Professor Milner is young and newer to EMU. He has a very refreshing teaching style that makes you take interest in the material. He combines lectures with jokes and personal stories. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot. I would recommend taking a class with Professor Milner if you have a chance.
"Welcome to another exciting day of Management 386!" Milner is new, young and AWESOME! Makes the course very easy even though the course is easy in itself. He makes the course relatable.
Probably the most down-to-earth professor I've ever had at EMU. Lots of fun, fair grader, and very easy to relate to. The material was simple, and he kept it from becoming a bore, which is more than I can say for most professors. And his exams come straight from the notes, which he keeps online.
I would recommend taking him, I skipped a lot of classes and still got an A. He provides a study guide before the test, so make sure that you study everything on the study guide and I guarantee you that you will get an A on the test. He was a little slow at returning my emails but if I had to take him again I would in a New York Minute.

Milner is young and exciting. He can actually relate to the class. He allowed us to decide what we wanted to do during the semester and how to structure the class. We had test bank question tests with short essay (not hard). He gives you a study guide to know what will be on the test. I would take him again!

AWESOME!! This is my second class with him and he's great. Fun to listen to and lets you out early!
Relates real world experiences to subject matter. Tests and grading are fair. Seems like he wants his students to learn material to apply it in workplace, not necessarly on the test.
wonderful teacher.. the only bad part was that you had to do a group presentation! other than that it was a great class. you will honestly learn a lot in his class. i recommed you not buy the book.. he hardly ever uses it and he gives you slides.. so there is really no point.. he will basically tell you what is going to be on the exams anyway!
Dr. Milner is an excellent lecturer. I enjoyed his class very much. First class instructor.
Milner was awesome!! Hes funny as hell... His lectures are very interesting and he gives you real world examples for better understanding. I would not buy the book. I didn't buy it and got an A. He gives your powerpoint slides thats all you need. I would take him for every management class if I could!!!
Nice guy, and the tamale icon definitely applies here, he's hot as heck!! The class was reasonably easy and laid back, don't hesitate to register for one of his classes. However, he has a tendency to gloss over some of the material with a ho-hum kind of attitude..nice for us, less to study, but can seem like a lack of passion for his subject.
Very easy-going, helpful professor. However, it was an easy A. If you're looking for a challenge, this class will not be one. Still one of my favorite classes because of the course material and atmosphere in the class.
Lots of interesting classroom discussion. Made class much more interesting. Explains everything well. Good stories. I learned a lot.
Best teacher I've ever had. He takes a relatively boring topic and makes it exciting. If you have to take 386, you must take Milner
Great teacher! Very interesting class. You only have to do one group presentation. Easy and great class. He hardly ever takes attendence, but when he does and you are not there he deducts points.. so skip at ur own risk
Very interesting and engaging professor. He's very open minded and open for discussion. He tries to engage you in learning about management rather than repeating power point. Very fun and easy to work with, highly recommended.
Class is not very demanding: 3 tests and 1 group presentation. The tests are not too hard, but his lectures do not really help. He is really nice and funny though...loved the stories about his kids!
good proff..go ahead
Best prof. ever. he is very fair in grading and also very entertaining. one of the few classes i actually liked going to. definately take his courses, i will take his course again.
He is a very good teacher, and he is welling to help. I recommend this teacher for this class.
He is a very good professor, very fair grading. Easy and give extra credit.
Very good Prof. Very nice and very fair! Keeps class interested in lecture. You will learn a lot from this professor! Looking forward to taking another class with him!
Great Prof. Easy going, & a smart person too. Knows stuff well also knows how to teach the class. Good at grading too. Would recommend him +++++++++++++
Extremely smart, and entertaining. Exams are difficult though. You don't really need to buy the book, I never opened it. Fair grader, 3 exams, a presentation, and a short paper. I would take him again.
Absolutely great professor. Easy grading. Helpful. You may not see professor like this anymore.
responds OK to email.
Relatively easy exams and coursework. Instructor is friendly, approachable, and most importantly, easy to understand - speaks clear English.
Great Prof. Does a good job at engaging students and making a not so interesting subject interesting. Would recommend him to anyone!
Great teacher, would highly recommend to anyone. It is barely necessary to attend class but if you do he is interesting to listen to. He doesn't read right from the powerpoint, he adds stories and encourages the class to add stories.
Great! Great! Professor! He makes the class very interesting. Attendance only helps you. I did not purchase the book and received a B.
don't bother buying the textbook, just read the slides he provides. very entertaining, personable teacher, very accommodating when you need help. subject is a little dry, but he does ok in inspiring a vague amount of interest. *repeat* do not bother buying the book
Best teacher I have had at Eastern. So engaging and wants you to learn and progress positively in class. Always available to help if needed, but you won't need it. Don't buy the book, read the slides! Have fun, he's an amazing teacher!!!
Very good lecturer! Makes class interesting and fun!
This guy is fun and makes the class actually interesting. He tells you what to study for the tests, and the tests aren't hard at all. You don't need the book, but it is good to have if you are going to miss a few classes and weren't able to write notes. If he wasn't married with kids, I would ask him out!
IGNORE PREVIOUS RATINGS! He reads this site and has changed his teaching style because of it. His now relies more on the book and not on his slides. He assigns a book that contains tons of charts to study. He goes over the slides way too quickly for you to fill in the blanks. There are 3 tests that are somewhat challenging. There is a big group pro
He relies on the book and the book slides so much its sickening. His tests are very hard, STUDY! 3-4hrs day. Spends hardly any time on teaching the material, more less just scrolls through slides at lighting speed. The group project he assigns has way to many people in it and you have no idea what your graded on until the day of!!
Agree with 2 previous ratings. He has increased the difficulty of his class. His tests were definitely much more challenging than they should have been - very wordy and tricky. Extremely nice guy and a very fun class. But if your not a good test taker, avoid. He grades practically on exams. I had a great group, many did NOT
Prof and class were great. He told us exactly what was going to be on the tests, some people just don't bother coming to class to know this. The group project was kind of hard in the sense that the group sizes were large- but other than that, a breeze. If you can manage reading the book, and understanding it, you will be more than fine.
The group project is difficult in trying to coordinate 9 people to gather for a meeting. He uses slides but some information is missing so you must use the book! He tells you exactly what is on the test, if you show up and study you will do fine.
Milner is a great guy. He's really down to earth and motivates you to learn in his class. He will not spoon feed you, does teach from the slides, but the slides and his lectures really helped me. It is more participation based and makes it interesting. His exams are a little difficult, but he tells you what you need to know. I recommend him
Awesome teacher and incorporates lots of real life experiences. The class is straight to the point with no useless material taught. He tells you what to study for the test and as long as you come to class and go through the book you will do good. Go to the presentations, they are actually interesting.
Excellent class. Teacher has plenty of real life experience and very knowledgeable. Clearly explains what he expects of you. Textbook use high, but text was surprisingly an excellent read. Cannot recommend enough.
Best teacher I have had at Eastern thus far. However, if you are not a great test taker I would not advise you to take this class. He is enthusiastic and loves his job!!!! Turned a boring subject into a very interesting one. GREAT GREAT Professor!! EMU needs to keep him around.
Best Prof I've had at EMU. He doesn't just lecture slide, he gives real life scenerios to help you learn the material - and he has some GREAT stories! I HIGHLY recommend him for anything he teaches. If you read the text and show up for exams you will probably do well - he lays out the materials so clearly. But he's so good, I would attend class!
Uses publisher's PowerPoint lectures, makes available to students fifteen minutes before class. Real world stories he adds are boring, encourages students to add their own. Easy weekly homework online. No need to go to class other than exam review (two), easy 50 question multiple-choice. He discontinued group oral presentations for Fall 2010.
Very good class. Professor Milner was very well versed with the subject matter. One small issue, he had so many students from other classes, he was not always returning e-mails as fast as I thought he should have.
Online section. I would highly recommend Dr. Milner. He's knowledgable, a fair grader and applies the concepts to real world scenarios.
Milner is the best teacher in the EMU i take with her MGMT 386 and im going to take other class with her
Best professor to have. Easy grader, Simple material and many points to flow around
His lectures he gave were from past history and personal stories, which made it easy to remember when it came to exams. Textbook not necessary if you attend class and write down the definitions and understand the model-structures in his slides. Grades fair, although attendance not mandatory was helpful for exams to have better references.
Without a doubt the best prof at Eastern. Take him for as many classes as you can!
great class test were from the book but book was really simple. easy class i would take if your taking a bunch of hard classes. business plan was challenging but its manageable
Great professor, understands students have other classes. He is very helpful and teaches the material well. I highly recommend this professor.
I received a failing score on the midterm and it was all multiple choice. The format of the course is easy/good, but the exams are very challenging. I will let you know how the final works out & if I actually pass the class or not.
This was a great class. The structure was outlined to fit the needs of a busy college student. It used real world examples to help students have a high understanding of ethics and the decisions to make in life. The professor was very thoughtful and graded fairly. Highly recommend!
This was a hybrid class with most of the work being done online. Class attendance not required. But it was good to go for clarification and for the great real world stories. Best professor I have ever had!
Best teacher ever!!! Cool guy. I hardly showed up and Got an A. But I’m a borderline genus ;) and king procrastinator. Test are online. Doesn’t read off power points. Provides real life examples to relate to course. take him by any means necessary !
Cool professor. 6 ten-question online quizzes straight from book = 35% of grade (I got nearly 100% using ebook). 1 five-question final taken online. 1 massive scholarly report where you have to distribute a survey to 100 people and analyze results. He is highly skilled in reading scholarly journals. Paper is a decent amount of GROUP WORK.
Taking this class over the summer is the best thing to do. This is suppose to be a writing intensive class and for the summer sessions he cuts out all of the essays expect the final. As long as you participate in class and do the 5 online discussions you will pass. It helps that he makes the class really interesting!
Hybrid course, but very helpful and straight forward. Once a week lectures were interesting and never boring. As long as you do online assignments and participate, you'll get an A. One midterm and one final. 50 questions, open book, an hour and a half to complete. Loved him as a professor.
He knows his stuff. Go to his lectures for in-class based quizzes. (I took hybrid course). Text based quizzes were easy. Use the power-point presentations for reference on the quizzes. Certainly one of the better professors I have had at EMU. His lectures are very interesting, and actually valuable. Go to class and take notes, easy A.
Easy. Barely did anything in class except talk. all assignments and tests were online and very easy. You could do them all with the book next to you. Wants you to read the textbook but not necessary.
Professor seemed to explain everything very well.
I have taken Professor Milner for MGMT 386 and MGMT 480W. I would highly recommend taking a class with him. I have learned a lot from him and actually use a lot of the advice and information in my personal and professional life. The homework assignments and his lectures actually have substance rather than simple reading off a power point.
The grade is based on 2 tests and 4 quiz's. The quiz's are based on the lectures which are only once every other monday, and the tests are based on the book and the answers are really easy to find. Easy A class, its actually interesting when you do have class, which for me I only had 7 or 8 classes total through out the semester.
Dr. Milner is great! He broke this class down into digestible sections so that what seems like an incredibly difficult task ended up being seamless. It is imperative to have a good group of people in your group! Don't settle for slackers in your group!
Do not pass up a chance to be a student. Milner is easily one of the best at Eastern B. school. The class is only mandatory if you want to learn.
I failed to notice that Dr. Milner states in his syllabus that he only updates your grade at the end of the semester. I loved the feedback I got on my 8 discussion posts and one final essay. I managed to get an A but boy I was stressed! Do the work and it's easy A! Taking MGMT 480W online was the best idea! Take him if you can!
Really enjoyed being in this online class. There's only 8 discussions spread out over the semester that you have a month to do on each, and then instead of a final you have a research paper. Really great professor. Allows you to speak your mind and give your opinions in each discussion.
Easiest class I have ever taken. I took this class online, 50% of the grade was based off of 8 online threaded discussions that as long as you participate you get full credit and 50% was based off of a final essay that is pretty straight forward. Only negative is that I don't think I learned anything. All the information I needed was common sense.
A great instructor. Good course content. Helpful feedback.
If you want an easy A, this is the class to take. If you want to learn something, have constructive feedback, or an involved learning experience, look elsewhere. Though essays receive "feedback" comments, I am almost certain that he cuts and pastes the same feedback comments onto all papers. Pretty much covers the same material as LEAD 201 and 301.
Prof. Milner, Is an excellent teacher (MGMT 450 LEADERSHIP & 480W). You have to READ textbook, quizzes are essay & multiple choice, papers to write & cumulative final exam. His syllabus is clearly defined, he follows it & slow grader. I graduate 12/16/17 and I am glad I took this class as one of the final classes because he is an AWESOME teacher.
This class was very clearly defined and the assigned were as well. You have plenty of freedom to be able to discuss your own opinions and thoughts. The feedback provided is excellent and tailored to what you said. Good class, one of the few great online professors
There are 9 discussion boards throughout the semester that take about an hour each. They are mostly opinion based and as long as you put in effort and comment on two other posts you get full credit. No exams, there is a final essay that is only open for a few days at the end of the semester.
Milner was very organized with this course, releasing 3 sets of discussions over a good period of time. The topics for the discussions were relevant to current events and all he asked for was an opinion with evidence. Very easy and fun class if you like to express your opinion. A little slow at grading.
Only 8 discussion boards and a final paper for this class. Final paper is worth half of your grade, and he only gave us 5 days to complete it. Very slow at grading, but he makes that clear in the beginning of the course. Not sure how much I actually learned from this course, but the discussion board were very interesting and engaging, rare!
Only 8 discussion boards & a final project that was 4 essays to write (not bad at all) that were questions similar to some of the discussions. The discussions were actually interesting and a lot of them asked for your opinion, so very easy to write about and engage with. I feel like I just learned a better appreciation for business ethics.
This professor and class is totally worth it. There are few assignments but extremely easy to get good grades. I ended the class with a 100%, and I have never even been close to that before. Professor Milner makes sure that you are learning the material and grades you on your attempt as opposed to how correct you interrupted it. Also gives feedback
Very easy class. 8 discussions and a 4 page paper as the final. Information taught is super helpful and will apply towards your future career. Book is necessary- I found mine online for under $15 dollars.
Professor Milner is a gem! He organizes and schedules projects in a way that allows you to gather the all of the knowledge and material you'll need, well in advance of the due date. He guides you and gives great feedback. Very patient and kind. Not demeaning, at all. I gained confidence from this instructor. Awesome!
He is a great professor. We had 8 total discussions on many Business ethics-related subjects. You must respond to 2 other students. The Final is a paper that consists of 2 personal class experiences essays like DB and 2 essays related to simpler to DB questions. I got 100 on everything. He gives good feedback on your assignments
I love classes like this - 8 total discussion boards that are opinion based, only need to respond to two people. Final is fairly simple, just a longer version of the discussion boards. Totally seld paced and it is stated from day 1, would recommend 100%
Class is all discussions and one final paper. This class is easy to balance with other classes. Not a very demanding course.
8 to 9 discussion assignments for the semester which are easy, and that is your only homework you have for that class. Final exam was also easy, you can get an A+ in this class.
I loved professor Milner!! Super nice guy, and was really caring about how everyone did. He was very honest and open about expectations. Only thing I would strongly recommend is buying the book BEFORE class starts, its super hard to find and you do actually use it for homework, like you actually can't do HW without it. Take my advice!
Professor Milner is a great professor. We usually start off in groups talking about what's going on in the REAL world. We talk a lot, but you don't have to if you don't want to. The book is mandatory bc you have assignments from it. Grades come from in class discussions every other week and question sets on the other weeks. Definitely Recommend!
Prof Milner is a good online ethics professor to choose. The course consists of 9 DQs (50%) and 1 final essay (50%). However, he does not grade fast at all, so that is very frustrating. The course requirements are straightforward and the textbook is pretty interesting. If you explain your discussions and understanding, you will pass.
