Professor Chowdhury did an excellent job! He showed that he truly cared about students understanding the material, and his PowerPoints and practice questions were incredibly useful. He was very positive, thankful when you corrected him on a mistake, and ultimately was an amazing professor! The class was not too hard, and we didn't use a textbook!
Professor Chowdury was a pretty decent teacher. He offered lots of practice questions and explained concepts in-depth and was always willing to break things down until we all understood. The tests for this class were exactly like the homework, and as long as you did the practice exams you would do fine. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it helps.
Professor Chowdhury is a great teacher. As long as you go to class and pay attention, you will do well. Grades consist of bi-weekly quizzes, homework assignments, a midterm, and a final. His questions are not always clearly worded but he does provide plenty of practice questions before quizzes and tests. You can use your class notes on exams.
This class was very manageable overall. The tests were exactly like the homework and there are many practice tests and problems to help study. Chowdhury is a really nice guy and was very accommodating. It is not hard to do well in this class as long as you put some effort into studying.
He doesn't speak the best english which makes him hard to understand. Each class he just read his slides which he posted on line so you don't have to go to class--whether you go or not you will be teaching yourself. If you can, take STAT with someone else.
Practice problems for every test, which are very similar to the tests. So, if you know the practice problems, you should have no problems. There were 5 quizzes as well as a midterm and final, so a decent amount of tests, but all are open notes. The class is not very engaging, but easy to pick up on material on your own. Easy grader, nice guy.
I definitely learned R through the class. Dr. Chowdhury is such a sweet man, but the class meetings were pretty boring. I rarely attended class and got an A with little effort. He grades very fair - as long as your R-code gets the correct answer, you get full credit. I recommend the textbook, but it isn't mandatory.
He is a nice guy but it is hard to understand him properly. Lecturers are boring and he is not good at explain things. Class easy pretty easy though. If you do the practice test it is very easy to get a good grade.
Great teacher. Very nice man. If you know how to do the practice tests you will get a good grade.
As several people have said, he is a little difficult to understand, which is fine and it doesn't impact you too much. At the end of the semester I emailed him because my grade seemed to be miscalculated, and he said he was too busy with other classes and never cared enough to even look at it. Easy class but the professor doesn't care at all
I learned very little in this class. Made the final much, much harder than any of the assignments. Would not give a curve either. Not a good professor overall, and you cant understand him.
This man is adorable and so sweet. However, if you can take Catherine Case, DO IT. I used her online posted videos for most of this class because I didn't love Monsur Chowdurys way of teaching. He kinda just reads off the slides and plows through a lot a day, and I don't feel like I retain it. He is so sweet though! Tests are fine, not horrible
If you took AP stat in high school, it's an easy A! As long as you go over notes and do the optional practice work you will get an A+. He also makes the content easy to understand
I stopped going to class mid semester because I never could pay attention to his lectures and I still ended with an easy A. If you took AP stats in high school, this class is extremely easy and you can teach yourself from his lecture slides.
As far as BUSN3000 goes, who you take it with does not matter much, but Chowdry is a fine choice. You're given access to class materials and slides from every BUSN professor on ELC regardless of whose section you're in, and you can literally teach yourself the material from these resources. Grade is HW, 3 quizzes, & 3 tests. Easy A if you study.
Chowdhury teaches the class well and provides plenty of practice. If you do the Webassign practice tests/quizzes, you will do well on the tests/quizzes. It isn't that hard to understand him. The class is a little dry but he is a good teacher.
I would not recommend taking him. He was pretty difficult to understand and the lectures were just straight off PowerPoints. Overall, you teach yourself the material and I would def go with another professor before him
Chowdhury is a sweet and caring professor. The only problem I had was the way he worded his questions on homework and quizzes, but he took care of this issue after the class addressed it to him. Otherwise, a very lenient grader, super easy class since everything is open note. Highly recommend.
Not very flexible on his grading. He knows what he's talking about but just reads off the slides so you basically have to teach yourself. Not very accommodating to any circumstances outside his class.
He posts all his notes/code on ELC, and all the quizzes/tests are open note. He was very easy to get a hold of outside of class and very willing to answer questions/help out. The lectures were a bit boring, but they're not really necessary since he posts his notes.
Overall, it was a hard class to go to because he read straight from the powerpoint and you basically had to teach everything to yourself.
Monsur was so boring to listen to that I stopped going to class after the first test and aced all three tests. The practice tests are the exact same as the test, but that doesn't make his class any more enjoyable. Hard to understand him and refuses to continue in class if nobody answers his questions. Overall, he is a terrible professor.
He is a sweet guy and posts all of his notes and material online. Puts the ball in your court to do well and gives so many resources- students just have to put in the work. He's accessible outside of class and wants students to succeed too. I found the course difficult because it's more programming than statistics, but some others found it easy.
Loved this class. All the professors give the same quizzes and tests, so it doesn't really matter who you take. This class is super easy (same material) if you took AP Stat in high school. If you didn't, it's still pretty easy. Attendance isn't mandatory and it is pretty easy to teach yourself the material from the slides a few days before tests.
eh he's not the best but tbh the material is pretty teachable. he just reads off the powerpoints which he also posts on eLC so i didn't really feel the need to come to every class. the HW and practice exams are great study tools since the quiz/test questions are pretty similar. i got an 89 in the class but only bc i kept forgetting to do the HW lol
Professor Chowdhury's outline of the class is very straightforward and all of his lectures are extremely helpful. There is a good amount of homework, in my opinion, so don't fall behind on it. With that being said, the homework is designed almost exactly the same as quizzes and tests so it's great for preparation. Attendance was optional, too.
Super sweet and caring guy. Lectures can be a little boring as the class deals with R programming and isn't super engaging. He does near-daily in-class activities so make sure to attend class to avoid missing points. Grading is super lenient and takes off little points. Overall, he does a great job and addresses student concerns.
The workload was a lot, as we always had homework or a quiz every other week. He reads right off of notes during class, so going to class was pointless, but attendance was mandatory. His assignments always had typos. Most assignments are graded by your TA, so your grade depends on how lenient they are. Offers some extra credit.
Dude's a nice guy, and his eLC is set up so well! That being said, he is super unclear when asking questions and gives way too many assignments. It feels a little overwhelming, but the actual content isn't too bad. I just think there are better teachers out there, and he tries to listen to student concerns but no dice in terms of change.
Just don't take his classes. That's all. The course is easy but he is not able to teach clearly and makes it even harder. His explanations are vague and at some point incorrect. It was the worst STAT class ever I have taken. If you care about learning do not take this course. If you're looking for grade, then you might make something out of it.
He uploads all the notes which are well-written. His accent is difficult to understand, and I struggled to stay awake during the class. However, the homework was very fun to do, and I overall felt like I learned a lot from the notes. You are allowed cheat sheets on the exams.
Dr. Chowdhury is very kind professor, but the lectures are extremely hard to sit through. All notes are accessible outside of class, so class attendance is not necessary. However, many quizzes include questions you may not be prepared for because the notes he covers do not prepare you for them. Other than inconsistency, the class is actually easy.
Dr. Chowdhury is a great person, he cares deeply about the students and is always avaliable. His lectures can be very boring at times and I felt as though the lab aspect of it was pretty pointless. However, all the quizes were open note including the final. It was a great introduction to R and I never felt lost with the ammount of examples he gave.
Dr.Chowdhury is a fine teacher nothing more nothing less. His lectures are painful to sit through and he noticed alot of people were not attending so he switched to a sign in sheet. TBH would not take again. His lectures do not accurately prepare you for the quiz.
Lectures are pretty dry, but he covers everything you need to know in them. Copy down all his code and you'll be able to use it for the open note quizzes and exams. Plus pretty friendly and helpful if you need anything
He has a very thick accent which makes it hard to understand him. He wrote his own textbook and just went over it during class which about put me to sleep everyday. The only tests are the midterm and final but they weren't super difficult and there were other filler assignments. The lab was pointless but easy. Overall an okay class.
This professor can barely speak english and has an incomprehensible Indian accent. This professor reads everything from the ppt and lectures are impossible to make sense of because whatever bits you do get to hear, they are comprised of broken english that you then have to decipher what he means.
Barely speaks English. Good luck if you are forced to enroll in his class. No way a sane person would willingly pick him.
Inaccessible outside of class, hard to communicate w/ in person and on email. Refuses to round grades
All of the work is pretty easy and the deadlines are all set in the syllabus. The class is not that hard as long as you just go to the lectures and listen, and all quizzes and test are open note so just going to class and do the hws and if you miss a class everything is posted online. Overall good teacher and not hard course.
Boring lecturer, but not terrible. BUSN 3000 is standardized between professors so it doesn't matter too much who you take it with. Weekly homework unless there's a quiz or test. Tests are pretty easy, the practice tests are a good representation of what you'll be tested on.
Chowdhury is very nice and pretty fun as a lecturer. Id recommend finding a friend to help eachother through the course as content can be easily glossed over at times. The class is pretty straightforward with daily participation-based worksheets and graded hw every few weeks. He's not incredible but not bad by any means. Coursework also isnt hard
Dr. Chowdhury not a very good professor. The course was very lecture heavy and he has a very strict accent to the point where it is almost impossible to understand him. He glosses over many aspects of the course without giving proper explanation for how it works or why. His labs were always a waste of time, only watched TAs code.
you will have to teach yourself, most likely. I found it very hard to understand him since he has a pretty heavy accent. if you do the homework and go thorugh the slides you should be okay. just make sure you know how to use jmp
You cannot understand what he says unless you give 100% attention all of the time, which for freshman/sophomore year is just not reasonable. His slides online are very clear but when he fills in the notes it takes me almost five minutes just to guess at what it says. However, he is super smart and understands the course material very well.
The class itself is not hard, but I would not have understood the material if I did not go to class. If you have taken a stat class before, you will be fine. Just be prepared for the tests that are only seven questions... But really I would recommend Chowdhury he is not bad at all; he is the same as everyone else.
Great professor, just a monotonous lecturer. If you've taken AP Stats before, this is a very easy class. I skipped nearly all classes and solely used the filled in notes he posted to do the hw and quizzes. The only difference from AP are the last 2 units, but they're simple to learn from the slides he posts on eLC.
Nothing he says ever makes any sort of sense. The slides and textbook do help in understanding the material. Be ready to teach yourself absolutely everything in the class. I would recommend taking anyone else. He uses really confusing language and talks in circles even if you are paying 100% attention to his lectures.
Incredible. Absolute Masterclass. Goat. Beautiful. Legend. Delectable Gentleman. Do the practice tests 10 times and you'll get an A. Final is hard but optional.
All of the busn tests are the same for all professors. Attendance is not mandatory due to all of the information being on eLC and webassign. However, if you do prefer to go to class, Dr. Chowdhurry may be hard to understand for some.
Like others have said, this course is almost identical to AP Stat, so if you are familiar with that content, you should be in a good place. While he can be somewhat difficult to understand, most choose not to go to class anyways. He also has neat handwriting, which helps with understanding. Overall a nice guy, and definitely not the worst option.
Professor Chowdhurry is truly a nice guy at heart, but good lord his lectures might be the most boring thing known to man. His class is extremely doable as all quizzes and exams are open note, and the homeworks were fairly simple. Just be prepared to sit through the most boring lectures of your life with this man.
I could not understand him at all. The class itself was pretty easy, so it made it tolerable, but if you wanna be able to understand, just take a different prof.
Lectures are kinda boring but since I came in with no knowledge of R I thought they weren't the worst. There is a bit of an accent but if you just follow along with the code you should be fine. Biggest gripe was with grading and getting points taken off for "Not being optimal enough". Overall an easy A, but still a bit of work.
Not a good teacher at all. UGA, who hired him and why? Im sure he's an okay person, but he should find a new line of work definitely. Go to other professors lectures and read other teacher's content/powerpoint in order to succeed.
He posts all his notes online which was really nice. You are graded on your quizzes, hmw, 1 midterm, lab grades, class participation, and the final. The quizzes and the midterm were not too bad. There is a MCQ portion that is on lockdown browser and then the coding portion which is open note.
He was fine. Class is an easy A no matter who you take, and attendance wasn't mandatory
His lectures are impossible to pay attention to. The test and HW are hard to understand due to wording of questions. HW and tests often included questions not covered in class. This class isn't the worst and is totally doable just super boring and he is terrible.
Dr. Chowdhury's class had a very well set out and explained format, with 5 homeworks, 3 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final, graded in class work, and 4 lab activities, all with clear set dates and instructions. That being said, much of the grading for assignments is done by the TA, so you are subject to their grading standards and timelines.
Good professor overall. Just try your best to pay attention in class, stay on top of homework and class activities. Sometimes he gives quizzes at the end of the class but they are 5 easy questions. Midterm and final are worth a lot of your final grade so make sure to study!
Easy class, but not an easy professor. He could do better in his teaching style. If I knew it and had seen the reviews beforehand, I wouldn't take it at all. Unfortunately, this was mandatory in my program, but I recommend students take other courses instead of this one.
nice guy, you wont be able to understand him, class might have the least effort to engage students. I understand you cant fire someone off accent but seems unfair when no one can understand. let alone his handwriting is bad as a add on very hard to intake info.
Hard to understand in class and teaching style is not helpful at all. He requires attendance on top hat and if the answer is incorrect or there is a technical issue (since he only allows 15 secs per question) you will not receive credit even if you are in class during the ICA's. He also is not understanding with technical errors or missed questions
Disorganized and not understanding of technical issues. If there is a problem with top hat for attendance reasons he brushes it off. Very unhelpful teaching methods and keeps changing the Tophat course number. The class is fairly easy as most students have already taken a statistics course. Try to choose a different professor if possible
I don't understand all the hate this guy gets. he's got a really thick accent but it's still easy to comprehend what he's saying. he's also super understanding and wants the class to succeed. the course itself is also easy but I will admit it's easy to zone out in his lectures which can get you behind very quickly
Very very very very very very very boring class, good thing its easy. He did curve our tests once but that was because the average was a low C. If you took AP Stats in high school you'll be fine, just be sure to take it with your friends.
If you took AP Statistics in high school then you should be fine in this class, but I recommend taking a different professor. Chowdhury has a heavy accent and bad handwriting that make it extremely difficult to follow along in lectures. The language barrier also made it difficult when asking questions about homework or exams. Take ANYONE else.
Nice guy, but very difficult to understand.
He's a nice guy, but he doesn't like to re-explain things and he's so hard to understand. The language barrier is just really difficult. Take any other professor if you can. Top hat attendance every day at the end of class and in class activities.
Very hard to understand him, also has messy handwriting.
I got C's on multiple exams, yet I still found myself having to correct HIM during lectures (and I was right). He means well, but lectures are hard to understand, and not interesting. Get skoolers to do well in this class. Exams are the same for most professors as they are proctored and taken outside of class. Nice guy though.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD dont do this to yourself! Extremely thick accent making it very hard to understand his lectures, was recurently late to class, had to be corrected by students because constantly made mistakes trying to solve the problems he was supposed to explain, failed to teach what was on tests and is not available outside of class.
Dr. Chowdhury is a great professor. He is incredibly interactive in class, always encouraging participation and making the material engaging. I learned a great deal from his course, and his teaching style truly enhanced my understanding.

Dr. Chowdhury is very helpful and his lecture is very engaging
The class was very engaging. The daily in class activities helped me a lot to learn the R programming.
Amazing class and engaging lecture
Dr. Chowdhury is very helpful and the class is very engaging
His accent and handwriting wasn't THAT bad!! I studied using the notes we'd do in class and felt that the Webassign homeworks and practice tests were VERY similar to the actual test. Attendance is strict but he's not the worst and taught well- including spending a lot of time on R and concepts, making sure we were understanding it.
He makes sure we understand the materials. He is very nice guy
Very good professor
He is always available outside the class. He cares his students a lot
Professor chowdhury is very good. I learnt a lot from his course.
I really enjoyed the class. Dr Chowdhury is great professor
I learned so much that will be useful in future classes and my career and I am very glad to have taken it and Chowdhury did a great job explaining all the details and mechanics of R.
Very good course, from the very basis in R and pyhton to the most complex models of Machine learning.
Very nice professor and cares a lot about his students as for the material it is mainly in R and the way the course is set up is nice
Overall, I only had to study a day before tests, likely because I took AP Stats in high school. Lectures and handwriting can be a bit hard to follow, but the material isn't very difficult. He's very nice and genuinely cares about students learning.
Dr. Chowdhury is very nice and cares a lot about his students. I really enjoyed his class.
I learnt a lot from his class about R programming. I really enjoyed the class with lots of active learning.
