easy class that is also credit/no credit (and you don't need to show up after reaching 67%). work is easy if you have understanding of microsoft office. teacher is willing to help and repeat himself if you can't understand him (has slight accent).
Good guy
He's really easy and leniant...he have a lot of in-class assignment and three main project on MS Words, Excel, and Acess which is pretty easy. Three Exam including the Final but if you get at least a 70% in class you don't have to take the final. Recommended.
Didnt like the teacher. Very booring lectures. Also he really doesnt care if you listen or not. He almost sounds annoyed to be teaching. Try to find another teacher
Very nice. If you do your work, you will be OK.
Boring, but tests are easy because of study guides. Projects are ok. Easy to pass the class, just do your HW, weight alot on HW, and study the exam guides.

Boring
he is very unreasonable. test 2 had nothing to do with what he taught in the class. the assignments are very hard and because of it a lot of people cheat and they get caught. he is not very technology friendly and refuses to use beachboard. he is not very flexible and will not take any late work. i wish i would have taken someone else!
Very reasonable. Teaches very detailed. Solves a lot of problems, do your work, you'll be fine.
Great Professor! If you can't understand the book, attend the class, and you will understand everything. This class is not easy (big curve) so be prepared! He's very strict; you can't turn in late work, and attendance is a must, or your grade will suffer! The studyguides are great; 1st exam is apiece of cake, but the 2nd exam may kill your grade.
Dude, this class is not easy! Go to class. Cool teacher though. He will not accept late work, and you have to email it to him. Exams are ok, the first one super easy, second not so much. Trust me, just go to every class!!!!
Lectures are very boring because he's basically reading off each slide that was created by the authors/publishers of the book. The book is very easy to follow and when he does the study guides make sure you know each definition. Easy tests, easy projects, big curve. NOTE: DO NOT MISS ANY PROJECT ALTHOUGH IT'S WORTH ONLY 10 POINTS, IT'S 10% WORTH
First test is cake...second test is brutal..third is the final and tough. Do all assignments, attend class, even though he goes through the powerpoint all the time. One page formulas on tests.
Class is not hard at all but the teacher is sooo bad... honestly i think the beginers in the class are better than him. If I tryed corecting him... he would ignore the correction and half of the time he was wrong when he gave us an answer to questions in the book! Horrible Teacher.
the excel project are not too bad. For exams, he curves so it's an easy B with a little effort. he curve differently for each class depend on how your class is doing. every little points help so attend each class. no group project/presentation. the class was okay, but too much powerpoint can be tiresome. lots of math, i'm lost most of the time.
I stopped going to class after the first test because it was pointless. All he did was read the powerpoint slides (which he gives you the first week of class) for an hour. Didn't really explain anything and was always confusing the class. Luckily, the material is very easy. Just read the book and don't bother with class. Easy A.
He is "THE" "MOST" boring teacher ever, he reads slides from the powerpoint, but he gives study guides be4 exams;however,u have to read the book to do good, lecture notes ain't very helpful.HWs r easy pts+++he doesn't have very good temper=.=
Fine Teacher. He knows his stuff.
DO NOT take with him, unless you dont care about your GPA and want to suffer for a semester. Total waste of time and money if you take this professor who dosent know how to teach, and is also out dated. Better off with other professors who have a bit more life in them than this person. stay away for your own good
Very knowledgeable and easy. His study guide is very helpful.
out dated, stupid, not organized, unclear, lazy, rude, arrogant are just a few words to describe this professor, better off with any other professor
One of the best teachers in CSULB. If anyone says that this professor is too hard, he or she is totally brainless.
Very emotional. Get's irritated easily. Boring lectures. Easy to pass this class.
Avoid him if posible. Boring class. Reads power points that are straight from the book. Hardly anybody ever showed up for class.
Easy and helpful
Go to class listen to the lecture and you got it made.
areasonable and easy.
Explains everything in details.
He does a great job making sure no one is left behind, as long as your not scared of asking for help when you get behind the class is a walk through. Make sure you review notes for test though, its as easy to get an answer wrong as it is to get right
Great Teacher
this teacher is not bad to take. he says that attendance is important but only like for the 1st 2 weeks. just make sure u do good on his test & u dont have to take the final. his class is credit/nocredit so it dont matter if u get a C or A. the assignment are easy & the in class ones he shows u how to it so its easy. take him. u dont need the book.
This professor is one of the most boring teachers that I have ever taken - he was teaching statistics using power point slides. I pretty much learned on my own, buy the book because that's how you will be studying for the tests. His 1st test was easy, the 2nd test was very challenging and the final was reasonable. Study the definitions for the test
Buy the text, don't go 2 lectures! He never talks about the course, only his previous work experience, & "ethics." None of his lectures have anything 2 do with any of the exams! His tests are TOO random! First 2 exams I depended on Lectures, notes, & some of the reading got low C's. Last exams I read the chapters & ignored lectures, got high B's!
One of the best human beings, teachers, inspirer and... Of course not good to those who don't want to study and expect passing grade. Fair and understanding.
Got an A buy just reading the book on my own. However, he explains everything very well. The first test is very easy; the other two tests you have to study really hard for if you want to do good.
You don't need to go to class only, buy book and study your self for test. It will be OK. His lecture was fine but test is different than his lecture.
1st exam is easy, 2nd is tough, 3rd is tough as well. Some questions on exam are not covered in lecture.Possible answers to multiple choice questions may not be listed so "pick the best answer" (He wont tell you that) Attending class is useless.
Easy to understand, and lectures in details. Sadly, that's where the good points end. First exam is easy, then it gets harder. Allows formula sheets for exams, which doesn't always save you. Buy book and study that because lectures are all based on book. Don't take his 1-day class because you will fall asleep in it.
Best of the best ever. Teaches in details and goes over problems so many times till you get it.
The class was pretty easy and the professor makes sure you do well in the class as long as you are willing to meet him half way. I just wish that more was covered than the extreme basics.
Great exam reviews which tell you what topics to focus on. Exam questions can get pretty detailed. Group project and presentation due at the end of semester... make sure you follow his directions! Ended up curving the grade after the final.
At first i thought it was tough, but as the class went on he became much easier on us. he feels for the class. He makes very clear what is on the test!!!
He is a genuinely nice and somewhat funny professor. The other ratings are spot on as far as the tests go. They're all difficult. Some of the concepts are easier when you teach yourself with the book...which you WILL need. He curves the grades though so that was a plus and attendance wasn't mandatory.
Nice guy, but don't like his teaching style. He didn't seem to have a strong grasp the material, so you really have to read and do homework if you want to actually learn the material. Fortunately, he grades on a steep curve so despite hard tests, you can do well. Call me a dork but I wanted to actually learn this stuff and only some of it stuck.
Has a sweet moustache, IS355 is pretty basic, exams and group project/presentation are not that difficult. His website is quite impressive for someone in the IS dept... http://csulb.edu/~msahebja/
hes a pretty funny guy, got a maddd mustache! got a bit of an accent, teaches pretty well, read the book tho! first test was easy, 2nd two you really gotta try. always there for help, cares about those who care.
its a stats class so u gotta stay ontop of the material. he's helpful & really clear n what he expects n the lectures. his tests r exactly like the probs n class, so go 2 lecture. his attendance is 10% of ur grade so it helps. he curves @ end of sem & it helps. got Cs on his tests, final nt ****& got C n class. recommend him, but do the work!
TAKE HIM FOR IS310!!! His teaching is very clear and he grades super fair (for my class 63% was a "C". The 1st test and the final is manageable, 2nd test is hard as hell.
lecture by power point, really boring, but easy class.took over summer,3 tests, grade on curve, easy B,need some work for A.overall it's not that hard.homework is not graded but really helpful,do all the homework, read the book and you should be ok.willing to help
GOOD TEACHER. 3 tests, second one is the hardest. Grades on a curve (my 77% got me a B). He gives you 5% for attendance. He's very nice and helpful. If you struggle with math type courses then do like I did and read each chapter 3 times. His reviews tell you exactly what is going to be on the tests which are usually more than 50% conceptual.
Good Professor, he cares about the students, is very willing to help. Test's are not easy. Memorize the book. Took IS310 over the summer, lots of work. I recommend to take it during the regular semester.
He is very helpful. 3 Exams and he curves. You must attend class, do the homework, read the book! If you work full time i do not recommend that you take this class in the Summer, take it during a regular semester. Overall he was a great professor!
Professor Mohsen is a laid back dude, likes to take some days off. 455 is pretty much a breeze, except for the exams are moderately difficult because they are taken directly from Microsoft's text. Mostly labwork which is easy, and all the lab question answers can be found online. You dont really need to be there every meeting.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!! I am a student who goes to every class and studies and always does well on tests. This teacher had no idea what he was teaching, when I went to his office hours I had to remind him what the equations were that he was teaching us. I advise that you get any teacher BUT him!
Very hard class. He has said seldom do people ever get A's in his class "there will probably be one person (if that) that gets an A". Tough subject and tough class.
This class is said to be one of the most failed classes of CBA. This is a difficult course, but Sahebjame teaches clearly and explicitly states what will be on his exams, which aren't too difficult. 2 midterms, 1 project, 1 final. In my opinion, he is a great teacher.
I took him fall 2010, at the beginning of semester he told us he will curve the grade at the end of semester and he never did that at the end of term. He lied to us and did not curve any of the exams. His teaching is suck he just shows you PowerPoint and doesnt explain very well. The second exam is very hard.If he says he will curve, dont believe hi
Dr. Sahebjame is a great professor, probably one of the best at Long Beach State. IS310 is a difficult course, but he explains it very well and clear. You need to be focused and pay attention in class in order to pass. He does curve the grades at the end and gives extra credit! Oh and he wears Aqua di Gio cologne ...Dr. Sahebjame rocks!
Really nice professor and very helpful. You could tell he's a smart guy and wants to share his knowledge with a passion. Would definitely take him again in the future if I get the chance and I recommended him to all of my friends that need to take IS310. Dr. Sahebjame is a real mentor and he has great teaching skills. Just take him, pay close attention to his class... And enjoy =)
Hard class. Takes attendance. Lectures are clear; however, exam gets harder. First exam is the easiest, second exam is very hard, third exam is also hard. Study hard and do all your practice problems. Show up on review day.
He is really hard, is 300 is nothing but he made it hard.I studied for the exam but it was really hard and the class average was 64. He lecture on something out of topic.Dont take it even you study you wont get good grade. He never curves
I dropped his class because the test was extremely hard and everyone did bad on first test. Even if you know the materials, you cant get the right answer because its all implication questions. IS 300 is easy class but he made it hard. Dont take this useless professor
Nice guy but lectures too fast so hard to follow. Everyone does poorly on the second test because he asks very dry and techical concept questions, which the lecture des not prepare you. For the final grade, He said the that the class mean would be a middle "C" but did not keep his promise.... I learned more about stats in lower division!!!
Worst professor ever! His lectures are pointless since he goes off topic all the time. His so called "study guides" doesn't help a bit. Studying is pointless, since he's tests are hard. And if you see a mistake he made in class, he will still try to make it seem like he's right. To him, he's the smartest person in class! Do not take him!
I took his class thinking it was easy, according this, but boy was I wrong. He is very unfair and hard. He does go off topic a lot, well practically the entire class time. The entire class complained about his grading, yet he didn't even bother listening. Avoid him if you can.
The course cover a lot of material. Some things are interesting to learn but others are not for non majors. Lectures are long and goes off topic if not longer than he should. He is very nice though. Gave xtra credit towards end when no one would show up. Class not mandatory all u need is the book. 3 exams 2 HW/projects very easy
Worst professor in the world...His lecture is super boring and he always pretend he knows a lot about computers. No one get an A for the group project even we followed all instructions! He thinks he is always right when you argue with him. Avoid him!
Dont take this guy, i thought he is fair but he is extremely hard. Went through study guide and studied a lot for the exams but did poor on the exams. He pretend to be nice and knowledgeable but he is suck. I am A student but dropped his class. Questions are tricky. O boy avoid him .
Avoid him! And be careful reading some of the good comments. I heard he comments on this one.
Cannot express how helpfull and knowledgeable he is. All the negative comments of course comes from thoseo couldot tak advantage of him.
Easy! B on all exams and didn't even open the text book. You're DUMB if you cant pass his class. Anyone on here who says the class was difficult is very wrong.
Not bad but he doesn't teach much and the lectures don't go anywhere, which is a shame since I liked the material. You are basically on your own in this class - read the book, take notes, and do the labs. Take the online quizzes from the book's site and you will do well on the exams (otherwise you may not be prepared for the test bank questions).
Professor is extremely boring in lecture! First 2 exams were not bad, final exam was extremely difficult. Tests are primarily conceptual moreso than computation based, yet its a MATH class! watch out on tests, questions are tricky
3tests,1hw assignment.Lectures are boring, but he give a lot of practice problems which can help you with studying.Gives helpful reviews before tests(gives similar problems, and tells you what to study)allowed a cheat sheet.Tests are mostly concepts.First 2tests were fairly easy,&the final was impossibly difficult. I got a B w/curve.
Very detailed lecture and lots of problem solving. He is very fair and knowledgeable
Very easy and solves so many problems
Better than other Stat teachers that I have had so far. spend time on materilas and does lots of problem solving
go to class because he basically goes over every problems on your homework (which are not graded/required) he is boring though but super easy B and would be an easy A if you do work
Best of thr bests
His tests are hard, but if you go to his office hours very helpful and friendly.
He is a nice and reasonable instructor. However, since the material is really dry for systems analysis he doesnt cover much in lecture, and be advised that you need to be able to learn on your own how to set up a web application for your group project. Tests use bank questions (easy but some sneaky ones show up) and he tells to study.
Had him for database and systems analysis this semester. There are worse profs, but as an IS student I want to do hands on queries, diagramming, programming, and here all that matters is doing multiple choice tests (80 percent) on concepts that come off as trivial. Any work on the computer is learned on your onwn. Disappointed IS student
One of the best and more of a human being kind of professors at CSULB
If you do not have a complete understanding of Computers take this introductory course with him and you will enjoy it. Attend all class meetings and take good notes. Do all homework and study chapter vocabulary and chapter and you will be fine. You will need both textbooks. Workbook and introduction book. excellent teacher ever. Loved taking him.
Sadly I took 4 of his classes: IS310, IS380, IS385 and IS 355. All of them are the same. SUPER BORING Lecture. Attd depends on the class. All course to me are SELF-STUDYING COURSE. Not a bad guy but hard to communicate with. Test are not that hard. He is that kinda guy can make student totally lost their interest. Too bad we don't have much choice.
This is the only professor you should take for this class. 3 exams He does a lot of problems on the board. Trust me, he is a nice man. He is fair. if you take anyone else you will be sorry. The subject matter is hard. Do good on the first 2 exams so you don't freak out on the final. But take it in the day if you can.
I'm not very good at math, so attendance was necessary! He cares about his students and is fair, so do your best and study. After lectures, you need to review the material because exams are 50% concept. 3 exams+1 HW. I made a huge human error during finals, in short, he saved my college career; I'm forever grateful! Take His class!
Extremely nice guy. Lectures are boring, but attendance is necessary. The course is hard, so study like your life & GPA depend upon it! My exam scores were low, but I earned a perfect score on the Homework, and received a C in the course. Try your best, and do not drop the course. He curves, but he will not reveal how much or how the curve works.
This professor was useless for this class. I learned absolutely nothing, our class time consisted of us working on our "group project" and him just sitting at his desk doing nothing. Anything learned in this class is from self-study and the gigantic group project is impossible unless you have past website design experience. This class=time waster.
Avoid this man if possible, although I'm fully aware that there isn't a lot of choice in the IS department. His lectures are confusing and his class lacks organization. Furthermore, he just quit on the class a quarter of the way through. The only positive thing is that thanks to him leaving the class, we got a better professor.
Lectures are a bit boring, he has a group project that isn't too bad. He is VERY helpful, willing to meet you outside of class. Tests are tricky if you don't know the material. He doesn't make his tests, generates them thru the textbook website. This class can either hurt your grade/help it. Only 1 hw assign. & 1 group proj.
Great professor and very helpful. One small hmk assignment and 1 group project. Make sure to take notes on how to do both of them. He goes over how to do both assignments in class. Tests are difficult but if you read the book / main grammer words you should be fine.
He is a nice guy, but his exams are very hard. He uses the book publisher's test bank for test questions. In order to do well on exams, make sure to really understand the chapters in the book. The group project is super easy. He explains how to do the project step by step in class. His PowerPoint lectures aren't very helpful.
He is a nice guy, but the main thing that I didn't like about his class is the fact that he uses exams from the publisher's website (super hard). In order to do well in the exams, you will need to memorize the textbook. His lectures aren't very helpful. The projects are super easy if you take good notes when he explains how to complete them.
Stay away!! This professor is ridiculous. His tests are impossible unless you buy the test bank for the book (Which he just copies and pastes to the tests he gives). Dont buy the book, buy the test bank if you must take him. I haven't gotten a C since grade school, but thanks to this sucky professor, thats changed (and Im a junior @ CSULB)
nice guy, helps a lot with assignments. If you go to his office, he will take you through all the steps to do your project.
You would expect this class to be easy... it is not... he goes by the Publisher's PowerPoint slides and the Publisher's hardest questions... does not curve grades. He comes across as being easy; the tests are hard. Most students got a C, few a B and a couple an A... He goes by what he has to do to be professor, not because he wants you to learn :-(
Honestly a nice person however his lectures don't prepare you for his tests. He still uses the test bank and to be honest having the test bank seems like the only way to pass the class. His projects aren't that difficult and if you go to his office hours he either tells you what to do or fixes the parts you cant get
Projects have confusing and poorly defined expectations. Lectures are monotoned and can be boring. Powerpoints do not line up with exams: read the book. Uses school FTP server. Professor expects a knowledge of Microsoft Office. Participation is not mandatory but the important information like steps on how to the projects are only explained in class
Met him just for the day of the syllabus and he was rude and not welcoming to questions. Not a nice guy in general and he responded to maybe one of my emails the entire semester. I wouldn't recommend taking him for any classes. If IS233 wasn't online, he probably would've made the material much more difficult on purpose.
Just walked out of his final. He gave us a detailed review to use to study for the final (the exam is over 12 chapters). Woke up this morning to an email from him saying that he rewrote the entire test. Walked into the test unsure what to expect & the test was 100% different from the review, with random concepts and details never gone over in class
Terrible instructor for this class. The only way to pass is the memorize the book word for word. Having the test bank won't help because he'll "recreate the final in a short amount of time" anyway Avoid him if you can, and this is from someone who has had him previously.
Oh I loved it when he got on those cheaters case by changing his final exam. I suffered because of that as well, but I hate to see students having the test bank and finishing in 15 minutes and get 100. He is very helpful, nice knowledgeable and caring. But not giving free ride.
He changed the final at the last minute due to finals. However, my grade took a huge blow due to this. I was on my way to an A but his final was poorly designed and did not go over many topics as he mentioned in his study guide. He is very helpful if you ask him for help. He is one of those professors that "want to teach you millennials a lesson."
Nice knowledgeable sharp helpful
The most boring lectures I have ever sat through. About 10 out of 150 students went to class by the third week. You will learn nothing unless you teach yourself, but if you go into his office hours he will help you get the projects in. Beware though, there is usually a line of about 5 students bc no one knows what is going on.
He is incompetent in teaching his subject. He acts afraid of the internet, and his tests are not consistent. Avoid him at all costs.
Very knowledgeable and caring
Great professor for IS310. Lectures are boring (nature of stats) but he is good at explaining the concept so you will understand. If you don't understand something just raise your hand and he will make sure you get it. Test are on the easy side for a stats class. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended.
Very clear and straight to the point lecture. For the hard class like stat, he does a good job
Very Fair and understanding. Easy to understand and follow
Professor Mohsen is one hell of a teacher I have ever had. He is by far the most humble and caring professor that know his stuff well and knows how to get it across. If you don't succeed in his class, you really got a problem. He begs students to ask questions in class, which is not customary with most professors. Great job professor Mohsen
Really solid Professor, and one that you'll want to definitely ask questions if you don't understand something. He cares a ton about his students, replies quickly to emails, and answer questions thoroughly when asked. His lectures go by fast compared to other professors, but if you don't like stats this class may be slightly challenging.
So humble and down to earth. Knows his stuff and willing to help. Responds to your emails almost right away. encourages students to ask questions. Never loses patience and respectability
His homework assignments were very easy and pointless. The first test was extremely easy. Every test after that was almost all definition and concept based. Not a lot of actual math problems. Make sure you know more than just the math problems or you won't pass the tests. Barely passed with a C. Overall good professor. I'd take him again.
I love the subject he currently teaches, but he doesn't cover most of the material. he just leaves you to study the rest of the things not even he has covered during the class. He's good but just not close to being an efficient professor at his own profession...
He is a good professor that cares about his students, but his lecture style and teaching style is terrible. He knows what he is talking about but does not know how to express that. Very monotone, and his accent makes it hard to learn sometimes. I wouldn't take him again for math. Not a very good professor for business stats.
One of the bests. I do not know what the previous rater is talking about. He is very knowledgeable and easy to understand. I had this course with different professor last semester, couldn't understand a word. Professor sahebjame is easy to understand and he make stat very easy to learn
Lectures are pretty boring. Test are difficult. He is willing to help though which is something not a lot of professors will do now-a-days. He will make sure you understand the material during lectures. Take this class if your original class with the best professor already got taken.
One of the bests at CBA
He is not a good professor. He lectures the whole time and is very monotone. Generally if you want to get better at math you have to do questions but the homework he gives you has nothing to do with learning the material. Don't take him if you can avoid it.
Mohsen is a chill professor to have for B-Stats. He loves to help if you just ask; it helps if you remember STATS 118, the classes are near identical. There are 5 homework assignments but they're spread throughout the semester. You can have a formula sheet for the tests, but it's conceptually based so know your stuff and not just the equations!
Mohsen's a great professor, he really wants everyone to understand the material. He constantly encourages questions throughout the semester, and does lots of problem solving. To do well, focus on the concepts in addition to the problems. Good luck!
TAKE HIM!!! This is "one of the hardest CBA classes" and I did not feel that at all. 4 easy homework assignments!! Tests are alright, combination of concepts and problem solving (all MC) but everything he lectures on is on the test! I had the 3-hour night class, and he makes the time go my super fast. Go to lecture and you will pass.
This professor made it extremely difficult to learn simple concepts that could have been explained more thoroughly and clearly. This professor expects the class to absorb the material without explanation but rather teaches through easier examples from the book. Literally made an account just to review and how badly I wish I took another professor.
I've taken IS310 course with a different professor that didn't teach & had to buy his error-ridden published book. Thankfully, Professor Sahebjame was just the opposite. I would recommend him! He curves all grades at the end. At least 65% overall to pass & 25% comes from super easy HW. Advice: buy the TI-84CE, it does a majority of the math.
He won't exactly teach you the material. His lectures are mostly reading off from the the power points and very few examples. Its up to you to teach yourself the material or you wont pass. There was also a lot of errors on the tests with typos, but he wont admit if they were typos or not so beware of those on the tests.
This guy is actually pretty cool and makes this class not that hard. He is able to make the material clear and will stop for you if you have any questions. 3 exams which he curves and about 4 hw assignments which are pretty easy. If you stay on top of it, you'll be fine. Take him you wont regret it.
If not the best of the bests, for sure one of the best at CSULB
Very easy to understand. Great lecture. A gentelman and very caring
Tries making a difficult subject easy for students. Pay attention in class at least when he goes over the examples and it'll make your life easier.
Very monotone way of lecturing, all he does is go over problems that are on the book and explain them very fast. 3 exams and 4 HW assignments and will curve at the end. atleast a 65% will get u a C in the class. In my opinion, you will have to teach yourself the material if you take him.
He definately is one of the most caring, knowledgeable, well respected professor at CSULB that knows how to make a tough subject like stat very easy for students tyo understand. Great job professor Mohsen
The best professor for IS310. Hes always willing to help and clarify any questions you may have. Dont take IS310 with anybody but him. Three exams and four easy written hwk assignments. Exams 75% of grade and hwk 25%. Curves at the end of the semester. Put in work and youll pass. He tries to make a difficult subject more doable. Kind man
He does example/hw problems with you on the board and it really helps you learn, however, the tests are completely different so it almost seems pointless. Other than that, great Prof. He jokes with the class and is like a grumpy yet lovable grandpa. I somehow passed the class with a 65% on test 1, 26% on test 2 (ya i know) and a 63% on the final.
Professor Mohsen is the GOAT, if this mans can't teach you stats no one can. Put the effort in and it'll be a breeze.
I took this class knowing that people say this professor is extremely hard, and at the end of the semester, I realized that those students were probably doing the bare minimum. Tests are okay (do the practice problems to prepare!!!), HW is easy points, and his curve is HUGE. This class is not as bad as people make it seem to be.
Mohsen's a pretty good professor for business stats; he's nowhere near as bad as the other professors I heard for this class. He's very nice and basically begs the class to ask questions if they are confused. Make sure to do well on the first exam; the next two exams are much more complex than his lectures. Do the hw + practice problems. Curves.
This class wasn't his expertise because he had to fill in for another professor but the class overall was easy. Could've gotten a higher grade but I didn't read enough for exams (must read for exams) but he understood the class overall wasn't interesting but his humor made it interesting. Lectures are dry but he does curve overall and is helpful
3 exams and 4 homework assignments. The homework is very easy and those 4 hw assignments count as 25% of your grade so I recommend you do them all. Each exam counts as 25% of your grade. He curves A LOT. His lectures were boring and it was difficult to pay attention in class.
He lectures during the entire class, but he is patient and encourages questions. Don't be shy, he'll take his time to explain the problem until you understand it. The curve is also INSANE. I passed by doing each HW assignment and with test scores of 50%, 50%, and 60%.
There are 3 tests and 4 homework assignments. Just do the homework and you'll be fine. HIS CURVE IS A LIFE SAVER. I got a D and 2 Cs on his tests and I got a B. He allows a cheat sheet with ONLY formulas. He's really sweet and willing to help. Take him!!
This professor was amazing. Tests are not too difficult and there are only 3 easy homeworks. He is very flexible on all due dates and class lectures are simple. During the Coronavirus, he took the time to make a bunch of video lectures from home AND offered to get us food if we're in need. Also responds to email instantly and is very nice!!
Maybe hes the best bus stats professor at CSULB but he is very lazy! Sometimes he is unclear about the homework and instructions. When you email him asking him for something he replies fast but most of the time his reply doesnt make any sense. He curves but you wont learn much in the class. He is a really nice person but not the best prof!
Please do well on 4 Hws since his exams are 50 questions in 1 hr. He will never review study guide nor go over after exam. He may curve if the class does horribly. 25% for all hw and 3 exam(MC). He is old fashioned with ego so don't tilt him. He is nice but lazy to email. Not so hard materials but he is meh. Easy B but hard A.
Pretty terrible teacher, or if you want to call him that, doesn't care about his students, gives tests based on things he doesn't teach, this is a statistic course but 80% of questions are theory and not application, take probably literally anyone else if you want to learn, I learned more, and more in-depth in my lower division stats class
The exam's system of this professor is horrible! You only got 1 hour to do 50 questions about CALCULATING. This is a calculate class, how we supposed to do 1 minute/question. The more horrible thing is you have to submit the answer to every question before you can go to the next question! It even takes you more time if you unsure of one question!
Is surprised when classes don't ask questions but also gets annoyed when there are too many questions. Biggest test curves of any class I've ever taken (58% was the highest score in our class on test 1 which he says is easy). Just rambles for a good portion of class, then speeds through material in the last 10-20 minutes. Be ready to teach yourself
He will NEVER ever review for exams. He believes he is telling you answers for exams. (?) Who doesn't review before exam? He believes his class should expect the state of university level but he doesn't teach anything. NOTHING. Don't argue with him since he thinks your wasting his time. Take him if you want to be professor for urself. Disrespectful
This is the worst class I have taken at LB by far. The tests are almost impossible to even get a C on. His teaching is terrible and has no correlation to what is on the tests. He does not do any review for tests as he feels that reviewing the study guide is "cheating". Stay far far away from this class.
He is a caring professor, don't believe the previous reviews. he curves the exams, although the average was low (60%) the highest score was a 94%. In my opinion, you have to pay attention to do well and review the material before hand. People are just complainers.
He is very caring professor. He answers any question you ask and argue you to ask. Very respectful to his student and trying to accommodate everyone. He curved first exam by 20 points or more so most of class passed. Just pay attention to his class and put effort and you should do fine. I got 90% on my first exam without curve. Take him.
Although hes a caring guy, Sahebjame is not the greatest teacher. I understand that it is difficult to teach online, but it is especially frustrating when his tests do not pertain to the materials that he covers in class. In addition, he only decided to make changes once he was ratted out to by the department chair. Be prepared to teach yourself!
Good Professor, easy HW assignments, tests are heavily curved at end of semester so don't worry if you do bad on your exams. Turn all the hw in and you will be set. Nice guy
He is such an understanding professor. He is reasonable with his homework and exams. Exams are proctored through zoom, and he assigned four homework assignments that are usually done through excel but he explains how to do it. His lectures are informative.
Greatest Of All Times. Stat is a tough class. Professor Mohsen made it easy to understand and also easy to pass. Thanks to professor Mohsen. Keep up the good work.
Homework is very easy to get 100% on. 3 exams worth 25% each and all 4 homework's are a total of 25%. I took this online and it went well. You definitely need to study to pass, but attending his lecture will prepare you for exam and study guide that he provides. I recommend online class, but not in class with him. good luck!
He is the best. His curve is amazing. Take him, you won't regret that you did.
Solid choice. Prof doesn't make you turn on your camera (cam was optional during the final, but wasn't for the midterms) Every class is just going over the publisher's powerpoints and example problems from the textbook. Class is an easy B, hard A. Honestly was a boring class but if you want to pass stats, take this professor. He cares for students
Very caring and knowledgeable. Cool curve. Knows his stuff. Works with students to improve their grades.
Very difficult to learn from. The class was self-taught for me. Claims there is a curve at the end of the semester but it doesnt make much of a difference. Nice guy but not extremely effective in teaching this course.
Nice guy, BAD professor. If you just want to pass stats with a C and not retain any actual info. then take this class. His teaching methods are extremely outdated, and he doesn't make the course applicable our future careers at all. Very boring lectures, and was NOT accommodating during COVID pandemic. His tests are ridiculous.
The best professor I have ever had. Clear to understand. Very knowledgeable. Stat is a hard class, he made it so easy to understand. Great curve. 76 and got a B.
PROFESSOR MOHSEN IS VERY CARING AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE MAKES STAT EASY TO LEARN WITH A COOL CURVING.
Take him. He is the best.
Finished my final with him. Did not require students to turn on their video on Zoom. Very nice and understanding. Listens to students.
During Spring 20 at the start of school closure due to Covid, he offered free groceries to students. One of a kind.
Very flexible
He is very nice and caring. Poor reviews come from those who wanted to take advantage of the professor's caring personality and he did not give in. Some students were encouraging others through chats to take advantage of the Covid situation.
GOAT. 4 easy homework and 3 tests with a wide curve, everyone will pass.
I PASSED WITH 67%. HE IS THE GREATEST.
He knows his stuff very well and knows how to teach it.
By far THE BEST professor at csulb! He really cares about his students and goes the extra mile to make sure we succeed in his class! He gives generous curves on exams but only if the entire class didn't do well. Make sure you do your homework assignments they will save your grade! Make sure you exchange numbers w other students have a group text!!
One of the most humble and caring professor I have ever had.
Very caring and knowledgeable.
I failed every exam and still got a C in the course (he curves). I got A's on each HW assignment. He gets annoyed when students ask questions. 4 VERY EASY HW assignments (25% each), exam 1 (25%), exam 2 (25%), final (66 ?'s in 2 hours) (25%). Camera required for all tests but the final. He did not use respondus lockdown browser. Very monotone, rude
Uses a very wide curve. Very caring and respectable.
Awesome amazing caring knowledgeable patient and flexible
-the subject itself is not hard, but his class is not very engaging imo, so it made me hard for me to go to class/learn -prof is understanding + likes to answer questions - wish hw was more like the exams
Professor is amazing. He gives you the flexibility you need especially in business. He is extremely caring. Do your work, Do practice problems. You may have to teach yourself some material but you WILL PASS. Also, don't buy the book, that's my biggest regret this semester. No camera needed for anything.
Cons: Doesn't record lectures No study guide Has the handwriting of a 10 year old Boring lectures Pros: Nice Extends homework due dates Has a good curve only because a majority of his students fail the exam
VERY CARING AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. EXTENDS HOMEWORK DEADLINE
Taken online. No proctor during exams. 4 homework assignments super easy and 3 exams. Don't worry if you don't pass your exams because he curve the grade and it's still possible to pass. Extends due dates and very flexible. You do have to study if you want a good grade.
Suuuuppppeeerrrr. The best for stat. Flexible. Understanding.
Hw was easy. Tests were sort of difficult and may be challenging. He does curve test grades if you do bad. Teaching wise, just goes over old powerpoints that can be boring. He does ask to be on zoom, no camera while taking exams. Exams are not on lockdown
Terrible instructor- especially when it comes to the CPE Exam. He would not even assist me in turning in my files because the dropbox locations had locked BEFORE they were supposed to. As I was trying to resolve this issue he continued to speak over me and eventually kicked me from the zoom. So my money was wasted and I was unable to turn CPE in
Very caring and understanding.
Be careful if you take this professor. He is awful. His exams do not match his slides. He simply reads off his slides and does not teach the students. His averages for his exams are also very low (around 40-50%). His grading if very unusual. His homework assignments are easy but the exams will kill you grade.
Every visual learners worst nightmare!!! All he does is read off the slides and fails to demonstrate the material being taught. 4 easy homework but the exams are the worst. So many questions with so little time. Class average on the exan 30-55%. I self-study and earned 54% & 45% on the first 2. I actually like math so if you dont, well, goodluck :/
Do NOT take this professor. His lectures are vague and he does not work through the problems. Never in my life have I had a math teacher who does not work out problems with the class. His explanations make everything confusing, his slides are outdated, and his exams have typos in them. Not to mention, everyone fails his exams so he has to curve.
One of the worst professors I've ever had. Reads off slides during lectures, is rude to students, and his tests are too long and very difficult. Said he would curve tests, but ended up curving way less than stated. Please do not take his class it is not worth it.
DONT ever take this professor!!!! Worst professor i've ever had. Exams had SO MANY typos in them, little to no time with SO many questions, everyone failed the exams, claimed he would curve and ended up giving a curve that no one benefited from. Most of the class was worried about not even being able to get a C overall.
Worst professor ever. I never write reviews, but this professor is atrocious! My GPA was 4.0 before taking this class. Curves are overstated in his class. Most students fail his tests and he promised that the final grade curve would remedy that. Not true. Probably 2 or 3 students got A's in his class. I IMPLORE YOU NOT TO TAKE THIS CLASS.
Best professor ever. Humble, knowledgeable with good heart.
This class is different. The homework is somewhat related to the material but doesn't help when taking exams. He has sick curves so you will pass with a C, unless you put in zero effort whatsoever. This professor isn't for everyone, his exams are a bit confusing, averages were 50%, but with curves C is easily doable.
Easy C. Professor Mohsen is not a typical Professor. He is very patient and respectful with students. Makes hard subjects easy. Do assignments and three tests, you will pass.
Pros: Nice guy, easy homework, doesn't take attendance, and you can still pass with a C if you fail the three exams (if you get 47-60% on them.). Cons: Reads directly from the PowerPoints, practice questions are useless, and you learn nothing. Also, the wording on his exams is confusing that you sometimes have no idea what you're looking for.
A terrible professor wouldn't recommend it, although he curves at the end and you should be able to pass. He went back on his word on his curve scale so People who failed his exams got the same grade as me, which didn't make sense since i did fairly well for his "curve". Lectures are boring, I literally could learn better from youtube.
Great great professor. Teaches well and grades generously. Take him.
Prof. Sahebjame: 4 homework assignments, 2 midterms, and a final. Assignments were easy, simple MS Access tasks, HTML for the most basic webpages, and 2 very short papers. Rarely took attendance, and when he did, you got EC for being there. Taking him for Stats next semester.
Easy to pass. 4 easy homework assignments, 3 tough exams but curved, follow in-class exercises and you will be good for the exam.
2 Midterms 1 Final, and 4 easy homework assignments. If you are a visual learner, I would not recommend, as he mainly just reads off of his slides. Tests are open note but are very difficult and he does not give enough time. He apparently curves extremely hard at the end of the semester so just do all the homework and try your best.
Really nice guy & wants to help us learn however his approach in teaching is not good. Id say u can pass the class with a C fairly easy but for an A you need other sources.. his lectures & notes alone wouldn't help. he does more explaining than walking us through problems & solving with us. he does allow either open note or study guide not both.
Hello, where is everybody? His opening line every day. Easy grader on HW, curves final grade. Allows excel, open notes on all exams. Highly recommended.
2 Midterms and 1 Final, and 4 easy homework, he allows you to bring notes and use Excel, and are multiple choices, but be aware, he stated that his tests would be 50% material and 50% calculating. However, his tests were based heavily on theory more than on math, which I don't really like. He also curved a lot, so you don't worry about passing.
A very kind professor, with 4 easy assignments and 3 exams. The exams are open-book and multiple-choice. He isn't the best teacher and mostly goes through the slides that he provides. If you just want an A, take him but if you want to learn the subject, I recommend a different professor.
HE DOES NOT ALLOW OPEN NOTES ANYMORE. Too many people were cheating on his previous exams so now we are doing statistics by hand when industry standard is excel. There are four homeworks and they are so easy but the tests are impossible. Class average for tests was never above a 65%. If you have to take him, study vocab and definitions before tests
the class is hard especially exams. I failed all of them and got a C in the class because he curves a lot like a lot so you will be find if you fail all exams or are stressed. He is actually very nice. I would definitely take this class because of the curve but it also depends on the class averages. 2nd exam is the hardest
The only good thing about this professor is that the homework is extremely easy. His exams are mostly definitions. His powerpoints and study guides are disorganized and he doesn't post a key whatsoever, so you will have no idea if you're doing anything right. Why make a study guide at all? His averages are so bad and it's obvious as to why.
He tried his best to make lectures more interesting but I think he needs to restructure the course. He has a good heart and passes everyone with a C, as long as you're trying.
Great guy, but not the best professor. I struggle to pay attention and retain anything from this class. 4 hmwk assignments 20% of ur grade and the other 80 is all exams. Exams are more definition based than actual math. Don't agree the way he creates exams. Too difficult for no reason. If you are not a good exam taker, I suggest someone else
He is an interesting one. He doesn't expect most of the class to pass exams, so he curves insane amounts. So if you want a class where you can get an easy pass, then I guess this is the one for you.
The only reason u should take this class is if u are willing to settle for a C. He curves everyone to a C, but not those who are at a C. The curve is dumb. And I had to teach myself by reading the book and doing everything on my own because lecture was hard to understand. If I had a better professor, I wouldve passed with an A in this class.
Do not take this professor, unless you just want to settle for C. He is so unfair the way he curves the final grade. If you had a C, you will stay at C, and so on. But people having a percentage of F and D's will still receive a C. It's honestly pointless striving hard in this class. Exams are hard, and I literally learned nothing from him.
This professor has given unfair curve for final grade. Even though he knows what he is doing, he doesn't really know how to teach as class average are really LOW. If you just want to pass, then he will pass you. Exerting effort to this class is such a waste as the way he unfairly grades people who really tried to have a good grade.
He is so nice with an extremely wide curve. Made difficult subject easy to understand
The professor curves a lot, so even if the exams are tough, you can still end up with a decent grade. Definitely do the readings and use resources like unstuckstudy ai to prepare - it really helps make the material click.
His curve is does not help enough, even if he says it will. He only provides a curve so that the majority of students can be just lifted to a passing grade. Class averages on tests was consistently low 60s. Did not explain concepts well and will get upset if students do not understand new material. Would not recommend.
So here's the thing he's a really nice charismatic guy, but there is too much information to retain to fully know what you're really doing. He does allow formula sheets on exams and has SGswhich is nice, but most of the time I'm pretty lost in class. I'm hoping with his curve I'll pass the class, but so far I'm not.. class feels too material heavy.
DO NOT TAKE!!! He is probably the worst professor ive ever taken. His lectures make 0 sense and he is terrible at explaining concepts. Everything i learned was from youtube. If you take him you will pass, curve is heavy! 3 test- if you get 50% on all exams you'll get a c. Exams just need to add up to 150! But u need to study to get the 50%.
Kinda hard to follow along in class but if try to pay attention it's easier to learn. He's nice but don't get on his bad side. Yelled at a girl for flipping the test too early so it's true what others have said. Curves, but if you want above a C, keep on track with writing notes from each chapter bcs slides are 70+ each. Sounds like gru too lol.
There are three exams and four assignments. You'll pass if you average 50% on all the exams and do the homework correctly. He has the heaviest curves I've seen. I was in a big class, so attendance wasn't enforced. If you have a smaller class, go to class. The exams focus on solving problems and your understanding of certain concepts.
If you just want to get this class over with he will pass you as long as you attend class and do all your homework even with failing all of the tests his curve is super heavy. Those who failed truly didn't try at all overall would take again really nice guy.
Great professor; he really cares for you, unlike most professors at CSULB! He's a funny guy, and lectures actually go by fast, which is a good thing. Such a stressful subject but he made it pleasurable and reassuring. Study guides could be a little better but I wouldn't think twice about taking him again.
The best of the best. I didn't mind going to this class and I hate math. Not a lot of professors are like this guy. If you aren't good at math I would 100% take him. Just do some studying, and you'll pass. Such a lifesaver he is.
don't take him, really rude
Knowledgeable, caring and easy to understand
He is not a good lecturer throughout the semester I taught myself the course. Not a thing was learned from him. If you have an option to pick a different professor do it!
Just take him and you will pass if you do your homework assignments and get 50 on the three exams
Very horrible, he thinks he knows what he's doing, but no. It's no surprise that students are taking exams on Scantrons when he's supposed to teach Excel, testing students this life-long skill in his in-person classes. Lacks professionalism and rather condescending, get ready to teach yourself. Take someone else who's name is not Mohsen Sahebjame.
He is a professor who makes class extremely boring by just reading off slides and solving problems without engaging the class. Allows a cheat sheet but on exams but ends up being useless for the exam since you cant write down practice problems or definitions. Exams do not correlate with study guide. Self taught class. No one knows whats going on rn
If you have any other options please choose the other. I took this professor for an online class and he is very rude and class dragged on and was more boring than other classes. Attendance with camera on was mandatory and was rude to those who didn't have cameras. Avoid if you have any other options take it it's 10000x better than this “teacher”.
If you earn high grades, please avoid Sahebjame. A typical slide reader who consistently exhibits rude behavior towards students, with no opportunities for grade boosts. Wasted most first few class meetings on cameras being off, kicking out students than lecturing. Asked me to bring a "Scantron" to review my online exam with him. Not good, bad. RUN
This Professor is extremely rude, he wasted a lot of time kicking people out of zoom meetings for no camera. He's not a good professor and he is inept when it comes to technology. Online exams where we were allowed to have notes & use excel, only requirement during exams was to be on Zoom with camera on.
Save your time and money. This professor can't teach the material well at all and he is very rude. If you get a 60% in his class, he will round you to a C at the end of the semester.
