Strict in what she wants done - once you get a hang of it, you'll be fine. Very hard to get in the A's - perfects your grammatics a lot. Which is good for the future. If she likes you - can be leanient. Don't get on her bad side!!!!

Very strict and pays attention to detail. Picks on people and makes fun of you if you mess up. Don't get on her bad side or she will put you on the spot. Very tough grader. She'll help you out though if you need help.

YES SHE'S TOUGH, YES,. SHE DOESN't smile but her work is what will prepare you for the rest of your lives. If it wasn't for her class I do not think I could succeed in my classes at teh level that I did. Look at this way, she's a strong, power woman who speaks her mind and is not afraid of anything.

Dr Vecchio is not so bad. She is really smart ,knows waht she is talking about and tell you right of the bat what she is expecting from you. She is really fair for she lets you revise your paper after letting you know what 's wrong with it. She is not easy but if you are willing you'll do great. Use the writting center and you are good.

Come on people, she is fine. She is very clear in her expectations and explanations, and if you are willing to put effort into your writing you will be rewarded. She does give good grades to those who work, but not to slackers. Also, she grades on the progress you make throughout the semester.

I had her my first semester at Baruch, in FALL 2005. I learned one thing, first impressions can be decieving! Yes she is strict, brutally critical, and against creativity. But YOU LEARN SOOOO MUCH!! She makes you realize your own mistakes and fix them, this forces learning. A truly rewarding exprnc, that will help you in ALL your other Eng classes!

she is a fair, boring teacher. Her classes are not so fun, she repeats herself a lot. Now so much reading, but a few essays, 2 in class essays, and a research paper. She does pick favorites, and picks on people she doesn't like. However, she lets the class to revise the papers, so it is not all that bad...not bad at all

Tough grader but not so bad. I definately learned a lot from taking her class. She teaches you how to find your mistakes and correct them. If you are lazy do not take her class. If you actually want to learn something, she will definately help. 5 essays, 2 oral presentations, and a research paper. Seems like a lot but it really isn't so bad.

oh u bet ya.she has her favorites. no one matter how much effort i put into a paper i always got the same grade as the ones i didn't. She really does pic on ppl she doesn't like. She talks nice w/ppl whom she likes but others she wouldn't even smile at them. Some ppl who i think weren't better then, they got better grades even if they are late.

Ignore bad comments! If you are seriously open to improving your writing and analytical skills she is the best teacher for it. Very helpful and understanding. Will drop lowest grade. Email assignments, not harsh on lateness. 1-on-1 sessions to improve grades and essays. Accesible after class in person, thru email & blackboard. Highly recommended.

OK i guarantee that you will hate her the first week..but after that you can see shes actually really nice and is amazing at teaching you the rights and wrongs of writing...I never did that much work and I'm getting by just fine with about a b+...a lil tough grading but not hard at all

The class includes 6 essays and 2 oral presentations, which is really reasonable. As long as you are open to improvement and hand in your work, you should be fine.

If you want to learn and improve your writing skills Vecchio is the perfect professor to take.

I'm not going to say she was a great teacher but looking back through the semester she wasn't horrible. Very hard grader and comes off mean, but not so bad in the end. Grades on improvement. A lot of work and I hated coming to the class but she did teach me alot in the end.

She makes you work, but if you're willing, she can really help you improve your writing style. This is the one class I've taken (I'm a senior in CIS) where I had to write a 10 page paper. You will be graded on how much you improve throughout the semester and how much effort you put in. Recommended if you're a serious student.

Ok people ignore all the bad comments. The people who wrote them got low grades and just want to get back at her..She is very clear in what she wants, so if you want a good grade just pay attention to her, do whatever she says and you'll do fine. Grades on improvement and effort. Extremely helpful!!! Highly Recommended!!!

She expects you to do EXACTLY what she asks (if you expect to get a good grade) She can be confusing at times. She has favorites, and does not like slackers. Recomend class for serious students. Can be rude at times..to people she obviously doesnt like. She likes to play mind games,to see how on top of it you are. Can be unpredictable at times.

ABSOLUTELY GREAT TEACHER! She is challenging and WILL MAKE YOU THINK, but you will definately come out being so much more of a great writer than before. She may seem a little dry at first but is pretty cool once you get to know her. A lot of work but definately worth it. Extremely helpful with feedback on your writing.

she is extremely helpful in terms of giving feedback. she is very quick in returning your emails. she can be seen as mean sometimes but she is actually very sweet. I would definately recommend her!

i think her husband left her or something because towards the end of the class she was obsessed with essays on failed marriages. Other than that she's very clear and picky about what she wants and sometimes she's mean; she doesnt like tardiness but if you du EXACTLY what she says on essays you'll be ohk def. not an easy A, i got a b+

She will tell you exactly what she wants. If you follow her rules, you will get an A and YOUR WRITING WILL IMPROVE. I repeat, follow her rules. This is not a bad thing. (btw dont by the text book)

Do what she tells you to and include voice in your writing only when needed. She might laugh at you and seem evil but she's trying to help. Overall your writing will improve.

Listen Dr. Vecchio is an amazing professor, probably one of the best. On the other hand she is an extremely difficult grader, she wants it only one way her way, if you are looking for an easy A stay far far away, but if you want to actually improve your writing and have a great teacher take her.

vecchio isnt so bad. yea, shes tough, but its really helped me learn. about 4 assignments during the semester, must read materials assigned bc they will go on to your final, and just dunt talk. she grades on improvement. honest grader. strict rubrics.

Great professor can be hard at times. She a very strict system that you MUST follow in the essays if you want a good grade. An A is obtainable but be prepared to put in a lot of work. Great teacher overall, i dont know why the person below says otherwise. She really cares for her students. Recommended if you like writing.

Vecchio is difficult, but she is one of the most knowledgeable professors of her field and will definitely help you become a better writer whether you want to or not. If you show interest (or pretend to) and at least make it look like your trying, she will extend due dates, flex your grade, and treat you right.

She can be mean and yell at you if you even glance down at the computer screen but... She gives you a grade that is based on how well you improved in writing. She tells you exactly how she wants you to write and if you follow it you'll be fine. (Though she'd fail me for using she three times in a row...) Take her, she'll really improve your writing

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Go the writing center every essay make sure they email her. Always do hw and be willing to speak up, picks on you less if you know your stuff. 1st Essay is important because you see what your not good at, TALK TO HER SO SHE CAN HELP YOU! She makes you a better writer. I only got a B, because I did not do all of those

Professor vecchio was a great teacher. She wasn't the most lenient of graders but that isn't what is important. Taking this class, stay focused on learning and you'll do well....

Very hard grader! You work hard and you still get a C. Useful knowledge but it is a lot of work.

A caveat: it's an academic writing class, not literature class. Power writing is her religion and she teaches the subject like pure science. Impersonal, does not bias. Very methodical, almost mechanical. I got a B+ overall. That said, I got an A in my final papers for two other courses the same semester. This is what you call proven results!

AVOID IF LOOKING FOR AN ESSAY GRADE! You bust your butt an the highest you'll reveive is a B. She thinks she's the most amazing professor there is. You do learn a lot but she has no people skills and picks on kids. She is very particular, and hates lateness. Textbook fairly used.

Took her after a B+ in ENG 2100 in previous semester. Improved immensely. Tough as always. Very stringent; not unreasonable though. Grades you against your past writing, not against others'. So, you might get the same grade as someone you thought was a better writer. Missed a few classes, completed all work. Got an A in the finals.

Very strict professor, but I learned a lot. Not the class to take if you're looking for an easy A. Papers are tough, but if you follow the instructions closely it shouldn't be too hard, and you get good feedback and chances for revisions. Don't ever be late or absent from class. Overall, take her if you're actually looking to learn something.

She knows the subject well and knows how to teach it. Boring class. She's very strict and a tough grader. If you don't follow her directions EXACTLY, don't expect more than a C on anything. 3 essays, 1 research and 2 verbal presentations.

She is an extremely strict professor, but she knows what she's doing and can teach. She will definitely improve your writing, but don't take her class for an easy A. 2 essays,2 oral presentations, research paper, midterm and final. Little to no homework. The books are required, she will call you out if you don't have it. Don't be absent/late.

She's extremely strict, but you will definitely learn a lot from her. I never got above an 80 on any of her essays or assignments, C- on the midterm, B+ on the final, and C- on her research paper (25% of your grade) and still got a B. Just make sure she sees your trying and participating. And make sure you go to class. She counts attendance.

Very strict at first. But the last day of class she's really nice because she's only hard on the students to force them to do better. Sure she's s tough grader but she forces kids not to be lazy. It's definitely not a hard class, if you show up everyday. Most of the papers due are worked on in class and she gives good feedback for improvement.

I absolutely love this lady. At first I was a little anxious because I thought she was strict but in reality she really cares for her students. You can sense her passion for teaching. You'll really learn a lot in just one semester, she gives great feedback and has pretty cool and creative assignments. I'm taking her again and I love her!!

She grades you based on how much you've grown over the course of the semester. Even though, she's a tough grader on papers; she gives good feedback for improvement. At the end of the term. she gives you the option to revise an earlier essay. She's a very fair woman, you get what you put in.

She is really a nice person if you put in effort to talk with her a lot about your work. Her feedback really is great and useful but her grading is EXTREMELY STRICT. Only 2 people in my class of 30 or so students got an A- or above. You really need to work HARD. If possible, choose another professor but this class helps if you dont mind a bad grade

She definitely one of the hardest grader I met at Baruch, but if you take her class, it is guaranteed that your wiring skills will improve.

I got a C on the very first paper, and I was about to drop the class - but then I had a discussion with her and just tried my best writing essays how she told us, and not only did I learn more than all of my other English classes combined, but received an A. She really cares about her students, and you learn so much. Love her

Tough, but a great professor! My writing improved greatly in her class, and if you respect her, she'll respect you. It helps to get on her good side through particpation, and even if it seems like the grades you got are bad, your final grade is better. I never got above a B+ on a paper, & got an A for the course. She's easily accessible, take her!!

Vecchio is a very tough professor, but she is very passionate about her class, and if you REALLY put in the work, you can certainly get an A. My writing improved more in her class than in any other other I've ever taken. She sets out very clear grading criteria for each paper, and if you don't follow it to a T, don't expect a high grade. Take her!!

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY A. She is a very tough grader and has high expectations for every student. She gives homework and we constantly upload the documents into Blackboard so you can't get away with not doing it. The HW ultimately helps with the essays. If you don't try in this class, you will fail. You will learn a lot

One of the hardest classes I've had so far. Class took place only in the dead of morning, which i dreaded, and she was very strict on grading. BUT I persevered, took her criticism to consideration and passed with an acceptable grade. Read, edit papers at least 6 times, be prepared before class. You'll pass only if you put effort into it!
