shown up to class for the last 2 weeks. No notification, no alerts, no contact. We have been forced to "sign attendance" and he has updated who has not posted on the discussion board for attendance, but nothing else.
He so BAD. He cannot teach, and is hard to understand. We had random exams and a final for this class. On two occasions, he threatened to report me to the "board" for plagiarism 'cause my work was "too good" Im not sure if he doubts his teaching ability but he should because everything that I included in that work was from google. Also he's sexist.
I took this course during the COVID-19 pandemic and he was by far one of the worst professors I've had at the school. We were only graded by 2 exams and the final. The 2 exams were based on the homework and the lecture. I would avoid taking this professor as the first choice but if you need the credit then take him as a final option.
