Most terrible teacher I have ever had. Calling him a teacher is a joke. His English is terrible, both verbal and written. Syllabus was written in class as he talked on first day, then changed weekly for six weeks. Constantly changing semester long projects with no clear grading and constantly changing time lines are the norm for his classes.
There's only a handful of teachers in the engineering department that aren't the best. This is one of them. Too much work required for a 2 credit hour course and no clear grading. Halfway through the semester and we still don't know where we stand. Avoid if possible.
Dynamic Systems and Control Theory. Started with few grades, but added more once we failed to balance. He is making them substitute and replace so we all benefit individually. So he is lenient, but I and many others have never understood what we are really learning because of how he explains the subject. Half my fault for not studying hard enough.
He's not very organized at all, and does not have clear grading criteria whatsoever. It's clear that he knows what he's talking about material-wise, but I had a hard time paying attention to him. This class in particular was pointless, and he just got a bad wrap for having to teach it.
Try to do well on the the test and quizzes trust me. This class professor will kick your ass with test, but is a fair grader
Good job. Very respectful.
Very well prepared for the class. Always keep us involved. Good interactions. Exams are graded fairly.
Very clear in lectures and a fair grader. I would take him again.
Dr. Salman really works to make sure you understand the concepts and simplifies a lot of the really complex ideas to make them easier to grasp. Pay attention in class and really do the homework and you'll do well in his class.
Lenient for the summer term. Nice guy, wants you to succeed. He will stop to answer questions. Can be misunderstood occasionally, again just ask for clarifications. Assigned homework that was manageable. Put in your fair share, and you will be just fine. Does bio-mechanical research if you're into that.
Very good professor! I took him during the summer and he was able to effectively teach the material clearly but at a fast pace so that we could get through all the content for the shorter semester. He's incredibly helpful and well versed in the subjects.
Great professor and respectful. Clear and understandable lectures and answers any questions you may have, really knows his stuff. Grades fairly and provides extra credit.
Usually does not collect homework, will let you know in advance when he does. You should do the assigned problems, however, because they are often reflected by the test. If you pay attention during lectures and solve the problems on the board, I have no doubt that you will learn the subject. Also doesn't hurt to do well in Physics 1...
Took prof Salman for Dynamics in the summer. Got through about 90% of the course material and only tested on that. No surprises on exams. Quizzes, also no surprises. Grades fairly, and understanding of personal life. Only thing that gets frustrating is him making new powerpoint slides during class but you'll get the hang of it. I'd take him again!
Put in your part and study an average amount. You will get good feedback out of it.
Trying to avoid taking him again
The professor is good, the class was easy. A lot of group projects, Read the case history and you will do fine.
Fantastic professor. If you show you care he really works with you. He strives to make sure you understand and can succeed. You have to do some work on your own and in group projects. He teaches you everything you need to know, although you may have to use that knowledge in different ways to answer test questions and project expectations.
Lectures were a joke, he doesn't explain things well at all; it's like it was his 1st time teaching. Assignments were confusing & he doesn't explain them well, most assignments were done in groups. Tests & quizzes were easy if you read the case studies & chap. summaries in the book. He's awkward & disorganized, but a chill professor.
Great Professor and will give bonus points if you ask him and is very reasonable
One of the most understanding professors around. The more work you put in, the more you get out of it. He understands that students also have lives and circumstances, and he can work around that. It's about the student it seems, and that's how it should be. Take the opportunity to learn.
He was fantastic. Lectures were enjoyable, and in the tests and quizzes, he does partial credit. Even if your answer is wrong, if you show your work and thought process, he credits that well. If you put in some effort, it's not a difficult class at all
He's not the best at giving feedback on grades, but his classes are easy and getting an A isn't very difficult.
Dr. Salman is very straight forward when he teaches. If you pay a little attention and write down what he asks you too you'll do great on his tests. The homework is a little too much, but he's very helpful and understanding. I really enjoyed taking his class.
Professor Muhammad Salman is a straight forward professor who does not trick or deceive his students. The lectures and homework are similar to the quizzes and the quizzes are similar to the tests. Pay attention to the lectures and he will even tell the class the really important items to place on our formula sheets for the test. Would take again
Salman was a great professor (had him for Statics MET2124). He's always willing to help his students and make sure they understand the material. Many students struggle with statics but Professor Salman makes the material easy to understand. As long as you do your homework and show that you understand the material, you will pass. Highly recommend.
He lectures in class and records them for you to watch later if need be. He gives homework that is parallel to the tests which sets you up perfectly and over all he wants you to learn the material and get a good grade.
Hes great, you really understand the material and hes very happy giving extra help. He records his lectures so if you absolutely cant make it to class (which I highly recommend that you do) you can watch and participate online and rewatch after class to pick up anything you missed. Hes very helpful but dont take advantage of him.
The class wasnt really my style of learning. Lecture was digitally projected so you could review it later which is positive in some people but not me. Its not very engaging. Nothing was really. He makes some jokes. Try to make the best of a bad situation place upon him this semester. Show all your work. Easy A.
If you do your homework by yourself, you are safe. just do your homework and get A in the class
Professor Salman is a great and thoughtful professor. His class is straightforward and he records every lecture so you can access it at a later time. This was super helpful when reviewing for exams. Although he may seem like a relaxed professor, you still have to put in effort to earn the A. Homework is the best tool for learning in this class.
This professor goes over exactly what you need for the class, nothing more and nothing less. If you show up and do the work you will do well. I would highly recommend.
Great Professor! Answers all the questions and lectures are wonderful.
Explains concepts clearly, tells you what you need for tests and nothing else. Very accommodating during the pandemic. A little disorganized but you'll get used to it quickly
Best Professor I have taken in KSU will be looking forward to taking more classes with him.
All around pretty good professor
Had Dr Salman for Product Realization. Although it was a 2crd class, it was packed with a lot of knowledge and information. Hes easy and a good grader as long as you do all the work expected from you. Definitely will take him again.
The professor enjoys teaching, and when that happens, it makes learning easier. Work is usually done in groups, and tests are based on what he teaches or whats in the book, so if you study, it should be an easy A.
Professor Salman does a good job at explaining the material. The grading criteria is very clear. He is very flexible on deadlines and does not want to add stress and would occasionally extend deadline to make sure that we were not rushed though the project. He seems like a very nice guy and great teacher.
Good professor in Thermo. Made things straight forward. Do the homework and study it, you will get an A.
Two things that don't seem to go together are engineering classes and pandemics. Somehow Professor Salman has managed to make it work in an all online setting as he encouraged class participation during lectures and assigned plenty of homework to help prepare the class for tests every couple of weeks. If you need to take Dynamics, he's your guy.
By far one of the most understanding professors Ive had. He takes his time to answer questions. As well as being quick to respond to emails. With the pandemic moving all classes online. He was able to make the transition to online teaching methods very well!He kept classes interesting. NOTE: attendance is mandatory. You submit notes after class
This man is disorganized to the verge of negligence. It not that hard of a class and he makes thing decently easy. But, you have to deal with the rollercoaster ride of not knowing what you are supposed to do until he sends out like 3 clarification emails. I know a bunch of people like this guy's style, but personally I do not.
Definitely take Professor Salman for Vibrations Lab, he is very lenient with his grading, as long as he sees that you're putting in the effort, you will get at least a B in this course. Professor Salman is very knowledgeable in the vibrations field and is great in the way he conveys the information to the students.
WORSTPROF OF MY LIFE DO NOT TAKE AT ALL COSTS. He is SO frustrating to deal with, he'll email us at 11:00 at night the day before class to tell us if we're online or in person. He'd always leave out info for reports on labs we didn't perform. He doesn't respond to emails with clear information, and only answers half your questions. DO NOT TAKE. PLZ
He seems like a nice guy, but was super disorganized and never super clear with criteria for anything, but doing the work gets you a decent grade though. Wouldn't take again, but didn't hate it.
Professor Salman is an excellent professor, he very knowledgeable. His lectures can be a little unorganized but he provides clear grading criteria. Sometime you have to dig to find info but everything is on D2l or his YouTube videos. I have taken him twice and was pleased both times. If you put in work he is very generous.
Made Senior Design I a breeze!
Super easy A but incredibly disorganized. So hard to get into contact with him and find time to talk outside of class. Be careful about emailing him too much because he'll call you out in class. He didn't really care too much about the class itself, if you don't either just take him and get the A.
I would definitely recommend
Great professor. Gives great feedback. Not a harsh grader.
Professor Salman is very confusing when he talks. There is no clear guidelines for anything in this lab class. He does not clarify anything. If you ask a direct question, you leave more confused than when you came.
This was a class that's fairly easy to keep a good grade and learn. The professor does a good job explaining the material, and there are group projects and work that's fun to do. Attendance matters and you must take notes. Would definitely recommend taking this class!
Great for summer semester. Did well at sticking to a timeline that got through all the topics before the final without rushing. 3 tests including final. 1st was only a week or 2 in but gave a good idea of how he grades. Quiz every week. Lots of partial credit so its easy to pass as long as you do the HW. Gives breaks since class is long. Take him.
Overall he is a good professor, and is pretty good with partial credit on the tests. There are a lot of projects in this class, but they are fun projects. Only thing I will say about this class is there is a lot of busy work homework, but its not weighted to heavy and isn't hard, just time consuming.
High recommended! This is my second class with him. He is a laid back teacher who is understanding, knowledgeable, and wants to see his students succeed.
The class in its essence is a revision of the foundational engineering courses like Statics and Dynamics. It uses different parts of the body as a system of interest. It is a good TECHNICAL ELECTIVE and it is beneficial for Biomedical minors. Do the group project with a level of seriousness and early enough so there will be no worry to complete it.
He gives extra credit. Took machine design so you have be in class.
Super cool guy, very good sense of humor and is funny himself. Show up, do the lab reports that can get lengthy but it is control theory so that should be expected. Do the work easy A and enjoy the class.
Dr. Salman is a very thoughtful teacher, and I would recommend him to other students. His personality and enthusiasm for teaching make him a great teacher. He also takes the time and energy to ensure that we have a great learning experience. In addition, he is very encouraging and makes himself available to his students. He is an excellent teacher
Professor Salman is Awesome and cares about students and their learning. He likes his job therefore teaches good!
Can sometimes be a bit unclear with what he wants exactly, but you will get a good grade if you're putting in the effort.
Super relaxed person overall. Very disorganized on D2L. Easy grader. Syllabus says multiple quizzes but they never actually happen. It does seem like he greatly values attendance. Homework is group-based. There are two projects throughout. Read the case-studies, pay attention to the charts, and do the class participations that have calculations.
This professor was very clear on his grading criteria and always graded our labs fairly. The course was easy. Show up for lab, do the lab reports due every week, and study for the quizzes.
Excellent professor and an overall fun teacher! Would recommend for any class of his
Professor Salaman is a really laid-back professor. He lays out the semester very well so that you are not stressed about the engineering report you have to write at the end. All the assignments are very simple, and almost all the assignments can be used to supplement the final report and presentation. He is a very laid-back grader too.
Great professor! Very straight-forward and no curveballs on exams. Show up to class and you will be fine.
He cares about your experience in his class and tries to make it as enjoyable as possible. He also will ask your preference on due dates/test dates to make it convenient for you. Be prepared to read case studies, as they will be asked about on exams and quizzes. All tests and quizzes are written response, but he is a very generous grader.
Dynamics class was made so easy by providing problem-solving skills from daily life. He cares about us and listens to the students. Very accomodating. I would take him again.
Professor Salman is the best professor I've had while attending KSU. I have taken 3 courses with him in the past year. He is very passionate about his teaching and is always willing to see things through the student's perspective. If you want to learn and pass the class, take his class. Extra credit is given to those who show enough effort.
This professor really did not take his time to accommodate his students in his Masters's class, many of us worked during the week and were expected to take quizzes during said week. Any attempt to contact the professor would fall on empty ears and this was known to all students in my class who had all separately tried to contact him. Not worth.
He loves the content he teaches students and obviously enjoys everyday he is there. I even heard him say "I treat my students as if they are my own children" and I honestly believe this is true. I highly recommend him for dynamics especially but any other class that he teaches. Top class professor.
Dynamics. Dr. Salman has a GREAT sense of humor and cares greatly about your understanding and grade. Doing the homework and reviewing it again before tests got me a solid A. I highly recommend him for dynamics and any other course.
Great professor. Flexible/willing to work with students. 10/10
Mr Salman was a very fun Professor and and a very generous grader
Great Professor! Some of the labs were a bit tough but I learned a lot. He is very accommodating so it is best to ask any and every question you may have.
I enjoyed the class. He cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. Definitely take him if you can.
Professor Salman is a great instructor. He explains the course material very well. Got good sense of humor. Very easy on grading. Would definitely recommend this professor.
Very good professor. Cares about his students. Pay attention and you will do well.
Dr. Salman was a fantastic Dynamics professor. Attendance was worth a part of our grade, and he always expected interaction during lectures. Be prepared for lots of homework, but the homework teaches the most important material and helps tremendously with exams and quizzes.
Very enjoyable class.
Amazing professor and he is very intelligent and he gives good lectures and he has good knowledge about the courses. Best professor for me in my life
Professor was very friendly and helpful throughout the semester.
He assigns homework every few sections, but it is worth doing. The quizzes and exams come from the homework, so you are good to go if you understand the homework. Plus, he is funny and wants everyone to understand the material. Let The Learning Continue!!!
Prof Salman is hilarious and the homework is by pairs and mainly graded for completion. There are a few quizzes and tests, but it is very clear what will be covered. His lectures can be boring while he teaches but he is very funny outside of class.
Professor Salman is an incredible teacher and a breath of fresh air. Just study the homework assignments and you will thrive in this class. He is generous with partial credit as long as you prove you are trying and that you understand how to work out problems.
I love this guy so much! He's always joking around and having a good time, while also just straight up being so good at explaining the content. He's the kind of guy who makes you care about his class because you don't want to disappoint him. If I could take him for ever one of my classes, I would!
If there ever was a professor to look out for when registering for a class, this guy is it. Professor Salman is an INCREDIBLE professor. He graded fairly and truly wanted you to understand the material. Make sure to take his dynamics class if you can!!!
Dr. Salman is relatable, understands we are busy, and this is difficult content. Frequent HW extensions, but you have to do the work. If you turn in completed assignments, it's a 100%. Only other grades are 2-3 quizzes and 3 exams. It's possible to get an A, as he gives a lot of partial credit, but you must show you can apply the correct formulae.
Professor Salman has knowledge of the subject, has clear, engaging teaching style, which made the concepts easier to understand. His always approachable and willing to help. His use of real-world examples and practical applications made the material relevant and interesting.Highly recommend his classes to anyone interested in the subject to learn.
Good man
really knows how to break things down and make the material easier to understand. Their lectures are super organized, and they always take the time to explain things in a way that makes sense, even when the topic is tough
Professor Salman is really knowledgeable about dynamics. He works through many examples during the lecture and his exams are fairly similar to the assigned homework. If you pay attention in class, do the homework, and study for the exams you'll do fine.
As long as you show up to class and focus on the homework, it'll be an easy A. He explains everything well and everything he teaches reflects the tests. Funny dude as well.
Great Professor. Really cares for his students and gives tests that have questions that are close to the examples done in class and in homeworks.
Professor Salman is hilarious and really cares about students understanding the material. The homework is super helpful for preparing for exams, and using resources like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can make this class a breeze.
I took this class a year ago in Spring 2024. Being an introductory class, it was pretty easy regardless, but he understands that this is most likely your first engineering class and provides you with everything you need to be successful. There were 2 group projects, a reverse engineering project and a car launch project. He's a great professor!
Take as many classes as you can with Dr. Salman! I took him for ME1001 lab, and I took him again for dynamics last semester. He takes a generally difficult class and makes it as simple as he can. He grades homework pretty much on completion, and gives a lot of partial credit. He makes it less about grades and more about learning!
Dr. Salman has shown dedication and hard work throughout this semester in Engineering Dynamics. His teaching style made complex concepts much easier to understand, and his passion for the subject really inspired me to stay engaged and challenged. I appreciate him a lot for his guidance, whether in class or during office hours.
Not a good LAB instructor. Good lecture professor but what he wants in the report is sometimes confusing. You may not realize you're missing some data until after the lab. Look at the rubric for the lab before you leave. He does provide a decent amount of time to complete the labs (week+). He also will will help you for the lab.
Although I found this class to be overall be trivial, professor Salman made this class enjoyable. He is a hilarious and understanding professor that just wants his students to do class. The class is not hard at all, and if you want an A you will get one.
This professor was very patient and understanding. He also brought some good humor to the class and made it more enjoyable!
Professor Salman definitely cares more about the success of the entire class. His class is straightforward for the most part. There is a lot of homework but he is very nice on grading it and will work with students if a due date needs to be moved. He is also a very nice grader when it comes to tests.
Amazing professor. Although the overall material in this class was trite, professor Salman made the class really fun. He's one of those professors that are impossible to dislike. He'll break down any topic or concept and is actually excited to teach. I will definitely be taking him for later courses.
Professor Salman is one of the better options for hard classes like Vibrations Lab and Dynamics (I've had him for both). His homework is very reasonable, and he grades by completion. However, his instructions can often be vague, so if you have trouble interpreting them you may have to email him. He gives advance notice of quizzes and projects.
professor Salman is very good professor. take his classes.
Homeworks are 10+ exercises, but he will work with you. You can ask for more time &/or hand in whatever you get done. Show up to class! He's a caring professor. Do NOT drop his class without consulting with him. Very helpful. He provides the first chapter which is ~1/3 of the term, but you will need the book, or at least the hw exercises later on.
Professor Salman is an amazing professor and you should take him any chance you get.
Professor Salman is an amazing professor and you should take him any chance you get.
Prof. Salman gives you all the lectures in the YouTube playlist so you can just go on your own and get it done. 3 test and homework. I took it online and it was pretty straight forward.
One of the best professors there is. He is simply the best for dynamics if you need to take someone take him. His lectures are fun
Best engineering professor I've had. Homework is from the textbook and always relevant—he walks through HW on PowerPoint, marks up notes, and summarizes everything we need. HW is picked to cover all key applications. Lectures are recorded and posted online.
