Really really really nice lady. Class is the best class I've ever taken but it definitely takes a lot of time. Don't take it if you think it's just an easy online class cause you definitely have to work for it. She did an awesome job making an online class very interactive (like using chat rooms). Always available for questions. Great class.

Absolutely terrible experience with Gernsbacher leading an online course. She does not clearly define what you have to do to get a good grade. I am incredibly interested in the topic of this class. However it was a terrible experience. She really screws you over. All assignments are responses online and she pulls grades out of nowhere. My first time taking a fully online course. The expectations were fully laid out and clear. There is homework due 5 days a week. Expect to spend 60-90 min on the homework per day. You definitely learn a lot in this class for academic and life purposes. Material was very interesting & organized. No textbooks or exams. 1 term project due at the end.

Worst class I ever took. The grading is absolutely ridiculous. Quality over quantity does NOT apply here. Quality can go right out the window! The class is more about following meticulous guidelines than actual thinking and writing. Not to mention if you bring a complaint to her, she will brush it right under the rug. So glad this class is done.

Professor Gernsbacher is a fair teacher. She does note that she cares for the students and is generally concerned for them. A couple of times I stated concerns about an assignment, she just resent the instructions on the assignment. I would have found it more helpful if she told me directly. In addition, forget a sentence, you will get downgraded.

Said we could work ahead, opened course during winter break, that was the accommodation. Was employed throughout break meaning I couldn't do class. Should we be expected to work during the month we get to breathe? her reason is "if u know ur going to miss things work ahead" ma'am i'm disabled, I can't predict that that's why i have accommodations.

I wouldn't consider this class tough at all. If you read the directions/syllabus/course requirements, everything you need to succeed is clearly outlined. And Gernsbacher is easy to reach; she responds to emails very quickly. Idk. The class is manageable. Just read the directions.

The homework was tedious, and TAs took off points for little things. However, the class is not difficult, just a lot of work. You will also have to meet with classmates online once per week, which can be VERY annoying. The articles were enjoyable, but the overall content needs an update. She had Tumblr as an option for our finals lol.

225 was a great online class. It was easy and Professor Gernsbacher was approachable. I will say there is a lot of writing, so you're doing work pretty much every day. It's worth it to take it online!

This professor gets a really bad rap but is a fantastic professor. All assignments have very clear expectations. Grading is fair, you just have to follow the directions. It is not a hard class, it is a lot of work but well worth it if you don't mind completing the tasks exactly as they are written.

Gernsbacher researches learning and online education but does not implement a single thing into her online course. The class uses almost no original content and uses incredibly out of date studies while emphasizing the ability to update content easily. While the grading is straightforward, it is incredibly nitpicky and every assignment is busywork.

I took the class online, which I have done for many classes, she is the worst. There are assignments with multiple readings due EVERY SINGLE DAY except Saturday, don't worry there are 2 assignments on Sunday for you to do. Don't deviate at all from the criteria or name your assignment wrong, youll get 0/3 points, if you correct it youll get max 2/3

I have never had a class that's made me feel so defeated. She and the TAs will make you feel like no matter how hard you try, you will rarely get a good grade on her 84 assignments of busy work. You spend little to no time learning about psych or research methods, but you'll spend plenty of time on grammar and media literacy. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS

Assignments weren't hard content-wise, but the instructions were unnecessarily specific. You must follow instructions exactly as written, or you fail automatically. Students were graded more on how detail-oriented they were, rather than the skills they had for psych. Also I didn't expect to have to write 2 essays for one assignment in a single day.

The assignments are all busy work, so I learned nothing. Also, it took pages of writing/bullet points for her to explain one assignment, and if you miss one small detail in this huge wall of text, you get a 33% percent on the assignment. Even if you correct it, you can only get a 66%, so it's perfection or failure. Worst professor I've had by far.

this is a class on the psychological effects of the internet and she uses articles and information from 15-20 years ago. the syllabus and website haven't been updated in what seems like a decade. it feels irresponsible. even more frustrating is her grading - it doesn't matter if you answer all the questions right, if you misname the file it's a 0

The most mind-numbing class I've taken, and I'm only 2 weeks in. I didn't know someone could make such simple instructions sound like rocket science. This is going to be an awful 3 months. Do not take this class

Everything is busy work, and each assignment is laid out so there is no room for deviation in anything. The course is mind-numbing, and it has yet to use any source prior to the year 2015. In this class, you'll learn how to make a screen name that would've been appropriate for a middle schooler 20 years ago, despite it being a 500's level course.

A disgrace to the psychology department, it's laughable that this is considered a depth course when she has you do the most random, mind numbing assignments every day. It's an easy A if you do all the assignments but not worth the painful boredom & annoyance it comes with. Her idea of being helpful comes off extremely condescendingly too.

Easy A, but relentlessly tedious class. Busy work, vapid assignments, unstimulating, and outdated. Nothing of substance in any of the 80+ assignments. I can't fathom how a depth class is still run like this. Requires zero creative/critical thinking and basically test your attention to detail. Biggest waste of time in all 4 years, should've dropped.

She didn't offer ANY opportunities for critiques in course evals so I'm here instead. This class teaches you what the professor wants you to know from her ancient outdated internet opinions which are in no way relevant of remotely interesting. Hated every minute of every assignment of this class. RUN while you can.

I'm annoyed I could not critique her on the course evaluation. It is a class about the internet yet sources are from the 2010s. I got a 1/3 on an assignment because I had a small typo on my pdf file name. Once you get points off you get max 2/3 when fixed so its not worth. I genuinely learned nothing. Easy A if you do the work but waste of time.

When trying to ask a question she just refers you back to the instructions or syllabus when I'm trying to have a conversation with her to actually understand. Her and the TAs were kind of condescending with the way they left feedback or if you had a question about your grade. Attendance for weekly group chats
