Mrs. Hixson is a sweet lady; softy. I did really porly in her class and recieved a "c". I think she felt sorry for me. She's vary patient and really nice.

Monica Hixon does a great job in helping reluctant speakers relax. I highly encourage you to tak her class.

One my first college professors. She was a sweet lady who tries to not only teach her students to be more assertive when it comes to speaking, but also does her best to try and help students get involved with the school as well.

Great teacher. She makes everyone feel at ease, and is very pleasant. Also easy... her class is a definite A.

One of the nicest teachers I've ever had. I still talk to her regularly even though I haven't had her in 2 years. She is great, is never evil, and is the best person to have for speech weather you are good and especially if you aren't and are timid.

Very nice teacher. I hated public speaking, but she made the experience worthwhile. I would recommend taking this teacher if you need the class.

The speeches were easy but she was never very clear. She would make the class give feedback which always was akward and sometimes embarassing. Extremely nice lady and pleasent to be around.

I don't understand why she doesn't have a "hot" rating....not saying I think she is hot, but she looks better than all the other teachers from BCC that are marked as "hot". Even if you suck at speeches you will do well because she will think you are "improving". Oh, and she is a hippy.

Although i felt like she talked to the class like we were really young, she was the biggest sweetheart. She was always is involved and was very flexible during the hurricanes.

she was verty fun to have as a teacher and the exam was very easy. at first i hated speeches but through the clas i came to like them and find them comforting. but i didnt like watching my own tapes... even though it was helpful

Recommended. Overall good class. She is very flexible and always wants to help. Very generous speech grader, just prove that you tried. Exams were quite easy except for the fill in the blanks part. Only used the textbook, never used the W/B or CD's. EXAMS: 3 total, 25 ?'s each, drops lowest exam. SPEECHES: 5 total. ATTENDANCE: About 10% of grade

She is very into everything that has to do with speech, but she is an easy grader and usually has good constructive criticism. She is really nice and has an easy course outline.

She was nice and helpful. I actually didn't mind speeches at the end of the course. Didn't like them...but i didn't mind them either.

Don't expect this class to be a pushover. Hixson expects you to work to make your speeches good. You'll have to hustle to prepare and practice your speeches. She's fair and helpful, but she won't just hand you an "A". You'll have to work for it.

You deffinatly have to work to get a good grade in this class. Make sure you turn in everything on time. Must study for quizzes, they are not that easy. If you have any problems she will help you with them.

Monica is very adament about her teaching and the speeches and learning that you get from her classes. I had to work in her class in order to get an A, but in a good way. She was helpful when I slept through my final and extremely knowledgeable.

An overlooked instructor because a very smooth operator. Excellent communicator & organized. No trip ups in her class but some fun surprises (is calculating when preparing lessons). It was soul-searching along with speech. Great combo because when you tap into yourself, you then use it 2 perform during speeches. BRAVA! Take her or torture yourself.

Mrs. Hixson teaches a difficult class, but it is not difficult in content only with the students fears of public speaking. Monica has a certain quality that allows the student to eventually feel more and more confident in public speaking scenarios. An excellent instructor.

Ms.Hixson is a very fun teacher. she gives a lot of handout witch turn out to be very useful when you are preparing your outlines for the speeches. A text book is a must, she gives you a study guide for her quizes and there are no surprises. you dont really need to takes notes in class just take good notes from the book.

Extremely humble. Open minded. Excellent communicator and well organized. She is a life saver. Awesome teacher. Study for tests- they can be a challenge. She does a great job in preparing you for speeches.

Mrs. Hixson is a wonderful woman who really tries to help and get to know her students. I recommened her for anything. Just pay attention and be honest and you'll do fine.

Mrs. Hixson actually made Speech kinda fun. Had to give 4 speeches, 1 of which was a group speech, and she inspires the confidence needed to stand up in front of people. Gave 4 quizzes we critiqued a speech as the final. Not an overly hard class and Mrs. Hixson did a great job.

I had Ms. Hixson for Success Strategies for Life and College. She was an EXTREMELY kind teacher, always welcomed questions and comments, maybe a little on the crazy side but it might just have been the subject she was teaching. SUPER EASY A class, take it if you dont mind feeling like you are in kindergarten again.

Professor Hixson is one of the best teachers I had. She helps you when you need it, and the class never got boring. I learned so much, while having fun. And I got a high A in the class. I highly recommend her to anyone.

i took mrs hixson's college success class and it was awesome. now i;m in her speech class and i love it. mrs hixson is a great teacher who is very concerned about her students and their future. i would suggest taking either or both of her classes.

Hixson makes someone like me, who is very uncomfortable with giving speeches, feel a bit more relaxed and composed. She is very helpful and caring. Take her Speech class...and any other class she teaches.

I love love love love her as a speech teacher! Public speaking is my all time biggest fear. I get sick to my stomach just thinking about having to do it but she raelly helped me push through this class. There are 5 speeches total and ive gotten B's on the 4 we have done so far! GREAT teacher! I definately would taker her again!

She helped to make me feel more confident and relaxed during speeches. Make sure to practice your speech ahead of time and you will do fine. Quizzes are somewhat hard, so make sure you study the sections in the book they will be on.

..Took her for Speech class, this is a teacher that truly lover her job, and will answer ANY questions (even if other students snicker at them) She grades you fairly on your speeches, nervous or not. She does her job very well so be prepared to do the same when you get in her calss but I'm so glad I got her for this course, a WONDERFUL teacher!! A+

A really sweet teacher! She is always open for you to ask her any questions, explains everything clearly and gives examples for your speeches. Grades really fair whether you're nervous or not. I highly recommend her~

I recommend Mrs.Hixson for a speech teacher. She is very nice and is willing to help you after class. I felt alot more comfortable speaking infront of people after taking this class.

I HIGHLY reccomend mrs. Hixson ! She is an amazing teacher and shes very fair, her test are a tad bit difficult only because all you will do in that calss is speaches and it relates to the text book but she does not go over the book. I am taking her agian next semester!

She is a nice, down-to-earth teacher and she likes what she does. She grades relatively hard on journal entries. Both her quizzes and the final was very easy. Overall it was a fun and relaxing class.

I really liked this teacher as a person She was kind and definitely willing to help you out, even giving you different options for speeches/tests. But her quizzes were INCOMPREHENSIBLE. Seriously. She used bad wording and had questions that you only could have known if you read the whole book (which wasn't required!)Still very good teacher overall.

She is very nice, but she can tell if you try or not. If you try hard and attend class and participate, you can get an "A" but you have to do the work.

Nice person but a tough critic. You have to do all the work and she can tell if you did it last minute. DON'T PROCRASTINATE. She gives a terrible group project in which your group has to give a 20 minute "presentation" to the class.

She is a great teacher. She is all about making you feel calm and relaxed before a speech. She focuses more on your speeches than the book so always read the chapters she assigns for the quizzes. Dont skim them, read them. Took her my first semester of college and passed with B+ so I know anyone else can do it!

If you did poorly in Mrs. Hixson's class, then that is your own fault. It is very easy to get an A as long as you do the work, which is not difficult. She is very easy-going and helpful. Great attitude. Class goes by quickly because she doesn't just lecture. The only problem with the class I took was all the disrespectful highschoolers.

I had Hixson for Speech and Success Strategies. She is a super nice hippy kind of lady. As long as you do your work AND you're respectful you'll do fine. She made class fun and gave the class a relaxing vibe. She grades on effort not on ability. Take her!

I took both the success strategies and fundamentals of speech class which she taught. Her class is very relaxed and easy to pass, even though I only made a B in fundamentals of speech because I got anxious prior to giving speeches. Mostly, however, she grades on effort not ability. She is very nice and will work with you to turn in missing work!

Ms. Hixson is very quite,calm,person. She shows very little emotions, but really friendly and easy to talk to. She is also very understanding and that right there make life easy. if you have any questions or concerns she will help you through them and is there for you. I had no problem getting an A in her class

Loved this class. Hixson is amazing and breaks the ice for the students on the first day of class, makes us all be silly with balloons. She is an average grader, and gives great feedback. There are only 5 speeches you have to do , and she makes them easy and comfortable. I have a lot of public speaking issues and I got out with a B!

Mrs. Hixson was my College Success Strategies teacher. She is very nice and is a great teacher. I did not enjoy the journal entires or the group project, but other than that the class was great. Mrs. Hixson's class atmosphere is very relaxing.

Miss. Hixson was very helpful especially in the group project at the beginning of the class. Speeches were nice and easy as long as you do them. Everyone in the class was nice and got through the class with a A- there is a 5 point extra credit task. I would recommend her she gives great feedback and good grading not to picky

Professor Hixson is the sweetest lady in the world. I took her for both success strategies (last semester) and speech (just finished) and she goes above and beyond to not just teach you whatever subject you take her for, but life lessons as well. If you try, her class is an easy A or B. Seriously awesome lady.

Professor Hixson is a sweetheart. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Speeches are not hard at all, and she offers some amazing feedback as well to better yourself. Grading is very lenient! Very fun first day activity. A bonus is she let's you eat in class so that's good!

If you don't like speech, I would recommend taking this professor because she makes you have fun in speech class. She does provide ALOT of extra credit and she let you use notes for her quizzes. I would take this class again If I have the chance.

She is a very nice professor and is an understanding person. The only bad thing about her class is that she grades kinda harshly, but as long as you pay attention and follow the rubrics then you will be fine. You can't go wrong with picking her

Took her online for speech because of covid. Speech in an online format is hard on its own but was probably the easiest speech class I could have ever found. She was very understanding when I asked for helped or explained my situation. She gives pretty clear instructions and follows them when grading. Test are straight from the book. She's caring.

I love Professor Hixson! Her speech class was so fun, and I feel like I developed some skills that will stick in the long run. As for the speeches, super easy if you manage your time. Please do not wait until the last minute because they won't turn out well. I took this online, too, which made it a lot easier. Her feedback is so thorough and fair!

Great teacher and I learned a lot in her class. She includes many videos as well to help through the class. You MUST buy the textbook from McGrawHill or you wont be able to access the quizzes that are required in order to do well in this class. If you have any questions, she is very easy to get in contact with responding within a day or less.

Professor Hixion was such a great online speech teacher. She was a little nitpickey when it came to grading my speeches but she gave great feedback with an audio message of her talking about your speech and what you can improve on and then an outline of the final grade you received on that speech. She is very understanding and super helpful.

Professor Hixson for online courses does things almost entirely by the textbook for normal classwork, leaving individual research for your four speeches that you give through the semester. Gives videos explaining her criticisms of your work as well as grading with great detail. She accepted late work up to two days late for partial credit ~10%/day.

Made speeches feel doable and created a safe environment. Gave verbal feedback after each speech and written feedback. 5 speeches but you choose your topics for them all. She's kind and wants to see you do better each time. Lots of chapter reading and quizzes but just read the summary for each chapter and you'll do fine on the quiz. Quizzes online.

She is very dedicated to her students and teaching. She is lovely to talk to and always provides good feedback on speeches. She tries her best to make everyone feel comfortable with public speaking.

Professor Hixson gave detailed feedback after every speech! She is caring and soft spoken which, made the classroom feel comfortable to be in.

I took Professor HIxson for speech and it was a good experience. I don't love public speaking but she was super helpful and understanding. Not super harsh on grading. Couple quizzes here and there but they were doable. 5 speeches throughout the semester so not terrible. Overall would recommend!

This professor is amazing! She's very clear with what is expected of you in class and is available if you need help. You will do at least 4 speeches and she gives you a lot of time to get them ready. This class is really easy to pass if you show up and participate. Not a lot of homework, 1 online quiz every week and its super simple.

only about five speeches and quizzes every week based on the textbook reading. she is specific with grading speeches but gives an outline of exactly what she wants for each one. strict abt phones and attendance is graded i think? lectures are tbh pointless cause everything's in the book you have to read to do the quizzes.

Great class important to stay on top of your quizzes and stay on top of assigned speeches.
