He's amazing Chem teacher! He inspires me because he encourages all of us that we are capable of the work & he truly believes in us! I had a bad experience with my chem teacher in high school. He really cares about his students & is willing to slow down & explain things, he never gets annoyed or acts like your question is dumb. Our class loves him!

Dr. Helm is great. I was very scared for Organic Chem but so far his teaching has been nothing but helpful. he answers questions thoroughly & tells us what to expect on the exams. I highly rec him for anyone who is going into Health Sciences & needs chemistry.

Dr. Helm is an outstanding professor. He is always quick to help if you don't understand something, and explains everything to the best of his ability. Great Professor and I HATE chem. Hate is a strong word and that is why I used it. Past mid term and I have a B. He is so helpful and so understanding. I love going to class with him Lab too. We always get out of lab early but i never feel like I've been cheated out of any information. Pick HIM if you love or hate chemistry you will learn so much!

I went into this class thinking I would be happy just to pass. I ended up with an A! it was probably due to the clarity of his lectures. he is so helpful. This is one of, if not the best, teacher that I've ever had. I had so much trouble with Chemistry in the past. I looked on this site before picking my teacher, and I am so glad that I did. Science is my least favorite subject, but I got an A in his class. If you show up and do the work there is no way you won't pass his class. He changed our final from an exam to a written paper based on what the class preferred. His only goal is to make sure everyone succeeds.

Going into this class I was so worried, Dr. Helm is an amazing teacher, and can explain things in different ways that makes sense to you. I got an A on every test and quiz. He also offers extra credit for every single chapter. Try not to miss class, but if you do, he has all his lectures recorded on BB. There is really no excuse not to get an A-B.

Dr Helm was a phenomenal chem112 teacher. His tests are hard but if you put in the work you can do very well. He is quick to email back, grade & is always available to meet/help if needed.

Dr. Helm is by far the best professor that MCC has. If you need CHEM105, it is worth the drive to Longview to take it with Dr. Helm. I actually ENJOYED learning about chemistry, and Dr. Helm truly cares about his students.

Ratio of students is unreal. No real one on one time. Half online. Had I known half online I wouldnt of wasted my time and money. No care when he sees you failing or struggling he doesnt try to help or acknowledge it. Six chapters to one exam. Extremely unrealistic Work Load. If you are no traditional student this class isnt going to work.

Dr Helm is just amaaaazzzing! I have never seen any professors caring about his students like he does, particularly when you ask for help. He will go beyond without hesitation because he really wants you to succeed. I wish he can teach me all the rest of the classes I have to take. He is that good. He even helps you during the tests!!! Honestly Dr Helm made me fall in love with Chemistry. He takes the time to talk with the class and ensure each student is understanding it. Before exams, he will have a day where you can come in and just study with him, attendance is optional for those days. He makes his lectures fun and gives a small break as they are 2 hr lectures.

He was such a great professor! He truly cares about his students and tries his best to help everyone understand. Gives extra credit. You have weekly quizzes, online homework that is due before every exam, and five-ish exams. This class is very hard, but if you study hard you will pass. It would be pretty hard to fail this class.

Let's be honest, Chemistry is not fun but Dr. Helm definitely did his best to get everyone interested. He's very fun and genuinely cares about his students. He will remember everyone's name and be there for anyone in need of help. The tests are hard and lecture long but he gives lots of opportunities to get your grade up even if you fail your tests

first of all, I dislike chemistry BUT Dr Helm made this class enjoyable. Labs are fun and as long as you try and ask for help, you'll get 100. He knew all 50 of his students' names by week 2 and he genuinely cares about everyone. He helped me succeed when I didn't think I would. Lectures aren't required so if you skip just try to watch the videos.

I have NEVER liked Chemistry and never been good at it but Dr. Helm made me fall in love with this subject. He is extremely responsive and really cares about his students success. His lectures are great (and not required but I wouldn't recommend skipping) and labs (are required) but are fairly simply and fun! 10/10 :)

I LOOOOOOOVVEEEE DR. HELM!! Hes the most realest down to earth helpful understanding teacher ever. He makes you want to come to class to hear his jokes. He ACTUALLY MAKES LEARNING ENJOYABLE. Im no spring chicken so even after being out of school for so long he still made it easy for me take advantage of the study groups they really help!!!!

Dr. Helm is great as a professor and really cares about you and helps you understand chemistry in a more fun way. The only downfall in his class is that he requires online homework that are always somewhat or not relevant to the topics he is teaching. I highly advise people to not procrastinate in this class and show up and definitely ask for help

You can honestly scalp tickets for Helm's Intro classes days before enrollment even starts. His lectures are comprehensive and he does well to explain complicated topics. He's very accommodating to students and is almost always cheerful. Lectures are optional (recorded on BB), labs are mandatory. Textbook is mostly supplemental. 11/10 best prof.

Best Professor ever! He really cared about your grade. He provided lots of extra credit and helped in any way he could to help us get the grade we needed. He provided lots of review. He was very personable. I took him two years ago and he still remembers my name. Definitely recommend him! If you don't need chemistry, take him for fun! He's great!

The materials of the class were difficult; however, Dr. Helm creates every possible opportunity for students to earn the grade they want! He put lots of effort in every lecture, making the class enjoyable and chill. I really admire and appreciate his love for Chemistry and the class in general.

I was very hesitant to take Chemistry in general. Science has never been my strong suit, but Dr. Helm changed my perspective! I took his Zoom class for Spring 2021. Attendance is not mandatory. He is lenient on due dates. ALL TESTS ARE TAKE HOME. Small 5-10 question quizzes after every lecture that are easy. Communicate with him!! HE IS THE BEST!

Due to Covid, my Chemistry class was through zoom so I was nervous. However, Professor Helm made the material easy to understand and was willing to answer in questions! School work wise, there was online homework, take-home tests of every chapter, and pre-recorded lectures that we had to watch before the zoom meeting. This class was amazing 10/10!!

Heck yes! This guy is amazing. Would take him again in a heart beat. He cares about all of his student, we had take home tests, extra credit, and all the labs were really fun! Just make sure you don't get behind with hw because it can be hard to catch back up.

The BEST chem professor I've had by far. Professor takes time to make sure each individual student is understanding concepts. All lectures are prerecorded and you complete them before class. In-class practice problems, online quizzes after each lecture, and online tests and homework. Definitely not easy material, but professor is super helpful

He has been my favorite teacher and that's cause I never liked chem. He is always willing to answer any questions. Even though the lectures are online they're still great. The are quite a few assignments done regularly but as long as you don't get behind they are not difficult to get done. He is also always willing to work though problems with you.

He was a generally awesome teacher. He enjoyed doing his job. He did his best to make every class enjoyable. He was also very relatable. He was extremely patient. If the class wouldn't stop talking for some reason he would get everyones attention in a very kind manner. He was also understanding on late work. He was very good at explaining things!

As long as you keep up with the online lectures due before every class, you'll do just fine. Homework/classwork is done during the given class time, so there's ample time to ask questions. Overall, a great professor! Try hard and he will make sure you're getting a good grade!

I would absolutely recommend him. The way he breaks every down for you to understand step by step, is the key to understanding chemistry. You won't be sorry for choosing him to be your professor.

We were so glad we had him as a professor. You have to watch the lecture and do an assignment before class and you have an assignment and less than 10 question quiz in class. At the end of the week u have a 20 question test due but you can use your notes. Theres no midterm and the final is taken at home open note. Also made labs fun and interesting
