The guy is nerdy and his lectures are boring. His tests are easy and he gives some good opportunities for extra credit. One thing though.....I got an 89.6% in his class and the ****er gave me a B.
Beyond easy class, you don't even really need to buy the book, except for the homework which is also super easy and worth very few points. If you can't pass this class there is something wrong with you.
Mr. B is very helpful, his class is extremely easy, I got 110% without doing more than an hour of studying and homework a week combined. He is always available to help before and after class, kinda nerdy but has a dry sense of humor that grows on you.
He's has the greatest goofball sense of humor, and he's a nice guy. The class is super easy to pass as long as you do the homework and vaguely know the concepts.
Do yourself a favor and take this class.
Overall easy class. As long as you do the HW and do descent on the quizzes its one of the easiest A's u can ask for.
Great teacher overall. Just keep up w/all the quizes and homework though.
This guy is awesome. His class has got to be one of the most enjoyable classes ever. Lecture quizzes are fairly easy and as long as you study briefly you'll recieve more than a passing grade. His goofy yet serious character really grows on you. He is very knowledgeable. A definite must!!!
Mr. B is a cool teacher who grows on you throughout the semester. Indeed, he is a dork, but a funny one at that. His class is pretty easy. I'd disagree with it being the "easiest class ever" though. I have 7 A's and one B, this class being my first B. I got an 85.4%. Easy, but don't get cocky.
easy teacher gives the answers to the test if you pay attention you will get an a
Prof Barembaum is one of the best teachers ive ever had. they are very easy classes, all you have to do is pay attention. if you do, you will pass the quizzes and tests. tests and quizzes come directly from notes
Just be able to bare his corny jokes and you'll get an A.
count how many times he says "questions?"
worst teacher and lass i have ever taken in my life. AVoid at all costs!!!
easiest A i've ever gotten, just listen.
easiest class ever.

B-bomb is awesome...Class is easy... I slept through most of it and left early.. Pulled off a B. Tests are easy. read the chapters, questions are right out of book. Homework is just long but only every once in a while. He is a fabulous teacher and he is funny. Makes class interesting. Buy the Astronomy guides in bookstore, everything on there is on the final!
Very nice and kind of dorky teacher but if you pay attention and go to the class then it's an easy A
Great guy his class can seem a little long at times but its still interesting and he teaches well. His test, quizes and homework are very easy.
the labs are hard unless you have someone in your group who knows what they are doing. Even taking notes, i still had a hard time. you don't have to buy a book which is good but i'd like to have some kind of step-by-step instruction
Easiest class every! I didn't even study for the first test and got over 100% because he curved it. The best way to get your science requirment over with. The lab is not bad either, just some easy math calculations.

Cake walk. take notes, review them, take the tests - good to go. Oh and watch out for that Hydrogen Dioxide! Lame jokes, but I'll take those any day for an easy A.
Great guy. He certainly knows his stuff and makes it interesting. He talks about star trek from time to time and I find that fitting. I would love to have him as a father. He is so witty, charming and suave. A bit of a lady killer so if you can get past his great looks and personality you will also learn SO MUCH from him.
T3h Man!
made something as boring as science fun. :)
boring, yet easy. he's kind of a geek, but it's fun watching him get all excited over hydrostatic equilibrium. nice guy, always helpful. don't miss too many quizes!
Easy and fun. Makes you laugh with really retarded jokes. Dont miss the quizzes and you should ace it
Astronomy sucks, dont take it unless you really are interested in it. This class is so boring and uncaptivating. He is not as easy as one would think.
okay so if u dont go to class its okay because he posts the notes online. Save your notes and review sheets. He drops the lowest midterm. The final is super easy. Hes a good teacher. There are weekly easy quizzes based on the notes OMG SO EASY THOUGH WOOWOWOWO
Nice guy. he tries to scare you on the first day making it seem like the class is tough and he is strict, giving rules and all. but after the first class he doesn't act like that. he is clear in explaning. can be funny at times. the lowest midterm of 2 is dropped and just make sure to study the notes. the quizzes can be a little tricky sometimes.
SO BORING. Lots of busy work.
Such an easy class. Quizzes every Wednesday. Lectures are kind of boring, and the test is the lecture basically. I never once opened the book except to do homework. Only 3 homework assignments which are simple. Honestly, if you just pay attention you will get atleast a B.
I've taken both lecture classes and the lab-wonderful teacher. The labs are easy and fun. Doesnt usually take the whole class period. Patient and underdstanding. His attempts to be funny arnt always heard by the class, but overall just a good guy. Lecture classes are easy A's as long as you study for the quizes and test. Studyguides are key!
Great teacher who loves what he does. Take notes, DO THE HOMEWORK. If you do the assignments in their entirety, the tests will be monumentally easier.
he is an all around easy teacher, but u have to do the work.. the quizzes are easy, just study a little bit before each quiz. tests are mult choice, a few essay questions. if ur late on wednesdays you will miss the quiz. drops the lowest test score too. nice guy.
he is harder then everybody says. There is a lot of material covered in the class over the semester and the final is cumalitive. You need to study if you want a decent grade. I studied a lot and there was still things I saw on his test that I never saw in the notes or heard in lecture. And do not rely on his study guide!
I took both 109 and 110 and he has a quiz once a week. they're easy as long as you review the notes before class or make sure you understand what his main ideas are during lecture. he has multiple choice tests and a couple open ended questions. fair grader.. lets see, i enjoyed the class he's passionate about astronomy.
took his lab class, absolutely horrible, the kind of class you dread going to. Labs were hard and his instructions were very UNCLEAR. he is very lazy when it comes to teaching, some labs litteraly take 2 hours, most people are confused and when you ask him for help, his answers are ambiguous. he is weird also. I got a B.
The labs were pretty confusing and seemed pointless..pretty hard class for me and i dreaded the class too. you also have to take a trip to the santa ana college for one lab. DONT miss a single class, because your grade will drop A LOT as there are no make-up labs(i missed only one class went from a high A to a low B)
Took his lecture class, great guy easy class. The LAB class is totally different.First off labs are hard and make no sense unless you are an astronomer. His directions are confusing and he doesnt explain very well. Everyone was confused with the labs. I HATED THE CLASS. be in a group who knows what they are doing. unhelpful when you have a question
The lab class is very frustrating. no homework, everything is done in class, no studying required its a one unit class. some labs are easy and take 20 minutes, but others are hard and take 2 and a half hours, especially towards the end of the semester. he's a nice guy but kinda strange. he makes weird noises. I got a B because I was in a smart group
He's cool he's just into Astronomy! What else can you say! Show up, do the labs and get in good group and you'll be fine. The guy will help you out if you get stuck and group work is encouraged so help each other out! 85% of the grade is a based on the labs you turn in so do all of them and you won't have to stress on the final.
The lab was relatively simple. The main problem is that he gives a final at the end, unlike Martino. This took my grade down from an A to a B. As a teacher though, he is very helpful.
Im in his astronomy class. He lectures every night and takes roll after the break ( night time class) there is a quiz at the begining of every class which you can't take if you are late. There are no make ups on anything at all. It really isn't hard just read your notes and book. He is pretty nice and tries to be funny to liven class up.
I took his astronomy 109 class. It's really not that hard as everyone makes it seem. there's no math. just notes. a quiz a week. sometimes he skips them, or does video notes instead. quizzes have 5 questions on them (multiple choice) 3 tests, 3 h.w assignments. lectures well, goes over a lot of material, which is good! He was a good teacher.
alright teacher.gotta be there every class(sign in sheet) he'll comment on being late but wont do anything. he has a 10 pt quiz one a week, if your late a min u cant take it. only 2 test and a comm final. over all show up ull be good.powerpoints, study guides. hmk due on tests only 3 assignments.
I'm currently taking astromony 110 & it's easy to do well in his class. He provides notes on Blackboard every week, you just have to print them & listen to his lectures in class. He is a very good teacher & makes astronomy interesting. He has a sense of humor & does make the class laugh from time to time. If you study, you'll do just fine.
He's a pretty nice guy but I found his lectures to be pretty boring. He does try to help out if you don't understand a subject. Quizzes every week but the class is mostly dependent on the three tests given. He drops the lowest (not including the final). Just make sure to study the lecture notes he posts online. Jot down any information he repeats.
Morrie makes astronomy fun! He drops the lowest test and puts all the notes online, my only complaint is that the quizzes are tricky. His tests are far more straight forward than his quizzes.
Extremely easy class, but EXTREMELY boring. I didn't even buy the book and did just fine, but don't expect this class to be interesting at all.
BORING! This class is more of a physics class then it is astronomy. He gets grumpy a lot but he's alright. I got a 69.8% though and he refused to give me the C. I have problems with my immune system and get sick easy and he doesn't work with you. I missed it by 2 POINTS. Just do ALL of the extra credit.
The tests are not difficult if you study, but you have to cling to every point because so few points are available in the class, gives "pop quizzes" I had an A but got "nickel and dimed" on quizzes and ended up with a B. Overall good teacher.
Easy, Quizs you have to not even study for just look at notes before you take the quiz. Tests are all the quizes and 3 or 4 short questions which are easy. His lab is EXTREMELY EASY did have to go for a Month cause there was no class so TAKE HIS LAB AND HIS CLASS! I am not great in Science and i got an A in his Lab and a C in his Class :)
The labs were fairly easy, if you worked with a partner. Explained the material well, however occasionally he was a bit confusing. Overall, not to bad.
easy class. no need for books. just a pencil really. he will probably provide the paper. awesome class. kinda boring actually. great teacher. also had him for astr 110. very knowledgeable, just has a boring personality. he tries to be funny sometimes... at least he tries. but very chill teacher never the less.
The teacher is very good at explaining concepts, he is very torough and he asks if anyone has questions before he moves on. I find the class very interesting if you like science and Astronomy otherwise it may be boring, but for me, i didnt want class to end, he is very funny, he tells you from the beginning how he wants his class to be that is fair
LOVE Mr. B! He's so awkwardly funny. I love his personality. Asside from that, I really like how he simplifies everything for you and answers your questions with clairity. His tests are simple if you pay attention. Great teacher!
Barembaum isn't a particularly good teacher at the college level. His class was reminiscent of high school, not only in the lecture, but in the work load. It wasn't particularly hard, I recommend it for a GPA buffer.
Amazing Astronomy Prof! I really enjoyed his class this semester. He made Astronomy completely interesting and easy to digest. His exams and quizzes were extremely coherent with the notes. He's not the type that will try to trick you. He's quite fair. I highly recommend him.
Great course to take if you need a science class. Barembaum was a nice, funny teacher and really seemed to enjoy what he was teaching. Easy A if you do the homework and study for the tests. Overall a pretty easy, fun class.
2 midterm tests, & final. drops lowest grade on one of the midterm. he is straight forward. quizes every week, 5 questions, 2pts each, multiple choice. show up take notes, do the 3 hw assigments, you'll at least get a solid B. & dont buy the workbook!
He is amazing! He is funny & really tries hard to help you get the grade you want. His tests/quizzes are exactly what he puts in the notes & he will even show you what will be on them. Plus, he drops the worst test. He really cares about his students. I wanted to learn more after his class because he made it so interesting! Great class to take!
Morrie is such a character. He comes across as rude and intimidating but he is a very sweet man and will help you with any questions you may have. Responds to emails fast. Not an easy subject but there are a lot of points in the class so you can make up for poor test scores with weekly quizzes hw etc. VERY CLEAR! Pay attention to lectures!
Definitely a fair teacher. He's really nerdy and does come across as rude sometimes but he tries his best to make his lectures interesting. It's very possible to get an A if you never miss class and study a little bit. Just a warning, his class is reminiscent of HS.
Barembaum is definetly a good teacher. He presents the notes clearly, and post them up on blackboard so you can just print them out. His study guides help, and he is sarcastically funny. Overall a very good experiance. I highly recommend.
This was my first class going back to school after 10 years. I couldn't have asked for a better to class to get my back into things. His class is fairly easy, he drops the lowest quiz and midterm and offers extra credit. I had 102% going into the final, so I ended with a A of course. Notes are on blackboard and study guides are really helpful.
Took him for Intro to Stars & Galaxies. Very funny, engaging, you can tell he really cares about students and he's passionate about astronomy. It's not a subject I care for usually but he made it interesting. Drops the lowest quiz/test score. Tests are very straight-forward, and he has weekly quizzes which are an easy 10 points each if you study.
His lecture is very interesting and he slips in some relevant humor. He comes across in the start as extremely strict and a little annoyed. My advice is if you have questions or concerns, it is best to approach him personally by appointment. He is very accommodating and willing to help if you act professional show him the respect he deserves.
love this guy. hes one of the only profs you can mess with. very nice guy and explains everything extremely well and will answer all questions. very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. tests are curved and he does NOT round grades
He is awesome! Made the class really enjoyable. Funny and quirky. He tests directly off of his lectures so pay attention to that material. He also drops your lowest test score and quiz score.
AMAZING teacher. Is willing to put the effort forth to help you understand. Book only needed for HW Q's and he puts those up online anyways. Take notes on the powerpoint and what he says, reread those, and you will do great. I'm sad I've run out of classes to take with him.
typical nerdy astro-physics guy. I took the 7:15pm-10:25pm Wednesday class and we only once actually stayed until the end. Good teacher, I enjoyed the class. It's easy if you print out his powerpoint notes and just follow along in class while noting the important parts. Book is only needed for the homework assignments (only 3)
He is pretty cool and funny. This class is way more difficult than I thought it was going to be and its hard to study for tests since everything is so broad.Kind of confusing on what exactly you need to know.Do HW in the library and dont buy the book. The final is 65% questions from the last unit-planets. He is cool, this class wasn't for me though.
Really cool professor. I'm not really a science person, but he made astronomy interesting. He is really funny and always willing to help.
He makes it hard to appreciate astronomy. i am interested in the subject matter, however he doesn't seem invested or passionate about what he is teaching, so as a result it is difficult for the student to be fully invested as well. his explanations are also convoluted. possible to attain good grades from copying notes, but insufficient teaching.
Mr. B is a great teacher but his tests are tough. It's a lot of information to remember. If you start studying a good 3 weeks before the test you can pass. Otherwise don't plan on passing any of his tests. He gives a study guide, which is useless! They don't help whatsoever. You're better off making your own study guide and studying from that.
Barembaum was ok he is really into what he teaches but requires you to catch on right away and know all the info for his tests which are extremely long. Offers ONE extra credit assignment and his curve doesn't help at all. Grades tough Wouldn't take unless you already have a good knowledge of this science already and are willing to put time into it
Mr. B is a great professor! He makes astronomy very fun and interesting. Quizzes every week, but they will help you a lot for midterms. Exams are not hard if you study, but if you don't study, you'll probably won't do good.
Do the homework packers. Do the study guides and you'll be fine. Only criticism is that when you ask him questions he doesn't give you specific answers he just gives you answers related to what youre asking which doesnt help at all
For some reason, I just can't seem to get an A on any of his tests, and it is so infuriating! I study, read the books, and even record his lectures to no avail. You really need to keep your study habits with you if you want to get an A or even a B in the class. Maybe I'm having a hard time because science is just not my forte. But the prof is cool
Not the best at lecturing, not motivating. The lectures drag; more material could be presented.
This is by far the worst class I have EVER taken. The lectures are dry the professor is completely monotone and uninteresting. I wouldn't retake this class if you PAID me. The tests are way more complex than anything given in lectures. I suggest taking this class at SAC where professors are better or avoid completely and take earth science.
Astronomy is a very interesting subject for me, Mr. B is very knowledgeable and seems to be stoked about space. He can however, be very dry and rude. Do not walk into class late, and if you have to, EMAIL HIM ABOUT IT BEFOREHAND or he will point you out to the class. His tests are tough and really require that you know the material.
Great communicator, great feedback! Lively and interesting.
Mr. B is a good professor. He tries hard to help students understand and answers questions . His funny jokes make class more interesting! Answers emails fast! Really into space stuff. Goes over tests & quizzes to make sure you know the answers. Definitely need to be in class and show up on time! He's kinda like a parent. Need book for homework.
He always wore fancy Astronomy tee's which will surely brighten you day. His enthusiasm with space is unmatched and giving you his full undivided attention during lectures really seals the deal. Very personable and easy to get along with. I would take his class again.
He was amazing. Everything about the class was very organized. He gave us all the lecture notes at the beginning of class. That made it very easy for me to follow along and pay attention. He does take attendance, but that is the extent of participation. No homework. Only lecture and tests
Mr. B is an AMAZING professor. He has a unique sense of humor but I loved it and it really made the class more interesting and fun. This is the easiest A. Weekly quiz on previous week's info - if you make flashcards you'll ace this class. Gives extra credit and drops lowest quiz and test scores. I got a 98% without much work put in. Lovedthisclass!
Took him for my lab class and it was the best decision. I always struggled with labs in high school and was dreading this class, but he makes it very easy to get an A! Work with a partner. He's always willing to answer any questions, too. Has a nice personality and is funny which always makes it better
NOT an easy A. Weekly quizzes& exams are based mostly on lecture notes& some things he hasn't covered. You really need to put work into this class to get a good grade. Drops the lowest exam score(not including the final),curves each exam, has 1 extra credit assignment& monthly homework due before each exam. well structured&canceled class often.
(1/2) Quizlet is your friend. I took this during intersession, so the class was definitely fast-paced. Make sure you take meticulous notes and pay attention during lectures. Using these notes, transfer them to a Quizlet and study them for the quizzes and tests. He drops one test and quiz and has one extra credit. Astronomy isn't a subject that..
I think it's the best when a teacher has passion for their subject and Barembaum really does. He is a fantastic teacher. There are weekly 5 question quizzes (which are easy). The subject is extremely interesting if you are at all into astronomy. I'm actually contemplating changing my major now because of how much I loved that class.
Passionate, caring, and serious. Take notes, show up to class, and don't be late. I really enjoyed this class but showed up couple min. late once and he wouldn't let me take the weekly quiz. Deadlines are very serious. Recommend his 110Stars&Galax Class since more universities prefer it, and goes along w/the lab better. A lot of goofy dad jokes.
Pretty good class. Quizzes every week, 5 questions, not too bad. Exams are not that hard, just study notes from lecture. Powerpoint's are put on Blackboard. Make sure to review the last test of the semester, it is all of the previous tests put into one, it was the easiest exam. Go to his office hour before and review your previous tests.
Barembaum has copious amounts of knowledge for this subject however he was usually condescending and rude when he responded to questions. I remember asking something and he sarcastically made a joke to make me feel stupid and I snapped at him a bit. Really irritating when you feel like you can't ask a question in fear of the prof. humiliating you!
His class was not very difficult. However, if you want the A then you definitely need to take good notes during lectures and study for the tests. There are two exams and the final. He drops the lowest exam score but the final is worth 37% of your grade. They aren't super hard if you study for them. Also, he gives quizzes every week.
This class so really easy. If you want the A just work for it and you'll get it. DO NOT BUY THE BOOKS. We didn't use any of the books that he told us to buy. Just study off the powerpoint and if you can find a PDF of the textbook that'll help. The professor isn't bad, just a lot of bad jokes. Weekly quizzes, easy hw, lowest midterm gets dropped
Review your notes from the previous class meeting in order to answer questions he asks and fully partake in discussions. Notes are up tp you, he ensures you with the power points for every class to have with you (printed or electronically). Weekly quiz of 5 questions can ding your grade if missed. Very witty and humorous, it makes class fun.
Nice guy, tried to be entertaining but the class was half asleep most of the time. Don't get the workbook, we only used it twice and it was not graded. I didn't like the way he worded his test questions as I feel they are meant to confuse. He gives one extra credit opp and it really helped me. Easy and non-frequent homework assignments.
Found him a bit boring but overall was an easy class
A real nice fella, makes lots of dad jokes and genuinely seems to enjoy teaching the next generation about things he loves. Good at simplifying complex things through examples on a white board. His class for the most part is easy to follow and pass.
The lab course with Prof Barembaum is quite easy. He explains the labs in the beginning of class and then you do it. Labs don't take long; never stayed until 4:30. Great professor and you can tell how into the topics he is. :)
Mr. B is a great professor. He goes in depth and does a great job during the lectures to keep everyone engaged. Over the course of the Covid-19 epidemic he has communicated very well with our class. He stayed online for students to tune in with any questions after the virtual lecture. If you like learning through lectures I highly recommend Mr. B.
Mr. B was the best! Astro is harder than it seems, but Mr B made sure to make every lecture engaging and fun! One of my favorite teachers I have ever had. Make sure to study a LOT. You will need at least the workbook, but I recommend getting the textbook too. It helped me a lot. Mr. B is probably the best option if you plan to take astronomy
His class is to easy, but I wouldnt take again. Tbh he was very boring and felt like all he ever talked about was the same thing. Plus the quizzes every class was just tedious. Really would recommend going to a different astronomy teacher definitely wouldnt recommend him.
Pretty cool guy, he's passionate about astronomy and physics and it shows. He's knowledgeable in the subjects as well. It can be a bit boring at times through no fault of his own, it's just not the most interesting subject. But regardless of that it was an enjoyable class and not too hard if you listen, study and put the work in.
Hes a really good proff! If you study you can pass with an A, he lets you drop one of two midterms and one quiz. Exams arent very hard - everything on the notes, as long as you attend lectures YOURE set. Dont get a book!! No need for it. Mr B is very understanding, he cares for his students, and you can see hes passionate for what he does.
Had him for a zoom class, very patient and cares for his students. The lectures contains a lot of info but as long as you use your notes youre good. He offers extra credit and doesnt provide a lot of homework. wish more professors were like him. Highly recommend taking his class!
Lab is incredibly easy. Just follow along with his lecture and there will be no issues. Classes always end early and Professor is clear and concise.
Took intercession and hardest class I've taken. I watched lectures over every night because there is a 5 question quiz everyday- exam each week. Not a lot of homework but the textbook was useful for it. Has 1 extra credit assignment worth 10 points max, which helped me. For a GE class, it was very difficult- too complex. I would not recommend.
Professor took the time/effort to deeply explain all concepts! Weekly 5-question quizzes, two 50-question exams, and one 100-question final. Take notes, listen to lectures, read the book! Extra credit (10 points), lowest of the first two exams taken off, and one of the lowest quizzes. He's truly a caring professor who wants to help you. Great class
SUCH AN AMAZING PROF. It is quite a bit of work though. Only 2 tests and the final, he drops the lowest test score. Gives weekly quizzes (5 questions, multiple choice) but he lets you ask any questions before. Make sure to WRITE NOTES! He has an office hour and is just such a kind and funny person.
You can tell hes passionate about the subject, but he can be somewhat boring at times. He has PowerPoints for his lectures, but if you want to retain any of the useful information, take notes based off of what hes saying, and dont care so much about the PowerPoints. Also, quizzes every week, so be aware of that!
It is verg clear he is passionate on the subject, and is very understanding and willing to help you understand material.
PROs: Knowledgeable/Passionate. Goes into detail about what's on the power point slides. CONs: Quiz every week and long-winded lectures every day that don't cover everything in the quizzes/exams. When asked a question, seems to respond in a "Yeah, duh" sort of way. Witnessed it a few times and it stopped me from asking any questions.
Professor is passionate and helpful. The class has exams, quizzes, and a final - study regularly and you'll do well. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep!
moves really fast, dont recomend for students that nned extra time. he just talks the whole class nothing really for visual learners. If you are even 1 min late for the quiz you wont be allowed to take it.
