With one lecture a week and one lab, this was beyond easy. I am in no way good at math whatsoever, but I got an A. Attendance not mandatory for lecture, but obviously you need to go to lab, which are all simple. You work in groups, so don't freak if you're not great at math. Reviews test and allows little sheet for it. Tests are super short as well
The class is an easy A if you come to class, do your homework and study for test. The test is essentially the same as the study guide but with different numbers. Great teacher would take him for STAT 515
He is just absolutely amazing! Wish he could teach every math out there! If you're not good at math or even if you are just take him you wont regret it at all.
Prof Q is the man!!! Seriously couldnt have made stat easier. he lets you make your own formula sheet for every exam, usually gives full credit on homework as long as you hand something in and the final isnt cumulative! he is an easy grader, gives partial credit, he's such a nice guy and couldn't have taken it easier on us. loved his class.
Dr. Q was an amazing math teacher! I went to office hours multiple times just for clarification of a few things and he was always SO helpful and ready to teach. Class lectures can be a bit boring at times, but he makes sure that you know how to do problems and gives you lots of examples. He gives you everything you need to get an A in the class.
Honestly one of my favorite professors. He makes STAT enjoyable and easy for anyone. If you take advantage of what he gives you, you'll easily get an A. He gives you practice exams that are almost identical to the exams and always you to write on your formula sheets. He is always there for feedback and gives you everything you need to learn.
Quasem did a good job teaching me what I already knew from AP STAT (same class but no credit even with a 4) haha, but really he wants his students to learn and understand the material. If you study the practice Exams you should easily make a high grade. I think he must curve because idk how I got an A. Attendance is mandatory, he takes down names!
Awesome professors. I wish my other professors were this open and accessible. Always helpful and have a open door policy. I am currently in STAT 516 and the experience continues. Really like the way Q breaks it down.
Professor Q is the man. He is without a doubt the best math/stats teacher at South Carolina. Study guides are crucial to the tests. His classes are designed to actually teach you, and what he asks you to study will be what is on his exams. Most teachers don't comprehend actually teaching.
Without question, Prof. Q is the best math/stats instructor I've had in all of my schooling. He is clear, genuine, and always willing to help. This is one of those classes where you have to keep up with the material daily (at least for me), but he breaks down the concepts so well that almost anyone can understand. A must-take professor. Amazing!
BEST Prof. I have ever had at USC. I am awful at math and was scared that I would struggle in this class, but Prof Q. made sure that each student understood all of the test material. He also gives out study guides which is basically the test. I highly recommend if you want an easy A, but also want to learn the material!!
Quasem is an awesome professor that cares about you actually learning the material. He's always available for help after class, he offers practice tests that are 90% of the actual test, and he will not throw any curveballs. As long as you show up to class, listen, and try, getting an A will be easy because he is so helpful.
Prof Q was quite possibly the most DISORGANIZED professor I have ever had. Never posted anything he said he was going to post (things that mattered too, like the answers to the study guide). It is almost the end of the semester and I have no grades posted for the class even though we have submitted 15 homeworks and had 1 exam.
Professor Q has been my favorite professor Ive had so far at USC. Amazing teacher, always available after class, and is a genuinely nice guy. Tests are very similar to the practice tests and he always specifies in class when you do examples what will be on the test and how many points itll be worth.
Professor Q is a decent professor. However, he was very unorganized with no grades posted to Blackboard all semester. Final grade is composed of 3 exams and weekly homework. LOTS of homework but Chegg can help. Exams basically follow his practice exam 2 he will post on BB. Exams were relatively easy. Final non-cumulative. Textbook not needed.
Tests are identical to practice exams easy A!
With 50 plus class mates I know the one's who always do their work and the one's who do not. I tried Stat 515 before with another professor but you can bet Professor Q keeps his word. He does what he says, take notes attend class follow sample tests. I must say if you do what Q says you won't be surprised.
Professor Quasem had way too many students this semester and he didn't have a TA to help him, so feedback was very slow/non-existent. But he ended up giving us a 100 for the homework as long as we turned it in on time. The tests are VERY similar to practice exams that he gives posts w/ solutions. Just do HW and study practice exams for easy A.
Professor Q is incredibly nice, a great teacher, and super helpful in his office hours. He's very good at explaining complicated things and making them seem simple. He posts sample exams about a week before your tests that are almost identical to the real exams. STUDY THEM. If you do the homework and study the sample exams, you'll get an A.
Professor Q is a great professor who really cares about his students. Test are exactly like sample exams he provides, so as long as you study them, you will ace the class. He was pretty unorganized with giving homework back and putting things on blackboard. But his pros greatly outweigh the unorganized aspect. He provides note sheets that are great
Professor Q is a great guy, He explains things very well and makes the material as straigh forward as possible. He gives practice exams that are identical to the exams. And the Homework is pretty tough but he wants you to work in groups, and also Chegg.
This class was extremely easy because of Quasem. I never went to lecture because he would post videos of the lecture online, and I usually didn't watch those either. There is a lot of homework, but he is so disorganized he got behind and ended up just grading them fro completion. STUDY THE PRACTICE EXAMS, they are the actual exams with different #s
Attendance is mandatory and lectures can drag on. However, he makes it clear what you will need to know for the tests. Practice exams are the actual tests but with different numbers. TAKE HIM!
Quasem was an alright professor. He provides notes to fill in, which is nice, but is very disorganized and confusing at times, which is frustrating. His exams are graded pretty easily, but his homeworks are graded by TAs, which was frustrating because they would take off random points. Overall would recommend. s
Terrified going into it, but he was so great at explaining everything I got it right off the bat. Basically tells you what is on the tests, gives you formula sheets, is all around rooting for you to get an A.
Professor Q does exactly what he says. One of the few professors at USC who does exactly what he says. Study and follow the sample tests and it will be an A class. Enjoyed the class and all of my classmates I know earned A in the course.
Professor Q does what he says. One of the few professors at USC who does exactly what they say. If one study and follow the sample tests and it will be an A class. Enjoyed the class and all of my classmates I know earned A in the course.
Professor Q makes a seemingly difficult class very easy by grading super leniently and giving tests that are exactly like his sample tests. Homework was on material that wasnt on tests though and it took forever. The TAs also graded it harshly. Q is highly disorganized and unreliable, but if you come to class and put in effort, youll get an A.
Quasem is great. I was never good at math but the way he explains the material it is very easy. Attendance is a must or you will not get the material. Specially if you are weak in math. Plus its entertaining to be in class. Definitely would take him again for another course.
Super unorganized, did not know how he was going to lay out the class when it started and the schedule changed several times during the maymester period. I bombed almost every test and still made a B. Homework is important in this class and saves your grade. Although, I would NEVER recommend him. You never are clear on the grading criteria.
I took this class in a 3-week maymester and honestly I would have been so bored in a full semester setting. This class is so easy. Not a ton of homework, and the labs are fun! He has two tests and a final, they are all EXACTLY like the practice test. He lets you bring a cheat sheet to the test! He also curves! Seriously take him!!!
It was May 3 weeks class. I am self motivated so it is not an easy class for slackers who complained the entire time. If you cannot put the time in try to avoid this class I did well and no surprises Teacher kept his promise. I got an A because of the curve.
This guy is the G.O.A.T. So laid back and understanding. Slightly unorganized, but he is so helpful. Presents the material in a way that is easy to comprehend. He is funny and caring.
Took for both STAT 515 and 516; both classes are very easy if you put in the effort. If you have taken a previous stats class, it makes these classes even easier. 515 focused on fundamentals while 516 was an extension of it plus more coding in R, although he gives you a lot of the code and you just have to run it / modify it. Great guy overall!
Dr. Q. is very kind and cares about his students. He will give you plenty of time to finish assignments so if you need an extension just ask. He is patient and not too tough a grader. Would definitely take him again!
Really great guy, his online lectures were videos of him and they were hard to understand due to recording issues/ his accent. Responds to emails and is very understanding let me turn in late work
Quite frankly: the most wholesome professor I have ever had. Made waking up early on Monday mornings bearable. Genuinely cared about all of his students, and wants everyone to succeed. Material is presented in a very easy and understandable way, and after that he is also an easy grader. DEFINITELY take him!
Didn't go to class or watch online lectures. Only studied the day before the exams and did the homework with online help. Ended with a C. Probably could've gotten an A if i went to class.
I took the online course where lecture videos were uploaded. on the 1st day he told us that 96% of his students get A's. you will have to take the exams on campus but you can have a full sheet of notes front and back. hw comes from the textbook but he posts screenshots of the pages you need. slow but forgiving grader. 2 exams and 12 hw.
Makes stat class easy. HW is based off of his R code. However, he is slow on grading the HW and posting the notes. In one case, the notes were posted after class started. While syllabus says there will be 6 or 7 quizzes, there is really no more than 2. Final is non-cumulative and you can use a cheat sheet on the exams.
For a online class this was pretty good. His lectures are recorded and you can see his outline notes being written. I really like the fact he doesn't read power points. Notes are sufficient to make it through this class. R was a pain however he made extra videos with R. Pretty responsive with email responded within 24 hours. Good class to take.
Prof. Quasem is the nicest professor. He is always willing to give extensions and the notes are very understandable. He is a bit slow to grade, but he's super helpful and makes statistics almost second nature. Would definitely take again.
Q is awesome. Really flexible and willing to help students. For a summer course he really made it friendly and easy to make a good grade. I wish he was teaching 516 in summer too.
If you get a chance to take professor Quasem, you absolutely should! He is incredible!
This is a STAT, why the heck do we have full on scholarly essays with an abstract and a bunch of unrelated to STAT material? All the tests have NO multiple chose and a 50 minute timer. He grades harshly and even if he takes points off he may not give you a reason why. To top it off, he makes plenty of mistakes in class that he never picks up.
He is a really nice professor and always wants to help out. Notes are easy to follow and exams are just like the sample exams he gives you to study.
He's a pretty good teacher and if you ask him to explain anything he is willing to help. There are four exams and he lets you use a formula sheet on each exam and write down notes on the sheet to use during the exam. If everyone does terrible on an exam he lets you do test corrections for extra credit. Really approachable and nice man. recommend
We dont deserve this man. He is an angel. You have 3 exams and he drops one exam. He said for the final if you do really bad I wont let it affect your grade LIKE WHAT. Exams are exact same as review he gives. He takes attendence everyday but if you miss too many he wont let it affect your grade. We need more professors like him. TAKE HIM!!!!!
He rarely responds to emails and does not do anything to help you out. He was 30 minutes late to our final exam and the exam had so many errors on it that it was tough to understand. The exams are very ambiguous and it's often difficult to understand what he is asking of you.
Great professor. I wish all my professors were as kind and understanding as Q. Keep up the great job professor.
He's terrible. Doesn't respond to emails, doesn't explain things well at all, just a lazy guy.
Love this awesome professor so accommodating and kind. Only lazy people cannot make it in his class. He is helpful and responsive. He extended all assignments for me to catch up. Always responds to emails that I sent him. I give this professor an A for being the best teacher I ever had in statistics.
Take Quasem! One of the best professors I have had and I felt like I learned a lot in his class. All his lectures are online but going to class helped me personally. His tests are similar to the practice he gives, and no new tricks are added. He isn't super fast on email responses, but visit him during office hours for homework, questions, etc.
So it is not a hard professor but it was not helpful. I would email him questions and he would rarely respond. I set up office hours and he did not show up on time. His online videos don't make much sense and when you ask for help he tells you to re-watch them :/
if you have to take stat 205, take Quasem. He's so nice and the class is an easy A
Prof Q is probably the only teacher that teaches this course and it's an easy A but his class is a pain. He wont respond to emails and doesn't really help when you need him. Keeps pushing back due dates randomly and won't give back grades until the very end of the semester. Take him if you want its easy but he may be the worst teacher for the class
Do not take quasem during COVID. Doesnt respond to emails, even if youre asking for help, didnt pose our final exam on the day he said he would, and didnt have grades in until last possible moment so you have no idea what your grade is the whole semester. Lecture videos are from a few years ago, just shows he puts no effort into is class.
Q is the Man dude. He was available for all virtual office hours. I got help on every homework. He does have a lot of students but always prompt with email and response. Most of my friends got A's and I would definitely recommend.
Its an easy A, but probably one of the most frustrating classes every. Lectures are pre-recorded, old and boring. Grades are put in the last week of the semester, and you usually have a 50/50 shot of getting an email response. If you wanna learn nothing, be bored, and get an A take Q.
an easyish A for the class. since almost everything transferred to online we had prerecorded videos to watch and take notes on, easy quizzes on the material and tests were too. Q was a good teacher, hard to understand sometimes but he tries his best
He was so unorganized with my class. When we tried to email him, he would never respond, and he went ghost on our class for a whole week (did it twice) and the next week gave us so much work to do with no extended time. When I asked him for more time (since I had no clue what I was doing) and he said no but he was the reason we were so behind.
The class started out pretty good, but then he decided to go MIA for two weeks and then drop 10 assignments on us, all due within a week and a half of each other. Easy to understand in his recorded lectures, the exams aren't too bad, but he takes forever to grade. He hasn't responded to a single email I've sent.
has not answered any emails the class has sent and did not put in any grades the whole semester. did not learn a thing
This is the worst professor I have ever had. He does not respond to emails, he does not grade homework until the semester is over, he does not give feedback. He is so far off the syllabus it is not even worth looking at. He is completely silent and then randomly puts up like 14 assignments at once. He is such a bad professor and annoying person
as others have said, went MIA after two weeks. barely responds to emails. follow along with the videos (from 2018) and you'll get it, but if you need guidance outside of that, good luck. probably will end up with an A, but don't know because he has not put in grades yet.
Don't take Q during COVID. He is a nice guy, but never responds to emails, is completely unorganized and unavailable. He hasn't graded homework for 4 months so you won't have any clue what your grade is. Reuses his lectures from 2018. You're better off teaching yourself.
Open book test, hw extended if asked, very easy going and helps with hw during virtual office hours. Only slackers dont do well in this class.
This class was fine for being an online class, the quizzes were easy and the homeworks and tests weren't too bad, but this professor is soo unorganized and he has not graded a single one of our homeworks for the whole semester. He also had so many mistakes. Would avoid if possible but wasn't the absolute worst.
Professor Quasem is the man. Answered all my emails promptly. Always positive I got Covid so he gave me all opportunities. Open notes exams and quizzes who would complain. I am surprised at the comments. Lol. Easy A for me.
The worst professor I have ever had. We have one week left in the semester and I will not know my final grade because he has failed to grade anything. 80+ students in my group me have reported him to the department chair and everyone above him. RUN AWAY! The absolute worst. Take anyone but him TRUST ME. Made me lose my 4.0
I can not believe he has such a high rating on here. He is the worst professor I have ever had. He does not respond to emails, he goes MIA and then assigns 8 quizzes and 4 homeworks, he does not give feedback on hw, and so much more. Not to mention his syllabus, which we are 6 weeks off track from, is from 2018 along with his "lectures" (YouTube)
Yes he happened to very disorganized but he also had to grade over 400 students' work in an asynchronous class without a TA - he got screwed over. Go to his office hours-he'll help you with anything on the hw and might even give you bonus points. I've heard he's much better in person and he really cares.
Worst professor I have ever had in my entire life. Doesn't make any sense and does not care for his students at all. Literally no care in the world, waited a month to even tell us what the course is. Gives no direction and basically leaves you to teach the course to yourself. Also, he waited until a week left to put grades in and he loses homeworks
Best honors class I have taken. Very kind, encouraging and available outside office hours. Definitely give him a raise. Professor is in tuned with his students.
Awesome Prof he responds to emails promptly. Kind and caring. I would definitely tell all my friends to take him for Stat 201. He curves and easy A because I put in the work.
He gave us open book exams and a chance to add 100 points to our total points. If you cannot make an A in this class maybe school is not your best option. All my friends got an A. Easygoing and flexible always willing to extend deadlines.
Easy A class. I recommend highly. My cousin took him and my brother will take him too. Keep up the great job.
While he did make up for it in the end by offering extra credit, he was a little more than disorganized w/ lectures, due dates, & HW. We used a secondary program for HW & it was coding, slightly confusing & took research to understand. He was at least responsive to my emails, but I know it wasn't same case for classmates. May be better in person!
Professor Quasem is an amazing professor. He is very understanding of his students situations and genuinely cares. I took his class online and it was asynchronous but if you do the practice homeworks, the exams will come easy.
Great professor, met me on the weekend online to help me. Friendly and easy to get along. Also extended assignments and worked with my work schedule.
He will give nearly any student an A, so I think that is why a lot of students care for him. However, he was a terrible professor. As a class, we had many issues with the HW service and he did not respond to any emails for 6 days. All tests (including final) were posted at least 5 days later than he said. Class isn't hard, he isn't fit for online.
Dr. Quasem just gave us video lectures from a few years ago and said good luck. Homework every week. Not a bad class, but not really a class either.
Such a wonderful professor. He really cares about his students. He gives many opportunities. He gave my classmate time to recover from COVID and catch up. Project super easy he even helps with reviewing before submitting hw and Project. All around nice guy and always responds to email and texts. Keep up the great job Q and try to keep him USC.
If you are taking honors stat 205 TAKE PROF Q he is such a sweet man and cares so much about us actually learning stats instead of only focusing on our grades. Drops like half of the quizzes and 1 exam, homework can be redone for more credit, and he will take time in class to go over anything u have a question on. Cannot recommend more
Dr. Q is one of the best there are. He cares so much about the well-being of his students. He really just wants us to focus on learning statistics and not worry about our grade. He is more than willing to help any student with any issue. He drops a few quizzes and an exam and works with students on homework in class. Definitely take him if you can.
Professor Q genuinely cares about students. For the most part, he answered all emails and questions. Attendance isnt mandatory, but going to class really helps because he goes over material and homework during class time. His class isnt too difficult and I recommend him!
Hands down best professor at USC. Q is GOAT. Love him would take him again.
Professor Quasem is one of the most caring professors I've had. Unfortunately we had to switch online due to an illness, but he kept us up to date and posted lecture videos. There was a good bit of work especially with a lab, but Quasem made exams relatively easy.
I'm sorry but I don't like him, I had asynch lecture and in-person lab. Terrible at responding, his TAs do everything but only one of them is helpful with lab. If stats doesn't come naturally, he's not for you. MUST go to lab so that's annoying cause you have to physically turn in the assignment.
Q was a pretty great prof! He knows stats can be challenging and will help you in any way you need. I had no idea how to code and can do R fine because he tells you exactly what to do. A lot of assignments get dropped so it's not too difficult to get a good grade as long as you have good notes. I highly recommend him!
Professor Quasem was so unavailable for our class. Students would send multiple emails regarding questions, labs, tests, etc. and receive no reply. He would frequently forget to open tests up making students lose a whole day of testing. He was impossible to get a hold of and put the entire course on the backs of the TA's. An absolute nightmare.
He is such a chill professor. He makes sure you know the content and will push back deadlines if you need it.
Quasem is managable. This semester was rough because he had a health emergency and class was online for half the semester. For when he was here, he wasn't the best lecturer - he just kind of read off the slide. So you have to teach yourself a lot of the material but the class isn't that hard so its ok. For a required 200 level class, you'll be fine
While Prof Q was very attentive and caring for his students, I wouldn't say he is a great prof. He was absent for over half the semester due to personal reasons, so it was very hard to learn/understand what we were supposed to be doing. He was extremely cooperative and pushed back deadlines and offered extra credit. It was challenging at times.
Professor Quasem is very caring towards his students and is willing to go above and beyond to help. He provides more than enough resources already, but if you need extra help or time, he understands. I would recommend him to anyone and take him again if I could.
He is unable to teach and function as a person. He doesnt respond to emails, contradicts himself constantly, and grades slowly. The online lectures are useless, honestly its not worth it to wake up when he reads directly from the slides. I pity anyone that would have to take him. He is hours, if not days, late in posting any kind of material.
No real complaints, communicated mostly via email. I like the formatting of the hybrid scheduling for a few weeks and the TA was always so helpful and kind. I felt a greater connection with the TA and he explained a lot or assisted at a great impact. Pearson is used but course content is easy, purchase the text but you also really don't have to.
The course itself is very easy. His lectures are pretty detailed and his exams are open notes. There is no way you can fail his class. It is an easy A. The only problem was that the professor would never stick to the study guide and would change the due dates often without informing he students. He was very disorganized.
Great guy. Tests are almost identical to sample tests, plenty of extra credit with minimal effort in this class needed
nice guy but class was listed as in person and he made it online due to health issues he has known about for a while. no TA or SI to my knowledge and he is hard to understand if you don't have stats experience. gives sample exams and tries to make himself very available to students for help. I struggled a lot but ended up fine
He made an in-person class online without notice, and he gives notoriously irrelevant responses to emails, sometimes taking days to respond. However, the exams are the same concepts with different numbers from the practice exams, and the final exam was literally just a subset of questions from the practice final exam, so the class is rarely hard.
While I like the online format, Prof was often days late in posting things such as exams or communicating when due dates were changed. In lab section pre-lab was usually not posted until an hour before the lab, when syllabus says 24 h in advance. Ok class to get math credit out of way but prof is not easy to reach. HW every few weeks/monthly exam.
This professor is a goat. He only gave 10 homeworks all semester. The homework's are multiple choice and you get multiple attempts on them. You can find some of the homework questions online as well as most of the exam questions. His schedule isn't always perfect, but you will get an A guaranteed. 10/10 recommend.
