She's nice however there's homework everynight. The work load is high and she expects it all turned in. She does allow resubmissions with corrections but she's confusing and annoying at times.
She really cares. Whenever I see her on campus she is helping a student. Sometimes I don't want to be there but I always learn something. The tests are open book and easy if you do the handouts and the homework, hard if you do not. An excellent class for good students who don't like math but are willing to learn.
She helped me become a decent math student (didn't think I'd ever hear myself say that). She is demanding but in a nice way and she sometimes lets you have extensions. Don't hate math so much anymore thanks to this prof.
For a freshman level course required for graduation, she gives way too much homework and the exams are way too hard. She's a nice person, but takes the subject way too seriously considering it's a 100 level. She gets upset if the class isn't excited enough about the material. I learned a lot in this class, but the exams just confused me.
this teacher is really helpful and a great teacher. i really learned the material. but maybe that's because there was a massive amount of work over the course of the semester. long homework assignments every night, and a lot of stuff due right up until the final exam. super nice, will help you in any way she can-but she gives a lot of work
She's a great teacher!! You will learn a lot. Study her handouts they are practically lecture notes and really thorough. Stay on top of the homework because once you're behind its murder to catch up. Also pay attention to all the homework problems including the ones she doesnt assign--some of the test questions come straight from the book!
Shes a great prof, very clear and helpful with the class work, her lectures come right from the handouts so make use of them, the tests arent too bad, she gives alot of bonus questions too so those help, but if you study youll be fine, the project at the end of the semester is alot of work so be prepared.
Monique is a wonderful teacher. She goes out of her way to meet with students and is very helpful overall. There is a decent amount of work for the class including a group presentation, 4 big tests, and regular homework. However she gives extensions all the time. She is a extremely sweet lady and is invested in her students. Take Q114 with her! :)
Fun class, pretty simple, practical math/reasoning (LOTS OF EXCEL). Work piles up in the last month (test, final, assignments, final project...) but Prof. is extremely patient, flexible, and understanding. I was freaked out about this class before and during, but got out with a good grade with hard work. Makes you want to do more math!
Extremely caring&helpful prof. i hated math, she really helped open my mind to being literate in understanding mathematical things going on around me. u know, interpreting statistics, working with spreadsheets, etc. Things any college student should be familiar with. Just a really nice person too. We all take Q114, this is the prof to take it with
Great class. Inspired me to take more math.
Monique is a wonderful person and a good teacher. All the tests except the final were open book/open notes, however, the notes she hands out are really verbose and you'll never use the book. There is far too much writing for a math class, and it takes too much time. I did very well in math for once, though, and she's very enthusiastic and kind.
The single worst teacher I've had in the five years I have been at college. DO NOT TRUST THESE REVIEWS. Monique is mentally disconnected from what an entry-level Math class should contain, does not even attempt to engage her students, never utilizes the textbook, and is incapable of writing clear, understandable questions.
never take this class with prof fuguet. I have NEVER in my life written so much for a math class. does not engage and uses weird/non math words. none of the homework prepares you for the tests it just is writing and pointless. do not listen to other comments. worst class ever. the assignments/tests are ridiculously long/annoying and so is she.
Ther's a simple formula for success in Monique's class. Do the problem sets and you will ace her tests. Don't be stupid and skip them. Also if you love writing this is a great course since she asks for lots of short essays on topics related to what we have done in class and your own life. I liked her and she helped me a lot.
sheis a sweet woman but her class does not compare to other 100 levels..there is some sort of paper due every week along with problem sets.in class test is too long and take home tests take anywhere from 6-10 hrs she does offer a lot of bonus points which is helpfulbut unless you like math and doing the work dont take it with moniqueshe will work u
She is very nice but YOU HAVE TO WRITE IN HER CLASS. this is WAY to much work for a 100 level class. its ridiculous, at the end of the semester she puts A LOT of pressure on getting work in. She is nice and helpful but I would never take this class again
Monique is great, she makes you understand why you need to know math since it is everywhere. Attendance is optional but don't skip class, once you fall behind it is hard to get caught up. Tests are open book, not much memorization. Good teacher if you are math phobic, she will help you a lot.
WAY too much writing in this class. Expects wat too much from students, makes you do a million things at once and half are not even graded NEVER used txtbook waste of money. puts waay too much pressure on students at the end of the semester. assignments due every week. HEAVY WORK LOAD, TIME CONSUMING. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS !
great teacher and good course. in life you have to interpret numbers not just calculate them. that is what QR is all about, what do the numbers mean. the written homeworks are for practice interpreting. the problem sets are for practice calculating. the tests and quizzes are a combination. also buy the book used, its cheaper and worth the money.
This class was a complete waste of my time and money. Never have I been subjected to a class where did did so much busywork, and yet learned so little. WAY too much writing; there's some kind of paper due each week. Monique is a very nice woman though, is very helpful to her students, and is a fair grader. But she'l swamp you with tedious crap!
heavy workload, lots of writing assignments. Textbook was a waste, don't bother buying it. Monique was very nice but my only complaint on her part is I never knew where I stood in terms of my classroom grade as she passes work back very late.
I'm still taking the class: If you like Math and a lot of hard work take her. If you don't,run! She is unclear, moves too fast, jumps back and forth from different material. You also have 10 research papers that can take hours to do, a group presentation and 6-10 page paper on the presentation, 4 (7-9 page tests, including a cumulative final. Some EC.
Ridiculous amount of work. I want to warn all the people who need to take QR114. Don't take it with Monique or she'll really work you. There's a lot of writing in this class, there's 4 long tests, and a group presentation. If you struggle with math this class will not help you it will make your semester a nightmare.
Understanding the problem sets and in-class exercises is key to doing well on tests and quizzes. Being there to take non-credit quizzes earns you extra credit. 10 homeworks but lowest 2 are dropped, group project with presentation and writeup, 10 homeworks but lowest two are dropped, 3 semester tests, one final.
Math for Art/English majors. If you are comfortable with percentages in word problems, you will do fine. Lots of writing for a Math course, 8 "mini-papers" assigned- mostly looking in media for examples of Quantitative math. For those who are below a College Algebra level. Fuget is extrememly down to earth and relatable.
She's very approachable. When asking questions in class, be prepared. Ask exactly what you want to know or need clarity on. She's laid back and super lenient (we have open book tests). She wants her students to do well in her class as long as they are putting in equal effort to do so.
Too much work for this class.
INFORMTAION OVERLOAD felt like i was a math major and if your a slower learner DONT BOTHER.We went through a packet a day and each were different topics. She lets you keep notes for some tests but by the end of class my brain hurts, ESSSAYS in a math class?-yes.Felt like someone told her to cram as much as she could into 1 semester
Great teacher, easy going, but you do have to keep up if you want to do well (duh it's MATH!) No packets. Don't know what the previous rater meant. We used an online text, book was FREE! 2 midterms, final, small data analysis project, nightly/weekly homework.
i'm an artist and thought i'd hate this class but monique made it worth my while. new ways to think about numbers blew me away. did my project on digital artists. learned enough excel i can use it to estimate taxes and budgets savings. useful stuff.
This class was horrible and she talked down to everyone, i should've done pass/fail
i was nervous to take this course but monique and dori were very supportive and helpful and kind. now i wish i had not put off taking this for 4 years. they explained things so well it made sense and convinced me i could do it. i did pass fail but extra credit and takehome homework on the tests meant even i could have gotten a good letter grade.
TAKING THIS CLASS RIGHT NOW, SHE IS REALLY WILLING TO HELP. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO TRY AND PUT THE WORK IN, YOU SHOULD DO FINE IN HER CLASS. THAT IS HOW I FEEL SO FAR, BUT WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT CHANGES.
I retract my former positive statement of this teacher. She doesn't give enough time for quizes, I literally find myself either rushing through and getting everything wrong or not having enough time to complete the quiz, every quiz! Her lectures are sometimes helpful, but often times she gets angry when you ask questions&makes mistakes&confuses you
HAWTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Monique is a nice person but she just moved way too fast. She would go through so many chapters and when asked to use class as a review session she refused to go over previous material. At this point I don't even know if I passed her final. To take this class, you have to pay attention and do all the projects. If you get lost there's no catching up
She gets simple math problems incorrect. She has no game plan before class starts; basically she wings it.
The material was REALLY hard, and the professor did not help me much. I went to her office at least twice, and I went to an after school session, and really struggled. Not enough time for quizzes and tests, and really did not help me overall.
Unfortunately as the semester progressed Monique got worse. We have 3 tests worth 20% then the final is worth 40%. We only got back one test leaving us having no idea what our grade was. She messes up her own math all the time. A lot of excuses. Oh and she posted extra credit, but the blackboard was deleted before the deadline.Very Dissapointed
Solid teacher. Homework problems for entire semester were provided first week so you knew far in advance what you would need to do. 7 quizzes for extra credit meant feedback regularly plus an easy way to pull up your grade. True, she did not get Tests 2 & 3 back in a timely manner, but other than that, she was great.
She presented the material in a variety of ways to help me better understand the concepts.
She means well but is a complete scatter brain. She is constantly making little mathematical errors that she is unwilling to fix. Is pretty crazy about changing the dates of test and quizzes. Oh and she comes to class with the flu and won't cancel. Shes nice and all but definitely not a top professor in my opinion
Terrible Teacher. Didn't get us grades by pass/fail deadline. Do not take this class.
Please don't do it to yourself! She gives attitude when unnecessary, assigns essays more than she assigns MATH HW. I felt this was more of an English class than Math class. She was unable to give my class our grades on time for P/F deadline. Nobody knew their grades until AFTER! -_-
This class sucks! She sucks at teaching and does not remind you if homework is due and constantly expects you to go on stupid blackboard. The only good thing is the extra credit opportunities, she gives a lot. She also is very unclear with her material. If you just wanna take an okay class, then take this class but if you get confused easily don't.
she is a horrible teacher, doesnt help you simple classwork. And moves way too fast! Always late for class and sometimes doesnt even show up!. She talks down to her students and is just a horrible person in genera;. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
Worst professor ever that made me dislike math! She is regularly absent or late and she still gives us tests when we're not even prepared and ready for it. Furthermore, she has been absent so many times this semester (more than 10 times) that we're not ready at all to take the finals!!!! She also takes mad time to gives our quizzes and tests back.
I don't know how she has a job. She was absent about 7 times this semester, and half of those times she only warned that she wouldn't make it just a few minutes before class. She moves really fast. What she goes over in class is nothing like what's on the tests, especially the final. She is not understanding of her students at all. Disorganized.
No doubt it was hard to get threw the class was very bored at times. The teacher did in fact postpone test and quizzes a lot. what was really upsetting is how frustrating you get in the class. When you email her she does not respond back until its too late. She explains stuff in most the most difficult and long way.
i took a class with monique last summer and she was terrific. i went to her office and she explained things to me until i got it. this semester she did not live up to her teaching potential like last summer. at least she took responsiblity and scaled to make up for the problems so nobody's grade suffered.
Just not that good at teaching. She doesn't show up to class, always late, always has an excuse for something, and blames stuff on the student. Overall she's a good person, but definitely would NOT recommend her to anyone.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR... retake the placement test or wait for another professor. this class was so boring and hard.!!! its not her. Its the material like it is so impossible to remember things in this class. she gives extra credit. and to ways to grade your final. so YOU WONT FAIL. as long as you TRY... PROMISE
Her class goes by quick but it's a little boring. She give you a print out of the textbook but you use the computer version. Material is interesting but she goes too quick sometimes. Quizzes are extra credit so not a big deal. Just take good notes.
Interesting class. About 50% critical thinking 50% math. Knowledgeable teacher, good explanations, gives insights into why/what. Open lab tutoring and office hours worth it. Tests are open note. Extra credit possible. Recommend.
Extremely helpful professor, a staggering amount of extra credit. Math has always been difficult but even with almost failing every test, she gives you so much partial credit for every question that you attempt, even if you get it wrong. Great teacher! Goes a bit fast but is very open to helping her students whenever she can. Late sometimes.
Very good teacher and is very nice. Thorough explanations to the different problems. Class is not easy but she is helpful if you take advantage of extra help/office hours. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities which is very helpful to your grade.
Horrible professor! Acted as if we already knew everything when we didn't and just reviewed things. When it was time for tests everyone was totally unprepared
horrible teacher, doesn't show up for class, does not give warning of her absence, had to go to the chairman of math for assistance on receiving test and quiz grades back. save your self and do not take this woman as a teacher
Really great teacher!! Clear explanations. Very responsive to student questions. Took our needs into account. Always willing to stay late for extra help. She made math concepts easy for me to apply to things in real life at home and at work. My boss is happy about that. I will never forget how to calculate a weighted mean!
Highly recommend this professor! Text was a free PDF. A few 1 1/2 to 2 page papers, 2 tests and a final. A HUGE AMOUNT OF EXTRA CREDIT! Come to class every day, do the extra credit, and stay for extra help if you need to too and you CANNOT fail this class. The people below that gave a bad review just did not care or go to class.
Horrible professor!!!! She Talks down to her students and she is not willing to help! Also when she goes through the material she goes over it way too fast.
She is a great professor! If you are struggling in the class you have to be willing to talk to her. She is soo smart. 1 midterm 1 final 1 take home and an optional project and group quizzes.
She has the tendency to speak in a sarcastic manner, towards the students / talks down (sometimes very rude / can get moody) She does not create an environment where the students feel comfortable asking questions. She does not really explain things well, gives VERY long exams, a lot of homework and 3 to 4 math essays . I would not recommend.
Missed over half of our classes this semester, got to the point where we had to go to the chairman of the dept and the dean of the college of math. Only reason she probably is still teaching is because she has ten year
apparently a few students sought out the head of math because she was refusing to give back a test and was about to make us take a chapter test without knowing how we did on the last test... class is tough with her, if you buckle down you may pass but lord knows a pass is a 60 ;/
She's okay. She doesn't really explain things, she just goes through problems really fast. She kinda talks a lot too.
Don't take her!!!!!!!! Don't do it!!!!!!!!!! she doesn't grade homework at all which is bad because it all comes down to the quizzes!!
Shes just incredible
Worst teacher I've ever had. Gives so much homework but does not grade any of it. Does not stop talking from the beginning of the class until the end. You will literally not learn anything from this class. Her tests are really hard. Your grade is basically based on the tests.
Professor Fuguet is not good at teaching math because she shows up late and never explains concepts well. I tried to stay after and get extra help and she was very confusing and stressful. Do not take a math class with this Professor!
She doesn't give anything graded back, basically you walk in there blind everyday not knowing what you have in that class
She is a horrible professor. She gets irritated when people ask questions or recommend that she uses an easier solution for math problems. Very sarcastic and unwilling to help you pass. She also goes through the material very fast and expects students to understand the material with her talking at 65 MPH
The worst teacher ever. Never shows up on time for class, (30 mins late to a 50 min class). had our first test in the end of april of the spring semester. we didn't even get that grade back. you can t ask her questions because she give you a smart ass response. Speeds through the work so you still don't understand. lets you out late. WORST EVER
It felt like there was a wall between the professor and the class, because she would talk fast about concepts that no one could understand. Due to grading system, students should pass. Show up to most classes, take advantage of extra credit, and show all work on exams to get partial credit. Do grading option B, exams are 60 percent of grade.
Best and nicest algebra teacher I ever had! Lots of topics covered quickly, but that's the nature of the course, it's a comprehensive review. Follow her advice about homework & studying, memorizing, summary notes, get a tutor or see her, she's available before & after class, you can come out with what you need. Doesn't respect slackers.
Great professor. Explained all the concepts in simple English, and took the time to make sure everyone understood them. The homework assignments are great preparation for the exams. I highly recommend taking a course with Professor Fuquet.
She never gave back any work and she would tell you where you stand after the pass/fail deadline. She didnt follow the syllabus at all so we had one test and the final to determine our semester grade. Shes rarely on time to class.
She's a very nice teacher but her teaching method isn't the greatest. She gets confused so it makes it much more difficult to understand the questions.
She has so many missed days and most of the time never notifies students that she will be late. If you ask her to explain something you dont understand, she will ignore you. There is no syllabus so you wont know what you will be doing. She will never give back homeworks or tests. Honestly, just dont take her if you value your education.
I had this teacher for math 115, I do not like her teaching. The teaching style is flipped which I regret taking I am basically teaching myself the class. I havent learned anything. When you go for help much isnt offered, questions are usually not answered. If you think you can teach yourself the material then take the class. Good luck.
I was totally lost in this class for the first half of the semester, most of the concepts are actually fairly easy in retrospect but the way she went about teaching them over-complicates them to no end. Also, she hasn't posted a single grade the entire semester--I'm writing this after finals. One upside is you learn a lot about excel if you need it
Honestly not a great professor at all. She did not hand back or post one grade the entire semester. The content was pretty simple but her class made it seem so difficult, and most of my class struggled. We are expected to learn by teaching ourselves with the textbook which is not the easiest thing to do with math. Boring and awkward class.
Her teaching method is horrible basically you have to teach your self everything. You pay so much money for school plus the program you have you pay to teach your self the math. You will never get a test back. Never answers emails, misses class a lot. Doesn't give out extra credit. You will never know what your grade is. Good Luck!
I took her class my first year at Umass, I should have swapped out as soon as I heard her say "I want you guys to teach yourselves and each other the material" . If you need to take Math 114 I would recommend taking it with Mark Pawlak (I had to retake the class after failing hers). She never replies to emails and makes the material 1000x harder.
worst professor at umb. i truly cannot put into words how awful she really is. if it wasn't for tenure she would have been fired a long time ago.
Just don't. You will regret it. Made Algebra feel like it was the hardest thing ever. Just don't do it.
She's the absolute worst. Very unprofessional - always late, spends 5-10 minutes setting up the material. A lot of times she cancels class. Haven't gotten a single grade for this class yet, not even a test score. She NEVER responds to emails. Doesn't care when people clearly don't understand a topic, just moves on. Reverse classroom. DO NOT TAKE.
THE BEST DARN TEACHER UMASS HAS EVER HAD!!!! SHE IS AWESOME AND HER CLASS IS FUN FUN FUN!!!!! TOTALLY GREAT CLASS AND A GPA BOOSTER!! KNOWS HER STUFF. SIMPLY THE BEST! BETTER THAN ALL THE REST! STUDY STUDY STUDY A'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She doesn't post grades online, and can be passive aggressive in my opinion. The class moves very fast and if you don't understand something she makes you feel dumb.
She never uploaded a single grade so I had absolutely no idea what my grade was gonna be so when I got it it was a surprise which is absolute garbage
you dont do anything in this class. she comes SO late all the time, gets off topic, and doesn't teach anything. There is a textbook, but i used it ONCE and there is an online version. There is a sign in sheet for attendance but i doubt she even looks at it. I never did a single homework assignment and i still managed an A-
Probably the worst teacher I ever had throughout my entirety as a student at UMB I had to take the class again because my credits didnt transfer from my other school therefore I had to take this class ,and inevitably failed because of her fast paced sloppy teaching. Just dont do its not worth it.
This course has potential, but the instructor is it's downfall. She never grades anything so you have no idea what you're making in the class until the grading period ends. Her teaching is fast paced and confusing, and she constantly switches what material we would learn on a given day. She also didn't post a syllabus.
Please listen to the bad reviews cause they're not lying. Not only is she disorganized and slightly passive-aggressive, she has answered half of my emails and only has two grades for me. Keep in mind that it's finals season and I don't have any clue on what my actual grade should be. She makes this course harder than it should be.
This teacher is the worst I've ever had. She moved at a too fast pace, was incredibly disorganized- she had tech problems every class and took 5-10 minutes setting up every class-, was really passive-aggressive when students asked questions, and had a really confusing teaching style. She hasn't graded anything. Literally anything, and it's finals.
She is literally the worst teacher. She NEVER updates your grades I mean NEVER even if you constantly ask her she will make excuses. I have gone through the whole semester without knowing my grade so I dont know if I passed or failed. I dont know how shes still employed at UMB. Shes nice, yes but lacks everything else. Very frustrating class
She literally is the most disorganized professor Ive ever had. Every class there was an issue with her computer and only gave a grade after pass/fail a week before finals. Otherwise Id be biting my nails until final grades were put in. She means well but just needs to be more prepared and or get a new computer if that even was the problem.
I have no idea if I passed or failed this class because this prof never grades anything. You submit tons of homework and maybe you did it right, maybe you did it wrong, but you will never know because you get no grade back. Same thing with tests. No grades posted. Not a good class. Did I pass? Did I fail? No idea.
Class seemed a bit disorganized, but I'd like to think that was just because she was getting used to teaching online. Other than that, she was a bit rough with students who answered questions incorrectly and did not update grades... ever. She was constantly saying people could see her after class but would give up on helping people *in* class soooo
Professor Fuguet is an excellent professor. She really knows a lot of math and is always willing to help you. Very kind and patient, if you let her know you are struggling, she for sure will support you the most she can, the only low thing about her is that she takes too long on post the grades and gives a LOT of homework.
The strangest class I ever took at UMB. Would start as late as 20 minutes after class was scheduled, and never gave back a single grade that I knew of before the end of finals. She wanted us to teach ourselves the materials, & use class to work through examples. That class model did NOT work. She would sometimes get frustrated and ignore questions.
Worst professor I've EVER had, the most unorganized class I have ever taken, I didn't know if I was failing or had an A, everything was dated for the previous year, and every assignment was a surprise. Do not take this class
her style of teaching is VERY disorganized. she has not graded a single thing so I'm not sure if im passing or failing. i have to teach myself everything just cuz of the quizzes which is unnecessarily time-consuming. like what's the point of her classes. fr don't take her classes, she's nice but it's just a big mess you do not want to deal with.
one of the most difficult math classes I have taken. Too fast and really hard to understand. She does not grade anything; she tells you that she will get grades in but never follows through. I have no idea how Im doing in the class, and everything is so much harder because she expects us to teach ourselves everything. I wish I dropped out sooner.
do not take this class. I seriously regret not dropping it. I have no idea how I'm doing because the professor doesn't grade anything. I'm not sure if the work I'm doing is correct or not since she won't give any sort of feedback. it's a huge risk to take this class so do whatever it takes to avoid this professor.
Shes nice. Not that good of a teacher. She doesnt grade anything on time and is super disorganized on blackboard. Learning excel has been incredibly difficult with her. Im taking pass/fail and think Im gonna fail.
I empathize with Professor Fuguet, I know zoom teaching is challenging. However, I would not recommend anyone take her class. She has only graded a handful of homeworks we've done out of the tons we've been doing since January. Has not graded midterm 1 or 2, and the final exam is next week. I have no idea if I'm passing. Can be rude to students.
I have never met a professor that takes the whole semester to grade assignments. I suggest not taking the course with because she is not organized enough to grade in a good manner. Her classes were mostly her talking and exams were not well thought out, you had to search up certain information to be able to continue with the exam. Overall the worst
Do not take this class. She doesnt grade anything the entire semester, has been rude and condescending to students, class is fast paced and confusing, the tests often have mistakes in the questions and the 3 tests are a cumulative 75% of your grade... I have no idea if I passed or failed this class and Ive already taken my final.
do not ever take her. its a week after final grades were due and we still have nothing. she did not grade anything the entire semester, especially the 3 exams which in total were worth 75% of your grade. she was rude to many students. email her and you would not receive any response. awful. i honestly think i failed, cuz i have no idea how i did.
DONT TAKE A CLASS BY HER! You will be miserable even on the first day of school. I am literally writing this during class because I am so fed up with this. I learn more by reviewing with my classmates. She also has a weird attitude towards specific students. So much hw but never grades it in a timely matter. The hw is always irrelevant.
Listen to the other reviews. If you're going to sign up for QR, do it with another professor. She makes class unbearable with all of the homework and speaks to the class in a kindergarten tone. If you ask the wrong question she'll catch an attitude. Doesn't grade anything either.
I HIGHLY recommend to new college students that when you are picking your classes, go to this site before you pick your professor. I wish I saw this before I picked her class. It was just awful as everyone else here is saying. I honestly wish she stopped teaching because she seriously sucks at it. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
Constant condescending tone as if students are middle schoolers, grades absoutely nothing, and never responds to email. I could not tell you my grade at any point of the semester even a few days before finals. Even if you speak to her in person, she will find a way to put the blame on you and have an attitude about it. Learned more from classmates.
This professor is REALLY awful. In class, you can't even talk and you need to ask her for permission to go to the bathroom. While working in classwork, she does not explain or help with the work, but everything has to be silent as the smallest sound will freak her out. She is also very unengaged and isn't interested in truly teaching.
We are over halfway through the semester and nothing has been graded, none of the homework or the mid term exam. She gave us a practice exam before the mid term but never went over or gave us the correct answers. Spends class time writing out homework assignments instead of teaching. Pick a different professor.
This professor is horrible, no one's work has been graded. You can ask the whole class. She never had graded once besides the attendance! Compared to another professor, she gives way too much workload, expect you to understand everything. Who knows if she grades the homework for accuracy or for completion. Watch out. Trust the reviews.
Do not take this class !!!!!!!!!! She is a slow grader. She is inconsistent with her students. Whenever I ask her about grading the assignments, she brushes me off. If other professors are teaching this course, please select them. This professor is not worth it. The university needs to do a better job evaluating its staff. It is unacceptable.
Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. She is a caring professor who makes sure you understand the material and offers extra help sessions for those who need it.
she was fine to me in class but she literally did not grade a single thing until we were out of the class? our grades were a total mystery to us (and to her! i guess!) all the way up until they got added into our TRANSCRIPT and by then it's too late to do anything to actually change it? i really wish i'd read this site earlier
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! This professor does not grade anything until the last day, you will not know what grade you have in this class. She posts things late and will not accommodate you in any way. She is very dismissive and does not answer her emails or texts. She is disrespectful towards her students and will yell at you in front of the class.
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!! If you ask a question prepare for her to respond passive aggressively and still not even answer it. By the time I took my final exam she hadn't even graded my second exam or anything after the first month of the semester. Often very unclear directions and I can confidently say it was my most dreaded class.
Super sweet and caring but she does give a lot of work. Lectures are a little confusing but she is always open to chat after class. Okay at responding to emails sometimes. She had a textbook, wasn't mandatory to buy or read which was really helpful but it was recommended. She was a super sweet lady but her teaching skills were a little difficult.
You may think you signed up for a math 114QR class, but be prepared to write and read. Heavy emphasis on completing math work on Google Docs and Microsoft Word. She will also not return your grade in a timely manner so it's best that you remind her in class. A lot of work. Otherwise a sweet and caring person.
take this class with literally any other professor!
She is disorganized and she is late. The teacher cancels classes all the time and never returns graded homework. It is a horrible class. Stay away from this teacher!!!
Literally the worst professor I've ever had. Instructions are unclear and she's very passive aggressive. I don't even know how I'm doing in the class, hoping I didn't fail since I understood none of her teaching. Final exam is in 5 days and she still has not reviewed any material or informed us what chapters to study.
I wish I had gotten any other professor for this class. She talks to students so passive aggressively its honestly disgusting to watch. She teaches next to nothing and most of class is spent with the students sitting in pure confusion. Sometimes I believe she means well and other times I think she just likes to embarrass her students.
Horrible professor. Has too many outside/life problems to maintain being a good instructor. Assignments are 100% online. Requires you to purchase a very specific copy of a $100+ textbook. Asks questions to students in class, it is almost always completely silent. Extremely passive aggressive person, DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. PROFESSOR'S. CLASS.
Extremely condescending. Explains math problems audibly, very rarely writes things out for you to understand. I genuinely felt like she did not want her students to pass her course.
Horrible, DONT TAKE! It's amazing she has not been fired, she is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She won't answer your questions, all directions are unclear, nothing is graded, and she's straight up rude and disrespectful. The only reason I did well in this class was because I was already taught this math, half my class had to drop it.
she is super passive aggressive when you fail to do homework or don't understand the subject, doesn't thoroughly explain what she's doing. As a person with ADHD, she fails to help out people or understand we have other priorities. Don't take this class I regret taking this class with her just do a pass fail if you really need this class.
Professor Fuguet can be hit-or-miss. Lectures are unstructured, but she's willing to help during office hours. The workload is heavy, but using resources like unstuck ai and the (optional) textbook can make this class manageable.
I tried to give her a chance and tried to participate, but eventually, this class got confusing, and she was not much help. I told her I didn't understand something and she just said "ya" and did not help me understand. She can be very rude to students she chased a few out that left early throughout the semester. Avoid if you can
Class at times had myself and classmates lost to what was being taught.Late grading assignments.Would not know grades until the last day of the year for the final exam and group project.Helpful outside of class but forget about sending an email to her on grades as there will not be any repose.Better to find a tutor or different professor.
always late to class, and super passive aggressive.
This professor does not demonstrate how to do problems or equations. You almost have to figure it out yourself. Often late or absent, she skips over the instruction part of teaching and piles on the work. She does not grade work, but still requires it. We still don't have our midterm ( which was 2 days long) back yet. Classes end 1 week.
She will gaslight you when it comes to asking for help as well as surprise assignments. Slow grader, slow class, no absences allowed. She shows up to class late, and keeps you late.
Wanted to write something honest about Monique b/c a lot of her ratings are like, "she's such a terrible person and teacher," but the word count here is short. Overall, older lady that cares about what she teaches, her teaching style isn't the best for me and several other people. Wouldn't take her class again, I probably got a D. Did it pass/fail.
Read the syllabus, participate in class, she is a sweet professor. Talks the entire time and can move quickly from one topic to another. But she will help you catch up if you are a bit slow in math like myself haha. Print out 4-5 practice exams and take them before the final. It will help your mental muscle memory tremendously.
Monique Fuguet is a passive aggressive J E R K. Take this class with anyone else and if you can't, pray. Yes, I got a good grade but it was solely because of the TA and teaching myself. She shows up 30 mins late to a 50 min class without telling anyone? Very unprofessional and passive aggressive. Truly surprised she's not fired. Goodness.
Boomer lady. Monique comes off as a teacher in middle school. She can be condescending and rude but it's just her quirkiness. Just do all the work on canvas, do well on the group project and study a little for exams. She's teaching the universal math req for UMB and teaches like 5 sections of the same course. It's no easy job. Someone has to do it.
If you're looking for encouragement, look elsewhere. She spent the first 15 minutes on the FDOC telling us to drop a gen-ed "common sense math" class. The fact that multiple students were retaking says all you need to know about her teaching skills (or total lack thereof).
I can't believe I paid to take this course. If I had to do it again I would probably drop out. She isn't very clear on what you need to do just assumes you check her canvas every day cause she doesn't post things that pop up in the assignments category. It's only been two weeks so far and I feel like everything we did was't useful and just nonsense
do NOT take this class with her if you don't have to. She's always late. I'm a student who's always loved math, but she definitely ruined that for me.The TA taught the class more than she did. Do not pay to take this class when you're basically just teaching yourself. On top of that she's extremely rude and does not care about your success at all
