This guys is a genius.REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF. Kinda boring topic but makes the best of it.No tests...but you have intense simulations that last 2 days each.No final exam but you have a 7 page final paper. I also had him for POSC311...class isnt too hard...I only skim over the readings and am getting A's in both classes. I'd def take him again.
Khan is well versed in his field and a very kind man...he's is brilliant!! He is well read and has MANY MANY of his own articles and publications. However, if you are gung ho about the US and think the US can do no wrong and a big Bush supporter, i wouldn't come to this class...but if you believe in that then maybe you NEED this class!
Dr. Kan is awesome. I def recommend this class to anyone (even non majors!) He does read alot of his own stuff, but its quality work. The man is a genius. he expects his students to be versed but also to learn alot. Class attendance isn't really a must but I dont see why you would want to miss it!! Also theres a class blog. very interesting!
Very good Prof., Really knows his stuff and is an expert in his field. Grading is a bit arbitrary, but class is more about learning than grades.
Brilliant prof. Had to do 10 blogs and a paper but no final. He has an interesting perspective on things.
Dr Khan is an awesome prof, really knows his stuff. This class is more about taking what you want from it, than having information that you NEED to memorize drilled into your head. Grade is comprised of a midterm quiz, a final paper, a group project, a film review, and 10 blog entries -- all a lot easier than it sounds
absolutely amazing. he is by far the most brilliant professor ive had in the department. hes a great communicator and is very knowledgable about the topic
While he's well versed on material, he doesn't display an ability to think outside the box. This is most noticeable when it comes to ongoing global conflict, where he emphasizes the role of religion and international politics as part of the solution, while failing to identify perhaphs the primary cause...oil exporters migrating from the dollar>Euro
Totally inept.
Very egotistical. Knows a great deal of facts, but very close-minded. While he opens the class for discussion often, he will always cut down any comment to inflate his ego even more. Not very clear when it comes to assignments, and a poor teacher. Frustrating to talk to when it comes to other viewpoints.

His talks are intellectually bankrupt, to the point where simplistic dualism becomes the central theme. He so desperately wants Muslims (or more specifically, Islam itself) to gain mainstream acceptance in America, that he changes the message to accomondate moderates. Such is the style of anyone who subscribes to religious myth.
Dr. Khan is easily the best and the most knowledgeable professor I ever had. His class simulations were fascinating and the Blogs were very stimulating. He is also very famous and sought after by the media, it is like taking a class with a celebrity. He even organizes conferences for his classes.
Dr. Khan's Politics of Developing Nations was the most interactive class I ever had. He allowed us to make our points, and challenge him. The simulations were fantastic. He travels and speaks all over the world and has fascinating stories to tell. Take the class for the stories alone. He is also very knowledgable about a wide range of things.
He is awesome! The best Professor I ever had. he knows a lot, is often very witty and is very helpful. Do not graduate without taking at least two classes with him.
I had him a few times and don't see why he's so highly regarded.

Khan is one of the preeminent authorities in his respective field, so when you take his class he'll incorporate his expertise into the course. That is expected of any professor in the humanities, so anyone ****ing about Islam being focused in class is ridiculously immature for college and probably got a mediocre grade in his class. NOT HS, grow up
He is fantastic. I just saw him on TV commenting on the killing of Zarqawi and read an article by him in the News Journal on Islam in Germany just a few days ago! He is brillliant and easily the most famous professor we have! He is sharp and funny too. He is a must.
It's an easy A, but be prepared to endure irrational thought during the lectures.
The hardest part of the class was staying awake! lol ~SC~
Nice man in class but makes issues too simple.
I really enjoyed his class. He changed the way I think about many things. He is also very helpful, helped me get internships and apply for grad school. Wrote 3 different letters of rec.

Not a fan of his method or the message he mixes in.
It's a joke how unorganized he is, but he is an extremely busy and important man. If you don't believe me, he'll be sure to mention it a half dozen times each class. He's a nice guy though and has some interesting things to say, even if his bias bleeds through all the time. There's almost no work to do either.
Expect to feel pressured to do more work than you actually have to do. I took both 377 and 311 with him, classes were set up pretty similarly with a midterm, research paper, big powerpoint presentation and simulation. After not knowing too much on the subjects, felt he did a pretty good job breaking it down and bringing it all together pretty well
Classes consist almost exclusively of listening to him talk, but he's pretty interesting most of the time. No tests, just a powerpoint presentatio, simulation and 10 blog entries, which requires about 15 minutes a week tops. Good class, learned a lot.
I did not learn anything about posc. The amount of material he covered all semester could have been taught in 1hour. He bragged & rambled about himself, telling ridiculous unrelated stories. I kept going to class hoping to learn & he failed me every single time.
Prof Khan is an awesome professor. His lectures are brilliant, and his knowledge is amazing! I like all the simulations we do in his class. He is travelling all the time and has great stories to share. I loved his class.
I took both 377 Arab-Israel Conflict and 410 Islam in Global Affairs with him. There is lot of reading and blogging, but the lectures are fascinating. He is an easy grader but expects high quality work. He is helpful. He wrote letters of recommendation and helped me get an internship in Washington.
He is terrific. Dr. Khan is the best professor I ever had. He is world famous, always on tv or in the media. He has written several books and has a great sense of humor.
He's an all around great guy. Debate with him at your own risk, he's an expert and it shows. Thought provoking lectures and his general sense of humor make attending class enjoyable. Attendance is not mandatory for the grade or to do well . He is somewhat arrogant but it is a well deserved arrogance. Blogs and papers result in easy grades.
I am in Dr. Khan's Intro to Global Islam. It is like no other class I have ever taken. Very intense and very different. He is a passionate guy and extremely knowledgable about his subject and everything else. Must take.
Khan is a smart guy but his business hurts his teaching. It is difficult to get him to talk or help you. It also means he doesn't this his job evaluating you seriously enough and as a result inflates grades. I recommend taking him and he could be a great professor if he wanted, but he prefers doing other things.
Arab-Israeli politics: interesting class. khan tells good stories and a lot of class is spent simulating the peace process. you will write/read/learn a good amount. but, he is sometimes unclear and is very egotistical.
He is extremely bright and has encyclopedic knowledge. the smartest and the wittiest prof i have ever had.
He has clearly never heard of office hours. Highly arrogant and contentious, but he is an interesting/resourceful guy. Class requires little to no work (because he has no time for it).
Dr. Khan is a really smart guy, but re kind of just rambles in class about nothing. The test are essays and short answers. For the final he gave us little to no guidance about what would be on it and it was 2 four page essays and five short answers. The T.A. graded it and it wasnt that bad, but i'd rather have taken a different course.
I don't care what anyone says.Dr. Khan is the man. A fountain of knowledge; his teaching styles differ than most professors; he grades on the fly so it can be subjective; I took him over the winter and learned so much;he's an easy grader, and he's a must take professor before graduation. he even uses facebook as a teaching tool
Brilliant, informative, entertaining, makes you think. Massive ego, notoriously unreliable, doesn't show much respect for his students. Most people either love him or hate him. Classes are easy, he assigns work based on how much he feels like grading, which is not much. He's a must-take prof, can also seriously help out your career if you ask him.
Just say no! No idea what I was going to get in this class. He only let us know our grades for the mid-term presentation and one quiz. The quizzes were impossible. The first one everyone got zeros. He goes off topic. Unreliable and Dr. Khan would always show up late to class; sometimes not at all.
He is an easy grader if he likes you and if you stroke his ego. He does provide alt. points of view, but this may be b/c he grew up in India and not the US. Be prepared for him to present some abundant phenomena and then, after a hours of lecture, he'll turn around and tell you it doesn't exist. Case in point: Islamaphobia in the US. Unpredictable.
I took this class with Dr. Khan over the summer and it was really interesting.I was never really into Bollywood or anything, but he opened my eyes to something completely new. He's really smart guy and rambles on sometimes. The work isn't too hard. I got a B+ and didn't bust my butt too much.
I took Intro to Global Islam last Fall. He completely changed my view of Islam. Amazing lectures, great stories, interesting simulations. Take this class it will be your highlight at UD. He helps with internships and career advise too.
I took both POSC 430 and POSC 410 with Dr. Khan this semester. Better take them in different semesters, since the Islamophobia part overlaps. Great assignments, we had simulations, made videos my interviewing Muslims, wrote and performed a play. Dr. Khan is brilliant, a bit arrogant, also very helpful and fun if you take the time to visit him.
I really enjoyed the class. Dr. Khan is very smart, he tells great stories about his travels in the Middle East and is a very fair grader. The projects get intense and the reading must be done upfront or you will not do well. He uses FB and I loved it. Answered my Questions even at 2 am! Very cool and helped me find an internship in DC.
Great class. Lot of fun simulations, lot of Facebooking. I never knew the side of Islam I found in his class. He is also very helpful. Must take.
This was my first class ever on Islam. Eyeopener. Khan rocks! he is funny and and no boring powerpoint presentations. Lots of work on assignments but they are interesting. I enjoyed making a documentary about a Muslim American. Take the class.
I took the class because he is famous. I liked the class. He was very helpful. He even read my paper twice before giving the final grade. Allows makeups, even if you miss a simulation and gives great career advice.
I expected if to be a great class. Fantastic. I am taking all of khan classes!
had no idea what i was going to get in this class all semester long. there are like three projects and a paper all crammed in at the end of the semester. i had very high hopes for this class and sadly i didn't learn as much as i thought i would.
He only lectures and goes off topic to the point where he never finishes his lecture. He's too smart to teach a 300 class. He always changed the syllabus, and never left enough time for any of the group projects. Also provided little guidance for the final paper. The most frustrating POSC class I've ever taken!
This was an exciting class. I learned a lot and I found the simulations very useful. Lot of work but since it was an honors class I expected it going in. He is very knowledgeable and bright and has a very good sense of humor. Loved his stories of the Third World.
Mind blowing Has a very unusual take on world politics. Very knowledgeable and travels a lot. Very helpful and gives good career suggestions.
This was my first class on Islam. It was amazing. Dr. Khan knows his stuff. The simulations are great and he tells the best stories :)
It was a great class. But the help he provided in getting an internship was amazing. Gives amazing career advice.
I took Dr. Khan's class on Islam and found it eyeopening. He focussed on mysticism and this was new to me. The best part of the class are the simulations. They were fun! He is helpful, but has strong opinions about foreign policy. Very liberal. very accommodating. I missed tests, he let me make up, twice.
I took the class out of interest in Islam. It was great. Lot of simulations and good lectures. Very helpful with makeup exams.
Interesting guy, class, atmosphere. Fair grader, but can sneak a pop quiz or two. People who are interactive and vocal, like myself, are more likely to succeed in his class than those you never here a word out of. He isn't the type that thinks the world revolves around himself, but has stories about his life that keep class interesting! Take him!
I took his class because of his popularity. He got me interested in Islam and International Relations. Thinking of changing my major to IR. Great lectures, cool simulations, too many surprise quizzes but fair grader.
I honestly think he just gives everyone a B. He also never really answers emailsor is in his office when he is supposed to be. The information for the class is really interesting, but he is not very clear on what he wants for assignmentstests. I would take him again but he is all over the place and not very organized.
Dr. Khan is one of the most intelligent people i have ever met however very disorganized. don't expect him to answer to emails or be present at his office hours but if you go to class you will learn so much he convinced me to declare a middle-east specialization
My favorite professor at UD. He is not the greatest teacher in the conventional sense, since he doesnt give that much direction to students when it comes to assignments or studying for quizzes. He does, however, provide students with some of the best lectures on Political Science. Very inspirational, eloquent, and engaging. Highly recommended.
Professor Khan is an amazing professor with lots of knowledge and personal experience to share on topics in class. However there is no clear grading criteria or criteria for group presentations or papers, but will usually clarify if you go to his office hours. A bit hard to reach sometimes, but makes up for it with his passion in class.
Dr Khan is loved by all his students. He's funny and easy going and a super knowledgable guy. The class grade is based on a paper and two group presentations. His lectures are kind of rambly sometimes but you do learn and he is definitely a professor to take if you have a chance.
I enjoyed Dr. Khan's lectures very much. He is very knowledgable and witty. I was amazed at how involved he is in real life politics. During the semester he organized many conferences. I attended one on Iran nuclear deal and one on social justice. even the Governor of Delaware was there. I like the field trips to the mosques.
Dr. Khan is the best. Great lecturer and great career advisor. He helped me get an internship on a campaign. I love his classes a must take professor at UD.
I have no idea what was going on in this class any of time. I took it because khan had amazing reviews on here and he's a cool guy but I had no idea what was going on ever in class.
Great lectures. Great stories. Helps with jobs, internships. Fair grader. Very complicated assignments.
Amazing lectures. great stories. I found him very motivating. Too many projects but he is a fair grader and very helpful. Not very structured.
Cool professor. He has tons of contacts all over the place and will help you get an internship. His class isn't very clear at all, the syllabus is basically useless, and there are no guidelines for any of the very few assignments.
He is very bright and gives brilliant lectures. Helps with jobs and internships. Great career councillor. Does not stick to syllabus. I love the simulations he uses.
Best teacher I have ever had at UD. Class is one long intellectual conversation and he 'tries' to follow the syllabus but won't punish students if we go astray. Has one midterm, no final, one group project, and one paper. Smartest teacher I've ever had & very nice, highly recommend. Encourages participation but won't punish the quiet.
Dr. Khan is the GOAT. Very intelligent guy, and reachable for help if you need. Don't expect to stick to the syllabus, but his stories are interesting and keep the class fun.
Dr Khan tells great stories and going to class is entertaining. That being said the grading criteria is very vague and you only have a few things that you're graded on.
Dr. Khan is a very different type of Professor. I learnt a lot about how to make policy and write police briefs in his class. The only class in which the FBI comes to teach a class. He is also a great career advisor. THE BEST PROF at UD.
This course was fun. He used movies to teach! Most fun course I took. He also gave me great internship ideas. He is very cool.
I really enjoyed Professor Khan's lectures. The movies were fun. the group projects were not that bad and he is not a tough grader in the summer. He is very helpful with career advice.
Class curriculum is very disorganized. A low talker. More of a religion class than Political Science. Also tells stories that don't seem to have anything to do with the topics being discussed.
Probably the smartest professor at UD. Brilliant and amazing lectures.
This class was great. So many wonderful speakers. I got an internship with a Senator. How many classes can get you that?
He's very knowledgeable and a great lecturer, but the class is very unorganized and the grading system is pretty vague. 1 midterm exam that's very simple as long as you paid attention in class, a reflection on mysticism, a group documentary, and a 7-page paper. Overall a stimulating and simple class, just don't stress over his lack of organization.
One of the best professors at UD. Don't let his un-organization scare you, his midterm is easy if you read and you'll get an A if you go to class and office hours. He has many connections so make sure to get to know him well.
All lectures are informative and connect to current events. You have a few grades, but they are easy. You have to do a lot of reading, 1 exam (our's got cancelled), and papers. Lectures are held like a discussion. You learn a lot about topics that connect to what you are learning about. Meets once a week.
Professor Khan is perhaps one of the most informative professors I have ever had. He never fails to cover a wide scope of material in all aspects of politics and encourages class discussion and debate. It was by far my favorite class when I took it - just be prepared to work hard
Professor Khan is incredibly unorganized and unclear in what he wants. The grade for this class is based entirely on group projects and a paper, but he provides little instructions on what he is looking for. If you don't absolutely have to take this class, don't take it
Most unprofessional professor I have ever had. Only take professor Khan if you are ready to disrespected by a teacher. He will be condescending and raise his voice. this is not a vendetta because he didnt even do this to me, but I witnessed it every class. You can still get a good grade though, but if you care about your dignity, do not take.
I enjoyed this class very much. He tells amazing stories. He also gave me extra days for the final paper. One paper, no exams, and one group presentation. He is very knowledgeable and helpful.
One of the best professors at UD. Gives amazing lectures. Don't let his un-organization scare you, his midterm is easy if you read and you'll get an A if you go to class and office hours. He has many connections so make sure to get to know him well.
I took Dr. Khan's 410 and I am now taking POSC 491. His lectures are amazing and discussions very open and interesting. He has also helped me with finding internships and has alerted me to opportunities for awards and jobs. Must take at least one class if you go to UD.
I took several classes with Dr. Khan and POSC 491 was the fifth. I find his lectures amazing and his knowledge of the subject awesome. He also helped me get a prestigious internship. Fantastic prof. My elder brother took three classes with him and he told me that take Dr. Khan's classes they will be your best experience at UD.
One of the smartest professors I had. The kind of guy you would want to go out to lunch with, but you do not learn a lot in this class. He was a super easy grader until course evals were over. The low grade went from a 90 to a 75. Little feedback is given as to why you get a grade too.
One of the worst professors I ever had. He is impossible to reach outside of class and assigned multiple projects and papers in the last couple of weeks of class. His due dates and guidelines changed depending on his mood. It seems like he randomly grades assignments and won't explain why. I will never take his class again. New students beware.
He's an interesting and over-qualified guy. If you are interested in his areas of expertise, you will love his stories. However - he is very disorganized and will not remind you AT ALL if big things are due, like papers or presentations, so you really have to check the syllabus. You don't need to go to class unless it's an assignment day.
Overall, well-rounded professor with extensive knowledge in his field. Definitely needs more structure in his assignments, written rubrics very much needed. I enjoyed the discussions/lectures but was very stressed when it came to assignments and presentations since there was hardly any direction given and grading was very sporadic/late.
Super unclear with grading criteria and with what he wants, but ultimately he's a light grader so it doesn't really matter as long as you clearly put in effort. He's probably going to say stuff you disagree with or that challenges you, but he is a great lecturer and a very nice man, and you will learn a lot under him.
He had that thing where he wasn't on the same hemisphere as us for the week right before our plays were due, but other than that he's a great professor and a funny guy. His rubrics could definitely be clearer (or exist for that matter) but you'll be fine. You're given a lot of freedom with the 2 assignments you have. Have fun with your play.
