Very nice teacher, explains thoroughly, passes out candy!

Class is a little rough, do the homework
Very helpful and really wants you to understand material..do homework!
Very helpful, funny.. cares about students... do the homework and study!!
Material is kinda hard, but she teaches it very well.
WONDERFUL teacher, very passionate, difficult material, but go to her office hours
The best damn accounting teacher bar-none.
Great teachers, goes the extra mile to make sure students understand.
nice lady, but she really does not explain things very well. tests are EXTREMELY hard
Not too hard of a class and teaches it pretty well, very understanding
Nice woman, however, not a very good teacher. Tests are very difficult.
lots of handouts are very helpful--tests pretty difficult but shes' a really nice lady
The other raters here are on crack. Her exams are impossible. Useless hand-outs. Seems like she can't convey the material to a class. Be prepared to teach yourself Managerial Acct. She is nice, though.
Tests are extremely difficult and students aren't given enough time to finish them. The teacher is pleasant yet has trouble teaching the material to the class. I would not reccomend her.
sweet helpful lady, but this was her first time teaching 242 and it was rough going. she'll probably improve as she sets her own standards - the materials just hard and she got confused alot.
I cannot speak of her teaching in the past but if anyone were to say that she does a poor job now I would have to disagree strongly. She is a great teacher and I enjoy her class. I find that my success is directly correlated to her teaching abilities.
just no
Mrs. Brown is a good proffessor! Not hard to keep up on the readings and homework (don't turn in). Easy weekly MC quizzes and difficult, but fair tests. You have to work, and you'll learn a lot. Sticks to a clear, nice schedule. No attendance policy.
Needs to be a kindergarten teacher rather than a college accounting professor. Very sweet lady but a horrible teacher with riduculously hard tests!
Really nice lady. She gives clear notes in class, and is very willing to help both in and out of class. Tests are REALLY hard. Given in two parts, 2nd part long and she does not give extra time. No attendance policy, but you should go.
Hard course, good teacher. If you can do the homework, you will do well on exams. No attendance policy. One of the better 241 teachers.
Arent given enough time for tests, very unclear on material
nice lady, good teacher
gets confused a lot ,really cool lady though. She likes to joke around but unfortunatly jokes are not on her tests. Tests are too long for the time.
Nice lady. Class is easy to follow and she is a good teacher but the material is hard and the tests are harder. The tests are too long for the time. Doing homework helps alot. Occasional suprise quizes only worth 10 points. Attendance Policy. Take her, but be prepaired to do work.
Nice lady, but very hard course. She gets confused and makes alot of mistakes in class. She doesn't care how her students do in class. Thinks a 70 average on tests are good. Group Case problems = impossible!
She's entertaining-just too damn hard. Test are too long, no curve or extra credit. 2 projects/and homework/pop quizzes. She is only goes over homework, never explains ahead. So you pretty much end up teaching yourself
Really nice lady. Teaches well but tests and quizzes are hard and doesnt give enough time. Studying a decent amount will get you a B.
Extremely nice and sweet and willingness to help you. Can always go to office hours or talk to her after class. Material is hard so you have to stay on top of it. Don't have to read book but be sure to do hw. Quizzes are hard but drops lowest 2. 2 group projects but she helps you with them. Ta
Really nice lady. She's always helpful during office hours. If you understand the material her tests are not too hard, but otherwise you could have trouble. Uses a lot of examples for teaching in class.
I thoroughly enjoyed having Ms. Brown for 241. She taught the material well, but she also expects you to do your fair share of work. She is not an easy grader, and she does not hand out grades. You must earn your grade, but she does like to see her students do well.
Makes you cry on a daily basis. The class itself is not hard, but the tests are unnecessarily and ridiculously hard. She didn’t collect any HW, drops 2 lowest quizzes, and you will need that. I took her for 241 and it just gets harder. Bonus points for attendance which you will also need.
I had her for 241 and 242 and she just gets harder and harder. Her tests are extremely hard and she doesn't give you enough time. Nice lady but for some reason enjoys watching her students struggle. If you can take someone easier I would.
She is nice and fairly clear etc, but her class is just too damn hard. She considers 70% a good average for tests, and those group projects take forever (although they do help you learn) and they're only worth 10 points (the same as the weekly quizzes)
Very nice lady but also pretty hard. Homework is not mandatory but I can imagine from experience it would really help. Tests are near impossible even for those who study for 6-8 hrs per test. Pulled a B out by barely a couple of points.
aw i love her! she's like a mom..she brings candy to class! really wants to help her students. it is accounting so it's a little hard and beware homework can take hours! but i love her, take her!!
awesome lady but do your hw she collects it alot... the subject is just hard for somepeople but as a person she is so nice and she bring candy to class alot
I had her to 241 and now 242. She is the best. So nice and esay if you do the homework. She is so helpful if you don't understand something. TAKE HER
Worst teacher of all time...even if you think you have a shot at doing well, she'll try and make everything harder than necessary. She might be nice, but kindness doesn't determine your grade. Spent way too much time telling us how hard she actually was rather than helping. The candy is just a way to say, "Im nice, but you're probably failing"
Molly is awesome, she really does care how well her students do and if they understand the information. She is more than willing to give extra help to you if you don't understand the material. She doesn't MAKE the STANDARDIZED material harder. She merely teaches it in an effective way. The material can be hard, but she doesn't dumb it down.
Prof. Brown is one of the nicest teachers I've had at JMU. She is more than willing to help you both in and outside of class, and will explain things until you understand. Sometimes her clarity could be better, but she makes up for it with her personality! Definitely take her if you can
yea she's nice, but i didn't take her class to be her friend. you leave after a test feeling confident, and then you see your grade and its like, WHAT? her multiple choice questions are incredibly tricky and she likes the fact she's so hard. there are definitely better teachers for 241, good luck!
her tests will kill you. beware!
Pretty Horrible teacher...You'll learn to hate her as the semester goes on. Very unclear and not too helpful during office hours. Just because she brings candy doesn't mean your getting an A...ooooooooor a B for that matter. CLASS SUCKS.
not only do you have the book, but she creates handy-dandy packets for each chapter. she uses the packets to work easy problems in class, and leaves the critical thinking part up to you for the hw. hard? yeah. impossible? no. my advisor said shes the best prof to take for managerial acct. and group cases def help raise your grade.
Molly B. is the best. Recently joined facebook and has a great sense of humor. She really does care about how students do but does not give you any slack. Presents all material in class decently well. Tests are challenging but she isn't in the business of giving out easy A's. Definetely possible to get an A in here if you do the work.
Molly Brown is the schiznit. Her tests are hard but if you practice the problems she gives and go to class, it's an easy B, possible A. Alot of work, but she drops 2 quizzes and 1 homework. Gives Attendance Bonus. TAKE HER.

An excellent accounting teacher. One of the best professors I have had thus far at JMU. As an ex-CPA she teaches you alot and actually knows what she is talking about. I received an A- in the class and as an accounting major she has elevated my interest in accounting. Exams are tough, but read the chapters and redo homework problems to do well.
A good professor. Show up to class and work the problems in class, do the weekly homework, you'll be fine. She prepares you well for the final. No attendance policy, but 5 pts. extra credit on your final grade if you miss 3 or fewer classes. I recommend her.
I love her! She's very approachable, she brings candy/sweets every other day. Explains things crystal clear, and if you don't get it she'll go over it again. You have to study for her tests and read the chapter, but other than that its a breeze.
soo sweet and hilarious! brings candy every week, helps whenever you need it. picks up the pace quickly the last quarter of the semester. usually weekly quiz (5 ?s) and 5 random hw checks (flip of coin). DO HW AND ATTEND CLASS FOR DEMONSTRATION PROBS. SO U DONT FAIL!
She is probably the best professor you can take for 242 but dont think that will make it easy or all make sense! She gives lots of handouts and example problems which are very helpful, but also moves extremely fast and puts a lot of emphasis on students to read and figure out problems on their own
I have a 3.8 GPA but am struggling to not fail this class. She does not teach. All she does is solve random problems in class (by filling in a speadsheet, not actually solving anything.) The tests are made from a question bank and most of the material has never been discussed. STRONGLY advise a different professor!
She was probably the worst teacher I've ever had. Not helpful at all when you go to office hours, uses the wrong calculations on all her handouts, her "examples" are nothing like her tests or the final exam, and completely unsympathetic to anything you say. All the stuff about her being a good professor is BS.
DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS IT IS A LAST RESORT. No curves WHATSOEVER, gets annoyed when you go to her office hours, tests are nothing like her in-class examples, uses the wrong figures when explaining new concepts, rushes through class... She comes off as a nice lady at first, but don't let it fool you. When it comes down to grades, you're screwed.
I learned absolutely nothing from her. Not only did she not teach, but she made her tests really impossible. I am an accounting major and still had to work my ass off and teach myself to pull off a decent grade. I would recommend taking someone different for this class who does not get confused and flustered and give wrong figures during lectures.
awful teacher. seems really nice at first. i failed the second test and it lowered my grade to a C-. i asked her if it was possible for me to pull it up to a B- and she said no. i stuck with it, paid someone 40 bucks a week for two monts to tutor me, and i managed to SOMEHOW get a B-. she sucks. don't take her!
This class was very time consuming and a lot tougher than other classes but it paid off. There is a lot of work involved in the class but if you do all the homework and read the textbook, getting an A in the class is possible. Her tests are somewhat challenging but they over-prepare you for the final which is a breeze.
I don't know what everyone else is talking about (must be marketing majors)... probably the easiest cob 241/242 teacher out there. She is AMAZING at getting the points across to the students in these classes (cost accounting is a different story). You will have to work for the grade, but just 2-3 hours a week will get you an A.
From what I hear from everyone else, she is a lot easier than other professors for this class. Over-prepares you for final. Tests are tough, especially third one. She assigns 5+ HW, drops 1. 6 Quizzes, drops 1. Three tests, and ATC problems, which are like mega HW's that take a while to do. VERY TIME CONSUMING CLASS. YAY COB CORE COURSES.
This class sucks but she is better than most other teachers teaching 242. Tests suck you have to know accounting VERY well. Over prepares for final. Shes nice most of the time, 6 quizzes drops 1, 6 hws drops 1, 2 tests and final worth about 85-90% of grade, takes attendance. I took it during maymester and got a D. Studied about 3-4 hrs a week.
She is an alright teacher. I am taking her now and I got a 66 and a 69 on the first and second test. Tests are 82.5% of your grade so if your not a good test taker do not take her. Can often be confusing in class. No extra credit or rounding of grade. I feel like there could be better professors out there. I wouldnt recomend her...
She's not hard at all. Her exams are fair and she offers a ton of points that will help your grade. If you can survive 343 and 344 you can easily survive this class! She's really nice too.
Accounting is hard no matter who you take. From what I hear from other people, she is probably one of the better professors. Tests are hard and you have to put in a good amount of effort, but she prepares you well for the final.
This woman is literally the definition of the Devil. I'm not kidding you, she lies straight through her teeth. She lies to you about what's on the test and didn't teach an ounce of accounting, all she did was read off the books pre-made slides and if you ask a question she'll make up something irrelevant. Avoid this woman if you want above a C.
Professor Brown is great! If you do all the optional homework problems and study, getting a B is not difficult. This class is hard no matter who you take it with-Molls makes it interesting and dresses fabulously. Take her!
I took her for Maymester, and she was wonderful. She was always willing to clarify concepts for anyone, and homework/attendance wasn't mandatory but gave a chance for extra credit and made topics more easily understandable. She is a very good professor for this course.
Molly Brown was a great teacher. 241 can be a hard class, but she does a really great job at making it seem as simple as possible. There's a lot of work to do, and the class can be kind of slow at times - but if you go to class and do your homework it is definitely worth it.
The best professor to get hands down for either 241 or 242. She's as clear and easy as the course can get and prepares you for the final
One of the better accounting professors at JMU. She explains the concepts quite well along with many examples. Tests are pretty difficult but if you keep up with all the practice and homeworks, you can definitely achieve a B. She also gives bonus points for attendance/homework which is a huge grade booster!
Professor Brown is an excellent professor but gives impossible tests. You are lucky if you are able to finish with enough time to check over your work. She definitely knows her stuff and will prepare you for the final. I recommend her!
Don't take. This was the only C I got in my core COB classes.
Do not take this class, you are lucky if you are able to finish a test and have time to look it over. She laughs at you when you do not understand the material and will insult you. This is the lowest grade I have received out of the 10 BBA core classes.
Impossible tests. However she does prepare you pretty well for the final. Homework on connect helps a lot if you do it.
Molly Brown is wonderful. Her tests are hard but if you're in COB you should be studying anyways. 3 tests and a final + homework and quizzes online. She's more than wiling to help if you need it. Use Connect to study, it's a lifesaver! She's the best 242 teacher you can get, take her!
Take any other section of COB 242 that is not taught by this woman you will not regret that decision. She does not want you to well as reflected in her exams and impossible homework assignments she selects to be completed using connect. Out of the 10 lower core classes this is my lowest grade. This class made me have to drop my Accounting major.
I absolutely loved Molly Brown! I've never taken an accounting class in my life and got an A- in her class. Her tests are very fair but will take almost the entire period so you really have to know what you're doing to do well. I read each chapter prior to learning about it in class which helped a lot. Hard class in general but she's a great prof!
Take Molly Brown if you can!!! The class is challenging but she prepares you really well for the final exam. The homeworks are all online and there are not too bad but sometimes take 1-2 hours. The class handouts are super helpful in reviewing for the tests/final.
3 required Connect assignments per chapter. 1 chapter per week. So basically, you are doing 3 Connect homeworks per week, which absolutely sucks. I would have probably gotten an A in this class if it weren't for the stupid Connect assignments that I regularly forgot about. But, attendance is not mandatory so that good.
Hardest class I've ever taken! Class average on test in the 60's and they're really difficult.
This class is extremely hard! I did every connect assignment (which could take up to 2 hours at a time to complete) and i read every chapter (w/ detailed notes) and i was still unable to pass the first 2 tests, so i had to withdraw. She barely teaches in class and half of every test is free response with not enough time in class to finish.
Well going in i thought it was going to be a hard class but this teacher made it nearly IMPOSSIBLE she doesn't teach and gives horrible lectures. Looking back i would rather have biked across country with a backpack that weighed 300 pounds then enroll in this course she reminds me of gandolfh from lord of the rings because YOU SHALL NOT PASS
Seriously AVOID at all costs. She loves to see her students fail and is not good at teaching in order to prepare you for her ridiculous exams. Almost dropped out of the business school because of her.
Her test are damn near impossible to do well on unless you're good at accounting. I'm not the most studious students but I worked my ass off in this class and never got anything higher than a 79 on a test (she did offer some extra credit to boost up scores). Prepares you well for the final though, got a 92. If you put the work in you can get a B.
I worked so hard in this class and could not pass a test to save my life. This class + Brown was the final straw for my business major and I had to completely change unfortunately. She expects you to teach yourself all of the material and acts like you're stupid if you don't know it - leaving a lot of students afraid to ask questions. AVOID.
She is probably one of the hardest professors, but she knows her stuff. Class is not impossible, but you have to work for the exams. Hard. I recommend her because she prepares you really well for the final. Finished with an A, and there are some extra credit opportunities.
She is a sweet professor, and is more than willing to spend her time helping students understand the material. This class is, however, extremely difficult and her tests are ruthless. I invested 3x as much time into this class than any other and it is the only one I need to retake. Professor is good, material is tough.
I personally really enjoyed Molly's class and I'm taking her again for 242. She is very straight-forward and you know what to study for the tests. Yes, the class is hard and you have to study A LOT.. but Cob 241 is hard in general. Also, she prepares you for the final! I got a 96 on the final and an A in the class. I recommend Mollz.
Molly Brown is a good teacher who really knows and enjoys the material. However she makes it harder than it needs to be and can be rude when asked questions. Still on of the better accounting professors
Molly Brown is probably the best professor to take for 242. Make no mistake, this course is TOUGHT. You will need to put plenty of studying in for her exams, which are quite difficult. Magic Molly Brown is much better than the other accounting professors which I had for 241/have heard of in the COB core ten.
Best teacher for 242. This class is not an easy A and her tests are difficult - but if you just pay attention in class, do the Connect assignments, and study for her tests you will do just fine. She is very helpful during office hours and genuinely enjoys teaching the material. Took her for both 241 and 242 and got A's in both.
Take Molly if you want to self-teach. She relies on connect and group work to teach the class. She was surprised when everyone passed the first exam (apparently a first) so she said she'd make the next test harder. She was disappointed when most students didn't do as well on the second test. My recommendation, take someone else.
Molly is one of the best professors I've had. She is so nice, and loves teaching. She is super helpful. She gives a lot of connect homework that can be easy to forget about, but they are really just there to boost your grade. 3 tests and a final, the tests are pretty easy if you study. Its usually multiple choice and short open ended. Take her!!
Do the HOMEWORK. Yes it is hard and tedious but it will raise your grade at the end of the semester. Expect to put in 4-5 hours of HW/Studying each week. Tests are tough but manageable if you do the homework and put in the effort. Not an easy B.
Molly was so nice but she didn't teach anything. Her "lectures" were powerpoints with vocab from the week's chapter and we only met online one day a week to work on group projects. The weekly chapters are pretty long and in order to do well on the quizzes you need to read them. Overall not too bad bc the material is easy
she acted like everyone was dumb and was not helpful during lectures. we have practice assignments for extra credit which is nice but this class was still all over the place. she left the last week of class to go to Paris, sent another teacher to teach the last difficult chapter of exam, and then wouldn't tell us what would be on the final
Just straight up a stuck up and uncaring individual. Not worth your time, because you aren't worth hers!
she just talked for the lectures reading off the slides, not very helpful in class. tests are hard. office hours are helpful if you can make them. wouldnt recommend, wasn't even supposed to have her as a teacher.
Just horrible teaching. how am i supposed to learn anything when you won't even listen to my opinion.
