during lab time, we are paired up into 3 and when he graded our lab, he chose one of the three(most of the time the worst one, the incomplete one). His test is actually harder than what is actually being thought. there is no curving and the average of the last test is F! so decide take him or leave him:) be wise:) or you gonna struggle in his class
His class is difficult. You have to be really proactive, do not take his class if you are also taking more demanding courses. Attendance, participation, and self discipline are super important. He is not easy by any means or attempts to help students who don't get the coursework.
hard grader! It all depends on your academic works! Attendance is very important. Sometimes helpful but can be very moody. Never inform when will the quiz be held! So be prepare for every lecture. i suggest, DONT TAKE HIS CLASS! You will suffer if you never take physic before.
He's a very hard teacher to read and sometimes you don't know whether your question will be deemed stupid or irrelevant. While he sometimes makes an effort to be more 'fun', most of the time he is very strict. Don't get on his bad side, he can really hold a grudge.
I wouldn't say he is a easy teacher, but he really good at teaching. He is serious about the policy of his class, just study hard and u will have the result u want.
If you get his sense of humor, he makes you want to go to lecture. He comes off as a stern guy but is a softy heart, don't let him intimidate you. Do all the recommended problems, and understand the concepts, and you can get an A.
Dr.G demands hard-work both in and out of class. If you don't attend his class, you get penalized. If you don't listen and sleep, he gets mad and remembers. He assigns 10 HARD physics problems a week as well as a quiz here and there (which is only sometimes announced). He tries to be funny, sometimes is. If you procrastinate, you're doomed.
He is very passionate about physics. He is the teacher who inspired me to become a physicist. You do have to do hard work for this class but in return you learn a lot.
one of the most enjoyable classes I have ever taken, very knowledgeable and professional professor and treats students with a lot of respect.
I highly recommend him, you will learn new skills, including Excel, in a very enjoyable way. The class is also a lot of fun.
Amazing professor in all aspects, highly recommend him.
I really appreciated Dr's ability to break down the concepts in class and providing a balanced explanation of theory, examples, and applications. I highly recommend him for 230.
Be ready to work hard for this class and Dr. Gheith has his way of pushing you just right to study hard, which is good for you at the end of the day. I appreciated him taking the time to prepare worksheets and allowing us time to work on them in class then asking some same problems in the exams.
great class, fun and not so hard to get an A with Dr. G.
Really hard professor and like to show intelligent to the students. However he never able to answer any questions clearly.
His grading is severe!!! Very strict on his policy and is not the type to help students who struggle with physics. Heed my advice and AVOID THIS CLASS!
love it
He gives partial credit but if your solution is worthless then you don't get many points, which is fair. He is also committed to his teaching and will make the time to meet with the students when they need help and support.
Is able to present the material well in lecture, but the examples he puts on the board are trivial and the derivations can be tedious, when it comes to the test he will post very tough problems. Some questions in the test are tricky and hes not very generous with partial credit :(
The class is very difficult. There is no credit for HW or worksheets. Note sheets for the tests are usually very limited and sometimes not allowed. Quiz topics have been changed at last minute notice. Many dropped, AVOID.
Physics 230 is one of the hardest courses you will take in this school, but Gheiths grading policy takes it to a whole new level. Please avoid by all means.
The class will actually teach you not only a great deal of physics, but how to overcome difficulties in your academic career. Work hard, do not give up and you will be successful.
This class was incredibly hard - we started with around 40 students and 12 of us took the final. I had no idea if I would pass. You have to do the homework and show up to every lab and lecture or you don't stand a chance. The lecture problems are not really indicative of the exams, but there is usually a curve at the very end which may save you.
He gives plenty of extra credit and is very laid back and cool professor. At the end of taking the class, you will gain tremendous learning and tons of analytical thinking skills which you will need to succeed in the future. Take it, study hard, show up to lectures and office hours, participate in class and you will get what you want.
He isnt very clear on the grading policy. I would get marked down a lot of points for minor math errors. We studied hard and did our work, however he is very strict in grading our tests. The class was stressful not because of the physics, but because of how he runs the class. I would not recommend him.
the class is a lot of fun and easy to get an A with Dr. G, highly recommend him.
He does a great job clarifying the concepts with demos in this difficult class. He gives worksheets almost weekly and exam problems come from the book and the worksheets. Curves at end of semester.
this class was a lot of fun, the experiments are fun and Dr. G is very helpful and flexible. He would give us a second chance to resubmit the lab report if we get a low grade. I highly recommend him.
The labs were incredibly hard. There was not much partial credit given for our work. I would not recommend taking him.
Just as a disclaimer, Physical Science 112 is not an easy class, so taking it with the correct professor is key. I found Dr.G to be very inspirational and he added spice to a class that otherwise would've been dull. If you're willing to work your ass for the grade, take him. If not, move on. He gives alot of extra credit too.
I strongly recommend
This class was great, easy and fun with this professor. Very relaxed classroom environment and final was straightforward from worksheets.
I wouldn't take him again. Lab instructions were vague and he sometimes takes points off for things not mentioned in lecture. His lectures and assignments are very easy comparing with what exams will be like. Professor is also strict with gradings and minor error.
Physics 230 is a hard class but taking it with Dr. Gheith making a whole difference. His lectures are fun and very interesting, he has an appealing style in explaining concepts and making them clear and relevant. He answers all questions you have so I really highly recommend him. I wished he taught 231.
Truly caring professor dedicated to helping students succeed. He treats everyone professionally with respect. Knowledgeable of Physics and he will answer all questions really well. Every week gives a take home problem for extra credit and grades on a curve. Lectures are amazingly balanced and interesting. Gives lots of extra credit. Great Prof
He's a good guy that cares about his students. Tests are hard, but he prepares you well and gives worksheets before every exam. Lots of extra credit, and there's a fair amount of curving that goes on behind the scenes at the end of the semester. Overall a solid choice, but by no means an easy A.
Dr. Gheith is an incredible professor. He has a way of making you think/approach problems in new and creative ways. Incredibly difficult but plenty of opportunities for extra credit. He doesnt curve until the end but its worth sticking it out!
Don't take from him, if you have an option to take from a better Prof. Grading scale and prof are the problems. Expects way too much from the average student. With self-studying, I got an A.
A great professor and a great role model. He comes off as harsh or mean but once you start to understand his humor and personality you will realize he is a kind professor. Make sure to show him you care for his class and dont fall asleep!
Gheith is a prime example of even though you know something well, it doesn't mean you can (or should) teach it. Tests are tedious, quizzes weekly, and if you're average like me and appreciate partial credit, don't bet on any with him. Condescending at times, he also plays favorites- so ensure you "participate" in-class, or you'll be screwed. Avoid!
Weekly worksheets and quizzes, exams I found very difficult. Extra credits point constantly offered for participation but usually to the same few people who were obviously grasping the material or helping each other. Dry humor but still accessible and caring, don't be intimidated to ask questions. He is clearly knowledgeable.
He teaches a 1 unit class that feels like a 5 unit class for 3HOURS. He doesnt even teach, he puts you in a breakout room and just disappears. Hes very hard to reach, ignores messages and admits that he saw it and does not reply. He makes you uncomfortable and insist you turn on your camera despite your privacy. His instructions are NOT clear.
He was incredibly nit picky about many things and as an online teacher he was very difficult to work with. He wasted the first hour of class letting kids ask questions they are supposed to ask in his office hours because he didnt have anything else for us to do. Then he would put kids on the spot and become angry if they didnt know the answers.
excellent professor, capable to simplify the material, support and help every student even without asking for help and respect the difference between all the students.
This class is supposed to be an intro class, but it seems like you're just constantly doing work. 8 hours of your week in zoom on top of extra hours. This professor is an incredibly tough grader on tests and our class average on tests on 4/5 tests were D/F range, with no curve. Not sure why his rating is so high. Avoid at all costs.
Excellent professor, know how to simplify the material and so helpful and supportive to all the students
Professor Gheith is AWESOME!! I am an Elementary Education major so physics is not my favorite subject. But, Professor Gheith is helpful every step of the way. He wants every student to succeed. He is extremely helpful during class AND during office hours. If you put the effort into labs you will get an A on every lab! TAKE HIM! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
There is a lot of lecture to attend every week. He stresses to make sure his students are there multiple times a lecture. The homework load is not heavy, about a worksheet per week, along with notes from chapter in book. The occasional lab as well. Study hard for tests, come to class, and participate for extra credit. You can pass. Dr. G is cool.
Professor Gheith is humorous and friendly. It was difficult to focus for long periods of time but, he goes through each problem with you and provides specific examples. To get a good grade you MUST work the problems along during lecture, rework problems till you understand them, do the reading, and dive into the physics, but it's worth the effort.
Professor is a great teacher who will push you to be a better student. His class is rigorous, but showing effort in lecture and attending his office hour goes a long way with him. This is NOT an easy A class but if you're interested in the subject material you will find his class very rewarding. Final curve will help your grade, often a full lette
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR PHYSICS 129! Most of the positive reviews of him are from the other classes he teaches, but he is awful at teaching Physics 129. Average class score on tests were 40-50% with NO curve. Even the smartest kids in the class were struggling. Wastes our time and tests will have questions we never learned. Worst teacher I've ever had!
Overall class was ok. However he was not very understanding and made students who only missed 1 class for medical reasons jump through hoops to be able to receive a grade on an assignment that was not due that day and was not even worked on in class that day. Exams were more difficult than hw or lecture material and some questions had weird wording
He has a good heart. His teaching style may not be for everyone that's probably why theres lots of bad reviews. If you're friendly you get in along w him. He enjoys jokes and fun people, but he is a tough grader. Do not leave class early, you will lose all credit on weekly labs worth a lot!!! final + presentation really easy just a powerpoint tbh
Just generally not a great teacher. Some people who know a subject still can't teach it and he is one of them. Grades really hard on tests. Also a heads up about "the end of semester curve," for our class it still left the average final grade as a low C. I've always done well in science but this was a struggle. Avoid!!
Genuinely cares about his students, lectures were very clear and detailed. The exams were not so hard like others said as I was not so familiar with science and took 18 units last semester but still got a good grade. Redo the problems he solved during the class and worksheets for the exams. Kind and knowledgeable person, One of my best professors!
His lecture notes were amazing, but his timed quizzes were almost nothing like his in class examples. he gave so many quiz Qs for a very short amount of time. He's a nice guy whos passionate about physics but he tends to think everyone can think out of the box with exam questions w no prep. he also doesn't curve
Dr. G is amazing. I took his 129 class and it prepared me so well for phys-130. I know for a fact I'd be absolutely lost had it not been for his class. He explains problems and goes through the strategy to solve them. Sometimes tougher with grading, but with that said, he gives a LOT of extra credit opportunities. Participate & study. Worth it!
If it weren't for Prof G's 129 class I wouldn't have been doing so well in my 130 class. He makes you work for your grade however, he ensures that 130 will be a breeze for you. I still reference his lecture notes solely bc he explained concepts in a simple manner. would 100% reccomend
Although it's a calc supplement the two days of class are completely difficult and he clearly lacks communication skills as a professor. Two days were enough to make a horrible impression. He's a very harsh grader and will comment on your work in exclamations as if he's screaming at you. Overall would not recommend.
simply if you want a good grade don't take him at all, he is the worst teacher ever you will get. he is so rude and bossy does not explain the materials at all. he loves giving student zeros. he is not even deserving to be called a teacher. dose not respect student at all even if you have emergency and you a prove he does not respect people
The class was short and graded on 4 worksheets and two quizzes. You must attend class and make sure to learn the material well during lectures. As long as you do this and ask questions, you will be fine. Professor G is extremely accommodating and is understanding. Just communicate.
His teaching style is very direct and expects you to know the material very well. Though he would be more than happy to help you and answer any questions you have. For the tests, make sure know how to solve problems (same exact Wksht ?s appear on the test) but know the concepts very well. He wants you to succeed and will prepare you for PHYS-230
Dr G's lectures are very good and he's very friendly with his students. He playfully jabs at them sometimes, but it's all in good fun. His tests are challenging, but fair. If you're taking Physics 129 for a free A, then he's not the one. But if you want to learn Physics and have a fun time doing it, then he's your guy.
Dr. Gheith does not explain Physics lab instructions properly because he intentionally puts all the burden on his students. 2 unannounced 5-page lab reports and 1 final project 5-minute presentation and a 5-page paper. Can be very embarrassing when calling students to answer questions in class. Do not take his class unless he is the only option.
Professor Gheith was a great teacher and mentor. He is very caring of all emergencies, and his lectures are super fun and understandable. He really makes sure you understand what you are doing and prepares you for PHYS-130
My favorite teacher! Walks you through concepts in lectures clearly and gives lots of example problems. Dr.Gheith is understanding and you can tell really cares about his students. Prepares you so well for Phys-130 and is helpful with answering questions. Gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and he doesn't try to trick you on tests
Professor Gheith was a great professor this semester! His lectures were engaging and our class had a lot of discussion back and forth on the topic that day. He would also walk us through a LOT of practice problems throughout the semester and especially before the final, which is what all of us needed. You just gotta stay on top of the weekly hmwk.
I took his Physics-129 last summer, and it was the best experience I had during my time at DVC. He's a very wholesome and humorous guy. I was impressed.
Professor Gheith knows this course inside and out. His worksheets are extremely useful for the quizzes and final. Participation during the lectures is very important for learning and extra credit. Very sarcastic and funny guy, will sometimes pick on his favorite students. He is very reasonable and fair, especially over the Summer.
Professor G made physics very accessible. I was really nervous entering this course b/c of the difficulty level and short time but he is a detailed and entertaining lecturer. All the quizzes can be studied for using the assignments and lecture notes. He is caring/wants his students to succeed, making sure to help those who need it along the way.
Amazing professor! He was funny and made lectures very interesting and easy to follow. Gave out extra credit like it was candy.
Dr. Gheith is a great professor, who makes class fun and enjoyable. He genuinely wants his students to succeed. I recommend going to his office hours if you need help. He gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities so try and participate! Although the material can be challenging, he makes the exams fair. Highly recommend taking him for PHYS121!
Dr. Gheith is one of the best professors I've experienced. He scares you of how intense physics is. But it's actually to push you further beyond your limit and make you a imrove. He really loves everyone and wants us to succeed. Dr. Gheith is the one to go if you want to learn physics.
Dr Gheith is absolutely amazing. I lacked so much physics at start. But now I can say I'm pretty confident in areas of Physics all thanks to him.
Easygoing professor with pretty straightforward labs, weekly attendance is crucial to ensuring full credit.
He is Awesome
He is a great professor. I love his style of lecturing, he is very clear and effective and tries to make the lectures fun. However, the class is hard, it's physics what do you expect? He does make the exams relatively easy. He does pick on students to encourage active engagement...
Professor G was probably my favorite professor at dvc so far. He jokes a lot and but also teaches you very well at the same time and I ended up learning a lot. However it is a tough class and lots of students ended up dropping. Some test literally had the exact same problems from the worksheets so make sure you understand those well.
PROFESSOR G IS MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR. His class is the definition of a positive learning environment. He cares so much about his students &makes such an enjoyable lecture. physics is hard so if you have no background in it I would definitely take it with him. I wish every teacher is as caring as he is. worksheets he would go over in class
Professor Gheith makes sure that his lectures are interesting and fun. Personally, I really enjoyed his lectures. The only problem was the final exam, which was much harder than expected.
Dr. G is the goat. As long as you show up and participate he makes physics fun and easy to learn. Great sense of humor. He gives minimal homework and makes the in class quizzes pretty easy. Grades the midterms a littler harsh. Is extremely willing to help you out and is almost always available outside of class. TAKE HIM.
Always looked forward to going to his lectures, he is such a funny guy. Very nice and understanding. Three midterms + final exam. Weekly quizzes are worth 9% of your grade. Homework assignments are similar to the questions on the midterms, so practice those. Getting help during his office hours helped my understanding of the material a lot.
Very inspirational teacher and high energy made a tough subject fun and really made me look forward to this class. I wish more teachers were like him
Very good professor, lectures were useful and professor was very helpful during office hours. 3 midterms and a final sounds like a lot but doing the homework really helps prepare.
The best professor you can ever have! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to take his class. Very understanding and willing to help his students succeed! Lectures are very engaging and informative! Exams and quizzes are super easy and definitely go to office hours! You will learn interesting things from his physics class.
Best Physics Professor at DVC! Very understanding and helps you with math related questions. I do recommend to take all his physics classes if required like 120+121 with him because it's the best class. Well respected and knowledgeable in every way possible! 100000% recommend!
Dr. G is the best physics professor I've ever had! He's genuine, funny, and very helpful in office hours. What I love the most about Dr. G is his ability to meet students where they're at along their journey. I would highly recommend that everyone take a course that he is teaching.
Honestly, Physics is very challenging for me, Professor Gheith was an outstanding teacher during lecture and office hours. He is confrontational with students and truly wants them to understand the material and succeed. Tests at times were difficult but contained problems very similar to homework. Can't recommend Mr. G enough he's honestly the best
Dr. G is the mother freaking goat!! He is the funniest and most engaging professor I've had at DVC. I absolutely hated physics 120 and was not excited for 121, but I couldn't have asked for a better 121 professor. Dr. G did an amazing job at making every student feel included, and all his lectures were super engaging, funny, and easy to understand!
Physics as a whole is tough, but Dr. G is a great teacher who will help you learn everything you need to know. With this in mind, you have to put in the effort to succeed since it is still a harder course
Physics is already a tough subject but Professor Gheith made sure to keep you engaged and help with the material. He's hilarious and he offers a lot of extra credit. He treated everyone in the class like friends and he made physics enjoyable.
Dr.G is probably hands down one of the best professors I've had. He genuinely cares about his students outside and inside of the classroom. He will always justify why he gave a grade. If you dont study in PHYS 121 then it is on you because Dr.G does everything in his power and has so many opportunities to do better and even EC. Dr.G is a Legend!!!
Dr G was the BEST professor I've ever had. He's so understanding and cares so much about his students. I highly recommend taking his class. Physics is hard but he does his best with trying to make it as simple as possible. His energy during lectures is top tier, im going to miss him so much!
Took his physics class over the summer and he was the best professor I've ever had so far! Prof. Gheith cares deeply about his students and his lectures were always entertaining. Physics is a hard subject, but he does his best to break things down and makes the material fun. Really funny guy, definitely going to miss him and his class!
Amazing Professor, I highly recommend taking him if you participate during lectures often as he always provides extra credit for anyone who's willing to take it everyday. He is also hilarious and the way he teaches really goes in depth with the content he's teaching. The only downside (not really) is that he has quizzes every week.
Professor G is a great professor that only wants the best for his students. That also means putting a lot of time and effort into understanding the material. Grades are exam heavy, and the worksheets usually help with tackling the exams. Great professor, but man did every test feel like preparing for war.
Excellent teacher. Fun. Involves everyone. Lectures were fun and informative. One of my favorite classes I've ever taken. Physics.
Absolutely my favorite class taken. Teacher is the best. Lectures are interesting and helpful. Dr Gheith is funny. Take him if you can. You won't regret it. Hope you're well teacher. Thanks for a fun class. Be well, stay healthy. JA
Professor G. Is a real one, by far one of my favorite classes I've taken purely because of him. He has a very strong bond with his classes and you can tell he loves what he does. He has an amazing sense of humor and isn't afraid to make fun of himself. It's important to remember that he WANTS you to succeed, and will do his best to make sure you do
I would say that Professor Gheith is a phenomenal professor to teach physics, and a respectable person that you can go to for advice about anything. You still need to study a lot to pass. A's in his class are earned, not given. Look at worksheets and clicker questions, and go to office hours. His classes are short and he has a lot to cover!
Great teacher. Had the most fun learning in his class out of all my classes at DVC. He was very funny and caring. I learned a lot from the class asking questions, collaborating with others, and going to office hours. For exams its important to go over the materials given such as clicker questions and worksheets.
goat A machine
Man, this guy is tough at first. But you will need that whether you like or not SO DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. Taking a course with Dr G will prepare you for what lies ahead. And when you pass you will be extremely pleased with yourself. I can recommend Dr G over and over again- Fall 2025
