One of the best teachers I've ever had. Made me love the subject. Tied the world and our lives into the economics so it was never boring. The class was challenging but not too hard. Willing to bend over backward to help students out.
Excellent Professor!!!!
He's great! He will make the subject appeal to you no matter what you think of it - thats a gift! Very sincere and genuinely interested to see you succeed; if only the department had more Professors like him!
Great Professor. Very interesting
Great professor!! He always used current events and tied them into the world of economics. He was always willing to help and scheduled convenient office hours and review sessions. Genuine professor....highly recommended. =)
Without a doubt the best teacher at temple. If you have the chance, take his class!
Buy 2 notebooks for this class, you will use them both . He is very clear, and gets points across well. Will meet you any time to help with any issues. Know your stuff for his exams, they are hard. Very reasonable, fair, and one of the nicest teachers I have come across at Temple, which is a rarity.
Extremely interesting and well-organized and his notes are easy to understand as he explains complex ideas in everyday terms. He's also compassionate about everyone and if you take his class he will know you as a person rather than just a name on the class list. Also, visit him in his office!
Awesome professor...even though I did horrible in the mid-term, he encouraged and motivated me that I could do better. And I aced the final, ended with B+. One of the best professors I had at Temple.
He is the best Econ faculty that Temple has to offer. I hope he decides to stay. He explains the material in depth with concise and precise approach. AWESOME...
By far one of the best professors I have ever had. He really cares about teaching, and you can tell because he is passionate about everything he talks about. It is a very difficult class, however, you will definitely learn a lot from him. He teaches using a lot of analysis, but that is what makes him so good.
he is a good teacher and he loves to teach. If you like to learn and understand how econ works, then he is a plus to take. however, what most people forget to tell you is exams can be tricky with wording and is difficult. he expects you to study even harder outside of class. If you're looking a prof just to get by with, he is not the one you want.
This guy is hard as hell. I failed the first test worked my butt off for the final...got a b+ in the class...go to office hours to show you care...hard but you will learn...my god will you learn
He is a wonderful teacher and such a nice man, however, it's a hard class, you have to study hard and he's VERY helpful but doesn't bend on his word or curve. I learned a lot and am studying now for his final, tests are hard!
Dr. Fardmanesh, as opposed to some other professors at Temple, actually *teaches*. Don't take this class if you're looking for an easy A. DO take him if you want a great instructor, who's very easy to follow and is a very nice person as well. This guy made us work hard, but I enjoyed every second of it. I really gained something in his class.
avoid this guy. he loves himself too much to teach. i learned nothing about economics, and a bunch of nonsense about "how you are supposed to think." do not listen to these other reviews, he's terrible
This guy is the guy to take if you wanna learn. Anyone who say's he's hard is dillusional. They say there isn't a curve in his class, but his grading systme IS THE CURVE! Anything from 59-66 is a C in his class. There's nothing wrong with having to use your brain on an exam. EVERYTHING he teaches is on the exam, EVERYTHING!
Great Professor! His passion for Economics is contagious. He is very respectful of all students and questions. Dr. Fardmanesh is the best professor I have ever had.
Very respectful instructor! Give students help as much as he can, even a person with little knowledges of Macro and Micro can understand his material. Overall, it's not a easy class not a hard class either,C'mon it's a 200 level class but he make it so interesting. Definely take him 251 or 250!
He's a great teacher. His final had stuff that he never covered in class, but otherwise he's basically better than any other prof. I've had at Temple. You should take him. The class isn't all that easy, though.
Great professor. Made the course very interesting, was always willing to help. I asked a question during the final and he even pointed out a mistake I had made. Course was tough but he's very generous with partial credit. Be sure to do all the reading and problems.
Best professor at Temple! Dr. Fardmanesh genuinely cares that you learn and understand. He gives great examples from the current economics situation and makes you interested in Econ. Great guy too, very professional, respectful and understanding! The course requires a lot of reading and hard work, but the classes are also a lot of fun.
Do not recommend. Very unclear. Exams are hard not because of the material, but because the teacher requires more than he actually explains. 50% of class failed the exam. No review before exams.
He's a nice prof for sure, but he doesn't explain things in class very well, and the tests would have been fine if we were prepared, but he makes you do problems on the test you never went over in class or homework. at least half the class got less than 50% on the midterm, and the final is 55% of the grade..good luck trying to pass this one.
While I had to devote much time to this class it was by far the best class I have had in my collegiate career. Note to all, this is a real college class (no reviews, doesn't tell you whats on the exams, everything is fair game) Classes are very interesting to attend. Do not take this class if you tend not to work hard.
This guy is awesome. His classes is complicated, in terms of the concepts, but he makes learning them really interesting. He's like half philo. half econ professor. He is incredibly intelligent and shares his life experiences with the class. He never makes you feel stupid. It is a lot of work so don't take him if you are lazy.
I'll make it simple... If you're in college to learn and if you're willing to study this professor is your best bet. But if you're looking to get an easy A with minimal effort, find someone else. He's the best professor I've had in my college years. He's very intelligent and ties everything around you to econ. He's the greatest asset to Temple.
one of the best teachers ever
He is one of the best profs I have ever had. I came in with little or no interest in economics and now I am convert. If you willing to put in the work you will definitely walk away with your basics clear from his class.
The best professor ever, you will learn more than you expect. Do not take him if you want an easy A.
A great Econ professor. His teaching approach is focusing on the concepts and application. If you are not good at applying economic concepts discussed in class, it maybe challenging. I enjoyed the discussions and every class. Highly recommended.
Dr. Fardmanesh was the best professor I had at Temple. He is passionate, challenging, and committed to all of his students. Don't take his class if you're not going to try; you will fail if that's the case. Take his class if you want to actually LEARN something. I still apply concepts I learned from his class in my own professional life.
Took Macroeconomics. Very good professor who I would recommend to anyone with an OK work ethic. Encourages deep, critical thinking and is always dishing out advice. His tests and quizzes seem pretty challenging, but he is actually a pretty fair grader and only wants to see you learn and succeed. Attendance is mandatory.
Dr. Fardmanesh is a great professor who wants you to learn. If you enter his class thinking you will skate by, you are terribly wrong. The material is difficult but he wants to make sure you understand it. If you won't put in the work you will not do well. This is not a memorization class, so make sure you REALLY study! Great man!
Professor Fardmanesh is an amazing professor. He is probably the best (or at least top 3) professor I've ever had at Temple. You will learn a ton. One word of advice: DO NOT BOTHER READING THE TEXT - his exam are basically based entirely on his notes. You will need the text for the key terms quiz, though. TAKE HIM!
Really great professor. Adds a lot to the classroom with viewpoints on politics and the real world. Be prepared for a difficult semester. Hint: tackle the memorization of the key terms in portions. The last key terms quiz had 72 terms. Quizzes aren't hard, it's just a commitment to memorize all the terms.
The material is very tough and it is imperative that you attend every class. The information builds from previous lectures. Prof. Fardmanesh is very helpful as well as insightful, go to his office and he is willing to discuss all matters from economics to food. You have to put forth effort for this class, but you will learn regardless.
I can't talk him up enough! I truly came to love Professor Fardmanesh, he is so dedicated to supporting his students and genuinely cares that you do well. The almost weekly homework can be time consuming, but completing them and understanding the work is incredibly satisfying. Tests were on the 'tough' end, but he's genuinely a very fair grader
He legit cares that you do well. Put in the effort, he'll notice. Visit his office hrs, he will literally sit with you for as long as it takes until you get it, no rush! Homework requires some time, but you get the hang of it, so it gets better. Tests were part theoretical concepts (qualitative), and part calculations (quantitative), a FAIR grader
Take him, take him, take him! You will leave his class the better for it. He will go out of his way, and then some, to clarify questions. Go to his office hours, incredibly useful. Tests are part definitions/concepts and part calculations -- for each test problem, he awards HEFTY partial credit, EVEN if the end result is incorrect. Wonderful man.
Not enough I can say about my homie Fardmanesh. Truly one of the best men I have ever met. Any of his classes will be the most beneficial contributions to yourself. Not that his class is hard but it is tough because he requires you to think instead of just memorize which is real education. I honestly hate school but I took both his courses.
Professor Fardmanesh is one of the best professor's at Temple. He really wants you to do well. Go to his office hours, he will explain topics until you finally get it. The material is fairly difficult and analytical. He wants everybody to understand the material, and not just memorize for a test. His class will make you a better thinker.
Best professor Ive ever had hands down
Amazing professor. Not an easy class, definitely need to attend all classes, but that's not for the heck of it - the material requires it. Sets clear expectations that are hard but can be met. Incredibly helpful one on one; will never let you leave not understanding. Would recommend to anyone wanting to really learn.
He is really helpful!! I have never seen a professor who are helpful like him! Go to his office! He explains until you understand fully! This is definitely not an easy class. You should be a good thinker
Best Professor I have had at Temple. Will seem impossible the first few weeks but if you put the work in you'll get the grade. You are not only paying for a great class but he is literally the most caring professor I have ever had. It's a dry topic but he makes it interesting by tying in life lessons and corny jokes.
You'll either really like him or hate him. His lectures go off topic more than I would like, especially when he complains about how he isn't given enough time to teach all the content. If you are late he will give you a hard time. Lots of people find him inspirational, but if you are remotely cynical, his personality will annoy you A LOT.
Professor Fardmadesh is a very accessible and caring professor However, Do not take this man if you want any easy grade. He makes the class AS difficult as possible and provides no study tools. Good guy, but if you are looking for an easy A or B PLEASE do not take him you will struggle mightily. Only take if you are very invested in economics.
Dr. Fardmanesh is very caring, he really does want you to do well. Although it is very lecture heavy, he makes them somewhat entertaining. This was a very difficult class for me. There are only 4 things you are graded on, hw assignments, attendance, and 2 tests. The tests are very hard and he gives no study material at all to prepare you, beware
Prof doesnt use powerpoints or expect you to memorize for tests. He wants you to understand the concepts enough to apply in different scenarios. Prof. is accessible but will not spoon-feed answers, critical thinking is essential. 3hrs/week study if you want B+. Class is not a walk in the park but you will learn, my God, will you learn. Great prof!
Fardmanesh was a good professor. He tends to go off on tangents a lot in class which makes paying attention a struggle but if you read the textbook, take good notes and study a lot, you will do fine.
Professor Fardmanesh prides himself on his 'old school' teaching methods. Its lecture heavy and he does not use technology. Yes this class is kind of hard, but I promise you, you will learn Macroecon if you take his class. Plain and simple. He cares about his students, and makes himself very available during office hours.
Two tests - 20% midterm, 40%final. 20%key terms quizzes, 20% assignments. Prof. doesn't use technology and expects same of students in class. Class is analytical and will seem impossible at first but go to class, take good notes & study. Prof. is very accessible and wants you to succeed. No reviews, everything he teaches is fair game for exams!
Professor Fardmanesh is probably one of the most respected teachers at Temple's Economics department. You have to have good work ethic and be very disciplined to take this class. He comes off very tough the first few weeks to weed out the lazy students. The class gets easier over the semester. He is very approachable in his office hours.
I believe Dr. Fardmanesh is the greatest asset that Temple University has. He is the most honorable, caring, and intelligent person I have ever known. His class made me a better student, as well as a better person. You have to be willing to really work, not memorize, but I promise you it is worth it.
International Trade was a hard class no doubt (especially the final), but Fardmanesh is a fantastic teacher of the material himself. One of, if not my favorite professors at Temple. Take him!
Professor Fardmanesh is very passionate about what he teaches and it shows in his lectures and the way he conducts the class. If you listen well in class, read the textbook, and do the practice problems you will pass the course.
Toughest Econ class Ive taken at Temple. No easy points in this class, but a good grade is still possible if you put in the effort.
Professor Fardmanesh is brilliant and cares so much about economics. I really struggled in this course, and this will not be an easy grade by any means. If you're just taking macro to check it off the list, take another prof, I wish I had. BUT if you have a real interest in economics, this is a great class to take. YOU WILL LEARN!
Nice professor but would not take this class again if given the chance. Never reviews anything and flies through the material too fast. Doesn't go over the homework or help prepare for exams. Read the textbook on your own before class or it will be very confusing.
Goes through material rather quickly during lectures. However, if you go to his office hours, he will spend hours helping you understand the material. He genuinely cares about your success. I didn't use the textbook, except to clarify a few concepts. 25% of your grade is the midterm; 50%, the final; the rest, other assignments.
Solid professor choice & an excellent instructor. Good note-taking skills is a must; lectures are more useful than the book, which I opened the first month and never touched again. You should study regularly due to the sheer volume & detail of material; he recommends 4-6 hours/week, I went with 2-3 hours/week.
Please don't be fooled by the good reviews, please I'm begging you don't torture yourself. He likes taunting his unorthodox teaching methods. Good dude, but if I wanted a different way of learning, I wouldn't have gone to college anyways. We're here to get a degree to land a job, not to try to undo years of systemic learning in one semester!
I took him for a Macroeconomic online class this spring semester, and absolutely disliked him. He is extremely lecture heavy, makes everyone keep their cameras and audios on, and will call you out if you do something remotely distracting, like exit out a notification. He has a very specific online test set up and non stop talks during the test.
He rarely checks and responds to email, as he does not like technology. He does not display your grade on the portal, so you do not know your grade until the end of the semester. He speaks as if his class makes him entitled, and offhandedly undermines those that do not have the same thinking process as him.
Prof. Fardmanesh's class is HARD, but lord will you learn international monetary economics inside and out. Exams and bi-weekly homeworks go very in depth, you will need to study at least 4 hours per week and attend every lecture to get a good grade. He also makes an effort to get everyone's name and pronouns right, which I appreciated :)
Whole lotta cap out here, listen to these reviews and the high rating and you'll wonder why you'd ever trust this website again. The word of the day for this professor: God complex. I can't speak on how this class/professor is in person, but since he's continuing online for next year, all I can say is GGs if you take him
Dr. F is a great professor who knows economics very well. That being said, this class was EXTREMELY difficult. He expects that you put in 4- 6 hours of work each week outside of class in order to do well on the examps. Very lecture heavy and you need to go to class to understand the concepts. If you are looking for an easy A do not take his class!!
Professor F takes education very seriously. If you want an Ivy-quality course take this class. The amount of material you learn is remarkable. That being said this is not an easy A by any means. Prepare to take detailed notes. These will help tremendously on the exams (2) which make up the majority of your grade.
It is not easy summing up professor F. Here are the basics: Super smart and caring, you will learn a lot from him Unique style of teaching, not easily palatable for all Very prescriptive in his advice (his way is THE way) Class really isn't as hard as he says it is, read the book you'll be fine Attendance NOT mandatory Final exam = 50% of grade
Not an easy class and everyone expects it to be challenging though this professor made the class way more complicated than it needed to be. His exams are blue book with open ended questions with no guidance in how he wants the answers. No technology in the classroom and if you loose eye contact with him as he lectures he gets very offended.
erm idk how to describe this man but he is something.... i think prof fardmanesh is a well spoken person, and really knowledgeable, but... he can be a handful. if you take his class, be prepared to take a ivy league course. so get ready to study alot and make sure you can relate your application of it to the real world.
He will take you to the brain gym. This was the most intellectually stimulating class I took at Temple, but it was not an easy course. Missing a day of lectures will put you behind. All the material comes from in class and the textbook can be confusing. You are only graded on 4 things: 7 HWs (25%), Midterm (25%), Final (50%).
Heres the lay down on his class for Econ 1101. 1) No electronics EVER! 2) The key term quizzes are worth more than the homework and exam grades. 3) He teaches at an honor level so if you are a regular student be prepared for a lot of studying and unnecessary work. 4) If you miss one day, there is no class capture or anything to catch you up.
I really enjoyed this class and thought this professor did a good job. He is different than majority of the professors at Temple and really cares about his students. If taking this professor I recommend going to office hours and getting to know him.
Every single class, he felt the need to tell us how our lives are better because of him teaching us and how will thank him one day. There were points where I felt so frustrated that I had to resist the urge to walk out because he kept talking about himself. Also, there were students who seemed like they were constantly the butt of the joke.
He's not your typical professor. He wants to see you succeed, he doesnt put grades in canvas. He just gives a formula on how to calculate your grades yourself. There arent many assignments so do well on tests
He is very old fashioned with his ways. Do not be trapped by those saying he is good, 65 hw questions every week and grading for exams is very cherry picked. -1/10.
he is a great guy but this class is definitely difficult. he can be funny if you try and build that relationship. he talks a lot but i never really understand what he is saying. this is definitely an interesting course but extremely exam heavy and exams are all open ended. study a lot and take a ton of organized notes so you can reference them.
He's an amazing professor and will really change your mindset with school, anyone who rates him badly just didn't want to put in the work and probably did poorly. Would highly recommend one of my favorite classes so far.
If you have the option to take this man, whether its trade or principles. Take him. Will literally change your life. He's incredibly intelligent and his classes are difficult, but once you take his class, you change as a person. Not only as a academic, but the random life advice he drops is beautiful. He's literally pookie.
If you take his class as a freshman, beware! He will not pull punches! He will tell you like it is and that's that. There is no extra credit, and minimal assignments beyond homework or weekly quizzes, so make sure you lock in for exams. Show up to class as much as you can and make sure to really pay attention! he tends to ramble.
Probably the best class I've taken at Temple. 100% take this professor. especially if its an upper level class. He gives amazing advice and opinions on the world. Not only that but he makes a very difficult topic a little bit easier to learn through his lectures, and relates concepts to real world cases.
