Brilliant Man with the thickest israeli accent!
Takes a long time to explain simple concept. Beware of his random cold calling!
He is very sarcastic... very blunt.. and likes to call on students a lot. believes in students learning things on their own.
Hagigi is undoubtedly brilliant, but he takes forever to explain one concept, and then doesn't really do a good job of it. He gets mad if you yawn in class (he stops class for this) or if you come late.
I am completely opposed to forced grading curves
Hagigi is simply the reincarnate of Jesus Christ. He believes..."You are all good people" and that, "Everyone in here is good student." Thick Israeli accent, coke in hand, this man is a genius. You either get it or you don't.
Mo, mo, mo, mo. Go Moshe. It's your birfday. Ehhhhhh Hagigi is good professor. He got a 39 on his first accounting exam now he teach accounting for 30 years. If you're tired, take a 2 min break.
very brilliant man. but somehow very unkind to students and very insensitive. once told students to put up their hands and ask questions if they dont understand, then on the same day told students he will not answer and repeat himself like a parrot
Hagigi is awesome, if you can't understand what he is teaching you shouldn't be in an accounting class. Very intelligent, does not teach from the book.
Hagigi is a god! I love this guy. Take this class and youll learn alot and have fun.
Good Prof, Goes really really slow, one topic per class. Allways cold calls so be ready, exams are really short but tend to be difficult. Prepares you well for the final. Does not teach from the book. if you need to talk to him, dont email, go see him.
The accounting dept is wacked. there is no standard accross the classes, no one learns the same thing. hagigi is kind of mean and makes you feel retarded every time he talks to you. but you have no choice so take it with him cause he writes the final
He cold calls alot, and even if you don't know it he makes you try to figure it out. His tests are difficult and while other classes get 2 hours for a test, he only gives 1/2 hour. Still tries to look out for the best interest of students though, and is a good guy at heart.
I like Prof H, but I don't think his teaching style is effective. He forces class participation, but then rejects questions when people WANT to talk. When you answer correctly, he asks someone else anyway. Also you have 0.8 secs to give an answer and if you even repeat the question, you're cut off. Tests are easy though - EXACTLY what's in class.
A pompous and condescending man. His "teaching" style is guaranteed to make any student neurotic.
Prof. Hagigi is a great guy- he expects a lot out of his students, but I feel that he wanted me to learn and learn WELL more than any professor i've had in SMG. His class can be tedius, as he cold calls, but he is great. Every time i zoned out he would call on me and bring me back- annoying at first, but beneficial in the end.Great sense of humor
A wise man, it doesnt seem like you are learning then in the end it all comes together
I agree, this man can be quite pompous at times, but its only because he's smarter than you are. He knows exactly what he wants to teach you and in his grand plan of things it works out. He tought you exactly what was on the tests. I couldn't stand this class for the first week but then had an epiphany. Moshe Haggigles is THE MAN!
A great professor.
Wants you to learn but doesn't like when you ask questions and never directly answers your Q. Calls on you when youre writing notes/explaining stuff to other students. Outwardly cold and insensitive, so it's offputting and you literally fear having to talk to him. Doesn't feel his students need help outside class, so he discourages office hrs.
He is very very nice guy, and he is very nice professor. He is very wise, and making students to participate by pointing out, really helps!
Hagigi rocks! He makes Accounting clear and simple. The tests are straightforward, no surprises. He teaches by class, not by the book. -Book is actually a waste of $250. He cold calls students, which keeps everyone involved and we took breaks every 30 minutes to "wake up" the class. I recommend him over all the other AC profs.
The greatest Accountign Professor I have ever had. Gives very practical examples and helps you think. Thank you Prof. Hagigi.
has selective hearing.
The Accounting Department should ease up on the grading. They should use 21st century criterion referenced grading rather than 60s norm referenced grading. I feel that the grading for this course is a major reason why BU grads have trouble getting top financial services jobs. The reputation BU's SMG has for tough grading hurts BU in nat'l ratings!
He is the best professor ever. Very cute little man. Doesn't matter what class it is, if he is teaching I will totally recommend it..... he strongly believes in giving people who work and show that they work hard in class good grades... so its kind of like, your grade is what you deserve. don't be afraid to work hard because you will be rewarded
Probably the best professor I had at smg. Definitely the best accounting course I have taken! Don't be discouraged by difficult the midterms. Hagigi is a very genuine person =)
After the first day of class with Hagigi, I was convinced I had to switch professors. This is definitely not a class you can slack off in. He cold calls on you a lot, so you have to stay alert too. However, he presents the material very well. Grades are given arbitrarily- take it from someone who failed a midterm and still got an A in the class :)
This class is hard. The group paper doesn't matter for your grade at all. The most important grade is the final; even if you've flubbed the 3 midterms, if you get an A on the final your grade for the semester will be very good because he just wants to make sure you know the material. He was a GREAT professor, but definitely challenging.
Prof. Hagigi is a great accounting professor. Attendance is not mandatory, but to do well in the class it is. Everything on exams has been gone over in class.Exams will be tough if skip class. Interesting material at the end of the semester. Never opened the book and did very well. Sit in the front and take VERY good notes.
I didn't think I was going to like accounting, but Hagigi is one of those teachers who can stimulate intrest on what I thought was an incredibly dry topic. He is really good at what he does. He really challenges his students to question and truly think rather than memorize and number crunch. He is an amazing professor, and I definately recomend him
Dr. Hagigi is a great guy who strongly desires for his students to learn concepts in simple terms. He is thorough in his explanations until all the students understand what is going on. Minimal assignments and easy tests (other than the final). Make sure to attend class, as this is the only way to get an A. (don't bother buying the book)
This is quite possibly the worst class at SMG I have taken. Hagigi does not teach at all, his classes are really boring to sit through, and he overall doesn't care about his students. Don't even think about e-mailing him because he never responds and never gives helpful aswers to ?'s. Also he cold calls for the full 90 minute class! Very annoying!
Pushing us hard to think and to understand what we do. Didn't like it at the beginning but now appreciate it. Learned a lot. Awesome professor.
He is the best for those who really desire to learn. Those who want an easy course should select another professor. I am sure that what I learned from him will help me soon in my work.
I absolutely love Hagigi! Tests are EXACTLY what is taught in class, so sit in the front (he talks softly) and take excellent notes. You only need to study your notes and his examples and you should be fine for the class! Final was somewhat tricky but nothing he did not teach you. Hagigi really wants you to succeed!
it was true that this professor cold calls on you; if you ask him to repeat the question, he will cut you off directly before you finish talkin'; it makes you feel embarrassed in front of the class; when you can't hear him because of his soft voice, he will not repeat himself and ask other studnets to repeat and ask you to sit in front; so listen
Professor Hagigi is THE MAN. I look forward to his class every week. He is without doubt one of the top professors at BU, and perhaps the best in SMG. He is extremely courteous, fair, and patient! It is quite obvious that he cares simply about helping students learn. I'm surprised when class ends it goes so fast, I never feel that way about class!
Professor Hagigi knows all of the material that is taught and most importantly he loves teaching. A professor is supposed to challenge his students in a just and fair way; and that is exactly what he does every class. Unfortunately some students are lazy and automatically assume that professors are out to get them when all they want to do is help.
Hagigi knows his material and takes time to teach it. Many students may find him intimidating but he's really a nice guy. Some midterms dont have partial credit - makes things tougher grade-wise. He wants his students to do well. But he never suggests additional problems to look over, even when asked. Some students may like him others not.
Hagigi was a TERRIBLE professor. He didnt use the textbook and he didnt teach. He gave us the material and expected us to understand it. He chose favorites and the people he liked did well. His exams were unfair. He had questions that were broken into sections and there was no partial credit. If you missed one part you were repeatedly punished.
Professor Hagigi was one of the best I have had at BU. He is very clear about what will be on the tests and expects you to apply the basic concepts we have learned in class. Participate in class; he likes to have students thinking and involved, so he doesn't lecture you everyday without humor about bonds (trust me it can be dry).
Professor Hagigi is one of the fairest teachers I have ever had. Just pay attention in class, take good notes, and you will do well. He has respect for his students and thinks they are intelligent enough to figure things out rationally rather than by using the textbook as a clutch. He's entertaining and keeps you engaged :)
difficult class. nice man. not great at explaining. tends to forget the beginning of his explanations and just jumps into examples. calls u out if your mind strays for 10 seconds. he knows exactly when u zone out. dont yawn, he hates ppl that yawn, stops class. ha. funny man though.
Funny guy but I really don't know what he wants. Don't take his class!
Hagigi is extremely scary at first, but once the semester starts rolling you get used to it. He's a great professor, wants you to do well. He cold calls on you, it's intimidating at first but then you realize that it's not so bad. He's fair, he's nice, but sit in the front, try to participate, get on good terms with him. He'll help you out.
Spots in Hagigi's class fill up extremely quickly-and for good reason! He is a thorough teacher and ensures that exam material matches notes taken in class. He makes the material stick in your brain by guiding students toward answers rather than simply lecturing. If given the opportunity, I will sign up for another Hagigi class in a heartbeat.
Pro. Hagigi is very good. he teaches us the real accounting rather than how to take the exam. he may have a lot pop-up questions, but they are really helpful for you thinking and absorbing the subjects. if you want to learn something worth your tuition, he will be your choice.
Professor Hagigi doesn't give partial credit on his tests, doesn't explain the concepts well, and calls on people who look like they're not paying attention consistently. He is unfair with the tests he gives out and doesn't give you practice exams like the other professors.
A very good professor w/ ample experience and knowledge. A detailed explanation of the subject. Open door policy. Lots of patience to students. Well prepared for the class. Extremely helpful. Take it if you want to learn and to understand accounting, bottom up. Don't take this course if you're not willing to put time and effort. "No free lunch".
Great prof. for those who would like to know acc' inside out. Demanding but fair. A good listner and with ample experience and willingness to explain the concepts over and over again. Very clear on the issues. Funny at times. Old school teacher that makes a difference. No nonesense. practical and straightforward. Liked the course and the prof.
This guy is hilarious. Good teacher overall, very clear concepts, great real world experience, have to work hard! Very understanding! Two claps for Hagigi!
The course is hard. Professors is good but with heavy accent. It takes a lot of time to do the homework and to be ready for the class. Accounting with Hagigi is recommended but be ready for call ups.
He has a very specific teaching style. Many didn't like it, but I appreciated it. If you pick things up easily and can figure things out for yourself, his tests are easier than other professors.
Great Professor, explains everything clearly, exams are exactly the same as the homework problems he gives out. Pay attention do the homework and you'll get an A.
Dr. Hagigi works very hard towards blocking students from asking questions, both after classes and during office hours. His strategies include sizing you up, distraction, information bombing, and various excuses to avoid answering.
Hagigi is great. Want to learn something then take him. Organized, very clear, uses commonsense and many eamples from real life. Encouraging students to ask questions and makes sure that his answers are clearly understood. But if you plan to miss classes and then ask him for a special office-hour just before exam then better select another professr.
Honestly cares about students and their understanding of the material. Takes time to actually explain concepts, and will answer any question you have. Doesnt rely too heavily on the textbook, teaches more than the basic debits and credits -- a broader understanding of accounting, and how it is applied in the real business world. A good professor.
I had never imagined that accounting can be so interesting. After covering the basic chapters the prof. introduced us to some very interesting topics and discussions and inspired us to think and not to accept everything that is written in the financial statements as true facts.
Prof. Hagigi is a great teacher and motivator. One of my best at Boston University. He cares about teaching and that we will understand accounting. Very demanding. Always ready to help and to answer questions. He hates tardy students and those who are coming to classes for fun, just to sit in. Thank you Hagigi!!!
Hagigi is THE professor for accounting! Demanding but fair. He repeats the concepts multiple times. Accounting basics for life. If you do the homework and listen in class you're on your way for a good grade. Hagigi likes winners, not whiners! Study well. Don't complain and you're good. The class with Hagigi is a good return on the money.
Professor Hagigi is extremely demanding, at times difficult to understand, and calls randomly on people. However, he knows the material, motivates students to learn the material not memorize, how it applies to real life, doesn't check hw, gives you lots of practice, and makes the exams! He is a great professor, grades fairly, and your BEST option.
If you want to understand real accounting applications take his class. People sometimes get frustrated with his teaching methods but that's because they don't pay attention. Just quickly review notes from last class before the next one and volunteer to answer questions so you dont get stuck answering something you dont know
Hagigi is my man! I love this professor. He has the experience and knows how to teach. Scary but fine. And he writes the exams and give the grades. If you want to know and understand accounting come to his class. The best SMG accounting guy.
Thank you hagigi for a great course. Didn't like the teaching style at the beginning but now knows accounting basics quite well. See you in the next accounting course.
This is a mandatory accounting course. Hagigi is extremely intelligent guy. An accounting guru. Expect cold calls. Demanding. Grumpy. No HW assignments to submit. Grading is fair. Don't take the course with inexperienced lecturers. Take Hagigi if you're seriously considering accounting. Like this professor.
One of the best professor's I had at BU. Hagigi keeps you focused by engaging the class and asking students for opinions. He understands the material extremely well, and in his class you learn real-life accounting - such as about adjusting financial statements. Very, very fair grader, tests are exactly like class. Best AC221 Professor BU offers.
You know what makes for a good prof? Someone who's both intelligent AND good at explaining. Hagigi brings both those qualities to his course. Very straightforward, very "real life" oriented. Cold calls A LOT but this keeps class engaged. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. And he favors kids that sit in the front. My first A at BU, thanks Hagigi!
Hagigi's exams are extremely fair. Do the "special problems" online. Fair grader. Thick accent and will blindly call on you. Is useless in office hours. Tells you to speak up when you can barely hear him talk. Grumpy, irritable, rude. Worst Professor I've had at BU.
Great guy but does not like people to talk among ourselves or to look at our phones. Therefore he call those who do not listen and ask them questions. Some people don't like it. He is the best! Explains with patience and with a lot of real world examples. Encourage people who are not doing well and helps them. Very high quality Standard.
Professor Hagigi is a genuinely good person that wants his students to do well. Will often cold call in class, but it keeps you prepared and forces you to pay attention. He teaches interesting material beyond what is necessary for the tests. Review past material before each class. I would recommend him to anyone interested in accounting or finance.
One of the best professors I've had. Made me go from hating accounting to wanting to take it as a concentration. Classes are engaging and office hours are helpful.
I really liked Hagigi! At first I was intimidated because he cold calls a lot. But if you show that you're paying attention, working hard, and go to a few office hours, he notices. He loves teaching and likes to see people putting in effort. Study from notes in class and you'll get a good grade!
Hagigi is the best! People think he cold calls and is rude but really he just wants to engage everyone. Accounting can be boring and he tries his best to keep everyone attentive. Go to office hours and only study from your notes! He notices people who put in effort.
Hagigi knows the material well and teaches it to his students well. He keeps his students engaged by calling on everyone to get their input. He often relates real-world scenarios to the theories we learn about in class. It would be nice if he gave partial credit on the first 2 tests, but other than that he is a good teacher
I learned in this class more than I did in any other class. I took accounting course before elsewhere but only now I feel that I really understand it. After getting used to his system and style I even enjoyed it very much.
Seriously a great professor. Definitely make sure to do the special problems and practice the textbook problems if you have the time.
Moshe is really a great guy, he just wants his students to do well. He focuses on making sure you UNDERSTAND rather than memorize the material. It took me a little while to warm up to him but once you get past his asking you to "please raise your voice," and the cold calling, the class is so helpful, just put in effort and pay attention!
Hagigi's the man. He's honestly one of the best professors I've had. Super interesting, very humorous, and extremely knowledgeable. Loved his class and really going to miss him next semester. Definitely Recommend!!
No sort of noteshandouts to speak of. Very unclear expectations of what he wants on the final. The book doesn't help very much either.
Challenging exams but very fair. I had difficulties at the beginning but he kept encouraging me and after I learned the system I enjoyed it very much, studied hard and did very well. Fantastic person and great professor but not for lazy people.
He is an incredible professor. He wants all his students to do well and he will work until everyone gets the material. Sure he does have an accent and sometimes he is hard to hear, but his unique and personal teaching methods make accounting actually enjoyable and interesting. His tests are kind of difficult but very fair. I would highly recommend.
His teaching style is awful, people cannot understand, and he does not teach anything about the concept in the textbook, just letting students read the solutions, he is an awful professor, don't take his class.
Very nice professor. Last final exam I saw student using her cell to communicate with another one. They were caught and expelled from school. No doubt they are unhappy and maybe wrote very bad things about him. Do not play games with him. He is very nice but do not underestimate him. I learned a lot from him.
Right! The one who wrote the negatives on 101015 is cheating. She did not take AC221. I took this class with the professor and he hardly discussed the home work In class as he posted the solutions on the internet. Instead, he presented additional special problems in class. Hagigi is outstanding for those who really want to study. He is the best!
Hagigi is a nice guy. Everything you do in class is on the exam but he doesn't give clear practice problems and only teaches through examples. For some it's easy but it was definitely my hardest class this semester. He's not really available outside of the classroom and cold calls during class which is tough.
Great professor and a nice guy. I could never imagine that accounting can be so interesting and challenging. He made us think rather than memorize mechanically, and explained complicated issues in a simple common sense way using a lot of interesting examples. Demanding exams but very fair. A great learning experience.
I learned a ton about accounting this semester and I truly understand the material. Hagigi is so good at teaching and explaining the concepts and is funny at the same time.
At first I was so intimidated by him because he cold-called me A LOT ! However, as the semester went by, I started to appreciate him cold calling me all the time because it made me focus more in class. No homework at all, just study he worksheet in class and you will get an A easily. Focus and dont skip his class and you will do well
I never opened the book. Take extra good notes in class. Sometimes he's a little hard to follow so you have to focus. If he doesn't go over it in class then it's not on the exam. Also, do the special problems he posts online. Those problems are always on the exam, just with different numbers. It's easy to pass, just study your class notes.
I had a very successful job interview. The interviewer was very impressed with my accounting knowledge and their financial analysis implications, all of which I got in Professor Hagigis AC348 class. Thank you professor!
Pay attention in class and you'll be fine. He cold-calls, but it just makes you pay attention. He explains the concepts well, just sit close to the front because he speaks kind of softly. Overall great class and you'll actually learn financial accounting, unlike a lot of the other sections.
a really great professor who likes to make sure you understand the material. he does cold call, but he's nice and helps you out if you don't know the answer. he also doesn't like to trick his students and instead cares more about their learning
My opinion of him has changed tremendously since the beginning of the semester. At first I didn't think he wanted to help me but I was proven wrong. After going to his office hours a couple times he explained everything very clearly. He makes sure everyone understands the material. He has turned out to be a great professor!
He is a great teacher. He explains the material with a lot of clarity. His tests are specifically related to the material covered in class. Just make sure you actually take good notes and study the notes well. He is very funny and makes this material much more entertaining than it should be.
Best professor at BU! He is very knowledagble and inspirational. Gives clear examples and will explain/repeat as many times as you need. Be sure to take great notes because his tests are based off his examples in class. i loved him!!!
Hagigi is the man! He doesn't talk loudly in class so make sure you sit in the front. His exams are pretty easy if you study the materials he gives out. Doesn't use much textbook, and mostly rely on the blackboard.
He is a great professor that very cares if you understand the topics or not. Does not use the textbook at all, so go to class. The exams are exactly the same as the exerciese he gives as examples in class, so they are very easy. No mandatory attendance, but will be salty with you if you ask questions but do not attend classes regularly.
Great professor. Exams are mostly on the homework questions. Lecture is sometimes confusing because of his handwriting. A little subjective in giving exam and final grades. Overall, a great professor.
outstanding professor. If you genuinely want to learn - take him. If you study regularly - you'll do very well. He does not give the questions of the final in advance but is very faire and clear. If you are lazy - don't take him because he is demanding and want us to think and not to memorize. He helped me a lot his office hours. Very nice person.
Professor Hagigi is a great professor in the accounting department. He really cares about his students and gives good lectures. Excellent quality of lectures that you must attend and take. TAKE his course if you can.
Hagigi teaches straightforward. Whatever he goes over in class is what is exactly on the exam. No homework, but there's about 3 exams then the final. He is reasonable and appreciates those who show interest and are trying their best. Go to his office hours! They help you prep for the exam and he answers any questions you have.
One of the worst professors I've ever had class with. His classes are so strict, he doesn't let students do anything. Talks super quietly yet repeatedly yells "speak louder please!" when students talk. Constantly calls on people in class but doesn't let them answer the question. Thick accent no one understands anything. Do not take class with him
Professor Hagigi is my favorite teacher at BU. His teaching style forces students to pay attention and actually understand the material. The people that do not like his teaching style are not there to learn. If you go to class prepared and listen to everything, you will not only do well on the exams but also gain a real understanding of accounting
This is the worst professor I ever had. I don't understand how any student likes him. He doesn't care about the course it seems as if he's just showing up. Terrible organization skills, only has one office hour! I literally had to teach the course to myself do yourself a favor and don't take his course.
Hagigi is clearly my best professor at BU. I came to his office hours some times on Fridays and also sometimes after classes and he explained me very patiently and clearly everything. He is a very nice person but he is not right for lazy people.
Hagigi is a very traditional and kind professor. He speaks very softly, so be sure to sit in the front of the classroom. His exams are basically the class worksheets and example problems. Attend his office hours and he will explain the concepts very clearly and effectively. He wants you to learn and succeed rather than memorize and pass.
Easily one of the best professors. I did not like Hagigi at first because he cold calls on everyone but he places a huge emphasis on understanding the material and not memorizing. Tests are very fair; if you do the homework and pay attention in class you will do well. Participation is very important to him. Only need the book for summer work.
I have learned so much in his classes. He motivated us to think and to understand rather than to just memorized. It was hard at the beginning but once I got used to his system it was enjoyable. He is very intelligent and helpful to those who really want to learn. I like him and appreciate him a lot.
Hagigi's lectures are technically not required, but you will want to go to lecture. He speaks very soft so you wanna be near him when he talks. He's very knowledgeable go to his office hours he likes that.
one of the most genuine people I have met at Boston University. He truly cares about his students and wants you to do well. If you show you want to do succeed, he will help you. the class does not have any outside work, so it is heavily exam based. However, the exams are fair and everything that we go over in class. Highly recommend taking hagigi
Hagigi is an excellent teacher that is always there to help you when you have questions. Be sure to go to office hours with specific questions since he does a great job answering them. Unlike a lot of teachers that just want you to memorize the material, Hagigi genuinely wants his students to truly understand the material. I would take him again
Professor Hagigi is one of best professor I have had at Boston University. He is a genuine person and cares for his students. His lectures keep you attentive and make for an easy understanding of the material. He is available for office hours every week and even accommodates students with time conflicts. Take his class, you won't regret it!!
The name Financial Accounting sounds quite math heavy, but I quickly learned that this class revolves around logic. Hagigi is a very strong lecturer, with an awesome sense of humor. He highly values participation, so make sure to make an effort in class. If you read briefly for class, participate frequently, and do well on the final, its A season
He was a great teacher. I thought I'd hate accounting but I loved the class because of him. 10/10 recommend him to anyone. I do wish he was more flexible to meet outside class hours though.
Incredible professor, a little more challenging than other professors but genuinely wants you to learn and use your logic. Very engaging lectures and very helpful to go to lecture.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. He is the worst teacher I've ever had. To be blunt, he is horrible; i'm speechless that these ratings have wrongfully enhanced his lackluster and unintelligent teaching style. I knew absolutely nothing for the final - nothing - and I got a B in the class - meaning knowing nothing was average.
Never had a professor who talked as softly as hagigi. In order to actually hear him you have to be in the front row. That being said, he's not a bad lecturer and will take the time to help you outside of class.
His written class note is very important because he has no slides. He makes his own exams and all based on his class notes. He is smart but supposed you knew everything. But he is nice and explain the concepts clearly. You can find TA if you are confused with some materials.
For the love of god please don't take this course. Hagigi is not the worst professor in the world, but the entire experience of his class is bewildering. You will feel like you're on another planet for an hour and fifteen minutes. He asks rhetorical questions that are just impossible to interpret. I am at a loss as to why his score is so high.
I am mid-semester in his class and have an A. I am very confused as to why his rating is so high. I have self-studied to get where I am at the moment, and owe absolutely none of my understanding of this class to him. Professor Hagigi is nice, yes, but he answers questions with other questions and never gives straightforward answers. NOT recommended
I learned so much from professor Hagigi. He challenges us and usually does not give the answer directly but leads us to the answer through his questions. This way we understand better. He is teaching at a high level and for some it is difficult. Take him only if you really want to learn!
Hagigi is a very nice and knowledgeable but may be hard to adjust to in the beginning. He uses discussion and examples instead of ppts. Midterms are easy: do the practice examples and go over lecture notes. Final is more challenging but if you go over your notes and google anything you don't understand, you'll do fine.
Hagigi's class is like something out of an abstract-movie; he broaches topics in class that extend far beyond the AC221 curriculum, and focuses on these abstract concepts during exams--which are not scaled. If you're willing to work like a horse, this is the professor for you; if not, steer clear.
Hagigi is very soft spoken and loves to cold call on students, especially if he knows they do not know the answer. His lecturing styles may take some time to adjust to but overall he explains concepts in a very clear and easy to comprehend manner. The exams are essentially homework assignments with different numbers.
He will make you regret to choose Accounting as a major. He is softspoken which you can barely hear what he was talking unless you sit at the front roll and his handwriting is really hard to read. He spends half of the class basically reading the homework answer. If you he is your professor, you are all on yourself.
Professor Hagigi really cares about the students. Yes, he will challenge you all the time. However, it's for the best interest of you. However, I do hope his class is be more structured.
His class is super confusing. You have to learn all of the material by yourself. He is the worst lecturer I have ever seem.
No nonsense professor. He helped me a lot once he noticed that I am motivated. A very bright and nice person who teaches at a high level and yet simplifies complicated issues. If you are not serious about learning don't take him. Great class! Thanks professor!
He is tough, but fair in making you sure you know the material by heart and he will help you in office hours if you put in the time and effort.
He is by far the best professor that I have ever had. Teaching advanced material by simplifying it and using examples. Very helpful but insisting on keeping high level.
I took Hagigi for his run of the mill accounting class during the summer. Before I took this class, I was told he was the "best of the worst". I can confirm this; Questrom has a weak accounting apartment, Hagigi is no allstar but he probably is the best option. His class is hard, his exams are hard, he isn't very clear, but he's good hearted.
Hagigi's class is a disaster. I don't know why his rating is so high. In his discussion, you can barely hear what he says unless you sit right in front of him. He also does not give any valuable instructions on what he will test on the exams.
Great teacher one of the bets
The best professor I have taken a class with at BU. I honestly don't know how people can complain about him. He engages students in discussions without embarrassing them and repeats difficult concepts multiple times until everyone understands these concepts. Those who cannot do accounting with Hagigi should consider studying something else.
I took Hagigi for AC221 as well and he's very nice, but he is really difficult to learn from. He's practically whispering during lecture and has no idea how technology works. The concepts are difficult and he doesn't make them much easier - I had to reteach myself everything. Also, he has some of the hardest exams I've ever taken.
Professor Hagigi talks really soft and quiet so I did have trouble listening to him even I was sitting in the second row in his class. Also I had trouble understanding him since he has some kind of accent. However the good thing is that he actually puts everything he taught in the midterm and exam. So just simply review your notes for tests.
Professor Hagigi is one of the best professors I've ever had, even with the tough transition to online schooling. He is very patient and genuinely wants everyone to understand. If you need help, he will help and not put you down. Take Dr. Hagigi. Of course you need to pay attention but isn't that with all professors?
Although his teaching style might be hard to get used to at first, Hagigi really cares about how well his students do in class. Be sure to listen in class because he cold calls on you A LOT. His office hours are very helpful. Also, he might give you a grade bump if he sees you work really hard in class.
Hagigi tries his best, and he wants you to learn. However, he is disorganized (no slides, he writes everything), DEFINITELY has favorites, and isn't good with technology. He will cold call you via zoom and make commentary if you yawn or look bored and sometimes will tell you to smile which is inappropriate. his exams are hard and confusing.
Professor Hagigi is a nice guy that is willing to reexplain topics, but his teaching style is dated. He pretty much only used one note and he has no slides. Exams share the same topics as the HW, but is not worded in the same format and is usually much harder than the HW assigned. Prepare to get cold-called in his class too.
He cold calls on you which forces you to pay attention in class. Sometimes he teaches stuff that he says won't be on the exams but are useful to know. Hagigi can be a bit disorganized but it's not a big issue when you get used to his teaching style. His notes are pretty useful.
he's honestly a super nice guy and tries to help everyone. he does cold call to make sure you're paying attention. he seems mean, but he's actually pretty nice. read the homework before class and you should honestly be fine.
Hagigi is the most caring professor I have had in Questrom. He cares about his students and their education more than most professors I've experienced. He cold calls a lot, but he wants everyone to contribute, is nonjudgmental, and stresses that accounting is an art. Exams are made easy; they only consist of the main ideas. No tricks at all.
Prof Hagigi is awesome and hilarious as hell. It might take a while to get used to his way of teaching, which is very heavily based in participating in class. He puts so much effort into making sure every individual student understands the material. He will cold call you, but he always makes sure that getting an answer wrong is okay. Great prof.
Be aware there would be no curve in his class and be ready to answer lots of questions asked by him. It would be very hard to review for his final because there is no practice exam and he will not tell what will be on the final. So be prepared to be surprised by the final exam.
Old school teaching: No lecture or textbook. He really cares about each individual students cares about understanding why we do what we do rather than just how to do it. However, he assumes too much in the students understanding of the content. Class itself can be dry and slow, but it definitely picks up. Based on 4 quizzes, final, participation.
Midterms are easy and only accounts for 30% of your grade (15%+15%). Final exam turns out to be extremely difficult and is 50% of your grade . If you are not looking for CPA, don't take this class.
Hagigi cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Go to class and you'll do well on exams, he does the exam problems in class just take notes. Speaks quietly but I sat in the front, cold calls but makes you feel okay to be wrong, he creates a safe space for students, go to office hours he is so sweet!
The unreadable handwritten notes with the soft-spoken lectures were incredibly hard to learn from. There was no way for you to study for any of the tests properly because none of the homework was related and he doesn't save his notes and had no slides, PLUS would give absolutely no information about the test. Dropped.
His tests are completely different than the other accounting professors. He designs his own exams and they have no similarities to the hw which makes it impossible to study for. His lectures are VERY difficult to understand and does not use slides, only hand writes and speaks incoherently. Choose literally any other professor for accounting.
I thought I's hate this class based on the first day, but I'm so glad I took Hagigi. WILL cold call constantly, but it helps your learning and you'll get used to it. Exams are paper while other profs do online, but Hagigi will give credit for showing work. If you're ok with being called on and want advanced subjects, I'd really recommend.
Hagigi is the GOAT! If you want to do well in this class you really need to participate, and he likes to cold call. This keeps you engaged. He's also tenured, so he has his own curriculum, test are on paper and he gives you partial credit. Really nice guy and remembers everyones name.
Prof Hagigi has a unique teaching style that takes some getting used to, but he genuinely cares about student understanding. The exams can be challenging, but using unstuck AI alongside the textbook helps with prep.
Hagigi is the BEST! I love this man he is literally so cute he reminds me of my grandpa. He's super caring and wants you to actually understand. Hagigi is also funny without even trying. Take his course!!! His exams aren't hard either. If you listen in class and take notes, you're already in a really good spot.
A great professor who taught me a lot, even about shorting: prepare for exams through rewatching lectures, especially for midterms, finals are different.
Hagigi has definitely been one of my most unique professors in Questrom. He is very old-school and loves cold-calling/interactive lectures. Midterms weren't bad, but DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE FINAL, it was probably my hardest at BU and tanked my grade. With Hagigi you will learn a lot about accounting, but you really have to earn your grade.
Class was a grind, but participating made all the difference. People will act surprised when he would be upset that they didn't do the homework - like are we 5 years old? Nobody cares if you got it wrong btw, and he never would knock down anyone for trying.
He is a super nice guy he can just be hard to understand and struggles to understand the questions of students, so if you don't get something off the bat and the textbook doesn't explain it well either, it makes it very hard to learn that thing.
This class gave me the most anxiety out of all the classes I've taken at BU. He cold calls in class and does not upload some slides he used in class. Midterm can be a hit or miss as it is similar to homework questions, but some details in questions can throw you off guard.
For a final worth 45% of the grade, this level of difficulty is unacceptable. Some of the questions we have never practiced before, but he claimed all questions are from something we've done in class. I basically taught myself the entire class material.
This should be a master-level course, but the lectures just repeat introductory accounting concepts, and he quizzes are also very easy. All those things will fool u. The final tests a lot of content not taught in class, based on an unstated expectation that you self-study everything. And ur grade is mostly depend on the final!
The final is worth 45% and tests understanding rather than rote memorization of journal entries, which is common in the Questrom curriculum. To best prepare do the textbook homeworks and really understand why things are the way they are.
