She is pretty new, but already really good at teaching. Anytime I would have any trouble with any of the material I would visit her and she would make sure I understood by the time I left. She also explains in words and not just formulas which was helpful for me. Prior to tests she give out study guides that are super helpful as well!
Good instructor. Better at teaching applications/concepts than she is at methods, though.
Very nice, and extremely helpful and descriptive with all problems!
This class was so much easier than Calculus I. She writes out and explains every single problem. There is a webassign for every section, but they are just like the examples from class. She provides a short study guide and practice/previous exams. She takes attendance, but it doesn't count towards your grade. It helps to go to class though!
I took Calc B with her, and coming from Calc 1 it was a breeze. If you are pretty good at math this class is an easy. She explains everything very well and goes very slowly. Her practice tests are very similar to the real ones.
Dr. Fenn is awesome! Attendance is optional (but I recommend it). She makes it very clear what will be on the test. She's very helpful and enthusiastic about teaching. I took Calc 1 in high school and Calc 2 with her was super easy. The textbook is rarely used except that it has practice problems in it.
Alright professor. Hard to compare anyone to the great professor I had in calc 1, Dr. B! Class is boring but easy.
She was by far one of the most helpful and responsive profs I've had at State. She goes slowly and breaks down every problem, so unless you don't pay attention or come to class, it's a breeze.
Best math instructor I've ever had (in my entire life). Thoroughly breaks down every problem, explains things in a very understandable manner, and is very helpful. Genuinely seems interested in your questions. Exams are similar to the study guides/practice exams. Each WebAssign has 10 submissions, so you should get a 100, and attend
Very helpfully easy to talk too, will work with you to help you understand. You have to try to fail this class
Dr. Fenn is extremely nice, approachable, and thorough with her explanations. She truly seems to care about every student and will go out of her way to help. Tests are just like the practice tests and study guides. She's one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Definitely take her if you can!
Dr. Fenn is one of the nicest teachers I think I've had. She is very helpful, patient and clear. I would take a class taught by her any day.
Dr. Fenn was super helpful and nice. She was very willing to help you if you got confused and sometimes even helped with homework problems in class. Her tests were easy if you attended class and did the homework. Overall, she was a great teacher and I recommend you take her class.
Molly Fenn is an incredible teacher. She has a gift. She made a class that's difficult seem easy. I would definitely recommend. She's also really Really hot.
Molly is the best professor I have ever had. She teaches by example, so the material is really easy to understand. And her tests are easy because she gives an almost identical practice test. TAKE THIS CLASS.
Dr. Fenn will change your life. She is gifted, able to make a hard topic seem elementary. She posts a practice test which is a mirror image of the actual online. She is so calm, and receptive, and the nicest professor I have had. It is a tricky class, but she makes it so simple. She should be teaching how to teach, let some others learn from her.
Dr. Fenn is great! She is a good at teaching math and if you pay attention in her class you should be ready for her tests!
Dr. Fenn is one of the best math professors I have ever. The class is hard but of you go, pay attention, and do the homework you will do well. She is the kind of professor that I would take any class she is teaching. If you can, take 242 with Fenn. Also, the maple is really easy.
Great Calc III professor. She doesn't try to screw you over with unnecessarily difficult derivatives and integrals on the exams and instead tests for your knowledge of the subjects taught in the class. Clearly explains material and is open to questions. Also all of our exams were graded super quickly.
Dr. Fenn is a smart and kind professor. She cares about student success and does a great job explaining Calc III concepts. Her exams are straightforward, nothing bizarre or too complex. If you can take Dr. Fenn, do it!
Dr. Fenn is the BEST professor I have ever had at State! I had her for MA 225, and MA 407. She is excellent at explaining practically any concept, and teaches in a way that you are able to figure out exactly the material with her guidance. Truly amazing woman. She is always so receptive to questions and really cares about your understanding.
Dr. Fenn's class was easily my favorite of the semester. Her lectures are short and clear just like the tests and homework for the class. She is probably my favorite math teacher ever. There are sample tests on Moodle that are pretty much what you can expect on the actual test. Loved her class. 100% recommended
Best math teacher I've had in years! From someone who hates math, Dr. Fenn makes this class bearable and even enjoyable. Great practice exams and very helpful if you have a problem with the homework. If you go to class and keep focused thought the semester, you will make a good grade. Great teacher, definitely take her class.
Dr. Fenn is an awesome professor. She is super smart, nice, and helpful. She's completely fair when grading and her lectures are clear and straightforward. Definitely recommend her as a professor.
Professor Fenn is the best professor at NCSU. Her lectures and methods make calc 2 a joy to learn. Going to class will benefit you. Practice tests are provided that mirror the real exams. Webassign isn't bad at all. She's calm and gets kinda goofy when she makes mathematical mistakes which is awesome. This class was painless thanks to Dr. Fenn!!
Very patient and not patronizing at all. Very clear and wants the students to understand the material. She is also my advisor and she is as great there as in the class room.
Dr. Fenn is the best math professor I have had. Her practice tests make it clear what is expected for the actual exam. Took this class as a hybrid (only went to class one day a week, had to do online lessons/notes before class) and it was still easy. Dr. Fenn is very good at explaining and very eager to help. She makes calc 2 simple.
I took the online form of MA114(Finite Math) and this was by far the easiest college course I have ever taken. Basically all the homework is on WebAssign and you got 50 tries to pass each question. As for the tests, you get 3 TRIES PER QUESTION. I made 100s on every test because they were direct representations on what was learned in the homework.
Literally a GOD SENT FROM HEAVEN. Linear Algebra was tough, but Dr. Fenn made it sooooo easy!! She doesn't post notes online (unless it's something that's really needed) though, so you'll need to make a friend.
Best Calculus professor I've ever had. Explains the material thoroughly and clearly, answers questions, responds quickly to emails, never makes you feel embarrassed to ask something in front of the huge lecture hall, extremely helpful and easy to talk to. Tests are not made to trick you, if you can take Dr. Fenn you will not regret it!!
Dr. Fenn is literally the LOML. She is a great professor they gives clear feedback on the exams and explains everything very well in class. She understands you are a person first and will accommodate you for whatever need you may need. The exams are super easy if you practice the practice material. She isn't out to get you unlike other NCSU prof's
Took her hybrid class. I was horrible at calculus 1 but her tests reflected the practice tests really well and it was amazing! Study the practice tests! Large portion of the grade is homework/pre class work for the hybrid course. No extra credit and does not round up so DO ALL HOMEWORK! It is a huge contributor to your grade! Highly reccomend
Probably the best math teacher I've had since middle school. Her tests are exactly like the homework and examples in lectures. The material itself is easy too. She is very good at explaining the concepts, I actually feel like I had a firm grasp on everything we learned.
Dr. Fenn is great! Her lectures are very easy to follow and the homework is pretty easy and worth a lot of your grade in comparison to other classes. She is very easy to access outside of class. Overall, this is an awesome professor.
I took this class as a hybrid, and it wasn't bad at all. Dr. Fenn is the kindest math teacher I've ever had, and she is great at explaining things.
Mollys hybrid class was a breeze. Her and another male professor were the best lecturers. Her tests are literally the same as the practice exam plus 2-3 extra, simple questions.
I absolutely loved professor Fenn!! Best professor Ive had thus far! She is an incredible teacher and I rarely left class confused!
If you have the chance to take Dr. Fenn, DO IT! She is the best Math Professor I've ever had and she is so willing to help outside of class and over emails/zoom whenever you're struggling. I had some personal issues occur during the semester and she was very understanding and worked with me to get assignments/exams completed! 10/10 recommend her!!!
Fenn is a great professor. Her lectures are easy to follow, explained well, and broken up nicely. The test questions were similar to homework problems. Tests were open notes too. Tests were weighted heavily, however, so make sure to study! She and the TAs were always very helpful.
I could barley pass algebra 1 in high-school and managed to get an A in Fenns Calc 2 class. Fenn is amazing at explaining things and seriously the most understanding professor I have met here. Seriously try your best to get her especially if math is not ur strong subject. Tests are easy and there is only like 1 webassign a week.
Take it with Fenn! She's a really good teacher, and she posts her notes on moodle which is helpful. HW is a good chunk of your grade, but exams are fairly straightforward and like the practice exams. She sets her class to where you can do it either asynchronously or in person since she posts lectures/notes online. Glad I got to take it with her.
Shes great, this class was an easy A for me. Legit blew off this class and still ended up with an A+. All tests were open notes and her tests replicated what was on practice exams. If I had another chance I would definitely take her again. I had the textbook but didnt really use it, you dont need it she provides a lot of extra practice.
Dr. Fenn is incredibly nice. Class isn't mandatory because she posts videos of her lectures and notes online, however I find going to the lecture helpful. Her handwriting is a little messy but if you ask her what something says she with tell you. There are only two tests worth 40%, final worth 25%, and homework worth 35%. Tests are open note.
Im going to start by saying MA 231 was easier than 131. The online lectures aren't always great, but through the class forum any question are easily answered. The tests aren't too difficult if you do the lessons which took like 2 hours a week. Overall, I really enjoyed this class and would recommend taking it online and GOING TO RECITATION!!
Dr. Fenn is extremely sweet and helpful. The material is taught through videos, and they do a pretty good job of getting the point across. The homework assignments are normally easy and she responds very quickly if you have questions. One of the best math professors I've had, she is really caring and clearly knows what she's teaching.
Dr. Fenn took over for the original instructor slightly before spring break, and since then, the class has been really good. Her lectures do a good job with understanding the material. Tests are short, and simple if you study. Would take Dr. Fenn for a future class.
Very knowledgeable, approachable, and nice professor. She is so open to helping you during the in-person portion and for the asynchronous work, there was a Q&A section that she throughly checked and helped you do the webassigns. Overall really top-notch professor. Take if you can!
I loved this professor and I would definitely take her class again. I am not a big fan of math but the way she teaches makes me love it.
Ms. Fenn truly understands that for students to comprehend mathematical concepts, that there needs to be a real world equivalency to show its importance and usage. i love the way she teaches the material in class and provides us with many opportunities to practice and make sure we understand the material.
Love Dr. Fenn, she was so sweet. Her class wasn't too bad, hw for the whole semester was released to get ahead if needed. hw due every thurs and mon. only 2 tests and a final and is basically your whole grade so do well. two part tests where MCQ was at delta and FRQ were open note and online. all the lectures were pre-recorded vids.
Dr. Fenn is one of the best math professors I've ever had! She teaches the material extremely well and has truly made an impact on the way I learn math. She is very passionate and understanding and wants her students to succeed! Truly grateful to have taken the class with her.
best ma 231 prof and I loved the hybrid format. Friday sessions were optional but i rly recommend going to understand the material. It's not a hard class but practice is helpful- you could definitely get by from just completing modules but the materials on there for review were super beneficial. dr. Fenn is super helpful and a great teacher overall
Professor Fenn was a great teacher and I enjoyed her hybrid class. I struggled in calc 131 and her class was easy enough for me to take online and still understand what was going on. She was very fair and would help with hw if you needed it. Also other than watching the lecture modules, there was not much hw. Her tests were very easy too.
Fantastic professor, very accessible and nice. Makes though content accessible!
TAKE FENN!!! Goodness, I want to marry this woman. I struggled and barely passed 131, but she made 231 so accessible and understandable. There's a forum where you can post and get help from other students and she responds very frequently as well. Tests and HW is very very easy and if you need help, she makes it so very simple. 100000/10.
Dr. Fenn is a God send to math. She has an incredible ability to explain everything in terms that anyone could understand. The class does not take much time, and the tests are pretty easy. She genuinely cares about her students and is very understanding. Would 100% recommend her to anyone and everyone. I love Dr. Fenn.
I took this class hybrid. She is very accessible outside of class and if you need help you can post on the forum. The teachers respond quickly. The videos are also easy to follow and understand.
Exams are worth a total of 65% of your grade so if you mess up on 1 you are kinda in a bad spot, she also doesn't really give extra credit so you have to have like a 99 on the HW to pass her class with a decent grade, she teaches great, the exams are in delta and are kinda funky, like some of what you learn isn't even on the first exam
best math professor on campus. if you actively listen to her lectures, there's no way you can fail the class. She's just that good at explaining the material.
Molly is a great professor. I recommend taking her for MA 231 if you are able to. This was a hybrid class, which wasn't bad at all. She does well at preparing you for the exams, especially with practice exams. The material can be confusing, but she allows students to ask for help on the homework and explains the material well during class.
Dr.Fenn is amazing!! She made math so much easier even though it was a hybrid class. Class meets once on Fridays and it is optional. I would really recommend going, but even if you do not she records it. The class is pretty self explanatory with her giving you everything you need to know. As long as you keep up with the work you will be good.
The videos are really confusing and hard to understand. If you are able to teach yourself this course would be fine. The practice test were actually really helpful. I wouldn't take this after 141 either because the terms are way different for the same thing. She's an okay professor but overall I struggled even though math is my strong suit.
I really enjoyed this class and has an A before the final. I'm my final which I had earned an 89.63 she did not round up despite the class average being a 78. If made me depressed because I put in a considerable amount of effort in the class, and it hurt me on a personal because I really like calculus.
She was the best mathematics professor I have had at state. If you have the opportunity to take her class absolutely do it. I have met with her on a weekly basis and she has been caring and worked through any questions that I might have. She is more than understanding about the stress that students can be under and cares about her class.
Highly recommend. Most lecture videos are straightforward and she tries her best to make calc easier. The homework isn't too much and she has a Q&A forum where you can ask questions and she basically gives you the answer. The exams are exactly like the practice exams she posts. Super nice and understanding.
Dr. Fenn is a great professor. You can tell she really wants her student to succeed. She is very helpful with homework questions and gave practice exams which were very similar to the actual exams. Attendance is not required, but keeping up with the online lessons and lectures is important. Put in the work and you will succeed!
Very very nice. She is really good at explaining the basics of calc that you have prob forgotten as she goes through problems/concepts so you dont get lost along the way. She gives practice questions and tests that are just like the exams. HW prepares you really well for exams.
Ms.Fenn is FABUOLOUS. I've never met a math teacher who loves what she does as much as her! Shes very very helpful in every way and sets you up for success for everything. Tests are super fair and are much like the work done. TAKE HER!!!
Easy class due to the way things are structured. Professor Fenn is easy to reach and her feedback is very helpful. There is a textbook available to purchase, but it's not really used.
I liked this class, especially online. We had 1-2 hrs of lecture videos every week, with 2 corresponding HW's that took maybe 1-2 hrs, depending on length. I did hybrid and the Friday class was optional (so I never went). The most important thing to do is the test review before each of the tests and you'll be fine. They are just like the tests.
Dr. Fenn was great! The hybrid model for her class is convenient when balancing other challenging courses. I recommend attending the once-a-week in-person classes and doing the test review to succeed in here. Fun class overall though!
I loved her! She taught the material in a very easy-to-understand way. She gave plenty of guidance on what to study for the tests. It was hybrid so we only had a class on Fridays with optional attendance, and she would post what we did on Moodle. She was very nice and easy to get in contact with outside of class.
only problem was when other professors were used for the online lecture videos or we would learn topics that were never on the tests/hw
Such an amazing professor. You will be extremely well prepared for tests, of which there are only 2 and are on Moodle and align directly with the practice exam. Video lectures were not excessive in length. Dr. Fenn is very accessible outside of class and is so kind and helpful.
TAKE DR FENN'S CLASS. She is a fantastic prof who really cares about her students. Two short homework assignments per week, a 1-2 hrs online notes, and optional Friday classes. Two exams that are very easy. She makes math so simple and not a chore to learn. I wish she taught every math-based class at NCSU. 100/10 class and professor, God bless her.
Dr. Fenn was one of the nicest professors I've had at state. She makes math really easy to understand and she's also super kind and helpful. Her class is hybrid and attendance isn't mandatory, but I would definitely recommend going for help on the homework. Definitely take her if you can.
Dr. Fenn is the BEST, most passionate math teacher I've had my entire life. She is caring and very accommodating; when I had trouble getting my final exam scheduled with DELTA, she was very willing to let me take it with her. The material is very straightforward and she provides AMAZING lectures; weekly attendance is optional. God bless Dr. Fenn!
Dr. Fenn is amazing! The way she explains math just make sense. She is always so kind and helpful. Her tests reflect her practice exams and she gives practice problems as well as in class problems before each test. I was confused a lot in MA131 (bad professor), but she made MA231 feel like a breeze. Attendance not mandatory, but the sessions help!
I LOVE Dr. Fenn! Only two tests, but they are very similar to the practice exams. Homework is worth 40% of your grade so do it and you should be fine. Not a difficult course or difficult material, but if you struggle she is always there and has a forum.
I just am horrible with tests to explain my grade, but she is definitely one of the best.
Dr. Fenn is wonderful, caring, and understanding. Great teacher. The lectures were lowkey irrelevant to the exams... Practice exams are the most important thing b/c they are most similar to the exams. When I only watched lectures I got a B-, but when I prioritized the practice exams I always got A's on them. I met with her before exams = v helpful.
I took the hybrid version of MA 231 and Dr. Fenn made it really easy to follow along on problems. The practice problems prepared you well for the tests, and the tests were pretty easy. She's quick to reply to emails with questions and actually wants students to do well. Also makes your best grade weighted more which is helpful at the end of the sem
Dr. Fenn is so so sweet and understanding. You get lots of attempts on the homework and plenty of resources to prepare for tests. Some of the online lectures were difficult to grasp the concept of, but she has a space where you can ask questions on the moodle page! Still a challenging class but if you put the work in it is very doable.
Barely got a C in calc 1, may finish this course (calc 2) with an A+. Dr. Fenn is amazing, gives homework that is relevant to what we do in class. Hybrid course which was scary at first but the videos are clear and gives optional recitation on Friday's with office hours available throughout the week. Tests are VERY similar to her practice exams.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Fenn. Online videos are split between three professors, and Dr. Fenn's are by far the easiest to follow along with. Classes are optional but I highly recommend going because they are super helpful. She gives free 7-day extensions on every assignment and the tests are exactly like the practice tests.
Hybrid class. The test are like the study guide, there is a lot of extra practice and Dr. Fenn is always willing to help. Make sure to watch the videos, do the study guides and the practice questions
lol my grade was so low bc I missed class a lot my first few weeks and it was hard to come back from that, dr. was super nice and helpful though. the class was hybrid so most of the learning was done urself GO TO THE IN PERSON CLASS i promise to helps. this class is super test heavy w a cumulative final so you need to know what your doing.
One of the best professors I had. Clearly explained the material in a way that helped me to succeed, and was always available to answer questions.
Great teaching dynamic, with plenty of help through homework, videos and practice problems. Easily accessible, with the course being fully online. Makes hard content very easy to learn! Definitely recommend
Great professor and very reachable outside of class. Go to her office hours as they are 1 on 1 and very helpful. Great class.
Super easy to understand and makes calc seem super simple. Honestly I feel like I barely tried and passed with an A. Just did practice tests on repeat before the exams and I'd get an A, make sure you understand everything in the practice tests. Took it as a hybrid class and honestly expected it to be harder due to that, but it was definitely easier
The greatest to ever do it.
Dr. Fenn was GREAT! I truly could not have asked for a better calc 2 professor. She explains things so clearly and structures her class so well. She makes it clear how to succeed in her class and is very accessible outside of class! She's so kind and helpful and genuinely wants us to succeed. If you have the chance, TAKE THIS CLASS. She's the best!
Dr. Fenn was the best! Her teaching is incredible, and her tests are exactly like the practice tests she gives! Also, her lectures are online, or you can go in class!
Dr Fenn is so sweet and MA 231 is the easiest continuation of MA 131 of all time. The homework is super short and the practice tests are practically identical to the real tests. The weekly classes are optional but Dr Fenn can give u 1-1 help if u need it. She also responds really fast to the question forum on Moodle. She's great.
Her notes and videos for the second unit are terrible. She does not elaborate upon her answers in her solutions, so if you don't understand, then it's extremely difficult to follow her work. She skips steps and assumes you know it, so if you aren't 100 percent solid in your calc 1 foundation it can be extremely difficult to know what she's doing.
Never went to the Friday in person class and did fine. She posts videos for every lesson and there are a lot of videos which help when learning. I personally did not watch most of them and was good. The practice tests are the same as the tests with different numbers. If you can do those then you're good. Very easy and straight forward class.
Soooo much easier than Calc 1 IMO. One online class a week with excellent test review materials and practice tests that are 99% identical to what you see on the actual test. Lecture recordings available and can schedule when you want to take your own test through the DTC. If you have the chance to take her for MA 231, DO IT. Such a breeze.
I had Dr. Fenn for my Calculus two course mind you I hadn't taken Calculus one for a year before taking this class. She explains concepts so well and is so nice. 100% helped my confidence and understanding when I went to her office hours. Love her class if I could have her for any other classes I would she's amazing! (I got all A's on the exams)
I lowkey forgot that I was taking this class half the time but managed to get an 80, which she actually rounded up for me from a 79.7. Tests are pretty similar to the practice tests she gives but sometimes there were questions I was unfamiliar with. Overall she was nice and was good at giving clear, easy to follow lectures.
