I went into Mr Abella's class with acute math anxiety. I no longer feel like an idiot when it comes to algebra and higher math. He was very helpful and considerate of all of us in his class and I ended up getting a B+ at the end of the term! :)

He was very helpful. Never told anyone to see him after class for an answer - he answered it immediately. I was dreading this class and afterwards I felt a lot better about my math potential. It would benefit the school if he also taught the intermediate algebra class - that's waht I'm waiting for.

Very helpfull. Uses lots of examples and makes sure everyone is "getting" it. For fun, ask him about time travel and ask him to tell you horror stories about his gradeschool math experiences.

I have bad math anxiety and I had taken MTH097a prviously, only got a C, and did not retain any of it. I heard that Dr. Abella was a great instructor, so I took the MTH097 from him. I totally understand what I didn't learn before. He is one of the best assets to WCC. If you are the kind of person that has math issues, like me, hes the one to take.

This class is extremely easy. I suggest that if you have taken algebra before, you should try testing out, otherwise it's long and boring. Since I had taken algebra, I got bored, but I understood things that I had not ever understood before. He's very good at explaining things. He's the best teacher I've ever had.

AWESOME teacher!

Dr. Abella was very clear and always asked if the class had any questions. He didn't offer any extra credit and class attendance was extremely important. He is funny without even trying. I enjoyed his class and would take him in the future because the way he explains math is clear to me.

Maybe too easy, but explains how to solve problems very well.

He was very easy and answered all questions. He gave examples of how to do homework problems during class. He got very boring from time to time though. He reviews the day before test. That's helpful. Overall if you are horrible at math and are worried about this class, take this class. He really helps you out and the class goes at a slow pace.

Very good teacher. He doesnt go ahead untill everyone gets what he is trying to teach. In a lower-level math class it was a little hard becuase there were a lot of dumb people in the class, but he did a good job.

I didn't find his class to be especially hard at all. I do not attribute this to the content being "dumbed down" - I don't feel that it was (he actually covered more than most professors). He simply made the content so clear that it became easy. Fantastic professor and very helpful, though perhaps a little aloof.

He is one of the best teachers yet! if you have a chance take him! He lets you use note cards on the test and overall his test are not that bad. He dosen't even take attendance. So if you only want to come on test days thats fine. Before every test he also gos over a test review. use the review for your note cards. hes the best. good luck!

Dr. Abella is my all-time favorite professor. He really has a wonderful way of explaining math so that anyone can understand, and he does it in a way that doesn't make you feel dumb. He was very funny, and very personable. He was so cool, he even let me practice speaking French with him after class! Brilliant man, wonderful instructor.

This is the best teacher ever. I did not do good in math until I took Dr. Abella. He asks student's if there are any questions after he explains a section, and he is patient. (very important). There are reviews before test's which helps me alot, so I'm not studying all over the place. Take him ! I wish he would teach all of my math classes.

Simple, to the point, yet gives you the entire background on why you can do the methods learned in DiffEQ. Therefore, if you put your mind through the explanations, the simpler methods won't (actually will, but...) be taken for granted.

I have very much enjoyed taking Mr. Abella's class. Because of the way he taught, I actually enjoyed learing trig! He is a very helpful and very kind teacher.

Dr. Abella has a great deal of patience, explains fully and clearly, repeats things as needed, allows formula cards, provides enough time to take notes without missing parts of the explanation, and provides ample time to finish tests within the class allotment. I plan to take math with this professor until I finish my math requirements.

Great teacher. Pay attention in class, do the work and you will get an A. Only pay attention and you might get a C or so. Calculus is hard but it isnt at the same time. The algebra parts are hard. Explains things thourgly when you ask him. I wish he touught higher level Calculus classes. I took calc 1 before but failed, with Abella I passed.

he is a great teacher, he will go over it for you if you don't understand without a problem. you don't turn in any homework it's more so for practice. he'll also go over any homework problems TAKE HIM! if you like math you'll pass even if you don't, still you'll probly pass.

Mohammed is a great math instructor. I was terrified of taking calculus but he made it so EASY! I started out doing all of the HW problems but then quit after chapter 2. He reviewed everything you needed to know for the exams and I earned a 4.0 :) Made the material very easy to understand. Great instructor - highly recommended!

Mr. Abella is the best teacher there is. I've taken him for Mth 097 and 169 and I passed both of them without even trying. Then I took Mark Batell and failed the class. I'd choose him every semester if I could.

I am terrible at math but when I took his class it's like he performed some voodoo spell on me. Why? Because he made it so easy! I dropped Math 165 twice because it was too hard for me but I tried it a third time and man, Abella just made it click! Thanks to him I could do ALL homework assignments and tests with no problem.

Shows exactly how to do work, explains well and thorough. Always willing to help and made sure that everyone knew to JUST ASK if you didn't understand! He is very friendly. Just pay attention, take notes(I copied everything), show up for quizzes and exams and you'll pass with a high grade.

Mohammed is in my opinion the best teacher at WCC. If you are taking a math class I highly recommend him. You get used to his accent immediately and he is a great guy. He is also the only teacher that allows you to use not cards on the final.

Mr. Abella is very knowledgeable in Physics/Math. Personally I think he is the best math teacher ever. I took him from MTH 097 - 192. He gives examples to explain the material. He's easy/understanding and doesn't give much HW. Twice the whole semester at max. Make sure to attend everyday. Especially for exam/quiz reviews.

He is a very good teacher, teaches you exactly what you need to know. No surprises. You get to use an index card on the quizzes, tests and finals, he gave homework once all semester. Attendance itsn't mandatory but if you don't go you won't pass. I highily recommend him for any math class.

My class was barely given homework. He always went over material that would be on his Quizzes and Tests. I loved walking into class knowing I would walk out understanding what we had learned. Fun class! He goes off topic and is sometimes late but he's my favorite math teacher at WCC.

Hes a nice guy and an okay teacher, but if you have to go on in math I wouldn't take him. His class is too easy. If I were taking Calc 2, I would be worried that I wouldn't be prepared. If you are transferring or going further, take someone else. I didn't have to learn the material - just had to make a good notecard -and I got an A easily

He doesn't use connect math. Assigns very little homework, but teaches what is needed to know.

This guy really helps you understand difficult concepts. He also doesn't assign lengthy homework problems that are normally given in this class. He makes it very clear what will be on the tests and exams. If you're looking for a good differential equations teacher that isn't ridiculously hard, this is the class to take.

Best teacher ever!

He makes sure you understand the criteria, he is a fairly easy grader and does not give much homework, however grade is dependent on test and quizzes so attendance is mandatory and no make-ups are provided.

Mohammed is a great teacher. I've had problems with college algebra from other teachers before, and I haven't had any problems in this class. He explains concepts in a clear way. In class textbook use was very limited. He assigns practice homework problems, but they aren't graded.

Take notes and review them, and you're going to pass. He allows note cards on tests and the exam. NONE of the homework is ever due, it's just practice, so you don't have to do it. He does multiple problems on the board, which helps a lot and will do more, if you ask. He's very friendly and helpful, and made math fun. :)

Hands down, the best math teacher at Washtenaw Community College. He is really helpful and very pleasant. Kind of likes to talk about things that only *relate* to math, like physics, but I didn't mind because it was all interesting anyway. With him, my math anxiety was thrown out the window and I had confidence that I never knew had!

Good teacher.I would take this teacher again. Not hard to understand. Little to no homework . Tests can be hard at times, and grading is confusing. He doesn't let you keep the tests or quizzes. Easy quizzes and slightly harder tests. Does small tangents that are a part of his examples.

He understand & will make accommodations. 1 homework assign. a wk, 1 quiz a wk, 3 Test & final during semester. Focus doing good on tests. Attendance not mandatory. His review tell you exactly what's on test/quiz. I didn't use textbook.

He's a genius who is genuinely passionate about math (and physics) and he goes over like 50 example problems on everything you learn, from easy to hard problems. I am really bad at math. To be specific i already failed intermediate algebra and hoping this time i will pass. He is always there to help you, and give extra credit when needed. I have struggled with math all of my life. This is the first math class I have ever taken where I felt like I could actually learn the material with out the stress of tons of extra work. A great teacher wish he taught math 125!

Prof. Abella is a great Diff EQ professor. The man really knows his stuff, he has a PHD in physics and math, and you can tell. The class is not too hard if you come to class every time, take notes, listen and do the practice problems from the textbook. He allows you to use a 1 page "cheat sheet" for exams, so there is no excuse not to get an A.

I had a great experience with this professor. He's quite obviously a genius but doesn't shove his intelligence in your face in such a way that you feel that you can't learn the material needed to pass the class.

I was very afraid to take math. A friend of mine convinced me to take Mohammed Abella's class. All it took was one session to get over my fear and change my mind. I was looking forward to going to class to everyday. He makes you believe you can do it, and YOU CAN. After 4 months, I feel I can take any math class now, any level. Thank you a bunch

Prof. Abella teaches with magic or something... he writes out numbers on the board and somehow they just enter your brain! It's so cool, he's understanding, and will try to help you understand.

Uses real-life examples from his physics background to solidify concepts. Very accessible outside class. I genuinely hope that my future classes will align with his teaching schedule. Really nice professor. He definitely wants everyone to succeed. There was weekly "homework" from the book, but it was not graded and we were allowed to use notecards on our exams. You can tell he's very smart because sometimes he can go a bit fast, but he will always slow down if you ask!

This class moved online at the start of the pandemic and that was such a shame. This man is wonderful, and like someone else said, it's like he teaches with magic. He has a heavy french accent but he's still easy to understand, and the way he presents problems and their solutions, for me, made Diff Eq plug and play, I didn't struggle at all. 10/10

Amazing teacher and a good mentor. He respects all his students and doesn't insult us by micro-managing his class. We used advanced calculators cus already he believes in our ability to do calculus by hand and we used formula sheets as he doesn't expect us to memorize formulas. His class was fun and that's me saying a lot for a diff eqn class, lol.

He's the best math teacher I have ever had--he will always help you and encourage you. You have to do the work and be patient with yourself. Dr. Abella is Washtenaw's most treasurable gem in the math department. Whichever math class you have if he's teaching it take him.

His lectures and what of instruction makes everything very clear and understandable, even for a math class. He worked through the questions at reasonable speeds, showing each step by writing it out for the class, even while in an online format. The only downside, is that he doesn't answer emails outside if class.

Prof Abella is an amazing prof!! I remember reading the rate my professor comments before taking this class, thinking they must be fake because they seemed too good to be true. He truly is the best prof I've had at WCC. His tests are really easy and same with the quizzes. Make sure to go to class and pay attention to the review sessions.

This professor is a GOAT he knows exactly what he's talking about and very knowledgeable in his topic. Grades are mainly based on tests and quizzes, every week there is a quiz so you have to stay focused. this class does need studying but we barely used the textbooks because his teaching was enough

In the beginning of Calc 1, he is HW heavy to make sure you understand fundamentals, but he eases up towards the middle of the semester. Does exam reviews the class before. WRITE DOWN EVERY LECTURE PROBLEM, and you will get an A. He also wrote me amazing letters of recommendation!

Professor Abella is the best professor that I ever had. He helped me to like mathematics again, and I could learned that course very well. So, my background in MTH 191 is good and strong now and this is just because of having an amazing professor. I really recommend him.

Professor Abella is extremely aware of the difficulties of this course and the method it is taught in. He is clear and precise in his explanations and always looks out for student feedback. He dedicates a large portion of time to making sure everyone understands each concept and he is extremely proficient in his understanding of diff eq.

Dr. Abella is the best math teacher I have had. I was terrified of math and this instructor completely changed my way of thinking. He makes difficult concepts easy to understand. All questions in class are answered clearly. Any questions out of class are quickly answered by email. If you get a chance to take one of his courses you should do it.

I took this class virtually and it was great. He explained everything clearly "laymens" way he made sure everything understood the material before moving forward. The test were great and he taught exactly what was going to be on them. I would suggest everyone to take his class.

Dr. Abella is very nice and is really good at teaching math. I missed 2 weeks of class and he dropped the quiz I missed. Very easy material and easy quizzes and tests. He can be a little disorganized and I had no idea what my grade was until end of semester. All chalkboard lecture which isnt my fav. Would recommend if struggling with math.

His before test review takes the exact format as his tests, you know what to expect. Doesn't use textbooks for teaching but does for homework.

Dr. Abella is an amazing Calc teacher! Online zoom with him was amazing he gives really good and lots of problems to help you understand the concept! I hadn't been in a math class in a few years and I always have heard horror stories about calc 1, so naturally I was pretty nervous to take it. So I went on here and read reviews for Dr. Abella and they were nothing far from the truth. His teaching style is great and I 100% recommend him. He made sitting through 4 hour lectures via zoom tolerable!

Professor Abella is very knowledgeable, but talks about irrelevant topics a lot. But he wants you to succeed. He breaks the homework down into 2 total assignments for the whole semester. There were weekly quizzes.
