He makes everything as easy to understand as possible.
Great teacher! Makes Calc. simple and easy to understand, answers every question
Doesn't care about students, good prof. but doesn't prepare you well for final
Has no patience with students and doesnt prepare you well for the final

Open Book Tests and Final..but still VERY HARD
At least I think thats the class, Quant. Methods. Really really good math prof.
He is a miserable man and it shows in his classes. I learned nothing and he made me even slower. Avoid him completely.
don't mess with moon kim!
uhhhh, any questions. the worst. i felt like ripping th few hairs he has left off of his head. :(
The worst teacher I ever had. Talks down to you if you ask a question and makes you feel inferior. Do not take him. The material is hard to understand to begin with and he can barely speak English. Its a wast of money to take him.
One of the best math teachers I ever had. His tests are tough, but he explains everything really well. Makes Calculus easier to understand.
All he does is write answers on the board, dosnt go over anything, teachers you 80 new materials the day before the final, never goes over maple, talks down to everyone because he thinks superior. You almost feel bad to ask questions.
So rude!! His grading is ridiculous. You can have a's and b's on all of you exams and still end up with a D. Whatever you do...DON'T TAKE HIM!!
Weird a$$ grading system, but he had a good class overall. I say he's worth taking
Even w/ open book tests the class was hard..
This must be the worst professor Ever here at Seton Hall. This goes to show you that SHU covers a lot of things up. So rude and belittling, needs to get a new job.
the worst teacher ever!!! It is a waste of money to take his class. He doesn't speak english so you don't understand a word he says and he his so mean and nasty you are afraid to ask a question. SATAN INCARNATE!
Soooo easy what the **** are u guys talking about??
"very simple". thats 1/3 of the words he says all class. gives the hard way of doing problems, isn't clear. however, he does give you all the problems on every test so they are pretty easy
He's not that bad because he gives you the problems before the test and changes the numbers, but be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the material.
He's not that bad
one of the worst teacher out there the only teacher that he better then are the other calc 3 teachers loves to give F's and D's be perpared to teach yourself everything dont even listen to him he'll just confuse u more
worst teacher I've ever had. Konwn to be the one that gives the most F's in his dept. Tells you that you'll get a good grade but final is much more involved from what he has taught. Run while you can!!
The worst teacher I've ever had at Seton Hall University. Should not even be teaching. He does not explain anything at all. He only confuses you. Do not take him.
Ok. I got an A in all 4 of my H.S. and 2 college math classes. Then I met Moon Kim. He is a horrific teacher. Im strugging to pass. Have no idea whats goin on 1/2 the time, and book is too hard to read. He knows alot, but doesnt explain it well. Doesnt go over HW either. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
We were let out an hour early each class which was nice. I took calc in high school and understood all of the material, then I listen to the way he explains stuff and it confuses me eventhough I already know what's going on. He's pretty easy if you get the stuff though.

VERY SIMPLE!, thats all the man says!! Definately the worst teacher ive ever had. When he gives homework he never goes over it, gives you a review that is extremely easy compared to his tough tests, and when you ask a him to do a certain problem he does something totally different. easy to laugh at!
Just copy everything he writes down on the bored into yours notes and study your ass off for tests. He loves the phrase "very simple." But sometimes it isnt cause he doesn't explain anything. A lot of the stuff that's on the final (dept final) he doenst teach.
Easy class (no homework) but horrible teacher...did not prepare us for the departmental final at all, test are hard and doesnt care how u do in class...easy class to skip just make someone sign the attendance sheet, oh and horrible chinese accent
I had this guy a few years ago before I transferred out of the university. Horrible teacher, made the class much more confusing than it had to be. He did, however, let us use our textbooks during the final exam. Just staple the old review sheets and answers into the text, and cheat, cheat, cheat.
"very simple" yet he makes it very hard. He has a horrible Chinese accent and explains everything his own way, straying away from the book. Does not prepare you for final and doesn't care if everyone fails his tests which "there are no reason you should not get perfect score on."
Will fail you at the drop of a hat. Totally oblivious to the fact that no one understands what he teaches. He's pretty much a last resort professor. Don't take him unless you like a good challenge, but i wouldn't take the chance. If you do happen to end up with Dr. Kim, make sure you go to tutoring every chance you get. It's a necessity.
If you want to fail take him. He does not care that no one understands, and he will not help you. If you ask him a question in class he will make fun of you and say "see it is easy".
NO help and will fail the whole class if he could
Easily the WORST professor I've ever..EVER.. had. Unclear, doesnt explain anything, doesnt want to help because its all "Very Simple". Only class I have ever failed. Would rather pierce my eye with a flaming needle than take his class again. Do not take this guy...and if you have him, drop immediately, he'll make your entire semester hell.
no english+ no help+ hard test= worst teacher ever
Kim is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He is probably good at math, but he is a totally incompetent professor... He is also impossible to understand and doesnt explain anything because its "very simple"... which in his incomprehensible accent sounds more like "vewee seempoh"
Can never explain things on the first try… Says that everything is "very easy," yet rarely gets the right answer on the first try! Extremely boring!!!!!!! If you want to learn NOTHING, you must take him!
hes okay, but kinda boring
If you've never taken calc before then you're screwed because he shows you what to do, but doesn't explain anything. I took calc in HS so the class was really easy for me. His tests are simple 10 question exams. He only teaches you what he wants to and not what you NEED to know. He lets you out 45 minutes early everytime. But don't take him..
if you NEVER taken calculus before don't take. HOWEVER, if you know what your doing ABSOLUTELY take it. 3 tests, SO easy that you probably have done them in 10th grade, very minimal calculus on them. however, departmental final, so definitely know calculus ahead of time before taking him. he lets you out early EVERY class. i LOVE MOOOOOOONN
Class is "very easy" if you already know calc. Tests are simple. The departmental final is hard, but he will tell you exactly what will be on it. I recommend taking him only if you have prior knowledge of calc.
This class is not that hard. If you all the hw, which is about 4 easy problems each week, you'll do fine!
Dr. Kim is really great if you have a basic knowledge of calculus. The homework is really easy and it prepares you well for his tests. Overall the class is really easy with a professor that knows a lot about the subject.
this guy is a jonesy, he doesnt explain anything, doesnt count the homework toward your grade, and isnt helpful if you have any problems
Horrible professor. He is biased against certain students and insults us to our faces. He should be fired. If you take him in any course, get a tutor. He never checks his e-mail and is rarely in his office. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!
Worst teacher at SHU. Doesn't speak clearly or help you understand anything. Is a hard grader with no partial credit. Very hard to get a good grade because he bases half the grade on the departmental final which makes no sense. Don't Take Him.
HE SUCKS! do not take him at any cost, he should seriously be fired. he says everything is simple and doesnt explain anything. he is an ass.
The easiest professor I ever took, every test and final is open book. Just go to class and write good notes
SERIOUSLY, THE WORST TEACHER EVER! he doesn't explain anything and he is just plain rude! avoid at all costs!
As other people have said, do NOT take this teacher unless you have knowledge of pre cal. If you absolutely know what you're doing and make no stupid mistakes (such as forgetting a negative sign) this will be easy as cake for you. He does not explain well and his way of solving things is a lot more complicated than what I have learned.
Okay, I had him for Quant, and he's not that bad. Yes, it is hard to understand him, but if you really focus it's not that bad. For the tests, he gives practice problems, just do them and you'll be fine. As for the final, he doesn't count the maple/excel! So, should you go out of your way to take him? No. But if you end up in his class don't worry.
HE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER! I HATE THIS MAN. HE IS HORRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE HIM..HE IS MEAN, HE NEVER ANSWERS EMAILS AND HE IS VERY RUDE!!1 DO NOT TAKE HIM!
just don't take him and you'll be happy
I had him for Calc II. He's horrible! He doesn't explain anything when you ask questions, only makes you feel dumb for asking. He gives two example problems and then lets you leave class. But the examples do NOT help at all when doing the homework. AVOIDDDD!!
He's an alright teacher. if you pay attention to his class you will pass with an A. It's hard due to his accent but it's not impossible. I would pick someone else if I had options.
Don't take him if you have the option, but if you're stuck with him don't sweat it too much. His accent is somewhat hard to understand, and the examples that his gives are sometimes wrong (for which he blames the book). Try not to get him.
Math comes easily to me and this class did not and it is not because I lack the basic skills required for it, it is because Prof Kim does not explain where or why you are using the equations he spits at you. He uses things interchangeably that are not interchangeable and he does not actually answer any questions he simply restates what he just said
impossible teacher. i'm usually good at math and i couldn't follow what he was talking about half the time. the only good thing is that he usually gives you a good amount of points to start off with on a test but the tests are still hard. avoid taking him!!
worst teacher ever. simple as that. his tests are complete nonsense and no one in class understands him or what he is talking about. do not take him under any circumstances. even if he is your last resort, DROP THE CLASS. believe me, you just need to stay away.
THIS IS THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD AND THE WORST EXAM GIVER EVER!! AVOID THE CLASS AT ALL COSTS! He is very nice.. but a horrible professor.
Terrible. If you are reading the comments and assuming that people are just being overly harsh, you are wrong. He is ABSOLUTELY as bad as they say. I took college precalc in high school and got an A and decided to take it again in college for a GPA boost. But I just ended up completely trashing my GPA because Moon Kim is just the worst professor.
he is rude, disrespectful, mean, and fails many people. he does not care about students AND HIS NOTES DONT HELP! i cheated for my grade.
He teaches right out of the textbook but students constantly have to correct him. He fails to explain things so its a necessity to read the textbook. Just dont take him if you can.
It's impossible to ask him questions because he doesn't know how to answer them. He'll just rephrase them. Not at all helpful, doesn't know the material well. He gets most of the problems WRONG on the board, and tries to find out what he did wrong, which eats up most of the class time. His tests are fair, but you need to teach yourself.
He is the worst professor in all of SHU and i regret taking him. He barely knows any of the stuff he teaches on the board and gets all the answers for his questions wrong. If u ask him a question, he hesitates and just says some random crap. But, theres no homework and all his tests are easy, but you basically have to teach yourself
Thank goodness for the extra credit. Im not that good in math so it really helped. He gives some out every now and then, you can even ask for it. And his reviews before the tests are really helpful. He isn't as clear as you'd want your teacher to be, but he is bearable.
Horrible teacher, never know what he is saying. He will yell you if you ask a question until you say you understand it. Highly recommend NOT taking him. Only grade is his tests, which are not difficulty if you know the work, but be ready to teach yourself. Is not willing to work with students, unprofessional, and overall the WORST professor I took.
I had Dr. Kim for Calc 1 Fall of Freshman year. He gave three, 10 question exams. Exam questions were random, and often covered questions significantly harder than in-class examples. Ask any questions in class and he will honestly just yell at you. Worst experience i have ever had. Nasty, inconsiderate, cold person. Do not take his class.
if you need a lot of help, he is not for you. You cant understand him, he gets problems wrong every class, his grading is impossible to understand. you could get by with only attending the review days before tests, but you can get someone to sign you in if you dont go. the review ?s are very similar to the tests, but he'll throw a random ? in there
Pretty much ruined my Freshman year. Moon Kim would spend an entire 50 minute class going over an extensive problem, then at the end stare at the board and announce to the class that he did the problem wrong and to forget what he just did. This happened on multiple occasions. Avoid at all costs.
This dude is the best. All you need is chegg answers and you will get an A on every single test. You won't learn anything but easy A.
A terrible professor to start my freshman year. It's very hard to understand what he's saying when he has his back towards the board and has the worst handwriting I've ever seen. He's also bad at answering questions and doesn't care about his students. I thought people overreacted when reading these reviews at first but he really is that bad.
Do not take this class with him. Literally digging your own grave you basically need to teach yourself because you could barely understand him. He could do an example problem but he would realize that HE got the question wrong himself. It is NOT worth the stress to take his class anyone else BUT him.
NO KIDDING. Do practice problems on textbook & study them ahead. Kim's first 3 exams were 10 questions each and then on final its 15 questions. Questions won't be that bad if you study them ahead. Actually do as much correct as you can. He does take off full 10 points if you did one part wrong. But of course try talk to him if you can.
I read the previous review of Moon Kim and thought, "These must be disgruntled students who didn't want to work for a grade." I should have listened. Everything you read about him is true. He answers students' questions with "It's logical," and a dumb laugh. He is constantly corrected by students. He is an awful lecturer. I could go on for days.
Professor Kim is the most terrible professor I ever had. He is very unapproachable when you ask him questions; he usually tells the student that he/she should have already known the answer to his/her own question in middle school. Most times after doing an intricate problem on the board, he does not ask if we have any questions and simply says that
the problem is trivial. When he does answer a question, he says an answer that is completely unrelated to the question. In addition, during most classes, he does not know how to solve some problems in the textbook. He would put an equation on the board, spend at most 10 minutes on a problem, and this is not an exaggeration, and then erases the
exams are an 80, 15, and a 75. He also does not give homework which could possibly boost people's grades in the class. I will never recommend Professor Kim to anyone and I will never take a class of his ever again.
DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVENT TAKEN CALCULUS BEFORE. HE GIVES NO HOMEWORK except for 10 review questions before an exam. If you take notes during class and do the 10 review questions this will be the easiest calc class ever.
Such an easy class very straight to the point and goes over problems multiple times when students were confused
