Its helpful that she has her powerpoints online but in class, she goes way too fast & lets the class leave 30 min early. That would be nice except she grades really hard on the essays she assigns and doesn't really make it clear what she wants. She also assigns random inclass work that you can't make up if youre gone and doesnt give much feed back.
Mrs. Mooney is not very helpful or explanatory. She doesn't give very many assignments, but the assignments she does give you have little to no idea what to do on the assignment. You can ask her questions but I feel like that still doesn't get the job done. She does let you out early 3 of 4 days a week which is nice. She's a tough grader
Molly was my favorite teacher this quarter. She works hard to show you what you need to do for your papers. She only assigns four papers and there is a mandatory peer review day. Make sure you show up for peer reviews or you will fail the class. Attendance is always mandatory, but she is really great at emailing back if you need help with anything.
Lectures take up most of the time. Used the textbook maybe once. A lot of easy group projects, but the essays... they were graded so harshly. I have never gotten a lower grading on a paper than when I was in this. Barely any tests. The final was easy. Journals were easy. But the papers will screw you over. Helpful when asked. That's it though.
Ms. Mooney's class was not fun for a majority of students that had here class. She creates papers that should have been done in English 101 and her assignments make no sense. If you e-mail her about a question, she'll answer, but not with a clear message. Very disappointed.
Great teacher!!! Only holds class three days a week and let's you out 20-30 minutes almost everyday! Always there to help answer questions for you. 4 essays over the quarter, but she totally gives you plenty of time. If you put some effort in, you will get an A. No textbook, and online discussions over reading she prints for you.
M. Mooney is a good professor, she is very helpful and understanding. One other thing I liked is that she gives a good explanation on what the assignment is when assigned.
M. Mooney is a great professor, and would help with any given assignment as long as you ask for it. Another thing I liked is that class was only held 3 day out of the week.
I have never been in a funner class! Being a huge Harry Potter fan, I loved the way Ms. Mooney dressed up as a different H.P. character every day of the week! She pulled off Professor Snape pretty well, but I have to say my favorite look of hers was definitely Lord Voldemort. If you enjoy lectures about magic and muggles, this is the class for you!
I loved this class! My favorite part was that she brought her 9 pet cats everyday! They just roamed around the classroom, which was entertaining! The only downside to this was when one of them, Felix, attacked a student and sent her to the hospital. Don't worry, I heard she made a full recovery! :) Other than that, the class was totally awesome!
Ms. Mooney seriously needs to get with technology. The days of lecturing from a textbook are over. If I wanted to be taught what the textbook said I wouldn't have signed up. There's a little tool called Power Point. All she did was talk, talk and talked some more.
This was an interesting class to say the least. The teacher was good and the class wasn't too hard, but when she brought in her possums every Wednesday kinda made me wanna drop the class. The possums would run across the desks and one of them almost attacked my friend. And it didn't help that she would talk to the possum all class and not teach.
Mooney is a great teacher! It's only Monday-Wednesday. Thursdays are optional because that's the day she sits in class all day training her parrots to grade. So if you want entertainment on Thursdays, I'd suggest going. Also, beware, for the final, you go to Memorial Pool and do a swim test and have to rescue her cat named Candycane, from a tree.
This class was not all it cracked up to be. I mean, it was easy and all. The only problem I had was that we were required to do 50 pushups before she would even let us start on our essays. She said, and I quote, you have to work physically to get your brain working mentally. Otherwise, your essays will be crap. Mine were crap.
English 102 was the funniest English class I have ever taken. The teacher really made the class interesting. Every day she brought our class snacks for no particular reason. She told us that her snacks would give us brain power. And those snacks surely did. I was always alert in her class. I understood all her lectures and did great on assignments
easiest ever. Only 2 essays on anything of our choice, no homework, test or final. Two hr classes a week. Only 1st and last day are mandatory. Everything turned in by last day, no due dates, automatic A on paper if turned in. Basically watched a bunch of classic movies over class time. Gives warning ahead of time if watching horror.
This class was so much fun! The best day was when Professor Mooney brought five rattlesnakes to class and we got to play with them while she was lecturing. The best English class I have ever taken!
ENG 102 was an easy breeze, I would say even easier than ENG 101. The only downside was the amount of money we had to pay for cat food each week. She said that she doesn't make enough money to buy cat food. The more cat food we brought in the higher our grade went, the less cat food the less of a grade. How does she need this much cat food!!?
This was my favorite class @ CBC. We learned how to catch and train our own pet squirrels. To get an A+, the squirrel had to learn how to water ski though.
Every Thursday we had no lecture, and instead would take naps. We were graded on our nap length and the longer we napped, the better our grade would be. I passed with an A, sleeping comes naturally to me. I would definitely take another class from Ms. Mooney.
I thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Mooney's English 102 class, but be aware of her unique grading system. She rewards her students with treats for good work and road kill for poor. On our first day of class she advised us to bring our own air freshener. It was good advice.
liled the class, but during every lecture she brought up how much she loves her cat, mr. cuddles. She brought him in During class one day and made all of us pet him for a test grade. I'm allergic to cats.
I really enjoyed taking this course. This English class helped me understand the basic formatting of essays and work cited. My favorite part of the course though was the ice cream parties every Thursday. I would definitely take this class again.
I loved taking this class! The past experiences I had with English teachers at CBC were not the best, but Ms. Mooney was awesome! The only odd thing about this class was every day before departure we would have to stand in a circle, hold hands, and sing theme songs from her favorite Disney movies.
She was wonderful but the pink glass eye kind of weirded me out. And I really don't k ow what was up with the naked mole rat. She never even mentioned why it was there.
Molly is a dragon that breathes fire. Her class is one of bravery and honor. Honor in the work, bravery to accept her grading challenge. Essays are graded with live or perish. I lived.
The class was not bad, but I'm so glad that I will not have to write another essay!
She was easy to understand except on the days she forget to draw her eyebrows in. On those days, it was hard to read her expressions. Her guidelines for each major assignment were printed on neon color paper. It made it so I could quickly find the guidelines among the plethora of other papers that always end up in my backpack.
Great teacher! Gave a ton of feed back on every essay. Very understanding and tries to help students. Favorite English teacher by far. Class was only 3 days a week which was very nice! Only bad part was the readings once a week with responses to what you read. But there was no text book which is nice! Would recommend her for sure!
Ms. Mooney's class was an experience. Her determination to turn every lecture into an opera was admirable. Though this initially made it difficult to take notes, I learned to record her lectures so that I could carefully listen to and review them later.
We used to not have class on Fridays but she was told we had to come so we started a bug fight club and I got extra credit for having the strongest bug!
She is one of those teachers that gets into the material she's teaching. One day she came into class in a word suit. A huge word and you could see her face. It said word. Like those banana costumes but it was word. Some days she did other things but that one stood out. Very good teacher though, and clearly very passionate about what she teaches.
Molley Mooney, has done an amazing job teaching me. At the beginning of class I had the mindset that I could write just about anything. That definitely changed, English is not as easy as I thought it would be. Mooney, requires you to do your assignments in best interest of your grade and learn the course work in order to pass the class.
This was an amazing and fun English class to take. My only problem with the class was the fact that we were only allowed to type our essays using type writers and had to use a minimum of 100,000 words.
The class was amazing. My favorite part was being able to pet the chinchilla, although it was a little odd to have to pet him before we could start our day.
This class was the craziest class I have ever taken. i thought about dropping it the first couple weeks, because she brought all of her animals to class with her. We had a baby giraffe sitting next to me while she lectured wordiness. But other than that she was awesome! Try your best on the tests, there is always good feedback to look forward to:)
Mooney was an good teacher, but on Thursdays, we always went outside and watched her do her crazy "fire breathing" shows. She did them way too close to us, and I was in the front one time, and the end of some of my hair caught on fire. I put it out before anything actually happened, but it was terrifying nonetheless!!!
This was the most interesting English class I've ever taken. I'd compare my experience to that of a "Magic School Bus" class, with field trips and everything. We almost never met in the classroom. One of the coolest days though was when Miss Mooney had a firepit in the soccer field and challenged us to walk through a bed of coals for extra credit.
Best English teacher I have ever had. Helps you in every way possible. She made class fun because it wasn't the same thing every day. I used to struggle with English now I don't because of her so if you are sol English I would take her.
Mrs. Mooney for English 101? Awesome class for sure. Although one thing that threw me off was how much she'd talk about her tragic break up stories. She even cried several times while talking about it. She talks SOOO much about her break ups, that it takes up most of our class time and we hardly ever received homework. Rad class.
I absolutely loved this class, maybe because I love writing long essay's. Mrs. Mooney is super helpful she even invited me over for dinner to help me with my essay! Although I did find it a little weird that she made us write a 5 page essay on eating fire. This class definitely helped me improve my writing!
This class was awesome! She is a super cool teacher and really helpful when you ask questions. If you are absent she will just Skype you during class so you don't miss the lecture. Midterm week we watched all the Star Wars movies. She said we had to analyze the complexity of the plot. We even acted the second movie out in class one day!
I had no idea how cool this class would be when I signed up. On Thursdays, she brought her animals to school to teach the class, but the only problem was they didn't speak English! It's okay though because I not only learned better English this quarter, but now I'm pretty good in French. If you love animals, I would recommend taking her class!
Molly is an awesome teacher! Her classes are very informative and entails all the information you'll need to perform good on her assignments. Also, her grading is pretty fair, once you're showing high initiative and effort she'll definitely reward you with the deserved grade for your work, and also give you remarks on how to perform better!
Ms. Mooneys class was awesome! After getting an A on everything she gave me the lazy boy chair to sit on in class and brought me cookies every day. Too bad they were burnt, I think her fire breath may have charred them. Anyway a great class and hopefully those bad kids who she made sit on the spiky chairs are alright.
Ms. Mooneys class is awesome. She is very big on rest and encourages her students to not come to class but instead stay home and sleep in! Be prepared for an awesome quarter!
If I'm being honest, this was the best class I took at CBC. I really enjoyed Molly's humor, helpfulness, and easy going personality! Best professor in my book! I have learned so much in her class! #1 ask for help she will be glad to help you! #2 DO YOUR READING DISCUSSIONS THE DAY SHE GOVES THEM TO YOU OR YOU WILL FORGET LIKE I DID.
This class was awesome, but I didn't like how three textbooks were required!
This is a really good class! Super informational and Ms. Mooney adds a splash of humor by making you read your essays aloud to the class whenever you receive a C or lower on an assignment. It should be called Intro to Speech. Oh DO NOT FORGET YOUR TEXTBOOKS. They will be your best friends this quarter.
Ms. Mooney's class was great. But, by the third essay I started to see a common theme; every prompt was just the teaser for a different Rocky movie re-worded. It was a little difficult writing a synthesis essay on how a gritty southpaw ended the cold war, but overall the work was pretty manageable.
Other than getting assigned an 8 page essay about her pet hedgehog named Sonic on the first day, followed by a 10 page essay about how awesome her cousin is the next week (which had to be written in German), and having to hear nonstop stories about her 2 lizards, I guess it was a decent class. Just compliment her puppetry skills and you'll pass!
Molly Mooney is an awesome English teacher! Taking English 101 with Molly Mooney was a bit complicated, but she is there to help. She gives great feedback on your essays and you only have to write 3 of them in the quarter. She walks you through baby steps to be able to write your final essays with no problem. I loved her!
Every week the class had to write a ten page essay about a type of insect and then compose a song out of the essay. The best song didn't have to write an essay the following week, the worst class I have ever been in by far.
This class was by far the toughest class I've taken at CBC. Even tougher than my Chemistry, anatomy, and biology classes combined. With Mrs. Mooney as your teacher you wont catch a break. With a paper do every week and no class time to work on them, you'll be up late every night. not to mention the weekly book reports. Definitely not an easy A
Greatest English class known to man.
Great class, if you're not afraid of dungeons.
Very good teacher, learned a lot by doing essay workshops. Would definitely take again, related well with the students!
Ms. Mooney was a complete blessing to me this quarter. She was totally understanding and willing to help me out when health issues kept me from class. Her daily writing prompts are fun and refreshing, and her essays can be entertaining if you choose to have fun with them. She's biased in her views, but this is forgivable considering her plus-sides.
Great class, kind of weird how we have to sing a song and dance before we leave the class. But I mean, whatever gets me an A, right?
This was a really fun class. My favorite part of the week was always Thursday, because on those days, if we'd finished all our work for the week, she would show us her old audition tapes for ninja movies. Live reenactments are also common in this class, especially when she gets excited about something. Have fun!
Overall this was an awesome class. She was very helpful when you asked for help. I just thought it was a little strange how we had cookies and milk every day before our lectures.
Great teacher, the best english teacher i have ever had. If you take the morning class you have to buy her a coffee from Starbucks, a different student has to buy her coffee every day. If you are ever late just take a coffee, she will excuse you.
I took this class at 6:50 AM and Ms. Mooney didn't let us drink coffee in her class. We had pop quizzes once week where we were graded on the quality of nap we took in class... needless to say I pulled an A. These quizzes are more heavily weighted than the essays though, so I highly suggest you DO NOT MISS CLASS.
On the first day of class, we had to do these staring contests and who ever won received 10 extra credit points and grapes. Those who lost had to sit in the back because she said she couldn't bear staring at losers, and winners win wars not give up like helpless bambi's. I had to sit in the back :(
If you don't like to dance I wouldn't recommend taking this class in the morning. Molly likes to make sure everyone is awake by having them dance. Don't be shy because in class participation counts toward your grade! It's a good thing she didn't grade me on my dance moves or else I may have failed!
I highly recommend anyone looking for a fun and polite instructor who gives great and useful feedback. definitely gained my confidence back in this class after failing my first 102 class with a different instructor.
Ms. Mooney was absolutely great. She liked to add a lot of reptile pictures onto her presentations, super cool! During class she brought in her pet lizard collection and made us hold them and whisper sweet-nothings to them. A little strange, but they don't call her the lizard queen for no reason. Yes, extra credit was given if we called her that.
Every day, Mooney would place a Tennis ball on the podium. No one asked her about it. One day, a student fell asleep. She grabbed the tennis ball and launched it at the student. He snapped awake, and the lecture continued as if nothing had happened. The next day, She pulls out a baseball and places it on the podium. Nobody ever fell asleep again.
What a great class! I went in knowing nothing about dinosaurs, now, I am able to identify 120 different dinosaur. This class was worth it!
The class was good, but I was only in it for the dinosaur at the end.
It was a good class, except she played Nickleback non-stop and if we ever got less than a 90% on an essay, she made us sing Backstreet Boys' I Want it That Way...
This was an awesome class. If you want cup cakes every morning and no homework, then your in for a treat.
This is the best class i have taken. I loved this class it was always fun, the only thing is that she would make us watch a lot of cat videos. A lot of videos!!! I probably learned more things about cats than anything else. Just act as if you really love cats too and you will pass the class.
You can't cheat in class because nobody knows the answers.. Bring a pillow to class so when you fall asleep your head won't slam on your desk and bring a pillow for your pillow because your pillow will fall asleep too. I would get so bored, id sit in class and stare out the window at the squirrels. They've got a cool nest in the tree.
This class is definitely worth taking. However, I am so glad I will never have to participate in Keeping Up With the Kardashian inspired skits ever again
Professor Mooney was a really helpful instructor. She had a lot of good feedback and was willing to help with assignments anywhere that she could. Once she even accepted my assignment late after the terriers on her dress came to life and ate my rough draft.
Miss Mooney class is the best English class you could ever sign up for, all you have to do is take your favorite animal and read with it. If your looking for extra credit all you have to do is dance in front of the class.
I wasn't a huge fan. She is very nice, however, she was extremely hard to follow for me. The class was a challenge because of your standards for excellence. MLA citations are a good example of something I have had to repeatedly correct. She gives useful feedbacks. She brought out the best out of us.
Has a tendency to not always give feedback in person and can at times make you feel as if your opinion does not matter. But she is very good at giving you time to do your essays and highly encourages getting feedback from your peers which in the long run I think helped everyone the most.
She assigns 4 essays and you're lucky if you get a C. Oh and the final is a 12 page research paper... no in class prep or help from her so dont try asking. She will just laugh. And dont be late for class, she marks your grade down one percent every time and makes you write an essay as to why tardiness takes away from learning. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Overall, this was a great class to take. The only thing I didn't like was when she brought her cats to class every Monday. Very distracting.
Best class ever. The writing assignments were straight forward and she is extremely helpful. The in class lectures were really interesting and she uses humor to make the classes light. Also no book requirement! Make sure and show up for class and do your assignments though. The extra credit fire breathing session is not worth the trip to the ER.
Good class but she would make us play hide-and-go-seek in the library and only if we won could we receive feedback on our essays. Unfortunately for me, I am the worst at hide-and-go-seek given I'm 6'6''.
Super great class and really educational. However, there were a few times where she tried to give us extra credit by having us join her cult. Kinda sketchy, but if you see past all the cult symbols in her classroom it's actually a very welcoming environment! :)
We were given four essays throughout the quarter. Every two weeks we had to finish a discussion question , so get ready to read long articles. Attendance will not count towards your grade, but many of the points are counted in workshops done in class therefore if you want to get those points you have to attend class.
I highly recommend anyone to take English 102 with Mrs. Mooney. The course improved my ability to think critically and has allowed me to expand my knowledge on how to properly research.
There is a good chance a few cats might show up in the lectures, but in any case Just keep on top of your works and you'll be fine, and the workshops are really helpful.
Great class but, watch out for her dog. He likes jumping on people. He once jumped on me and I fell.
Professor Mooney is a great teacher. She is very respectful and provides lot's of feedback on how to improve your essays for a better grade. In the end this class was pretty fun. In this class we were assign 4 essays. Which is pretty normal just like any other english class. We have lot's of reading in this class. So be prepare to read.
The class itself was great! The only weird thing was that the professor let one of the students sit in the corner and watch Sideshow Bob (that one murderer on The Simpsons) videos on their phone at full volume. It was kinda disturbing listening to Bart Simpson screaming for an hour every morning.
Professor Mooney is an excellent teacher. She provides great feedback and gives suggestions on how to revise your essays. I enjoyed having peer review groups, which indeed helped with the revision of our essays. She provides articles that relate to the 4 essays you will be writing in class so be prepared to read. In the end, I enjoyed the class.
She was a little odd, gave good feedback but I wouldn't take this class again.
