Take Him!! Best class of my college career.
You will learn a lot. Not easy but terrific teacher.
he's cool and easy. The best instructor in economic department
the test are not that hard
he is a good teacher, in his class u just bring ur powerpoint slides and take a note. u do not necessary buy a bood. He is funny and good teacher
dont buy the book. just listen in class and its an easy a
funny guy, good teacher, multiple choice test.
This class was very challenging, but Dr. Rahmatian was always there to answer your questions. He is a funny guy too.
This guy is funny. If you want to laugh, take him. Must attend class regularly to do well, but you don't need the book. Notes and powerpoint slides are all you need.
He makes every effort to let you understand the concepts. Only need to print out those powerpoint slides and take notes then it's an easy A. The class is easy yet you will really learn something. Highly recommend the professor.
He is a good teacher and wants his students to learn/pass. Lectures can be confusing but he is more than happy to help. Very funny. If you're like the norm the exams will be hard.
MORTEZA IS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. HE COULD BE A COMEDIAN. LECTURE GOES BY SO FAST AND THE COURSEWORK IS EXPLAINED VERY WELL. IF ONLY ALL PROFESSORS WERE LIKE HIM. YOU LEARN A LOT, AND ENJOY IT THE ENTIRE TIME.
Funny, but not that funny. I mean, the whole look-at-me-I'm-a-foreigner thing only goes so far. He's a very good instructor.
Dr Rahmatian is the ultimate academic. he cares for his students and goes that extra step. The lectures are funny and easy to understand. The powerpoint slides are essential but reading the text insures you the higher grade
Morteza is an awesome teacher. His tests can be difficult, but he does an excellent job teaching the information. Time FLIES by in his class.
He is a great professor. He makes effort to clarify your questions. His lecture is easy to understand. Yet, he makes learning fun!
Dr Rahmatian is a very good teacher. he knows the material very well and does an excellent job explaining it. he makes learning Econ fun.
Rahmatian is a really funny professor and he knows his sh**. definitely rec him to anyone.
TAKE this man he is funny witty, creative in dealing with a subject that is rather involved and complicated. Slap yourself if you dont take this teacher!
rahmatian is a cool cat. he makes me laugh. hahahah. but pay attention and print the ppt slides. he is always avail for o/h.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Difficult subject matter is clearly explained to students. Tests are challenging, but a very fair grader. Make sure you pay attention to his lectures. A great book. He is now chairmen of the econ dept.
Professor Rahmatian is a great teacher and you will learn and retain a lot. His classes are fun and he tells great stories. I would highly recommend this professor. Take him if you can!
He's funny and knows the information and teaches it well, but he goes pretty fast and he's pretty hard, so if you don't have that much time to work your ass off for your grade, forget it.
He is a great teacher, and funny too. He has mean joke sometime. He always help students to improve their grade by quiz. If you study and understand graphs, you will pass his quizes and test.
This guy is great. He isa wonderful person and a greater teacher. He is very approachable outside of the classroom and is always found with a smile and a joke ready for you when you enter his classroom.
One of the best professors I've had at CSUF. I highly recommend him.
Good lecturer; tests are difficult - you must read the text to pass the exams.. He likes to embarrass students in class. Overall, makes lectures interesting.
Make sure you study the material well because his exams are difficult, he's very funny and will help you if you come to his office hours, he knows how to make time pass by by telling lots of jokes, he may pick on you but overall is a good teacher.
Very outgoing and interesting individual, who does his best to keep your attention. Had him for 3 hours on monday, but he kept me interested the majority of the time. I got an A with a fair amount of study and doing the HW and some EC. Great Professor.
Mort is a great guy and now the Econ Department Chair. Anything he teaches i would recommend taking. Be careful he always finds someone at the start to the semester to pick on, if it's you feel free to joke and tease him back. Tests are easy if you like the subject. Wonderful Teacher and Great Man.
This Prof. rocks!!! He makes the material and the semester fun and interesting. Great sense of humor. His exams and quizes are fair. Pay attention during lecture, skim the book, talk in class and it will be a success.
Great personality, knowledgible about his subject, passionate about teaching, he has a dirty sense of humor if you like that, and he keeps the class going. I had him for 3 hours on Tuesday night, and amazingly I didn't fall asleep. Study for his test, come to class, read the text, and get and "A".
this guy suck! he's not funny, he's annoying. the subject is hard and he goes through it very fast. tests are very hard. 50% essay and 50% MC. you have to try real hard just to pass the class with a C.
Good teacher. Has a lot of knowledge and makes the class very interesting. You'll do fine when you understand the material. Means you should show up. Gives lots of exta credit. Final not comprehensive.
You gotta' love the Doc... Dr. Morteza is great! Go to every class, read the book before class, and do all the practice problems. DONE. That's really all it takes.
He's the funniest and best teacher at CSUF. He makes the course SUPER easy, the exams are easy, just remember whats on the powerpoint slides. People got bad grade but i think they didn't put any time. an easy A if you try a little. I got a B and didn't do crap. He's the head of Econ Dept. if u don't choose him. SLAP YOURSELF!!
Boring class. nice professor but tests are LOOOONG and pretty tricky. if u want to pass, study, read the book and do assignments. attendance is a must.
what a JOKE! He expect you to know everything about econ. before you take his class. He goes really fast and he add stupid comments along the way. his tests are hard and so are quizes and extra credit. Go to his web site and you'll see how many students failed his class last semester.
this is one of my worse teachers. hes very difficult and cconfusing to understand. goes off topic so basically u gota learn everything on ur own. tests are MC and very tricky. some of the answers look exactly the same so pretty much u gota guess in the end. papers are a killer on grades too.
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER HE IS VERY FUNNY AND LOVES TO MAKE FUN OF HIS STUDENTS SO IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE BEING LAUGHED AT DON'T TAKE HIM. OVERALL THIS CLASS WAS NOT DIFFICULT HE CURVES THE GRADES IN THE END A LOT, HE MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO FAIL AND HE IS VERY HELPFUL. HE IS AGAINST MARRIAGE AND KIDS FOR SOME REASON. IF YOU CAN TAKE HIM!!!!
Very funny and made the class enjoyable. Make sure you read the book, do the online book quizzes and study his powerpoints. If you do this you will be fine. I don't see why some people think he is unclear. He tells you what I told you and if you do it you will get an A. He does say the book is stupid and he does not like it, but you need it.
FUUUNNNNY! makes boring subject very interesting! A PLUS!
Econ is a hella boring subject- but Rahmatian made it awesome. He has a great sense of humor and made the semester fly by. He puts a personal touch on all of the material- making it easy to retain. If you study for exams- an easy A or B. I strongly rec. taking him at CSUF. and since he's the chair of the dept, good ref to have for letter of recs.
easy professor. comments lot of jokes in class. makes class fun. test are tricky but if you attend his class regularly and take good notes, you will be fine. make sure you read his powerpoint slides as most of the test is frm powerpoint and rest is problem solving, which he teaches ypu in classs.
This professor makes the class interesting. So, you would not be bored at all. However, he wants his students to learn and makes the exams pretty hard. Do your part and study because most of the simple things you'll learn would be used in your future job career.

Ah yes the Good Docta Morteza... This guy is the funniest business teacher I've had at Cal State. Hes always crackin jokes and will tell you when you give the wrong anwser. His stories are very entertaining and they all relate to Economics. He makes a tough subject seem easy and the semester will fly by. Exams are challenging but an A or B is doable as long as you go to class on a regular basis. He wants his students to do welland he will help you in any way he can. He is also head of the econ dept.
Interesting but I didn't do well on the tests.
He is a really good teacher. Very funny and makes fun of students. Econ is a boring subject, but he makes it fun. Most importantly, his grading scale was made to help students. My actual grade was a C, but with his adjustment, I got pushed up to a B. I know many others who should have gotten a D or F, but somehow passed w/ C.
This is the only prof. I have ever taken that has taken the time to teach me Economics. He really cares about students that care about the class. Take him if your dedicated. I got an F with Michaels and a B with morteza, why because Morteza actually teaches Economics. Take him, you wont regret it.
I got better grade than I expected. He is the best professor I had at CSUF. When you're are stressed, he helps and calm down you. He makes the difficult subgect to become easier. If you didn;t do well on exams, go to his office andhe'll show your mistakes. I would take him again for many times. If you want to pass the class and understand Economics
(Continues): If you want to pass the class and understand Economics, definitly take Dr. Rahmatian. He is interesting and likes to tell funny stories.
he is the best!
His tests were hard, and he tried to answer questions, but went around them...he seems preoccupied with other more important things than teaching.
Definitely agree with those previous comments. This class is not easy, however, if you realy want to learn econ, than take his class because he is the best. An 1:15 class goes by fast. You will never get bored when you are in his class. There are three exams (30% each), some quizzes (10%). And he does offer extra credits.
He is the worst teacher. He's very hard to understnad. He is not clear. He doesn't explain well. He also doen't provide the direct answers to the questions
He isn't a good teacher. He waists most of the class time discussing his personal stories. He is a hard grader. He's happy when he fails his students
He makes the class fun and is funny himself BUT when it comes to his tests and quizzes, he is very tricky and makes them very very hard- includes concepts completly different than what he says are going to be on tests. You either have to really enjoy econ or study extra extra hard to get a ligit grade.
He's a funny guy, you'll laugh a lot in this class, but probably won't learn anything. He is the department chair, and really wants to see his students succeed, but with the pace of his lectures, there's no way you can keep up. I had fun, but didn't pass. Got a D. Exams are SUPER hard, as well as the quizzes.
I absolutely loved his class. It was like being at comedy central every monday night. However, it is a hard class because econ is very hard. I think that he does a great job in keeping you interested. And his personal stories are classic. To sum it all up he's funny and cool but it is still a hard class. Thank god I passed!!
I REALLY LIKE THIS PROFESSOR BECAUSE HE MADE ECON INTERESTING. HE'S NOT ONE OF THOSE PROFESSORS WHO JUST COME TO WORK LECTURE AND DON'T CARE IF YOU GOT IT OR NOT, HE ACTUALLY WANTS YOU TO LEARN. AND NO HE DOESN'T GIVE FREE GRADES....YOU GOT TO EARN AN A
Very good sense of humor. Exams are not very hard, only the Final Exam is extra difficult. He doesn't announce quizes, so you have to keep up with reading, which then helps a lot on exams. Take him, he is the best professor!!
Great professor, easy going 2 exams and one final. he explains often so that you will understand. he is definitely funny. YOu GOT TO EARN YOUR GRADE, curve at 85% for an A
He's one of the best teachers that I've had so far. All of his exams are easy if you do the homework set and study from the power point slides that he posted on his website. No need to buy the book. You don't need it. He keeps the lectures interesting and he wanted you to learn, and I did learn a lot from his class. SHOULD TAKE HIM!

Great professor but more importantly a great person. He is a prime example of what a professor should be. The subject matter is difficult, but it's his teaching style that makes you want to learn the material. He makes class fun. Hopefully he will be back next semester as our time with him was cut short due to his medical problems. GET WELL!!!!!!!!
One of the best professors! Lectures are humor, clear, and interesting. He is very helpful if you have any difficulties. Attend classes on time, do the homeworks, and take good notes will guarantee you a good grade.
I do not like economics at all, but this teacher made it so interesting and fun to learn. He was very clear about the concepts and what you are to learn. Hes so funny. Definitely the best teacher Ive ever had at CSUF!!!! Do his homework problems, they really help on the tests.
Dr. Rahmatian is a great guy overall, the class is extremely difficult. I did not pass this semester, but it is because he uses a lot of calculus in the class, if u dont know calc that well, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! His lectures are great, he is great, but once again, the class is just freakin hard!
Dr. Rahmatian is a great guy overall, the class is extremely difficult. I did not pass this semester, but it is because he uses a lot of calculus in the class, if u dont know calc that well, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! His lectures are great, he is great, but once again, the class is just freakin hard!
great guy and a great teacher...true he does use calculus but if you come to the lectures he shows you how to do the problems...i didn't know how to do calculus probs but i was able to learn from him...if you want to pass econ take him...but only if you are going to show up to all the lectures (that is the key to passing)
One of the best professors. He can teach anything bc he knows how to communicate! Makes class fun. Have to go to every class tho, bc his tests have questions DIRECT from lecture examples. Take him, you will never forget this class!!
He's a very good professor w/ good sense of humor. He teaches very well and tests were exactly from lecture and sample problems. He said that he would curve the final score but based on my final grade and test grades, i dont think he curves my grade at all.
Very Very Very Very Funny guy. No need book just powerpoints and go to all his class meeting. I got a C in the class however learn ALOT.
Funny and outgoing. Organized and refers to PowerPoints and board work. Go to class to get the grade. A lot of extra credit opportunities. Very dedicated and clear. Creates a great learning environment and uses clear examples. I hate econ and yet I like it and LEARNED A LOT.
Probably the best teacher I have ever had at CSUF. Very funny and makes learning fun. More then happy to help you if you have any problems. Even if you hate econ you will love this class. In one word Amazing
Excellent professor. Does everything possible to help you pass the class. Extremely helpful throughout the whole semester and gives out multiple extra credits. Very funny guy. Strongly recommend you take him!
I wish he taught all my classes! I HATE econ and he made it fun. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you're on the fence for a passing grade, he takes it into consideration. I HIGHLY recommend this professor!!!
FUNNY the material is very hard to understand you need to pay attention and study hard to pass. He is very funny and enjoyable to go to class
Not a great teacher lots of sarcasm. tests are hard will do well if you memorize how to do the math problems in his homework and review PowerPoint if your struggling buy the study guide it helps clear up his confusing lectures.
People who took this class and thought this course was difficult clearly did not put forth any effort, if any at all. His tests are based on lecture and the text book. He offers many types of sample problems and even the answers to the questions in the book. He is funny and a fantastic professor
HARD class. He is funny but jokes get so old, he thinks very highly of himself. he does want you to pass so he is helpful the class is just very difficult. Lots of math involved. He doesn't take roll but go to class ESP after exam days, he likes to give pop quizes which are veryyyyy hard! Good luck!
this guy is funny. hes a great professor too. his tests are extremley fair and you are able to earn extra credit points very often if u go to class. i took this class before and failed. took it the second time with him and learned so much!
Prof Rahmatian is wonderful. I took before and failed. He honestly wants everyone to pass and do well. We makes sure that everyone's questions are answered. Test are challenging M.C, essay and short answer. But its all for his lecture. Awesome teacher, recommend to take him for sure!
Seriously.. one of the best professors at CSUF. Go to class and his office hours if you don't understand it and you will do well. He is very helpful and wants students to succeed. Take him if you get the chance! Tests are not hard if you do the work and ask questions.
He is a very intelligent professor but the class is really hard. I find Economics to be very challenging, but he seems to be very helpful and tries to make the class fun. There are a LOT of concepts to learn which made it overwhelming for me, but as a professor he did a great job teaching the subject. If you like econ take him.
Great professor. It was a huge class, but as long as you concentrate and try you will pass. Funny teacher, makes the material fun and worthwhile to learn. Take him, he's a good professor.
Awesome teacher!!!! Although it is not an easy class but he really tried to make the subject as easy as he could. He truly cares for his students and is great at what he does!
Awsome, awsome, awsome....One of the best professors at CSUF. Rahmatian Professor, you should have a training class for other professors, show them how to teach.
Top three, if not the best professor at CSUF. Do not graduate without taking this prof. Grasp the concepts and you will do very well. TAKE THIS CLASS!
I would recommend taking this teacher! He is very helpful and will make sure everyone understands the material, he will do his best to help everyone pass his class! Must take, super funny and keeps class entertaining.
He is super easy...and fun too. I took 515 and it was really easy. I would highly recommend him.
Morteza Rahmatian is THE BEST professor at CSUF. I agree with the other comments, he should have a course for all the others instructors so they can learn how to teach! He is an amazing teacher, and I urge everyone to take any of his classes.
Ridiculously difficult class. Hilarious man great command of a room and when he explains things u totally understand. However there's so many formulas and his tests are no joke so when u sit down infront of one u forget everything he taught u. I wouldn't take his class again but i'd love to sit down and have coffee with such an entertaining person.
Rahmatian is very entertaining and it helps with a boring subject such as Econ 315. This guy thinks he?s the funniest guy in the world. I thought his jokes about Asians were a little too inappropriate. Exams are a little hard. Go to class and take good notes.
I HATE econ, but I actually paid attention with this guy. Really helpful, great teacher, and is down to earth. Everything is great just a lot of info to study for. 3 Tests, 1 Final. Will drop lowest of the four tests so you might not have to take a final! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I'm not going to lie, class was hard, if you want to do well go to every class and pay attention. I recommend getting the textbook and really learning the examples given in class down cold. 3 exams, 1 final, he'll drop the lowest score so you might not even have to take the final. Cool teacher though, but it's no cake walk. "Slap yourself!"
I didn't have him as a teacher but he helped me get into a class to repeat after I failed it. He totally cares about students. Don't go to him without a joke or riddle in your pocket.
Best teacher ever! I wasn't interested in ECON but after taking his class I was thinking about changing the major to ECON. he is exetremely helpful and entertaining! Go visit him at his office hours. He will help you alot! A LOT!!! I enjoyed whole semester because of him. :)
He is a great Professor. If you want to learn and pass take him but you will have to study but not a hard class if you study at home and pay attention in class. He is very funny guy so you will pay attentin. & I loved ALLL his jokes.
His class is awesome! Not too hard but have to study. 3 exams and final. Do not have to take final if like your grade after the first 3 exams. No HW and 3 quizzes. Curve a lot at end of class. Highly recommend.
Great Proffesor I highly recommend him...Great sence of humor & very Smart!!!!
Great professor! I HATE Econ, but he made it interesting and easy to relate to. Funny sense of humor! Made lectures fun and interesting. Highly recommend!
By far the best teacher at CSUF and unfortunately I am not an Econ major. 3 exams, final (not needed if your first 3 exams are good scores), 3 quizzes (1 can drop) and 5% extra credit! AND HE ALSO CURVES! Got an A! I hated Econ until he taught it. Awesome class!
The best teacher ever!!!
THE BEST TEACHER at CSUF! He made the class very enjoyable!! His final is super hard so try to focus on the first 3 exams ( you don't have to take the final)! TAKE HIM!!
The ideal economics professor- a good sense of humor, clear, doesn't make things any harder than they need to be. Quick to post grades. 4 exams- can drop one (I dropped the final-cumulative). Only 3 quizzes- drops the lowest. It's an enjoyable class.
Have him for summer. Exams r way 2 long for 11/2 hours. Use material not covered in book!Pre-exam review is useless; he covers every detail. Pace is too fast.
Also, do not believe him when he says that certain questions won't be on the exam. Includes extra difficult concepts, graphs, and notes that are not in the book! You have to read the book and his notes to understand everything, and to be an Econ guru to pass his class.
The best professor ever. You should definitely take him!
He is the best professor I'v ever had. I highly recommend him.
Must go to class. Pay attention every day. Take notes. I hated this subject, but he made it very interesting, so its easy to pay attention with this guy. He's also really funny. Never volunteer to answer a question, unless you want to get made fun and ever tell him your real name if its longer than four letters.
Morteza's class is simply the best..Summer class is always intense, you can't expect it to be easy.. Don't blame it to the teacher, you just need to work harder for shorter period of time. Study in group if you have difficulty in class.
Best professor at CSUF! I definitely recommend taking him.
In deed great class and great professor. Not bad for the summer session since there are no projects nor other complications, just 3 exams and that's it.
Always encourages students to read/explore/learn about the subject beyond what is written in the curriculum. He is a wonderful professor, funny and I recommend him to all CSUF business students.
As a grad student, he is the best professor I have ever had in my entire academic career. He truly enjoys what he does and it shows. He is extremely helpful when you go to his office hours so if you are struggling, like I was, he will help you and is happy to do so.
Smart guy. Knows his stuff, but tries too hard to be funny all the time. If he spent more time on material students would do better. Mummery is a much better choice for Econ315.
like other ppl said, he's good. help u earn a good grade. he knows this class isnt rly fun, but he tries to make fun with ppl. good professor
Very helpful..take advantage of his office hours..3 test, 3 quiz, i-clicker and a final. Drops one test and quiz...gives students the option to either take the final or not take it at all...I ended up getting a B in the class...His final is pretty hard, even though he claims that its going to be the easiest.
this professor is by the far the funniest professor ive had he has 3 exams 1 final drops the lowest exam and quiz follow his assigned hws some questions are similar he explains everything like its a piece of cake even though the material is hard to understand just remember MR=MC pretty much do his homework study his notes and you'll be fine its not
"Slap yourself!" Morteza is a funny guy, or at least tries his best. He drops the lowest of your exam and quiz scores, so if you do well on the first 3 exams, you don't have to take the final. Attendance isn't required, but I recommend it for the mathematical problems early in the semester. Look forward to taking another econ class with him.
i thought this was a challenging course. i learned that its best to print out the powerpoints and write down everything he says and writes on the board. i did that and did a decent job on the tests. the quizzes were kinda hard but helpful for exams. its important to show up because the extra credit can save you at the end.
This guy is hilarious...super nice guy and very funny. I actually looked forward to attending his class because he makes a very boring subject interesting and fun. He has a "slap" policy lol if you make off-the-wall comments in class. Exams are fair as long as you read the book and follow the pp slides. I definitely recommend taking him.
He is the MAN! Enough said
Highly recommend. Morteza is very enthusiastic, knows his trade, and tries his best to make the subject matter interesting. His jokes and cracks may stroke his victims the wrong way, just pay attention and stay out of his crosshairs to spare yourself humiliation. No projects, presentations, etc. 3 exams and quizes, lowest score is dropped.
Morteza ROOOOOCKS. He is one of the instructors that I will remember for ever. Morteza is fare, passionate about the subject and truely care about his student's success. I learned so much in his class. Test are from the material he covers in class so as long as you study, you will get a good grade. Definitely recommend taking him...SLAP
Best professor ever. 4 exam you have the option to taking 3 of them! 2 or 3 randomly easy quizzes. up to 5% extra credit. but don't miss the classes.. you may not get the whole extra credit or u may miss a quiz!
3 midterms 1 optional final, drops lowest exam. 3 quizzes with few extra credit added on as percentages at end of semester to overall grade. He has a website online with past exams and quizzes to review from and if you plan to take him in the future you can get these now and use them later
Morteza is the best you'll find. Always keeps you listening. A+ for Morteza.
3 midterms and 1 final (drops lowest midterm) extra credit is added on as percentages. he will help you if you go to him and ask questions. he is a great professor and one of the best ive had at CSUF so far in the econ departments
VERY GOOD PROFESSOR,GOOD CLASS. not so difficult to obtain good grade if study
Dr. Rahmatian is hands down the best professor. He is HILARIOUS and extremely helpful. He genuinely cares about students. Highly recommend taking him. I wish I could take him for every class!
I love this prof! Very funny guy and knowledgeable as well. Test content was fair for the first exam, but he dropped the ball on the second and gave us a lot of oddball questions, but he made up for it. Drops the lowest test(includes final), most test content is from attending class, also gives EC randomly so make sure you attend! Highly recommend!
Hilarious prof. His exams are pretty hard but he drop the lowest test and quiz. No homework and he offers EC ramdonly and they do help a lot. Ended up getting a high B. just be careful of his mandtory slap policy lol
Agree with most of the post. He is an excellent teacher. His test is not easy, albeit you can drop one.
LOVE him!! I look forward to coming to his lecture every single time. He is so funny and is truly a nice person. His lectures are big so he can't help everyone but his teaching assistants are pretty good. His exams can be a little hard sometimes BC I found hat there are a few questions that aren't necessarily covered in class. They might have been but I didn't see it.
Loved this professor made class interesting and funny. Very knowledgable and easy going. Willing to help any student and would recommend him to another student.
Makes a rather dry class interesting and easy going. Hilarious guy. Just don't talk during class unless it's discussion related or.. SLAP!
AWESOME teacher!! Attend his class because he gives out EC which really helps in the final grade. He makes boring class really fun. Study ppts and take good notes. His exams r not easy but as far as you stay on top of his lectures u'll do good. I got B in his class. He is a really funny guy. Makes it fun!“SLAP yourself”&“aight” are his trademarks
Nice guy but tries too hard to be funny and it's a distraction.
Recommend. Barely used the book. Go to class every day and take good notes from his power points. Sometimes his test questions sounded like they were written by a different person, but overall if you study his power points and take good notes on them, it would be easy to get a B or maybe even A
Funny but too much distraction and not focusing to assist students to understand the subject. Not recommend!
Nice man and funny, but not a great teacher. YOu need to teach yourself a lot and beware of really hard exams.
Great professor
Do not take this class unles you plan on learning everything yourself. He will teach you the most basic parts of the concepts and test you on the most difficult parts. I didn't even stand a chance.
Very funny guy, but he should be a comedian and not teaching. Like other reviews said, shows you the VERY basics and then tests you on the really hard stuff that you must teach yourself. He is expecting us to all be math geniuses and make connections that I really struggled with. I tried really hard but always felt like I was set up to fail.
His class is easy if you are into math and economics otherwize it can be a little challenging. The teacher is funny and gives out a lot of extra credi for those who attend class. Exams are pretty straight forward. I did not use the book however we need an online acces. The code can be bought seperatly.
you have to study and learn all by yourself. attendance are not mandatory but he gives out EC quizzes randomly. Tests are very difficult unless you are a genius. I don't recommend him to anyone.
Easy class when you compare it to mummery. Just read the hw he assigns and do the study questions and you should be fine. Midterms are a lot easier too.
What a great guy!! Dr. Rahmatian is one of the best profs we have in CSUF and we should be proud of him! He's an asset to the university! A great knowledgable guy with a lot of experience in EVERYTHING!! I don't even get what people say about Mummery, overrating him way more than what he deserves!!,,but Dr. Rahmatian is a genius! Thanks doc!!
The teacher is really fun and you will learn a lot from him. Attend class and you will do well. His review before the exam is very very similar to what will be on the test.
Morteza is a great teacher. I struggle to understand economic concepts, but he explains everything using examples, so that made it easier. Although I had to read the book as well to pass the exams. Overall he is very nice and outgoing guy, I would definitely take him for other econ classes.
Was a great professor overall. He does useful examples, still have to study a lot to do well. Take good notes and go over them every week. offers extra credit and helps you in the end to pass. is funny and makes jokes too which made class better cuz econ is a very dry subject usually.
Dean Rahmatian was the best professor, who is also a dean, I ever worked with. Not only did he go out of his way to help me get into his class but he also made it extremely convenient for me while I was working full-time. I can never thank him enough for his help.
I hate ECON!! Morteza makes the subject very interesting and gives examples so the concepts stick in your head. He is very funny. Highly recommend taking his class. His explainations are so good that I don't think the book is needed.
read the book before go in to lecture because its hard to understand his accent. you are probably better off teaching yourself by reading the book and doing the end of chapter problems do well on first 2 tests because the final is really hard. he gives extra credits almost every week which are given by pop quizes at the end of each lectures.
He thinks we are Economists. you can never pass his final no matter your grade in class. Hard terms, tricky questions, he is just horrible. I wouldnt recommend him people. Take someone else.
He is a GREAT guy but takes a 'short cut' in explaining concepts which are sometimes hard to understand because he goes very fast. :( His essay questions on the tests are similar to his assigned homework so MEMORISE THOSE!! Overall the tests are still hard because of the multiple choice. The book is very vague as well : Don't take him!
Prof. Rahmatian makes econ a more enjoyable & gives real life examples to help associate with the concepts we are learning. He is extremely funny and wants his students to do well! His explainations are pretty good. I stopped reading the book and went to tutoring center for additional homework help. Highly recommended! Gives lots of extra credit!
I will definitely recommend his class. Such a helpful and nice Professor. His teaching is excellent and he works so hard to make sure students understand the materials. He makes the class very interesting. You will definitely learn a lot in this course just put in effort and you will get result ;)
Prof is really funny. But his class is fast and hard. He assumes you know more than you do and doesn't explain well. Tests were really hard. Even though I went to every class and tutoring, I still got a C. Felt like tests were written for another class. Try someone else.
This is a class where you can not breeze by. Luckily, Morteza gives offers you many opportunities to seek help. Office hours are plentiful. Extra credit is given through pop quizzes at the end of the class. Pop quiz master! Mortezas exams are tough, Print out the notes and take them to the lectures. Do suggested problems. I didn't, got a C.
Professor Morteza is hilarious I highly recommend taking him for Econ 315 You need to come to class doesnt take attendance but gives extra credit quizzes to replace attendance Gives you online homework for extra credit 3 exams including final No homework that you turn in Great presentations with real world examples Will help you pass if you show up
He's tough, but definitely makes you work for it. Do practice problems, take note of the examples he provide during lectures (they show up on the test) he says final is cumulative but is just the last chapters of the last lecture. 2 midterms, one final, DO ALL EXTRA CREDIT (surprise extra credit if u go to class +pay for LearnSmart) ask him 4 help
He offers lots of extra credits (pop-up quiz and online LearnSmart). You should have no problem on the exams if you learned from his lecture and did the homework problems which is not too many. Final is not cumulative but a little harder. An easy A class overall if you study and get the extra credits.
Morteza is really boring. If you want an easy grade and not interested in learning, take him. If you are serious about your career, seek another professor. Hope this helps.
Really difficult class. Exams don't match lectures well at all. Too much joking around. You learn mostly from the book. Wish I could have taken another professor. If you can choose, try someone else.
Morteza is one of the best professor in Mihaylo ! Take him without any doubt! Just read the power point, attend class, and do the "mus do" homework, you'll get an A! He's so funny! Love his class! Highly recommended! The best of the best!
One of the best professors I have had so far. Will crack jokes every chance he gets, you will never get bored. Explains everything very well and gives a ton of examples to help you grasp the concepts. Exams were easy. Just show up and pay attention and you will get an A.
Great teacher. Explains everything and gives extra credit to help grade. Class made up of 3 exams. Homework helps a ton on the exams. Would recommend him to everyone.
Professor Morteza is one of the best professors. He explains the concepts clearly and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. It is nearly impossible to fail if you listen to his lectures. Also, his jokes keeps the class awake. Make sure to study the "must do" homework problems for the exams. All in all- awesome professor
Great Teacher. Really makes a lasting impression.
2 tests and a final. Offers extra credit assignments through website. Gives end of class extra credit opportunities. Tests are short, 10 mc and short answer questions. Do the HW from the book and do the other hw sets he created. They will help you for the short answer problems. Good luck.
Morteza is passionate about teaching his students. Spends a lot of time joking around, but is good at staying on topic during lectures, never derailed a lesson. Two tests and a final. SI is recommended, I think it's what got me a B. He is incredibly helpful during office hours, but he is hard to get a hold of. The EC is needed, so SHOW UP TO CLASS
Dr. Morteza is very intelligent, humble and humorous. He has done (and continues) to do extensive research in his field of externalities. Morteza lectures the whole class but always keeps the students interested. He uses hundreds of real-life examples to explain different concepts. Three exams (two midterms and one final). Go to SI, it's so helpful
The class is straightforward and exams are just like the lectures and homework. The book is only required for homework problems, which are optional, but should be done. 3 exams are multiple choice and free response. 8 extra credit quizzes are worth 5% of the grade. 1-1.5 hours of studying a week.
He was truly a wonderful professor! Cares about his students and uses real life examples to understand econ. Attendance is mandatory. Also take good notes helps with exams. I would highly recommend Professor Morteza overall a great professor.
He's one of the best Econ Professors I've taken, and I'm an Econ Major. Took his class over the summer in the Irvine Campus. He's really helpful and he's always at his office. He gives real examples and jokes a lot. 2 Midterms and a Final. No H/W or Extra Credit (Summer Course).
If ECON is not your thing take Morteza. He is really a nice guy and he truly cares for all of his "children" (that's what he calls his students). Makes the class simple with real life examples but lectures the whole class. Morteza is also very funny putting in jokes into the lecture. I got a D because I slacked off for this class. I regret it.
The exams reflect nothing that are on the must do problems that he gives you to study. He is a nice person BUT his lecturing skills are not great. I never give reviews because your grade depends on you, but so does professors and their teaching styles. Only 3 exams, no papers, no homework, so you have no room to mess up.
Such an awesome professor! He definitely really cares about the students. He teaches the material in a way that's easy to understand. He moves pretty quick so you'll need to keep up but he explains the subject well. 3 exams and some extra credit given randomly. If you take good notes during lecture, you'll do great! Make sure to do the "must do" HW
Montez a is an exellent professor. Definitely cares about the students. Class consists of 3 exam (90, 90, 120) offers extra credit of 15 points (5%). To help you. His lectures are very clear and helps you understand the problems . I suggest reading the chapters, Do the MUST Do HWS (Optional) Hw is not mandatory but practice for the exam, do it
Read all the great reviews and decided to take him. Was severely disappointed in his teaching quality. Makes you feel bad for answering questions incorrectly. He goes over powerpoints in class, but if you want an A you must read the book. 2 midterms, 1 final & extra credit. Take another professor if you get the chance.
pros- he is nice, offers extra credit, no hw cons- he goes too fast when explaining, no hw (easy to fall behind & this means grade is more heavily based on exams), Class is tough. I passed with a C+. I recommend making a study group and going to every SI session. I didn't use the book. I just studied must dos and what he recommended me to study.
He is an amazing professor and funny guy! He's actually the dean of Mihaylo. His lectures are entertaining and gives great life live examples. Exams are 15 multiple choice and 4-5 short answer questions. But he tells you exactly what type of questions will be on there. I definitely recommend this professor.
Honestly, my favorite teacher so far at CSUF. He is the funniest professor I have ever had. He also literally writes down and tells you in class that you'll see this on the exam. Make sure you do the must do's in preparation. GO TO CLASS and write down everything he says. M/C based mostly on your notes. Overall, easy class if you pay attention
Do not buy the book, you won't need it. Everything is based on lectures so don't miss a day and you should pass fine. He is the best professor. I laughed so hard in class and learned so much. I got a B+ in the class and I am always a C student. I was very happy taking this class and so glad our school dean is this awesome!
Class was fun. Test were challenging. Just do the must do homework & read the book. You'll be fine.
Funny Professor. Makes economics fun. Tests were challenging but if you do the extra credit by showing up to class & the must do homework you will do great. One of the best professors. Very funny too!
I love attending his class! He is so funny & gives great lectures. He gives real-life examples that are worth listening to. Also, attend class becuz the examples he use in his lectures will help you understand the graphs on the test. No textbook and homework. He posted problem sets for you to practice which will definitely help on the test.
The FUNNIEST professor at CSUF. He is a real gem. From someone who hates Econ I can say I actually enjoyed this class. He really knows his stuff and teaches in a way that makes it easy to understand. I attended SI sessions periodically and it does help. He offers EC and it helped me a lot, plus I learned from it. Must attend class for EC though.
Hands down my favorite professor. Take him! Always enjoyed going to class since he was so funny and explained the material so well. The exams were tough but as long as you understand the lectures and practice the online problems you should be fine. Come to class daily, the extra credit will help lots. Would take him again 100+%!
If he thought more econ courses I would major in econ. He is very funny and gives real examples of theory. I suggest attending SI and form your own study group. Material becomes more understanding with peers teaching it. Do the must do and actually understand the theory. They may not ask any of the must do questions on exam so know theory!
Follow what I say and you should pass. He offers a lot of extra credit and by the end of the semester he offered more and curved hard. Attend his class, take down everything he says. Read the book and understand every concept he mentioned in class. Do the must do problems, because they appear on the exam. Attending SI is optional but recommended.
He is a really cool professor and tries to make lectures interesting. Only issue is for second test material is really heavy.
Lectures were always funny. Teaches in a large lecture hall. All you need to do is just pay attention, write everything down, practice his Titanium hw and Must do problems, and you will pass. Has 3 exams and an optional conceptual final. (Only take the final if you did really poor on previous exams). Conceptual Qs on exams were tricky.
Hes the best professor for Econ 315! TAKE HIM! EASY B!
hes hilarious lol he gives out random extra credit which really helps your grade. pay attention to his lectures and do the hw and youll pass. final is optional. would take his class just to hear him roast people again lol
You haven't had the proper CSUF experience until you've taken him. Trust, you won't regret it. Show up to class + take notes + study A
Take his class for Econ 315! Three Exams (80Pts each) , Final (Optional), Homework (60Pts), Extra credit in class quizzes (up to 15Pts). His exams are based on at least 20 Mc and 3-4 written responses. Attend his class every time , jot down everything he writes, do the "Must Do Problems" and you'll pass his class. Also he's super funny :)
I attended every single lecture and the class was still hard. Seriously, take detailed notes and listen to the examples he give in class bc they will appear on the exams. Econ isn't something you can just memorize. You gotta practice the math and understand when to use the proper formulas. Also, there is SI! use it if you don't get it.
TONS of EC opportunity! You get free points by just showing up to class- so do it because it raised my grade by 5%. Tests and material are pretty hard. You will have to work for your grade in this class. NO + or -, just solid letter grades. I calculated the final grade distribution for my class and 81% of students passed. He rounds up too!
Great choice for econ! He breaks down concepts so its easier to understand. Online homework, LOTS of extra credit so show up to class. Tests were tough, especially the first one, but hw and ec pull your grade up. Easy class to pass. There's SI and TA's available to help.
To start he is really funny; however, his exams are very difficult and you really have to know everything. Class consist of 3 exams, HW/Learn Smarts, and extra credit. The extra credit gives final grades a 5% increase if you get all of them. Econ 315 is not an easy class, but he does everything he can to help pass you. Classes are just lecture.
Morteza might be funny, but that doesn't make him a great professor. Everyday is a lecture. Gives random extra credit so show up to class for that. Class consists of two exams, online homework, and a mandatory final. He is very vague on what to study for and rushes through all his lectures. Make sure you pay attention and attend SI if needed.
Funny guy who gives out 5% of extra credit if you show up to all the lectures and do the in-class assignments. Tests were fairly easy because he does a good job of saying what is on each exam for study guides (MC, long answers). Make sure to understand the slides. He made Econ 315 enjoyable and I would take him again if he was doing another class.
If you are deciding between mummery and morteza take mummery. I took morteza failed didnt understand anything he was saying did not think he was a good teacher at all. TAKE MUMMERY. retook econ 315 with mummery and learned more in ONE day than i did in the whole semester with morteza. even if mummery is a night class TAKE HIM dont take morteza.
I have had teachers with accents before but the way he speaks is particularly aggravating. He says phrases such as, "are you with me my dear" "my lovely children, are you with me" "are you with me my sweetie" "my lovely friends, are you with me sweetie". Every 2 minutes! Very frustrating to listen to him speak. Skipped class because of this reason.
His teaching style really backfired on me. I did not learn well with him just zooming through the lecture notes and randomly pausing to do some calculations. Everything conceptual is up to you to self study but he does go through calculation problems. Tests are hard but he does offer EC you have to be present to get the points. I DO NOT recommend
Spring 22 ECON 315. I thought I was gonna have to retake the class but he ended up curving at the end of the semester and I got a C. The grade is based solely off of quizzes (4) and exams (3). No extra credit and no homework. You can do the homework for practice and studying, but it's not graded. Not the best at teaching, but a nice and funny guy.
Professor Rahmatian is good at teaching, but not so good at review quizzes and exams. Quizzes are inevitable, so you all have to participate his classes. Exams were hard and long, so review carefully on Mcgrawhill HW, lots of questions come from HW. Your grade will be curved at the end, I got B+ and he curved to A.
Mr. Morteza is a fine proffesor and he knows what hes doing but there are two things to be warry of with him. 1. Everything is graded on Quizes and Exams, so treat everything seriously. 2. While hes a good teacher his Exam and Quiz reviews tend to be vague, you should honestly just review the slides and optional no credit homework.
Do NOT skip lectures. He doesn't quiz/test outside of lectures. Professor Rahmatian is an engaging lecturer who is really good at what he does. Four quizzes, one is dropped and a midterm + cumulative final. Homework isn't collected but if you do them (he provides solutions on canvas), you're in good shape for quizzes/exams.
To do well in this class, review as much material from McGraw, the review questions from the textbook, and attend SI. He does go over what is covered in the exams and quizzes. I thought the professor was very engaging and gave me a couple of good laughs over the course of the class.
Lacked organization and blamed students for it. Only exams and quizzes are used to grade your understanding, leaving no room for actual grading that reflects student participation, effort, or even knowledge as questions were deliberately written in a format to confuse. He ditched me twice after I drove < 20 miles to meet during office hours.
I did not like his teaching style because it was confusing and made it harder to understand. Good luck trying to meet with him because he will set an appointment with you and then ignore you afterward. Definitely would not recommend him.
This class was really difficult. I am a Straight A student and this is the first class i have ever failed. He does not give you study guides but he tells you what is covered but the issue is that the tests have nothing to do what he told us to study for. He is also difficult to seek out after class for help. Your whole grade is based on exams.
Many students in my class and in other reviews that I can see are saying that his class was difficult. Attendance is not mandatory but he zooms his lectures and records them as well. Class was empty and we can also see how many people watched the zooms, many people didn't. If you watch the lectures you'll be fine but failing the class was on them.
My class had 400 students, but by the end, only around 50 watched the videos. Not due to problems with the professor, but because they wanted a free pass. Dr. Rahmatian is a great lecturer and outlines the material concisely. He wants you to succeed. Watch the lecture, do the textbook homework, invest the effort, and you will reasonably get an A.
Get ready to actually lock in for this class. Professor expected students to come to class and participate, class had over 400 students, but only like 50 students would come to the class and zoom so that mad him mad. But overall to pass just make sure to watch the lecture videos and go over the practice review to pass with at least a C.
Professor Rahmatian's lectures can be hit or miss, but staying engaged and using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep can really help. Attendance is a must, but the class is manageable if you put in the work.
Dr. Rahmatian is an excellent instructor who explains the material clearly and wants his students to do well. If you keep up with the lectures, complete the textbook assignments, and put in the effort, getting an A is very achievable. Don't miss any SI session.
Not too tough of a class at all. SI sessions are amazing for this class definitely recommend. uploads his zoom lectures and records good quiz and exam prep. drops lowest quiz and gives EC randomly in class. i couldve gotten a better grade but messed up first 2 quizzes. Lecture heavy but if you take notes and listen he explains concepts very well.
He is the worst because he is sooo old. Canvas grades are inaccurate, the material is filled with several formulas and concepts which is manageable with a cheat sheet but he doesn't allow them quizzes or exams. Also, despite the chapters being so large, the quiz is only 10 questions, so it is hard to know what to prepare for. No study guides either
A very dear dear professor. 2 midterms (mc + 2 frqs), 4 quizzes, & weekly homework assignments. Must buy textbook to do the hw. Offers extra credit for in-person attendance & drops 1 lowest quiz grade. Makes review videos for every quiz & exam. Gives clear lectures & is a silly goosie. Only downside is no cheat sheet.
Honestly a good professor, 4 quizzes (lowest is dropped), midterm, homework but not a ton and he offers extra credit (for my session it was 13 possible points). Records all lectures and posts a ton of resource videos (but ur better off going to SI). The only real knock is that his TAs are God awful and so annoying. They hawk over you during exams.
make sure you go to SI meetings for this class. everything they go over will be on quizzes and tests. if you go to the meetings, you will pass. additionally professor gave us a lot of extra credit points and curved for students who were failing.
Took him in spring 2025, and he's a nice guy who knows his stuff. Had him in the morning, but I still went often since he used scenarios/examples to make the material easier to digest. Exams weren't hard. Easy to reach through email for feedback or help.
