Very down to earth Professor, who is willing to explain into further detail the material on an individual basis or if time permits in class. For me doing the practice problems on top of the assigned homework for the chapters made the class easier.
Worse class ever! She does not teach or speak well. If you are new to STATS, please find a different teacher. Half the class was lost and did not understand. Her lecture was bunch of slides that she doesn't go into detail. A student knew better ways and she deny his tips. It was like taking a business course since she teaches business also.
Really nice professor, but her class was painfully boring. I don't think this is her fault. Tests seemed fair as well.
Her class was very hard for me. She tries her best to explain things to her best ability though. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's good to go to class. Her class is hard, I'll be lucky to pass I think.
Very unclear, very unorganized and rude prof. She switches from one slide to her iPad notes then to another slides and then to a lot of other stuff on the projector. Half of the time, she didn't know what she was doing. Takes a lot of time on easy and small topics and runs fast on the harder ones. Very hard tests and lot of HW assignments. RUN!!
She works through a lot of examples in class, most of which are helpful for the exams. Her lectures can be a bit confusing and she seems uncertain of some of her decisions. She was quick to answer emails and was available for office hours. Not a great teacher, but not bad either.
I find her tests to be extremely hard. The homework is sometimes done on computer programs but the exams are all by hand. I find myself wishing to just pass the exams. She is a nice teacher and tries to help, it's just a really hard class.
This is my first semester at UTD, Dr. Monica is a nice prof , but it is because of the subject itself is hard. you guys have to do a lot of practice which you may find the practice outside the source to get used to with the problem. I got an A+ , so try hard to get it. We have to learn, right!!!
Dr. Monica is nice, I think the subject itself is hard. I do many practice for each test myself, and I got an A+ you guys have to practice and practice only this way you can get a good grade in this class. No complain !
She is ok in teaching. Not the best, but not the worst either.
She has an accent, but pretty much every professor at UTD does. She is not the most awesome teaching, but she is not bad either. You can learn from her if you want. Just pay attention to slides, do the practice problems and do the work. Practice problems and HW are the same as tests. No need to buy book which is a plus.
OPRE is a hard class for some like myself. Even if you do poorly in the class she will help you improve your grade, no matter how low. The review sheets have a list of problems that a very similar to exams, so study them well. All in all I would enroll in her class if I had to take it again.
Dr. Brussolo is such a sweet, kind, and caring professor. She is a very fair grader and she does her best to make sure that you understand the material. She could use a little bit of work with explaining some of the information better, but if you read the book, then you'll figure out what she was trying to say. It will click. Take her, she's great
Great professor!! This was a hard class but if you study and keep up with the Aplia assignments you will do good on the exams. Do the practice problems and the in-class problems, they will help immensely for the exams!
I would NOT suggest taking Brussolo. Very unclear, lectures are super boring, and she doesn't seem to care if you're struggling. I failed two classes in my college career, both were her courses. There are better options out there. Run from this lady!
This teacher has major favorites and can be exceptionally unkind to students. The lectures feel like hours and it's hard to pay attention because she speaks quietly. She is no help at all and you need to study on your own. Do the suggested problems, read the textbook, and use your cheat sheet to write down everything on the PowerPoints at least.
She's pretty horrible. Almost community college grade. I have no idea why she is teaching at a university. She literally, said, "I don't know." a few times in class. Students are correcting her mistakes and explaining problems to her. Thank UTD for hiring her.
2nd time I've taken Brussolo, mostly because i know her grading style now. I find her teaching confusing but the book is able to clear everything up for me. Attend class because she takes attendance although its not necessary. Can be blunt to students who ask questions. She's not bad, but you will need to do reading on the side to understand.
She is a nice person. She is not clear though when she lectures. Her tests are not too hard if you have done the homework assignment that she gives prior to an exam. She is not the best professor but I also would not say she is the worst!
Professor Brussolo is an extremely kind person. I learned a lot in her class and would recommend her.
Professor Brussolo is very nice, but her lectures can be tough to understand at times with her accent. You have to be in class to learn the material, its very tough to skip class and try to keep up. She has 6 homework assignments and 3 tests. Study groups in this class will help you to pass.
Professor Monica is a very kind and helpful professor. But real problem is her exam practice and study guide maths and problems do not match with real time exam problems, and I felt it almost every time, participation is mandatory, but after signing up, you can leave the class later, lectures are boring and lengthy, HW are helpful to understand.
Professor Brussolo genuinely cares about her students. I would definitely take her again!
Was put off by some of her ratings, but Brussolo is not so bad. Enjoyed her lectures. Print the ppts and follow along. She takes some of the practice problems for the test. Only used book for practice probs, her lecture slides were enough to understand the material. Attend class and you won't get lost. Not good at math, and am making an A so far.
She's a great professor but the actual class is trickier than expected. Her reviews are basically what's on the test, study those and you'll do well. Gives credit for participation. Clear, well organized and makes a dull subject not so dull. I'm taking her again next semester. Review questions come from book but otherwise never opened it.
Dr. Brussolo is great but the material is not so easy. She has 3 exams, which she gives reviews for and are very helpful. Online homework every week and two excel projects that she completes with you in class, basically free points. You need the book for the review but that's it.
She is a great teacher. The material is not easy, but she does a good job. The tests are challenging, but she allows you to bring a cheat sheet with any information that you want on it. All you need to do is make sure that you can do the review problems and make sure your sheet has everything that you need. I have an A-, and an A on the first exams
Her tests are pretty hard. Her homework is ok. the class is prety hard over all, she makes it look easy but it's harder
Easy class as long as you pay attention somewhat. Most of the material just uses basic algebra and very little actual calculus.
Professor Brussolo is one of a kind when it comes to REALLY going out of one's way to help a student. That is something which makes my admiration and respect for a professor increase manifold. She genuinely cares for and trusts her pupils. She is compassionate, kind and considerate. She will assist in catching up with lessons, donning a big smile!
Initial chapters are good because this is what you already know later its a mess. Very unclear about anything and everything, books are way better. Boring assignments as they are copy of text book questions. The test questions are really tough and different than the approach used in class. PPT's are of no use More focus is on how and not why.
The teachings provided by her are not just not good enough for her tests. The questions asked in her tests are always twisted. The material provided by her is not good enough so, you are left fetching for it yourself.
The prof is helpful and approachable (not many take adv. of this). I couldnt understand the lectures, couldnt grasp the concepts taught, so had to sit and read the chap from the textbook. Since the slides and lectures were from textbook, I could recollect and relate the lectures and understand concepts later on. Tests are horrible and twisted.
I am a 4.0 student and losing my GPA as a result of this class. She rarely ever responds to emails and has attitude when trying to meet. The exams are all done on a computer! (dumbest decision ever to enforce math problems online). I took this class to learn excel and she has not lectured instructions (it is on exams). I would not recommend her.
LOVE LOVE HER! If you try she will help you. Do not have your phone out, it is disrespectful and she does not appreciate it. She is funny and very smart. She really tried to make sure you understand the material. DO NOT be afraid to reach out for help she is a wonderful wonderful resource!
Took this class as a freshman. This class is an upper level course so expect some difficulty. However Professor Brussolo is extremely helpful and her tests are fair.
Test are taken through the testing center. Professor Brussolo is a great professor and is always there to help. Her tests are fair. Some of the course content is taught and tested through excel.
She's rude and does not respond to emails quickly. She allows a formula sheet for the exams and that's the only reason I'm not failing this class. Too much irrelevant homework on Aplia that does not help for the exams. She lets students make groups and participate, and gives bonus points to all the members of the group that participated the most.
Very interesting lectures... Pretty fair in grading and Exam.. Exams are a bit tricky compared to other lecturers if you don't solve the homeworks or read the chapter from text. Overall knowledge is tested in exams
The instructor fits for teaching such material and is definitely a good teacher as well as a nice and kind person. Though her tests were somewhat tricky, she was always willing to offer more help and practice to prepare us for the tests. I would take her class again.
Dr. Brussolo is one of the most kind and intelligent Latino professors I have ever met! Her accent makes it essential to pay attention to her lectures but her class is extremely easy! The topics she teaches/tests over stay at the beginner level and never tries to trick you. Just do your homework assignments/ participate in class for extra credit.
I took Dr. Brussolo for both OPRE 3333/3360 in the same semester and had no issue with either class. This class is Statistics heavy but she teaches the most basic level of it and if you pay attention to her slides and do all of the online Aplia assignments, write an awesome half-page cheat sheet for the exams taken in her classroom, an A results.
Ms. Brussolo is an awesome teacher. The subject is hard itself. Must be in class, take good notes, and dedicate a lot of time to make an A. Exam are in the testing center and on the computer. Excel may be used for exam 2 and 3. The class will require hard work and dedication.
Dr. Brussolo is a great teacher, fair grader and accessible outside class. Do not be shy to meet her to clear concepts, even though I feel that the book is well written. Test 1 will be the hardest in the sense that it will test you on basic math which might not be covered in class. Excel is accessible in the other two tests. Work a bit to get an A.
Dr. Brussolo is a very hardworking professor... Writes down notes in each class and shows it to students to solve the doubts. Makes us to work for getting an A. Her notes are relevant.. Exams are a bit tricky in parts where you can get confused from text books.... Overall she is good...
Genuinely wants her students to learn. Gives you all the info you need to get an A and makes sure you get rewarded for your efforts.
She does not clearly explain test concepts or provide a review for the final exam. My recommendation would be to provide sample questions or a review with problems on it. Also, the homework is unnecessarily tedious and the software will sometimes say you have the wrong answer even though it's input word for word.
The class itself if fairly simple, I used youtube to teach myself everything for this course. Her lectures are short & fast, takes attendance every day, 3 tests and a quiz, 3-4 homework grades. Sometimes she's extremely helpful, other times she gets annoyed when you ask questions.
She is an expert in statistics and grateful person. You have to be initiative, visit her during breaks or office hrs with questions, you'll find more help than you expected. She invited me to her office when I asked her for a rcmmndtn letter to another school. She listened to me and showed her care for my well-being. I made her as a friend.
Testing could have been better since the course needs more testing on Excel rather than formula based. However, Dr Brussolo is a really good teacher and you can always reach out to her if you have any problem. You need thorough preparation to get an A which is fair considering this is a graduate level course.
I think she is a good professor. She sometimes can come off as rude if you're being disruptive in the class. The lectures are pretty forward, and easy to understand. The homework and REVIEW (do the review trust me) are basically the tests. She's reasonable and round out my grade from an 89 to a A- (but that is if you show up and miss like 3 classes
too picky for bad lectures she grades too hard drop if you can and take another professr that is my advice
Super hard class if you don't have background in statistics. She helps a ton out of class. Very nice, and gives tips to do well. One of my favorites. Need to do review questions. That is key. Cheat sheet allowed on test.
Brussolo is a great teacher and a great person. She gives some good real-life examples and she genuinely wants students to do well in class. The subject matter and her lectures can be a bit dry, especially if stats is not your thing, so beware. But OPRE 3360 is a mandatory class, so Prof Brussolo is pretty good to get your OPRE credit.
I suffered from depression because of her, she doesn't teach well and expect from you to know everything. I taught myself reading online and watching YouTube. I read the book I did everything I can becaude her lectures are not that good. Her notes and slides are awful. Listen to me carefully, don't take her class, run away. Find smebody else.
I think she's a pretty good, fair, and helpful professor. I dropped STAT3360 and took this instead and it was a lot easier to understand because it's applied STAT with real-life examples. HW was easy cause we had 3 chances to get the answer right (drops lowest) and we were allowed half-page cheat sheets during exams. I would take her again
I took 3333 and it was VERY easy. I decided to take her for 3360, which is a differnt story. I had to study a few hours a day outside of class. Homework was OK. Make sure you practice the homework multiple times. I'm a straight A student and felt that it was difficult still. Formula sheet allowed for 3360 exams. Paper due at end of semester.
Professor Brussolo will show a question on the board for 2 seconds and start solving it right away, so you can't tell where she is pulling numbers from in the problem. She will solve most of the material in excel even though you cannot use excel on the exams. She does allow a half page cheat sheet during exams though which is super helpful.
DO NOT take OPRE3333 if it's not with Brussolo. This class is tough but she makes it so much easier. Her lectures can be long but she will make sure you understand. If you're generally good at math this class will be a walk in the park. If not, you'll probably have to study a few minutes. She gives reviews and has reviews days before exams.
Her lecture is clear but even if you listen to her carefully, read the textbook, do the homework, do all her recommend questions in book, you can only maximum get 70. The level of difficulty of her test is not as same as the question she let you practice.
Brussolo is so good! She does lots of examples in class and gives you the solutions with her work shown so you can reference how to do the problems. She is super great about going over the homework in class if there is a confusing problem and explains it well. She values participation, answer questions and you might get some bonus points. She cares
If u can find someone better then do it! She goes through material to fast and expects you to get it on the first try
Dr. Brussolo is a great professor, the reason she has negative reviews is because her lectures are important to the content and you need her to explain it in detail. She encourages you to ask questions early on to explain it to everyone. First half of the course is algebra and the second half is excel. It's a pretty easy class if you show up.
Dr. Brussolo is a great professor. I would take her class again if I could. The lecture is very important, pay attention and you'll pass. The exams were difficult but not too bad if you reviewed the material. I did pretty well on all my exams. She is also very willing to help her students with any questions. I would recommend taking her.
Pretty easy course material if you show up to class and pay attention during lecture. Her exams are straightforward and in my opinion, pretty easy. If you do the homework, the exam review, and review the lectures you will have an easy time on the exam. People complaining on here because they didn't put in the work and spent all period on facebook.
Professor Brussolo is great. I took her this summer (2018) and she goes over everything you need to know for her tests in the homework's and quizzes, so make sure you go over those. Also, be aware of pop quizzes for attendance. Her lectures can be pretty boring but it's just the class. Print out all her slides to take notes and you'll do great.
This class is not easy, she can run through her lectures pretty quickly but genuinely cares about you doing well in this class. She's willing to answer any questions you may have. Lots of in class quizzes for attendance and weekly homework assignments online. Going to the OPRE lab for extra help from the teaching assistant is very useful!
She is good a teaching, but the problem is she makes her tests more difficult than they need to be. She puts material on the test that we never go over in class , but expects you to know how to do them, and makes them worth like 14 points on the test.
i took her class last year and because of that class I cant even do a t test now that I need to do one ughh take someone who will help you learn
She makes errors in her test and marks you down for it. She is too specific in statistics where it doesn't really matter and doesn't make sense. You will not learn applied statistics or data analysis, but you will obsess over the stupidest things which you will forget immediately after the test.
Organized course. Good detailed teaching. Answers questions and takes feedback. Stats was a core course for me. If it is for you too then take her and you will learn some good things. Not great with real world application. 3 exams,6 quizzes- gets you thorough understanding. Exam questions can be tricks at times.
If given a chance again i will not enroll in her lecture. i had to self-teach a lot of concepts , the quizzes she provides are easy compared to exams(they are hard). Her lecture slides are straight out of textbook but the exams do not reflect that. tough grader.
6 quizs+ 3 exams +1 bonus. Good course.
Excellent Lectures yet heavy. Exams are really tough. Should not miss the classes.
Read the book and do the homework! If people complain about this professor or this class, it's only because they expect to be handed an easy A. She does a great job of teaching the concepts; you have to learn how to apply them. I visited her about 3-4 times this semester to get help and she was always available and approachable.
If you get her GO FOR IT! She allows students to use excel which make life easy, for exams.I had a very weak Math n Stat background and I was nervous signing up for this class in the beginning. Professor Monica took the effort to make concepts clear to me from scratch and worked out ways to help me raise my grades. She CARES for her students.
Took her online OPRE 3360 class. The material itself was moderately difficult for me and I may have benefited from an in-person lecture, but she provided video lectures for each chapter, was readily accessible for questions, and was very generously flexible on test scheduling for extraneous circumstances.
homework is on cengage. weekly quizzes based on lectures. since the class went online, she made really good video lectures and gave good practice problems. 3 exams are based on the problems you practice in class. get extra help from stats lab. have to be in class for activity because she grades attendance that way
Professor Brussolo is very informative during her lectures. I took this class online and it was easy to understand with her videos and slides. She is a very kind woman and will help you with anything if you do not understand something. I am so glad I took her because she helped me a lot. The tests were at the testing center, hw and quizzes online.
Professor Brussolo's OPRE 3360 was a pleasure to take! Her lectures were through and was always available for questions. Homework more difficult than quizzes and tests which ended up being a good thing. Even with the second half of the semester being online because of COVID, she was still clear in lessons and available.
super time consuming. the homework takes forever! homework is due on Saturday's and quizzes are due on Sunday's. test have to be take in the testing center and you get a cheat sheet. write everything on the cheat sheet. the test are very hard.
For OPRE 3333, she is a good professor. She teaches step by step and the homeworks are not too hard. Because the class was remote, she did random pop quizzes, but she also had an alternative assignment for students who took the class asynchronously. Very understanding and easy to learn the material.
Her lectures are pretty good and she goes over practice problems, but they're nothing like the online HWs. Honestly the HWs are harder than the quizzes and exams because they are so tedious. The class itself is not that bad if you keep up with the lectures and HWs and if you're good with math. Excel will be your best friend. Solid choice for 3360.
She is one of the best profs I have come across till date. Although due to COVID class was virtual but she took care of every student around the globe. The subject is tough but her explanation makes things simpler. She curved the final grades and I got one grade above than expected. She follows an advanced stats book called 'Sleuth' in phase 2 &3.
The subject is tough but you will love her class if you focus
Exams are tricky but she is a good grader. She is very accommodating and loves to teach.
Professor Brussolo is a hard working and caring teacher. You can reach out to her anytime and she even replies your emails or questions on weekends. She is not very organized and sometimes pays too much attention to the details. Homework is heavy so be sure to form a study group and aske her whatever questions you have.
Dr. Brussolo is a very sweet lady who did her best to teach us the statistics material. I took her during the Pandemic so it was all online. Her recorded lectures are great. Hwks are intense and usually require R to solve which can be tricky. Great learning experience. Her exam reviews are decent. The best Exam prep is hwk and her slides! Take her!
She is happy to help students but the class is not easy.
She's a wonderful lecturer. Actually cares for her students. You can easily approach her and she is quite understanding and reasonable.
Professor Brussolo made this course fairly easy to understand. I am not the best at math/statistics, however the lectures were short & straight to the point. Once you get the hang of how to study & prepare for the tests, it will be easier to pass with good grades. The homeworks & test reviews will help you pass the tests! Make sure you study!!
Be aware juniors, you don't take this subject under her. 1. Exams with so much error still have no courtesy to give grace marks 2. TA's are just cutting marks for no reasons.
Take this class only if you want to study the only subject the entire sem. Assignment every weekend Very tough grader. Don't take this prof if you want easy grades
Take this subject if : 1. Have Guts accept fewer marks even with all correct answers. 2. If you can use R-studio for average calculations, which can be performed by pen and paper else you will lose marks 3. Exams full of errors. 4. TA's pretending to be super intelligent though news says that they passed this subject by cheating.
Very well structured course. Knowledgeable professor. communicates very effectively. Moderate difficulty. Following each lecture closely will do the trick. Easy to tackle assignments and tests by following lectures.
She doesn't teach well. Take some other Prof as Stats is an imp subject.
Dr. Brussolo is a responsible and hardworking professor. She might be good at research but not good at teaching. Material which can be finished in one class she has to spend 3+ hours of recording plus a live class and a bunch of explaining martial to make it kinds of clear. What's more, there is more you should read in the textbook.
Professor Brussolo lacks teaching skills. She does not teach her subject properly. Doesn't explain the concepts to help students apply the knowledge for solving business problems . Her classes are one way, she asks students if they have questions and without giving them time to ask, she moves from one topic to another. Not good at teaching.
When I took this class she took off marks for answers that were correct and then refused to answer emails. The lectures are almost impossible to understand and she does not provide any resources to help students be successful. She spent more time obsessing over cheating than helping us learn. The TAs were also the worst and never answered emails.
I felt cheated taking the Statistics course that Prof. Brussolo taught and ended up wasting my $3000 in fees. She was unprofessional talking on things that are irrelevant for the class, wastes lot of time on easier topics and does not explain difficult concepts which need attention. She should leave teaching profession and try something else.
Her lecture is so useful, I keep reviewing her slides even after the semester. She has a very deep understanding of statistics. Yes, her class is difficult but you could learned a lot. She is responsible, and care about student. Although we do had weekly assignments...it's truly a lot of work, ready to work 8+ hours after class per week.
Even if you got all the problems correct on the hw she still all but fails you. There are 3 hours of in-person lectures then another 3 hours of online videos and at the end, you still won't understand! If you have another choice, take someone else because she will not prepare you to use r but instead obsess over if you cheated or not.
This online class was pretty easy and the expectations are clear. I can't rate the prof's teaching style that well because our class used pre-recorded lectures, but the workload isn't too much and the tests are reasonable. I will say that the professor cares about feedback and regularly made announcements and changed stuff based on the students.
Prof. Brussolo is good. She does want her students to learn as much as possible, but you could be overwhelm by the amount of HW, lecture and reading without highlighting the important points. If you do not have stat background, I recommend you to go over some basic stat youtube video before her class.
She teaches peanuts and expects you to grow watermelons. Pure Horrible.
The exams don't match with what she teaches in the class and what the homework is on. be ready to get surprised on the exams if you take her. She uses pre-recorded lectures by some other professor and is clueless as to how to do questions when you ask her help. The TAs are helpful though.
She is good; she explained the material well in her video lectures. There is HW every wk (except for exam wks), and you have to do 1 quiz and an Excel lab toward the end. The open note exams (3) are not too bad, but Honorlock is required. She holds review sessions and gives partial credit on exams. You just have to keep up with the work every wk.
I would absolutely take more classes with Dr. Brussolo. This class was really challenging, especially since it was an online asynchronous class. But Dr. Brussolo was caring, kind, and helpful. Office hours is a great way to get help if needed. Great professor, I would definitely recommend taking her. But be prepared for a lot of work.
She is an excellent professor, we can learn a lot from her.
If you actually want to learn statistics then I think you'll like her class. But if you're like me and just trying to get this class out of the way because it's a prerequisite, then I strongly recommend you look elsewhere.
exams are different compared to questions from hw and sometimes the lectures don't help in understanding certain topics. the wording of questions makes no sense because you don't know what she is asking for(you can know the concept but not know how to answer). asked for help about certain things and now i feel like she just grades hard after that.
Online course. First week is syllabus quiz. After that, 10 homework, 3 exam, a mock-up test, an excel lab, and an assessment quiz. She responds to emails in a timely manner, but does not actually help with homework questions. Homework is open from Monday- the following Monday. Exams are honorlock on Saturdays from 8 am to 6 pm.
6 Homework every week, 3 practice problems before each exam, 3 exams. Very easy if you study whats given, do the homework, and practice problems. Exams are moderate, if you do the homework and practice problems with a good grade, you'll do amazing on the exam. No textbook, slides given. She answer emails fast. Attendance matters (graded).
Challenging class, but Prof. Brussolo cares about students learning. Lectures are dense, so use resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook to stay on top of the material. Expect a heavy workload but valuable stats knowledge.
The professor is nice to students and cares about students' performance. Her mode of teaching is impressive and easy to understand. She makes sure that her students understand the content.
Hell noo, very hard and strict grader.
She responds to emails very promptly and respectfully. there is a homework assignment once a week shown in the learning calendar, and three exams taken online. overall amazing professor, she's very accommodating and when I had trouble accessing an exam in lockdown browser she responded within 20 minutes guiding me how to access it. 10/10
