She is terrible but class is easy. Worst lecturer I've had but I got a high A and only went to class to take exams.
Not a very good lecturer at all. One of the most boring classes I've ever had. She made the material even more boring by simply summarizing it in class and then at the end she would ask stupid questions to a half-dead room of students.

Easy class, lecture notes online.
Her notes are online but there is nothing to them. It is almost pointless to go to class because she either reads directly off them or talks too fast to write anything down. She gives you all the potentail questions before hand but its difficult finding the answers to them because her notes are slim
Class was boring. She is fair and helpful.
Material was semi-boring, outline notes online, if you actually go to lecture, she writes detailed notes on board. Very easy material, very easy A-B, no studying necessary, just go to class.
She is a really nice person. The class seems pretty straight-forward and for the most part easy. I don't think this class is boring at all.
She is nice, semi workload, only 1 term paper, 1 presentation and 4 2-pages paper. free to go to class.
Notes were not the best, 367.02 was definately the better of the two classes and the one she seemed more suited for. 515 notes were very lacking and tests were pretty tough. 367.02 was a lot of writing. Both classes could be extremely boring.
I had her for 515 and she is very straight forward. You just have to do the assignments and you will be fine. She is really nice and really reasonable, too.
She didn't give a huge workload for a second writing course. She offers to review all papers before the due date so you should end up with a decent grade if you take advantage of this. The lectures are just for listening purposes, don't take notes unles
Absolutely the worst lecturer ever! Unless you enjoy trying to look around her to see the overhead while she stares at it and reads direcly off of it DON'T take her as a prof! Seriously, she just sits on the corner of the desk within arms reach of the projector and reads from it. every once and awhile she'll turn around and read from the screen.
I could learn more from a rock. Seriously, i mean she is the worst lecturer of all time.
Read this very carefully. She may not be the best prof, but she makes the class extremely easy. If you want an easy A, take her. If you want to be enlightened and would like a challenge, take Accounting.
Pretty easy... a term paper, 3 two page papers and a group presentation/debate. Good choice for 2nd writing course
She may not be the best professor in economics but she certainly is the easiest.READ THIS.. HER MIDTERMS COME FROM THE REVIEW QUESTIONS SHE GIVES 4-5 DAYS BEFORE THE EXAM.SHE GIVES 20 QUESTIONS IN THE REVIEW FROM WHICH ASKS 12 ON THE MIDTERM.its and easy A class. Dont miss it.
Teacher has a wide base of knowledge but does not teach it in a way that would make someone already not interested stay away from economics forever. Exam questions are precise and given before the test which is nice but the information never quite stuck with me from the class so it made it slightly hard.
Good class not to difficult just a fair amount of work
Prof. Cooper does not care about teaching this class. She posts low-quality outlines on the Internet and reads them word-for-word in lecture--with no elaboration. If you seek elaboration from her after class, she misses the mark again. Watch 'Guns, Germs, and Steel'--a PBS documentary--but do not take this class. You will be disappointed.
dr. cooper is nice, but it doesn't make up for the low quality of teaching. yes, the tests themselves are easy and yet the class average turned out to be a C. Manner of lecture was dry, (flat out boring) and seemed not to want to be in class at any chance she got. Reads her prepared notes almost verbatim and doesn't elaborate one bit. dissappointin
okay, teacher. likes to laugh at her own jokes
Her notes are so unclear that you're better off reading the two books and ignoring her notes. The only benefit is she gives you all of the possible test questions the week before the exam.
Class is basically framed around issues in 'Taking Sides'. You write 5 2-3 page papers and one term paper. As long as you go to class for the debates, you will have more than enough to write a paper. She is good grader also.
Very good teacher, exams are short answer questions and an essay. But very helpful teacher just pay attention in class and you'll do well. Her quote is "I only give questions not answers"
Everyday I showed up to class with a positive attitude hoping to learn something new and everyday I was slapped down into apathy. Her outlines make no sense. I can't read her handwriting. She mumbles to the board instead of lecturing to the class. She has no command of the subject. She is horribly uninspiring!
The grading system is a little unfair, though she does curve the class. The exams are basically memorization tests. Go to class, however boring, and take notes and be able to memorize them for the tests and you should be fine.
Print the lecture notes and show up to class ready to write as much as you can. Write a lot because she gives you the questions to exams and they come directly from the lecture notes. You do not need to purchase or read the textbook at all. If you need assistance go to office hours and she will help. This class is purely memorization.
The class is boring, she seems bored giving the lectures. She just reads her outlines. But the tests are really easy b/c she gives an exact study guide of whats going to be on the test
Very easy class, she hardly ever goes the full class time and is sometimes done within 20 minutes. The study guides give you the exact questions in advance.
Pretty easy stuff. Class rarely went to bell. Kind of boring. Exams all essay and I would say that writing more BS is preferred to getting right to the point of the question
She's not that interested in the class, but she makes it easy. She rarely goes the whole time. take it for an easy A.
Absolutely terrible. Avoid at all costs! She is a terrible lecturer and her tests are 100% essays. I left every midterm thinking I got an upper 90%, only to receive low 80's a week later. She is inconsistent with her grading almost to the point that it's illegal.Took this class with a friend and would have same answers and get different scores.
Unlike some prior reviews, this teacher did -not- give questions in advance and wanted answers that were directly from lecture, not existing in hard-copy anywhere. Future court stenographers did the best. Top this with a unusually monotone, sleep-inducing delivery. Wow. Lost my 4.0gpa to this class.
I took her for Econ 515 and Econ 516. I got a B in 515 and B+ in 516. Nice lady. Has lecture notes on Carmen but there are large gaps b/c once you get to class, you will be writing a lot! Skim notes after class and read the book as needed. She gives you study guides and exams are online, so you can have your book and notes with you.
She reads directly off of her Word documents in class. There are study guides with all the possible questions for the tests, but no one got a 100% on either midterm or the final. That seems impossible to me if she teaches the material well enough.
Dont get book. Just 3 midterms and a Final. Pure memorization. Really easy class an 8th grader could get an A. Only work done was doing study guide couple days before exam and studying it bc she picks 10 questions from that. Take if you want an A, up to you if you want to learn anything from it.
Do not even bother buying the textbook. Go to class and religiously write down everything she says. She will give 20 possible essay questions for each test and choose 10 randomly. Answers come straight from the notes, so answer the questions first and then memorize. Easy A as long as you take the time to memorize a night or two before.
She makes the class very easy. Copy notes off the board and your good. However it is obvious that she barely knows the subject matter that she is teaching. She is a disagreeable person and for some awkward reason has a hard time keeping a steady loudness when speaking to the class. Easy A while dealing with a horrible teacher.
If you want an easy A, take this course (Freakonomics) and don't ever attend class. She distributes test answers a few days before the tests as a study guide, then selects a few of these. Her lectures are boring to the point of nausea and she isn't understandable unless you sit in the first row. I hated this class with a passion.
She is boring, and will occasionally mark points off your work without much reason or consistency. However, you stand a very good chance to get an A/A- if you do the work and show up to class (attendance is not mandatory, per se, but she does use an online quiz thing to give "attendance" type points).
Molly Cooper is probably the worst professor I've had at OSU. She would pull up a word document and then read as she typed, and that was her lecture. It was mind numbingly boring. I can't even express to you how boring and awful this class was. I am an econ major and I look it because I thought it might be interesting, worst decision I've ever made
Worst Teacher. Boring topic. Bad exam, helps you nothing.
Thought the class would be interesting prior to taking it. I couldn't have been more wrong. All she does is read the notes out loud as she types them; then she gives exams on notes. You can answer exam questions literally word-for-word from the notes and still lose points without any explanation. If you're an Econ major, take a different elective.
It was a hard class. Although you memorized almost every point, you will also lost points without explanation. Not Recommended.
This was the worst class I have taken at Ohio State. Molly Cooper should NOT be a professor at this University. I attended every class, actively took notes, and studied, but for the first two midterms I got a C and D. I went to her office hours one time and she was no help at all on helping me understand what kind of answers she was looking for.
Turrible. Just turrible.
WORST professor EVER!!! I thought it should be fun and easy. Molly Cooper showed no passion to the class. Getting a really low grade even I did well in the midterms. Tried to ask questions and she was mean and helpless. The grades were not fair because I got points deducted even I memorized the notes. Don't take her class!!
Grade is 6 position papers (2-3 pages about current economic issues) which aren't hard and a 10 page final papers, with some participation points mixed in. If you are a good writer you will do well. She gives a lot of feedback about your final paper so that isn't too bad either.
hi this class is easy and simple and she makes it easier by giving you notes. do not forget the lecture and notes all the question are answered in the lecture and do not by the book at all I did and never used it its waste of money
Honestly if you don't get an A in this class there must be something wrong. Show up, fill in the guided notes, fill out the study guides (which are the exact questions on the exam), memorize the study guide word for word. Boom. I thought she knew the subject matter well and could answer any questions you had relating to it in class.
The most boring, monotone lecturer I've ever had. Never have I sat in a class and thought the teacher had less interest in the class than the students did. Tests an be easy if you take the time to study because she gives you the questions that will be on the test. Go to class, take notes, spend a decent amount of time studying, and you get an A.
Her lecture notes are typed into a word document while she reads them off. For me it was hard to keep up because she went pretty fast. She does pause to explain things, though. For tests, she gives reviews with 10 possible questions and picks 5. Do the reviews, memorize them, and you should do well. Make sure to attend class, she doesn't post notes
Worst teacher at Ohio State. You think this class is going to be really easy but it's the complete opposite. Takes off points from your tests even if you give an answer straight from the notes. If you ask why she took off points she gives no explanation. Zero passion to teach and not helpful whatsoever. Shows up, reads off a word doc, and leaves.
I think Molly really lacks a passion about what she is teaching. Her tests are tough in that you have to be EXTREMELY specific. The class is easy if you have the time to memorize 10 essay questions for each test & you have to get the notes from class to do so. The homework was pointless & didn't help w/ anything and you have to buy HER book for it.
Terrible class EVER! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She does not assign any homeworks nor take attendance. Her test was so tough, you need to memorize everything from her lecture notes, which were not posted online, literally you need to memorize 20 more pages notes for her tests. She gives 4 mid terms plus final. The worst class I have ever taken!
In lecture, Dr. Cooper stands behind a podium and types additions to her lecture notes. The only way to copy them all down is to copy them into your notes on your laptop. She gives out Exam Reviews 2 days before the exam which consist of 10 essay questions. 5 appear on the actual exam and if you don't have exactly what she wants, you lose points.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had at Ohio State. She is not resourceful. Only thing she does to teach is write on a word document and you copy it. Her grading is ridiculous. If you ask her a question she feels like your wasting her time. WORST TEACHER EVER. If you sign up for her course, drop it right away!!!!!!
This class is the most straightforward class I've taken at OSU. She gives you 10 essay questions, you need to memorize 5 PERFECTLY. The lectures make me want to eat a knife, but you really need to go in order to get the notes because the exam questions are answered in full during lectures. Easy A if you try at all. Find online version of the book.
She gives you 10 questions and asks 5 on the exam, but it is not necessarily easy memorizing 10 essay questions. You need to go to class for the notes and the questions are straightforward its just hard to get a perfect score on all the questions and she does not curve the class.
Got mad at students for being late 1st day. I've done every homework assignment and have yet to receive a 100% on an assignment. She gives you exam reviews Of 15 essay questions and you have to memorize 7 of them. She loves specifics and examples. Lectures are boring and types the notes during class. Disrespectful to students with questions.
Lots of writing in this class, but I've become a much better writer as a result. She's a tough grader, but Dr. Cooper is very good at preparing for potential graduate school writing.
Every midterm has 7 questions taken from a possible bank of 15. she gives you the questions beforehand but doesn't say which ones will be on the test. In order to get an a on the test you must memorize every answer. does not post notes, and just sits up in front of class reading off of a word document, you take notes on your computer.
The amount of work i have put into this class is insane, especially since i only got a C+... we are expected to memorize 15 answers to long essay questions that are given a few days before the exam, which is extremely difficult because just figuring out the specific answer she wants is impossible. Also, the homework is very difficult and tedious.
Not a particularly difficult class but if you take a class with Molly, at some point you will become frustrated with her. She has a temper and is very monotone and boring during lecture. Homework is easy but her exams are challenging because the grading is volatile and extremely specific. Hopefully you have exactly what she wants.
Dr. Cooper is by far my favorite professor in the Econ department. You can tell she really cares about the subject matter and her students. Very easy to relate to and explains the material in a fun way.
Molly's a decent prof. I had her for Econ 4130 & 4140 - got a B+ in both courses. You're not graded on a ton of things (both classes were homework, a few quizzes, a midterm and final and I think for 4140 we had to write a small paper 5 pages), so try to do a solid job on everything b/c if you tank one thing (especially a test) it will hurt you!
This class was incredibly dry and essentially useless. We covered little to no information that is not basic current events. The lectures were a joke and you just have to show up to answer Tophat questions. There are many papers but they are really short and easy. There is one big final paper and a big group project - both are relatively easy.
She forces you to purchase her book, which is very poorly written, and you have to use it for the homeworks. (Where you have to pick out specific information that is hard to find) Lectures consist of her repeating notes off slides and getting out as fast as possible. It seems like she just doesn't care at all and is just there because she has to be
Even I got an A for sure, I still wish no one in the future should choose her class, she does no deserve to be a professor, force you to buy her fxxking stupid textbook, stupid unhelpful HW, and after all, the exam that will do nothing but waste your time to memorize her boring PPT.
Taking 4130 will be the best decision you ever made
Cooper's lecture is boring while you no need to go to each lesson as long as you can make sure you will review her PPTs before exams. Homeworks all based on her book so you have to buy her book, but the only top score will be counted in your score. There is a lot of content to memorize, but exams are still very simple.
Absolutely horrible professor. Clearly does not teach because she enjoys it but because its what she gets paid to do. Her lectures are awful and you will get nothing from them. She makes you buy a textbook for over $120 that you will not even need. However, the class itself is pretty easy.
either you take 4 tests weighted 25% each or top 3 tests for 60% and a 40% final. She gives a comprehensive review a week in advance to prepare, have of the material ends up on the test. Interesting class if you enjoy history and mildly like econ
She is, hands down, the worst professor I've ever had at Ohio State. She doesn't care about her students, only about her paycheck. Class usually lasts about 20 minutes and she drags through it like she has something better to do. She hates seeing her students do well and grades so harshly with no explanation. DO NOT take ANY class with her.
She is a tough grader but fair. The reviewer below me doesn't know what they are talking about because we have only gotten out of class early like twice. Exams are all extended response so prepare to read a lot to prepare.
Molly was quite possibly the worst professor I have ever had at OSU. She cared very little for her students and graded her tests using extremely specific criteria. The homeworks were also poorly structured becuase the homework questions were just the questions at the end of each chapter. Each chapter being anywhere from 15-45 pages.
Horrible course. The exam for this semester has some changes and become even harder than before. Even though most of exam answer can be found in Internet, you have to take lots of time to remember and the worst thing is those answers will not help you get A, or even A-. DONT TAKE THIS COURSE.
Do not take this class she is a terrible professor and does not care about her students. The people that rated her as a good professor do not know what they are talking about, she is the worst professor I have ever had. Her lectures are like going to a movie in the 60s no one wants to see that anymore as they are extremely boring and look hideous.
First, molly's class is very boring and you don't need to go to the class. She gives you a review one week before the exam, and choose some question from the review to the test. I don't know why she always gives us the review just one week before the exam, for the final, 20 long questions on the review are very hard to remember in 1 week.
HORRIBLE JUST NO MORE WORDS!!!!!!! BORRING LECTURES AND ZERO MOTIVATION TO TEACH. SHE GRADES THE EXAMS AS AS IF EVERYONE IS A GRAD STUDENT. PLEASE DONT TAKE THIS CLASS OR GET READY TO WRITE A WHOLE ESSAY ON EXAMS. GOOD LUCK
Bad attitude when you send email to her. Doesn't want to help student at all. Have to write essay during exam and really tough grade you will get. Borning lecture and barely can get any curve.
I had Molly Cooper for ECON 4140 (Economic History of the Americas). The course consisted of Top Hat, weekly Packback, two midterm exams, and a final exam. The course was conducted online, and the midterm exams and final exam were proctored via Respondus. Top Hat questions were due before the start of lecture, so class attendance was not mandatory.
Shes hard grader. She and the TA had double standards on grading exams. They even grade the multiple choices questions differently. So be ready to hold on to your luck if you take her course. Zero motivation to teach. Not accessible at all. She DOES NOT care about her students. She had bad attitude when student ask her questions.
If you do well on the tophat, midterms, and you do the packsacks each week, you should end the course with an A- or A and you will not need to take the final.
The worst professor I had ever met in OSU. And she totally worth for the score rated.
If true extra credit is not shown until the final week, whats the meaning of the freaking extra credit?
Probs one of the worst professors Ive had. Never went over hw or math and felt like she was never prepared for the class. Taught myself tbh, the book barely helps w the hw that she never goes over or teaches. Got a good grade but thats all me, and the extra credit and the stuff she takes out of the grade book helps too.
Does not care for students. Also does not seem to understand the material that she is teaching which makes it difficult to follow and understand. Seems to try and figure out the material being taught as she goes.
If you do tophat questions, you will pass.
BAD good professor at all. No care for students understanding and not understand any of your reasons if you miss something. YOU HAVE TO PAY for textbooks and homework. FOR HOMEWORK!! almost $100 and not use textbook ever. dont know what she is teaching and you will have to teach yourself if you want the grade for hw bc she wont cover all material.
She's awful. Talks about how she needs to randomly cancel class to tend to her sick daughter but then when a student needs accommodations she could not care less. If you email her she will never respond, so good luck. Test heavy, TopHat heavy. Lectures are pointless, reviews for exams are useless, Molly Cooper is clearly in it for the paycheck.
Does not care about students, reads off from slides, if you miss the lecture good luck trying to catch up, have to pay almost $100 for a textbook and homework, a lot and lot of homework, very test heavy, have to teach yourself, no help in office hours either, you can clearly see that she does not care even when giving the lecture
I taught myself through this class. If you dont go to class you will not get notes and no zoom for you even if you give a valid reason. Skips over notes and even after asked atleast 25 times she will not upload the notes for students to read them. If you missed them good luck learning from a textbook that you have to pay $75 for.
DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE! She never care about her students, even you tell her about your delimma and difficulties, she will not care about it. Just do not choose her course.
Easy class as she gives us like 12% of extra points. You need to go to lecture everytime to take notes and the tophat questions could be found on google, you just need to follow every question. She gives a great chance of dropping lowest grade of homework and test, so do well in the beginning you won't need to take final.
Rude. Inaccessible. Acts like someone pissed in her cheerios every morning when you ask her a question. (I took this in the Fall when the weather is nice so no excuse for seasonal mood swing)
ppt reader
Very nice person and very accessible, but not a good teacher. Lectures are droning and read straight off of dense, paragraph-filled slides while most of the class goes on Twitter. I really like economic history and found it hard to stay awake. Not bad if you're looking for an easy A (if you put in a little effort), but man it was boring.
No respect. Rude, unaccommodating, boring. So hard to stay awake. Reads off ppt, doesn't post notes/go over hw. No fluctuation voice, slow, monotone "um...the trade deficit..was..umm" Like don't you know what you're talking about? Encourages people to not take the final even when grade could improve? Avoid taking w her.
She obviously did not want to be there. Loves trailing off and facing the board the whole time. Reads off the PowerPoint. Posts the slides without blanks filled in so you can't study anything you missed. If you miss something she says good luck with your notes. Uses 3rd party software for homework so it's not on Carmen. The class was easy though.
She just terrible, she just read trough her lecture and she stops a lot, a lot, she mumbled through a lot of things, She just a terrible at reading her lecture. She does not familiar with her materials. She asked to buy the books, and the book was written by her. The book is not necessary at all. She just make us to buy book so she can make money.s
Hardly could hear when she spoke. She slurred her words and often cancelled class. Presentations have information but filled with so much useless information takes a long time to go through it and presentation theme is so boring, paying attention is difficult.
Easy grading system. High extra credit with lots of chances of dropping assignments.
Lectures are dry and unhelpful - better to teach yourself using the pricey textbook and homework. Luckily, the class is easy, and Unstuck ai can help with study prep.
Lectures were incredibly dry and filled with lots of useless details and information. Exams were extended response and had a high expectation for details that she would call out in her lectures.
Extremely easy class with tons of extra credit opportunity. It is basically just a normal history class. The tophat and tests are a breeze and I would recommend for anyone who needs an econ credit. She is also very kind.
There is absolutely no indication that she cares about her career at all. She clearly does not want to be there when lecturing (hence why she cancels class half the time) and is useless when compared to the textbook. Class was super easy so I guess if you want a GPA booster, go for it, but she is the worst professor I have had up to this point.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had. The class was hybrid, so all exams were in-person, and lectures were online. She cares about the student understanding the material and gives a really good curve at the end of the semester.
