I had him for physics lab and he's great! He really tries to help you. He let me hand in my lab report late every time and he really helped me understand what I needed to do for each report when I was confused. The midtermfinal were super easy too.
I took him for PHY 124, which is not my strong suit. He keeps everybody actively participating, which helped to pay attention. He gives a good amount of partial credit on homework and tests. He is very intelligent and does a pretty good job of conveying information to his students. I expected a C, but managed a B. Definitely take him!
Horrible professor! If I could give him zeros I would. Very tough grader, awkwardly calls on students for answers and most importantly he has no concept of time. Our lab is scheduled for 2 hours and we go quite over time frequently. If you ask a question, he will confuse you even more than just directly answer it.
Professor Nigam is the best physics professor at Middlesex. I took him for lab, had no idea what i was doing and managed a B+. Nigam is a super easy grader, as long as you complete the lab reports your bound to do well.
Professor Nigam is one of the worst teachers I have encountered in my life. Don't get me wrong, he is a genuinely good person and it he cares about how his students do. However he does absolutely terrible job at explaining even the simplest concepts. If you ask him a question, he will confuse you even more. Be prepared to learn on your own.
I have never seen any professor like Dr. Nigam. He can explain theory very well, but he doesn't solve any book problems in class nor give answers to you for even numbers. He solved only book examples in class with lot of confusions. If you never took any physics class before then you shouldn't take him, no matter what.
You shouldn't take him even if he is only choice because it's worth to wait rather than taking him. If you take him then get ready to study on your own, homework problems for your own and you will never know the real answers of problems and quizzes back.
His lab class is alright, but AVOID his lecture class at all cost of you care about your GPA. You won't learn anything and fail hide tests
Professor Nigam is someone who can explain theory very nicely but had hard time solving book problems. I was worried that I won't pass the class but result was full of surprise B+ which is great. The way he graded test scores was very fair; he gave out point if you draw body diagrams of problems, etc. Overall, I had fun.
Awesome professor
Professor Nigam is a very good lab professor. He is very clear with his grading criteria. If you attend all of the labs and complete the lab reports based on his outline you will pass. The exams are difficult but most of the concepts are from the lecture portion. Very understanding and wants you to succeed. Overall awesome teacher!
Here's the thing. He is actually pretty good and I find him funny. He cares for his students and if you are having a hard time just go and talk to him and he ll take care of you. Overall he is a cool professor. As far as the tests are concerned. Do the homework problems and you ll be prepared for the test. Tests are mostly Multiple Choice.
Dr Mohit Nigam is a very good person plus he is very hilarious in the class, he respects students and takes good care of them. Other students are complaining about homework and not getting answers to the questions but in reality you can go to his office and get the solution to the problem you don't understand, he is a fair grader. Would take him
Had him for PHY 3 lab. He decided to not give exams which was nice. Make sure you show up to lab every week and submit reports on time. He is very understanding and wants students to pass. He treats students like they would get treated in the real world at a job (properly submitting things, turning things in on time, etc) which was nice.
First of all let me tell you. If you get bad grades on his tests don't worry. Don't drop the class or get stressed. I had an average of 11-12 out of 20 in all of his tests. His tests are actually pretty tough the class average was 12 and highest was 17. Just turn in your HW , he gives full credit on that. Do good in Final and he inflates your GRADE
He has very clear grading criteria, and it's so hard to find someone like him. You may feel to drop his class for various reasons, BUT don't worry. You'll pass with B or B+ at least if you do homework, and try your best in tests, and final. He'll make this class easy for you. & He won't let you a fall sleep. Take HIM.
This professor is one of the nicest professor I've seen so far. He treats his students like friends. He is energetic and always happy. You will get bad grades in his tests like the majority of the class. But don't worry. He boosts your grade if you do Hw and show effort . TAKE HIM
A very good professor. He gives you homeworks, and tests are based on your homeworks. You have to work hard to fail his class. Minimum grade of his class is B. Everyone passed his class.
He is awesome. He explains theories very well. Tests are easy, and he curved grades in the last. Easy A.
Labs are hard but he's an incredibly lenient grader. He'll give you half credit on each exam question if you show your work/explain your thought process (provided it makes sense!). He gave a really good curve too. Do yourself a favor and take a physics lab class with him, you won't regret it.
Class itself is pretty easy to pass. Very lenient with partial credit. Pay attention and do the HW and you'll be fine. I'm very glad that I took physics II with professor Nigam here at MCC instead of rutgers.
The lectures are heavy but exams are really easy. Class attendance will help understand the material. He gives examples for practical uses of abstract concepts. Class mood is usually very light.
He is a very friendly guy. Physics 2 is a tough subject but he does a good job in explaining the concepts. Sometimes, it becomes boring but I don't blame him. I kind of disliked that he rushed through the latter part of the syllabus. Otherwise, it was fun interacting with him.
Difficult, can sometimes run off on a tangent but will always make sure all of his students are keeping up with his faced paced and difficult lectures.
Awesome professor! Easy to understand and makes physics very fun!
I took him for my physics 2 class lecture. He was awesome. Test were easy from the homework. Multiple choice questions and couple of questions were actual problem. I thought I was failing the class but I got B+. I recommend you to take it. He will ask you random question whole teaching but no worries it's his habit. Go to class. Better then others
terrible
great professor! Take him!Youll get an 11/20 or 12/20 on all of his tests, But thats the class average and dont drop him. He grades you based on the amount or effort and participation you put in the class. Im pretty sure everyone passed with a C or better. He will make sure you pass his class, and hes a lenient grader on tests!
not the worst professor I've taken, but wouldn't take again if I had a choice. His exams were really difficult but if you showed your thought process and it was correct, he gave partial credit. If you show you're trying your final grade will be a C at worst so if you just need this class to transfer and a good grade doesn't matter, this is for you
I took him for Physics 2 in the summer. He goes a bit a fast but at the same time makes sure you understand the material. His exams are similar to the hw problems. He gives you partial credit if you showed some work.
Best physics professor at the school without a doubt. Dr. Nigam isnt a powerpoints guy, he genuinely knows how to teach physics without just giving some formula and plugging it in. He makes sure you know how to think for the problems. Tests arent awful class average is around 13/20 and HWs are very helpful. Show effort get a C or better
About 3/4 exams are given plus a final exam, which are your core grades for passing the course. Quizzes are from calling on you when doing textbook problems, but should be an easy A as long as you have an idea of the problem. DO THE BOOK PROBLEMS AND KNOW HOW TO SOLVE. Prof Nigam is a kind, caring professor, just don't pull any sneakiness.
Amazing professor. He keeps you engaged and he's very funny. Tough class but his exams are fair & he gives tons of partial credit. The dept. final is what screws most ppl over I feel. Nigam goes over tons of problems in class and as long as you practice, you'll pass his lecture exams at least. Highly recommend for physics.
He makes everything so hard to understand. Do not take him
Not a very good professor doesnt really teach well and just keeps on talking and talking without explaining. He just wants to get things done before the class ends and rushes everything so if youre actually trying to learn and do good DONT take him
He wasnt a very helpful professor and just threw everything at you expecting you to know everything from the beginning. I wish I took physics with another professor he was no good
horrible. he goes at a extremely fast pace and doesnt really care for questions
Wasted my time and money on his class do not take him
As a Person he is very nice, but as a teacher I'd prefer not to have him again because he gets confused at times when teaching and would also confuse other students. However, his lab is great even though the teaching part can get confusing.
If you want to learn physics do not take him. He teaches the problems wrong and the methods are very confusing when he teaches, but the textbook helps you more and its easy to understand. He doesn't really grade your hw's as he says that everything gets messed up as he is grading you. We dont know our grade until the midterms & finals.
He makes the class more confusing than it should be. He tends to confuse himself while he is teaching and goes very fast which doesnt make things any better. There is a ton of homework and you wont know your grade the entire semester until it is posted online after the final exam which gives you no idea of how youre actually doing in the class.
If youre actually trying to learn physics DO NOT take him he will skim through the semester without even properly explaining anything
Horrible!!! Save yourself from the headache he doesnt explain the material in a way we can learn and is super confusing !!
He is the absolute worse and has no teaching skills at all ! Save yourself from the nightmare
Took him for the spring semester he is very hard to understand and moves at a very fast pace and doesnt care to slow down. There are other physics professors who will teach you in a way that you can follow and understand clearly but just not him.
This is already a hard class but he doesnt make it any easier if anything he makes it much harder. The homework will help you but other than that youre on your own
HORRIBLE absolutely terrible do not take him
Straight up one of the worst physics professors out there. Dont waste your time
He is very caring and makes sure you know hes available for office hours. That being said, I would not take him again. He goes at a very fast pace and is always all over the place with his lectures. Maybe the fact that it is online isnt helping much.
He is such an easy professor to work with. Very considerate and really wants his students to learn. Sometimes its difficult to learn hard concepts but you can tell he really tries his best and is always willing to help you however he can.
The professor is a nice guy and caring. With that said he will be lenient and understanding if you are having difficulty, and physics is definitely difficult. His lectures are okay but they will be all over the place and hard to learn from, so you need to teach yourself by reading the textbook, and doing problems on your own. Be prepared to work!
DO NOT TAKE. NO GOOD. He easily gets lost in his own lectures and goes so far on his tangents that he can't get back to what he is teaching. He tries to go over problems, but solves them wrong or doesn't solve them at all. He then says he will send the solution and how to solve the problem via email, but NEVER does. NEVER responds back to emails.
This guys is beyond worse professor. Tries cheap jokes. Only he laughs at his jokes. He gets lost in the middle of the lecture. He has weirdo personality. His exams are completely different than what he teaches on lecture. Stay away from this weirdo. Horrible professor. Take other professor if you can.
Not a good professor to take. He is a nice person, but overall a horrible teacher, gets confused with the work he is doing, tries to rush the class and does not explain it well. Tests are not like the homework. A lot of homework, heavy test, and long classes. Would not recommend you take this professor
I'm taking him right now for lab. it is too easy. as long as you do your work, you will get A. for the lab reports, he doesn't look for everything. only some specific tables and graphs. that's bout it.
He is a very good and easy LAB professor. literally easy A.
He is not bad. You will get good grades as long as you do your cengage assignments. but im pretty sure nobody likes his weird jokes lol
it was great taking this class . definitely I will take it again. he is very caring and professional at the same time.
I'll take him over and over and over again. He is such a easy professor
TAKE HIS COURSE. HE WILL PASS YOU IF YOU SHOW YOU TRIED
I do not suggest him !!!
First day in class and already lost. He spent so much time just running around leaving his cam on. Then started speaking so fast and with his accent it was so hard to comprehend anything. I was so excited for physics but he already ruined it. Hope I can drop out soon.
Do not trust this professor on the test. Do not trust his formula sheet. He teaches better than any other professor. You need to buy a book, which is quite expensive. Explains extremely fast like a Japanese Bullet train. Need to do lot at home.
Seems like he has lots of negative reviews about his lecture class. I can not judge on that because I took him for lab only. You don't have to do or show lot of work in the lab, just few specific. You don't even have to write lab report on Microsoft word. literally on the lab guide, you just need to write numbers and answers. you will get 100.
Does not come prepared to class. Does not make his own homework. Does not quiz. Therefore is not aware of what his students know - and his tests reflect this. Will waste most of lecture doing literally nothing. His idea of teaching is writing the equations on the board and expecting you to understand. You will not learn during his lectures. Avoid
Awesome guy! Hindi speaking students JOIN! Hella fun! Lecture is kinda heavy but you'll get the hang of it. Make sure to keep up with the homework. He ends up curving the grade but you still have to do good on the in-semester exams. Total 4 total in-semester tests, lowest grade is dropped. I used chegg and chatgpt for the homework :)) Good luck!
If you practice the problems, it would be easy. He would do everything he can.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Tests are based on the homework, so be sure you practice homework problems, and you will be fine.
The course is very difficult and his style of teaching, personally, wasn't the best. However he clearly cares and will do what he can to help you pass. He's more than willing to help you out and provides very clear and easy to find material for the chapter. Be ready to study and pay attention, but have fun while doing it. He has a fun personality.
Professor Nigam is a very caring man, he genuinely cares about his students. He will give you the grade if he sees you are trying. That being said, the class itself is definitely challenging. Lectures are more on the theoretical side, so to prepare read/brief the textbook lesson, try a couple of problems before hand. Recommended!
The easiest lab prof. at MC, because you don't need to write anything in a Word document. At the beginning of each class, he hands out a lab instruction sheet. You simply write your answers in that sheet as you complete the lab (basically you're done), and he's always available to help if needed.
Fun, engaging, entertaining lectures. Easy to get good grade, just understand how to use the formula sheet. for lab he is also an easy A. More than just an easy A he is caring and funny. Cannot reccomend him enough. If you give a negative review, I am judging you and your intelligence tbh
I took both his lecture and lab course. I will say that he was very understanding of my learning disability but he just shows the equations and not how to actually solve the real problems he goes on rants about things that have nothing to do with class and he spent a good 40 minutes teaching the class how to tie a noose "just in case". DONT TAKE!
He is a caring teacher, I will fully give him credit for that, but it was just incredibly difficult to learn in his class. He is very frantic during lectures, often just writing equations down on the board and counting that as covering entire chapters with no real explanation of how they interact with each other or the reasonings behind them.
Unlike the lecture, I would gladly take him again for the lab. Entire grade is lab-based, no tests or written reports, so as long as you show up, participate, and turn in on time, it's very easy to get an A. He is very strict on rules, though. Immediate 0 if you violate dresscode or don't show up. and turning in a lab even a day late is half credit
don't take his class he never going to pass you if you pass his class, he makes you fool and gives you bad grades just like me I have an A grade, and last day of class wanted to take revenge so he just changed my grade to a D so never trust this professor.
if you want to pass he is you proffesor to go to
He's a love-him-or-hate-him type of professor. I turned out to love his class, but be ready for strict rules on participation and behavior—no hoodies, no dozing, and expect to be called on occasionally. The material is tough, but he explains well, is very engaging, and grades exams fairly. Show effort, and he'll help you succeed.
The professor is best when you want to understand class his pase is fast but you can catch up if you study home. also he is chill and if you nice to him he is also (don't make him anger.) he teaches will if don't understand go to extra class he is super helpful. if bad at phy and don't want to learn he is not the one but if want to learn go for it
He is extremely enthusiastic about higher-level physics, with a deep understanding of physics and theory that comes second nature to him, combined with an ability to draw accurate visuals its a pleasure taking his class. That being said, you do need to stop if he starts breathing physics.
The best professor ever. he is very helpful and respectful he spends a lot of time to just help students after class he stays with you for hours also helps in your grading, so you don't fail. You have to study, and you will pass the class easily. His exams are easy and comes from the homework formula sheet is clear and arranged in very good way.
I started this class scared and unsure but he made this complex course easier to understand. He explained topics very thoroughly with real life examples and demonstrations. He answered all questions clearly and stayed after class if we needed extra help. He's a really caring professor, I recommend him 100%. I now love physics after taking his class
