I took Moses and REALLY enjoyed him as a professor I would def take him again

Practice and go over the reviews before the tests and you will do fine. He also lets you exempt the final if you have a B or higher in the class, and if you do take the final, he drops your lowest test grade

He is a very good professor. He knows what he is talking about, and if he needs to explain further for you he will. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he does not mind answering. He is petty with poppers. So if he does 5 in the beginning of class and you leave he will add in more at the end of class. Attend class and do the work and you'll pass.

You don't have to go to class to pass, but I highly recommend it. He explains every concept so well and makes the lectures super enjoyable. He is really funny and never has a dull moment. Highly recommend and I would take him again if I could.

He's a good teacher and definitely knows what he's talking about. If you come in to this class with fairly good algebra knowledge, you'll do fine. He tends to move a little fast so if you zone out for a little bit, you might get behind. I sometimes found it hard to keep up but when I did, he taught it really well and made it easily understandable

Take him for Finite.. He explains every thing in details, and makes the tough material so easy and absorbable. He also gives extra explanations before each exam. 1313 course is easy but somehow tricky you need to pay attention to every detail.. other than that, I highly recommend this professor over any other professor.

I LOVED HIM!!! he's a great professor, super chill and funny. We had two online quizzes at week, but their easy and they give 20 attempts to make an A. Practice test counted as extra credit on the exams. My final grade at the end of the semester was 101.65, it's a super easy class to make an A if you put in the effort.

I took this professor for Math 1310. He's really good at being able to explain things in multiple ways and providing clarity. There are two quizzes a week and a homework assignment online due most Mondays. You need to also be aware of his POPPERS. He likes to either sneak them in or make them obvious. I wish I could take him again.

Hilarious professor! Keeping up with homework is what's most important, and (usually) there are NO make ups whatsoever. His poppers are easy and funny, but DO NOT leave class before he says it's over. Overall very nice and doesn't mind answering the same question over and over because he really wants you to understand.

I took his mini session and I thought it was going to be super difficult--it's not. You have about 15 quizzes, 1 or 2 almost about every other day, but no hw or poppers. There's 4 exams and his online lectures are easy to understand and go along with. MAKE SURE TO TRY TO GET 100 ON HIS QUIZZES AND PRACTICE EXAMS EVERY TIME! P.E'S ARE EC FOR EXAMS.

Although I didn't have too much trouble in this class, Sosa is able to explain to students who have questions in a very clear manner and with a class usually full of a hundred or more students that is very impressive! get 100 on your quizzes and do the practice exams for extra credit!!!!!!! very nice guy and easy class to take!

Professor Sosa teaches in detail, so that you can understand the concepts. Although at times he may be hard to follow, he is willing to clear up any questions if you simply ask. He does not do all his poppers at one time during the class, he does them sporadically. Take the practice exams because they are 10% extra credit to your actual exams.

Moses is an ok professor, he was a stuckup many times, I had many issues with casa online not letting me turn in two homeworks, and he said he couldn't do anything about it but he dropped two at the end of the semester so I really wasn't tripping, I learned more with my tutor than with Sosa, made an A on this class.

Professor Sosa is a really great. He really tries to go in depth with the material and answers any question. Keep up with due dates and go to class for the poppers! Practice tests are extra credit for actual exams. As long as you do all your work you should do fine! Plus I believe he drops some grades at the end of the semester, he'll go over that

I took an online minimester and his online lecture videos are very thorough and easy to follow. As long as you keep up with the pace of the class, it's an easy class. Only 2 tests, midterm and final.

Best Math Professor by far. He explains every step of the way and if you dont understand the lecture or problem he tries to give you different scenarios so you'll understand. His class consist of daily Poppers so Attendance is a must. Poppers will consist of the previous problems he just did so its easy. You'll also do quizzes(online),homework(10Q)

I took his winter mini and it is honestly worth it. Professor Sosa teaches the material clearly and prepares you for the exams. The class is an easy A with effort! 15 quizzes, no homework, 3 exams including final, and practice exams are extra credit.

Professor Sosa is a great math professor. He explains everything out in detail and is free to answer any questions. We use poppers for attendance. He is a funny guy and I would definitely take him again. Class is simple if you are actually paying attention. You wont regret taking him.

Sosa is funny, energetic, and a has good lectures. The UH math department does PDF color-annotated notes and they seem to be standardized, so content should be uniform. There is extra credit opportunity for each exam. A "pop-quiz" is given every class but they are easy and mostly for attendance. Except 1-2 homework assignments a week. Easy A

Awesome professor, I actually enjoy showing up to a class of 200 plus which is unusual! You wont regret taking his class! Gives clear direction on what you need to know for tests and how to prepare! Cares about his students!

Hilarious and energetic. Not afraid to humorously call you out for stuff, even in a class of 200. Tons of extra credit. Up to +10 points on each test for doing the practice test. Simple subject, but sometimes he goes too fast. Shows you shortcuts and easier ways to do things. Approx. 2 homework assignments and 2 quizzes a week.

Prof Sosa is an EXCELLENT INSTRUCTOR!!! Lectures are clear and information is put out in a professional manner! If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes, by all means do so! You will not regret it as long as you put in your share of the effort!

waited till my graduating year to take Finite math because I was scared of math. I can boldly say now that if you have a great math professor then you can learn and understand anything. I ended with an A+ in the class and opted-out of the final. I have never opted out of anything math related in my life. Thanks Moses Sosa.

Dr. Sosa is super chill and a really good teacher. His lectures are thorough and organized, if you pay attention you should be able to get it. I took him for College Algebra, easiest math class ever, pretty much just high school Algebra 2 all over again. Like any math class at UH, there's a lot of homework but it is completely manageable.

All assignments are on a clear schedule so keeping up is easy. Go to class because he explains everything clearly. Poppers are spread out throughout class so don't leave early, sometimes he gives 10 and sometimes 20 so don't leave until he writes "bye class." Finite is easy and if you need help just ask him & he'll help you out. Reviews are helpful

He is an awesome teacher. I took the 5 week Calculus 1 mini. Its definitely a hard course because you have so much work crammed into 5 weeks. The teacher is a really good teacher though. If he taught Calculus 2 online I would take this professor's class again.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I highly recommend you take him for math if you can. He is hilarious and makes class so entertaining. He makes sure everyone understands before moving on to the next unit. If you have questions he is wiling to answer before moving on. The class was overall very easy. He does poppers everyday so just make sure you go to class.

Mr. Sosa is a great math teacher. If you come see him when you are struggling with the class he will help you out. Good sense of humor and doesn't keep you past class. Color codes notes really well and are easy to follow. Poppers are for attendance but the lectures are also online

There's a lot of busy work in this class. If you show up and pay attention, you'll be good. I took calc in high school and it was so difficult but Sosa explains the concepts really well and makes sure you understand it. He's a really good teacher. 10/10 recommend

I took the online class due to schedule inconvenience. I am almost never there to watch his live lecture but I always watch his lecture videos. Very straight to the point; If you do and understand the homework you will ace your tests. This is important because teachers tend to either make the tests way harder than hw or have inconsistent tests.

Definitely would take Sosa again. I'm usually not good at math but I've been passing with an A the whole semester. Really breaks things down for you in class and you're able to go home and piece it together yourself. Just show up and pay attention. Also the group me is amazing.

If you have to take math take this man ! The way he explains the lessons are make it easy to understand, he will answer any and all questions 10x over to ensure you get the material, the practice test cover every scenario that may be covered on the actual test and if you get a 80> you can opt out of final

This class is very doable. I took his online class and it was very easy. He has a ton of homework, quizzes, and tests but if you watch the lectures they are very easy.

If you have to take a math, Professor Sosa is amazing!!! The class was super easy too!! Offers lots of extra credit, and really explains things to where it's easy to learn. I opted out of the final and ended up with a grade over a 100.

If you actually take notes and listen then this class is an easy A. He uploads the material that he went over in class, so you always have notes to go back to if you dont understand. He gets stricter on poppers throughout the semester and starts counting the class to know how many poppers to expect, so attendance matters.

this class in not a self paced course. you have to do the hwk and listen to his sessions to pass. class was an easy A, just need effort. what i didnt like was that he never gave you the answers to the hwk so you cant use to study off.

I took this class during the winter mini session and passed effortlessly with an A! His videos are amazing ! Only took 1 midterm and 1 final and 15 quizzes! If youre good at math i definitely recommend the winter session !

He came in and rescued our class from doing poorly. He left a good impression which prompted me to take Business Calc with him this upcoming semester.

I took his winter mini and ended with an average over a 100. It wasn't much of a time commitment. There's only 15 online quizzes, the first test is online, there is a midterm and a final, and 3 online practice exams (10% of each practice exam score gets added on to each test) He posted his lectures online and explains everything thoroughly.

Ended with over a 100 in this class. He's a really good teacher and posts all his lecture notes online after class. Poppers every class so you have to show up, but it was easy.

Dr. Sosa was so awesome! I took his online class for MATH1313, and it was great. He seems like the nicest guy and made math interesting! He is also funny and kept the class entertained. Professor Sosa is very patient and open to any questions that his students ever had. He was very quick at responding to emails when it came to questions about the homework as well. He always kept the classroom alive with his happy, ready to teach personality! I would definitely take him again!

He's a good teacher, he likes to colour coordinate material to make it easier for us to understand. Poppers are all over the place though (he goes from number1 to 34 to 50) but usually 5-10 poppers a class. He's a caring and good professor. I recommend!

Sosa is a decent teacher, and a solid choice for someone going into Cal 2. His lectures are what you'd expect from a Cal class. He does make mistakes every now and then, but this is how he makes sure you're paying attention (lol) Overall he is an effective teacher for those who have a good foundation of Cal 1 (Sosa won't reteach you the old stuff!)

Poppers EVERY SINGLE DAY! Stay till the end. Weekly quizzes & biweekly homework. Go to lectures, he explains the material well. The whole class can be done through Geogebra, so the faster you get a hang of it the better. It's literally no more than 40 commands and question methodologies you need to learn for the entire semester.

I took his online class. His online video lectures are clear, and his live online class lectures are easy to follow along. 4 tests, optional final, poppers for each live lecture due 2 days after. Quizzes and online HW each week. Practice tests up to 10 points extra credit per test. Able to complete work on your own time. Tests @ CASA. EZ Class.

If math isn't your strong suit I'd suggest taking a class with Professor Sosa. He makes everything very easy to understand. Attendance isn't necessary as he puts all finished notes on Blackboard, but going to the classes makes understanding them easier.

Took the class online. Even though I left just about every assignment to the last minute, still made like a 102 overall. Just make sure to do the practice tests to get extra credit (10% of your grade gets added to test) and to make sure you know the material on the test.

Super good professor!! Cares about his students and his lectures are very easy and enjoyable. Definitely should get an A in this class if you don't you didn't try. Extra credit is offered on every exam a maximum of 10 points. Poppers weekly and hw every week is what makes up the class.

BEWARE OF MINI TERMS! Sosa is a great professor with the utmost respect for his students. He's very responsive and lectures are great. If I could rate this course though, I would give it a 4 in difficulty because of the tedious work that comes with a mini session. I took Math1313 online in a mini course with Sosa and finished with a 104 in the course. He breaks the lectures down in an easy way to understand. He responded quickly any time I emailed him and was very polite and helpful. He gave 10% of our practice test grade as extra credit on the exams. If you do the work, easy A. Highly recommend Sosa.

I took finite online with Sosa & ended up with a 106 in the course. I highly recommend him. He's really funny and makes the live lectures not painful to sit through. You get 2 poppers from 2 weekly videos so you have to remember to watch them. There are usually 2 homework assignments and 1 or 2 quizzes due every week. It's a lot of work but if you find like 3 hours to sit down and do everything it's a breeze. Test are a clear reflection of the homework.

Sosa is a super chill and funny professor. He actually cares about you learning the material and his online lecture videos are great. Highly recommend taking the online class but it is easy to fall behind if you don't watch the videos on time. HW/ quizzes can be tedious but the amount is way less than calculus. Plus you can opt out of the final!

Took a session 6 online class for math 1313! I was so scared, but his online lectures are super easy to follow and the practice tests and quizzes really help you on the actual exams! Highly recommend Professor Sosa!

Excellent professor. I actually wish I took his math 1413 Calc Class. He really knows what materials are important to study and how to effectively teach his class. I didn't struggle like I initially did in my previous math class which was Calculus 1. I ended up with a 103 in his class or simply 100 because he knows how to go straight to the point.

I am terrible at Math but this professor is really awesome I did the 4wk winter mini online. Watch his lectures and do the quizzes (20tries) and practice tests (20 tries also) & you'll be fine. He only teaches what you need to know. The mini moved really fast but would def do it over again with him. He's awesome, take him.

Took it during the winter online and it was on of the easiest classes I've taken. It does become a little stressful because there is so much material to cover so stay on pace, but overall the videos are really well structured and effectively teach the material.

Sosa is a great professor and I really enjoyed taking his class this semester. He does a great job at explaining material and makes it easy to get over a 100 on each exam. There are lots of quizzes and hw's but they all help prepare you for exams. You can opt out of the final if you have a B or higher. Some grades are dropped, ended up with a 99.8.

Professor Sosa was the best professor that I had during my first year of college. He is great at explaining the concepts, and his humorous quips make the class more bearable. There are a LOT of assignments for Cal 1, but if you pay attention to the lectures, then you'll be fine. If you do all of your assignments, and study old exams, you'll get a A

Signed up for a minimester and it sucked. You have an exam literally 3 days after the first day of class and you have to learn about 7 lessons in those 3 days. Just dont take a minimester with him. It was so bad I dropped the class and Ive literally never dropped a class before

The only bad thing about his class is that id you don't like math you're going to be bored and annoyed during his class. Other than that, he's great. Take him!

Prof. Sosa tries extremely hard to help you understand the math. His class is formulated well and I respect him but my biggest wish is that he recorded his lectures. Hes laid back enough that students talk and do whatever they want in class so you cant focus. Not entirely his fault but thats really my only complaint. He does care and does try.

The amount of homework is decided by the department and not the professor. The class is tough if you are not good with math, but he goes over any quests twice a week during online lecture.

Took his short session 6 course for math 1313. everything was online and we had 15 quizzes and 4 tests plus a final all in 1 month. honestly it was a LOT of work but fairly easy if you paced yourself. His lecture recordings were very easy to understand and tests were similar to the quizzes.

Show up because there are poppers everyday (unless you have a friend who will do them for you lol). Notes are posted online. Print them before class to follow along and it makes studying easy. Quite a bit of homework and quizzes but, honestly, I'm not a math person and I found the class pretty manageable, if not easy. I'd take him again!

Sosa literally was the main reason i passed Cal 1. I only wish he taught cal 2 so i could have an easier time. He was super helpful and would go over a topic in multiple questions, and wasn't disconnected from the youth, so he was enjoyable to listen to. His voice was also really soothing, but that's more a personal thing

He is so specific and detailed during his lectures, he does a lot of examples and problems to make sure every concept is fully understood. Plus, he uploads his notes online for you to refer to. The exams are so much easier with his help and feedback. I'm currently taking him again in MATH1314 (Business Calculus) and he is just as helpful there!

Sosa, is a great professor, and hes willing to go extra to help you. Cal is already difficult, so you need to go over it on your own. Homework doesn't depend on the teacher but the department. Extra credits are given on practice test. He saves his notes and post it. (JUST NOTES) Poppers. As well as HW for lab every week.

I took the finite winter mini and it was really easy. He posted video lectures, responded to emails, and made exams easy to complete after the winter holidays. save time and take this course in the winter!! he is a great teacher and you will still learn the basics for stats!

He is a very meticulous professor, giving many examples with different situations for each concept, so it is very easy to understand. He also posts his notes online after lecture. I took this class as a mini 4 week course so it was very difficult, but I managed to make a B, so I was able to opt out of the final exam. Pretty much, you print out the assignments and follow his videos and learn how to do the work. There are practice tests online that help prepare you for the actual exam. Manageable class if you do the work!

Professor Sosa is the BEST for mathematics. His online lessons are great, you're actually ENGAGED when taking notes. Took him online due to COVID, wish I had taken him for my other math courses. 4 tests, 15 quizzes, opt-out choice (B- or higher) He is patient, caring, words fall short... learning is easy with him! Good at teaching math. He explains almost everything in detail (even concepts students should know but often forget). I didn't struggle with this class too much. Main complaints - he would close poppers after 2 minutes which seems a little much. God forbid anybody goes to the bathroom. Exams always had 1or2 tricky theory questions.

Sosa is a very good professor and it shows in his lectures. He's very hell bent on helping you if you don't understand something. I am absolutely terrible at math and I've struggled with it my entire academic career. That changed in this course and I was able to do well all thanks to Sosa. Do yourself a favor and take this professor.

Good professor, but the class itself certainly requires a lot of practice to truly digest the material. Honestly, does not matter what professor you have for calc because you still need to put the effort in regardless. Sosa does his level best to help in every way possible. Professor Sosa is a great teacher. Be ready, he is fast paced, he will answer your questions though, but it is noticeable that he can get annoyed. still, i loved his class, hes very positive and easy going and taught me a lot.

Professor is very straight forward and a great teacher. If there's questions, he answers them. Grades are the same procedures are all CASA classes, so there's online quizzes and extra credit tests for actual tests.

had the pleasure of having Dr. Sosa as my calc1 professor my first semester of college and he instantly became my fav professor to learn from. he makes lectures that much more fun, and kept everything light yet informative. he doesnt like to say hes a nice guy, but all his students can disagree! the chillest guy you can learn from.

Dr. Sosa is the BEST! His lectures are so clear and concise. He pauses and will answer your question and make sure that you understand. I have taken Calculus before him and didn't understand a thing. With Sosa, I actually understand the concepts. He is funny and easy going, expects you to put in work, obviously, but an amazing professor.

Gives a clear syllabus at the beginning of the semester. Great lectures that are easy to follow. He answers questions you have for him during class. Great teacher for those who do and somewhat dont have a great understanding of math. 4 Exams, 1 Final, Multiple Weekly Quizzes, Popper Set Weekly, Homework Weekly but not lengthy. Overall amazing!

Although there are a lot of homework's and quizzes, Sosa will answer any question you have! He is very accommodating and it is very easy to understand concepts when he is teaching it!

He stops during lecture if clarification is needed. If life happens, just show proof and he'll try to help you out. Participate during poppers. DO the reviews he posts during test week. Do and practice ALL quizzes bc it WILL help during the test. HE DOESN'T CURB, so get good with your basic algebra and trig skills. And PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

His lectures are the best

I cried because his class came to an end. I would totally take his class again if I could. He stopped if any questions are asked, small or big. VERY accessible outside of class, will not ignore your email. He actually made online school engaging and for CALCULUS? that is a hard thing to do. I waited for his lectures because I actually had fun.

Sosa makes sure that his students understand the material well. He will go back and walk you through how to solve examples if you are confused. Will make jokes with the class and overall had a great semester with him. HE IS THE BEST!!! TAKE HIM FOR MATH1313!!!

Sosa is great. He records his meetings so if you miss something, don't be afraid to go back. Material is taught well, the book in fact helped me a lot. A lot of HW though, however, helped me stay on top of the material and made the quizzes and tests seem more doable. Not a single complaint about Sosa's class, would take again.

When I first saw syllabus, I was intimidated, but Prof. Sosa made this class interesting and he is a trip. He is great at explaining things and very patient with the class. Class was full of challenges and you have to work for the grade and watch for the weekly Poppers, but overall, I LOVED Sosa and would take him for every math class if I could.

Sosa is GOATED in my book. He does his best to break down the materials in a very doable manner. However, there are TONS of assignments from poppers, homework, and quizzes every week. He does this so you learn at the end of the day. If you do everything he will drop a few in each category, as well as give bonus points. TAKE HIM

Every week, there are 2 poppers, 1-2 homeworks, and 1-3 quizzes. The workload might seem tedious, however, the exams are reflective of the assignments. If you do all the assignments and watch the pre-recorded lectures, you'll do well on the exams. Although the amount of assignments seem overwhelming, they don't take up too much time.

I took this class after taking College Algebra through Calculus II, so this class felt like a joke to me. Yeah some topics were more tedious than others, but the work was definitely not hard. Its is practically impossible to fail this class if you watch his lectures, which in my opinion are straight to the point. I took this class in a mini(4weeks)

If you get the chance to, take him. He's super helpful and not condescending. He doesn't make you feel dumb for asking questions and will answer emails fast. Tests are like the practice test so no surprises.

This class focuses mostly on refreshing high school math knowledge, and Professor Sosa is a solid choice. His lectures are simple and easy to follow, and he is easy to reach outside of class. Most of your assignments are on CASA, including homework and tests. It's nothing too heavy.

Practice tests are almost an exact copy of the actual exams. Bonus: 5% of what you get on them will be added to your test (ex: 100 on practice test 1 will add 5 points to test 1). 20 attempts on quizzes and practice tests. Sosa does get blunt when answering questions, get his attention by @ him on teams. Gives most popper answers. Textbook is free.

I happened to like Professor Sosa. He's very straightforward which might come off as rude for some people, but the quality of his lectures was great. Remembering everything is another story, but overall, it was the first time I enjoyed learning math. Lots of hw and quizzes, but they usually won't take more than an hour to do. Read the syllabus!

If you listen to the lectures and take notes you'll do fine in the class. Be prepared to finish 2-3 homework assignments plus 1-2 quizzes a week. The class isn't hard but there's a lot of work that goes into the class. Also be prepared to be in tutoring once to twice a week to succeed in the course.

His videos are very easy to understand and everything is on casa or Microsoft teams. However, he is a bit passive-aggressive on answering your questions about the class (like grades or questions about the class). Overall he is good at teaching his lectures and his live sessions are nice too. I would take him again.

This class has a lot of homework, but it's not the professors fault. He is easy to understand, answers all questions, and posts his notes after class. Extra credit comes in the form of points based on how you do on your practice test, forces you to study and raises your grade. Calculus is not a very exciting subject but he made is bearable.

There are a lot of quizzes in which you get 20 attempts to complete however these quizzes are super easy if you complete the homework and read the textbook. this course also includes 4 tests which are easy if you understand homework and quizzes. I took this class asynchronous Fall 2021. The prerecorded videos were great, CASA tutoring is also available. Professor Sosa held weekly meetings to go over students questions. There is about 3 homework's due each week and 1 quiz. The practice test is optional but is also extra credit. I would take him again for this subject.

Sosa was actually really good. I took his class in person for fall 2021. His lectures were clear, he always answered questions and was willing to further explain any problem. He also cracks jokes or talks to himself , which is funny so thats a plus. The homework comes from the notes and the quizzes have multiple attempts. Loved this class

Pretty chill professor, calculus is hard no matter what, so be prepared to put in the work. Only downside is he forgets to input material at times. Pray you have a good TA to help you.

Prof Sosa is extremely patient. The first day he went over Slope in a college class and he went so in-depth. Finite math isn't bad in general. We usually have 2 homework a week with no more than 10 questions and 1 quiz. He won't hesitate to help you and he won't call you out if you don't know anything and he's really funny.

Sosa is honestly a great proff for calculus. Extra credit opportunities on every exam. He is pretty funny and tried to interact with his students in class. If you really try understanding the quizzes and homework you should be fine. He makes sure you are really prepared before the exams!!!

I took finite math in person. Grade consists of online homework and quizzes, in person exams, and an optional final exam. Everything is pretty organized and layed-out for you. If you go to all the lectures you should be fine in this class, Sosa is a pretty decent prof. I never went to lectures and cram studied before the tests and got a A-

I took the MINI class, so the workload was a lot but it was easy. Grades consisted of quizzes on CASA and tests. I slacked off so I finished with a B, but if I had actually put time into the class, I know it would've been an A+. Literally woke up three hours before my final exam, studied the whole course content, and got a 100. Not even joking.

Sosa was a homie at the end of the semester and did me a favor so that is why he got a good review from me. His lectures are hard to understand as he mumbles. Watch his videos. Do his reviews and you should be fine. This class was definitely challenging, but nothing out of the ordinary. He seems like a genuine professor who wants success 4 students

Sosa was one of the best professors I had this semester. This class is basically a guaranteed A as long as you watch the lecture videos and do the work. He also offers extra credit on tests, so that was a plus as well. If you can take him then do that!

There's extra credit on tests based on your score on the practice test ( 5 points if you get a 100 ) that have 10 attempts. The Class goes at a fast pace but its not overwhelming as long as you do the quizzes on time and you pay attention, and Professor Sosa is a fun lecturer to listen to and tries to make the content as interesting as possible.

This class is unbelievably easy but they give so much unnecessary busy work, to the point where you have a HW assignment every 3 days and 2 quizzes per week. The professor is also bad at explaining, but the subject is easy enough to follow. Take whoever, because this class is braindead easy if you literally just watch the pre-posted lecture videos.

Sosa is the best professors I have ever had at UH. Calculus seemed daunting to me before taking his class and I never thought I would enjoy doing math for fun, but this guy is awesome. His lectures go in detail and he explains everything so well. From someone who hated math and was never good at it before, to now loving it; I owe it to him.

The lectures were posted online for me, so I did not have to go to class but that was for Covid reasons so things may change later. There are a ton of HW and quizzes that will take some time but are not too bad. Just make sure to do the test reviews for extra credit.

I think people tend to downplay the difficulty of this class. Nonetheless, Professor Sosa is an amazing. Take this from me, I am terrible at Math, but he explains everything so smoothly, like butter on toast. His practice tests and reviews are fairly similar to the exams. There is also a lot of busy work in this class, so don't slack! Take him!

Great Professor, I had him for Calculus too. He keeps lectures interesting and is very responsive to students. Easy A and lots of dropped grades. Practice Tests are extra credit (+5 pts on exams). I never went to class and basically taught myself through notes he posted for both courses--definitely go to class though. Tests are short and easy.

Prof Sosa is the best. i barely ever went to class and learnt stuff through the notes he posted a lot of grades are dropped and there plenty chances to make up grades. Labs also help as well.

I took him for finite and professor Sosa is a very good teacher who is able to explain the material well and is organized. There is a good amount of work for this class (at least 3 assignments a week). He is responsive to emails and I wouldn't miss class but there were prerecorded lectures on microsoft teams that you could watch. I would recommend.

I have taken three math professors and Sosa's way of teaching provided me with the most clarity. Math is not my strongest subject but I was able to understand this class quite well. He drops your lowest quiz and some homework, giving you an opportunity to increase your grade. There is a lot of work to be completed every week.

Professor Sosa teaches in a logical format where even a baby can learn from him. I totally recommend Professor Sosa for Finite Math 1324 and other classes he teaches because if you watch his lectures and keep up with your work, there's no way you won't get a B at minimum.

You want to learn math and don't know where to start? This is your man. If you have any questions after lectures he will answer them to the best of his ability over and over again. He made calculus like algebra and I still remember some of the basics thanks to him. HW Quizzes do get overwhelming but you are allowed to work on them in lab with TA

Best professor ever!!! He is not stingy at all with resources, posts old lectures completed notes, etc. Obviously you have to study to do well in the course, and he does everything in his power to help you do that, TAKE HIM!!!

Great professor! Everything is very direct and as long as you put in the effort, you will pass the class. There are online lessons and an extra 5 points on every test if you complete the test review. Take this class. It is a little time-consuming, but definitely doable.

I took his class online and I loved it; he uploads all the lecture videos, notes, and reviews from the start; you do them along with quizzes. His lectures are in-depth and he explains extremely well. If you can keep up with doing online work (every day) I suggest taking the online math course he offers. ONLINE ISN'T FOR EVERYONE

You will do well in this class if you attend the lectures and actually try on the quizzes. You get 20 attempts on every quiz so make use of it. I got all of mine out of the way and was basically done with the class weeks before the end of the semester. Exams are exactly like practice tests, Final is optional if you make over an 80 in the class

Professor Sosa works his hardest to make math interesting. The class structure is very clear. Take notes and do your work, you'll be fine. Attendance is required hence the poppers. It's best not to miss class anyways as he moves fast with teaching sections.

Sosa is the best professor you can get for MATH 1324. He has clear grading criteria, his exams are well-prepared. He gives extra credit for practice tests before upcoming exams, that's a big PLUS. Keep up with the HW and quizzes!! Remember!!!! He DOES NOT round up the grades in the end.

He's a good professor, clearly explains concepts. He is patient with students and does not hesitate to pause his lectures to help a student understand the problem. He can also be impatient though. He will stop and wait for a class to quiet down like a high school class and give the "I'm waiting" look. He's not bad, and I do recommend him.

This is the right math professor to take, especially asynchronous with on-campus exams, and he's an excellent professor in teaching advanced math at UH! He has pre-recorded section videos at start of class so you know what he was talking about. Take him for Finite Math if you need a math course to satisfy the Mathematics/Reasoning core requirement.

Professor Sosa is an amazing lecturer to making Calculus seem easy as possible. I took this Calculus I course during the Fall 2022 semester and I believe that he's the reason why I was able to get an A. He's very lenient with his lab quizzes and is there to help after class. Definitely attend the CASA tutoring center and his TA's are glad to help.

took this course over the winter break,It was 4 weeks long. Overall the classwork was pretty easy, especially if you've taken college algebra before. All the lecture videos were available upfront, and had weekly teams meetings if help was needed. He's a great professor and willing to help.I couldn't remember how to solve the problems during test

Best math professor I've had in years. He's pretty laid-back and chill, but that doesn't mean his class is easy. If you're good at math you probably won't struggle. There's weekly homework and quizzes, as well as 3 tests plus a final (that you can exempt).

Sosa is an awesome teacher who understands the material and is great at helping people who don't understand. The actual stuff we learn is fairly easy (depending on how well you understand) but if you go to class and pay attention then you can learn the material easily. The class starts with little work but will get to 3 assignments a week.

You should get an A if you put effort into this class. There are typically 2-3 quizzes due each week and I recommend to master each quiz because if you do the tests will be a piece of cake. He goes over test material and makes lecture fun. Although you don't have to go to lab everyday, you should because they go over the quizzes.

Was an easy course as long as you kept up with the work. He gives quizzes (unlimited attempts) and homework (join a groupme to check answers with others) every week so you need to keep up. He's a silly guy as long as you're respectful. He explains well and you can ask questions throughout class. Crucial to go to lectures to learn/know how to do hw)

I love this professor. He is awkward funny. Attendancenot mandatory but the way he teaches the lectures makes you understand. I wasn't great at math but I got an A with him. if you cannot attend lectures, he posts all the notes.Very responsive, I asked him for an old COVID audio lecture from a day i missed and he sent it to me and 10/10 professor.

Sosa's lectures are well-paced and easy to understand! He spends 10 mins each class talking about things that can be put in an email. 2 quizzes/1 hw due each week, 3 tests w/ a final that you can opt out of w/ an 80+ grade. At the end of the semester the assignments double and get overwhelming. Go to class and do your assignments early!

I took Math1324 during session 6 (mini-mester) which was about one month long. I would just like to say, this professor is amazing! His recorded lectures are incredible, he holds meetings twice a week, and is always reachable! If you are concerned about taking a month-long class, don't be! Sosa has got your back!

Took his class for Spring 24 as a mini session, dont recommend if ur not willing to study everyday. super fast paced, will have u busy af gets even faster end of sem. But if u study/ follow his roadmap, u will do great. Total of 10 meetings, 15 quizzes, 4 exams, 3 extra credit prac test, grade 80+ can exempt final. Got a 95 & i suck at math lol

It was an average class. Each week had one or two quizzes and a homework assignment. He posted the lecture pages, so I liked to teach myself first and then check my work with his lecture, but it seemed helpful even if you were learning about these concepts for the first time. You only need a B to exempt from the final. Pretty easy math credit.

Took him in the Spring semester. Provides extra credit opportunities for each test (4). Very clear grading criteria. There is a lot of work that YOU have to put in to get a high grade. Take him in person if possible.

Overall, Pr. Sosa introduced Calc 1 the best way I thought would not have been possible. Really I enjoyed this class as much as I did have my struggles and I would love to retake his class again if he taught 2 or 3. HIGHLY recommend to get Pr. Sosa for Calc 1 Immediately! Wont regret

I had a hard time taking this class in the past during the regular semester. I took Sosa for a condensed summer course(faster pace), and got a B. He is truly a fantastic professor.

His lectures and notes were organized, detailed, and easy to understand. Took this in the summer so there was no homework. Quizzes were not that hard. You can opt out of the final if you did well on the 3 midterms. There was a textbook but his notes were enough to understand the materials. The prof did a review before each exam. Good Professor!

The professor's teaching style takes some adjustment, but with diligent studying using resources like unstuckstudy ai, the class is manageable. Attend lectures and complete all assignments to succeed.

He's a great professor, so many jokes inside of the lectures. He teaches at a good pace and not too fast but the lectures are heavy, so get ready to do a lot of homework and studying in your own free time. It's my fifth week with him as my professor and I genuinely wish I could have him for all my future math classes as well. great guy.

Overall pretty good professor, pretty clear and concise; I really have nothing terrible to say about the professor himself, but the course load is a lot. There's a total of 36 quizzes and like 9 written homeworks, which during exam weeks will have like usually 12 pages of HW but everything is okay as long as your ontop of your deadlines

Sign up for this professor—he makes the material easy to understand. Complete the homework and quizzes (you get 20 attempts!), and he'll keep you on track about important dates. His test reviews are excellent, and the exams are very similar to the reviews. Plus, he offers extra credit on tests. You're almost guaranteed an A in the class.

Honestly pretty easy class as someone who is bad at math. I took it as a 4-week class, but I definitely could have gotten an A if it was a regular session. Professors has virtual meetings to go over problems, and a discussion board where students can help each other. The stuff on CASA online is actually useful, make sure you're taking advantage!

I loved professor sosa! if you have to take finite math i would 100% take the class in person with him. He makes it so easy to understand the material. You do have quite a bit of homework, but it is very helpful towards the exams. Overall, you have 3 exams and the final although you can exempt the final if you have an 80 or above on the class.

Best math professor. Took this as a Mini Winter session which definitely was not easy but his lectures made it possible. He explains content in a way that makes sense to those who struggle with understanding math. Take the quizzes and practice tests seriously and you will pass. Practice and repetition is key.

His lectures were very helpful and not hard to follow for me. There are 2-3 quizzes you will have to take each week online and some are a bit tough, but you have 10 tries for each. The homework is also designed to help you on the tests which, in my experience, are much easier than the quizzes. Overall, a nice class to have.

Probably one of the best math professors I've had so far. Practice exams are extra credit and are similar to the actual exams. So, I recommend you do them. If you have an 80 or above by the end of the semester, you can opt out of the final exam. Great teaching methods, and he takes the time to go over any concept you're stuck on after class.

Really silly and funny, but not the best at teaching. He would just read what's on the slides and solve the problems, which is why I skipped class a lot. Grade depends on quizzes, homeworks, 3 tests, and 1 final that you can opt-out of if u have an 80+. Material is a little difficult but do the practice tests and its an easy A.

Sosa is a good teacher with a great personality. Aside from that, he breaks down the material to the point where it's easy to understand and lectures are engaging. The material itself is also quite easy, so with a bit of studying, a good grade is easily achievable.

The best math professor I have encountered at UH.I am not the best at math and he does not judge when it comes to explain how basic math works. He stops constantly and make sure you processed all that was said and if there is confusion, without anyone saying anything he will repeat himself in a much simpler way to make sure you fully understand.

Hes a decent math professor who is light hearted and tries to make everyone feel comfortable. The material can seem like a lot especially when you have 3 different units on one test. You can opt out of the final if you maintain a B in the class. There is quite a bit of homework and quizzes due every week.

Attendance is definitely mandatory since he does not post the lectures/notes online. There are 2 test and a final but you can opt out of the final if your overall grade in that class is 80+.Before each test he releases a practice Test that is basically the same as the actual test and gives extra credit if you complete it.

I took his online Finite Math course. It was very well laid out and expectations are clear. His lecture videos were helpful, and working through the homeworks/quizzes made me more confident in my knowledge. Best way I found is to try to get ahead on the weekend so I don't have to worry about it during the week! Online Finite is the way to go!

Professor Sosa was an awesome professor. Although this course was an online lecture it was great course and the professor provided good feedbacks and understand the situation and the overall of this course is great. Overall, this was an awesome course. (Took it in Spring 2024)

Professor Sosa is great!! Very welcoming guy and is always willing to re-explain problems if students don't understand. There's weekly homework's and quizzes and 3 exam's. If you're passing the class by the end of the semester then you can opt out of the final! Would take his class again if I could haha.

literally the best professor at uh. he teaches very well and makes sure that you understand. exams are very similar to the practice tests, and he gives 5 points extra credit if you get a 100 on it. Overall, great class, minimal effort, and cool professor

I am terrible at math, but this class has been easy. The workload is kind of heavy but not that bad at all.

amazing professor and since most of his class is usually freshmen for this course he's very understanding and helps set the bar of uni. even tho attendance isn't mandatory he appreciates when u show up but if u don't make sure someone can send u notes cuz he won't post them. quizzes and hw and textbook on CCS so get CTAP. 10/10 amazing kind funny!!

The material isn't that difficult. The second test includes a lot of content though if you study for it ahead of time you'll do well.

Great professor. Material isn't too difficult and the lectures are pretty helpful, consisting mainly of going over notes and completing practice problems. He answers questions in a helpful and open way and is very understanding when students get lost.

Super easy class— the practice tests are basically the same as the real tests. Soses was okay, I thought his lectures moved a little slow and he has a tendency to go on tangents every now and then but it was nothing too bad. He doesn't release the note from class or have any online recordings though so you kinda gotta attend class.

Very good professor! Prepares you well for the exam. 5 points extra credit avilable on each test if you do practice test. I got 100s on all three exams just by spamming the practice test a couple days before. You can opt out of the final if you have a C or higher in the class. Highly recommend him!! very pleasent to talk to and understanding!

This class is very easy if you attend every lecture and pay attention. He is great at explaining concepts and gives bonus point opportunities for each test. He doesn't count attendance but if you miss class he doesn't post the notes so you'll likely have no clue what you're doing. There can be a lot of homework at times but it's pretty easy.

Sosa literally is so caring and helpful, his lectures can be fast but if you ask him to slow down or clarify something he will and be so nice about it. sm extra credit opportunities, tests exactly like practice tests, and 20 attempts on quizzes. the other finite sections had wayyy worse grades than ours and other profs can't compare lol. trust me.
