Professor Coto is really passionate about what she teaches. Exams are not easy, you must read and understand her slides. The book is good reinforcement, but focus on her slides. There's a quiz or two EVERY class, so you must show up to class every day. Very nice, helpful, and easy to approach. Recommended for Psych Majors Only!

I really enjoyed her lectures. She's very clear and makes the subject interesting and relatable, which makes it easier to retain and understand. She's real passionate about Psychology, and I think that's what makes her a good instructor. Focus on the slides her lectures are based on. There is a quiz each class meeting. Take her for Intro Psych!

She is such a passionate teacher she loves psychology and she is extremely knowledgable in so many areas where you can use psychology as a career.

Here is the outline of what to expect. 2 quizes every week, all lectures done through powerpoint, a research assignment, and some heavy testing. She is a punctual and very assisting professor but the course is way too systematic to be compelling and you're going to be a regurgitating sponge for 16 weeks. Take Delman, no point in additional stress.

I like her, she is cool.. but I hate the way she teaches. No hw, your entire grade is on tests, and 5 question quizzes every day.. And there's a few papers. Her class is very long with powerpoint slides that will make you tired.. However, she's very knowledgable. Don't take her if tests aren't your strength.

I loved her! She is so sweet and her lectures are so interesting, if you are interested in psychology or the science of the brain. Her class is not easy but she is very clear about what she wants and if you study you can get an A. She will also take the time to explain anything and is willing to help during office hours.

Taking Psychology 1 with Professor Coto was a great experience. Crystal clear power points, and yes, there are a lot of quizzes. However, as long as you do the work, the quizzes and tests are easy A's. One time, she gave everyone extra credit just for showing up to class. Amazing professor.

Dr. Coto, or Monica as she prefers, is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are intriguing, funny, well thought out, and approachable. She knows the material very well and has no trouble explaining it in a way that is easy to understand. She always stays after class to talk with you and to answer any questions you might have. Her class was very easy to understand. Tests are taken directly from the PowerPoints and weekly quizzes from a page or two of reading from the textbook. Easy grader on essays. I enjoyed her class.

Professor Coto is very passionate about what she teaches. If you are a biopsychology major I highly recommend taking her. Her lectures were a bit long for my taste. I took this class because I enjoyed psych 1... Beware Bio Psy is a whole different ball game. Study hard. Overall, it was an interesting class. Expect many quizzes.

Great Professor! Her class is made up of a five question quizzes each class meeting on certain pages of the textbook, which she provides. There were 4 tests , 2 paper assignments and the final. The tests are all on the lectures she gives during class and she puts them online so you can review. I highly recommend, I'm taking her again for Psych 2.

Quizzes almost every day, not too hard. Tests: you MUST read the book. Her lectures are all powerpoint, so they can be very boring and confusing. She is knowledgable in psychology, and she tries hard to help students who are struggling. To sum this up, tests are hard, but if you work hard you should get a good grade.

Professor Coto gives quiz's every week, with exams about 60 questions each. The exams are based solely off of her power points. Attendance is not mandatory or counted, but why wouldn't you show up for her lectures?!! Has a clear passion for psych. Expect to study.

There is a 5 question quiz almost every week which are quite easy if you've read the pages that are assigned. The readings she assigns are typically 2 to 3 pages which is not a lot. There are 2 papers which are also easy if you cover everything on the prompt. The lectures are very interesting and they help you prepare for tests so take notes.

She's very clear in what she wants from students. She's also adorable and I loved listening to her lectures. Class felt like it went by very fast! Just make sure you study and do what she assigns. Very straightfwd. There's no reason not to get an A in this class. If you do happen to struggle, def. ask her for help. P.S. the final isn't cumulative!

also, you dont have to buy the book! it's in the library as well as the social sciences division. just make sure you read the right few pages for each class quiz and you'll be great!

Professor Coto is great, definitely knows what she is talking about. She is a little quiet, but her lectures are interesting and engaging. There were 6 exams total, including the final, review quizzes on every chapter (or every other) which she tells you which pages to read to prepare for it, and 2 short papers. Very cool class & prof.

Took her for into to psych and she's very clear with what she wants you to study for the test. Has study guides online and notes from power points that have all the info needed to pass. Should be an easy A if you actually make time to study. A lot of quizzes but they're really easy as long as you read the pages assigned. Would def take her again

I took her for psych 1 and 2. Pretty good professor, explain the material quite well using very clear examples. Fourteen quizzes through out the semester, so it's pretty much like at least one quiz per week. The quizzes aren't hard, mostly key terms from the reading, or some figures from the book(for psych 2). Tests are easy if you studied.

She's an amazing professor, she gives 14 quizzes in total and it's only 2 papers that's all! Show up take the quiz and you can leave. I would stay for the lecture even though you can see the information online she not only explains it better but lets you know what exactly is gonna be on the exam. She randomly gives extra credit

Great Professor ! There are 14 five question quizzes, but these are great to boost up your grade and very easy ! The lowest two are dropped and they are 30% of your grade. The tests are a bit difficult but really not too bad if you study. She has a lot of office hours and helps you ace the two essays. The final is like any other test, 60 questions.

Her exams are very easy to understand. As long as you study the power points she posts online, you should be ok. However, I would advise you to be careful when you take the quizzes because they can make or break your grade.

Shes the absolute best teacher i have ever had! She makes learning psych so much fun because you can tell she truly enjoys it! I had to take 2 of her courses because i absolutely loved her. she curves all the tests which really helps!

Great class, she really takes her time explaining things to you. She has lots of office hours which help a lot. There is a few papers but she does a great job at explaining what she expects and allows you to submit as many drafts as you need before its due. She is really passionate about the subject and very knowledgable. I would def recommend her!

By far the greatest professor I've had at PCC. Everything on the exams are straight from her lectures so you do have to show up but it doesn't even matter because her lectures are great. She's funny and really helps you grasp the concept of whatever she's teaching. All her powerpoints are online so you literally just show up and listen.

Professor Coto is awesome. Lectures are fun and interesting. Have a quiz almost every class but they are easy if you read the material. Curves all the exams and the papers are easy. You will not pass her exams if you don't study. All slides are posted online. I never took notes made flash cards from the slides and got an A. Final not cumulative.

Very organized professor, she's also extremely lenient and you can tell that she wants you to pass. She drops your lowest test, and all you have to do to prepare for the tests is read her powerpoint slides! She's a really great teacher! Depends on what level of Psych you take, I took her with 2 and it was definitely Biology heavy for the first two or three tests overall its a great class and I'd recommend her to any Psych major or if your taking psych 1 for the GEs.

One of my all time favorite professor and teachers throughout my entire school career. He lectures are always fun and interesting and you can tell that she loves teaching. Im a CS major. I took this course for GE. She teaches well and makes the lecture fun. She sometimes talks about stories that we have already heard twice. Let me start off, research methods is a tough subject, but Dr. Coto breaks everything down for you and is willing to make sure you understand everything. She goes above and beyond for her students. The class consists of 3 major papers, which she helps you thoroughly on each, 2 midterms and a final. Study guides provided for exams. Take her!

Everything that she expects you to know for each exam is communicated very clearly. Essentially, all you need to do to pass her class is to study the powerpoints she lectures and take the online quizzes (unlimited tries until the deadline). Memorization is imperative for this class! Also, you don't need to buy the book even though it says required!

Professor Coto is a wonderful Professor who always gives good feedback on your papers. She is an incredibly tough grader when it comes to grading the papers. It has to be practically perfect. She looks for so much in them. Psyc 5 is a very tough subject as it is, but she helps you through it & tells you exactly what to expect.

Dr. Coto is an amazing person to start this off. I have had her for Psych 1 and Psych 2 and her classes were awesome. She lectures ALOT and others find that to be "boring" but if you truly love psych, you could get so much information from her and her lectures. The test are tough but honestly studying off the powerpoint help ALOT and the book.

Dr. Coto tries to make every effort to find ways for students to remember the lesson. She gets very animated and shows videos to help you remember material. Her exams are no joke. Coto is very straightforward and doesn't force you to come to class (although I would highly recommend it). You do not want to miss her lectures, as they are filled with test material not on the slides. If you come to class and pay attention, you will succeed. Definitely would recommend for any psychology major.

The only way you will pass this class is to show up and pay attention. Everything she says in the lecture and whatevers on the slides on her class are things you will get tested on. You dont need the book, and attendance isnt mandatory which is great, but if you dont go to the lectures you wont pass. Not an easy class but not difficult either.

Monica Coto is the best professor ever! She is super organized and is very clear about homework and exams so you know how to study. She is so smart and knows what she's talking about, she's good at explaining things and answering questions. There are extra credit opportunities and she is a pretty easy grader. I would definitely recommend her!!

She is very sweet and knowledgable. Her lectures are super helpful because they are exactly the same as what is going to be on the tests. Be sure to do well on both quizzes and tests because those will reflect a lot on your grade at the end of the semester

She presents all information in a way that is retainable, even far after the semester I remember everything. Taking her class even got me interested in Pysch as a minor. This class was very lecture heavy. You want to stay on top of the material, don't slack off and you'll do just fine. Dr. Coto made me feel sympathy for Sodium. She is so eager to make sure you are fully understanding the concepts, though they can be a little difficult in memorization (psych2) but if you attend and take notes you'll pass. If you go to her office hour she will legit help you get a 100% Will definitely try and take her again.

The tests are a big part of your grade so study. My class had 1 short paper to write, not sure if she will keep it that way so watch out for that. She is a very nice teacher who is easy to understand and give good feed back.

Shes amazing, well organized, gives you all the help you need in our office hours, I got a bad grade in the Media assignment, she gave us a 2nd chance to re-do, got her help, and got an A+. Just study the power-point for the exams. Shes very fair, not picky with grades, gives you what you deserve. Also drops one of your lowest grade on the exam.

Honestly, she's one of the best psych professors I have taken. She has 6 exams but she drops one and the quizzes are easy to get perfect scores in. Just make sure to ask question if you don't understand a concept. REVIEW THE SLIDES AND WORKSHEETS before exams.

Despite moving from physical lectures to online lectures, the class actually became easier and more manageable. Easy tests, just look them up online, you'll average a 50/60 even if you don't read/watch the lectures. Either 1 or 2 small essays which she will help you with if you ask her. Trust me, ask her for help and you'll be guaranteed an A on it

They are very detailed and she asks for details in the exam so exams are a little bit hard, you need to take notes for sure. But other than exams and a few discussions, there isn't much to do. She connects difficult abstract concepts with real-life stories and examples, making learning the material easy and enjoyable. I almost became a psych major because I loved her classes so much! I am now at UCLA and so grateful to Dr. Coto :)

Despite Psych 2 being vastly different than Psych 1, I found it really entertaining under Monica who clearly enjoyed teaching the subject. The testing alone should have had me at a C, let alone the papers, but I was able to focus and enjoy my time in class enough to get a B in a subject I struggled with.

Really great professor. You actually learn a lot from this course. It wasn't difficult at all, just make sure you do all of the work. She has one research paper that really worried me, however, she lets you redo drafts until you get full credit, then you could submit it as the final draft and get full credit. Highly recommend.

Lectures are long but she talks pretty slow so just put on 2x speed. One book you have to read that has assignments on, not graded harshly at all. discussions about biweekly. 4 exams open note none are cumulative. Biweekly quizzes Use ppt and you will be fine. Nothing is due till each exam(flexible). Can learn a lot as well, great teacher and fun.

The course itself is pretty challenging, but her slides and lectures really help. As long as you put in the effort, it is extremely easy to pass. There are a lot of easy quizzes, discussions, and six exams in total.

Pretty straightforward class. You can listen to the lectures for more context of each chapter. But I honestly copied and paste whatever is on the powerpoint and use these notes to take the quizzes and exams. Also these tests are open book. The Crazy Like Us book she makes us read are available for free somewhere you just need to find it.

Although attendance was not mandatory except for the first day, I was always happy and excited to attend her lectures. The work load was extremely flexible and deadlines were reasonable. Her lectures were extremely engaging and participation was never forced or required.

It was overall a pretty easy class. Her quizzes are open notes so that's helpful and she has one research paper you have to do, but she has a pretty good outline you can use and is also flexible about regrading if you resubmit it! Very generous and very kind!

She is good. Sometimes the examples she use to explain the lectures are wild but that made things fascinating. Open book, attendance not taken, this was a good class. Wish to hear more of her stories but we only have this much time.

Halfway through the semester I stopped going to class and I still got an A. She does a great job at explaining everything and she will always go in depth if you have any questions. Professor Coto is an amazing educator. The workload of the class boils down to a few discussions, a media paper, 14 quizzes and 6 exams. All of which are open book and open note. The quizzes have 3 attempts but the exams only have 1 so be aware, but with open notes and a 1 hour and a half time limit you should be good if you pay close attention.
