Online: stiff at the start as she asked questions that literally nobody answered. <3 the TA Dvanhi who was amazing and I hope is a prof one day. Grateful for the time Monique spent with me out of class to improve my work. I am proud of what i did for the class and it is thanks to her inspiring me, giving xtra readings, talking through my ideas. <3

I did not know how this year would go online and did not want to take this course anyway. I was surprised at how pertinent the readings were to the present moment, how many tools she and the TA gave us. She gave options to attend or not, and discussion spaces to create community with classmates. Really energizing. I hope to have her again.

Although the readings for this course are very dense and heavy (as expected from an upper year course), Professor Tschofen is very engaging in lecture and tries to get her students as engaged as possible. She regularly checks in with her students and is flexible with extra credit assignments, as well as being clear about what she expects.

Tschofen is a bit of a mess. Her lectures are a disaster; just show up for the first five minutes for attendance and you can leave. You have to watch and read everything on the syllabus because there's weekly responses, and the films are straight up awful. The essay isn't that bad, but her instructions are all over the place.

This semester was all about the visual culture of the pandemic, which was a little overwhelming at times as we are still enduring the hardships such. Attendance participation, but the lectures are extremely lengthy with group work sometimes. All assignments except the final were marked hard - I got an A+ on that. She is always available to talk!

I love Tschofen's classes and have taken 3. I took this class last year, and am writing now because I am applying to grad schools and found myself using her assignments as a writing sample. She has helped me as a researcher and writer, and supported me as a person through a challenging time. If you show up, she shows up.

Dr. Tschofen is a very caring professor who like to engage with her students and ensure their success. Though her lectures can sometimes be a little messy and all over the place. Weekly discussions is required in her class. Overall, she knows her stuff but the only concern is that she can be a bit unorganized.

Dr. Tschofen is one of the kindest professors who value mental health greatly, however, they are one of the most unorganized professors I've ever had. She changed the syllabus about three times over a month into the course and her layout of grading and weekly assignments were very hard to follow. DO NOT TAKE IT AS AN ELECTIVE.

I've had Prof. Tschofen for three different classes now and while she's very caring, she's also *very* disorganized. Also, her assignments are some of the longest and most bizarre things I've ever had to complete (and she isn't an easy marker either). I wouldn't recommend taking her classes unless you're willing to work your butt off lol.

Other students are calling her disorganized, but they can't have actually been in class. I think she was highly responsive. She did check ins with students every single week, and when there were concerns, she brought them to the whole class to let us vote on course changes, which invariably meant less reading and extended assignment deadlines.

Adore Dr. Tschofen! I am in sciences and don't find English easy. She showed the possibilities in literature for thinking about my own family background and society. The D2L shell is heavily disorganized in terms of finding certain things, most times there would be dead links and you'd have to go searching through lecture slides to find them. If you want more time be prepared to sign some document for one day only. Also be prepared to listen to tangents that will most times leave you disinterested.

Brilliant class I did not think I would love. I became a better scholar, researcher, writer, and student of literature because she slowly and practically unpacked what all this means.
