Monika is a great instructor. The course content is boring but she tries to make it as fun as possible with games and activities. She is always there if you need help and gives constructive feedback on assignments. However, she is a tough marker. Boring class but an Easy A
Assignments are long and feedback is not clear at all. She's helpful if you go see her but there's too much material covered. Provided hints for exam which made is easier considering the amount of the work load that was covered.
Dear nursing students, don't take this supposedly to be a bird course with this prof. Just don't, it doesn't help you with GPA and it may even drag your GPA down :( A lot of assignments, test are hard, have to attend all classes and read the textbook to order to get an B.
One of the worst I've ever had the misfortune of having a class with. She constantly crams her own philosophy's down your throat in this course. SOC 808 was a subtle church sermon where she lectures you on how the world's food supply is unsustainable, and that we have to change the world; but the execution makes my eyes water. AVOID THIS PROFFESOR
OK let me be fair. She's very enthusiastic and engaging in her class. Very devoted to healthy lifestyle and you can learn a lot. I like her personal experiences. But the assignments are not easy.. Need to attend class to get an A
She's young and knowledgeable. I like her. You can ask her everything about food and she'll be very passionate to answer them. Very interesting course if you like healthy eating. Will recommend. You need to work in order to get an A
Don't take this class thinking it'll be an easy A, I guarantee you it's not. Lecture attendance is soo crucial or else you'll miss everything, she doesn't go in detail in her slides. Talks a lot during class and over-covers material. She does the most, and gives a lot of work for an elective course
This class is not an easy A. But if you attend class and pay attention, you will be fine. There are no tricky questions on the exams. She makes the class fun and interesting so it is not too bad. I learned a lot about the food system and was inspired by many of the topics and lectures. I would recommend this class.
Monika is a very inspirational prof. She is very passionate about the topic of food and agriculture, and she is willing to listen to discussion and other view points. She is a fair marker, so if you take your time to study and put in some effort, you will be just fine.
The class is heavy in theory sometimes, but she does do fun things in class to make the content more interesting and more hands on. She does bring to class some interesting food, which made for some good discussions. She is very approachable, passionate about food, open-minded and understanding. If you stay on top of the work, you will be fine.
I adored Monika's passion throughout this course. She remains honest and objective while presenting somewhat controversial topics about the food system. She gets most of her test material from what she says in class, so don't skip! The readings aren't necessary but they are very interesting. One of my favourite soc profs to date.
An awesome teacher in general, very helpful and understanding with deadlines . It will make you care about the environment and what you eat if you're into that. She's also super accessible both through email and office hours. I would say it's an easy and enjoyable class if you put a little effort and just pay attention in class.
Overall great prof, final exam and assignments are extremely straightforward. Also very helpful and replies to emails fairly quick. Lectures are really interesting because of how enthusiastic she is about the topics.
Write down everything she says and skim over the readings. Very interesting lectures, but makes the course harder than other profs teaching the same course. Very passionate and knowledgeable.
She is an amazing prof, every lecture was super interesting. You need to really show up to class and take notes because the slides are usually images with little text. Aside from that, one of the best liberals I've taken so far. Exam and assignments are also very straightforward.
Professor Korzun is one of the best profs that I've encountered at Ryerson. She's very knowledgeable about the subject matter, and although it can be depressing stuff she finds a way to inject humour into class. She always keeps it interesting by bringing in food samples, having guest lecturers, or using fun online quizzes for review. 10/10!
The topics she teaches are interesting, so it's worth going to class. But she is a tough grader, and you are only graded on 2 assignments (very time consuming) and 1 final exam, so don't take her class if you want a high GPA.
Prof. Korzun is an incredible prof. You do have to show up to class to get a good grade, but the lectures are very interesting. She is passionate about the content and I wish I can take more classes by her. She makes classes interesting and fun by bringing in guest speakers, food and by playing games. One of the best classes I have taken.
Her lectures are decent and she tries to make them interesting by getting the class to discuss topics. Unfortunately there were only 3 opportunities to obtain marks. Nursing students, do not take thinking it has a light course load! Assignments require lots of work and she is a hard marker!
Personally, I took this course because I found it interesting and the prof made it interesting too. However, like many others have said, you only have 3 things that you are graded on so definitely allot enough time for that since doing poorly on one will really bring your mark down. The final was easy - finished at the hour hour mark and did well.
She is extremely knowledgeable. I found the content extremely interesting. She teaches fast but if you can keep up & take good notes then you're set. Only 3 chances to get marks, so everything is weighed heavily. Final exam is pretty straightforward and I found it easy. I got the book for the class, but I didn't even end up reading it.
Prof. Korzun is one of the best profs at Ryerson. She is passionate and makes it easy to participate and be engaged. If you are engaged in the class and pay attention, you will be fine. She provides constructive feedback for every assignment. The class may not be the easiest, I've taken, but she is fair and provides clear feedback.
Took this course thinking it would boost my gpa but sadly, it didn't. She is a great prof and provides amazing notes (ppts don't have much text) and the content is pretty interesting BUT she was a hard marker for the group project and essay, although the final exam was easy. You will learn a lot but if you want an easy A, don't take it.
Awesome prof. Funny and easy to understand. I wish she taught more courses.
Shes amazing! Very caring and chill... 2 major assignments and an exam. Lectures are actually interesting. Soc of food and eating
The lectures are amazing. You learn things in this class that you can apply to the real world. A bit of theory at the beginning but the rest is all very interesting. She uses case studies and stories that are current and that students are interested in. One of my favorite classes.
She makes her lectures interesting and likes to get the class involved with discussions. Her grading criteria is clear and the amount of work that has to be done for her class is minimal. Overall, I like her teaching style and you can tell that she cares for others opinions.
Monika is one of the most understanding professors at Ryerson. Yeah she marks a little hard but her assignments are very clear and straight to the point. I messed up on one assignment (there are two in total worth 35% each) and i approached her in her office hours and she was VERY chill and understanding about it. I would take her again.
WHY isn't she teaching more classes? Amazing prof. Her lectures are interesting and you can apply the information to the real world. Makes you think about things in different ways. She cares about the students and if you put a bit of work into it, the course will be easy.
A LOT of people here are saying if you skip class you won't do well. NOT TRUE.I never went to a SINGLE class of hers (except the very first one) and still got an A. She posts everything on d2l, and theres only 3 assignments and she does not mark them hard. During the tour, just quote the OPIRG a lot, and she will give you an A. Final was very EASY.
Love the class and the prof. I don't know what it is exactly about the lectures, but they are so interesting. Monika lectures in a fun and engaging way. She should be teaching more classes. Assignments are a bit demanding but in the end, as long as you follow the directions, it will be fine.
I had her as a guest lecturer and it was amazing. I wish I could switch to her section. So passionate and inspirational. Makes you think about things in a different way. Makes sarcastic jokes throughout the lecture which keeps you on your toes.
If you're wondering whether or not to take this course, do it. It consists of 2 assignments + a final exam: 1 research paper + 1 video assignment - both are fine & ur likely to do well - it's super hard to fail this class Monika is straight to the point (best lectures + slides), funny and super knowledgeable. 10/10 recommend, my fav class ever
She's a good prof and knows her stuff. However, as other students mentioned there are only 3 ways to do good in this class - the food banks essay, video and exam. The essay I found she was a hard marker on. I wouldn't take this class if you are looking for a gpa booster.
She's simply terrible. Her lectures are beyond boring just like she is. Her instructions are extremely unclear and she often takes back what she says. Extremely unprofessional when giving feedback and awfully rude as well. She does not have respect for her students. This course is NOT hard, this prof does not want students to do well.
The class is interesting, but the professor makes it way harder and more complex than it should be. Her rubric also does not align with what she says. She is extremely rude with her comments, which put a student down rather than motivate them. Not a GPA booster.
Prod was lenient on the group project. The essay was very vague and she didn't make her message clear to students. The exam was an evaluation which tested your memory, not what you have learnt.
Her lecture slides are not clear as she posts 1 word and talks about the rest. She focuses alot on farms while other classes had material that was different and more sociological based. Course seems interesting however, was not engaging at all
RUDE for no reason. Sarcastic in her feedback. not a fair marker. lectures are super boring and her power points have no information. hope this helps :)
The class is not a GPA booster, but it is very interesting. I had a lot of fun in the class. Monika does not post a lot on the slides, but tells a lot of stories, which makes the class engaging and interesting. I found her instructions to be very clear. She provides a lot of feedback and provides a lot of help with the assignments if you ask her.
Amazing prof. There was 1 group assignment, a paper, a open book quiz and exam. Quiz was easy. She gave a lot of hints in class about what will be on the exam. Group assignment was fun. The paper she was tough on, but fair. I really liked this class and did not find it hard. But you have to come to class.
Monika is an amazing lecturer. She is very knowledgeable and caring. Life changing course with her.
Monika is an awesome prof. Passionate, very accessible and understanding. She wants her students to do well. You have to show up to class, but her lectures are fun and easy to listen to. Slides are minimal but that forces you to listen to the lecture. I learned a lot from this class.
RUN, her lecture slides are blank with one word which forces you to listen to her ramble on about nonsense not related to the course. The essay topic was incredibly unclear. The assignments/video were incredibly unclear as well as most her instructions, which were vague. Feedback is more attacking than helpful as she's rude. I don't recommend!
Attending class is important but the lectures are fun and easy to pay attention to. She invites guest speakers and shows movie clips during lectures. The video assignment was a bit hard but ultimately it was fun to do. She is very accessible and explains everything very clearly. Straight to the point.
She is so nice, approachable and funny. She wants students to do well. It is not hard to get a good grade. You do have to come class though. Lectures a easy to listen to and she actually gives you information that is practical.
This prof is amazing. Yes, she is a tough grader on some things, but gives feedback that will make you better prepared for the next assignments. Lectures are very informative and you learn SO much. I absolutely LOVE this class.
Difficult marker.
Although she expects a lot from some of the assignments, the marking is fair and the lectures are great. She is very approachable and easy to talk to. She will help you out when you ask her. Very cool prof.
This professor is ridiculous!!! She expects way too much from her assignments, has only made one announcement since classes end bc of COVID - 19, slaps powerpoint slides without even having them filled out. She puts zero effort in to helping students learn & should really leave this profession. Her class that was my elective ended up being most di
I loved this class. Although she expects more than some other profs, I learned more in her class than in any other soc class. She makes you think about things in different ways. She was very well organized during covid19. she tried to keep everything as normal as possible. everything was very clear from the beginning.
Lectures and content overall was really interesting- loved each class I went to. However, I found that she marked quite hard on all the assignments. The only thing that brought my grade up were the tests. She also takes forever to grade things and to respond to emails. Overall though, good lecturer and fun course.
Sweet, caring prof and an overall interesting course! Powerpoints are scarce - MUST come to class to add missing info - she gives out specific definitions, statistics, and facts that are testable. NO textbook, weekly online readings (you pick 3 of them to do reflections on). One online quiz. Supermarket video tour assignment + all MC final exam.
My favourite class so far. She makes the content fun and is obviously very passionate about food. Awesome lectures. You must come to class to get the blanks on the slides. The transition to online was seamless. She made everything clear from the beginning.
Not an easy A, but a very rewarding and fun class. I took a lot away from this course. One of the best classes and profs at Ryerson.
The lectures and class in general are super interesting! Must come to class to fill in her slides. She marks hard and unfairly for the reflections- must write EXACTLY what she wants. This course is not an EASY A. it will lower your GPA. had to ace the exam for an A. Would take the class for the material but not with this prof.
She's an amazing lecturing, she was engaging and did not read off the slides. However she's a difficult marker, you must have strong critical thinking skills for her assignments. She gives good feedback though, as long as you follow it you'll see higher grades for your next assignments. Not a bird course, but I enjoyed the content.
Amazing lecturer. Makes class so much fun and interesting. She is quite funny as well. A bit of a hard marker, but if you follow instructions and the feedback, you will be fine. She is easy to talk to and very accommodating. I would take classes with her again.
Best prof and lectures ever! She is passionate and enthusiastic about what she teaches. I did not get bored in her class at all. Fair marker. Gives good feedback. Very approachable and caring. I left this class with a new outlook on food.
Soc808 with Monika was awesome. She is helpful and understanding. She clearly outlines what is required for the assignments and gives good feedback. If you follow the feedback, you will do better on the next short paper. I found the transition to online during Covid very easy. Everything was clearly outlined from the beginning in one email. Great!
I hate this prof. AVOID at all costs. i have no idea how others say she liked her. Her exams are sooo specific and difficult. Her assignments are so dumb and grading criteria is very confusing. Im a very good student but for this class it has been very difficult with her.
I liked this class and this prof. Some say she is a harder marker compared to the other instructors for this course, but I found everything clear and fair. She is helpful when you reach out and provides good advice and feedback when you ask her.
She is very nice, caring and approachable. She replies quickly to emails and engages in the class online discussions. The class is textbook heavy so readings are a must. Feedback is helpful. If you follow the feedback, you will do better on the following assignments. Overall, I learned a lot in this class.
Monika is a terrible prof, her exams are super unclear & some of the questions, I have no idea where she gets it from because I've done all the readings & modules and wrote over 30 pages of notes studying for an exam. Her exam questions also don't make sense and she gives a short time to complete it, it's like she doesn't edit her questions/answers
Her exams do not make ANY sense. What you learn in the modules and textbook do not match her exams. Asking for additional assistance was pointless, she gave back vague answers and did not want to help you. Her exams are worth 60% of your grade, so hard to get your mark up if you do bad on one of them. One of the worst professors I have ever had!
great!
The exams are extremely textbook heavy. The only reason I did very good on them is because I made sure to read the textbook, even then the notes were 50 pages long. The modules barely made an appearance onto the exams. She marks way too hard for the discussion posts that are only supposed to be 300 words. Her feedback on them makes no sense.
This teacher is the most inconsiderate teacher I have ever come across at Ryerson. She does not give a damn about you and your success. If you are looking to do well and receive a good quality educational experience, I highly recommend steering clear. That is all.
AVIOD AT ALL COST! GPA KILLER! Does not care about your marks or success. Marks unnecessarily hard, even when you follow her instructions. Hard to please.
This Prof is awesome. The content was relevant and the assignments and tests were fair. She replied to emails quickly and was very supportive and understanding. Also, do not cheat in this class. Students were caught on the exam.
Awesome prof. Well organized and helpful. She can expect a lot but also helps you along the way. One of my favorite classes.
AVOID AVOID AVOID, I made a mistake reading ratemyprof reviews. Only 3 positive reviews, currently taking this class and OMG this class requires WAY more work and effort compared to my ACTUAL courses that I NEED when I graduate. I have taken this as an upper liberal and I WISH I could go back into time. Hard marker, midterm is hard, reflection hard
Maybe this class was better for the people who had it in person, she is not a good prof for an elective course like this. Gives hours of work, literal overload just for it all not to prepare you for the midterm. Midterm barely involved lecture material and I had many pages of notes. She is a hard marker and the class is basically history of food.
It was very lecture heavy and had, arguably, too many readings to do outside of class. She is a confusing and tough marker when it came to the reflections and discussion board questions, and gives little when you follow her feedback. The midterm was too specific, with some questions worded weirdly, and barely included any lecture material.
The class is well organized from the beginning. All the information you need is there from the beginning. The classes are structured in a very flexible manner so you can do it on your own time. She is a tough grader on the reflections but marks easy on the discussion board assignments as long as you do it on time. Awesome class.
A very tough grader. Even if you follow the assignment instructions, she still won't be satisfied with the work. As an elective course, the work load is excessive. The pre-recorded lectures are long, as well as the videos and texts that you are required to complete. An interesting course but one that demands a lot of work for little reward.
This class is awesome. Yes, she marks hard but gives good feedback. If you follow it, you will be fine. She is passionate about the topics. Lectures keep you engaged. I recommend.
has 3 reflections but does not give clear criteria on it and then gives bad marks on it. even when you use her feedback she will still give you a bad mark
I really like this prof and class. Very helpful when you ask for it. She replies to emails very fast and addresses your concerns quickly. It is not the easiest of classes, but it is not bad. Just follow the instructions. Very interesting topics. I learned so much.
If your thinking of taking this class pls listen to the reviews and avoid at all costs. The workload and expectation is way to much especially for an elective. The midterm was confusing and she marks hard on reflections. This course is certainly a gpa burner
I think this class is awesome. We cover interesting topics and it is obvious she puts a lot of work into organizing the class. She is very passionate about the topics. I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I have done well in the class. Yeah, you have to put some work into it but she marks fair.
too many assignments and never gives clear feedback
Monika is very passionate about the subject. I really enjoy listening to all her lectures. I feel like I am actually learning something in this class. However, she is a tough marker so if you are looking for a bird course, this isn't it. But the content is great and really makes you think.
Really enjoy her lectures. Even though they are recorded, they are easy to listen to. You can tell she is really knows what she is talking about and really loves this subject. Not the easier of classes, but definitely learned a lot. Would take class with her again.
Dr. Korzun definitely knows what she's talking about and her recorded lectures were engaging and not a drag . However she's a tough grader and the sheer amount of readings you have to do makes her not the best prof if you're looking for an easy Upper Liberal. But if you're chasing knowledge over a good grade; she's a solid choice.
Completely vague expectations for reflection assignments. Gives vague feedback. Hard to figure out what she wants. Must do all readings and assigned material to gather information for tests. Tests on specific facts. Feels like shes out to get you rather than teaching ideas and values. Worst kind of professor ever.
Monika is an extremely tough grader and gives very vague feedback on how to improve performance. She has 3 reflections (30%) and grades everyone in the 70s for all. She also expects a lot from her discussions(20%) and always claims that the comments don't match. Her exams are very specific and fact based. Take Donna or Gringas for this class.
Monika is knowledgeable but the sheer amount of reading and writing I had to do for this course for such a tough grader like her was not, worth it. If you want to take SOC808, take any of the other professors. You really don't need this stress in your life.
Even if your assignment deserves an A, she's one of those professors who doesn't like giving As out so most of the class had grades in the 70s. Draggy lectures and a massive amount of readings. Do NOT, take this course with her. You don't need additional stress in ur life.
Monika is very passionate about the course and covers many interesting topics. However she is a very tough grader. She doesn't seem to give students a chance and often makes u work for it. There is a ton of readings each week. Def a very stressful elective
She gave me such an unnecessary level of stress for an Upper Liberal course. She's a tedious grader and makes her exams in a way to trick you instead of teach you. If you want to take this course, take it with someone else. You really don't need to add more stress to your life.
I took this class for upper liberal because everybody said it was a bird course, but I chose a wrong professor. This class felt like a mandatory class with so many readings, recordings and videos to watch every week. Dr. Monika needs to realize that we have other classes too and giving so much to read and watch every week is not reasonable!!!
Electives are mandatory in order to well-round a student, not add more stress to their already tumultuous University life. Even in this pandemic Monika sets out to mark things as stingy as she can (refusing to give anything above a 79%) and pours so many readings into the course to make exams out to trick you than test TLDR: don't take it with her!
It's just an Upper Liberal but she's structured it like a mandatory course filled with so many readings. As someone in a STEM program already, this just piles more work onto my already stressful life and to add to that she's also a tough marker on Reflections and Discussion board. Do yourself a favour and take this course with someone else!
She's inconsiderate, has really long and wordy exams and marks really hard on reflections. She is knowledgable but I will not be taking her again.
Would not advise to take, it's safe to say the amount of studying and note-taking for this course is equivalent of taking 2 MANDATORY courses within your program. Prof does not realize that this is an Upper Liberal, so much stress already from covid and she made this course INSANELY hard. DO NOT TAKE HER you have been WARNED.
huge no! the workload was too much for a liberal course, she's a tough marker and even if you follow your guidelines she still gives you a low mark. Then for the final exam she takes a random, little fact in the assigned readings or movies you might miss and makes a question from it. So much stress for a nonmandatory course!
it's a no from me. Swear this course took more of my time watching lectures, reading papers, watching documentaries than my mandatory business courses. Don't take it with her, don't waste ur time.
I don't get why there are so many bad reviews. Monika is awesome and you can learn a so much in this class. She marks really easy on the discussion board but a bit more tough on the reflections. You have to put effort into this class, but it is worth it. I would recommend if you actually want to learn something interesting.
She's very knowledgeable so her lectures add a lot of explanation from what's on the slides. There was a lot of readings/videos that are testable, but imo the interesting content made up for it. She marks easy with the discussion posts, but hard in the reflections (don't expect anything above an 80). Overall, a great learning experience!
This class with Monika was awesome. Lectures were amazing and she is quite funny. A bit of a tough class, but it was not bad. She is also very nice outside the class and is very helpful and understanding.
Monika didnt have the best ratings when I was taking her so I was nervous. Turns out she is a great prof. It wasnt hard to keep up with her class online. Tests were straightforward and I really recommend watching her lectures and doing the readings for good grades. A little tough on marking reflections but she helped me better my writing.
her lectures are very interesting however, she made her exams insanely detailed that if you must remember every single thing you read from the assigned articles which are 10 pages long and she assigns way too many readings on top of watching long videos. I put more effort into this course than my own program. I strongly don't recommend her.
This online class took up ALOT of my time. Every week there are recorded lectures, readings, and vids. Youre expected to spend 8+ hours a week. Everyone receives the same mark and copy and pasted feedback on assignments, it goes up 2-4% every assignment. You have to rely on the exams to boost your mark, but there is NO exam review. I ended witha 83
Monika was awesome. The lectures and amazing and the topics are relevant and very interesting. I learned a lot from this class. She gives good feedback and exams are straight forward. This class is not as hard as people make it.
Monika is kind and caring. She really wants students to do well and become better thinkers and writers. The topics are relevant and interesting and her lectures and materials are very engaging. I would take more classes with her in a heartbeat.
she is a hard marker, never gives A's. Exams were hard and based off the readings in the course. Try to take this upper elective with another professor
Monika was awesome. Lectures were engaging and videos were very interesting and relevant. She is also very helpful outside the class. I didn't find her to be a hard market. If you pay attention to the feedback, you will improve.
This prof is awesome. She marks fairly and if you listen to her feedback on the written assignments, you will improve your writing in general. She is easy to listen to and content is so interesting.
Monika cares about her students and she will dedicate herself to helping you if you ask. Lectures are amazing and she is quite funny as well. Monika makes you think about food in a different way.
very very not nice prof, she doesnt provide rubric for the assignments but she marks whatever she want if you take this course with her you have to read article, watch lecture, and watch video she uploads. i would not want to take her course again
Amazing Prof. She is caring and understanding. Easy marker on the discussion board. There are no surprises on the exams. Lectures are fun. She includes videos as part of the assigned readings, which is awesome. One of the best classes ever.
One of my favourite classes! Monika gives amazing lectures. They are a bit long for online, but they are fun to listen to. I did not find her a difficult grader. Very fair and no surprises. I learned a lot in this class and really made me think about food and other social issues differently. Highly recommend.
best class and best prof ever. she makes you think differently about the world. kind of funny too. not a hard marker. would like to have class with her in person.
She is an extremely tough marker, we finished an entire presentation and she was petty enough to fail us with a 45%. She also gave me a 60% on an 11 page essay. Although its an elective class, be prepared to let it drop your average. Midterm was quite tough as well. Be careful of her marking, she doesnt go easy at all
Is this class an easy upper liberal? No. Is the class interesting? Not particularly. Is there lots of reading? Yes. Definitely a hard marker. Group Proposal, Individual Report, Group Presentation, Midterm and Final Exam. Exams are undoable, for the mere fact that she tests you on the most specific, most random information from irrelevant readings.
While I did enjoy the course content, professor Korzun is an extremely hard marker. She gives no clear rubric, and because of this, myself and others did not do well on the paper because of its vagueness. The midterm and exam were tough but doable. For an elective course, this class is not easy. Do not recommend.
proffesor Korzun is an extremly hard marker. her lectures were very long and she has so many required readings and videos. her exams asked very specific questions and some of them were not in any content provided. wish she gave a bonus assignment to boost marks because so many people in the class did poorly
very unclear instructions and grading criteria. extremely tough prof. be prepared to work extra hard for her class, you will not get over a 70 (most likely less), no matter what you do. oh, beware of the group project. if you get one bad member, all of you are screwed. be ready to cry over a food class.
Worst class and professor I have had. Limited instruction, more than 6hrs a week spent on content and readings. Marks extremely hard. Exams have impossible expectations!!!
Thinking of taking this food class because it's about food and you expect it to be easy? Guess again. As a matter of fact, run as fast as you can to the other direction. I've never gotten lower than an A- in any classes and I flunked the course and dropped out when I could. This prof makes your life miserable and impossible to succeed. RUN.
Slow at replying to emails, not very helpful when you eventually do receive a response. Beware of group project, if even 1 person isn't very bright - prepare to do all the work because otherwise you WILL fail and I'm not exaggerating on the fail part. This prof has no mercy lol. Please save yourself the tears and avoid her class
Not sure why this prof is being evaluated so badly. The exams cover lectures and readings. This is made clear from the beginning. Overall the prof give clear feedback and is very helpful. The content is interesting. It is not the easiest class, but if you put some effort into it, you will be fine.
Professor is extremely slow when responding to emails and isn't very collaborative with her students. Exams are confusing and prof goes out of her way to ask the most difficult questions. Students given to much content (readings, modules, lectures etc) and no study guide making it almost impossible to know what information will be on the exam.
Very tough marker and guidelines are not clear in assignment descriptions. Very content heavy, several readings, movies and videos to watch. Information is interesting but a lot to cover on a weekly basis. Very hard to reach and does not respond to emails in a timely manner. I would recommend not taking this class unless it is mandatory
This prof cares for her students and is very accommodating. I found the assignments interesting and the exams fair. I contacted Monika several times and she was very helpful. Not sure why she is getting a bad rap. Everyone in my group enjoyed the course and the content. Very thought-provoking class.
Awesome prof. Wants students to do well in class. Very helpful if you meet with her. Book was boring but lectures were informative. Good course. learned a lot. I would take other classes with her.
She is an incredibly nice professor, and always responded to my emails but the textbook was absolutely useless, save yourself the money and don't buy it. The course is two tests and a 50% group project, it was an interesting course, i just thought the textbook was useless to the course.
The class was very interesting. Monika is kind and caring. I spoke with her a few times outside of class and she was very understanding. I would recommend the class and prof. There are two group assignments so choose your groups early. Overall, great experience.
WORST PROF EVER! DO NOT TAKE HER! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! SHE IS PRAYING ON YOUR DOWNFALL! EXAMS ARE STUPID AND LECTURES ARE SUPER LONG FOR NO REASON!!!!!
literally not a single person in the class can get above a 70 on their essay bcuz of her unclear rubric... she says our essays aren't specific enough but her rubric and guidelines is whats lacking specificity. dont buy the textbook, its almost as useless as this prof.
She is a very tough grader and makes the assignments complicated for zero reasons. Would not recommend taking CSOC 808 with her.
Not sure why this prof gets a bad rep. She might be tough, but she is fair and feedback is good. She is serious about plagiarism and cheating so do not cut corners. The information in the course is useful and interesting.I learned a lot.
This class will be difficult if you don't make the time for it. The content is interesting and engaging with many interactive components. Make sure you really understand what is being asked in the assignments, take good *detailed notes*, and read the textbook. You NEED the textbook. Monika is a fair marker who gives direct, relevant feedback.
Professor Monika is very helpful when you need help or are stuck. She gives you good feedback so you can improve your next submission. Class is not stressful at all.
Dr. Korzun's rubrics are unclear. When asked for clarification, she gives feedback, but does not follow through with her responses when grading material. Supposed to be an easy A, but ended up being one of the most difficult classes. She provides thorough feedback to assignments, but will penalize you for things not inclued in the rubric.
