brilliant teacher, the smartest and most talented person i have ever met! and he is such a genius...
He is not the best teacher in the world but he give extra creadit and he curve the grade. If you did all of your hw, the test should be fine. He just copy the test question right out of the book in another word he is lazy.
Great teacher, extremely smart and whitty, very talented and cultured individual, not an easy course if you don't put in your part, do the work and learn something!
Best teacher I have ever had. Very smart and knows what he's doing.

How come no one mention how lazy and horrible this teacher is? Does anybody know that he copies the test questions right from the textbook? He also copies the questions based on where the questions are. He will ONLY copy the questions if it's on the same page. Otherwise, copy and paste is too much w
HE IS A NICE TEACHER-YES PERSONALITY IS GOOD. AND IS CHARASMATIC. BUT LET ME TELL U THAT HE COULD SCREW YOUR gpa IN A MATTER OF A SEMESTER. HIS TESTS ARE 4-5 QUESTIONS EACH WORTH A LOT. SO U BETTER GET IT RIGHT OR ITS THE END OF U!! AS A SINCER FRIEND LET ME TELL U- DONT CONSIDER HIM.
Very nice guy with a lot of personality, but his explanations can be a bit lacking . . . he presupposes a lot of things. His class is fun and I enjoyed going, but expect to work pretty hard if you want that "A."
I actually really enjoyed going to class, and it ends up helping with tests. Tests are really hard. They're about 20 Qs each and can be tricky (but he grades on a curve). If you don't read the book you wont do well. Take advantage of all extra credit. He likes students that participate and ask questions.
wow, he classes are really hard. he's has a nice personality, but horrible teaching skills. taking his class was torture, boring and his handwriting sucks. he's really approchable, but not with changing test grades. his class is not a "GOOD IDEA?"

Don't take him you'll regret it!!!! Nice guy but terrible teaching skills.
Mohsen is a teacher for the serious learner. If you plan to work hard, his class will be easy for you. He knows what he's talking about. Dont' be one of those whiney twirps who argues with the teacher, he hates that. Spend plenty of time in the ISC and participate in class.
extremely nice guy but ridiculously hard class... if you want a reasonable grade.. take ANYONE else
I have all my physics classes-250,260 and 270 with him. I think he is the best and easiest physics teacher at CSM. I really got a lot help from him. More than that, he makes students, including me, to like this subject. Rightnow I'm admitted to UC Berkeley for Physics major. I want to say thank to Mohsen although he might never read this.
His teaching is questionable, but he's a great teacher. His classes are interesting, usually spending a whole period explaining new concepts. He's funny too, and thats important if you want to stay awake during a class. The tests are hard but overall the class was easy.
He is a very very nice taecher. you need to study, but he helps us alot. No HW, 5 tests drop the lowest one. plus 10% extra credit. in the final grade if the average is B, he will change it to A. this class is easy A, B.
easy grader compared to other physic teachers. easy tests compared to other physic teachers. somewhat hard to understand. uses method different from the book. i think he's about the easiest physics teacher at csm, but still very hard because ITS PHYSICS.
funny guy, great sense of humor. teaching isnt the best, but his tests are. only 5 tests all year (including final) and you can drop the lowest one. no HW, but it helps to do them. is always willing to help if you see him during his office hours. labs are easy, lab write ups are even easier.
He was a cool teacher in a very hard subject. Always take the pre-tests because they will help you in the real test. Take him.
Physics is hard, and students really need to work hard. If you're planning on taking this class, don't take too many units. I think you'll do fine with 12-14 units max. Janatpour is an average teacher compared with the others. He doesn't keep homework as part of the grade, which can be good and bad.
funny, nice and cool teacher. the bad thing is he doesn't go by the book but by the examples in his head. he goes off topic at times and doesn't like it when students takes notes. his teaching skills aren't great but he's nice in giving some extra points if you tried your best.
Janatpour made me realize that I shouldnt trust the reviews of other csm students. His class is fine. He is a great teacher, study hard and you will pass. Physics is a hard subject and people blame their incompetence at it on him. Final was hard, but class is curved. He always curves up, but if you have an 89 expect a B. I would recommend him
Brush up on your math skills. I felt like he cared about providing us with a solid understanding of physics. Do the hw, it helps. The best way to do well on tests is to take clear notes and study them. Curve is such that only 2 or maybe 3 out of 20-30 will get an A
Cool Professor that looks like Shawn Connery.
One of the best and most interesting profs I've ever had (even compared to UCD). You MUST understand the content to get a good grade. He gives many many examples to study from. If you're taking this class in the summer, he will extend lecture into lab time on all days without lab, so be prepared for a grueling 3.5-4 hrs of lecture most days.
He's a really entertaining guy with funny stories to tell. However, when it comes to learning the material, you're on your own. He assigns review questions from the book, but doesn't collect them, so no one does them = no motivation to read the chapters or do the work. But, he provides pre-tests for the upcoming exams
Funny guy. However, when it comes to learning the material, you're on your own. He assigns review questions from the book, but doesn't collect them, so no one does them = no motivation. Also, you can only miss 3 days before he starts lowering your grade. But, he provides pre-tests for the upcoming exams and a extra credit opp. Welcome to college
Nice Guy Bad at teaching. The concept of the class is difficult even if u attend class everyday and do the work you might not understand the concept.Janatpour teaches by giving examples and then telling you to do it. If you do something wrong he puts you on the spot. You print your work and doesnt apply to your tests. He tends to walk out the room..
He been doing physics for 32 years and if you put some effort whether you like him or not, you will at least learn something.
Really smart and nice professor, but the problem lies in that his lectures often go completely over his students heads. You'll need to use the book and other resources to learn this stuff on your own. Other than that his tests are very straight forward. Just be warned E&M is not easy.
Mohsen is a fun teacher. He wants his students to learn the material and tries to be helpful. But when he explains a problem he assumes you know certain key concepts like the back of your hand, and won't explain from the bottom up, leaving you behind. I'm an A student and even when getting clarification on problems I got a B in the class on a curve
Nice and funny guy but really bad at teaching. He expect you to know certain stuff on the back of your head when he is teaching. When asked a question he might looked down on you. He assigns homework from mastering physics but does not post a solution manual for it, so if you don't know how to do hw and got it of online you are screwed.
Hardest Class I've ever taken but Mohsen is a great teacher and extremely approachable. He really wants you to learn. He's extremely intellegent and has been doing physics for so long sometimes you need to remind him t slow down. Always willing to extend due dates if needed and finds time to help. Great teacher - FREAKIN hard subject.
If you do not understand Newton's First Law, you don't pass.
Mohsen is a great teacher! He's very funny and his jokes (sometimes a little blunt) are pretty genius. He does assign a lot of Mastering Physics but he extends if asked. Also, fair grader! Hard problems but doable if you go to lecture/lab. I barely read the book and just went to lecture! He also does a lot of practice problems and tells stories :)
Mohsen is the man. His examples in class are tough but if you understand them you'll be more than golden for the test. He is extremely patient with his students and he keeps class entertaining. The course is a hard course so the homework definitely helps although it does take a while. Know Newton's 1st laws or else you're DEAD.
Mohsen is a great guy. He really cares about his students. However I feel he can be a little unorganized and scattered. I'm a person who needs a clear, straight forward explanation on complex subjects like physics, and I found myself really struggling to keep up with him.
Janatpour is a pretty funny, really smart guy but in the terms of actually teaching, he's not the best professor. If you're good at algebra or have some prior physics experience, this class is going to be an easy pass but if you actually need to learn the material of Physics 150, I suggest going to skyline.
Outstanding instructor. He clearly has a commanding understanding of both his subject material and his audience. His examples are clear, relevant, and applicable as well as challenging. I like that he does hold students responsible to a "theoretical minimum" otherwise --- what is the point? This is probably one of the best courses I have ever had.
Best teacher I have ever seen. Super smart.
Super smart. Wants things done his way. Very hard grader. Great guy super funny
Never goes into details, always expect you to understand what he means. I feel like his target audience is "the perfect student" which not everyone is. 3 tests + final - drops the lowest test, but with only 3 tests, you have to make sure to do well. overall he is a hard professor and isn't worth the hassle.
Very tough grader. He teaches his lectures as if you completely understood the previous material and he skips a lot of steps. Honestly his teaching style is what throws most students off.
He is the best teacher of CSM. Do your homeworks, solve the examples he solved in the class again, and solve the practice test aaand get an A! He knows almost everything and his classes are REAAALLY inspirational. You can learn more than physics in his class.
One of the smartest teachers I've ever seen. Good scientist but bad teacher. Likes to skip steps and assumes that you know the material well. Likes to give unpredictable questions. He gives extra practice problems if you need it. Take this if you're a fast learner or retaking calc 2 and might know the material pretty well.
Mohsen is the smartest professor I have ever had at CSM . He treated the class like we were all super smart just like him. This made the class super difficult. He is funny and always has jokes to tell the class. He teaches the content well but expects you to understand it after one try.
He has a rich knowledge of mathematics. Hence, he teaches the class without using any notes/powerpoint. You will have a firm understanding of the material in his class. However, his tests can be challenging. I recommend doing the problems in the textbook in addition to doing the online homework. You'll get a better result in the end!
He teaches really well. However, he is a pretty hard teacher.
He is funny and clearly very intelligent, but he is not a good teacher. The homework is very easy, but the tests are incredibly difficult. He is not good at explaining complicated concepts, and gets sidetracked a lot.
He comes off at the beginning as a good teacher, but quickly devolves & is terrible at best. Each test is 20% so each time it's like taking a final. When you need help he is anything but clear. DON'T TRUST STUDY GUIDES, they are of little help in preparation for the actual test. He seems to have no problem watching the entire class fail. AVOID HIM!
The textbook is optional. Buy it! You will get lost very quickly. If you think the exam guides he gives you will be helpful, you are wrong. What's worse is he gave us an important exam AFTER the date for last day to drop. His style benefits no & he often skips step leaving you confused & calls explaining what he skipped 'slow motion' which is rude.
He is very smart; he has a unique style of teaching. He is friendly and wants his students to learn the material in depth. However, his tests can be challenging. Especially since each test is 20% of your grade and there are about 5 questions in each. Hence, doing the textbook problems is a good preparation for the tests. There's also extra credit.
He goes through class extremely slow by either getting sidetracked easily or giving a complex problem that takes the entire class period, which he expects us to be able to do without help on a test. The problems he gives in class rarely relate to the specific types of problems given on an exam, which are very difficult. Would avoid if possible.
Mohsen is easily one of the smartest professors I've ever had and he inspired me to change my major to Physics. He doesn't need any notes to teach his lectures and is clear on what the concepts are. You can't just show up to the lectures and pass. You must study at home to fully understand how to solve the problems since this is a tough subject.
Mohsen is not a good professor, but he thinks he is. I would compare his lectures to Ted talks where you're interested for a few minutes and walk out remembering nothing. Respectable man and a good speaker, but terrible at teaching. Labs are hard and homework must be right on the first try, but he makes the tests easy if he sees us all struggling.
PHYS210 is a difficult course & I felt Mohsen did not take this class serious. He jokes & digresses A LOT, making note-taking difficult b/c we get off track so much. Graded by 3 tests & 1 final but we fell so behind that we only had 2 tests. He curves the class tho! Get the textbook and review chapters at home to grasp the class if you take him.
So many things to be said in such little space. Don't take his class. Drop it while you still can. He knows physics, but he cannot teach physics. Everyday, he gave us a problem we never saw before, then he would leave the room for 15-30 minutes. He would come back, do the problem, give us a completely different problem and the leave again. avoidhim
Mohsen is very disorganized, condescending, and is very unapproachable. Honestly, he ruined physics for me, the whole experience in his class was very stressful and disheartening. I would NOT take him again nor would I recommend anyone to take his class. Took the this past Thursday and he just assigned a hw assignment today due in a week LOL
He tries to be funny and genuinely wants to help his students, but he moves very fast and can be hard to follow. Even when asked questions, he just repeats things and doesn't explain clearly. Sometimes he leaves a problem up and then leaves the room for 20mins. He's a smart and funny guy just not the best teacher so you have to work hard for an A.
He tries to be funny and genuinely wants to help his students, but goes off topic a lot. He assumes you know a lot of things already and doesn't explain well if you don't get it at first. During lab, he just puts problems up or explains the experiment and then leaves for 15-30mins. He's knowledgeable but not the best teacher so the class is hard.
As long as you listen to lectures and do hw and lab reports with good effort, you should get a high grade in this class. Also, take the 6% extra credit opportunity as that will boost your grade.
Mohsen is definitely a smart guy who is clearly very passionate about physics. One thing I respect about him is how well he kept the class engaged and participating, even over Zoom because of COVID. Mohsen is pretty good at explaining things, but the tests are extremely difficult. Lots of HW
This professor is amazing. He really cares for his students, he goes out of his way to make sure everyone is on track. He encourages questions and will ask every now and then if you understand what's going on in lecture. He really wants you to do well in his class, and yes his class is curved.
Amazing professor. I took PHYS 250 with him, now I am taking his PHYS 260, and will take PHYS 270. He gives very good and informative lectures, he is inclined to answer any question that you might have. His knowledge of the subject is immerse.
His lectures aren't super clear, you definitely have to spend a lot of time studying on your own. Homework is reasonable. He gives an oral exam at the end of the semester. Didn't upload any grades so you're pretty much left guessing what your grade in the class is. I'm not a huge math/physics fan, so I personally wouldn't take him again.
He gets off track easily. Only focuses on problem solving instead of theory. Grading criteria is not clear. I find physics hard already so will not take him again because i don't like his teaching style at all.
Maybe it was just that it was an online class, but the class was extremely unorganized. Never had any grades published, never had any due dates posted, assignments were emailed instead of on canvas. His tests were not too hard but the homework was painful since it was very easy to lose points. Confusing but necessary lectures only made it worse.
Easy A. Take it you will learn a lot and get a good grade.
Pre-COVID review. Prof clearly very knowledgeable and funny, but class moved really quickly, hw was tough, and during problem-solving sessions, he often left the room, returning only to solve the problem and put up a new one. Assumes you know the material decently already, I always left lectures completely lost and with more questions than answers.
He does not grade anything including 10 page class summary which was 40 percent of your grade. You wont have any idea what your final grade is gonna since he does not update anything. The final oral exam was not how he had described in the lecture at all. There is no way I will take his class ever again.
Best professor in teaching modern physics, thermo, quantun. He doesn't feed you with an answer but the ability to find out answers and discover questions by yourself. At the end of the course, you will understand the beauty of Physics and you might want to change major to Physics.
He is overall a good professor. I think the only issue is how explains the material, sometimes it would be very confusing and it makes it hard to follow what he is doing. So basically, not so good explaination but the more problems you practice the better.
This is a good professor for someone who has already taken Physics 210, lol
Mohsen is a very respected and a smart professor but is very unorganized with his teaching. He pushes tests back all the time and makes the last few week of the semester more stressful than it needs to be and doesn't show your grade on until the end of the course. He may be a better teacher in person. Online teaching isn't for him.
Mohsen is definitely knowledgeable & cares a lot about his students succeeding. Physics in general is a hard subject to grasp & his teaching style did not make it any easier. Class consisted of online hw, labs, & tests. No lectures to follow & learned by only doing math problems in class. Overall, nice professor but definitely better ones out there
Prof Mohsen is definitely the best professor I've ever met. So inspirational, cares a lot about the students, have lots of interactions during the class. Very knowledgeable, made every physics concept so lot easier to understand. Physics overall is a very hard subject, but with his teaching style you'll definitely learn a lot.
Mohsen is caring, funny, and very much respected by everyone at CSM. Really great guy. However, his lectures include little explaining, and lots of problem solving. Even if you don't know how to do it, he'll tell you to think and assume you can come up with an answer. You also don't know your grade until the end of the semester.
The course required zoom meetings that were disorganized, filled with technical problems as he focused more on picking out and making fun of students rather than explaining the material. No required textbook reading and very little direction, did not use Canvas, labs needed to be emailed to him directly and items never graded. Do not take him.
Prof Mohsen is nice, but he shouldn't be teaching online. Received little to no feedback throughout the course, homework didn't match content in lectures, and classes consisted of him leaving us in breakout rooms without direction. Course was extremely disorganized and he unfairly changed grading policy one day before the final. Avoid if possible.
He will assume you already know everything and the lectures are disorganized, and he doesn't allow students to check their grades. The lectures wasted a lot of time on group work rather than explaining more theory and details. He is very casual and policies are changing all the time. Try to avoid it!
I really like Mohsen. His class was intermediate difficulty.
