Extreamly difficult. Avoid if at all possible.
Do not take this class. Not with this instructor anyway. Take it at a different school if you must. This was the worst "learning experience" I have had in 2 years of schooling.
Try to take it online if possible. Read and do quizzes and you should be alright.

Excellent teacher. Very passionate about what he does and conveys it well to students
Difficult to follow at times, but is willing to help. Overall, the class isn't too hard, just stay caught up in the textbook, and you'll be fine.
Extremely knowledgable on subject. I think there was too much weight assigned to the HW's and taking notes in class did not help me one bit, by the end of class my notes resembled scribbles so I stopped taking them. A 5min concept took 45min. Not enough info was covered as a result. Would like more structured lect.late papers shouldnotgetfullcredit
Mr.Sebti needs to stick with what the book and give an understanding examples for the class. Try not make the class not confusing but, easy understanding. Don't make the test difficult to understand what you are talking about or don't use big words that other don't understand. More class activities and group activities.
Mr. Sebti, i believe knows what he is talking about, but his class style is stupid. It's basically an online class with Lecture style everything. I think he should just stick with the book and go on an indepth discussion of the chapters. I learned nothing but to take my quizes with an open book.
Dr. Sebti is an patience and helpful instructor. if you are gonna to take his class, dont be too serious about his humour, which merely for fun, no malice... never forget to submit all your assignments and quizzes on time. i lost half of the letter grade because of a stupid assignment. Have Fun!!!
Dr. Sebti did an excellent job of connecting the classroom concepts to real-world situations. It's one thing to learn economics, but when you see how it relates to your everyday life it becomes much more interesting.
His lectures don't relate to the test. He is French Morracan and was hard for me to understand. I took notes, never missed a class, read all the chapters, and studied long hours for the exams and barely passed the test. It shouldnt be that way. You usually get out of a class what you put in, not in his class!
His lectures were not relevant to the material.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. I never missed a day of class, had a real interest in the study before the class and left HATING it! I have never made less than an A in any class or on any assignment until Sebti....dunt dunt dunnnnnnnn (scary music) AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Went to his office once onlt to be kicked out!
Good man who will work with you--likes job and is a natural teacher
Too cute, loved the accent it made him irresitable to listen to
BORING! this class was a waste of time. Everything that matters is done online. Lectures are off the wall! All you have to do is memorize quiz questions to get an A --- no learning needs to take place. CTC should really stop paying for horrible teachers.
My mom used to tell me if I didn't have anything nice to say, then I shouldn't say anything. I'll leave it at that.
Dr Sebti is a great professor. His accent is thick, but if you read the book prior to class you will be able to keep up just fine. He is patient, understanding, and very knowledgeable about life and economics. His class moves rapidly and it's easy to get behind since most of your coursework is done online. Students should do great in his class.
Class lectures very interesting but did nothing to help pass test. There should be at least a few actual quizzes in class prior to midterm, just so the class gets a feel of what the midterm is actually like. Never buy the textbook unless you have the whole packet, to include cd. The class should be advertised as an on-line course.
His lectures are convaluded and difficult to follow, not because of his accent, but because he jumps all over the place. Most of the class is done online, like everything else at CTC. At least he doesn't take attendance-that's a reprieve. The midterm and final come straight from the on-line quizzes, which makes for an easy A.
lots of work!
Dr.Sebti is an awesome teacher always responded to emails in a timely manner. I took both ECON 01&02 recieved A's in both classes. Take this class work is not hard and an easy A!!!!
As a person, Dr. Sebti is a good guy. However, I think he may be in the wrong profession. I went into this class enjoying the subject, and now I am in pure hatred of it. I am not stating this because of my grade, I got an A. Simply put, I taught myself this class, not sure what hes paid for. Not Recommended. Paralysis by analysis!!!
I loved his class and the man is gorgeous has a wonderful french accent and loves his subject. Breaks the book down into real life. Many can't follow him because he simplifies book doesn't parrot it. Also if you need help he is ALWAYS willing. Want to understand how government and money work do take this class. But put your work in.
Great teacher, he's very helpful and understanding. If the material is difficult to grasp he ensures he explains it enough to where everyone can comprehend. Exams and course material are not hard at all because he goes over everything very well.
You should take this class ONLINE. Lectures were hard to follow and trying to take notes is useless. All work is using course compass online. Attendance was not taken so most students only came on test days. I wasted my time going to class twice a week. Tests come straight from quizzes. Overall I taught myself.
Online class was so easy! Material straight out of the book. You have 3 opportunities for each quiz and midterm and final non-proctored. ONLINE CLASS IS THE WAY TO GO FOR ECON!
He never answers an email.. No matter how much you request help or anything he never answers you at all. He is useless and lacks communication skills. He really has no buss teaching at a community college.
WORST. PROFESSOR. EVER. He doesn't lecture... he babbles. And the babbling has nothing to do with his subject. You shouldn't have to sturggle to connect a lecture with the suject you are taking. You will teach yourself in this course. Worst of all? He's the only prof. who teaches macro and micro on campus. Take it online... or on Ft Hood. Trust me.
WOW, yes, he's really hot! I do like economics now....not before. Mostly only went to his class because he was so good looking.
He is boring in class but has a French acsent that's cool. He pretty much gives you the test before you have to take it!!! You just take 15econ labs and then abiut 15 mult choose quizes that you can take iver and over and over and each time you finish it tells you if your wrong or write (which you want to print it's the exams) and a lot if extra credit i have so many points after mid term that i dont have to take the final and ill still have an A... And im a lazy student... It's an easy class
very fair teacher. Tells you exactly what is expected and what you need to do to pass. He leaves it up to your efforts to pass or fail.
Great instructor. His lectures are real life not from the book so you must read it for yourself for the Quizzes and Labs in Course Compass. Midterm and final come from Quizzes. He is willing to help and is understanding of unexpected situations that may happen if you talk to him. I would take him again.
I took ECON online and got a D+ so I decided to retake the class but in the classroom setting. I did so much better with a lecture and explanation rather than learning it on my own. Professor Sebti is one of my favorite teachers. He demonstrates how much he loves his job in every lecture.
easy but boring
ECON 2301 and 2302, If you pay attention in class and read the book you will pass this class. Teacher is great with working with you if you present yourself in a positive manner in class. Online does not require MyEconLab, in class does require it.
The class is very boring. He hardly uses the book and when he does he reads it to you. Class is spent looking at incomprehensible diagrams he draws on the board. Class discussion is encouraged, but only if you agree with him. Very liberal viewpoint. If possible, take the class online and save yourself some disappointment with his "teaching".
This class can be a challenge for anyone who does not already possess an affection for the subject. If you know nothing about Economics already, and/or it's not a requirement for your degree programme, err on the side of caution and either take it online, or not at all. Dr. Sebti seems like he knows a lot about the subject, however is a bit jaded
Class was very challenging. Discrepancies between the book and what was said in class lead to a lot of frustration. He is a very sweet guy and really does try hard to explain things to you but the language barrier can prove to be a challege. Although with hard work you can pass this class. Just read the book and study.
This guy is really awesome. Knows a lot of stuff about economics. Finals are the same questions as HW quizzes. Just read the book, its more helpful than him but I truly enjoyed his class lectures. Easy A. Do extra credit too.
Professor Sebti wasn't very helpful at all. His french accent poses a problem in understanding a subject that is already difficult. He talks in circles and ultimately expects you to understand what he is talking about, by writing endless notes on the white board, etc. Not much focus on terms and concepts - mainly on mathematics. Take online!
Since this class was taken online it maybe made it more difficult for me. I was already not the best with math and this class focused a lot on math rather than terms. I would recommend taking it in class just based on the math but for everything else online is fine just study.
He tries his best to teach, I myself understood him perfectly, but I do understand that it could be confusing for someone who doesn't know a thing about the subject, because he tries to explain as easy as possible giving some examples on real life, which make it even more difficult for a student who has to be taught the basics, 10 times to get it.
Super Boring maybe because I have no intrest in the subject, but very boring! Midterm & Review where the same exact questions from the quizes. You also have to write a paper on a subject of Econ. Make sure you don't loose your schedual of all your due dates because he won't remind you!
I took this for ECON1 and got a good grade. Study the quizzes because the midterm and final are the same questions! Most of class he talks about his stories and asks a lot of questions.I find it most of the time boring and I'm teaching my self but it is an easy class to pass if you do the quizzes and study them! There is also a paper but it is easy.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE UNLESS YOU ARE GOOD AT MATH! This was the ONLY class I received a C in, as it was a lot of complex math and a lot of reading. I kept up with the reading, but when I asked for help, he never responded. I contacted him many times, in many ways, and never got a response. I do not recommend this teacher.
I found the class difficult even though I received an A. Instructor offers extra credit, definitely worth doing. Was a midterm and a final both proctored, questions are from the chapter quizes so print them up and study. Was an easy paper to write as well. I found the teacher to be rude and useless, it's just you and the computer for the class.
Hard class, proctored tests. Paper was easy. There is enough extra credit to help get an A in the class. The tests are open book and notes, so make sure you get the information you need from the weekly quizes because they are the same as the tests.
Horrible professor, goes on and on about whatever he feels like. Will keep you past the time. great if you like wasting your time. save yourself and take it online with anyone but. All of the stuff is done online anyway. Shame on me for letting him waste my time.
Mr. Sebti explains what each chapter is about in real life terms, but it is up to you to keep up with your quizzes and due dates. He offers a lot of extra credit and tests are right from quizzes. Make sure you print the quizzes off so you get high scores on your tests. So if you take him seriously he will take u seriously
Read your chapters and bring your questions to class. Dr. Sebti opens every class with Q&A session. Can't ask if you don't know. Quizzes can be a little challenging, but you get two chances. Make sure you read and you'll do fine. Dr. Sebti brings the street version (real life) to what could be a boring subject.
Dr. Sebti is an amazing professor. He is very knowledgeable about the subject , and is always willing to help you. The class was very easy the midterm and finals are the same as the quizzes, so I see no point of failing there!
Take this class online! The lectures have NO RELEVANCE to the material on the exam. You take quizzes on BB, you get the answers straight out of the book, and the exam questions are taken directly from them. The lectures are torture! They're boring, useless, and he has these phrases that he repeats after every sentence. It's just too much.
Pretty easy. Dr. Sebti gives your plenty of notes, and videos to learn the material. The quizzes are the same for mid-term and final. Gives extra credit as well. Will take again for ECON 2302.
Sebti is one of the most boring teachers I have ever taken. He goes over the same material so many times. But, his class is an easy A. Both the midterm and the final come word for word from the quizes online. After he grades them you can go in and see the correct answers. Use those as a study guide and there is no reason to listen in class.
It was a good course, very understandable if you take Macro first. I Macro class I took in house was OK but boring. Dr. Sebti talks a lot about the stock market and little about what you need to know on the test. However he does tell you every thing from the quiz's are what the test is all about.
Third week of class and we're only on page 30 (!) of the textbook. Sebti spends most of his time talking about the stock market or whatever else he pleases. I've learned more by reading the textbook and doing the homework than I have attending class.
Take this course online!!! Do not suffer through the lectures when you can easily use your book online
took him online for 2301 and 2302, super easy. midterm and final are from his previous quizzes. DOES NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK, so make sure you read the syllabus. replies to emails and messages through blackboard, but sometimes he can be rude. Overall and easy A course so its worth taking.
The most important in this class is the chapter quizzes (online) try to get the highest score possible (you have 2 chances per quiz). The quizzes are use for the mid-term exam and the final. You can google the questions of the quizzes if the textbook does not provide you the right answer.
Dr. Sebti provides his students with real-world examples for ideas expressed in the textbook. His lectures are more about converting the textual ideas into practical examples so reading prior to class is required. Dr. Sebti has a great sense of humor, is fair, open-minded and willing to meet students after class to answer questions.
Professor Sebti is an extremely brilliant man! Sometimes you will feel lost in class because he's teaching something that seems like it doesn't fit, but it does so pay attention. The quizzes are the tests so study them and study well. Ask questions on the essay paper and turn it in early to have him give you feed back. Use his office hours.
Quizzes are word for word the tests- memorize quizzes and you'll be fine. No need to panic. Tests are NOT proctored, but wording is tricky when reviewing that info- I'm already signed up to take another class he teaches
As other have said, the tests are taken verbatim from the homework assignments on Blackboard. If you memorize the answers to the homework, you know the answers to the tests. Sebti gives a lot of extra credit plus more on the final exam. Pass the tests, do the extra credit, and ECON 2301 is as near a fail-proof class as you can get.
Do not take this class on campus. Based on others feedback, his online class is basically the work we did... without having to listen to another story about his kids, or politics, or religion, or anything else not related to economics.
When you take the class online be sure to go by the dates on the syllabus and mark them on a calender. I usually look at the "My grades" section and see what needs to be done that week. I missed the midterm and two quizzes bc they did not show on the my grades sections as upcoming and when they were due! Points that I could not get back! :(
Read the book and google the questions you have because the book does not cover all the questions you have to answer in the quizzes online. You have to write a short research paper. You have two exams in the class mid & final. The exams are base on the quizzes very easy. I took 2301 & 2302 and got an "A" on both classes.
I took Sebti for 2301 and his classes are the same. In class "lectures" are as pointless and rambling as ever. Good luck to anyone figuring out what ettouffee, ZZ Top, or MH 370 has to do with economics (I can't). It's a shame Sebti is the only Economics teacher on the main campus. Students in his classes have to do a lot of self-teaching.
Professor Sebti is an inspirational man. He'll share his experiences and try to relate it to the course. Prepare to work really hard for your grade. Definitely DO NOT miss assignment deadlines. Has extra credit to make up for it though. No tolerance for being late to class or tests. His teaching is a bit confusing so the book is the holy grail
Mr. Sebti was an amazing instructor! He offers plenty of extra credit and will be there to answer any of your questions. You can tell he loves what he teaches and as long as he sees that you are putting in effort, he will do what he can to help you. I loved taking his class and will be taking him again for ECON2302.
He was a bad professor. He did not accept my paper and it cost me big time. I had to then repeat the class. Went from a D to an all because of my hard work. He did nothing to help me. Worst thing is that I finished the paper he just would not accept it since it was one day late.
does not provide material needed to know as well as off topic 90% of the time because he gives more examples than information so it gets very confusing. learned majority of material through online assignments
Dr Sebti has a hard time getting his point across in lectures therefore you have to teach yourself and study the quizzes for the midterm and final (Only two tests in his class) Thankfully he gives extra credit to help you get by because he wants all his students to pass. I wish there was another teacher to take, but he is tolerable. Very passionate
This guy is the SME when it comes to Economics. The thing I like about Doc Sebti is that even though he has a PhD, he doesn't act like it. He is down to earth and will explain things to you. He keeps his political views out of class, which is good. He talks about the numbers, and numbers don't lie or tell political party.
Hard work and a lot of lecturing but overall a great teacher. Fair and honest.
I took Dr. Sebti for both econ classes, and he is great. Considering that my courses were online, he was very easy to reach out to if there was an issue or confusion. As long as you do all of your work and start on papers at least couple of weeks prior the due date, you shall pass!
Tests are worded weird. Often enough the homework doesn't really correlate to what is in the book. Good person, teacher skills are odd.
His teaching is odd. I had to teach myself because he went out of subject a lot. Thankfully there is a lot of homework, quizzes, and extra credit and one research paper. DO IT ALL! And try your best on it! Because at the end of the semester if you have an A, youre exempt. He also shows the tests before to avoid anxiety which I loved.
Sebti, though respected, is not preferable for those who dislike reading. He lectures every class period, but the lectures do not carry pertinent information to your grades. !!!! Pay attention to the homework !!!! The quizzes are fully based on questions from Aplia. Also, if you miss a homework assignment, you WILL have a lowered grade.
Sebti is the worst professor I have ever had because his metaphors are horrible and the lectures are boring. The only thing that will save you is the Aplia questions and chapter quizzes. You have to read the book or just the chapter PowerPoints he uploads. However, there is extra credit, lots of bonus points, midterm, research paper, and final.
Seems like a good guy but an awful professor. Could not find myself intrugued by his lectures at all. He never spoke on anything that was relevant to the homework or the exams for that matter. Told jokes most of the time that were not humourous at all. It was just an unpleasant class all together and a waste of my time.
He was difficult and passionate about the class. However, there is much to learn from him.
This professor was hard to understand and would often use sport analogies that often did not make sense. Constantly talked about family, and non-related topics. Gave lots of extra credit but did not explain any work in class until it was time to take Midterm and final exams. All assignments are online and DOES NOT TOLERATE DEVICES OF ANY KIND.
Dr. Sebti's class is pretty straight forward. He has quite a lot of online assignments on MindTap. If you do the work and understand the concepts, you should be fine on the tests. The tests are essentially repeats of homework questions. He also provides over 200 points of extra credit (which can bring your grade up 2 letter grades if you do it).
Was hard to understand because of his thick Russian accent. Had the right intentions but often confused me with his analogies. I could tell he's very educated though, so take it if you enjoy econ I guess. Easy hw but too much.
This professor is hard to understand and very unprofessional. He called me emotional and said I was overreacting when I asked him to reopen assignments I could not do because the website was experiencing difficulties. I included pictures and videos of the problem and he still made me take four zeros. His lectures are not helpful for the class.
He's a nice guy, but you won't really learn much from his lectures. The only reason I passed is because of Quizlet and because the MindTap lessons weren't hard. (Online course)
Awesome professor, very quick to answer emails/questions. He definitely wants his students to not only pass his class but LEARN and UNDERSTAND.
He was a sweet person and you can get a good grade if you pay attention. He just has a bit of a heavy accent and hard to read hand writing but overall he's a good professor, just a lot of lectures.
due dates are firm, but fives so much extra credit I didn't have to write the research paper and i still ended the class with over the 1000 point limit. there is a lot of homework but multiple chances to get the answers correct. quizes have 2 attempt. Chegg was a life saver when it came to difficult qs.
Really fun class. Not too hard and a lot of bonus points to make up for any zeros.
He is an average professor, a lot of homework, however it's the only work (other than discussion boards)
love this teacher as long as you actually listen in class you should pass without a shadow of a doubt and if you don't understand ask questions i promise you wont regret it he's one of my favorite teachers that actually takes it serious and know you to make things seem so clear when it shouldn't be.
All of the work is online and is fairly easy with the help of the internet; however, the lectures are boring and difficult to understand. He uses way too many analogies and is difficult to understand. He has also brought up subjects that have nothing to do with economics, such as race, Trump, the KKK, and the Holocaust.
Overall good professor, gave plenty of extra credit at the end to make up points. The videos he posted in learning activities helped a lot with understanding. It was definitely a lot of work but it was manageable.
