should be retired asap to florida nursing home or bellvue hospital. Apparantly hes the new webster and made up a math vocabulary. hes an absolute degenarate who's completely not helpful and threatens you everyday by saying that 70% of his class will fail.

Not harder than calculus itself. He actually explains very well. Likes to belittle students though, but hey, that comes with the age. All 'seniors' at Baruch are like that. If you just need a good grade don't take him.
dont take him. his explanations ****me off. even though i passed his first test, i eventually had to drop in order to keep my gpa up. buy the solutions textbook if u wanna pass. pay little attention to him.
Awful professor. The first day of class, he demands that everyone give him a photograph of yourself for his records. Tell you to leave if you don't comply. Belittles students and loves to embarass them. Calls class dumb and says most of us will fail.
He knows what he's talking about. You just have to be willing to do the work. Nightly homework. 2 class exams - 2/3 of grade. Final - 1/3 of grade. Hard to get a A class average. Final easier than class exams. Very helpful though out of class.
Very wicked man. Only gives 2 in class exams and the 2nd one is after the drop date so if you mess up, you're out of luck. He does that intentionally. It's almost as if he goes out of his way to give poor grades. Boasts that most of us will fail.
Everything everyone else says is true- he is wierd, he can't teach to save his life and if you take his class, you will fail and will have to repeat it. Final is given by dept., you will not learn enough from him to pass the final.
I was honestly expecting horns to pop out of his head in the middle of lectures. No doubt he is related to Satan. Someone needs to spray him with Holy Water. How can a teacher be so heartless? STAY AWAY.
This man was a bitter, and I mean bitter old man. Likes to make students feel like crap, and uses the textbook for examples, I mean come on dude, use your own examples and teach. The first test I failed and failed the secondtoohwsavedmeand thefinalwaseasy
He told me i had no business being in his class. Said that i should know the material and that he shouldnt have to review. This was on the 3rd or 4th class. So i dropped. I hate to see how the rest of the semester went. From the reviews, i have a good guess. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!
he has been teaching since 1959 and knows his stuff. people do poorly because the material is hard, not because of him. nightly hw isnt bad because it helps you keep up, and he gives extra help. he has classroom rules but they aren't a big hassle to follow. if you wanna slack off, dont take him.
THIS PROFESSOR HAS HIS OWN RULES WHICH DOESNT MAKE ANY GOOD SENSE TO ANY ONE. HE JUST FOLLOW THE TEXT BOOK. HE DOESNT TELL ANY THING BY HIS OWN.
Glad I dropped this senile lunatic, judging from these reviews. He proudly told us most of us will fail, managed to degrade two students on the very first day, made it clear that he will make this class as difficult as he possible can.He should not be allowed anywhere near a college.Take Gartenberg inst
Took this class a semester ago expecting it to be somewhat challenging. Well.. turned out to be extremely hard, he expects you to know EVERYTHING and grades hard. Take him only if you are going for a math major or want to to bad.
AWEFULLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...he sucks big time...do not take that man's class.
This is not a student friendly professor. Only take this course if you know your material. If you do take him, be sure to read everything he hands to you carefully. Or else you won't know how to signal him for a review session or how he grades. Class avg was around 50 but he doesn't he curves, it's for wusses.
don't listen 2 anything , this professor is the best math professor. he is among the best in this schoo and certainly one of the best i have ever had. keep up the great work professor!

crazy old man, i showed up to every class and he still failed me, he needs to learn its not 1972 anymore
He is a hard grader, that's true. But, he really cares about his students. He wants us to do good on the final.
good professor~~
He's a really good professor. Calculus is realy hard for me and I get it now. He really cares about whether his students do well and goes out of his way to make himself available to help! I would take him again in a heartbeat.
He started off class by telling us that 80% of the students in baruch college end up either dropping or failing their first calculus class...not a nice guy
I never had a professor who cares about his students as much as Prof. Friedman does. If you do your work, you will get a good grade on the final and for the course. If you like math, take him, but if you dont like it and expect an easy A or B, take some one else instead because you're probably going to end up dropping this class anyway
He really cares about his students. He explains materials very well. He is always ready to help students.
he does his job but needs to learn not everybody finds math as useful or loves it as much as him
I didn't really like him at beginning, but it turned out that hes one of best prof in the math department i think. He made me work hard but i got an A as a payback, anyway,.hes a great prof,if u wanna learn sth, take his class, cuz he will help u in any way he can
RUN and DON'T LOOK BACK. I'm an A student and I did't let him wreck my GPA. He will teach you how much you can hate math. He teaches discipline, require a snapshot of each student and test you twice a day ( beginning and the end of each class). His explainations are totally unclear. You will learn nothing. RUUUUUUUN from him as far as you

He has a passion for math. He loves it too much. Homework needs to be done everyday and handed in for grading. His tests are really hard and u need to show all work or u fail regardless of whether you have the right answer. However he really cares for the students but u need to make a severe effort in order to pass, dont take him if u dont like work
this guy is one of the greatest teachers in baruch, very pationate about his work and his students. attendance is mandatory and homeworks too. you must do all the homeworks which he grades and make sure that you do them really good because trust me it has a lot of weight on your final grade. 2 exams which you basically have to do good in since he d
beginning, didn't like him b/c he made us feel stupid. gives out hwk every class. have your textbook and calculator EVERY class or you'll be kicked out. has something against asians. "i know it's against your ethnicity, but can u speak louder?" usually late to class. after a while, i started to like him. has mood swings. can't teach.
not good at all, this guy is weird stay away from him
he's a little weird. requires you to bring the txtbk and calculator or you get kicked out. must do your hw. tests are pretty hard. if anything hes a good professor but his class isnt easy
It is true that he belittles his students and makes them feel bad, but he does teach with a method. If you stay organized you should be able to do both tests and the final. Stop blaming your problems on him, unlike most teachers in Baruch, he doesn't play favorites, so obviously the people that got an A did the right thing.
shes an ok teacher just reads from notes all class...takes attendance in class but only looks at it if u complain bout grade...go to all recitaions that is where u will learn how to do the work...overall not hard midterm and final u gotta now ur stuff for them
A teacher who knows how to teach.
This Teacher is one Tough Teacher. GUys, if you ain't ready to learn then just get out of his class. He is very strict, his tests are hard, he has some tough rules and regulation, and grading policy you must follow. But at the end of the day, He Teaches excellent. You really learn, you can't walk out the class and say u didn't learn anything.
DO NO TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!! May be if he wont have anybody to teach he will realise that he should change his rules. He is very strict. Has extremely weird rulles. If you are used to doing things your way, this is not the class for you. You must have a calculator and a book at all times with you during the class or you will get kicked out. You
AVOID HIM!!!! He cannot teach. he is very boring and very hard grader. He makes you bring in your book and calculator everyday and if you dont hell kick you out. He gives three tests and doesnt mark fairly and gives homework everytime there is class..AVOID HIM!!!!
This professor seems to be a little mean and rude but overall he's a very nice man. He's mean and rude because he wants everyone to do good; he wants everyone to pass the class. He give 2 exams, 1 final(departmental final). He assigns hw everyday. I understood Calculus after I took him.
extremely demanding. He asks us to spend 3 hours studying home for every hr in class c'mon, im not lazy but thats pushing it. He's not that hard to understand but his attitude can bring your moral down
Friedman is easy. His tests come directly from the homework manual, so if you browse them..you should get a 100 on both his tests. Just study for the final and do his homework (most of the time, its only 2-5 problems).
if you're desperate and really need to pass calculus take him! he is demanind,no doubt, but its worth it. if you do everything he asks of you, there is no doubt that u will get an A in his class. first day of class he will try and scare you, but really its just a show. he will repeat himself over and over until u understand. hes great!
very mean. you have to bring the book and calculator to class every day or he won't let you stay. treats students like we are children.
I gotta tell you, Friedman is a great professor. Trully cares for his students. Takes time to write out all the answers to hw problems he assigns. He really trains you for the department final. He might try to scare you, but dont be intimidated...its simply his teaching style.
I would say he is one of the best professors i've had. When i say that, it doesnt mean that hes an easy A. He asks A LOT FROM YOU, but in the end its worth it. Makes u bring book and calc every day to class, but hey when ur paying $100+ for these things, he actually makes u use it so u dont feel like u've wasted ur $$. if u stick with him, u'll pas
probably the worst math teacher i have ever and will ever have. he completely ruined my love and interest in the subject.
Most arrogant and stubborn person ever Dont take HIM he is too arrogant to anser questions makes u feel like an idiot. After the firtst test more than half the class was gone.DONT TAKE WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!
He IS a difficult teacher, but if you actually try, you WILL do well in his class. He goes through each topic very thoroughly & does multiple examples until everyone understands it. He assigns hw regularly & requires you to bring the book & calculator to every class. It's definitely possible to get an A if you do your work & pay attention!
THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR I'VE HAD . HE IS ALWAYS THERE WHEN YOU NEED HIM SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR ANYONE TO FAIL. THE HELP IS THERE, TAKE IT. HE MAKES SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. HE WONT LEAVE UNTIL YOU GET IT. I TRULY RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED HIM!!!!!! APPARENTLY I WAS ONE OF DA FEW LUCKY FRESHMANS WHO GOT A TEACHER WHO ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME TO TEACH US MATH...HE IS VERY DEVOTED TO WHAT HE DOES AND WILL STAY ALL DAY 2 GUARANTEE YOU KNOW THE MATERIAL LIKE "YOU KNOW YOUR NAME". APPARENTLY OTHER MATH TEACHERS ASSIGN WEBWORK AND DONT REALLY CARE WHETHER STUDENTS UNDERSTAND
He's an absolutely gr8 teacher. I've read all of the complaints & 2 tell u the truth @ times he is a bit harsh but sometimes u need a kick in da ass & a dose of rude awakening 2 take college seriously..YOU R NOT IN HIGH SCHOOL ANYMORE! IF YOU'RE MAD THAT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO WORK IN HIS CLASS STAY OUT OF COLLEGE PERIOD! WHEN U GROW UP COME BACK!
professor friedman is a good calculus teacher for those who already learned the subject. for those who havent however he is very unclear and expects you to know EVERYTHING already.
This Math Professor was very good. He gave the time and attention to students. He taught very well, and explained each problem to students who didnt understand. If you want to learn math take this professor. if you want answers fed to you, then you should not take this professors. You have to work hard and understand, then it will be easy.
He is a strict teacher who likes to make stupid jokes. when you try to ask a question he most likely will tell you to read the syllabus or to email him. he really isnt helpful.
Good Professor teach well in math, always has patient to explain the solution, little bit restrict about download the solution from the blackboard. but I love him, and the way he teachs. easy to get Bs. take him!!!!!!
good teacher that teaches by the book. what else can be said?
don't take him. there is no way to explaiun how bad is he.
wow - this professor is a true embarrasment to the subject. he thinks he knows everything and since we are young, know NOTHING! he acts very much like a robot simply spitting out examples ftom the textbook without any true explanation. if you didnt take precalc dont bother wth this monster!
I DROPPED THIS CLASS BUT FRIEDMAN IS NOT A BAD PROFESSOR. It's a pretty difficult class. He gives no webwork, but checks homework diligently. Sometimes he doesn't explain the homeworks. His tests are moderate for 2205. Will help you as long as you need after class. Pretty good professor, just get ready to do work, as with any 2205 class.
He's probably the best math professor I had for a very long time. He makes sure you understand the subject before it moves on. He stays after class to help you if you have any question No webwork for homework which is a plus. Only give 2 exams. Don't worry if you fail the 1st you can bounce back on the next. Plenty of time to prepare for final
This professor is very passionate about getting his students to pass the course. He does have alot of rules but they are worth following. The way he teaches makes everything simple and easy, so i will recommend that you take his class.
He goes out of his way to make the class annoying. Removing homeworks, having to go through steps just to talk to him, ignoring questions and even attitude towards students who ask questions. He cries about RMP a lot and I am pretty sure majority of the comments are him trying to sound like a dumb students (pretty much his outlook on students)
Calculus is a very hard course but Professor Friedman is a great teacher. He actually makes sure that you understand the topic! Expect to do your work. He is a great professor and a stern grader. If you want to pass this class and know the course take him!
A lot of homework, 2 midterms, final. He will go over basic problems 100,000 times so by the time final comes you can be sure that you pass. If you want anything better than C you should study on your own, in class you will barely touch more difficult problems. Harsh grader of the homework, but very fair of the exams. Curves a lot.
Prof. Friedman is a great professor for people who are willing to put thet time and effort to actually learn and understand the subject (which he announces from day one). Do all the homeworks (and do well), put time in for studying (no harder q's than his hw's), and your gauranteed of least a B grade. Overall great prof.
Great Professor. Willing to help anyone who asks. Subject is hard so effort is a must. Textbook is needed everyday so must bring it to class. Graded homework everyday, 2 exams and final.
Class was extremely hard. His handwriting is very hard to understand and only 2 exams so have to do really good on them. Not a great giver for partial credit and expects you to know everything. Only explains things after class and doesn;t understand people pay for him to teach us only for a certain amount of time and have to work afterwards. AVOID
HARD CLASS!! Have to bring textbok and calculator everyday! or else you get thrown out of class. Homework everyday which he does not explain and the answers he give are so hard to understand because he has chicken scratch handwriting. Although he TRIES to be a nice teacher, he's a little too old to be teaching!! should retire.
Take him if you know nothing about math, he will teach you the very basic and go very very slowly over the matereal. If you are able to understand math at least a little bit, this class is not for you, you will waste your time repeating staff over and over again. However, he has a very good grading system, relatively easy final.
This is a retired professor that works part time. He was very strict and not flexible at all. He will not explain anything unless is part of his study plan, he does not enjoy what he does. His class is plain, and you have to drink coffee or you'll fall asleep. A sincere advice, DO NOT TAKE HIM, you will regret it. I passed his class but It was hard
I consider him to be a great professor. He will work with students until they understand what they used to have a problem with. I took the final today and felt very prepared,in large due to his dedication to students. He is very nice, makes jokes, and tries his best to make class interesting. He bought the class hershey kisses today before the final
He is a good teacher, because u make u study everyday. On the day of exams I study for an hour only, and the rest of the day I was just relaxing because he prepared us so good. He is strict which is good for each one of us. Atleast try him one time.
Professor Friedman is a good professor. He explains basic concepts in algebra really well, and will help you if you're having problems, but you have to take the responsibility to come to him first.
ehhh he does try to teach good. i failed by less then a point.very depressing especially after spending the whole summer taking the class.there is homework every night online with math lab. 2 tests and a final.STUDY!take really good notes, it would be helpful if he went over the hw in class instead of assuming we understand what we did wrong...
His class consists of 2 tests and graded homework every night. What sucks is that he only grades certain problems and he doesnt tell you which ones that he assigns, usually the hardest so you have to make sure that you do them all right. He explains things over and over in class. If you stay after, he will help you.
he thinks the student should know everything before he teaches...doesnt explain very well...tests arent that hard...u have to do hw...hw questions r similar to his exams...if ur an expert in math take him...or else stay away....
Very hard to follow through. Not what I expected the class to be. Not enough exams given and no quizes to help the grade. If u are very good in math and know what u doing then take this class if you are slow in math i would prefer u not to take his class.
Very good professor. Explaines the material well and will not leave the room until everyone understands. I took him in the Spring of 2008 and it was my 2nd time taking the course. Compared to my earlier professor, prof. Friedman was excellent. I actually learned and understood material. A lot of work but worthwhile.
if u wana fail, take him...HORRIBLE!!!!
GREAT MAN! Will follow-up on all questions. Will stay after class to help for as long as you need. Reasonable grading policy and very clear with explanations. Calculus is a very hard subject, but he certainly helps facilitate the overall learning process. Plus, he's pretty funny and witty! Reccommended.
This guy is a joke. Disrespectful. Makes the material harder than it actually is, if thats even possible. Like the person below me said, if you want to fail, take him!
this guy needs to retire....he should kno that its not the 1970s any more...worst prof at baruch....
He frequently gives Zeros on homework assignments, even if all your answers are right, just not the way he likes them. He lectures and scolds more than actual teaching, and takes away students' right to learn by kicking them out of class for something as small as visiting the bathroom. He can be helpful, but is in need of a new grading policy.
He sends us emails almost every day reminding us that we're not going to pass if we don't devote 3 hours to studying after every session. He talks down to us and told us we need to "Grow Up" on just the second day of the semester. You are better off with another professor.
Dropped the class. Super nice professor if you stay after but I was doing that and going to sacc. I was getting all the correct answers but getting zeros on the assignments. The take homework is an exam grade just fyi. I need a good GPA but if you don't care about your GPA you'll learn alot. He does yell at the students quite a bit.
Beware! This teacher has a major superiority complex and is a egomaniac who abuses his power. I left for the bathroom and when I came back, he locked me out. When I was finally let back in at the end of class, he forced me to pack up my books and leave. I was in tears.
HW everyday (his way, not SACC's way)-re-doable for higher grade. New lesson every meeting (covers everything you need to know in an orderly fashion). ANCIENT-been teaching 50+yrs. You'll probably hate his guts but, he'll teach you everything you need to know to pass the final so, take him. I recommend it!!
tough guy, strict, wants things done his way, no exceptions or excuses, very set in his old time teaching ways, his way ended up making me understand what I was learning, he is very organized, takes attendance each class, does not care about lateness, grades all hw's, keeps ur 2 class exams, works closely with textbook and final exam manual
Honestly, Math 2205 is NOT an easy course but it's mandatory that you pass it. If you are interested in a professor who will help you until you fully understand then this is your guy. He will literally stay as long as you need. Two tests, Homework daily (you get to re-do them with solutions). Doesn't mind lateness. Great guy. Funny too at times.
VERY hard class. But he really helps in the long run. You will hate him in the beginning but its all worth it in the end if you put in the effort. Daily hw but you get to make the grade up. You MUST bring the textbook. Latness doesnt count too much.
He wants things to be done his way, so if you do your work and follow his way, you should be fine. Tests are pretty hard but the final is easy. He will go over things that you dont get until you get it. He expects you to learn some stuff on your own so sometimes its hard.
MUST bring every material to every class session. (textbook, matrix book, calculator, test samples) homeworks are given every day. He is very strict; must do everything the way he wants you to do it. Its not that he's evil, it's just calculus is naturally difficult. he is very helpful, you can always ask him to stay whenever you need tutoring.
Requires you to bring every book to class & WILL kick you out if you don't have it. Complicates math by showing you the long way and accepts only his way of achieving answer on test. He allows you to ask Q's but intimidates you when you ask. Nicer outside of class if you ask for help. Half the class dropped out. Grades hw as quiz & is not reviewed.
Strict teacher and tough. Explains very well. Extremely good looking, he gave me a kiss ony my final. i couldnt concentrate in class because i was entirely focused on his goodlooks
Pretty good proffesor, very strict though. Extemely attractive, he gave me a kiss on the day of the final, i was sooo happy. Hard to concentrate in class because hes ridiculously goodlooking
Hard class, but excellent teacher. Do all your homework, ask questions in class and you will be fine. Very dedicated and funny at times. One of the better math teachers, and is not bad on the eyes.
Calculus is a difficult subject, most especially when your professor is as HOT as him. The first exam is easier than the second/ you have to have all the materials in class or else you will be kicked out. ask him to stay for tutoring and he'll do it but try to have your questions ready or else you'll end up checking him out for the whole time ;)
the only people who would rate him poorly are those who didn't put enough effort into the class. Calculus is tough, you need to be able to interpret and understand all of the material. Yes, the class dropped down to about 8, but he cares! he tries his best to get you to understand, and it's NOT his fault if you fail... Plus he's like a GQ model
You really need to know your stuff in order to get a decent grade in his class. Listen to his instructions and you'll do just fine and follow what he says and you'll get a good grade. He preps you VERY well for the final. If possible, TAKE HIM. You won't be disappointed. Plus, he is incredible attractive!
Definitely a good teacher and always available for extra help. But not an easy A by far. His tests are difficult and as he says you must be able to know the stuff as well as your own name otherwise you will fail.
He is a tough teacher and an even tougher grader, so in no way will his class give you an easy grade. In his class, be happy with a B+. However, he is extremely dedicated to his students, and though his attitude may come off as harsh or brash, he genuinely cares about his students and his subjects. Two tests + a final, don't mess any of them up!
Extremely helpful. Excellent at teaching. Give you good amount of work but is worth it. Take it with confidence, you will do well on the final.
Please dont take him. On the first day of class we did a problem without even knowing his name. He is very strict on the textbook and will kick you out if you do not have it. He is a really hard grader and does not go over hw. Im really good at math and i did not feel prepared for the final one bit. do not take!!
at the beginning of the semester we had almost 30 students, and by the end of the semester only 12 remained.Make your own conclusion from this statistic.
I think the person rating below me was in my class... Anyways, he isn't so bad. The class itself is hard. Half the people in the whole school who take it, drop it, and half of whats left fail. He is strict though, but he will help you. HW is much better, since there aren't 50 questions a night. There are only 2 tests as well.
He is tough n rough. He wants and demands his and only his way of doing...everything,including how and where you sit. But he is organized. I think, the subject looks hard bc there is lots of info in a very little time. He is deff not the easiest one out there, so if you are not comfortable with math.. won't recommend.
Horrible just horrible sometimes he gets lost while explaining work and kicks people out for not bringing a textbook luckily I took calc. Before so I'm passing but people who never did I wouldn't recommend his class
He was demanding. He made us carry the textbooks everyday to class and he assigned hw every night. He's a strict grader as well. He would kick you out of class if you didn't have what he asked you to bring. I'm just glad I'm out of that class. I still remember the very first day, he insulted us and the insults never stopped. DO NOT TAKE HIM !!!
He is one amazing professor. Before him i hated math, i had no good math teachers, ever. I took him and i do not regret it whatsoever. He's a difficult professor, if you dont want to do work do not take him, if you dont mind a Little extra work go ahead and you WONT regret it. He is the best professor. DO what he says anda perfect score is possible
If you hate homework and want to put in minimal effort to get an A, do not take his class. He is a great professor who really wants you to do well on the final department exam. Do what he tells you to do, and you will get at least an A-. If you need help, he will stay as long as you want him to stay after class and he gives extra credit assignments
He teaches the material well. you'll understand almost everything by the end of the class. BUT you have to come to every class and do every homework perfectly. He takes off points off of selected problems in each hw just because you didnt write down all the steps. Two midterms, one final. All extremely hard because you have to do them in a short pe
If you are one of those students who hate homework, I would not recommend this professor to you at all. He takes points off for missing work and stupid mistakes. His exams are also challenging because of the amount of questions. However, if you have taken AP calculus before (and do all of his problems), you will be fine. He can be scary, but helpfu

This man demands the respect of his students, but the way this man asks for respect is more than insulting. Multiple times through out the course he would make highly insulting remarks on his students. Worst of all he seems to have a liking to lecture on the attitudes and cultures of other people. I came to learn not be insulted. Don't take him.
do not take him. i've never dropped a course before but in his class i felt forced. he's insulting and rude. do. not. take. him.
He's VERY rude. He likes to embarrass his students. He believes that it will help us if he will keep on telling us that if we dont know the lectures as well as our own name, we're gonna fail, and that made me fail because I became too anxious. He's pretty good, but the subject is just so hard. He's a VERY HARD grader. Take off TOO MUCH points
Made tests too easy so we were not prepared for department final. did not prepare us for final. Very rude as well
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! I never dropped a class before i took him. He throws you out of class for the most craziest things. Very tough grader. He likes to embarrass his students and makes you feel stupid. Do not waste your time with this teacher.
Although at times in class he can have an abrasive tone to him, and other times come off as rude, he is still a helpful professor after class and in class. My problem is not with the professor, but the tests. While the questions are fair, and he is only trying to prepare you for the final, an hour to do a very hard test is unreasonable.
Great Professor! seems to be a little too tough at first, but in a little while you realize that it´s just him being very organized, caring about his job and his students. Great and thorough preparation for the final.
he is a excellent professor. his teaching method help me to understand the math very well, not just to memorize the math. His class is easy if u do the HW. Even though he is very strict, but all his purpose is to help students pass the math exam. just did what he ask to do and u will be fine.
He is a very excellent professor. He care about his students and his class is well organized. His teaching method help u to UNDERSTAND the method very well, not just memorize math. even though he is very strict, but his purpose is to help u to pass the course.just do hw and u will be fine.very well prepared for the final. i got 100 in the final.
HE IS THE MOST BRILLIANT PROFESSOR THAT I EVER SEEN.
I have to say that this was the most challenging class I took in my college years. It was difficult, and even though I did not do well on the final, nor get credit for the course, I feel it has challenged me. The professor thought me in a way other professors can't teach. So I am greatful to have been apart of a class with this knowledgable prof.
In the beginning, he makes himself seem like your worst nightmare ever. By this way, he roots out those who are not committed to this class. After this process is over, he reveals his good side which is as great as anybody can be. I only recommend his class IF AND ONLY IF you are patient, dedicated, and ready to learn.
One of the worst professor out there. Old school, stick to his guidelines. If you have a question, see him after class. He will never answer any of your question even though he asked if anyone has a question? Very unorganized, spend more than half the class time going over his rules than the actual material. A smart professor, lack teaching skills.
This professor is the only math professor I know that actually wants you to understand math. He goes with the material slowly, and is always open to answering questions. Also, he is always available during his office hours and much longer, to help his students. Just do the work, study, and you will be able to pass this class with a good grade.
Great professor who is wiling to help if you come see him after class. However, he took off too much points from home works and test for any ill mistake. If you put dedication and work hard, you'll get a good grade.
He is very very strict in class if your phone rings you get thrown out. If you look up during a test your test gets taken away. He is extremely hard but he CHALLENGES you, if you visit him after class in his office he's wiling to help you with anything. I dropped but he was a real challenge, Avoid him if you're not willing to study 2 hours everyday
don't take him unless you like to be shout at. very rude! make easy question complicated. don't take him if you are good at math. he will ruin your grade.
Pushes you, stay on top of the work and you'll be okay. If you're confused he will help you (just be open to criticism). overall 7/10: DHD
Avoid this guy at all costs. He will destroy your GPA. He's a completely different person outside class (if you meet him in his office) but in class he's RUTHLESS. You forget to put lim as inf->x ONCE, THE WHOLE THING IS MARKED WRONG. So unless you're a super math nerd and want a huge challenge. DO NOT TAKE HIM! You're going to cry if you take him!
Not for those who get math concepts slowly. Your grade will be SOLELY determined by an average of your two class exams and a hw grade averaged from 20 hws during the semester. The final exam counts as 1/3 of your grade so you better study from day 1 IF you want your finalexam to help your grade. Textbook is MANDATORY for EVERY class lesson. BEWARE!
He is very strict in terms of having calculator, textbook, and keeping cellphones off. Strict grading policy in terms of homework and tests. He's very helpful, but the material isn't easy. Always ask for help from your tutor or the professor. He's hard on you but that keeps you on your toes. That's why I received a perfect score on the final.

He is very intimidating at first but as time goes on he opens up little by little. Don't take it personally if you get yelled at. He is not the best person around to teach Calculus. *Bring your textbook and calculus to class, or else you get kicked out.
I took Professor Friedman's class as there were only two professors offering the 3030 class. Best decision ever! Professor Friedman teaches the topics needed for this course clearly and concisely. He does not try Trick you during exams or quizzes. However his exams are based a lot on the homework as he expects you to complete most assigned.
He is a great teacher to have for calculus. He will push you and make sure you get everything down. Easy A if you do all your homeworksgo to him during office hours if you don't understand anything.
One word : CONFUSING
He is a tough professor. He can be a little intimidating. He doesn't let you look at the clock during tests, and usually won't answer questions in class. However, if you go to him after class or at office hours he will help you. I think he cares if his students pass, if they put the effort in. Calculus isn't easy. Text and calculator are mandatory.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! His handwriting is very sloppy. He is strict and requires students to bring a calculator, textbook ect.. or else he will kick you out. Test are hard and a complete a surprise from the regular webassign. Emails students a day before to put material on the test he did not teach. Worst professor ever. AVOID
I thought he was a decent professor at the beginning. However, as time progresses things will only get worse. Web & textbook hw due before class, lots of tricky questions. As for exams, you HAVE to apply his methods for full credit. Overall, his grading policies will be the reason why you drop the class. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE! He's a horrible prof & this is coming from someone who is a great math student but he can't teach at all. Takes off a ridiculous amount of points for simple mistakes, can't look up during an exam, will kick you out if you don't have the textbook. He's too strict & rude af. Save your $$ and your time by avoiding this grandpa.
Let me put this into perspective. 35 or 40 people were in my class when it first started. After the dropout deadline was over there were only 12 left in the class. There is a reason for this. A. The students have already taken calculus before B. Its their last chance to pass the course C. They believe they can still manage a B average (lol)
Prof. Friedman's class is extremely difficult. I studied about 20 hours per week for the entire semester and received a B. He grades every homework assignment and combines all of them at the end of the semester as a test grade. There are only two other tests for the semester and very limited extra credit. This class is very challenging.
He was a tough teacher but that's what pushes you to study. I personally am a math lover so I passed with flying colors. He's actually really nice if you bother going to his office hours. All you have to do is study and repeatedly do the questions. Form study groups, they will help -- oh and befriend the smart person
Arrogant and Rude. Send day of class he kicked me out because I still have not received my text book. Very disrespectful and not recommended. His teaching skills are horrible and so is his handwriting . Be prepared he's very unprofessional for a University teacher. More like a middle school teaching skill.
He is rude, not helpful, you will do much better if you just do not listen to him, he lacks ability to explain.
Never had a prof like him in my entire life. Be ready to master the whole book cause his tests are super hard. Gives you a review for the test but the questions on the test are completely different than his review . It was a waste of my semester and my money. It was a horrible class also more than half of the class dropped.
If you want to pass this class, don.t take him. His exams are tricky, there is no extra credit at all in his class and he is so unclear and confusing while teaching. He will make jokes about you not passing this course and discourage you.
Worst Prof ever! Don't take him please. Save yourself from failing. He is rude, doesn't know how to teach and doesn't help. As a prof he should be willing to help his students pass but he doesn't care. He will put you down and discourage you. Don't take him! Trust me. He also made a couple of girls in our class cry,
AMAZINGGGGGGGGG. I thought he'd be mean at first but he's really cool and funny. He's like a turkey...... BUT I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!! I mean sure he has strict rules but overtime you get use to it and he actually really helps you out.
Super cool. I have no bad comment. LITERALLY THE BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD THIS SEMESTER. I am totally gonna miss him. He really helps students out and to be honest he can be really intimidating at first but he's cool. OH BTW ALWAYS HAVE YOUR TEXTBOOK!!!!!!
Calculus is tough, but the professor does his best to teach it well. He's a genius. BREAKS DOWN everything, so learning the material isn't too tough. Do what he ask of you and you will pass. 3 test and 1 final. The homework counts as a THT (which is good), practice the material. EC is given. Recommend going to office hours. READ COURSE HANDOUT 3.
Overall he is a nice guy but a very strict teacher and tolerates no nonsense. His tests are hard and considerably much easier than the final. If you want to do well in his class you have to put a considerable amount of time into it. Don't hesitate to ask him questions during class or during office hours no matter how intimidating he seems.
I wouldnt ask questions bc he would say that we are suppose to know that already or smirked (sometimes laughed). His not are very unclear BUT if you manage to read it, it was helpful. classmates and I went to tutoring numerous occasions with different tutors and were taught different methods, which he did not approve of. usually long line @ office
Worst professor to ever teach calculus. He is very condescending and even calls his own students stupid if they do not know the answer to something. You're better off teaching yourself because all he does is read the definitions to things off the book and then gives you problems to do. He throws you into the lions den with nothing.
Absolutely terrible, go to tutoring and teach yourself if you want to pass or transfer immediately. Cannot teach and rants about Handout 3 every chance he gets. Takes off points on homework for one piece of "missing work" in a five step equation.
Honestly class is not hard and he does not seem that bad. Only problem I have is his lack of communication. + WebAssign HW sucks, as I am sure that I solve equations right, but I have no clue how to insert the answers. He doesn't care as well and there is nobody who can help. No extensions or suggestions from him. The class is Total Mess!
Where do I start? For one thing, he's a really tough grader. For another, he rants about handout 3 every chance he gets. He's amicable if you're on his good side, although he will never be lenient in grading. WebAssign will save your grade, so do all assignments! His tests are somewhat more difficult than assignments so study! Always bring the book
Don't take this guy. This guy is the definition of tenure. He's extremely harsh, he insulted me in class calling me unintelligent even after I visited him after class multiple times to ask for help. Miserable professor he will make your life hell. If you look up during the exam he takes it away, what is this?
Terrible professor. Exams were extremely hard compared to his lecture or homework assignments. Made me feel like i was too dumb for college. However, you are not dumb and it is just the teacher. Took another calculus class the semester after i dropped his class and got an A. This time, it really is the professor's fault mom!
This is a hard class. The final is extremely hard but Professor Friedman does his best to prepare his students. He's a tough grader, but really wants to make sure students understand the material. He encourages students to ask questions and go to office hours. This course requires a lot of time and effort if you want to pass.
He is a very difficult professor. I took calculus in high school which is why I was able to do well in this class. For those of you taking calculus for the first time DO NOT take his class. Read handout 3 or else he will find out you didn't. On the tests, do the problems exactly how he wants if you want an A. I got 100 on the final, it's easy.
he is the most discouraging professor I've ever met. He spent 30 minutes before beginning his lecture just to tell us that we were all going to fail his class. Ruins your GPA. Seriously stay away!!
For those saying professor Freidman is disrespectful have no idea what they're talking about. I took Calculus 2207 twice. It IS a HARD course, you have to practice the problems everyday. He is caring, he puts his time in to make sure you understand the material and makes himself available for extra help. Most caring math professor out there!!
Continued from my pervious post. I took Max Lee my 1st time taking the class & he didn't care about his students at all. You must be prepared for class. People are saying the professor has insulted them meanwhile they probably are not prepared for class and don't listen to his instructions that he provides you with. This is college, be prepared.
Do not take this teacher! Regardless of how well you understand the material, your grade is dependent on his mood. Homework grades are extremely subjective with his definition of a "perfect solution" making it almost impossible to receive full credit on the question. Tests count too much; emphasis on an easier final is lowered. Irrational teacher.
worst professor/teacher that i have ever met in my life. he is a total d-bag with a serious attitude problem. DO NOT TAKE HIM. he's sexist, plays favoritism (especially if your a jew) and he'll even hate you if you struggle understanding math and he will repeatedly tell you to drop the course.
MTH 2207 is a tough course in general but he's not as terrible as some say. You WILL need to be prepared (always bring the textbook and calculator)and his exams are difficult to some. DO WEBASSIGN. If you aren't prepared, you WILL be removed from the class by him. He's an ordinary professor.
gave him grade of 1 because i couldn't give him less than that. You cannot ask questions if you don't give him the RIGHT question at Right time, he will yell at you. forget to bring your calculator, textbook or whatever he is looking for you to have? you have to leave the classroom. the course was so hard because of him, not the course itself
He's horrible! It was such a bad experience like this!! I think at this point he's frustrated too. He should consider retirement!!
Took this proffessor and drop the class after 2 lectures. His attitude is horrible. Feels that he hates everyone for taking his class. He worgot that the main reasoin we are paying for this school is to actually learn something and do better in life. Baruch should send someone to monitor his lecures and fine him for being rude.
Big mistake. I had to drop this class, waste of time and money.
try to conceptualize how bad this teacher is. there were 30 students at the start of the semester, and now theres 8 left because 22 dropped. If that doesnt make you realize to avoid this class, nothing will
He has a disgusting attitude. You MUST bring your textbook, calculator or whatever he requires you to bring to class or HE WILL KICK YOU OUT OF THE CLASS. He does not respect any of his students, he seriously only wants to see everyone fail. He calls everyone in his class "products of malpractice" and up until someone called him out on it. Terrible
there are professors who dont care about their students and then there is professor Friedman. this man takes not caring about students to the extreme as he gives his students an attitude while being by far the worst mathematics teacher I have ever taken. professor klugman is a better alternative if possible
Absolutely horrible. 60% of the class failed the first exam and he blamed us for failing it. His grading system makes everyone lose point because if you dont do something his way you automatically lose points.
Take another professor. The materials it self isn't particularly hard. But professor Friedman has poor communication and people skills. He is very rude to his students, and his rules are absurd. He doesn't allow students any flexibility to learn in methods that work best for them. Its either his way or your wrong.
This professor is the worst professor in all of Baruch!! Takes pleasure in failing students, can barely go through the material due to his old age. His teaching style consists of putting problems on the board and having students do them without teaching the material first. HORRIBLE HANDWRITING!!! KICKS PEOPLE OUT for no reason.. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
This professor would be fired if tenure didn't exist.
Inadequate at preparing students and cannot teach at all! Homework questions are easier than his tests. In class questions are even more easy, and then he gets mad at the class for failing his tests, which by the way, are reused everyday. He claimed he "works hard," but hey, he can't even be bothered to put in the effort into making a new test.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this class. The class subject is alright, but the professor is the absolute worst. I made an account just to put this here.
As long as you study and pay attention you're good to go. Go to his office hours and actually try to put in an effort. His tests are a little tricky, but all calc tests are. Read the textbook and do practice questions and BeH it will work out!
Friedman is very particular in the things he expects from his students. READ THE MANUAL. Every single word in it matters to pass! It is a fairly easy course, but the in-class tests are not as easy (no m.c.). You must have the required materials or you're kicked out of class. He does spare time after class to help. KEEP UP WITH HW and emails!
This is a tough course but he will provide you with all the necessary materials for you to not only pass, but to succeed. Offers up so many resources and cares about student questions and concerns.
Do not recommend if this is your first time taking calculus. He does explain the material in a efficient way Avoid this class if you can
The only bad prof I had so far here at baruch 10/10 would not recommend
He is unreasonably strict sometimes but does it with good intention to prep you. Always come prepared with textbook and calculator so he doesnt kick you out! Dont skip class because you will be so lost since he teaches in his methods that he expects you to replicate. Tests are very hard but final is easy if you do all the practice tests.
Can't understand the chicken scratch he puts up sometimes. Handouts he puts up on Blackboard explicitly explain his rules, however, his written solutions aren't as clear.
Professor Friedman is tough with grading but he is very helpful. If you pay attention in class, you'll do good. If there's something you don't understand, ASK. He might point you out in front of the whole class but at the end of the day you'll understand. He allows plenty of time to prepare for tests and has reviews. Doesn't allow you to leave.
I found him to be rude and condescending towards the class, if no one had the answer for the problem on the board, or to whoever has raised their hand for help, AFTER he asks for you to ASK him for help. grades homework question by question instead of for completion. doesn't give partial credit on exams, and goes over material very fast! don't take
i don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said. so ill talk about the class itself. Unless your Einstein you need to put in the time and effort to pass or do well. But don't believe that reviews that tell you its impossible to pass with him. He teaches(maybe not the best), but you need to do your part outside of class.
IF you don't staple your homework, he will give you a zero. He's very rude, and all he says is that we don't respect him. Taking his class is tourture. He doesn't even know how to teach. I took another summer class with Fink and he is much better than Friedman. The funny thing is that half of my classmates come from Friedman's class.
This class is strictly you being self taught especially if you don't understand HIS methods, and the notes he posts after class is hard to read if you went to class or didn't LOL, he shows favoritism to women, gets nicer when more and more students drop, he never really recaps what was taught oh EVERYTHING IS ONE BIG TEST GRADE LMAO don't miss hw!!
