Great teacher! Quizzes are all online and can be done all at once, as long as you get them in before each deadline. Lots of opportunity for extra credit. Grades easy on essays and presentations. Very nice person.

She was very oppinionated, was very clear and had a very interesting class.

Monnet is the best teacher ever. If you like to laugh take her! By the end of the class, you will be friends with everyone in the class. You can get extra credit everytime you give a speech!

She is a good teacher I just dont understand why she gives so much homework when it is a speech class. This class had more homework and homework that took longer to do than my Calculus class. Also I felt like I just learn how to organize a speech I didn't learn how to become a better speaker at all.

Monnet is very sweet and very approachable. While laughter yoga and "rollercoaster" techniques may seem silly at first, you begin to realize that Monnet is not just offering a speech course, she is offering a speech experience. I didn't realize all the online homework required but she is fair, helpful and available.

Monnet is really nice for the most part and makes the class really fun. She will forget EVERYTHING you send her via email and then get mad at you for not having it...just never send her an email of any assignment, even though she says its acceptable

She is a nice woman but treats the class like they are 5 years old. But its probably the easiest class ive ever taken at the JC. If you want an easy A then this is the class for you.

Monnet helped me in more ways than I could ever list here. As a Transgender I've often been the subject of discrimination and though I couldn't bring myself to speak to the class about my experiences I wish I had. Her classroom is a literal sanctuary and I met the nicest people while there, and not just met but got to know them. She knows her stuff

She also does laughing yoga and she is one of the very best teachers I ever had at the JC. I took speech 1A and she told us not to buy the books because she already had Pdf version on canvas. She is very caring and a very open person.

Monnet is one of the only professors I've had who supports students. The textbook is opensource, the quizzes are open book and online, you get an extra 10% for speaking on the first day. In my class almost everyone got an A. It might be uncomfortable at first, but if you put yourself out there, Monnet will reward you in kind.

If public speaking makes you super nervous, then Monnet is the teacher for you. She's sweet, approachable, and does an amazing job of ensuring the class atmosphere is light and friendly. She gives a link to the pdf for the textbook she uses online, and ten or more easy quizzes based on the textbook, overall a lovely experience.

Took her Summer Comm1 class. If you hate public speaking but need the credits, take this class it may change your mind. She makes it very easy with not many difficult assignments.

She let us do all the quizzes and homework assignments before the semester even began which was super helpful. I didn't have to worry about homework or quizzes the entire semester which allowed me to focus on the speeches. She gives great feedback. SHOW UP Prepared you'll do great.

Not really sure why people say she gives a lot of work or is mean or judgmental... the class is extremely straightforward, no way to not get an A if you literally just do the work... like 2 hours a week at most. Shes a bit weird, but totally nice and caring.

Professor Zubieta was super funny and nice. She made the Zoom class fun and interactive. Yeah, she can be kinda strict, but nothing too bad. Her public speaking class helped me grow as a public speaker. You could tell she genuinely cares about her students. Probably one of my favorite classes I have taken.

She's a really caring and passionate professor. Gives tips that are applicable in real life. She is sooooo accommodating. She is truly a gem. I would love to take her again. I did not experience a single thing the negative reviewers talked about. She has taught us so much about communications and about the real world. I would give her 6 stars.

Be prepared for lots of homework, quizzes, and speeches. This class is sort of overwhelming, especially if you're taking other classes. I took 3 other classes this year and this class had the most work. Plus the mandatory zoom meetings.

Monnet is a great teacher and really cares about your success, not just as a student getting a good grade for GE requirements, but as a speaker developing skills for the real world. Developing persuasive skills has real life benefit. Her textbook is completely free and its an easy read and extremely helpful. Her quizzes come from the text.

Professor Zubieta was the best teacher I have ever had! Her class was very organized and easy to follow and keep up with. All the assignments were fairly straightforward and easy. She had lots of big extra credit opportunities and she was always willing to meet with you and provide any help you needed! I would definitely take her class again!!!

I truly do not understand the low ratings. I have never been great at public speaking but she made everything so easy to understand. She also opened up all the assignments way in advanced so you can do them early and get extra credit. her class has been my favorite so far an I would recommend it to everyone.

Deserves 5/5! The best online experience and I will remember this as being one of my favorite classes. Content fulfilling and the environment she cultivates is outstanding, esp. for an online class. A perfect class to take during summer. I imagine her hybrid classes are equally as organized. Guidance and feedback received was very individualized.

This professor has the most organized Canvas page I have ever seen which made for a smooth online class. She honestly took the fear out of public speaking by breaking the ice hard and fast. We all got to know each other so quick because of her teaching style, so it definitely made it easier to speak in front of an audience. Overall great class.

I dreaded taking a public speaking course, but she made it relatively painless! Super supportive, friendly, and caring; Monnet was always available if you needed help or clarification and she gives great feedback. If you put the effort in, it is a very rewarding course.

Professor Zubieta is probably the best teacher I've had at SRJC. She is so easy to get a hold of. She lets students text her as needed and she replies quickly. She accepted my late work and gave me good feedback and helped me get better grades. Literally her class was so much fun. It was hard not to get a good grade in her class. Take her class.

Super easy class to understand. Some professors don't have clear grading criteria and Monnet did. You knew exactly what she expected and that made it easy to get a good grade. She def wants to see her students do well and she is super easy to get help from outside of class if you don't understand something.

This was the last week of class with Professor Zubieta. It was my favorite class I've ever taken. I learned a lot. She gives feedback that maybe isn't what you want to hear but it is for your benefit. She really helped guide me to being a better speaker and narrowing my subjects. She was accessible and helpful! Would take her again in a heart beat.

All the reading is online and easy to understand but there is a lot of reading. It's interesting and she makes it easy. Quizes are easy and have multiple attempts. Clear feedback. Good class!

Can't wait to take a class with her again! She made group projects, and it was interactive which is rare for an online class to feel so in person and unified. It was an easy class, but you had to do the work and learn. If you pay attention and do your best you'll get a good grade.

Monnet was a great teacher and gave out several extra credit opportunities. I really appreciate the feedback she gave me on my assignments cause it helped a lot with my speeches. The main part of this class is participation. As long as you show up and participate you'll do great in this class.

Professor Zubieta is amazing. I have a fear of public speaking and she helped with that. If you attend all Zoom meetings, keep up on homework, and prepare for speeches you will do great in her class.

Her class is relatively easy as long as you actually participate in live discussions. She could have a holier than thou attitude at times but provided a lot of extra credit and support in order to pass.

I truly enjoyed this class, I liked all my classmates and we worked very well together. Monnet is a very nice person BUT sometimes she could be passive rude, she may confront you in front of the class. Be prepared to do A LOT OF HOMEWORK, and several big team projects. She will randomly select you to talk to the class.
