Hard to understand. Tests are extremely difficult and overall grades very low.
You learn a lot. The exams are hard, but he gives partial credit.4 prob 5 essay

He likes the subject, he is a nice guy, and I think even willing to help. But none of this makes him a good teacher, and reading that Breally book is pretty time consuming. Grades are low and no one gets any questions right
get the video in the reserve book room. And keep your mouth shut.
He may be a little tough to understand but he is a nice guy. The material is hard but the book is easy to read. His tests usually have 4 calculation probs and 4 discussion probs. Don't miss a class. Final is not cumulative.
Difficult course, but manageable. A bit hard to understand. No group projects, minimal homework.
Pure waste of time. He doesn't even seem to care. Assigned project has nothing to do with course material. Rarely responds to students' emails. Don't count on him to get a worthwhile eduation.
Painfully boring. Hard to pay attention and hard to undersdtand him. Not helpful at all if you ask him questions.

The worst part about this guy is he will not help you. He is a jerk. He could not explain why he marked some of my answers wrong. I went to the Dept. Head and he basically told me they couldn't afford a good teacher. Curves for easy C's
This is just a hard subject. He doesn't make it any easier. His final was just stupid hard. Make sure to know his "suggested problems" by heart and you will pass.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. He is very difficult to understand and will not help you. I asked him several times to explain and did not help. Get perfect score on the homework to help your grade if you have to take his class. Due the problems!
He is hard and not helpful at all! He seems to enjoy teaching but isn't a good teacher. The material is very hard and the tests are impossible, if you don't have to take him, DONT!
Hardest class I ever took in 5 yrs of college. Avoid this class if you can. I recommend Hunter for 325. His lectures dont seem to be what is on the test. He is funny but his stories are a waste of time and are not on the tests. Do homework as a group and get a smart person to give you theirs.
Hard class but not impossible. Teaching is dry but funny at times. Does not take roll, 5 small hw assignments that you can work with classmates, 2 midterms & 1 final, tests are impossible to solve, but curves, includes 4 calculation 3 short essay, definitely need to put in effort to pass the class,
Homework worth 10% and 3 tests each worth 30%. Tests consist of word calculation problems and discussion questions. Tests are difficult and he doesnt give out to many hints as to what is going to be on the test. He is hard to understand and the book is hard to understand. Do suggested problems
Class is pretty hard. The easiest way to do well is to do the suggested problems and listen carefully to what he says will/could be on the test. and pray for a good grade
Tough course nomatter who teaches it, but he has a huge language barrier to overcome in order to be more effective. Nice guy, but says come to me with questions and after any question at all, without fail, says "you give me headache, why you give me headache!"
Wow what can I say but "Does evera buddy a follo meah?" LOL Highest grade I got all sememster, best advice is to find out what is on the test b4 hand and figure the probs out, final was rough but hw grade really boosts your grade in the class...enough said
Hard class, but very interesting.
This is the worst class and the worst professor I ever had. He has such a bad accent you can't understand him, he yells at you like you're an idiot if you have questions and his tests are impossible, especially the final. Avoid him at all costsbecause you will bust your ass and barely pass.
Dr. Song is a very nice professor, who dishes out heat on the tests... I found him to be an entertaining lecturer, but he is a little bit defensive at some times. In regards to Test #2 and the Final, Dr. Song threw the nastiest curveball this side of Barry Zito. I recommend calling Korea's 411 to get the inside scoop.
This guy is horrible. If you ask a question he will either not answer it or act like you're stupid for asking. You can barely understand his broken english and the tests are so hard. Make study groups and cram for about 8 hours before each test and you can do okay. THANK GOD FOR THE CURVE!
I took Song back in Fall 2004 and he didnt seem as hard as what everyone made him out to be. Just be sure you know all the recommended problems well and it sure doesnt hurt to have a study group. BTW, the text book is HORRIBLE
Thick accent, will treat you like a retard if you ask him to repeat what he just said. Does not help during office hours. Do all the homework and find someone who had last years test. Avoid if possible. Take Hunter instead.
I got an "A" on every exam and every homework. If you hate this class, change majors. This is college, the professor should not have to hold your hand.
Seriously, instead of whining about Song, why don?t you open the book and read, this is college, and this is suppose to be your major.
Horrible professor. Tries to be helpful, but he has no clue what he is doing. Just do the practice problems and you'll be fine. Not too hard to pull off a good grade and if you can't at least pass...seriously, you're probably retarded.

I wish I studied harder for the first two tests. If I had studied the homework questions and lecture questions more I'd have gotten A's on those. He threw us an insane final though. I studied my butt off for that and most of the questions were NOT in the lecture or homework. He has a intermediate command of the English language so...
Teacher barely speaks english. worst teacher at state. If you go to his office hours he will just confuse you more. you will be best off to just teach yourself. Biggest waste of time and money.

I don't really think its Song, this class just takes more effort than most. You have to keep up with the suggested problems because if you try to cram and understand everything before the tests, its impossible.

Here's some great advice: Go to class EVERYDAY and take down all the stuff he says, like excessive note taking. I don't recommend reading the book. Listen to him and study the suggested problems a bunch of times, and you'll end up with a B at least.
HORRIBLE! Worst English, very unclear about what he wants you to know, and will put you down!!! Keep him at an arm's length and do not let him take away from your self confidence. Chances are, you will not agree with the way he does things. READ THE BOOK! I cannot believe that SDSU has employed him for 20 years (he brags about it).

Class was hard, but the difficulty is exaggerated by everyone. Its the same material you learned in your previous classes, just more in depth. A lot of chapters to study. Cool guy, makes stupid jokes in class. Got a B+, kinda of pissed that I didn't an A. Believe me, you can pass this class.
Hes def not the easiest teacher, but do the problems (the answers are on reserve ) and I dont see how you can fail. Seriously, youll get at least a C. The book is no help, but youll need it for 423

If weekly 2 case reading & strategy proposal and one big case presentation every three week don't scare you off, then welcome aboard! This is the class that put what you've learned as a finance major to the test. He is not helpful since he won't give you any guidance related to cases. Participate in every class. CRUNCH NUMBERS & RESEARCH! got an A
He has clarity about the subject. Not very helpful but good to take his course.
This class is hard. The subject is challenging and the professor isn't helpful either. The examples in the lectures are much easier to understand than the actual exam problems. Exams are tricky, but he curves so you might be able to pass the class.
i truly enjoyed this class. it kicks your ass but is entirely worthwhile. just go to class and he'll notice.
I love Finance but this class was ridiculous. This man does not care about the students. Don't bother asking for help because u won't get any. The book does not match the problems. He doesn't want to be there and he reads from the book but can't do the problems. What a disservice to SDSU students. I am disgusted with the system...
This teacher was ridiculous. Stay FAR AWAY!!! The guy doesn't even speak good english and is very hard to understand. He does not go into detail on how to solve a problem causing you to read the textbook, which really didn't help. Get ready to teach yourself the concepts in the class and his tests were too complex. This is a warning...Stay AWAY!!!!
By far the worst teacher I've had at state. Can't say about other courses but definitely DO NOT take him for 323. Useless.. They might as well just have online Courses where you teach yourself..
This teacher was probably the worst teacher I have ever had in MY LIFE!!! Ok he's a nice guy and all, but he does not know how to teach. I honestly had to teach myself everything and the book didn't help. Dispicable how bad of a teacher he is; Stay Away!!!
I probably had to teach myself everything. Isn't helpful at all and isn't very clear in teaching the material. If you don't want to learn anything and struggle like hell to pass then go ahead and take this teacher. He doesn't even make his own tests, he takes his questions from a test bank. I basically taught myself the material. His lectures are completely useless, I never went to class just read the book and made sure I knew it inside and out. Doesn't use BB, not clear, kinda nice and funny but only cuz he's asian. Covers more chapters than any other finance323 prof, 6 chapters on first exam!

it wasnt as bad as i expected, dont get me wrong the class was hard! he is actually pretty funny at times! dont buy the book, just get the reader, show up every class and pay attention & u will be fine! tests are hard & tricky, but there is partial credit & a nice curve! 3 tests & 5 homeworks, no quizzes. btw dont open ur laptop in class!
All previous comments are dead on. Cant believe this guy is allowed to be a teacher. Just seems like he does not care and will not answer any questions. BY FAR the worst ive had. Does not use blackboard so you have no idea what kind of grade you have in the class until he posts them. Take Frank Ryan hes a hard teacher but at least hes a good teach.
I actually enjoyed this class. If you like to learn about your major then his lectures are interesting. Test are hard but not time pressured, if you do all the problems in back of chapter and test is fairly straight forward. I got a B+
I mean the hardest tests I have ever taken. I dont think he will be teaching this course again but this was his first and only semester of this course and we had two tests each 45% of our grade. But the worst part was that each test had 9 chapters...yes 9!! I couldn't understand a word he was saying and i hated it. DO NOT TAKE!
Worst Teacher Ever. Its a crime that this man is allowed to teach- while he may have a PhD in Finance, he lacks any type of people skills whatsoever. If you ask him any questions in class, he makes you feel like an idiot. I don't mind a challenging class, but I do mind about having a professor who does not care about his students.
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS. I am a finance major and got a C+. He is the worst prof I ever had. He is reluctant to clarify things when asked to. If you ask him a question or answer a question, he laughs/criticizes you so you feel like an idiot. He needs to learn how to teach and interact w/ students properly.
Encourages class to pick on each others presentations. He picks on you when you make a mistake. He gives no graded feedback and if you go to him for help he won't help you.I attended every class, did not participate and did the assigned work and somehow managed a B+. If you can handle a few intense hours a week this class really isn't that bad.

Song was the worst experience ive ever had at sdsu. he doesnt care about students, makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions and laughs at you if you do. he frequently left class before i did after lecturing, and going to his office hours will warrant a shooing. His carelessness is almost laughable.
By far the WORST teacher at SDSU. This guy has a PhD from Ohio State yet 1) Cant say a complete sentence in English 2) Has no sense of how to interact with individuals 3) Classifies himself as a "passive investor." Doesn't care about his students and just laughs at them. As of right now, he's the only one teaching 325 in F'11. GOOD LUCK!
tough to understand..doesnt use book hardly ever..exams are not mult choice..material coverage is not good but he is very generous in his grading..its possible to pass, youll think your failing and then see your final grade is decent bc he has such a huge curve
I will save you all some trouble. Just read the textbook inside and out and that's it. Lectures are based on the slides provided by book and test questions come the books test bank. I only went to class to be polite. Grade is based on 3 tests and homework. Tests are virtually impossible, MC with 5 choices. Graded curve is what saved me.
This teacher is AWFUL!!!! He cannot speak a sentence in English properly so it is really hard to understand him. His tests are ridiculous! I would just read the book and do the practice questions because his lectures are based from the power points taken from the book. Good luck this semester if you were unfortunate enough to get him.
Moon is the man! Class is extremely difficult however. study the power point slides and go to class!! Do the HW! def helps your grade in the end. Buy the book/or study guide. Don't stress people! Moon tries to be a hard guy, but really is a softy. All these people who complain just don't know what's good! This is upper div! Ended up w a B.

8-week summer class. Prof. Song not a good teacher. He's bad in communication. His English hard to follow. He didnt use Blackboard. Hard to know where u stand in class. He just read the slides so you better teach urself. Read book & do problems as much as u can. Attendance 10%, HW 10%, Mid 40%, Final 40%. Only topics coved in class are in exams.
Really hard to understand, took me 4 weeks to get the hang of his accent and I still miss a lot of what he says. He's a nice guy but he doesn't know how to teach or how to deal with students. The first hw he showed us how to get the answer but showed us the wrong way so marked us all down. Beware of this guy!
I was prepared for the worst. Turns out, he wasn't that bad. Although it's hard to stay awake in class, it's worth it to go. He's pretty clear on what he expects from you. Read the book, and then listen to his lecture, because it'll help you follow along. A+ review helped me some, but I think smart kids can get by without it. He's not bad at all.
He's actually not that bad. A+ is right on the money for this class BUT do all of his hw because that's whats on the exams except the numbers are different. He's a really nice guy. Also theres a nice curve. Attendance helps because he remembers faces.

Horrible class with an equally horrible teacher. Doesn't know how to communicate with his students appropriately, mocks anyone who asks a question that HE thinks has an obvious answer. A+ is the only way to pass this class. Going to class is almost pointless but he notices who attends. Very smart but doesn't know how to teacher to save his life.
Song's class isn't horrible, it's just difficult and he teaches it like a graduate-level course. A+ review definitely helps but it's much better to know the material ON YOUR OWN and then "review" with A+. Exams are difficult but are based off of homework and lecture. Textbook problems are not that relevant so don't spend a lot of time on them.
Not a good teacher at all. Very long, boring lectures and difficult to understand. Reads straight from power points. When anyone asks questions he acts as if it's a dumb question to ask and that we should understand everything. He will not help you on homework assignments.
Horrible professor. He is not clear. He means well but cannot teach to save his life. There is no study guide and anything on his power point is fair game (there is a lot on his power point). Avoid!

He usually read through the power point directly and have some lecture on the paper if he needs to explain more in detail. Recommending on printing his power point out to follow easier. The content is more on the calculation. He gave some extra credit project and not require to be in the class.
He means well but the lectures can be dry. 3 mid-terms (no final), 3-4 homework assignments and that is all. Show up to class to get on his good side.
The lectures can be dry but Song honestly is a funny guy and he always encourages his students to ask questions. Three exams and three-four homeworks make up your grade. You have to put in the work to pass the class. Not an easy class but none of the FIN 325 professors are easy.

My grade was a 35% at the end of the semester and somehow the curve put me at a C+. No class needed. A+ review will be your only lifeline
This class was accurate to its rating. He is a nice guy with good intentions but his teaching is just awful and he is hard to understand. Prepare to teach yourself for most of the semester. Tests are incredibly difficult so don't be discouraged if you get sub 70%, he curves. Physical homework from textbook questions, never takes attendance.
Worst professor of my life. Whole FINANCE course material is one single power point over 300 pages long and he just scribbles on it and erases it right away. every. sinlge. class. If you get the book don't even go to the class unless hes explaining hw he basically gives you the answers to those if you keep asking.
Song is nice but not great at explaining material. The concepts are super difficult and the test questions are 10x harder than the examples given in class. He also doesnt curve. Do all the homework, study the powerpoints and take good notes in class.
Only leaving a bad review because he DOES NOT allow backtracking on exam problems, which is terrible with a class that is heavy on math like this. Students need to be able to do problems with less steps FIRST when under time constraints. Please realize this, Moon. You also don't make clear sense when speaking. Avoid at all costs. Horrible lecturer, bad at explaining concepts, the entire class is 1 powerpoint he scribbles on and then erases quickly. Exams were only doable because they were online/open book; problems are nothing like the homework, which he acknowledges. Homework is graded on correctness & pop quizzes every class. Very unaccommodating man.
Prof. Song is a nice guy but the way he teaches is so bad. He has trouble communicating with students so it is hard to grasp even the basic concepts. You can try and self study with the book but he doesn't even give most of the solutions to the sample problems. The tests are way harder than his examples. Pick your poison for Fin325 professors tho
