She's clear..i had her for the winter and eventhough she had to go real fast, i actually understood everything in a few weeks..when u ask her something, she usually WILL answer your question unlike most math teachers, that leave u more lost
she has some unsentimental remarks, which distiguyshes her from a real teacher. she appears to be kind of ****ed. doing stuff like climbing over the walls to tear off ads hanging on the wall, and so on,proves that she is sick and needs help.
Unorganized, she never knew what chapter or section we were on, sometimes late to class, talked on cellphone during class, was not very helpful overall, she missed alot of steps while doing problems which seemed to confuse alot of the students.
Its hard to understand sometimes she doesnt give a lot of problems from the book stay away from her she grades hard take Quevedo instead of her
This woman has no idea how to teach!!! In addition to being very mentally imbalanced, she also has a strong lack of sympathy when it comes time for giving the final grade in her class.
She couldn't teach a class if her life depended on it. I just feel sorry for her, and hope that she'll one day get the help that she seriously needs!
This woman has no business being in a classroom!!!
Not hard, but not easy. She gives great help when you ask. Attendance required. Good teacher, test are somewhat hard...study and you'll do fine.
I took math 31 with her ,she talks and covers material very very fast.Sometimes it was hard to understand what the hell was she talking about. Likes to talk how smart she is.
Mazarow is cake!!! You just got to listen to her. Everythink on her tests are from her lectures. If you take notes you'll pass...so simple! All you have to say is, "I don't get it." And she will stop her whole lecture till you do get it. She's c
Her grading scale is very hard and the test are not always wwhat was gone over in class. She does repeat test questions on quizzes but not that helpful.
I think Mazarrow is awesome, she's a great teacher. She completely explains everything clearly and timely. I believe she is one of the BEST math professors, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND her for math.
She is a good teacher. Her class is not easy, but she explains things well.
She is a very helpfull professor. She gave three differents ways of solving an expression. Told you your grade(bad or Good)and would help you learn it but the work is not easy if you don't pay attn. and takes notes.

had to drop this lady because she makes NO sense; spends time valuable lecturing WAY hard concepts then says "but you dont need that until you're in math __" so she can show off how smart she is; uses too many shortcuts and confuses everyone; dont take her, you'll regret it
I believe that if Hitler had a sister, this woman would be it, and he would be the good one. She is horrible, she doesn't teach, she just talks about her personal problems. After a week, she gave us a test, she said we had to know the material and it was not her job to teach us.
She's a good professor only of you have taken her class before math 23, like math 22. For those of us who tested into the class, we have no idea what she talks about most of the time. Pay attention, cause she talks really fast and expects you to know a lot of stuff before hand.
Easy if you are hard-working. she's not the type of teacher that you can expect to be easy. work hard, ask question, and u'll be good.
Take the course serious, and pay attendiong, you'll do well
She has no idea how to teach.it was hard to understand what was she talking about, also she just talks about her personal problems her dougther, family how are they smart and if don't understand something she will say,"my dougther think this quastion are stubed and for stubed people.dont take her
She doen't know how to teach goes very fast, skip steps. She expects the students to get right away. Lectures are very confusing. She goes back and forth very bad proffesor and she looks retarded she smiles for not reason.Very weird proffesor.
She is very unclear when she teaches. Her online quizzes are so ridiculous. Mazarow teaches 3 strategies to a problem without ever giving a clear simple solution. She is qiuck to confuse her entire class. Highly dont reccomend her.
She has got to be one of the worst teachers in the department. You'd be better off taking Green instead.
The worst teacher ever she is a motorocylce seller she doesnt know any thing about mathematics and she loves failing every body in class i took her class and only 6 people were able to pass the class all others fails and D every body be aware dont take her class!!!!

WHOEVER SAID THIS TEACHER IS BAD IS WAY WRONG. I TOOK HER CLASS IN A WINTER SESSION AND PASSED IT DESPITER BEING LEARNING DISABLED. SHE ENCOURAGED ME EVERYSTEP OF THE WAY THROUGH HER CLASS. IF YOU JUST MAKE THE EFFORT TO DO THE HOMEWORK AND ONLINE REVIEWS, TESTS ARE NOT BAD. QUESTIONS ON TESTS COME
I liked this teacher. I like teachers who share a little of their personal life. You have to understand that when she says she hates math it's because most people do and she's identifying with that. It's her way of being on your side. Do your homework and she'll take plenty of time to go over questi
I recomend taking math 22 even if you tested into 23.She moves fast and there is about 2 hrs of homework nightly. Study hard. I'm relatively good at math and have a high GPA, but this is a struggle for me. First failed test was in this class. She's nice and helpful, just make sure you brush up on your skills
shes terrible at teahcing, she should stick to her biology major. Shes rapidly goes over things and doesn't explain well enough. She jibber jabber about nonsense and talk to much instead of staying on topic. Her test are sloppy..VERY!!
She was very confusing, and she was no help at all. The formulas that she gave you to solve the problem just made you more confused, it was better to make up your own technique in her class, I would not take her again...
She expalins everything very well. This is a fun class. She is not boring like other teachers she makes math not seme that boring. People that want only to work and get bored hate this teacher.
She is very kind and very well versed in her topics. Do the homework and be proactive in class and you'll do well. Guaranteed!
Nos her math, but she assumes we no as much as her, so wen she teaches she no really explain da mat'l good & wen it comes down to HW its lyk wat da....?

She is the worse teacher ever!!! She is an unhappy person! As other people said in their reviews, she expects you to know everything. She doesn't explain anything and go over the material very fast! Don't take her!!!
not teaching the material. not helping with questions on homework.
please do not take this teacher for math. not helpful.
she is the worst math instructor ever, she assumes everyone knows the material, and doesn't spend any time answering student's questions.she doesn't mind if people is following her lecture, she would just summarize her class in less than an hour and then go home. very unprofessional, not helpful whatsoever.her grading system is ridiculous and unfair.
She's good. She's beyond being fair. you get the grade you work for and that's that! She's really helpful during her office hrs. and the key to getting a good grade in class...FAKE INTEREST! ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS! then she'll know you are trying and will help you get a good grade. DO IT! TRUST ME IT WORKS.
I took this class not having been in math for about three years (at which time I failed this same class at CU Denver.) If you study, come to class, ask questions, and do your homework (which by the way is not graded strictly), you can do well in this class. I got an A.
do your homework, do the test good .. ull get an A
Knows her subject matter well and is an interesting person, but gives a lot of unecessary information unrelated to subject she's teaching. Does not explain answers to questions asked from students well.
Terrible teacher. Very confusing. Not helpful and expects a lot from students when she herself does not put a whole lot of effort in teaching. She always says that she does not want to be at work and is there for the money, which unmotivates us students to do well.
She doesn't teach at all. In her class she just does a couple of homework problems and doesn't explain anything. When students ask for extra explanation she gets upset. Take this class only if you want to learn Math by yourself, she does not make any difference.
For a Prof. she is kinda horrible....doesn't teach much in class...I have to do all the study by myself....tons of HW....and it only worth 10%...Tests were not easy...horrible experience...
Do your HW! That's all you need to do because her exams are from HW. so, u'll see how easy her exams are if you really do your HW. However, HW will be taken a looooooooong time to do.
very helpful and overall great teacher
She was the worst math teacher i have Ever had!!! i've always gotten the highest marks in math classes until her class, she is hard to understand, doest explain herself, makes people feel bad for answering questions, it was ridiculous! I can't believe they let a teacher who is unconcerned with helping her students pass teach at a COMMUNITY COLLEGE
I tell you one thing just do your homework and you will be fine! Most of the people in the class dont bother doing the homework and then they complain about their bad grade.
she's a good teacher..although u need to make abundance of homework, it helps us to understand the material... exam is from her lecture notes + betty wong'reviews...u need to ask her if u don't understand... she's helpfull...
very good teacher!!!!!
I hate math so i slacked but shes cool cus she let me drop after the drop date.
I love math and she made me hate it. I dropped her class after 3 weeks, don't take her unless you can devote your entire life to homework and teaching yourself.
she's nice and everything, but, i asked a few questions and she made me not want to ask any more. the problems she puts on tests are way harder than the ones she goes over in class. i loathe math
If you do you're homework which requires a min. of an hour every night and use up her office hours, you'll be fine. However, take notes on what way you want to approach each problem. She gives a variety of ways which really can be confusing. Don't ask many questions in class unless you are clear and have a problem for an example.
professor is amazing person. plays by the rules. don't expect to get your grade rounded up. study lectures, don't emphasize on the book, STUDY HER NOTES! not an easy A, not even an easy B. does not give more than 2-3 A's per semester. doesnt curve anything. doesnt drop anything. if there is no one better, take her
Worst professor I've ever had!! Lazy, didn't want to do the problems that required work. If you ask for detailed explanation she will say "just press buttons in your calculator." Stay away, had a D with her and I worked really hard, retook the class with Mr. Rodas and had an A, not because he was too easy but because if you do your homework and at
Took this last spring. had to self-teach yourself calculus!!! always talked about her family. had to turn in sooo much homework (from the book, online reviews, and web assign for each test)! this class was too hard! i retook this class with mcgraw and got an a. i suggest you take mcgraw or rodas for calc 1. avoid mazorow and wong!!! AVOID!!
Please dont take her! She is horrible. You wont understand her lecture!
WARNING!DO NOT TAKe! Please! not helpful. She's confusing and talks too much about her love for the outdoors more than math. I am not that good in math and she just made it worst for those really trying to get the work. Better for students who are already good in math.
Very laid back and easy going. Will work with you on any problem if you simply ask.
Very bad teacher. will go on for half an hour about a very complex problem and then end it with "but you dont need to know this" "its for the higher classes". Well thanks lady, that was useful. The hardest thing about this class is not the material, its trying to figure out what she is going to put on the test. Studying day and night wont help.
Mazarow is a cool teacher with a nice personality, I just made the mistake of being absent and trying to study everything from the book READ THE ONLINE REVIEWS she gives and go to her office hours!!!
rubbish teacher,unclear,extra stuff,no extra credit,no drop lowest,picky,really don't take her class,you must regret
Helpful teacher, actually knows what she is talking about. Will help you if she available. Explains in great detail, which is why people say the "you don't need to know this for the final" line.
Prof. Mazorow is amazing. I went though a lot the day before the exam and she was nothing but understanding. I hated her class (not a math person) but she really helped me. Got a B.
ONLY TAKE THIS CLAS IF YOU ARE AN EXPERT IN MATH. SHE DOESNT TEACH WELL, SHE TEACHES REALLY FAST AND SKIPS SO MANY STEPS. SHE EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW IT ALL ALREADY. IF MATH IS NOT YOUR BEST SUBJECT I SUGGEST YOU LOOK FOR A BETTER TEACHER.
very confusing teacher. she makes no sense. class is very boring. do not take her! she's not clear at all... she's only clear about what is going to be on the test... teaching wise, she's not clear. nothing makes sense in that class and i'm pretty good @ math. definately one of the worst math teachers i've ever had!
just be prepared to do the work. Very Helpful prepare you for university work. really nice just pay attention.. the homework is online which make the exams easy you can redo problems over and over plus they give you step by step examples. the homework and exams are basically identical plus she goes over the eams type problems the day before exams.
2660 Very fast-paced 8wk class. Thought I'd be reviewing, and had to drop when we were past anything I'd ever seen in the first two weeks! Great teacher, very personable, quick responses to emails, very encouraging. Great online textbook & homework setup. Good if you're brushing up on math you've done before... I was just too old & slow!
NOT TO TAKE THIS TEACHER'S CLASS... NOTHING IS CLEAR EXCEPT WHAT IS NOT ON THE TEST. THE WORST TEACHER EVER.
I took pre-cal with Mazorow in fall '08. Prof. Mazorow teaches in a style that is both very in-depth and fast-paced, which means it's very hard to follow her if you don't do all of your homework. The prof. is one of the most helpful & encouraging I've ever had. She's a great prof., especially if you're hard working. great for science majors. Got A.
She is awful, DO NOT TAKE HER! I am really good in math and this was the first time i did not want to trust rate my professor but she is really bad at teaching and rolls her eyes at people all the time. Can not answer a simple question with a yes or no, has to go on a rant on how this is why she fails over 50 percent of her students and gives 2 As
her class was very fun. I was terrible at math and I earned a B in her class. just pay attention in class and do the homework online. I had to study ALOT and it paid off. If you need this class just take credit/ no credit and it will not affect your GPA and the universities doesn't count this class.
Whenever anyone would ask a question she would look at them like they were stupid and not even answer the question. other times she would start doing a problem, then half way erase it because she "forgot how to do it that way". she really is terrible and super confusing, PLEASE dont take her for your own sake.
when you have a question about an exam question, she does not stay focused long enough to answer it. instead, she wastes your time and drains your energy by making you listen to the mundane details of her family life and kids. then you realize twenty minutes have passed and she STILL hasn't answered your question, or care that you have one.
She thinks her students are her therapists. Can't concentrate on math without complaining about her family or college bureaucrats. She wastes your time.
she is obviously starved for attention.
Very professional good teacher, tries to help all students. Helps with questions we have. Very nice person, she does speak alot so if you're slow person might want to take a less informative teacher. Her class is pure mathematics I love it.
I literally got up during the break and went to the department chair and suggested someone sit in on her class. She is a total head case. I really need this class, but I am not going to waste my time with her. Students need to stand together and get rid of her. There should seriously be a walk out in one of her classes.
Her class was the best class I had for the Fall '09 semester! She is really funny as well as helpful. The only thing is you have to do homework in this class, so you don't fall back (I took an Accelerated course-Math31/20)
Professors like Mazorow need to be banned from teaching. There are so many great professors out there, I cannot understand why universities employ people like her. She rants on about her personal life and doesn't know how to teach. She may know the content, but she's a horrible teacher. This class is difficult no matter what, but spare yourself
Great teacher. Always ready to help a student with questions and I thought that she was pretty fair to students. Grading was based on homework, tests and final.
She may be nice, but I REALLY don't care about her personal life. She's forgetful, unorganized and continually introduces concepts from chapters yet to be assigned. I get more out of the online resources than the waste of time spent in class. The book is clear, concise and does a much better job. What a pity.
Personality isn't for everyone. Very casual, texts during lecture. An expert in her area, however, and welcomes all questions. Explains math theory thoroughly for students who don't want to just do cookie-cutter math. Expectations are clear and resources are there. Do the HW, previous exams that she provides & go to office hours for more questions.
good job
very hard teacher --takes no interest in older students
she is so nice. i think her class is easy. just do ur hmws. cuz she will check at end of smester. she s smart, u have pay attention on her class cuz she teaches kind of fast.. i like her class
you are better off with someone else.
She is a difficult teacher , but her final is fairly easy ,if you study. She does forget stufff easily and she tends to rant on about her personal life.
Awful Professor. Yeah she knows the material and how to "explain" problems but not well enough to be crystal clear for you to understand. She teaches too quickly, and she rants about her personal life. Don't take her, you're better off with someone else.
Worst professor I've ever had. Explains a lot, in an unintelligible way. If ur a math major, or genius, take her. Will meet during office hours, still unintelligible.
You are better off with someone else. The lectures are vague.
lol. took organized notes everyday, could not understand any of them. she has a smirk whenever anyone asks a question as if the answer is self-evident. You'd think a PhD from Caltech could help you more...
I took Moya prior to transferring to UCSB. She usually goes on wild tangents making it hard to follow her lectures. I would suggest that everyone self-teach, read sections DAILY and take practice tests online. Otherwise you're doomed. Spring 2010 Mazorow's SMC Grade Distribution Reports: 4 A's, 1 B, 8 C's, 5 D's and 12 F's, 9 Students dropped. >=/
She is very nice and helpful. If you are going to take math7,I recommand her for math2.You can learn a lot beyond the class's level.Never check homework.I did't buy textbook since she never taught from the book. But, all the homework came from it.She sometimes called names, but actually it makes no difference on your grade. If you work hard, easy A.
Really nice lady. She's patient and is willing to answer ANY question you have. She'll go over it multiple times if she has to. The "smirk" on her face is just how she looks all the time. She smiles a lot and is very energetic. TAKE HER.
The most annoying teacher i've ever taken at SMC, goes on tangents, talks too quickly, talks about what "you don't need to know though haha". SOOOO unorganized and frustrating, DO NOTTTTT TAKE HER unless you absolutely have to, in which case you can read magazines or do whatever during class cus you wont learn a thing, then self teach later.
Linear Algebra. 1st class: lecture on symbolic logic corresponding homework. 2nd class: "Any questions? None? Fine, pop quiz! Next time have questions." Quiz covered material in first section, barely alluded to in class. 1st week done, and still no syllabus. Lectures and writing unorganized, hard to follow. Gloats about di
She seems nice but awful prof.she makes everything more complicated and harder that it is.boring class.talkes about her personal life a lot!lectures are not clear, and she never finishes to answer a question. Even though you're good at math doesn't matter you'll receive max a C,ask her tons of question in the class,so you won't get POP QUIZ!
Prof. M is not the easiest professor ever. Her approach tends to stress understanding basic concepts... which is a good thing for most Calc students who will *at least* be taking Calc2 if not more... Her curve is reasonable and about 20% of the class will get an 'A'.
She's terrible. She doesn't explain anything and if you ask her a question she tells you everything but what you actually wanted. She is always discouraging by saying we're not done and she always tells you what exit skill you need but doesn't teach you what that skill is. She never makes sense and never tells you what chapter we are in.
Awsome teacher but a bit confusing in teaching steps in problems but overall very organized, if you want to pass her test and quizes DO online homework and textbook hw, ask questions she will be delighted to help you. She tends to explain more than what you asked her but she loves her job and is just preparing you higher math courses
The worst math teacher I've ever had. Her lecture style is rambling. Doesn't go over any homework problems. Terrible examples in class. Totally disorganized. Why bother taking notes? You will teach everything to yourself from the textbook.
Amazing Professor, her lectures can be a little confusing because she writes very quickly, but maybe record them and you will get everything she teaches. Almost all questions on the exam she went over in class. Very helpful and nice, just go to her office hours and she will help you, she really cares about her students' success
Very nice professor. I don't know what other students don't see in her that I do. She's one of the nicest people I've ever met.
Great teacher always willing to help when needed.
Great teacher! She makes class super fun! Enjoyed being in her class!
Dont even think about her class. Such a waste of semester.
If you are expecting to learn something from her lectures, you will be heavily disappointed. She's super disorganized and likes to skip around sections without explicitly what she is teaching. Its her first time teaching this course and it seems most of the time she is making it up as she goes, with little preparation.
Great teacher. Fair grader, she knows your a human and what your capabilities are. Fair tester. And she has a strong belief that only through pain and suffering, a student can grow to become a powerful mathematician. If you put in the work, you will see results. As soon as you slack, its over. Definitely a doable class. Took her again for math 10.
I'm going to be completely honest, professor Mazorow has a unique sense of humor. She's always positive and makes sure the class is confident before a test. Attend her office hours, don't just sit back and judge her teaching style. She knows how to make math easy and stands out as a STEM leader. She loves football :)
She grades hard and drones on about irrelevant things before actually covering any material. Waits last minute to answer any questions and often leaves the class feeling confused and unprepared. Makes it clear in the beginning that you're kind of on your own. Sweet gal but not really helpful in getting a well rounded understanding of the material.
Grades incredibly hard and is very unhelpful. Really unfortunate waste of a semester.
Sweet Woman, terrible instructor. If you are majoring in anything other than STEM avoid at all costs. She will waste so much time discussing what her higher level math students are learning. Lectures are rarely clear, unorganized, and she can get distracted. Check her work before copying it in your notes; I guarantee at least 1 error.
She cares about her students and is very approachable, but is not a good lecturer and is very disorganized. Be prepared to do a very large amount of self learning, even more than the typical math class.
She seems like a nice person but probably the worst professor I had. Let me break it down for you. Lectures are not organized, grading criteria not clear, no help for preparation for exams. Rambles about her advanced classes but doesn't actually teach I really don't like giving bad reviews but I think she needs to reevaluate her teaching methods.
She is a sweet lady but She isn't clear and is off topic. She makes mistakes while lecturing and exams. I do not require for someone to take this math class.
You're better off studying every single page of the book on your own. Honestly, she's really a useless instructor. I don't know how she manages to keep her job. Don't take her.
Her lectures aren't very clear, but she knows her stuff and is a fair grader. She gives partial credit on exams and is lenient about when you turn in homework. She has a relaxed teaching style, but is strict on attendance and wants you to come to class prepared, having read the material beforehand.
Not a class I would recommend to anyone taking more than 8 units including the 5 from this course. Lectures feel pointless to majority of classmates upon discussion and tests are on subjects scarely taught in class. Light speed pace. If your only option, wait for another professor next semester unless you want a C for 3 days a week in the mathlab.
Yes the lectures aren't great, but if you show up and work hard this professor will give you the benefit of the doubt. The tests are doable and she is very generous with partial credit. Calculus is not an easy subject.
I had her many years ago, I think it was Math 2. She was disorganized, but I mostly remember her as malicious. Not a lot of room to type here, but long story short she took a disliking to me and sabotaged my grade. Not sure if wielding scoring as a personal weapon is a pattern or it was just me, but look out if she decides she doesn't like you.
My personal experience in her Math 29 class was terrible. She normally talks about her personal life, goes back to the subject, and then goes off on another tangent. It was difficult to follow what she was saying in class because of how disorganized it is & the exams were not reasonable. Avoid if possible.
Most unclear lectures I've ever had. Expects you to know everything, just starts doing a problem on the board without any instruction. Don't take this class if you actually want to learn about calculus. She's sweet and approachable, but even asking questions/office hours was pointless b/c she likes to talk about pointless stuff going on in her life
Dr. Mazorow has a different style of teaching. Her style aims at making sure students understand the work they do. Students aren't expected to memorize lectures, you can get a credit for your work as long as you show you understand the material. The class is hard, but she does everything in her power to make sure students get good grades.
Took her during the Fall 2016. At first she was extremely confusing and for some students that remained for the rest of the semester. I however, would read the topics ahead of schedule and tried to prepare myself the best I could. She assumes we know the material which can be frustrating. Spends most of the time teaching theory. Tough Class & Prof
Pros:textbook is optional Cons: lazy, rude, unorganized, dismissive. Prof Moya will make you regret taking Calculus. She begins class late and doesn't greet anyone and begins working on the white board with no explanation. She hands out poorly made worksheets and spends the entire class period on her computer. Strongly Avoid, she is terrible.
Honestly, I see a lot of negative ratings.. and most of the things people say are true. she's not very good at lecturing and she's very confusing to listen to. However, if you are a dedicated student that participates in class by giving answers when she asks the class, shell grade your exams fare... Just be prepared to work hard and push for an A
Most disorganized professor ever. Can not lecture about any topic and seems unsure of herself throughout.
Very disorganized and terribly confusing lectures. She does not ever really tell you what topic or section you are covering. Very scatter brained and unclear about what will be on the exams. I would avoid unless you have experience with Linear Algebra or are great at teaching yourself.
Genuinely one of the nicest math professors at SMC (and that's saying something!)
She is nice, but the worst teacher I have ever had. Goes off on tangents all time time and does not teach. Grades very very hard. You will not feel prepared for any test she gives. Quizzes are in groups usually however. Just avoid her at all costs unless you are good at teaching yourself. Like I said she is nice, but I do not think she prepares you
terrible! terrible! terrible! goes off on rants everyday at every slight second. Tries too hard to make the class seem like "fun".
