Good teacher. Tests 100% from her EXCELLENT lecture slide, which are highly congruent with the book chapters. Thus, you can use the book's audio chapter summaries and self-tests and be well prepared for her straight-forward exams. Starts each lecture with in-class review of previous lecture. Biggest fault: too much extra credit!!

Her class is easier than other micro class and she seems to know a lot of microbiology. Her lectures get so long and draggy. You will work your tail off and you should, because this is 5 units. This Prof truly cares for student success. If you show your commitment in studying, you will be rewarded. This class is pretty fun and interesting. Be ready to nerd out on microbes. So thankful I took this class with Prof. Friedrich.

Take her class!! She's great! Her tests and quizzes are challenging but she sets you up to do well as long as you put in the work. Her course was so well organized and defined... it's clear she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. If you don't do well in her class that's on you. As they say, you can lead a horse to water but...

Provides everything you need to succeed as a student. Her lectures were online, and labs in person. Her online lecture videos are short and to the point, she explains all topics in a simple way that is easy to understand. She does not ramble, she is clear and a wonderful educator. A challenging and rewarding class.

This professor is amazing at her job & knows the subject inside and out. Class is organized and easy to get ahead if you put in the work. She went above and beyond to help me and used office hours to go over topics before the exams and even dedicated time out her day if we didn't have enough time to go over lecture material in office hours. -CG

Took Dr. Friedrich as a Hybrid (Lab in person & Lectures were videos). She was genuinely really nice and is a really funny teacher. She makes Microbiology fun and tolerable. I left the class liking Micro way more than I thought I would. I got a B but getting an A is definitely not impossible with Dr. Friedrich. I highly recommend her!

I think the lab activities are really fun. HOWEVER, the lectures can be challenging if you don't understand the material. The labs and tests were super easy but you need to spend more time on the lecture material. She is a tough grader, little mistakes can deduct your points. For example, not labeling a bacteria's morphology or using a pencil.

LITERALLY ONE OF THE BEST PERSON IN SCIENCE BUILDING. I know lecture is challenging but she went extra miles to make sure you are not fall back behind by providing extra lecture hrs in lab reviewing the materials for the exam. Also the notebook need precision if you dont want couple points raking of. Thank you for a great term Dr. Friedrick.

Professor Friedrich was great and I can honestly say I learned so much in her class. There is a lot of work and a lot of studying. The only thing that was very difficult for me was her exams, which can be very hard and confusing, so if you are not a great test taker like me I would try a different professor.

I took Dr. Friedrich this semester and loved her class! The class is hard and you HAVE to put in time. Her study guides are extremely helpful and her exam reviews help a lot too. Her class is very organized and well structured. The class was hard but it was very enjoyable. She is a kind and caring professor and I would absolutely recommend her.

Professor Friedrich was the best professor I have ever taken at Saddleback. She is so kind and caring. She really wants all her students to succeed. The best tip that I could say is watch her lecture videos over and over! The study guide is your guide to the tests! If you use the study guide nothing is a surprise on the test!

Dr. Friedrich is excellent at teaching the course material. Her class is well structured, organized and easy to follow. Her love of teaching comes through in a natural style that will bring out the best in you. Scoring well on the quiz/exam material is a breeze if you watch her lecture videos and complete the study guides - not a difficult task.

Dr. Friedrich is by far the best teacher I've ever had. She actually teaches. She's very thorough in her lecture videos and in her lab instructions. Her tests are fair, based on material she teaches and most questions come from the study guides. It was a full class at the start of semester and a full class at the end. That says something. Respect.

Be prepared to study a lot for this class. There are three lecture exams, three lab quizzes, a lecture final and a lab final. The class is challenging, but she is very accessible during office hours and does her best to help students succeed. Strongly recommended

Sort of monotone in her lectures, but everything else is great. She knows biology very well and explains things clearly if you have questions. Study guides prepare you well, although it is worth looking at some things on the slides that are not in the study guide. Office hours are great, and you can tell she is very caring towards students.

Humanities major that decided for some reason to take microbiology as my bio credit. Went from zero knowledge to the exact amount of knowledge this class was designed to provide, in a well-structured, intellectually challenging, and in my opinion very fun way. Dr Friedrich always helped me when I asked for it. I totally love and fear microbes now.

I actually took this course in Spring of 2019. I'm coming back to review this course because Dr. Friedrich teaches this course better than the professor at my medical school. This was my favorite course throughout my undergraduate career, both because the course was well structured but also because Dr. Friedrich genuinely wants students to succeed.

An overwhelming amount of content - not a lot of help when asked questions. Half the class dropped. She is very nice but the content you learn is about 10% you'll be tested on, and you don't get a lot of preparation help for the tests.

You will have tests that don't relate to the lectures she posts. Get ready to complete the study guides she provides that have nothing to do with the tests. This class will basically take up all of your time, and you will have to study weeks in advance. Overall, terrible teaching style and doesn't prepare you for any test.
